Over all he is a nice guy and wants everyone to pass. His lectures are pretty straigt forward, and if you show up to class, you should pass with no lower than a " C" . Dont forget chem 102 is a hard class, you cant just sit and expect to get a &

this guy is a good professor. i would recommend him if you want to learn in his class. he can sometimes zoom really fast in lectures but if you can keep up with him, you wouldn't have a problem in his exams if you study his notes and practice problems. excellent professor!

Course is very fast-paced and it can be difficult to keep on top of the material. Exams are tough, but are based on lectures, so there are no surprises. Prof does a great job of trying to keep the material interesting and explain things well. Grading is fair. Probably the best chem prof I've had, but keep in mind that organic, no matter who the prof is, is simply a difficult course.

A very fast-paced course which requires a lot of time. He is a great teacher for CHEM 102, but is way too fast for CHEM 333. If you fall behind in the class, you can bend over and kiss your ass goodbye because there is no way of catching back up.

For Chem 102 there is no better teacher, sure his class is a lil fat paced but the guy knows what he is teachin unlike collins. take him for 102 he is the best choice out of all

He is a great teacher, but in order to pass his class you really need to put time into it. And I dont mean just a couple more hours. Study with friends on weekends, do all of his problems until you get every step because you will need all the practice you can get when it comes time for his exams, which are based on lecture. Do it all and youl pass.

I love this Man. He has made me love OCHEM and get a 39 on MCAT. He is the best teacher ever and the smartest person at CSUN! He's a Harvard Graduate. Take him for any class.

He is a very smart guy but his class is very tuff. U must dedicate a massive amount of time in order to do well. He is very helpfull and a nice guy. He curves the end grade and drops any 100 pts at the end. His notes are online but you must come to class inorder to fill them in. I took his class twice and the second time it made much more sence.

This is a tough class but out of all the ochem teachers I recommend him. He is helpful outside of class. Make sure to spend time in this class if not it will be impossible to pass.

I enjoyed the class considering it was O.Chem. He explains well and he gives a lot of quizes to help boost your grade, but a warning is that he has hard tests, but the good thing about it is that he grades really easily; he gives a lot of points for effort regardless of how wrong your answers are. Great Prof! Funny too!

good teacher, second time i took this class, and this time i understood the material. but you need to really work hard for an A. he is a really liberal grader, and will make himself available until you understand the concepts. if you can take him for any chemistry class he is teaching, it will only reinforce the subject for you later on.

BEST professor you will ever have in your academic career one of the toughest classes you'll ever take. He has been nothing less than an inspiration and mentor to me. Lectures are online with additional exam style practice problems and a list of relevant book. Dr. M is always willing and happy to help you. A must take in the chemistry department!!!

I had a really tough time in this class but he was very helpful and positive. The curve is absolutely great and will spend as much time as you need to solve a problem. His enthusiasm, energy, and helpfulness makes you WANT to spend your Saturday nights solving alcohol synthesis problems on paper instead of drinking it at a bar. Great person, clear professor, RIDICULOUS tester. I compared my tests with Ochem 2 tests that my friends were taking at UCLA and UCI and my tests were WAY BEYOND anything they were learning. The tests are beyond crazy even if he is a good professor.

Best O-Chem Prof. on campus -by far. If you want an A, office hours are going to be your best friend. EVEN IF YOU DON'T HAVE QUESTIONS, others will go and ask questions -Pay Attention, don't be cheap. This class separates the proverbial Men from the boys. STUDY THE NOTES memorize the reactions. You can do it, 80% gets you an A-.

explains everything really well, he expects you to know everything. you need to study really hard for this class, do as much practice problems as you can, especially the ones in his website, he will have the idea of some of them in his tests. the quizzes will probably tell you how you gonna do on his tests. really helpful, nice professor. Dr Minehan was great. Super helpful, gives partial credit on exams and offers extra credit at the end of each exam. Loves to test on mechanisms and synthesis problems. He's always willing help. He definitely takes note of those that put in extra time and effort. Definitely the best Ochem professor and he knows his stuff. Take him if he's teaching.

Dr. Minehan is an excellent instructor but his exams in Advanced Organic Chemistry can be tough. Preparation for the only two exams he gives is challenging and intense.

Okay, Dr. Minehan is extremely smart, I learned a lot from his class but the exams were extremely tough, he taught the basics in lecture and the exams were 10x harder than the lecture, if this is your only class, study daily for at least two hours a day. Dr. Minehan is an awesome lecturer and helps students enjoy organic chemistry. He's very enthusiastic and passionate about his subject and most important he's extremely knowledgeable.

This class is not difficult if you know what to study for. He has plenty of resources available on his Moodle page to help you study for his exams. I got an A in both semesters (333 and 334) because of it. That said, you will need to put in a lot of effort. If you decide you want an easy A and slack off, it's guaranteed that you won't pass.

Professor Minehan prepares us incredibly well. He teaches Organic Chemistry VERY WELL. However, his exams are the hardest out of any professor and acing his class will require a lot of effort. He has many amazing resources but get ready to put your entire effort into this class. Recommened for Pre Med. Great to prepare for the MCAT

AMAZING OCHEM 2 PROFESSOR! Yes he speaks fast but if you did well in ochem 1 then you won't struggle to keep up because the parts of the lectures where he speeds through are things you should already know from ochem 1 Quizzes and exams are not hard at all as long as you go over each reaction he does in class and use the resources he gives.

To do well you really need to pay attention and take good notes. All of his exams come from the lecture notes. If he's going too fast, focus on what he's saying instead of what he's writing. Hilarious, approachable, and highly intelligent guy. Highly recommend taking 334R with him, or at least doing the problems on Canvas for each chapter. Study!!

Really liked Dr. Minehan. I'm a biochem. major and hoping he's going to teach other chem courses I will take. He makes the subject simple and doesn't overcomplicate it and the resources he provides are VERY helpful.

Overall very hard exams, there are 3 exams and 6 quizzes with the lowest quiz being dropped. Lots of practice exams and practice problem on website. Must study everyday to do well. Grades fairly, but the best thing is that there is a major curve at the end. Defiantly recommend. He is very caring.

Prof. Minehan gives amazing lectures. If you want to get an A in his class, 1- Make sure to write down the important points that he says during lecture rather than trying to copy the structures that he draws on the board (he talks fast) 2-Read the textbook ! many people don't and they struggle. 3- Do as many practice problems as you can !

If u struggle with Chem, disregard those reviews that got As. Class average after exam 2 was 52% but gave big curve at the end. Honest review here: his testes are 10 times harder than his hw, lectures so study harddd, use every single brain cell u have and don't give up bc if u actually study, u will definitely pass this class thanks to his curve.

took minehan for 334 and the class had 3 multiple choice exams, 6 multiple choice quizzes (drops lowest). the only thing is he shows pretty simple problems during lecture but the exams have the most challenging problems on there. he curves the class a lot which helped a lot of students. overall recommend him

It's like he's teaching a 1 year old half the alphabet and expects him to know the rest. 3 exams, 6 quizzes, 1 quiz dropped. The "major" curve, no idea what the rest are talking about because I had a C after final, and got a C+.

The chemistry department at CSUN is horrible, but Dr. Minehan tries to make it less horrible. O-Chem is a hard class, so you need to stay on top of your studies everyday (the class average on exams was always below a 50%). Grade is dependent on 5 quizzes, 2 exams, 1 final, and 80points from discussion (based on participation, os show up).

By far the most fair and arguably the best o chem prof CSUN has to offer. It's o chem so this is a difficult class but he does his best to make the subject as straightforward as possible. Obviously you have to put in the work, especially in a class like o chem, but he really does want you to succeed and it shows. Quizzes/Exams aren't easy but fair.

Be prepared to fall in love. He is an incredibly kind and caring professor. Ochem is insanely difficult but he makes it easy to understand. He really wants his students to succeed and is willing to help out as much as possible. His jokes/mannerisms during class make the mental breakdowns from this material worth it

Professor Minehan makes learning Organic Chemistry an enjoyable experience. He understands that some students may find it difficult to understand some concepts in class so he makes sure to quiz you on those very same topics so that you get a feel for what the test might look like. He gives awesome feedback when you ask him questions.

This class was extremely difficult, but that has more to do with the subject rather than the professor. Professor Minehan is extremely knowledgeable on the subject, and lectures well. He moves fast through the material, so make sure you pay attention. There's no homework, but you still need to practice every day. Tests are very hard, but curved.

I hate chemistry and I've hated all the chem professors I've had at csun but he made chemistry interesting. Chem was always hard for me and I thought I wouldn't understand one thing from organic but he teaches so well. He is fast but does everything step by step. Gives old exams as review and his discussion material helps.

Minehan was the perf ochem prof for me. He talks pretty fast which will keep you engaged and not fall asleep. The class itself is very difficult and comes with spending a lot of time outside of class but HIS CURVE IS AMAZING. Fun guy also, definitely recommend him if you want to actually learn ochem.

2 midterms, 1 final. Quizzes once every other week (extremely hard, but if you study you should get 100%). 10 pts ec on each exam (difficult). Extra easy 10 pts ec at end of sem. FANTASTIC PROF, EXAMS ARE TERRIBLE. Honestly you just gotta wing it and try your best and you should finish with an A-. Curves at end of sem based on average (15% for us)

Professor Minehan makes organic chemistry less dreadful. His fast-paced lectures and challenging exams require consistent studying, but the curve helps. Use Unstuck ai and practice problems to stay on top of the material.

The most glazed professor I've ever encountered at CSUN, and for good reason. Great lecturer, very sweet and fun person. Class is hard because the content is very hard, but he makes it a bit more bearable with his humor. Good luck on the exams though you'll need it.

I took him for Ochem 334 and he is great! he curves heavy and most of the class ended up passing with an A or B. He is a little boring when it comes to lecture, but it is a easy A if you study decently. He answers questions well.

Ochem is already a difficult class but minehan makes it manageable. You are graded on 3 exams and 5/6 quizzes. His exams are difficult I won't lie but if you put in the time, you'll do great. I recommend doing many practice problems emphasizing on products and reagents, this is HUGE on exams. Exams are free response and multiple choice. GOOD LUCK.
