The lab class is the easiest class ever. You shouldnt have to take the final either. I had an A and was excused from the final. If you cant get an A in this class then you must be dumb or lazy. Very smart guy.

This is by far the best lecturer/teacher I have had in my life. His blunt upfront attitude is awesome! He knows a lot of interesting facts about history and uses these facts to make his lectures interesting. He grades very fair. A+++++++ Excellent Teacher

Go to class.There are 3 big exams & reviews before the exam(basically gives out the answers).75% of class got a D on the 3rd exam, one B and 2 C's.Video's for extra credit or go to museum/seaworld no paper for e.c. 1 big page paper.

Schilz is the perfect professor. A straight-forward, often sarcastic sense of humour makes every lecture a thrill to attend, but students should always recognise his genuine concern for their welfare and success. His lectures have proven he knows it all.

He can keep an audience and really knows his stuff. He draws countries on the board to clarify location from memory. He is very interesting but can be rude, yet informative.

He is a funny guy and tends to use the F word which is funny stuff. After the midterm and final he gives you a video to watch then a quiz which is added to the mid term / final which helps ALOT! MAKE SURE TO STUDY!!! Its NOT EASY STUFF.

i took this professor for both hist 105 and 106. i think he's an awesome teacher...his tests are extremely hard...but he gives you plenty of extra credit to make up for them. his lectures are real good and i learned a lot from him. very smart person.

Anyone who doesn't think this man is just flat out hilarious has no sense of humor. As opposed to most of the professors who assume that every student is at an 8th grade reading and comprehesion level, he has reasonable expectation levels.

Aside from his sometimes condescending demeanor, he is quite a professor. He commands a wealth of knowledge for the subject. Tests are hard, but extra credit makes up for it. Three hour lectures are intriguing not to mention he lets you out 1/2 hr early. recommended.

Very good teacher. Lecture for memory. Genious in History. As long you do the work and try you will pass the class with no problem even you fail all his test because there are supprises. His class is very easy. All u have to do is show up to class everyday and take notes. If you decide not to take notes don't worry because he gives u all the information that you will need to know anyway. Also the paper is a piece of cake easy to get 100. Take this class and u will learn something.

Mr. Shilz is one of the coolest teachers I had before I transfered to a private college. I wasn't very good at his classes but extra credit and being there sure helped. A nice guy but too bad he got sick a lot.

I took Shilz for History 106, 109 and Geography 101 and 101L. I don't see how anyone with half a brain could not get an A in the class. He's helpful and not really as rude or cynical as he tries to be. If you can't pay attention in class or do the reading, don't bother going to school.

Dr. Schilz is a brilliant man. He obviously loves what he does and has very interesting lectures. You have a few tests and 1 paper to do. His tests are very hard (however he provides test notes), but with the extra credit and the lenient grading on the paper, it would take an idiot to fail his class. Excellent professor! If you attend class and follow directions you will do well. If you don't engage in learning and you don't pay attention you will hate the class. This is college so you are expected to participate. That is part of the experience. Take his class and you will learn a lot.

Absolutely take this guy for a history class! It is very tough NOT to get an A in his class. While he is a bit nuts, his lectures are entertaining and easy to pay attention to. Tests are hard; most people fail them, but he gives so much extra credit that it doesn't even matter. You seriously don't have to pass a single test to get an A. Good class.

Probably my favorite teacher of all time.He is amazing, he knows everything. He is also really fair and gives a ton of extra credit. So funny to listen to and very interesting. I came into the class with no interest in geography but left facinated with it.

Great teacher. Knows his stuff. Funny. I did a fair amount of studying for his class but he hands out study sheets. I simply studied from the sheet and did great. He gives the answer for several of the study sheet questions. Literally he'll tell you "61 is false or the answer is c." don't get me wrong i had to study to get the A. but some students apparently weren't listening when he said 61 is false. They would mark the answer true!!!!

His tests are no joke, the paper was soso, but show up to class, and pay attention. almost a third of the points are extra credit. dont be afraid of him hes nice, old football coach. if you fail drop out and apply at mcdonalds.

E.C is watching movies like Star Wars in class and take a test on it. Take notes on the review, he'll say stuff like the first question of the t/f is t the rest is f, and hes not joking.

You will fail his tests. But you can easily pass the class. He gives so much extra credit that anyone who fails is simply lazy. Also, he grades on attendance and tells you how to fix your paper to ace it, should you turn it in before the due date. His sense of humor is very dry and sarcastic, but he is actually a pretty cool guy.

Took course online. Very easy if you do the work. Lots of extra credit. Will answer any question you have immediately. Took three major exams and one book report. With all of the extra credit offered, you could probably skip one of the exams or the book report and still get an A.

Took his 109 & 110 class. I LOVE this professor! I wish he taught everything at Miramar! His lectures are awesome! He swears, goes off, cracks jokes and keeps it VERY interesting. He knows SO much it will blow your mind! His tests are hard, but there's so much extra credit it's impossible to fail (unless you're lazy). TAKE HIM!! You wont regret it!

Easy class. GO to the review sessions becuz he gives out partial answers. DO the extra credit. For the tests, helpful to look up the index for key concepts. It's impossible to fail this class if you put in some effort to attend the lectures. Schilz can be very funny at times but also very opinionated.

Dr. Schilz is definitely the hardest teacher I've ever had, but he does get good information put out there. I failed EVERY test and still got an A! Do the extra credit, you're stupid if you don't! You'll fail the first test, but don't get discouraged. He's a good teacher that is unique in his presentations. Although opinionated, very helpful.

I guess you either love him or hate him. Spring semester will be my 4th class with him, I have received "A's" in all his classes so far. I think he is an awesome teacher, if you are on the far right and a radical republican then you will not like him.

Certainly the most qualified professor at Miramar, they're lucky to have him. The tests are hard and very challenging. I passed them, but many students do not. I recommend doing ALL the extra credit! Also, if you're late, do not slam the door behind you; and do not talk during the tests or lectures, it just pisses him off. I highly recommend him!!

I read every single page of every chapter..and while I got A's on ALL of the Extra Credit..I never got ANYTHING above a D on the tests. I'm an A & B average student so that shows you where I'm coming from. I reallly wish I would have seen these reviews before taking his class and ruining my transcript/GPA. Old school but extremely charming(if you work hard) and interesting-great lectures but if you are lazy then he will publically berate and humiliate you till you feel as tall as a toaster. Found myself laughing out loud when he found a victim -part of the entertainment. Classes flew by. Exams are impossible but PLENTY of extra-Credit Offered.

The best professor I've ever had hands down, the guy is way to smart to be at Miramar. Pay attention to the lectures and do the reading every now and then and you WILL get an A. If you are devoutly religious or faint of heart this is NOT the professor for you, he will rip your sheltered little world apart.

He's really great, I never wanted to miss a class. But he is teaching for grown-ups. No person, race, creed, or religion is safe or sacred with him and that's a beautiful thing. Be somebody (like him) take his class. Pay attention, do the work, and learn something about the history of this world.

Started off rude but ended up being very helpful giving us many answers to the test (ex. #20 is A). Gives study guides - do them bc it EXACTLY reflects the tests. You write one paper which you can totally BS as long as you follow is rubric for things NOT to do you will get an easy A.

He's the BEST history teacher that I've taken EVER! I took HIST 100, 109, 110 with him and got all A's! All you need to do is just turn in the ONE and ONLY paper that you have into him a couple weeks before it's due so that he could revise it so you could get 100 and extra credit points.

If you can't get past his blunt personality or use of grown up words, you're going to miss out on a hilarious, helpful, and generally pretty easy professor. His lectures are interesting, i looked forward to them, and he gives a lot of extra credit. He tells you to shut the F up when you need to shut the F up,but he's entirely reasonable if you are.

Dr. Schilz is a genius. His memory is beyond impressive. He seems like a tough guy at first, but really, he is such a sweetheart and makes it VERY easy for you to pass the class. His lectures are like storytime - very FUN for history. Don't take an online class - experiencing him in person is priceless. I HIGHLY recommend him.

i loved this class. the lectures were always interesting, always looked forward to them. exams are pretty hard even if he does provide you with a study guide. essay is required, just follow the instructions of what not to do and you can BS it and get an A+. over 100+ points of extra credit offered. (class is scaled to 400 points).

Honestly, I wait the whole semester and grade the teacher. The people who just had him the first day gets imitated the way he acts. The whole class has great lectures, he knows his history and doesn't make the class boring. He really is a nice professor, test are easy, gives alot of extra credit, and book helps alot on the test.

I took the class online, so I wasn't fortunate enough (or unfortunate enough, according to some) to enjoy his lectures. He is EXTREMELY clear with his expectations, which is always refreshing. I thought it was a great class and I enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend him to anyone interested in a history course.

His 1st class session is tough to get through but stick it out! Totally worth it. Very engaging, doesn't lecture straight from the text (so his lectures aren't boring crap you've already read) and while opinionated and a little crass/rough, his classes are worth it. Great instructor and I'll take classes w/him in the future for sure.

Great teacher! You do not need the book at all. His tests are very hard but he'll usually show a movie in class and give you participation points to help your grade. His lectures are fun and engaging. His syllabus is VERY clear. **DO THE BOOK CRITIQUE!** That is a huge portion of your grade. If you fail that you'll pretty much fail the class.

Haha! I can't believe someone found a video of him at Comic-Con. This teacher is intense, but if you read and do the chapter challenges, you will be fine. I received D's on all the tests, but I got an A in the summer school class. Don't expect to screw around. His lectures are interesting and funny. Follow guidelines for paper you will get 100 pts!

Do the extra credit as early as possible. He will return it to you and let you re-submit it. Interact with him in class. DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED BY YOUR PRE-FINAL GRADE. His teaching pushes the information into your head. You know more than you think. He, himself is brilliant, and he wants you to suceed. Oh yeah... don't be late to class.

Professor Schilz is extremely knowledgeable. He has no tolerance for idiots and has no qualms about calling people out. If you want someone to tell you you're special and get an A just for showing up you should probably go see your kindergarten teacher. If you are an adult and are interested in learning, Professor Schilz is an excellent choice.

Don't let the negative reviews scare you, Schilz is a very fair professor. His tests might be challenging to someone who isn't familiar with the subject but there are several extra credit opportunities. Just follow directions to the letter and don't expect any special treatment and you'll get an A.

Class was somewhat challenging. Its not a breeze but he will guide you through it. It an A that you have to work for, everything is pretty much layered out right in the syllabus and overall a fun class. Took over the summer and it was pretty stressful but in the end I managed to get an A. Recommended to take good notes & you MUST read the book.

As a history major I thoroughly enjoyed and looked forward to his classes. He is definitely a bit unconventional with his colorful use of language. I never in my life heard more swear words come from a person than from this professor. However, don't let that scare you because he knows his stuff. Take his course if you are a history major.

However, being a fairly easy online class it made sense that the professor wanted to keep students from slacking off so he set some high expectations. Lots of reading and lots of notes. If you do those two things then you will most likely get a good grade.

He's one of my favorite teachers ever. I went to high school with very unconventional teachers (HTHI). He cusses a lot. He is animated. He tells stories. He cares about his students, & he goes from being kinda cold and offensive at 1st 2 being a really inspired & inspiring professor. He tackles the course from a diff perspective. Expert on Natives.

Great professor; knows his material. Very direct. Tests were a bit hard, but he helped us still prepare.

History 110 Online. 3 100 question exams and a book critique worth 400 points. He gives countless opportunities for EXTRA CREDIT plus bonus points at the end of the semester. I did good on exams and failed the book critique but still ended up with a little over 400 points thanks to his extra credit assignments. Easiest A++!!!

Lots of reading material. There were extra credit quizzes for each chapter, which helped boost the grade in the end, because the exams themselves were a bit challenging. Written assignment is very demanding, but if you follow instructions, it is easy to get an A. Teacher has a dry sense of humor, but helpful and quick to respond when needed.

Very good professor. He's kind of like Ron from Parks and Rec. Tests are hard, but taken online so you can use your book. There's often quizzes online but take roughly 5-10 min. There's only one hw assignment, but he tells you exactly what he expects of it. As long as you do well on that assignment and decent on the quizzes, you will pass.

SO much extra credit.

This is college, not a trip to Disney Land. You need the updated book in a science course because the material is constantly updated (duh). Can Thomas come across as rude? Yes, but you don't learn the material by having someone hold your hand. A few hours of reading a week, but if you work hard you will get an A. Highly recommended for all thinkers

His class is easy. He knows the material. All work is done and submitted online. He may come off as rude and he even says he is. But he cares about his students passing and believes in everyone. Lots of extra credit to boost your grade. Sometimes he references sci-fi into his lectures.

A great professor! Learned a lot from him! Funny guy and is one of the realest professors I have had so far! I see many students say he is rude or whatever but that's just non-sense too many sensitive students now a days

This was a fun class, to me it was easy and not too time consuming at all.

If you show up to class, do the three short essays, complete the 3 tests, you'll do fine. This professor has a way to make you retain information and has no reason to misinform you or worry about his word-choice due to his senior status. He's a great guy and very understanding. Life happens and he knows it.

Do the essays and extra credit at the end and you'll get an A. Tests are hard, but they don't matter in the end.

3 Exams, 3 Discussion questions. The tests are the hardest I've taken for any course thus far. As long as you put effort in you'll get beyond the maximum points for the discussion questions. He gives an extra credit test at the end of the semester where every earned point gets doubled. You have no excuse to get less than an A from Schilz.

Easy! Only 3 exams(100 each) and 3 short essays(40 and 30 ). At the end of the class is an extra exam that worth 150 points.

Super easy class. Three tests (100pt each), two essays(50pt each), one huge extra credit test at the end(150pts). Tests are pretty tough, but it's easy to get extra points on the essays if you listen to what he wants and are thorough. Super understanding, knows that life happens. Only lectures, no discussion at all unless someone asks a question.

The essays are interesting and the grading is very fair. Do whats asked and you will get full credit. The test are very challenging but at the end you get a 150 point extra credit assignment that gets you the A.

Probably the easiest class in the whole SDCCD System, if you fail this class, you shouldn't be in college. I literally never show up and I got an A+. If you need a GPA booster this class is perfect for you.

He's a pretty easy grader. The class is based on 2 discussions questions and 3 tests. The discussion questions he isn't hard on grading. He has all his criteria for it on the length and what not, but as along as you answer all sections to the question he will give you an A. The tests you get 2 hours to take so you have plenty of time, no rushing.

Professor Schilz was a great teacher, that I'll be taking another class with him next semester. He's very straight forward. GO to his lectures & take notes, they help a lot when taking his online exams. (his lectures are never boring) Also NEVER have your cellphone out, he hates it and will call you out in front of everyone in class

Prof. Schilz is a great professor because he is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to History, so if you need help do not be afraid to ask. He is a stickler when it comes to grammar and punctuation, so make sure to check your discussion board post twice before posting. Study guides are essential so get them done to study.

Completing the study guides is one way to pass. They cover a lot of material that will be on the exams. Special Discussion Board post are like essay's for this class. It is important to check your grammar before posting. He will deduct points if he finds any grammar or punctuation issues. Easily accessible by email if you have questions.

Dr. Schilz is by far one of my favorite professors of all time. That being said, his class is by no means an easy A. He does lectures that last all class which you NEED to take notes on. You'll also read the textbook a lot of the time, so find the time or you WILL fall behind. He is extremely smart and the funniest professor or teacher I've had.

Although his lectures are long, as the semester goes on you learn to really enjoy them. He has a hilarious personality and he has no problems answering questions! There aren't that many assignments, so paying attention is a must! He doesn't really take attendance, but its hard to do well in his class if you aren't there. I'd for sure recommend.

Take is class online, but make sure you can spell properly. Grammar check before you post anything and youll do great. I personally did pretty bad on the tests, but did really great on the discussion posts. He gives extra credit at the end. I passed with an A because of that extra credit assignment.

Hes crazy and funny when he lectures. I was dying in his class when he was role playing in front of the whole class. Hes somewhat inspirational. I hope to take his Hist 105 class this upcoming Fall.

Take this class if you need an easy class for your Humanities. Three tests, two essays, and one super colossal extra credit extravaganza. This teacher understand that not everyone needs history as a mandatory class for their major, so he makes it simple to get these kind of classes out of the way. His lectures are entertaining. He knows his stuff.

Took him for Hist109 online and it was the easiest class I've ever taken. Exams are easy and there's a huge extra credit extravaganza at the end and really can boast your grade. Def a must take for GE's but probably not if it's part of your major.

I took his history 109 and I actually was hopeless at the first. But as I went to his class for a while, I started enjoying them to the point that I wouldn't miss his class for any reason. There are 3 easy exams during the class which are easy if you just read some important parts of the book. 2 major papers. 1 extra credit exam.

all I can say is that this guy is well known across Miramar college. Trust me!! I love this guy, I will be taking his Hist 110 this upcoming summer. I didn't like the other guy named David Reeves because he will tear any paper that you turn in to him apart like via. Grammar/ punctuation. This instructor (Schilz) is the best, very knowledgeable.

Three tests, 2 essay questions. And one extra credit test. Super Easy Class there is no way you can fail this class unless you don't do any of the work. This is my 6th class with him and he is awesome. I definitely recommend.

Took his History 101 online class. Really manageable, 3 exams, 1 extra credit exam and an essay. Do your ready and use the book. You should not fail this class if you put in some effort.

Enjoyed his class. Don't particularly enjoy history classes but he made it entertaining. If you have any questions about the assignments you can ask him in class and he will gladly answer them and even look over your rough draft

Took his class online. Super easy and the criteria for the class is beyond clear. Three tests, two discussion boards (that are really essays on separate topics). You have plenty of time to get the work in too (essays are open for a whole month, tests open for a 2-3 days). Take the online class. You won't regret it.

I really enjoyed Dr. Schilz' class. My only complaint is that the class wasn't very engaging.

Took HIST109 as a CSU requirement and it was pretty forgettable. Lots of material that I learned in middle and high school. Basic assignments for an online class like reading, and discussion boards. A few short essays, longer exams, and one extra credit opportunity. He seems like he would be an interesting prof to have for an in person class.

Very easy class, its literally graded by three tests and four papers. End of semester has a huge assignment for extra credit if needed. Sometimes I forgot I was taking this class cause I would not have an assignment for like two weeks. Overall a pretty peaceful class that doesn't add a lot to schedules which is nice. Nothing special though.

Easy course with manageable work. Lectures can be dry, but professor is helpful and provides extra credit opportunities. Unstuckstudy AI was a great study tool alongside the textbook. Overall, a fairly straightforward class to get through.
