Very easy class to get an A in, just show up and do your best. He is open to any discussion in class and encourages it. He doesn't make you buy the book, no homework, and barely any tests, all the work is in front of the podium and he just wants you to be yourself. TAKE THIS CLASS!

Awesome teacher...you actually want to go to class!

He's a really laid back guy. Doesn't lecture a lot because, well, the students are supposed to do the talking in public speaking. Class was a fun environment; he keeps you involved with current events. Really lenient grader.

I'm terrified of speaking in front of people, but I took this class to get over it. In the end I'm still terrified, but now I know how to cope from his class. Don't buy the book, he doesn't use it. It's probably the best way to teach this class too considering the whole point of public speaking is SPEAKING. Just be prepared to talk in every class.

He's great. If you want to really do well in this class, ask him to sit in (if you are an online student) and you will pick up a bunch of things fast. It requires you to do the work on your own though, and you can either scrape by, or you can get into and really learn this important skill. Your education is what you make it.

The best professor ever. Seriously show up write a few speeches and give it your all, do the online homework and you'll pass with flying colors. He does give you grades for participation sometimes and for attendance. Loved him, do the extra credit and your grade will shoot up I had a 110%.

Public speaking was one of the classes I dreaded most but Thomas Maple made it enjoyable. The class isn't hard and there's not tests or quizzes. Basically do your 3 speeches for the year and come to class and you'll get an A.

Effort is key with Professor Maple. I had no problem with the workload or the specifics of the writing and presentation in this class, but some did. However, what mattered to the professor was effort put forth and following directions. Making a good grade in this class should be easy if you try your best and stick to his suggestions.

Awesome professor! It was a pleasure having taken his class. He leads the class that makes everyone feels comfortable. The topics that he chooses for the presentations are a bit difficult, but those topics will help you to develop your critical thinking and see things in a different way. He'll respect your point of view in any side of the topics.

Class is graded on speeches and a few assignments on Canvas. He is lenient with due dates, but don't abuse it. He is very nice and caring. Allows students to pick their speech dates and topics. Pretty easy grader. I recommend him 100% ! He gives good tips and tricks for speaking in public!

I entered a class that I didn't know anyone in and speaking in front of crowds was my biggest fear. Take Maple's class if you feel like learning, but also don't want to gouge your ears out. Will you get an A for showing up? Nope. You aren't graded on the time or word count, but the way you engage and relate with your audience. 10/10 would eat bugs for participation again.

Very easy class to pass, however teacher grades once a month or once every two months so its hard to know where youre currently standing in your work. But only 1-2 assignments are due a week and he usually pushes them out even another week right before the due date. Easy pass!

This is literally the best Professor out there. He knows at least something about literally any topic we ever mention, he's super nice, and funny. He's also an OG because what other class do you walk into and the Prof has like 21 Savage, Posty, The Weeknd , Mac Miller, and other great artists playing? Its a great class, 15/10 would recommend. I HIGHLY recommend taking Professor Maple. He is very nice and easy to work with. Attendance is graded but the classes are fun, and the in-class discussions are interesting. There is a textbook, but it is free. There are a few short presentations, but they are all pretty easy. No exams and very little homework.

This is only my second Semester, but so far he is my favorite professor yet! he was so awesome to work with, he hears you out when you need help with some things, as well as he understands some if you need more time with a project. if he taught another class and I saw his name under the class immediately I would sign up without a doubt in my mind

Professor Maple keeps a great learning environment. Everyone in the class frequently participates and he manages to keep the classroom free of judgment. He is lighthearted and brings up interesting topics that are fun to discuss. The lectures are entertaining and the projects are easy to complete.

Professor Maple is a gem at Santa Fe College. His class was easy and he was extremely friendly. I would strongly recommend him

He was soo nice and made the class fun, super easy, makes you feel comfortable to present, gives you time to prepare, gives extensions, good environment, made lots of connections/friends with the class, related to every day life so super easy. 100% recommend!

Prof Maple is one of the most down to earth professors at Santa Fe. You can tell he genuinely loves his students and his job. I could feel my public speaking skills improve throughout the semester. There were ~6 speeches total, some were impromptu, some were planned. The public speaking topics were also interesting, so the class didn't feel boring.

Professor Maple is amazing. I would highly recommend his class. He is a very funny and laybacked guy. Barely any homework No quizzes or test.

The best professor who is very silly and willing to work with you. As long as you show up and pay attention, you're gonna learn a lot and have a great time.

BEST PROFESSOR EVER! I cannot express how amazing he was. Class was always super fun and he is such a nice guy. He is very understanding and not a harsh grader. You do a lot of speeches but most are very short and not hard. I wish i could take this class again.

No test, No homework, One big speech (easy), one group debate (easy), and a few impromptu speeches in class. If you show up to class you will do great! Class was really laid back, and not as "tough" as I thought public speaking class could be. Mr. Maples was the coolest teacher ever! If you take this class you will not regret it!

Amazing class overall! Professor Maple very clearly cares about all of his students. Your grade is largely determined by attendance/participation and a few presentations. The class is structured in a very relaxed manner, due dates may be pushed back. It would be very hard to not get an A in this class if you participate and follow instructions.

Professor Maple was one of the most genuine professors I have ever had. The class was not stressful but pushed you to become a better speaker all thanks to Professor Maple's guidance and coaching. There are 3 or 4 main speeches that make up your grade. Show up to class and you will get an A.

No quizzes or test in this class and you still learn a bunch

Professor Maple is AMAZING. You can instantly tell that he cares so much about his students. Assignments were mostly presentations but most are with groups and they were all easy. He cares mostly just about seeing effort. I normally HATE presenting but Maple made me feel completely comfortable. I HIGHLY recommend taking it.

The best professor I have had while at SFC. Such a great professor. Just show up to class and you will pass 100% There are like 3-4 main speeches but its honestly not that bad.

His class is really easy. Just come to class, and make sure you participate. He knows when you don't and you will a lot of points for the week. There are 4 major presentations you will do in class and that is it for the most part. He is a nice person and always has interesting commentary to add to your presentations. Would take him again.

Super easy course, show up to class!!! you will lose points if you don't show up without reasoning. Really great professor and makes things understandable and simple. I thought public speaking would be super awkward and give me a panic attack but he made the class super relaxing and did not put any extreme pressures on us.

Easy class, great professor. Attendance is mandatory, but just letting him know you won't come to class is another option not to get too many points off. Even if you prefer to avoid speaking in front of people, I recommend taking this class. Probably the easiest A.

Super easy class but very informative, a very caring professor and participation really matters. He makes everyone feel comfortable and heard. If you show up and speak up then it is an easy A.

I thought I didn't have what it takes to give speeches in public settings, but his class proved me wrong. I couldn't have been blessed with a better public speaking professor. HE. IS. AMAZING. Less HW, gives you full points on HW even if late, and such a sweet and supportive teacher. Loved him and hope others enjoy public speaking with him as well!

I took the honors version of the course, but it was still super fun. If you love talking and sharing your opinion in front of a class, it's a great course for you. It does not require a lot of work outside of class and this teacher specifically is super accommodating! I would 10 to 10 Recommend this class as a GPA booster.

Professor Maple's class is a breeze - just show up and participate. The public speaking assignments are manageable, and he makes the class super engaging. unstuck AI was a big help for preparing my speeches. Overall, an awesome professor!

Very easy and fun class, just show up and you'll be fine. we take class in the little auditorium in E building so if you are scared of public speaking don't take Mr Maple, he will make you talk a lot in front of the class. he is super easy going and nice, the only bad thing is that he is a little late very often, 100% recommended tho

He's a great guy and cares about all of his students. All you have to do is show up and do the assignments and it is an easy A and you will get better at Public Speaking. Definitely recommend. Also don't not take the class because you are scared of speaking, he makes it a comfortable environment and you don't have to talk as much as you think.

Professor Maple runs Public Speaking exactly how it should be: by prioritizing building the skill over nitpicking at grades. This class was extremely enjoyable, a multitude of perspectives are welcomed, and feedback was clear. The more you and your classmates interact with the class the more fun it is.

Professor Maple is the BEST!! He truly cares about his students and makes huge efforts to keep the class fun, stress-free, and educational. There is only a couple large speeches, one of which is a group project, and the final is a small "toast" to the class. He gives tons of opportunities for extra credit as well! I could not recommend him enough!

Amazing professor! His main goal is to get students engaged. Our speeches revolve around critical thinking, and he is not a tough grader. Very accommodating if you miss class. Attendance is a good 40% of your grade... and I missed a lot of classes, but I go extra credit on my speeches (if you are first speaker). His instructions can be confusing.

If you have to take Public Speaking take him or you're missing out!!! He is the most generous, kind, funny guy ever. He just wants to see every student succeed. Couldn't ask for a better professor.

Best professor I could have asked for!!! Professor Maple is very kind, understanding, fun, and supportive. It's obvious that he wants to see all his students succeed. Assignments were open after due date and the class schedule is pretty flexible, especially if you communicate. If you need to take public speaking, make sure it's with Maple!

Loved this professor. He was very chill and laid back. He graded mostly on attendance and participation. So, if you don't really come to class often, this isn't for you. He graded softly and there were a lot of extra credit opportunities. Also, he doesn't close any assignments, therefore you can do them whenever.

He is super nice and definitely cares about his students. DO NOT take this class if you don't like public speaking. Pretty much the only assignments are group presentations, with a final solo presentation, but he makes it less awkward. You also must speak and ask questions every class in order to get participation credit.

Professor Maple is not only a phenomenal professor, but just an all around great guy. He grades based on attendance and participation and majority of the big grade assignments are group projects which you have to present. Definitely the most enjoyable class I've had so far at Santa Fe.

Professor Maple was excellent! This class was super, super easy, I got 100% on every assignment. Professor Maple kept every assignment open from day one to the end, he accepts late assignments for full credit. This was a very fun class that I looked forward to attending.

One of only 2 professors in my college career I have gone out of my way to recommend to literally anyone who could take the class. If you have a fear of public speaking, and see this course in your degree audit and are stressing… don't. You will finish this class wishing you could take it again. Seriously.

Genuinely one of my favorite teachers I've ever had. Not once did I go in expecting to have a bad experience. He's a fun, upbeat guy who makes this class exciting. HIGHLY Recommend him.

Mr. Maple was an amazing professor. I looked forward to his class every other day. There are two group projects and one final project. All of which are not complicated and enjoyable. He creates a comforting atmosphere so don't fret if you don't like presentations. Class was cancelled a few times due to fun events on campus he wanted us to enjoy.

Prof. Maple is genuinely one of the best teachers I've ever had in my academic career. He is very upbeat and just fun to be around. His class was mainly group projects, but the topics were fun and interesting to learn. He also grades on attendance and participation (ex. asking the group who's presenting a question.) Prof. Maples is amazing! I took him in my last semester, but we have been chatting a lot on campus before. He is friendly, cares about his students' well-being, and loves to talk! The classes were easy, and yet very entertaining! A lot of people who were scared of public speaking made some fantastic speeches at the end. Maple for the win, take him!

Forgot to rate him, but genuinely the best professor I've ever had. He cared so much about each and every student, and even helped the students out while admin was deleting accounts and losing aid money. He will make you look forward to going to college and learning more, and you will leave his class feeling enriched and enlightened. Take this guy.

This is by far one of the best professors you will see on Santa Fe campus. I'm in Public Speaking and I actually looked forward to this class every Monday and Wednesday. Professor Maple is kind, funny, and very easy to talk to, it was nerve wracking sometimes to go up and speak in front of the class but was fun to do. Don't pass up this class!
