This guy is the most philisophical person I've ever known in my life!!! We go over like 1 slide of notes each class period because he can turn the simplest question into a huge mystery. For instance he may ask you 2+2. One person raises their hand and says 4. No no your right but even more basic than that! Another person raises their hand and says 2x2, same response. The next person raises their hand and says 8/2. Same response. Finally he'll say oh come on its the square root of 16 class!!!

If you actually want to learn in college, I strongly suggest taking as many courses with him as possible. He is brilliant, has helped me beyond college, is like family, and I cannot say enough about him. He is tough, but truly cares about his students. It would be a true shame if you did not take a course with him. Also I was not an A student.

Dr. Metallo doesnt give specific instructions for papers but expects the student to write about very specific things that he withholds until reviewing the paper after its been submitted and graded. Hes also very bad at communicating outside of class. I tried to email, call, and go to his office hours multiple times and he was always unavailable.

Dr. Metallo is clearly extremely knowledgeable and well-read. That said, his class can be dry and is tough to pay attention to. I took the honors section, which may have increased the difficulty level. He does offer 50 points of extra credit if you never miss a class. Definitely buy Prevailing Worldviews, the others are more optional reads.

. Dr. Metallo is very intelligent and an amazing man who does definitely cares but he is very unclear concerning his expectations. The essays he gives for this class is on an 800 page book that he doesn't discuss with you in class or office hours and will grade you harshly for not including minute details.

Dr. Metallo is a gem of a man who is always ready to talk about anything! His class was probably one of the most difficult things I've accomplished, but definitely worth it to wake me up entering college. All quizzes and exams are from the reading, and the papers are based on speeches/writing that is never discussed prior or after submission.

Dr. Metallo is amazing! He loves his students and is readily accessible outside class to talk about anything. Beware: this class is not easy. Be prepared for larger papers and extensive exams. You will learn quite a bit if you lean into the work. Dr. Metallo does tend to go on tangents raging against Marxism, which may or may not be for everyone.

I learned more from this class and being diligent with studying than any other class in my 4 years of college. Show up, work hard, and be willing to work hard and you'll be fine

For Political Economy & Public Policy, he showed YouTube videos 90% of the time!! & when he wasn't showing a YouTube video, he would go on these rants where he would literally yell at the class, venting his frustration with Liberty, Politics, and Black Lives Matter. He also uses these ancient blue book exams. Other than that, he's pretty chill.

Amazing professor. He really knows the material and is very culturally aware. 4 multiple-choice exams with essay question (given in advance), 8 quizzes, 3 analysis papers. Once you get used to the flow of the class/exams studying gets easier; put in the work and you'll get an A. Also extra credit chances if you don't miss a class or under 2.

Metallo has a strict grading criteria with very little feedback and explanation for how he wants his papers. You can literally reword the book and fail your essay because it was not explained enough. His lectures consist of horrible jokes and unnecessary rambling. The third exam is the worst and will crush your soul. Show up and cry after.

This man is the most subjective grader for papers and tests. You will want to cry every time you show up to class. Even laughing at his awful "jokes" will not make him like you enough to give you a good grade. The third exam in the class will by far be your lowest grade and he acknowledges it is because of how he teaches it but refuses to change.

Unless you want to spend 60-70% of your time mass memorizing, would not recommend. Took him for Govt. 200 honors, and it monopolized my semester. Would expend insane amounts of time and effort to receive mediocre grades; participation gave me an A. So many conspiracy theories, and he is the most subjective grader; doesn't even pretend to be fair.

Thomas Metallo is an unnecessarily hard professor. No quizzes or homework that you can do in between these tests in case you flunk one of the three essay tests. Classes are very lecture heavy and never make use of PowerPoints or visual material to understand the topics. Grades very subjectively. Get some friends to study with. You will need them.

This professor's honors government class was the worst class experience I've had at Liberty and in my life. He is NEVER available outside class if you have questions. He is a tough grader and never tells you how to get better scores. His lectures are off-topic, and grades are based on how much he likes you (how much you agree with his politics).

Yes Dr Metallo is a tough professor, but as a senior in HSOG I think it is great to actually have a professor challenge me. If you listen to his lectures and take notes, his exams are directly from the outline he gives you. I have made it through 2 Metallo courses without reading the books. He has a TON of wisdom and knowledge to offer up.

I endured Metallos graduate level course and I have never been instructed by a worse professor. Moved all three exams to the last quarter of the course. Unclear or no feedback on how to improve your exam or final paper. His curriculum is a decade, if not two decades out of date with no visual or posted lectures for help. Terrible pedagogy.
