OK...great class...if you cant do well in his class..drop out of college....his class..is the most easiest class...i looked forward to his class...you have to do 2 speeches and a final...and you choose....he speaks his mind.and that makes it more fun...take it for the heck of it..
class is kinda boring, but its easy. if u want 2 kno the basis of ur grade u wont really get it. Good speakers take the class!
he's boring.
I am taking his class this semester. Does anyone know more about this guy? You comments are greatly appreciated.
This class is fairly easy compare to the rest of Baruch. He talks a lot of current event which makes it interesting. Learn how to over come fear with practice speaking in front of class. Nice dude.
wow barely did anything was absent like 10 times and he gave me a great grade this guy is the man... for all those people who gave him bad ratings they probably had a differnt professor take this guy hes awesome.
you gotta be dumb not to do well in his class. Its so easy its not even funny. Just come to class make something up...and bs through the speech...if you can go clubbing and dance with strangers, talkking in front of 10 people should be nothing. I dont know how anyone could write up something bad about him...he is reaaaaally cool and easy grader.
He should not be teaching. And he talks, talks and talks boring stuff FOEVER!!!!! Class is very disorganized, and he doesn't care about your efforts. He is too busy with his company. DO not take him!!!
He is a really good teacher, he gives you helpful comments on your speeches and is a fair graded. Come prepared to give your speech and make sure the composition is good and youll get an A. take him. interesting class btw too never boring.
ok whoever said 'bad' and gave him low ratings must be mentally challenged...because this prof. is awesome! one of the best at baruch i think, because he not simply easy, you do ur speeches and you do them fairly well and he'll give u a good grade besides tht he is such an intelligent prof., made a 3 hr class interesting, he's nice & helpful
This guy talks way too much. Class is 3hrs long and he talks about politics & current events for 2 1/2 hrs. The last 1/2 hr is dedicated to student speeches in which he would interrupt to talk more about politics. Once he talked for the entire class and left us with literally 8 min. to do the quiz (although his quizzes are super easy).
Less Communications and more Politics. Loved his lectures but I was hardly there in class. Just came for the quiz and the speeches. Easy to get a B but very difficult to get higher than a B+.
Had him for a three hr class on a friday but he made the best out of it.Pretty wacky guy makes the class go somewhat faster but still 3 hrs. easy quizes and final really is a joke but still have to really well on speeches to get higher than a B+ in his class
Allright, another liberal from Baruch. However his classes are fun. Tests are SUPER EASY and overall not a bad person. If you can stand up in front of a class you will pass, if you can speak if front youll get at least a B. Also be conservative and youll piss him off.
The class was highly disorganized, the texts and his lecture were useless. He talked too much about current events, which gave not enough time to practice delivering speeches. There isn't really anything to learn. A very hard grader - the most you'll get on your speeches would be like a B+. Occasionally few easy quizzes.
Funny man! Class was cool,i actually enjoyed listening to his anti-Bush comments more than instructions on doing speeches. I would totally reccomend him as class is not hard at all and he is understanding and interesting to listen to. dont be scared at the first class, hes actually a great professor
Awesome professor! Not only he's interesting to listen to but he makes the speeches a breeze and doesn't stress you out about it just leaves it at your pace. Highly recommended!
Awesome professor, enjoyed his teachings and got rid of my public speaking fear because of him.
reading new york times paper ever tues, several quizs on it.2 tests and 4 speeches. get at least B if you can speak infront of class. easy on B , hard on A.
HE HATES BUSH. He's a tough cookie. Last reviewer is spot on. It's almost impossible to get lower than a B and its almost impossible to get an A on the speeches. Only gives the A to the hot girl of the class. Basically easy on B hard on A. He just admitted it today. Loves to whine about politics. Once he gets going...omg. Overall very annoying..
He loves politics and very passionate about informing his students about things.
He is a hard core teacher. Prepare thoroughly for the three main speeches, participate every once in a while. Some terms of the thirty-three page keyterms are common sense, but good to know. Look them over before attempting to take the test without at least looking at it. Make an effort to be one of the few to go first for the speeches.
Horrible professor. Keeps on blabbing for years. Had him on Fri for 3 hrs straight and talked for @ least 2.5 hrs - mostly about his biased and political views. ALso, a harsh grader. Impossible to get As unless you are his yes man.
if you want to learn comm or speeches, dont take him. u wont learn a thing from this guy. he only talks and talks until you doze off, man. and u better dont challenge his views, lol, he might yell and fail u in the end, you never know, man.
He does talk a lot but I find some of the things that he say to be interesting. He's not one of those professors where you walk in the class and your body gets all stiff. He has a very enthusiastic voice and very loud too. Overall, I'd say he is good.
This professor does not only teach you communication skills, but many practical things in life. You won't find another wonderful professor like him at Baruch. However, as he said at the beginning of the semester, it is extremely to get an A or A-, but he rarely gives you a grade lower than B-.
Alright well, i have a friday class with this man. It is three hours, he talks about random facts (which are for the most part interesting) for 2/ 2.25. He is biased, he is unorganzed. We never used the textbook in class, and when i mean never i mean NEVER required it. It never saw the light of day. 2 final speeches and a test. Did not enjoy this
I wish the professor was not so critical of my speeches. I know that he wants us to make good speeches, but it is very hard for a beginner. If you like to listen to long lectures, then I would recommend the class. But if you don't like sitting through 2+ hours of lecture and memorizing speeches then I don't recommend you take this class.
EASY B+, but won't learn a thing
unfair, worst teacher ever. very biased, uneducational class
Professor Pison is an experienced and extremely intelligent man, he looks at the big picture and gives information which hard to distinguish on yourown. His course prepares students for the real life and helps you to open your eyes on what is really going on in the country. I think he is a great teacher and it's easy to get a good grade in his cla
Great Professor. If you willing to get usefull in the future knowledge you should take him! Over the course I openede my eyes on a lot of things reguarding our media and government. He is fun and makes class enjoyable! If you looking for an easy "just to get through" class I wouldn't recommend it, but if you r an intelligent person, take this class
All I have to say is if you love learning new words, this class is perfect for you! He quized the class on 23 pages of vocabulary.
Very smart, intelligent man. Even if you don't improve your public speaking (highly unlikely), you'll learn a lot of what real world and politics is all about, which is extremely interesting. My critical thinking skills at least doubled with him. You'll have 5 speeches, not very difficult, and quite amusing. Ask him for personal feedback.Recommend!
If you're forced to take his class because every other class is full, then it's not the worst thing in the world, but if you have a choice to take anyone else AVOID.
Good, prof. Seems overwhelming at first (with all the vocabulary words, assignments, etc) but you can get an A if you apply yourself. Participate in the class discussion,it helps your grade. Speeches are the most important. He gives good feedback, make sure you ask for it. Likes to talk but he's a smart guy, and if you listen you will learn a lot.
He sux. Very biased and loves politics and overanalyzing crap. I think he needs to breathe and teach more and stop blabbing about his own biased stuff.
Easy B, hard A. He just talks about things that are pretty interesting, but totally not related to class. He under-emphasizes the tests, making it seem easy and nothing to worry about and people end up not knowing anything about it unless they read the book. He has favorites.
you can find pretty interesting things from him. fair grader.
He talks waaay too much. He is very picky about what he wants in speeches, to me he never seemed satisfied, no one had a "perfect" speech, according to him. You do learn a lot from him talking all day. Exams were easy. I did't get the grade I wanted, but he DOES grade fairly.
Avoid! Assigns way too much work and readings. He uses class as a stage to advertise his leftist leanings and never shuts up about politics. God forbid if you disagree with him. You really do not learn anything in his class about making a speech because he is doing all the talking. If you can avoid.
Took his class this spring, if you are interested in politics and current events which you should be since you are in college definitely take him! He is very helpful and gives detailed feed backs , helps you build confidence, which is the most important thing you need to become a good public speaker. Teaches you how to be skeptical and critical.
Great class. Very helpful and interesting. Take him, he is a lot of fun)
Fun class. Fair grader...
Yeah, he talks a lot about politics, but the class was pretty easy. Most importantly, he won't make you feel stupid if your speech is not perfect. Instead he talks to each student personally who wants to know how they did in the end of class. He won't critisize you in front of students and overall he's a nice guy. I'm glad I took the class.
Professor Pison is a MARVELOUS professor!! he shows a great amount of interest for his students! I went into his class afraid to speak in public, and i left his course feeling like a paid advertiser! I used his advice and long talks after class.. and i gave a phenomenal presentation! This guy Knows his Stuff! it was a pleasure attending his class!
Great professor! Put a little effort and you can get A- to A
3 tests and 5 speeches. It hard to to get an A, but its not impossible. Im ESL student and I got A, even my English is poor. And I fail firs test. He gives a test and answers week before the test.
Fair grader .. light work load .. interesting class .. i recommend ..
Dr. Pison is an easy professor. He gave my class 5 speeches each. He will criticize you, but he won't embarrass you in front of the class. Study for your midterm and final. He is a very generous grader. Also talks politics ALOT (Conservatives, pick another professor)!
i usually don't trust prof's ratings. i love informative lectures on politics. but his lectures are anything but interesting.mostly talks about various conspiracy theories on such topics as gas price and aliens. he does not remember what he talked about in last class so he repeats himself alot. so if you are serious about learning i'd think twice.
His lectures have little if anything to do with giving speeches so you kind of have to adapt to what he wants over the course of the class. Always be one of the first people to volunteer to give your speech, always time your speeches so you don't go over or under, and always come to class.
Professor Pison is one of the best professors I ever met. So much useful information! One how to speech; and three more speeches on one topic, key terms test, midterm and final (he gives everything beforehand for review). I loved his lectures! Those who got his advise, will get a perfect job for sure.
I found the lectures extremely interesting. If you take the time to ask for help you'll get it, no questions asked. The midterm and final have HUGE curves, leaving the four 3-6 minute speeches as the graded part of the class. Definitely recommended you'll learn a lot
This class is an easy A. The professor is an awesome guy. He talks for half the class about things going on in the world. He is very easy going and laid back. He takes attendance, but I don't think he really counts it. There are three speeches in the class, and no written parts. Take him if you can!
He taught me a lot!!! I took his course last semester, and now every single prof says that my presentation skills are excellent. Thank you Prof Pison
One of the few brilliantly engaging modern members of thinking professors at Baruch College. He will keep your mind alert with his propensity for topical ideas and discussion.
ESL students should take him;if you don't completely read off the cue cards, least you can get is B.I don't know if he gives A to anyone but he didn't grade anyone less than B. He's an intelligent guy.At first I thought 3hour class and he doesn't allow laptops would have been boring but I never felt sleepy there. He talks a lot but it's interesting
Your public speaking skills and final test grade are what matters in this class so good luck getting an A if you're not a good public speaker. I got a B in every single speech but still managed to get an A in the class because of the final. You don't learn much by going to class but your public speaking skills improve a lot.
Pison is a really good teacher. Pay attention to what he says and you'll leave the class with a better understanding of the world.
Dr. Pison is extremely keen in bringing awareness to young students that are not paying attention to the global current affairs. He will summarize the week news, and yes, he repeats himself in order to make you think more constantly about the issues that really matters - which isn't included in your Facebook news feed! Take him if you want to learn
he has a very specific expectation of what defines a good public speaker. In a class learning to publically speak I don't think there should be individuals who receive average grades because we're learning how to. But whatever, I would not recommend this guy.
Professor is very smart and talks about the politics entire class. There is 5 oral presentations what helped me improve my oral skills. Vocabulary quize-34pg of words to remember(a lot). Class is not easy, but you can get an A.
he is very intelligent, tells you what's really going on in the world, talks for every minute of the class about world govts. his instructions are unclear (esp about dept. stuff like journals) and gives important directions as if they're side comments (very confusing) doesn't remember students' names..
A strict grader when it comes to speeches. But the midterm and final are fairly easy if you study for it.
Guys this is a very cool professor. If you are study in business major, this professor would be right for you. He is talking about politic and economy which is very helpful for your other classes. He is easy A and very kind. Very respectful for each student. Just take him and you would never regret.
Very good professor
His lectures are really interesting, nothing to do with communications most of the time, but he says some real eye opening stuff. Make sure you prepare for all your speeches multiple times and go over the test banks and the required article readings for the midterm and final. A is possible, just make sure you check the online syllabus frequently.
Website is a mess, terrible professor who is very biased and talks about crap throughout most of the lecture. I dropped the class but lots of people enjoyed it so if you like an easy/stupid COMM 1010 class take him.
Brilliant, hilarious guy. Take the time to build a relationship with him; it'll pay off in the long run. Pison is intelligent, helpful, and kind. If you ask for help, it's there - but he makes you work for the grade. It's a very intellectually-stimulating class, but like someone else wrote, an A is possible.
Pison is a very interesting professor. People either HATE him or LOVE him. His lectures are long but they are very interesting. If you pay attention, he will tell you exactly what you need to do to get a good grade and you will also learn a lot about the hidden agendas of leaders around the world. 3 speeches, one quiz, midterm, final.
By the way he lectures in class, you can see that he is a great public speaker. Everything he says makes you pay attention, it's relatable, and he teaches you a lot about the world while incorporating that with communication. He is doing goodwill by preparing you for life. Respect for this professor.
This professor, though brillant in his own right should not be a communication professor. Most of his lectures are based in Politics with emphasis on his personal opinions and biases. I dropped the course as I did not believe he was teaching me the things needed for me to exceed in this course
The professor uses this class as a soapbox to talk about conspiracy theories. He assigns poorly written articles that do not pertain to communications. Barely tries to teach, instead he rambles about how "the man" is out to get you for hours. He does not provide clear directions for the speeches, does not teach communications, AVOID.
This class is a joke. I'm currently writing this review in class and doesn't even notice. He does not stop talking though, to the point where he's frothy from a dry mouth. Wanna learn about communication? Don't take him. Just a prerequisite? Absolutely. Gives you the test bank for mid term and final with answers and there are several speeches
No class participation, cus he talks about his personal views on corruption in banks and trump. The midterm/final (txtbook and articles about politics) basically determines your grade, not the speeches. Doesnt go over txtbook. I only did well on my speeches cuz I learned before in hs. You're on your own. Got 9/10 on speeches, but a B in the class.
This professor literally never stops talking. While giving a speech, before you even finish getting your thought out, he has already interrupted, and gone on a tangent about how 9/11 is a conspiracy theory and how your speech sucks. This is discouraging. He tries to give constructive feedback but often it comes off as rude and condescending.
He "teaches as a way to keep his speaking skills sharp." Spends ALL CLASS, EVERY CLASS talking about politics. He will not stop talking. Please stop him and make sure your class has enough time for speeches. My class had to rush a 50 question final in 40 minutes because he spent our speech time ranting. Choose another professor if at all possible.
Gave him a 4 even though he should really get a 3 but here's why: He rambles about politics, his personal life, and sciencedaily. com all day every day, but if you just sit there and do the minimal, he will give you an A. He says it himself. Take him in the summer so you don't suffer though LOL
Easy A if you do all the assignments on time. Exams are straight from his lectures or test sample questions! Exemplifies textbook terms through topical subjects--have to be paying attention to realize; Brings light to communicational fallacies in modern events that are beyond headlines; Enforces the art of communication be used ethically! Take!
This is genuinely an easy A course. Some tips: volunteer to be the first to perform your speech--he'll give you a 9/10 even if you sucked; memorize the Q/As from his test banks to get an easy A on his exams. If you prefer your politics conservative, skip. Though he does provide opportunities to argue, so if you think you're Ben Shapiro, go for it.
Super cool teacher who will make sure you learn how to get rid of stage fright. Very nice and supper informed person.10/10 Very happy with the class experience Stop thinking about it and just sign up
Most of his classes are just talks about politics. It is really enjoyable though because the three hours pass by quickly. He is good at making you confident with stage fright. Public speaking is not my strength and I still received an A for the class. Make sure to do the presentations on time and follow what he wants on them.
This class overall is an easy A. Professor will tell you to want you exactly where to go to look at his midterm and final exam question (although it has a lot for each chapter, just memorize it). There are few speeches in which you can always just read the introduction by looking at your paper. Now, cons: Um, Professor talks a lot about politics a
not an easy A at all...... also talks TOO MUCH about things irrelevant to the course and half the class always ends up leaving to give themselves their own breaks because he's unbearable. also the midterm and final are long and have so many articles to know, but he'll only mark a question right if it seems right to him, not the article (uh????????)
Pison is very vocal about his political opinions and 90% of the time he talks about his hatred for Trump, but it's an easy A to get if you go to every class and make sure you present on the first possible day. Additionally, try to talk to him after class about anything, he likes it and he'll boost your grade in the class. Classes were 3 hours long.
Talks too much about irrelevant things and claims it's relevant because of...I don't even know, it never makes sense. Need to read a bunch of (also useless) articles for the midterm. Multiple choice questions and like 10 short responses. You'll probably fail tbh, good luck
Talks nonstop about current events, especially the presidency. However there is never a dull moment in his class. He is usually direct with what he wants for presentations. I suggest volunteering to be the first one even if you're not confident because he creates a supportive environment in class. If you need help w/ public speaking take Pison.
He literally does not stop talking about politics and current events and it was a 3 hour long class. Midterm and finals are MC just read over all the questions he posts on his website and read all the articles. But he only marks a question correct if its correct to him he literally makes no sense.
Prof. Pison is very enthusiastic about politics and conspiracy theories. He is very adamant that when he gives you directions for speeches that you do not deviate from his instructions, easy A if you can deal with his daily news rants which he makes very fun to listen to. I recommend him over any other comm 1010 instructor. Be the first to go.
don't take him unless you think yourself a slave
Take it for credit; not enjoyable
Professor gives an A if you volunteer first. He is very easy going. If you are not ready the first week he lets you go the next week. His exam is easy multiple choice question and he tells you specifically what questions are on the exam. Very nice professor. He helps you out if you do not understand. The only downfall is he talks about politics.
Take him if you want an easy A. He takes time after class to explain anything you do not understand. Very helpful. He gives a lot of A's even if you do not deserve it. He speaks a lot about politics but you just have to have patience. He's hilarious, makes you laugh. He gives a review of the questions that come in the exam. Easy A. Take him
Very long lectures. He will go on and on about his political views. You will find yourself sitting for an hour listening to him speak about something probably related to class, but unable to connect how it is. Important ideas: Trump, Ukraine, Time is money. Great at giving feedpback when writing speeches. He will give a lot of useful tips.
He gives you so many things to read, more than you can imagine. his syllabus is messy, unclear. He put so many hot-links in and always changes his syllabis. He doesn't know how to communicate with his students. I sent emails about questions he always reply "read" "read" and "read". if English is not your first language , be careful!!
Dr. Pison has good intentions, but sitting through his class was the most agonizing part of my entire semester. His syllabus and assignments are incredibly unclear and he rambles on and on about things entirely unrelated to the course. He seems to be an easy grader, but for anyone who cares about organization, this class will be unbearable.
Professor Pison is GREAT! Ignore the reviews on here theyre very misleading. His lectures are interesting, yes he speaks quite a bit but its a public speaking class. The work he assigns is easy as well, he's lieutenant when he grades your speeches and makes your feel comfortable. If you take his advice, and go to class youll get an A!
He will easily give you an A if you do his work. Easy grader when it comes to the speeches (gives an A if you participate first) and test are pretty easy too. Yeah he talks a lot, but that's only because he's giving important info of what is happening in our wold today, he wants to make us wear and that's one of the best things someone can teach u
Took him over the summer for COM 1010 and I genuinely enjoyed his class. He does talk about politics and current events a lot, but he won't test you on any of it. You should listen to what he says though because he shares some interesting info and he's a very intelligent guy. It's honestly an easy A class, take him if you can!!!
His class is so easy to pass you just have to show up, participate, and do the work. Its a COM class so you have to give presentations and speak in from of the class so get used to it. I enjoyed the class expect his lectures. They are so long and boring and he always mentions Trump. I would be aware but its an easy class so you choose
Tbh, I rarely ever listen to him. The dude rambles about politics for a majority of the class, and will always find a way to link whatever he says to politics. Wants to encourage participation but spends about 10 mins responding to someone and then moves on so there's no way to talk tbh. Don't take him unless you actually want to listen to politics
Dr. P taught me patience, pain, and the power of silence. For a communication class, that might sound illogical, but communication is a two-way street. Learning to listen is invaluable. After all, if you're not listening, aren't you just talking to yourself? Thanks, Dr. P. Your 'pep-talks' meant more to me than you'll ever know.
This class is fairly easy. Most of the work in this class is weekly homework of short summaries. Other than that there is the speeches. If you take the feedback that he gives you to improve on your speeches and study the textbook/study guide then you won't have a problem getting an A.
He is very lenient on grading and gives grades more on effort shown+improvement. Rambles about politics sometimes for a while, but he still gets his teaching done. I could have gotten an A if I tried harder but to be honest, the online classes are killing me. He is really bad at technology as well. Messes up with emails, zoom controls. Great guy tho
Dr pison is one of the most knowledgeable people Ive encountered He will open your eyes up to politics and is definitely very blunt about his Facts backed beliefs Definitely glad I took him during these times where theres a lot of political uncertainty Other than that he teaches you about a lot of things Will make you a better communicator
Unprofessional and judgemental professor
Easy class but hes literally an ass.
HARD PASS. good luck making sense of his syllabus, he doesn't use blackboard at all, he uses HIS OWN website( eyeroll) instead of things already available to students. he made it way too confusing. there are way better profs who don't make this class intimidating. dropped it right away and now i have a straight forward prof. AVOID
Took him during the summer and he was very clear on what he wanted. Doesn't use blackboard until it was time for the final and has his own website where he updates his syllabus. Easy A if you do the work and volunteer first and there was only like one presentation you had to do.
The way he emails and stuff sound a lot scarier than he actually is. Hes very generous with grades and lenient with due dates. Hes also very passionate and knowledgeable but can go overboard. Sometimes on presentation days hed speak for 30 minutes before anyone actually started presenting. Overall, a nice, understanding guy though.
Honestly a very easy going class. I don't know why people gave him bad reviews. He's a little all over the place but do the work (which is very light) and you'll pass. Lenient with due dates so you do have extra time to work on heavier classes. He's really helpful with giving feedback, super detailed about the feedback.
One of the most mind-bogglingly self-absorbed people I've ever met. Goes on three hour rants about how terrible Trump is (I agree, don't get me wrong), but here's the punchline: he's a republican! Dismissed every word I said, and just wanted to hear his own voice. I couldn't mentally handle being in that class for three hours straight.
Truly a class act! Such an inspirational human over all with a world of knowledge. He truly teaches you about the world and helps open your eyes to current events
The class assignments and tests are overall manageable. The professor is very knowledgeable about politics. So if you like listening to politics you should think about joining this class. As long as you do all the work, and attend all lectures you will pass.
It's true that he can speak for hours about politics. Nothing bad, always be first to present and do talk to him after class before doing your speeches. He's very helpful in what to include in your speech. He's hard to reach through emails, so best to talk to him after class. Understands that we are new to public speaking and lenient with grading.
He is an interesting man to say the least. He is very umm passionate about his beliefs and will make sure you know them for sure. His class is very easy its not like you do anything regardless all he does is talk. I would just say good luck to the freshman that get placed in this class.
AVOID. The syllabus is an unsecured website (a blank wall of unformatted text) Rants about trump for 3/4 of the lecture time, Confusing, contradicting, uses a random gmail he made, doesn't stop talking, please don't take this class. it's is easy but so not worth it. If u don't wanna get misgendered avoid. he doesn't have malintent but it happens
Overall, this class is good. He is a fair and easy grader and doesn't expect much. His lectures are heavy meaning that he spends half not if most of the class time talking about politics and other things. His syllabus is hard to navigate since he has his own website for it.
I don't even know where to start. He is a very well educated man with lots of topics to have a conversations with. His class is very easy and very fun, he loves to talk about politics and gives his honest opinion on those he admires and hates in politics. He can be harsh on comments based of students but he is a great professor.
The most interesting professor I ever had. He's a knowledgeable man, very opinionated, talks a lot, but it's an easy A. Weekly summaries from ScienceDaily, midterm, & final (both online). The review questions are just like the exams. Just sit through it & hear him giving his opinion for a whole class, you'll be just fine... I found it entertaining.
The professor isn't too bad if you just do the work. It's just a little boring listening to him rant everyday. Some topics are interesting. Some are boring.
He talks nonstop about his own opinions and trump. He rants the entire hour about whatever he feels like. He honestly only grades off exams and nothing else.
Has no organization or lesson plan for any of the lectures. Literally improvises every class and talks about whatever he wants, the topics he chooses have nothing to do with the textbook content. The textbook is free thankfully. Tests are not hard, syllabus is a nightmare to look through due to the format and professor rarely answers emails.
Terrible professor. His lectures had nothing to do with what was tested or even related to the class. He just went off on political tangents and gave you the most arbitrary grade.
Great!!!! He may go on rants about politics for the majority of the class, but he is an overall intelligent professor. He give constructive feedback on all presentations which helps improve your performance for a better grade. Pison gives homework but he doesn't check it lol, and is very lenient and understanding when it comes to late assignments.
4 speeches, and the prof is a super lenient grader. In the lectures he mostly talks about current politics, imo it was very interesting. Free textbook. I felt like the class was organized well. He's not too tech savvy, so if you have a question, ask in person. Does not use Blackboard (unless for exams). Great communications prof :D
Professor Pison is okay. His lectures are about political topics mostly so if you're not into politics stay away from his class. Midterm and Final are online, 3 major speeches you must give and a few homework assignments here and there. He's very passionate about the news and encourages you to go out and explore New York. Overall very easy class.
His class is really easy for the most part, he is obsessed about Trump despite his opinions and knowledge being one-sided. However, I wished he would've spent more time ranting about how to give a speech instead of Trump. He is also a tough grader and mostly everyone got an A- for every speech but the midterm and final is an easy A.
If you see this name, run. Maybe because the debate and election are coming up, but his politicial rants are not relevant to the course at all. He was slamming the white boards and went off on insane tangents about Trump, IVF and the media. I dropped this course immediatley even though I need it to graduate.
New student here Most of these comments are either exaggerated or irrational. He does speak on trump but it's not as bad as the comments make it seem he speaks on trumps faults/flaws.him just simply speaking to us and not constantly giving us information from textbooks makes the class bearable. He's a lenient grader and midterm is online+3-4 speeches
This class was quite an experience to say the least. He would often go on tirades about Trump claiming it was "topical" for 30 minutes at a time, used an outside Gmail to communicate and had the syllabus on an unprotected website. If it weren't because this was a prerequisite for me, I'd have left this class as soon as I saw how sketchy it all was.
Professor Pison's class is okay - a bit heavy on political rants, but the assignments are manageable. unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for speech prep and boosting my understanding of the textbook.
Pison's class was an interesting experience. He does rant about Trump, which I found entertaining, but the takeaway is the media's bias and its influence on public opinion.Very well-educated. Gives great feedback on speeches. 4 speeches, weekly summaries from ScienceDaily (cursive), Midterm & Final (online). If you have questions, ask him directly.
Doesn't provide clear feedback on speeches and frequently interrupts mid-speech to criticize. He yells at students for entering while someone else is speaking, claiming it's ‘interrupting a classmate,' yet he interrupts speeches himself. Talk about double standards. Also he does talk about Trump a lot which can become annoying.
This professor doesn't give us any directions, rants about things that are irrelevant to what we should be able to learn, which is communication. Instead, he just uses this course as an excuse to come up with conspiracy theories, and also, he gets upset at students for the smallest things and nitpicks small issues with our presentation.
I feel sorry for anyone who had this professor. Avoid him!
