Professional Ethics. His class mostly consisted of reading the ENTIRE short book. The tests would come from the book and lectures. He lectures until the last minute and often just takes up time by explaining a theory in deep-detail through an anecdote. He's very nice though and has a lot of patience. Get started on the 12 page paper right away!
Quite entertaining
He will sometimes make fun of you, but it is usually funny when he makes fun of someone else. Oh and start on that bull**** research paper he has you do on a certain case, and the group presentation.
BORING! He trys to make it interesting but the subject is no fun... also, make sure your cell phone is OFF (or he will answer it) And you will notice with your grades. That 12 page paper is important so get started ASAP. GOOD LUCK SUCKER!
A nut...
he's a cute older man. like a teddy bear.
Great guy. Very interesting and animated. Not very easy but class is very enjoyable and if you stick to reading the text you'll do fine! Totally recommend.
I think he is a great teacher. He is very helpful and gives great examples and lectures. Make sure you do the reading and your research paper and presentation. he is a really nice guy. study hard for his test. he really gets you into his class.
cant beleive people called him boring or a nut, clearly they dont belong in a phil class. Well more than a bear he looks like socrates, good teacher, you will find it tempting not to read because he covers everything so well in his lectures. But if you dont read you are screwed, research papers in every class.
I do not why people rate this professor with high scores. Please believe me do not take a course with him. He is very strict, make hard examinations, you will need a blue book to wirte your answers, its hard. Also in your team presentation if he feel you did not participate as much as your other members, he asked you questions in front of all!
Do work, its a goood class, do paper as soon as POSSIBLE!!!!!! Attendance is for extra points in the end
Engaging and funny, works very hard to help students who ask him for help. He is especially willing to help early in the semester. He is a stickler about plagerism and seems to have read everything ever written, because he can remember even papers written by other students years ago!
I've had Dr. Pearson for many phil classes, in my opinion he's the best phil prof on campus. He makes you read a lot, but hey, you learn :)
Great prof with a very interesting take on a rather mundane subject. Read the books and actually go to class and you should be just fine. Just like any other class - the grade you get depends on how much effort you put forward - he can see that and will reward you for paying attention and applying what he has taught you.
An excellent professor, funny too. Mid-term is harsh but if you study and take notes in class is a breeze. Long paper 10 to 15 pages report on ethical issues with a group presentation at the end of semester. You have to study the material.
Pearson is the best philosophy prof on campus, and if you can't handle him or call him crazy, you probably shouldn't be taking phil classes to begin with. Definitely knows his stuff more than anyone else, very humble, and it's definitely an easy B if you apply yourself(had him for 4 classes and have gotten Bs in them all!) He's worth it though.
definitly getting your dollars worth of knowledge in this class.. he does speak the entire class period and takes attendance...only bases grades on midterm/final/paper/ and presentation so you cant afford to mess up.. i got an A.. just read book and review notes.. please TAKE NOTES!!! interesting man and lectures
This guy is a great teacher who knows his stuff up and down. He accepts challenges and listens to explanations, will not embarrass you in return. He is very humble and understanding. Lastly, he is soft and cuddly, like Snuggles the bear. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR. PEARSON.
Dr.Pearson's a piece of work, he knows his stuff and doesn't take BS. Very helpful if you dont understand and you do need the bookS. (notice how I made it plural) Try not to miss because he covers alot in one day. Had fun in the class and look at life just a tad bit different. :) His grading his hard though.
A top quality professor. He gives great lectures and makes ethics concepts crystal clear. He assigns a twelve page research paper which is very easy to put off. Please don't do so, start it early.
Philosophy of law:Great prof but I thought I would warn you, this class is a bit harder than the rest he teaches. YOU HAVE TO READ THE STUFF.
He's so cute & snuggly, he could be a perfect Santa. I wish he was my grampa. Great prof, very intelligent & super funny. Be in class & study and you should be fine.
Research Ethics: Super fun class. You are supposed to read a ton of books. Just read the first one. Midterm and Final are Essay style. You get 10 topics and you write about 6 of them. Not too bad though, he gives you the review with the actual questions he will use. 20pg paper and presentation. Overall, he is a riot.
Great Prof. He knows his stuff. If you are willing to do the work, you will get an A in his class. I would read the books, or at least a summary of what the reading is. Funny guy, fun class, would recommend to anyone.
Pearson is excellent. I took Philosophy of Religion and class was the high point of my day. He's very knowledgeable and willing to help. Best class experience.
Engineering Ethics: You have two blue book exams, group project, and final paper. The paper is the hardest part (12 pages). I gave Dr. Pearson a draft of my paper and I did EXACTLY what he told me to and he gave me a C. Do yourself and favor and take your paper to the writing center, maybe his majesty will give you a B... maybe.
Amazing professor, explains everything in detail, kept the class interesting the entire semester. Very enthusiastic about teaching. Absolutely loved his class. He expect you to know what he teaches in detail, but if you listen and take notes, you'll be fine. Midterm, group presentation, 12 page paper, and a final. Overall, he is one GLORIOUS man.
Dr. Pearson is an INCREDIBLE man! I'm in a special program so he made the class incredibly difficult. Very clear cut in terms of grading but make sure you know how to apply the things you're learning in class or else the semester exam and midterm will destroy you. Went from a borderline A to a B because I didn't study well for the final.
Took him for critical thinking class, and his lectures were great. It helps to really listen and take notes from his lectures, and then go home and take notes from the textbook. Do the practice problems in the textbook. The only tests were the midterm/final, but you have to study really hard for them. Nine quizzes in all.
I took Intro to Social and Political Philosophy with Dr Pearson and he is amazing at what he does. He gives more of a seminary instead of a lecture. He will resolve all your doubts and will answer your emails. He is very fun and interesting man. I definetly recommend him! You have to read a lot but you can figure out the questions he'll ask.
I'm a Freshman that took Dr. Pearson and he certainly contributed to my personal love for philosophy. I looked forward to this class every time I attended and I hope I get to take him again because he made the class awesome. You do have to read, but it's worth it, plus the material makes for fascinating philosophical discussions.
He's an amazing professor! Even if philosophy isn't interesting to you, he will find a way to make it entertaining. The reading is necessary to get through the lectures, but he's great at taking the time to explain things. Would love to take him again!
Amazing professor. The material might be intimidating at first, but he is really helpful. Take him and you won't regret it.
Very knowledgeable professor. He is extremely helpful in time of need. However, you won't pass if you don't read. One 15 page research paper, one writing exam, and one final. READING IS KEY. AS an aspiring lawyer, he has broaden my knowledge as far as how law works, and not just "because it's in the books". I am going to miss his class.
Awesome Lectures
He's a great professor, well knowledgeable in his teachings. He makes classes interesting, and he can get the most complex topic and break it down for us in a simple way to understand it. Bunch of readings, but if you really pay attention to his lectures you will not need to read a lot, 1 midterm, 1 final, and a 15 page final paper.
Dr. Pearson has a sarcastic sense of humor which made his lectures more enjoyable. He may seem intimidating at first but if you talk to him you'll see he's actually really nice. I will warn you that there's a lot of reading in this class, so make sure you don't procrastinate because you will fall behind. However, I would still recommend him!
Love Dr. Pearson, he is the best! I have taken him twice for different class. Very nice and funny person.
He is a great professor, but be prepared to buy about 10 books and have your test based on all of them. You will be okay if you don't read during semester for classes but you'll need to know all of the books for the tests. Also gives a 15 page paper due on last day. Lectures are a lot of fun, he makes it tolerable.
The best professor I've ever had!
Pearson can be good for you if you haven't been doing good in college. He can raise your GPA from 2.10 to 4.00 in a heartbeat.
20 PAGE FINAL PAPER. he gives extra credit if u show up everyday
Keep doing the material
Keep doing the material...
Not a good professor. He goes off topic to discuss about his dogs he owns sometimes
Thomas de la mera pearson can be good for you if you want to study. He can give. Learning potential
Thomas de la superfana person is good for you if you want to learn. Row call everyday in class, so don't skip. Homework is only readings. Too many readings like 5 chapters a week. Too hard class.
His tests are very hard. He needs to make it multiple choice, I think he's sometime get mad when you are late. You will do a lot of reading with Tomas de la perason.
Tests are extremely tough. He needs to like make it easier. Attendance is optional, but for extra credit.
Tomas De superfana person is extremely hard on his students. He makes jokes which are not funny, and expects us to write a 15 page essay at the end of the year. Excuse me, but that is way too much. Attendance is optional also.
Perason contains my lucky element so he can be good for you if you know how to read everyday. Attendance is optional but not necesary
The questions he gives, are " Why are dogs, dogs..." smh Do Not take! But he cute tho.
He no good. Do not take him. Too much work. Easy attendance too
He is ruining everyone's life with his 15 page essay. Don't know about you, but I highly recommend not taking this class
One should not take Pearson. Avoid him at all costs. He does not swell well with students.
He no good. He wants to do a final exam too much work
No good. Boring lecrures
15 page research paper and finals exam. Do not take him. Its so much work
He making everyone wake up early to take his test. No good. He not give assigned times.
It isn't even the first day of class, and he e-mails everyone to purchase the books already, as if I already have enough pressure as it is.
There will be a ton of reading in Pearson's class, be ready to read every night for the next semester if you take him .
He is actually a very good professor. He knows how to pronounce people's names very good. He is very intelligent, and makes the course very fun and interesting. Would recommend. Textbooks are needed.
He is actually a very good professor. He knows how to pronounce people's names very good. He is very intelligent, and makes the course very fun and interesting. Would recommend. Textbooks are needed. He is cool and funny.
I like his class, very interesting. Also he is very lenient. I would recommend him to anyone the class and him make the material very interesting.
Caring professor that makes philosophy interesting. Also very funny.
Very interesting professor and the subject he teaches as well.
He had me doing a 15 page paper which I didn't get to finish. Didn't even start on it
He the best professor I ever had. Gonna miss him. He is very well knowledged in what he teaches and makes it interesting. I would recommend 100%.
Only mid term, final paper and oral exam are graded. So its easy class. He is very cool too.
Pearson is an excellent professor. He has a great sense of humor and always makes the class interesting and fun. He always provides good feedback on your papers. He is also a lenient grader. If you are going to take a philosophy class, I would highly recommend him to you. He appreciates the time and value of the class.
A very good and caring person. Class is always interesting. I took him a year ago, and he is one of my favorite professors; never is a class boring. You will learn a lot from him!
Get ready to buy like 5 books. He tries to make most of them really affordable & will expect you to read all of them throughout the semester. Only has 4 grades & one of them is attendance. Doesn't post grades. Midterm & Final are literally writing like 6 mini essays about the books so if you don't read them throughout the semester.. good luck.
This class involved a lot of reading and participation, but Dr. Pearson made it interesting and entertaining. The class is graded in four different areas equally: attendance and participation, research paper, midterm, and final. I would recommend this class to anyone going into the medical field! This is not an easy A class but you will learn a lot
Pearson was an interesting teacher. His lectures were fun, but there is so much reading material. He tells you that you wont pass if you dont read, but I hardly did. I did the bare minimum and managed to get a B on the midterm and final which were all open-ended questions. Also 12 page paper, finished it 2 days before and got an A tho.
It should be mandatory you take Pearson, otherwise you won't learn. He makes class very interesting and fun. This guy is awesome
All hail Pearson the best professor worldwide. Philosophy majors need to take him, it is vital to your success. He is an excellent mentor who actually cares.
He a funny man. He nice too
Extraordinary in excellence. He is the man.
I like to make a tea before coming to class, because the lectures are so awesome. I wish I could have taken him for more classes the past year. Pearson is the man.
He is my hero. I recommend taking him for all your philosophy classes. He is never boring, always interesting lectures you can apply in real life.
Very good teacher and is always interesting
He is easy to get along with. He is also funny at times, but the lectures are interesting. I always leave class with lessons to learn from his lectures. Very inspirational man indeed
Only the very best of the best here. Excellent in every aspect
The best teacher on the planet
He actually cares about his students and their well-being during this time. He is always so interesting to hear on his lectures and via e-mail. The best professor at this university, no questions asked.
lectures very interesting but they could get a little long. encourages you buy all the books he assigns, for my class it was like 6 but got away with not reading at all just taking as much as i could out of his lectures & notes. also assigned a 15pg research paper so be aware if you dont like writing. he only lowered it to 10 bc of corona....
Very good Professor, super understanding and helpful beyond the classroom. Attendance is mandatory but he accepts excused absences. Midterm and final are open ended response. The books he assigns are all going to be needed to get an A in this class.
This course inspired me to switch my minor to Medical Humanities, and its all thanks to Dr. Pearson. He is an excellent professor; his lectures are not boring at all, he's entertaining, and the few times we had assignments they were super easy. Be prepared to read, though. Attendance isnt mandatory but you'll miss out on info if youre absent. 10/10
Dr. Pearson is incredible! The way he's able to make lectures based on complex philsophical subjects easy to understand is remarkable. I never once felt lost in his class and he definitely cares for his students. If you're into philosophy, go with him. I highly recommend it.
I had the pleasure of taking Pearson for my freshman year. I'm not going to lie, I struggled incredibly but that was because I didn't read any of the textbooks. However, I studied the maximum of 6 hours when it came to his tests. He was my favorite class ever and if I had the opportunity to take him again I would. He is understanding and caring.
Dr. Pearson is great! He makes lectures feel like the plotlines of stories sometimes--there is always a natural progression to them. You forget to take notes because you want to follow along and listen (but take notes though, you'll need them). Gives 2 tests, a midterm and a final. His tests are info-heavy, but somehow fun. Would 100% take again.
Religious Diversity in the Global Community was the best class I have ever taken. It's a lot of fun and applicable to all aspects of life. It will change your perspective on the world for the better, and you will expand your horizons on topics of culture, religion, language, and government. I got a B cause I procrastinated on writing the essays.
