2 exams, and a final. All exams are cumulative. 8 quizzes, 6 count. Gives practice exams to study from that do not represent the real exam at all. Says class is not mandatory but then complains when people don't attend. Power points are unorganized. I'm sure he's not the worst chem professor at UNF, but still I wouldn't recommend him.

Very good lab instructor. Weekly quizzes which are based on pre-labs and post-labs. Fair but strict about attendance and being on time. For the most part an easy lab class if you have a solid background in basic chemistry. Always available during office hours and very helpful during class.

I have rarely ever experienced such a ineffecient teaching style. I have attended numerous colleges and universities, online, hybrid and brick and mortar. I have graduated from all of them with degrees. That being said this professor is among the worst. Be prepared to "be told what to learn" instead of being taught chemistry. Youtube was my prof.

Nice guy, not a good teacher. Makes relatively simple concepts seem difficult and makes it stressful. I found that my time was better spent at home studying than in class. I withdrew because my overall semester workload was a lot, but his assignments were all due the day of the test so that gave you a month + to do the pearson assignments. He is very strict about some stuff. I asked him multiple questions after lecture and he always seemed as though I shouldn't be bothering him.

He tries to put a lot of information into a short amount of time. (my class was only 50 minutes). He has his own book with practice questions and exams and that helped ALOT. The homework is much harder than exams. I found him to be very rude when needing help. Like I was bothering him by asking a question.

I would recommend taking Mullen for CHM2045. He requires you to buy the Lecture/Exam Problems booklet from the bookstore. The booklet has exams that he has given in the past and completing those prior to the midterm exams helps tremendously because the questions are very similar. By doing well on those, there are no surprises on the exams.

Dr Mullen is a fantastic professor but his class was probably one of the hardest classes Ive ever taken. I had to study a lot and his tests are hard but once you learn how to study for his class it gets better. However, you will definitely learn chem with this professor so I recommend him, especially if you have to take more than one chem class.

Mullen is controversial but for Introchem I think he is a good choice. He is clear what he expects for his tests and his lectures are clear. Class is mainly exam (all multiple choice) grades and some HW/practice exam grades. If you pay attention in lecture and study well for the material, this class is easily passable.
