He is by far the best math teacher I have had. He answered any questions someone had. He will slow down to make sure a student understands what he is teaching. He is hilarious and at the end of each test he gives 2 bonus questions, one being either your favorite movie or to tell him a joke. Be sure to do the homework and you will pass.
By far one of the best math teachers I've had here. Class is relatively easy as long as you do all of your hw. Also, gives out extra credit during tests. If your looking for a funny professor get him, always making jokes in class. Would take again if possible.
A truly fantastic teacher. This teacher is very helpful with any questions you may have, he also gives clear, easy to understand notes. He is also hilarious and easy to talk to.
Professor Schellhous is extremely easy going and works with students' schedules, questions, and concerns. If math is something you do or don't enjoy, this teacher will make it bearable by cracking jokes and thoroughly explaining each problem or formula not out of obligation but with enthusiasm. First math professor I would truly recommend.
He is a funny guy, which makes you want to pay more attention. We used connectmath to do all our homework. He is a fairly easy teacher, you just need to do all the homework to pass.
Took Prof. Schellhous for Math 12. Really clear lecture and notes. I didn't need the textbook since he covered everything we needed to know through notes.
I took Professor Schellhous for Pre-stats, and I absolutely loved it. I hate math, but this professor definitely made me change my mind. His Lectures are different because he teaches in front for a few minutes and then the rest is group work, but it works! Show up to class, do your homework and portfolio assignments, and you will pass!
Schellhous is seriously an amazing teacher, and is very patient and is willing to explain something to you if you dont understand the material. took him for Pre stats, and he honestly changed my mind about math, I entered that classroom hating it, and I left the semester loving it! Totally taking him for Intro to stats.
He is literally the BEST math teacher you could ever find at a community college. He's super funny and his assignments won't bombard you. He also gives several quizzes throughout the semester, but he'll take your best 5 scores and only those will count towards your grade. Loved his class!
Best math teacher. I took him for pre-statistics and will be taking him for statistics. He is a younger teacher and is funny. He is very helpful and his study guides are just like the tests. The class is mostly group work but it is very effective. He is always willing to help and easy to get ahold of outside of class.
Schellhous is hands down one of the best professors I have ever had. For a 6 week summer calculus course, I was extremely impressed with how much information he was able to teach. Notecards on the test, online homework, cumulative final with a notecard, it doesn't get much better than that. His style of teaching is great, and he's pretty funny too!
He is an awesome teacher! he's very funny and such an easy class if you show up. I took him three times for different classes and passed all of the classes. he will work with you if you don't understand! I would recommend him over any other math teacher. I had to miss two weeks of his class because i was having a baby and i still passed!
I took this teacher for my math 90 and math 120, and he is truly amazing. He makes math understandable and does not confuse you. He explains things easy and simple. I would take him for all of my math classes if I had the time. Best teacher ever!!
Best math teacher ever. Period!!!
Professor Schellhous was a great teacher. I actually took him for Math 63 (pre-stats) and liked it so much I took him for Statistics. I got an A in both his classes. You will do fine as long as you do the online homework and know the material on the quizzes (the quizzes are very easy, 1-3 questions). Math can be hard, but he made it understandable.
He is a wonderful professor. Super easy guy to ask for help. Offers extra credit on tests. Quizzes are simple and short. One presentation, but its easy.
Prof. Schellhous is the best math professor I've taken. He encourages class participation and is quite engaging. His lectures are easily understood and absorbed. I usually have difficulty retaining information and blow it on tests. That was not the case here. A fair amount of homework, weekly quiz, and an occasional test. Overall good!
I don't really like math cause i'm not good at it, i actually got an A in the class i did all the homework came to all the classes and passed with flying colors even on the test. He is very good at explaining Math and loves teaching it, hes funny in a nerdy way KEYWORD: CLEAR and PATIENT I took a winter class it was a lot but it was doable!
His lectures make it very easy to understand the subject and if you need additional help, he is willing to help you in any way he can. We did our homework on connectmath and he often had us go in groups to work on assignments. We had a very easy project at the end of the semester that we had to present. I left the class with a 103%.
Is very clear and makes stats super easy! Hes nice and is willing to help you with anything and everything. Will definitely take him again if I can!
He's great. I'm awful at math but he makes it easy. His lectures explain so much. Be prepared to buy a TI84 and homework access. It's gonna take about $200 and you have to spend it. He is a great teacher though and honestly, the best option.
Great professor. Very clear lecture.
This teacher is awesome. Super patient with students and doesnt mind repeating himself. Work isnt too hard, he gives you lots of chances to turn stuff in. There are lots of quizzes, but they are short and he reviews right before. Definitely recommended him if you can get him!!!!
HES AN AMAZING TEACHER . HE EXPLAINS MATH AS SIMPLE AS POSSIBLE HES VERY CLEAR.
Professor Schellhous will help you help yourself. He is easy to understand and his (4) tests are fair. You will do MANY homework problems online. Not too difficult. Textbook is required. TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculator is required. In class group work is fun. Statistics sampling project is not too difficult. Spring 2018
P. Schellhous gives the best class. He gives you all the tools needed to succeed. He will prepare you to understand stats that you will feel ok about taking his quizzes and tests. He gives reviews b4 all quizzes and test. I recommend all to take his course. He really is a kool professor.
Excellent teacher. I have NEVER been that strong in math and he made sure that everything makes sense. He will answer your question until you understand what he is trying to teach. Amazing!
I'm so glad I took Schellhous again for statistics, his class was very easy. He does a lecture w/ a small break in between then homework problems on connect math. He gives you study guides for the midterm/final and allows cheat sheets. If you are having trouble, he will sit w/ you and help you until you understand.
Very easy class. A quiz every week, 20% of your grade. Moderate amount of online hw on Connectmath (I believe it costs $104) , 20% of your grade. Midterm, 20% of grade, lets us use flashcard with notes. Very simple project, 10% of grade. Final, accumulative, 30%, lets us use entire page of notes. He's funny and sweet, I highly recommend him!!
Possibly the best professor I've taken at vvc. Really chill and easy going. A notecard of notes for every test. Does a review before every quiz. A must take !!!
Super nice and teaches the material clearly. Makes learning stats surprisingly fun and easier than I thought it would be. Responds to emails quickly and stays on top of grading. Hes just awesome!
A laid back professor who teaches statistics in a clear and easy-to-understand way. He's very approachable and will help you out with just about anything. If you seriously struggle with math, his teaching style will help you. The work is not overwhelming, although you'll need to do a stats project near the end of the semester. Highly recommend!
Tests and quizzes are really easy. He is extremely patient
For anyone struggling with math, or even if you dont, this is the professor for you. Hes extremely patient and he teaches better than any other math professor Ive ever had. His #1 priority is that his students PASS and UNDERSTAND the material, not just MEMORIZING for tests. Theres 4 tests and 1 final. Calculators & 3x5 notecard allowed. 10/10
He is one of the best math professors I have ever taken at VVC. He is so patient and will answer all questions, even the ones already asked multiple times! He's an excellent professor and makes the questions much simpler when he reviews the homework in class. If you struggle in math I highly recommend him! He will be your life saver for sure!
Professor Schellhous cares about you, the student. He wants you to do good, but you are going to put forth the effort. Funny guy. Definitely knows statistics. Always willing to help. Plenty of homework. Quizzes each week. Really fair on his tests - midterm and a final.
IF YOU TEND TO STRUGGLE IN MATH,THEN THIS IS THE PROFESSOR TO TAKE BECAUSE HE DOES KNOW HOW TO TEACH AND HE DOES HELP OUT A LOT. HIS LECTURES ARE VERY CLEAR AND THE HOMEWORK IS DECENT.
Great professor, very helpful, he wants you to succeed, very patient, he will explain the class until you get it. Awesome, I would take this professor again.
He is a patient teacher, genuinely wants you to learn. Lots of weekly homework, but it's helpful practice. Tests are straight reviewed material. He is also relatable and livens up the class.
Prof. Thomas is honestly the best Math prof at VVC. He really cares about his students. His lectures are very helpful, informative, fun and he is actually pretty funny. He answers emails quickly, and is available for office hrs. Do the hw and come to lectures and you will get an A. I ACTUALLY learned in this class and I was horrible in math.
First semester at Victor Valley College and one of the best professors I have encountered. His humor makes the class less boring, which is rare. There is weekly homework but it's good practice for the test. He always reviews before a test and answers any questions regarding the material as well as allowing a 3x5 notecard. Great professor.
Schellhous is a great math teacher! He is always open to explaining things and his tests aren't too challenging. He gives reviews before each exam, and will go over any questions before. There is online homework for every section so as long as you keep up, it's not that much. He's a funny and nice guy.
Greatest professor ever!!! This man knows so much! If you were struggling with calculus before, struggle no more! He even helps with other math classes. The knowledge he has is endless. He's so smart and he loves math so much! If you take his class, you must have Allstate because you are in great hands!
Prof. Schellhous makes learning trig so fun and easy. He enjoys answering questions and helping students until they understand the material. He made the course as easy as possible for us to succeed while the material was still challenging. Would absolutely recommend his class! 10/10 professor.
Nice guy. Easy to understand lectures.
A professor that understands that not everyone has all the time in the world. Provided a solid course with a manageable amount of work. A gentleman at his core who goes as far as creating his own video lectures online.
Very nice, very helpful gentleman. Exams are easy ge gives you a practice exam to help you out before hand. No mandatory textbook he offers one that is online and free. No expensive calculator required or anything. Easy and self explanatory just watch his lectures to understand material and join the zooms. (even tho they are optional)
A super amazing teacher. No textbook and no calculator. Study guides look exactly like the quiz. Allows you to turn in projects early to fix anything you did wrong. Has basically unlimited late passes and allows you to get 100% on every assignment. Prof Schellhous was probably my favorite teacher of the semester. The best stats teacher out there.
Best math teacher I ever had! Lectures were easy to understand. He is more than willing to help you on homework, projects and the practice exams. Tries his best to find free material for us to use(textbook, calculator, etc). He wants you to pass and he will do anything to make sure you do as long as you're willing to put in effort!
Schellhous is the best math teacher I have ever had. He explains things VERY clearly and teaches exactly what you need to know. He wants his students to actually understand the material. My favorite part was his homework assignments have a reasonable amount of problems which never had me overwhelmed. He is funny and keeps the class entertained.
This professor is truly amazing! Do yourself a favor and take him! I asked for help regarding the project and he was happy to help. I actually learned in this class!
Mr. Schellhous is the best teacher Ive had. I was scared to start math again after years off & he made it so easy. I had him all throughout covid & he made sure to stay available & understanding. Hes great at delivering his lectures and answering any questions. Hands down the best! 100/100
Professor Schellhous is amazing, I took his Math 120 Intro to statistics in winter 2021 and I received 100% on the course after failing another Statistics class prior. He is clear on what he expects and tests and taken from homework. Do the homework and practice and you will pass. Hands down one of the best professors at the school.
Professor Schellhous has great lectures that are very easy to follow, and he teaches the information in an easily understandable fashion. Just complete your work, pay attention, and be a good student. He wants his students to succeed.
Extremely helpful, clear, and concise. His lectures are amazing, and he has no problem offering aid to students that need it. To call him a good professor would be a severe understatement. Definitely worth taking for all courses he teaches
I absolutely love this class. He gives great lectures and I understand the work completely after he goes over it. I am terrible at math yet this class made it 100% times better and I actually liked it. If you want to take a statistics math class at VVC take his!!
Dont hesitate to take him for your stats class! He is very straightforward and knows how to teach. You will do just fine if you do his homework and do the practice exam before every test. You will definitely pass his class! He is really cool and a nice professor and will help you if you need help! I 100/10 recommended him!
One of the best professors at VVC. I recommend him 100%. The class is tough but he makes it easier. He takes the time to help you understand the material. He is awesome!!!!
Great professor, caring and reasonable. The lectures are reasonable and as long as you ask he will help you. Exams are not hard at all (gives you study guide and just like homework). There is a statistics project, but don't worry about it; he will help you--just ask. The first few chapters are hard, but it won't pop up much later on so don't sweat.
Professor Schellhous is THE BEST math professor I have ever had! He is very caring , willing to help any student to succeed. Grading is also very fair, his homework counted into the grade book but his test are way easier than his hw assignment, sometime the test question is the same as the examples he gave out in his amazingly clear lecture note.
Professor is ok , but if you are not good at math do not take him . He often takes long to respond to e- mails. . Please take another teacher.
One of my best Professor
I LOVE U PROF SCHELLHOUS! His lectures are easy to understand and there is NOT an excessive amount of homework. Great to take online if you work. Manageable, but you will still learn a lot. Clear grading and expectations. Best prof Ive had my two years at vvc.
If looking for a math class, take this professor. Literally made a hard subject so easy to understand. You do not have to pay for textbook, it's free and homework has help videos if you get stuck. Also, there is extra credit, the homework is not hard, best math online class ever!
Trigonometry can be an overbearing class at points, but I cannot stress enough to listen and watch his videos. They are very helpful and actually get you through whatever you need. The class itself may not be the easiest breeze, but give it your best effort and you'll do completely fine. He's a good professor.
Loved this class!
Liked this professor. Clear feedback. Cares about making sure the class knows what they're doing.
Took this class during online learning. Enjoyed the workflow, the teacher is aware and cares for the class. Homework assignments weekly along with a dicussion board, and you have only 4 exams, you take two in person and two online. Teacher uploads videos where he walks through the assignments, easy A.
One of the best math professors
The absolute best math teacher I have ever had at vvc. He provided great lectures for the online class. He responded to emails very quickly and was able to throughly explain and clear any confusion about the homework. He is just overall very caring and really wants his students to understand his material.
Amazing professor and always there to help!
I'm not very good at math but this professor was great at explaining and he was very detailed with his note taking, very sympathetic instructor.
Professor Schelhous is probably one of my favorite teachers I've had at VVC. He cares about you passing and further explains anything you might not understand. He is the definition of what a real teacher should be like. He is great and I am so thankful I was able to come across such a caring professor. Thank you so much Professor Schellhous!
Professor Schellous is a wonderful professor. He loves teaching and is very funny making the classroom feel very welcoming. It is consistent and easy to follow with most of the work being on canvas. As long as you do the work and use all the resources avaliable you will pass. There are difficult concepts but he does a great job of teaching it.
He gave many opportunities for students to understand the course material and to make up for late work. Online office hours were also available. He responded to my emails very quickly. He gave many materials so that the work could be done solely with what was provided with the weekly modules which made learning more efficient.
If he says that what you see in the practice exam is on the midterm exam, then he's not lying! His exams ALWAYS correlated with the lectures. I would say lecture attendance is mandatory because there are weekly quizzes he does on Kahoot and you'd be losing easy points if you don't go. Do the discussion boards! They're also easy points!
Professor Schellhous was fantastic! He is compassionate and makes his class enjoyable. He enjoys what he does and it shows. More people would go to college if more instructors were like him. Take his class!
There is average amount of homework, not overwhelming. The chapter assignments are the bulk of your grade, there is also simple discussions, and a midterm and final. There's homework lectures, for visual learners. I am not good at math at all but he's such a good teacher that I pass with an "A", make sure you take notes of the questions your doing.
Professor Schellhous is an amazing professor! If you need to take Stats, have him as your professor, his videos are really really helpful, and he gives you a practice midterm so that you can have time to review before the actual midterm. Also for the final, he gives you a practice one first. He deserves more than 5 stars!
Schellhous is a great teacher! He purposely makes homeworks and lectures more difficult than the quizzes and exams. I appreciate that he moved office hours to the math success center for extra help if needed.
Professor Thomas is great at what he does, he has lectures that ar
Professor Thomas really is a good instructor, I'm not good at math at all but the lectures and the walking us through step by step really helped me be successful in this class, the practice test are just like the mid-term and final exam, if you really practice with those and study them, the actual exams will be cake. Can't go wrong with Prof Thomas
Such an amazing professor! He went out of his way to get me into the right class after I enrolled in the wrong one. He made stats so easy to understand. Do yourself a favor and take him! You will not regret it. I'm actually going to miss this class.
If you need math 120 this is your guy! He is such a great teacher, helps you right away with anything you are stuck on. He made math so easy to understand! If he were teaching other types of math I would take him. I will actually miss this class :')
Good professor. He allowed me into the class 2 days after the semester started when I really needed to take math 120. Organized assignments module and clear instructions.
This professor makes complex math easy to understand through clear, YouTube-style video lectures. He breaks down each topic step by step, explains how to use a statistical calculator, and focuses on why concepts matter. His approach builds confidence and helps students truly grasp the ideas behind the math.
He is the best professor that I have EVER had at VVC. Calc is notoriously a tough subject, and he always made it super easy to understand. He is super caring and funny, helps to lighten up your mood during early mornings. I wish all faculty were like him. He deserves only the best!!!
I was able to ace his statistics class with no problem. Only had a discussion and 2 assignments/week. There is no reason you cant get 100% on assignments, he allows multiple attempts. Midterm & final were not too bad he allowed 2 attempts/question. Not proctored & all lectures on YouTube. Gives late passes when needed. Overall, great professor.
Actually took Calc2 but amazing teacher, funny guy, great notes he prints out for lectures. Always willing to help. Lots of quizzes but they're small. Tests are easy if you study the material. Final has questions from previous tests, homework was online this semester *thank u pearson*. Grades exams w/minute detail but great feedback if you need it.
I was going into stats with FEAR cause I HATE math. But Professor Schellhous was the most easy and amazing professor I could've taken for stats. I also took the coreq and the workload was still very light and easy. I did well on my midterm and he congratulated me privately and I appreciated that because many professors wont take time to do that.
No textbooks were required for his course, which I loved. His lectures were on YouTube and easy to follow. He provided practice exams that were exactly like the midterm and final. There are so many more positive things I could say. However, I don't have enough characters. I would take him for Math 105 if I could.
Wonderful Professor! Always assures students it is okay to receive help from him. Lectures are clear and understanding making the homework a lot easier to do even if math isnt your thing. Homework problems can be redone as many times and late passes are available making it easy to get an A. 100% Recommend having him as a professor :D
Took his statistics class! Professor Schellous is more than generous when it comes to the hw and grading. He uses an online platform where you have almost unlimited attempts to get the problems correct. The only exams he requires are the midterm and final exam.
Dr. Schellhous is a phenomenal instructor! Please take his class. He's great at lecturing the material and responds nicely to questions. He is available often, so don't be afraid to reach out for help when you need it. Plus if you make it to Finals week (which you will), he brings donuts for the class!
Highly recommend this class for Stats. I'm not a big "numbers" person but this instructor does a great job of breaking the material down and making it accessible. He gives you all the tools you need to do well as long as you put in a reasonable amount of effort. Practice exams are also extremely helpful, do not skip those!
Schellhaus is an amazing professor he was able to take the advanced concepts of calc 2 and explain them in a way that was SUPER easy to understand. He also provides typed out lecture notes that he hands out to the whole class so it's easy to follow along during the lectures. He also lets us use cheat sheets on our exams. 100% recommend taking him!
While Calc 2 is known for being difficult, Professor Schellhous broke everything down and made it super simple. If you have a chance to take him, do it! He does assign a good amount of homework but it's because he wants you to practice and really understand the material. Exams are almost like the study guides he gives out. Also, don't cheat!!
