He is very good. Love his demos. Makes learning fun.
Amazingly clear. Not only will you learn chemistry, but you will love chem after watching all his demonstrations. He will take the time to go over problems with you. Tests are very fair - just study the notes and do the sample problems from the book.

OK we all know how hard chemistry is, but Sangiorgi makes it a lot easier for somone to undrstand it. Demonstrations and explanations are really good. He can be picky on tests and stuff....but hey, it is Chemistry
what a total tool
Best Teacher! He makes Chemsitry fun. He made us icecream in class.
He is the BEST, yes I mean best proffesor I have ever had. Not only does he make chem fun, intresting (yes the ice cream was pretty cool) but hes also always willing to help. He gets a little moody but I guess hes intitled. Either way I loved his class!!!!
He is the best teacher ever. He may write alot of notes but they will help you. All you have to do is study his notes and you will pass his test. He is easy to understand.
Hes not as good as everyone here says. He's ok. Just an average teacher. Boring class. Hes a textbook kind of teacher. Does nothing innovative or different. He is moody. Tests are hard. Doesnt review. Doesnt like to give examples of test questions. Picky grader. If u dont like chem avoid this class at all costs.
He's okay I guess. He's better than a lot of other Chem prof but he would be an EXCELLENT teacher if he adjusted his attitude. He's so condescending, pompus & impatient. He has his day's where he can be a sweetheart but overall he is very unapproachable. If you're a Chem wiz take this class, if not run the other way & take a prof who will help you.
This professor is amazing. I just don't the last 2 reviewers opinions- he is funny, kind and stays after class to help out students. His demonstrations make the class very interesting - he even made ice cream in class with liquid nitrogen and put on a light show! His tests are fair if you do your work. Highly recommended.
Great professor. He makes the material very easy to understand, and writes everything you need to know clearly on the board. He also does some cool experiments in class, such as the ice cream as others mentioned. One complaint about the class would be the labs - they were too far ahead of the lectures.
Absolutely amazing. Lectures are as clear as they can possibly be. Just amazing. Impressive. Amazing! ^_^
I thought he was a horrible teacher. He flies through the material, doesnt like to answer questions, is unapproachable and when he does take the time to answer a question he makes you strugle coming up with the answer. Obvisley if your asking a question you dont know the answer and you need help. I would not recomend this prof at all. Unfortinitley he is one of the only ones who teach it.
He is AWESOME!! Had him in HS and he is just the best best best. I wish all of my professors can be like him. He loves what he teaches, he wants you to learn and is always willing to help. Excellent. Don't take any other professor, with him, you learn and get the best grade.

Prof.sangiorgi is an Excellent teacher. He is not a moody person, he is very passionate about his subject. He works very hard to teach the material as clearly as possible. He does great demos and keeps the class interested. His exams are challenging but if you do your work there should be no problem getting a high grade. I highly recommend this p
Hard as hell. Don't take him if you want an A, unless you're a genius, or like studying chemistry like a madman for 4 months. 2 hard midterms, 6 quizzes, and a cummulative final. Labs hw's are hard too. He lets the class out 10 minutes late every week in a 3 hr class! He does know his stuff and u learn alot but its hard.
He is NOT a good teacher. He writes everything on the board and doesnt explain anything. Doesnt allow any make up exams if you ask him a question he says "hold questions FOLKS you can ask me after a 3 hour lecture". With chem you need to understand the material. He's not good at all. My advise RUN unless you are really good at chem.
Prof. Sangiorgi is simply the best. The negative comments below are probably from poor students who won't graduate. Prof. S. clearly explained everything, provided me with great notes, and gave very fair tests based on notes and homework (not to mention great demos!). He stayed over an hour after class once to answer my questions. That's dedication
he was a great teacher and explained everything very very well... he gave you everything you needed to know for ur quizzes and exams. just do the questions he gives u for practice...they really help if you do them...
He explains everything when he teaches lab. I felt like I actually knew what was going on. Wish he taught the lecture this semester; I learned more from him in lab than Zambrana in class.
umm lets jus say he's a real inconsiderate person...his class is okay, he rushes, he doesnt explain well.
He's a great teacher. This was the third time I took Chem, and I understood it this time. Explains the material very well, makes the class easy, fun and interesting. Absolutely the best prof out there, higly recommended.
Highly recommended. Explains the material in detail. 6 quizes but drops the lowest two. vey funny. You will enjoy him.
took him earlier this semester. If you like to copy pages of power point notes and at the same time listen to him speak then this is your man. Otherwise if you want things explained and dont want to do 50 problems for homework dont pick this professor. that is all.
One of the best profs in queens college. Lectures are interesting, funny, and very clear. Take good notes and do the problems that he gives for HW.He makes everything so clear and easy. The best part was the ice cream he made from liquid nitrogen. I would take him again if only he was teaching another Chem class.
I love him. Super cool and hot!
Great teacher. Made chemistry EASYYYY. Def take him if u can!!!!
Awesome teacher!! Explains everything wonderfully. Very helpful. Funny and cool guy. Definately take him if you have the opportunity.
Professor Sangiorgi is seriously THE BEST !!! He is an amazing teacher and is very clear about everything. He relates a lot of the topics to real life situations which make chemistry easier to understand. I definitely recommend him to everyone. You will learn a lot and get a good grade :)
prof. sangiorgi is a fantastic teacher. he is very clear and coherent and easy to understand. he makes chemistry interesting and fun. if you pay attention and study there's no way you won't do well.
i have this guy for recitation, lab and lecture he expects ALOT. this is just a basic course but he makes it so HARD!!6 quizzes, 2 exams ,and i final, and oh yea everyday in lab you get a quiz
awful professor extremely unhelpful
Good Professor, teaches material in a matter you can understand. Requires work and effort, but it pays off. Do work and attend ALL his lectures and you'll receive a good grade. Recommend taking it with him
You better not ask him any question during exams, he makes you feel like a dumb. He takes off points from little mistakes in the exams. F's and C's- are high in this class and Fnes majors are kicked out from program for a C-. If most of the students laugh at his stupid jokes ok but you won't laugh again when your grade is lower than you expected.
Not going to lie, he knows his stuff and he's pretty clear when he teaches but if you're looking for a professor who cares whether you pass or not, he's not the professor to take. He doesn't care about his students at all.
He is crystal clear and excellent at teaching.
The best science professor I have yet had at Queens College. He explains everything in a way you can understand instead of just reading off the slides. Very clear, exams are ok, definitely need to dedicate enough time for this class. Definitely recommend if you want to understand the material.
Best professer.. Take him if you don't know anything about chemistry, he will make you love chemistry...
he doesn't care about his students at all, he doesn't curve either. go for morris, she is way better!!!! and I'm a straight A student. u have to dedicate a lot of time in his class but how can u possibly do that when u have other classes
Good teacher, horrible attitude! Very arrogant and doesnt care about his students. Participate in clas or e will lose his temper. Test are straighforward, easy material. Go to class (although it is hard to sit through) and you should do great!
If you have to take chem,Sangiorgi is the way to go.he explains everything clearly so that you will understand. he gives tests and quizzes but if you study and know the what he taught in class you will do well.yes, you will have to put in work. but Sangiorgi makes the class interesting, engaging, and understandable(even for s/o like me who hates chem)
One of the best professors in Chem. He loves what he does and makes the material clear and even takes time to show experiments in class. You do have to go to lecture and dedicate the appropriate time to study. His exams are fair, study off his power points. Do this and you'll do fine.
Great professor, explains things very clearly and makes class interesting by making humorous remarks and showing experiments in class. . More than willing to help students IF he see's that you're trying. Really cool guy to talk to about things other than chemistry, down to earth. Would recommend if you're taking CHEM 101.
Sangiorgi is a great intro to chem professor especially if you need things repeated many times. He cares about what he teaches and is really good at it. His in class demos are really cool too!
Sangiorgi is probably the best chemistry professor in QC. He is extremely knowledgeable and you can clearly see that he loves what he does for a living. He is also the fastest grader I've ever seen, exams are graded in class. Study his powerpoints bc that's where his quizes and exams come from. Actually do the homeworks and you should be good.
He is one of the best chemistry professors at queens college. He makes EVERY topic easy to understand and applies it to the real world. He gives a lot of funny/interesting examples but one has to do the assigned practice problems to excel in this class. Exams are from his PowerPoint slides mostly. He makes the class so much fun, so DO take him :)
Great guy, great professor. Knows his chemistry and does an excellent job of simplifying the material to a more understandable form. Try to answer the multiple choices questions on his exams first before going on to the short answer, they are worth more. All in all good experience with him, highly recommended.
Stay away from him, he knows his stuff but is a horrible proffesor. He is very impatient and gets aggravated when students start asking him questions. His tests and quizzes are hard and he only gives 50 minutes for his test. Which is horrible because that is not enough time. Take Valery Morris if you want to get a good grade.
Great professor. Really made chemistry simple and easy to understand. A three hour chemistry class on a Thursday night is obviously not ideal but Prof Sangiorgi tries to make it as enjoyable as possible with demonstrations and interesting stories and examples related to the topic at hand. I wish I could take all my sciences with him
I received the Cool Mad scientist Chem teacher experience because of Sangiorgi. His mnemonics are very helpful, and he shows experience in making a difficult subject entertaining and clear. He relates a lot of Chemistry to the health and fitness field, and provides practical application. This man wants you to understand Chem, and not just get a grade.
This professor probably gave himself all the good reviews seen here...he is horrible. Does not explain material clearly, gets frustrated if you ask for help, does not give enough time on tests (which include multiple choice and short answer, and math problems!) and takes off points for little things. He does not care if you pass. He does not curve
Professor Sangiorgi is an excellent professor. He explains the material well, provides helpful power points, and gives straight out questions on the exams. He answers emails fairly often and you can tell he wants his students to do well. His tests are fair, they are based on the online homework, powerpoints, and examples given in class.
Had him for lab and lecture. He's an amazing prof. Always replies to emails, tries to help the students in every way although asking him questions during classtime/breaks/exams are a no-no. Slides posted on online. Tough info packed class but teaches very very well. Interacts and always holds your attention. NOT an easy class! Study and do hw!
He certainly knows his material, but unfortunately he is ineffective when it comes to helping out his students... and his assumed perception that people will understand every thing that is taught in lecture is both frustrating and unfair. If you try your best, don't expect your efforts to be taken into account unless you are completely confident.
I really recommend takinjg this professor for Chemistry. He teaches well and very enthusiastic about it. He made want to learn more about Chemistry. He even did a cool presentation using liquid nitrogen. Yes he gives a lot of work but if you have a question, he will do it with you until you get it. Exams and quizzes are just like he says.
I am currently taking his basic chemistry summer class. I would not recommend it. The class is VERY fast paced. You cover a chapter every 2 days. You have a lab quiz every day and chapter lecture quizzes 1-2 times a week. He can also be rude and condescending. I don't recommend taking his class unless you are very good at chemistry.
Interesting lectures based on slides that he shares. Slides don't give you the whole picture though, so you need to show up to class and be sure to do the assigned HW probs if you want to do well. 6 quizzes and 3 exams (not too difficult, but can be lengthy for the time allotted). He's a great lab instructor too. No manual required. Take him!
If you have a cell phone, don't even think about using it in class, he kicks people out (including myself). However, he was such a clear and precise professor that all you had to do was the homework and attend as well as listen to the lectures and you'll definitely do well in the course.
Mr. Sangiorgi is probably the best professor I have ever had. He is enthusiastic, funny, smart, clear and concise. He is also no nonsense and makes you work, but he is very fair. I wish all my professors were like and am going to be very sad to not have him teach me anymore.
Prof. Sangiorgi is an innate teaching talent with his tenacity and awesome teaching skills gets through any topic. If you listen carefully to his lecture your guaranteed learning. In lab he is very methodically and clear on the topics to be learned. Can't wait to find more teachers like him!
Quizzes are harder than exams. Exams are pretty easy, MC and short answers. If you are struggling, you prob aren't going to lectures, doing ALEKS online HW, or reading his slides. Also, you don't really need the textbook, it's basic HS chem but faster. He was easy going and you can't be afraid to approach him for help (he can be moody sometimes).
Lecture is long but he gives breaks. Go to class, you will have a better understanding of the topics. Gives 4 quizzes drops the lowest one, quiz 2 the most difficult. Test 1&2 are mc & written (the easiest part), the final is pretty much the same just more mc. ALEKS hw is 30% of your grade make sure you do it on time.
He's an okay professor, just be prepared for lots of quizzes.
The best chemistry professor ever! Lecture is 3 hours but it goes by fast. He has a great sense of humor and if you work hard you will definitely get an A. I look forward to going to his class every week. There are 4 quizzes which are pretty easy and 3 tests which are a bit harder, but still easy. I can't wait to find more professors like him!
He is the BEST! Do yourself a favor and take his class. There are 4 quizzes and he drops the lowest one. There are 2 midterm exams and 1 final. Aleks is worth 30 percent so make sure you do it on time. If you do the practice problems in the textbook it will be very helpful for exams. He is so funny! TRUST ME, TAKE HIM!
He's funny but the curriculum isn't. The aleks HW is 30% but it takes 1 - 3 days to finish. The exams (30%) and final (30%), quizzes (10%). About 2 mins a q for exams except final. He teaches it one way & aleks teaches it another. Have fun getting confused in the learning process. Too much material for 1 course tbh. If youre non-major take geo 99.
The course is basically HS chem but faster. He is excellent at explaining concepts in class. Exams are very fair. If you are struggling, you prob aren't going to lectures, doing ALEKS online HW, or reading his slides. He was easy going and very approachable. He really cares about his students and has a great sense of humor.
His quizzes and tests are straight forward, no tricks no curveballs, all that was discussed during lectures, but if you don't study for them, will not be able to finish on time. Good professor, fair grader, fair tests, learned a lot from him. Love how he connects chemistry to everyday lives. (Just pay attention and know when to ask questions).
Extremely tough grader, you can loose points even if you forget to capitalize first letter. hours of aleks homework (30% of your grade). never responds emails. not helpful at all, no extra credits, make-ups, curves, etc. I took general chem I after finishing his class and it was much easier.
HE IS THE BEST CHEM PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER TAKEN! I WISH HE TAUGHT OTHER LEVELS BECAUSE HE WOULD HAVE SAVED MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He's fun! I learned alot in this class, 30% ALEKS HW (alot of HW) 10% Quizzes and the rest exams. Exams are timed and you have to hurry to get everything done, I feel like this class is for people who knows chemistry because HALF of people were failing since time was so short. He doesn't curve or gives extra credit, other than that he's great.
I don't think the class is fair. When you study hard, practiced all the questions, actually knows how to solve it, but not enough time to do the midterm, it's NOT FAIR. It's like why bother study? You won't have enough time to finish the test question anyway. Midterms is 35%, so you'll get a lower grade than what u deserve. Final is much easier.
This is a very good chem professor. I heard many good things about him. I got a C- in Chem last semester but this time I got an A. His test are fair. And he doesn't say they're fair and then its a whole other thing on the test. Whatever is in the slides are there. He teaches the material well. Take him. Class is long but you learn and will pass.
Having a good professor makes all of the difference. This was my 2nd time taking the course and I wish I had him the first time around as my grade drastically improved. Do aleks on time, take notes from the slides, study from that + participate during lecture. I feel he truly wants to see his students succeed and if you put in the work, you will!
Mr. Sangiorgi is an excellent teacher. He breaks down complicated concepts and makes them easy to understand. His Powerpoint slides and worksheets are really helpful too. I dropped this course last semester because I couldn't understand the teacher's lectures. Mr. Sangiorgi is so much better (the other teacher shall go unnamed).
He is a solid Gen Chem II recitation teacher. I have him for Ho's lecture class, and together they both prepared helpful material to help with quizzes. Sangiorgi takes it upon himself to make worksheets, break down further while being a humble professor. My grades have improved a lot, and I am very thankful. He's a lovely choice!
Professor Sangiorgi is a horrible professor. When you come into his class the first say he seems chill and so fun but in reality he doesn't care about his students and all he cares about is that his students learn a less. Having him as a teacher was one of the worst experiences I ever had in Queens College. I do not recommend for anyone.
He doesnt know how to teach. And when you ask for helo he literally yells at you. He is not lenient at all. He grades extremely toughly. I got an entire question wrong for not putting the correct amount of sigs figs, even though I got the rest of the question right. DO NOT RECOMMEND taking his class unless youre ready to kiss up big time.
Im not sure why he has bad ratings as a chem II recitation Prof. He genuinely cares and helps a lot. Never sucked up to him but was never treated as how some states below. He helps prepare for quizzes and gives tricks as he goes along. He knows his stuff, and jokes along the way to keep it calm. If you cant stand sarcasm dont take him. Simple.
Amazing lectures -he makes 3 hours fly by. He gives great analogies that help you understand the material, plus, he's funny. He gives 2 breaks during the lecture and practice problems to make sure you understand what he's teaching. Do the HW - it's 30% of the grade. It's basically high school chem so if you fail, it's on you.
I took Dr. Sangiorgi after suffering through Dr. Binyaminov's nightmare. There is no comparison. Sangiorgi is amazing and helped me love chemistry again. Plus, he gives like half the homework as the other prof and it's based on stuff he actually taught.
He graded me a zero on one of the labs even though it was due the day i was rushed to the hospital. Didnt even respond to the email just immediately graded it as 0 as soon as i sent him the email.
I took Dr. Sangiorgi for both lecture and lab over the summer. Most of what you need to do is in the syllabus which he goes over in detail. He likes when you "chime in the chat with your answer". He is a fair grader. Definitely do the extra worksheets-it's like a sneak preview of the exams. Do all the ALEKS homework (he tells you this on day 1).
He makes the material easy to understand. Just make sure to do your Aleks and practice the problems that he tells you to practice for the quiz. He'll always "hint" as to which questions will definitely be on all exams and quizzes. He does grade a bit harsh so make sure your sig figs are correct.
He made all the videos we used for class when it was remote during Covid. I never took chemistry before and found his explanations to really help me understand what was going on in each lab. Some questions in the Ed Puzzles were confusing but when I asked him a question in the Zoom chat, he responded quickly and helped make everything clear.
Pros - Knows the material and knows how to teach it. He explains the material well and provides stories and mnemonics to help you understand and remember the material. He is always available after class for extra help. Cons - Do not miss class or you'll be lost. The online homework is worth 30% of the grade but it's open book.
Professor is knowledgable. Class involves a lot of studying outside of it, you are responsible to do most of the work. The ALEKS homeworks are a lot, don't fall behind. Study the lectures, he is always available after class and helpful during recitation period. Speaks clearly and explains concepts well. Would take again, and try harder on my end.
Comparing to my last chem professor, Dr. Sangiorgi is very good at explaining concepts and giving examples in lecture. I especially liked the practice problems so I'd know what to expect on exams. Lots of problems in recitation but they prepare you for exams and he asked if I needed help during each class. Do your ALEKS - it's worth a lot.
Test heavy and quizzes. Every recitation consisted of quizzes, we would get a quiz on the thing we learned on the same day. He would get mad when we would ask. simple question and expect us to know everything. He def liked others more than other people. Avoid him he won't help.
Very rude when asking him questions and unnecessarily sarcastic/mean to students. Gets mad easily when someone doesn't understand something. He explains topics okay, but is intimidating if you wanna ask questions. If you're good at chem, great, then take him and have fun. If not, try finding someone nicer and better.
He really knows how to teach. He can be a tough grader on recitation quizzes and emphasizes units but it prepares you for the exams. He returns work quickly and will go over problems but you have to ask. I didn't realize how good he is until I took orgo and wish I had Sangiorgi back.
Best lab professor. I actually understood what I was doing thanks to Prof. Sangeorgi. He grade the prelab right before the lab so you know what you got wrong. I wish he taught organic.
I took his class this Summer 2023. He is a very tough grader. If you are not good at chemistry, don't take his class. Otherwise, you would feel stress and regret about your GPA. I did not expect this professor who would ruin my GPA. Aleks is Tough. Aleks hw, 2 midterms,1 Final ,4 quizzes. So, study a lot. don't take him, you will suffer by th end.
I took his summer course and it went well. you can tell he's passionate about the subject and goes out of his way to explain the material. 2 midterms, 1 final, 4 quizzes. my only gripe was that the aleks hw was very long and way harder than any of the material on the exams/quizzes
I really enjoyed the class. I and i thought it was relatively easy, however i do know others in the class did have issues with the material but they usually just needed more time to work on topics. I had peraonal conflicts with class and he was very receptive to work out a way for me to do the best i could.
sangiorgi cares and presents material in practical/interesting ways. aleks hw is a nightmare and often covers completely different subjects than lecture. do not take this class over the summer, when it'll feel more like gen chem. gives a break to split up lecture. runs a tight ship, but very personable. cool guy, good prof. take
Professor Sangiorgi teaches chemistry in a fun way and makes each topic easy to understand, even for students who have never learned chemistry before. He's very easy to communicate and very experienced in teaching and the knowledge that he applied to real-life scenarios made chemistry interesting and alive. I'd definitely choose more of his class.
Giving him credit because he clearly knows his science but that's about it. Comes off as chill but has a kind of short temper, talks to you as if you're a HS student..maybe pipe down a bit, buddy. Find a good partner, do the work and you'll be fine
Sangiori was ok in the beginning however as other comments say, he is short-tempered, especially when asked questions he expects are obvious for students to know. Given this is an introductory course, the setting he gives makes it uncomfortable to ask questions without being ridiculed or have him raise his voice. Study on your own or fail.
He explained concepts very clearly and provided examples and analogies to make sure my classmates and I understood. The power points are long but have practice problems that show up on exams. He answers some questions in class and stays after class to help students. Do the practice tests he posts - his exams are very close.
He's a great instructor but that didn't change how dreadful this class was. Lab reports seem to never end and the time commitment does NOT match the ONE CREDIT this class is worth. DONT procrastinate. And prep beforehand cuz the manuals can be unclear asf. Almost like they write them to trick & confuse you on purpose
Sangiorgi teaches the material well and will answer your chem questions. He's mostly chill but can be snarky at times, especially to rude students. Answer all the questions in the lab handout in your lab report or he'll take off points. The review sheet for the lab final was super accurate to the actual final.
I liked the clear and well articulated lectures, and the way he was able to teach the topic very clearly. He made jokes during lecture which were actually funny. He made the class very interactive by bringing in real life examples of things relating to the topic that he is teaching in class.
Amazing lecturer and will keep you entertained for a three hour lecture. He made everything clear and used real life examples to explain the concepts. The tests were also similar to practice exams he would give the week before, so just study those and you'll be good! ALEKS was also annoying but it was manageable.
He gives detailed explanations & checks class progress. He dissects each lesson completely and answers questions after class, + gives us plenty of practice problems AND practice exams extremely alike to actual exams. You get ab a month per 3 Chapters of ALEKS.Content is rough, but he makes lectures bearable (performs chem reactions b4 ur eyes)!
I personally had a difficult time with Sangiorgi's class. I worked so hard, putting my own major's classes aside for this, and still couldn't get an A on any exam. I'd go in feeling good/knowing the material, but then fail. Which was so awful cause that's all your grade was based on, and ALEKS was never related to material in class!!!
i took this class as staff assigned. after seeing his name i checked the rmp and got really scared. but after taking few classes and 1st exam i really found him amazing. I don't know why people gave negative feedback here. Chemistry is tough and you have to really study if you wanna do well. His exams are easy if you do understand practice exam.
All his lectures made sense because he would be very through and explain a lot of thing very well. He also posted practice exam, which were almost the same to the exam which is also really great. One thing is he does assign HW which is ALEKS. I hated ALEKS it was so time consuming and annoying.
Very clear lectures with helpful real-life examples. He's patient and supportive. Highly recommend using his worksheets, ALEKS, and practice tests , they really prepare you well. Attendance isn't required, but going to class helps a lot. One of the best!
He rushes through things, and the course is test heavy. There's ALEKS homework but it's only worth 10% of the grade so it barely helps with the overall grade. He's an alright lecturer but his tests are actually nuts because he makes them. He will not support you at all if you request some assistance.
