He's a ninja master, watch out!
Very good teacher and the best of all advisor one could imagine.
Great professor!
Very funny and helpful professor. Dr Shea is someone that you would talk to even after classes. Just be careful, he is a level 10 black belt Karate master.
No complaints here!!!
keeps things dynamic!
Different classes but they are almost identical from each other. Easy class, but don't learn anything.
Sometimes unclear what is req for class, but the guy is prob' a genius, full of good advise for the real world, genuinely enjoyes teaching and cares about students, quite the dapper dresser(drool)

Attendance not mandatory. Total of 4 exams make up your grade. All tests consist of about 50 questions. Final is 60% old stuff, 40% new stuff. Only go to class on test days, as everything you need to know is in the book. Make sure to get the syllabus.
going to class is unnecessary. he uses powerpoint but doesnt leave them up long enough for you to take notes so either way you have to read the book. he is a very nice man though. i dont think he fails anyone. i got 40's on all 3 exams and im sure i failed the final too and still ended up with a C for a final grade.
He scales the tests alot so that no-one fails. His tests are hard though so if you are not interested in bio it is hard to do well. Easy C with no studying and not going to class but if you want anything better it will be tough. Most questions came from lectures and not the book. He moves through slides very quickly though.
Great Class
I wish I listened to the negative comments on this site. Unless if you dont care about your gpa DO NOT take this class. It is imposible to get anything other than a C unless if you know somebody that has taken the class before.Trust me his jokes arnt worth the hit your gpa will take. I had a 3.7 gpa.. yeah not anymore thanks Dr. T. I studied too!
Go to class everyday, sit in the front row so he can see you, and regularly participate and ask questions on the material. He pretty much will automatically give you an A just for doing that. Only 3 MC tests and final that come down to reading the book and memorizing concepts.
you pretty much never have to go to class and you'll get a C or higher he scales its pretty boring and his tests are nothing like the lecture or book so don't even bother going to class the book is a joke he tries to make it funny but i'd rather have a book that has information.
he picks favorites. Sit in the front; you'll most likely get extra bonus points, which is unfortunate for people who are handicapped who must sit in the back of the large auditorium because they can?t get down the stairs?. I wouldn?t take him again.
The nicest guy ever! Will help you out whenever you need it and you should really go to class because all his notes are helpful and were on his tests. 79 average equals an A.
Had a 4.0, he gave me a b even though my grades added up to an A. Scaled some tests then randomly scaled grades. Said he was going to drop a test then never did. Everyone felt like he was picking grades out of a hat. Bottomline, you could get lucky or he could ruin your GPA and not feel bad about it.
Easy A if you put the work in. He's nice and interesting but won't give you extra help. I also kind of agree with other posters, I fell that I might have gotten a random grade
Great Professor. He makes class fun and super easy always open to questions. Very few people go to class unless its the first or there is a test. Go to class and he does not show up chances are he will and you get extra credit. I very much recommend this class. It is great for those not a Bio-Major
Not a great class. I could barely stay awake, not that I really needed to because he goes through the power points too quickly to take notes. His overly priced book is a necessity, in my opinion. Studying from that is the only reason I got a decent grade.
Took him in 2011, he's nice, but makes you purchase HIS overpriced text, classes aren't mandatory, but his work is not effective at all. Really don't do anything, but listen to him lecture for the exams. Smart, but can't really teach.
Easy professor, doesn't want to fail anyone. Homework collectively is worth 25%, 3 exams each worth 25% non-cumulative. Non-mandatory attendance
Super easy. 60 - 79% was a B. Huge scale. never have to go to class except on quiz days. 3 quizzes. Homework takes super long. 45+ min on each one. Nobody failed in my class out of 200 people. Read book and slides night before test and youll do fine.
Class is wicked easy, huge scale. Don't care for his personality at all,and it's not worth emailing him because he will be incredibly rude to you. Homeworks are easy, but they take a long time. Min 30 each. Don't bother showing up except on test days.
Class is very easy. Huge lecture hall so attendance is not mandatory. All the slides he uses are in the book for the class. Huge scale for his tests. However it is definitely not worth emailing him he was very rude to me. I do not care for his personality but I would recommend this class for an easy A.
He's an easy professor. His tests are multiple choice and based right off slides from the book. Huge scale on the tests. Grade is 3 tests and homework grade. Attendance is not mandatory. He definitely does have an attitude problem towards students who contact him.
Very easy class if you study even a little bit. Three tests all M.C. Final exam is just the third test. All notes are in the back of the book. Skim through the slides before the tests and you will be fine. Scales grades so that a 79 or above is an A!
The easiest class I've taken so far. Only went to class the first day and when there were tests and got an A in the course. He considers anything 80 or above an A. He isn't helpful at all but it doesn't even matter. Just look at the slides in the book before tests and you'll get an A. The class is a really great GPA booster.
He is an awesome teacher. He is very understanding and helpful when you care to ask questions. Attendance isn't mandatory but is helpful because he does go over the material in good detail. He is a great professor, highly recommend him. Do the homework, study the slides, and show up for exams and you'll do well.
Basically chose grades out of a hat. Decided to only scale some people's grades and not others. His attitude is disgusting. Don't take this class if you actually want to learn something or get a fair grade.
Easy D, impossible A. Changed the scale this semester I think
Class was suppose to be easy but turned out to be harder than expected for a freshman level course
First off, get ready to pay a ridiculous amount for the textbook, which was written by Dr. Shea. It is overpriced, poorly organized, and laden with so many mistakes the TA discouraged us from referencing it in the lab section. In addition, Dr. Shea's teaching style and attitude left a lot to be desired... I was disgusted by the end of the semester.
To begin, he is completely rude to students. Don't bother going to him for help. He chooses favorites when he grades. Get out of the class while you can before the end! See the science department head.
If you want an easy A requiring little work, take his class. My only caveat would be that his tests are somewhat difficult. If you are serious about learning something in the science field, I would recommend that you don't.
High energy guy. Will keep you awake in the lectures (if you go, as most do not). If you get under an A I'd drop out since there is no hope for you. Streamlines Biology in a general sense onto his slides, and derives his exams direct from them.
Prof. Shea is ok. He scales the grades heavily. Do the homework, read the book, and show up to class. I did ok on the tests, but I think he took into consideration I did all the homework. Also, people need to stop being so sensitive when he calls people out for leaving class early; when you get in the real world, good luck doing that in a meeting.
Book is online and required. He wrote it and it is very helpful. You register the book to the class and he updates it throughout the semester with quizzes and exams. The quizzes and exams are in his words: open notes, open friends, open google. 40% is a passing grade. 80% is an A. If I need another bio class, I'll take him again.
Do the online quizzesexams using the questions from the book and google and you'll get an A without even going to one class.
Take this class. It's super easy. Although attendance is not required at all, I recommend going to class just because Dr. Shea is wicked funny.
Thomas Shea is just flat out the man. He will cooperate with you on anything that comes up. Everything in this class is online and open book. If you don't get an A then you just didn't try or don't care. For non science majors life science with shea is a must.
You do not have to show up to one class. Read the chapters and ask friends for help, easy A. An 80 and above is an "A"
Showed up on the first day and still passed with an A. Super easy!
Went to the first class. Never went to another one. Everything is online. EASY A!
80A. Exams are super easy. Easy A.
Always there to help you get an A. Lectures are interesting though it is not even mandatory to go, everything is online.
Take your time and pay attention to detail when taking the online exams.
Overall, this class is supposed to be an easy A, I took this class because I needed a science, but for a class that's supposed to be basically an intro science class it wasn't as easy as it should've been. I did well in the class, however he's not that great of a professor, he's rude and condescending, so if you don't need it don't take it.
I would not recommend professor Shea to anyone. The class is somewhat easy, but not an easy A. Also if you have any problems with the class don't expect to receive help from him. He can be very rude and isn't very interested in helping his students, hes more interested in his lab. Don't like your grade don't count on him changing it.
Graded so high because you really don't have to go to the class. You buy the online book he wrote and all the exams are on the database with the book. Take the exams. He says himself the exams are open book, open notes, and open google so passing the exams is not hard just remember to take them. Show up to the first class then your good.
Dr. Shea is a wonderful teacher and his humor makes biology interesting. The exams are not overly difficult but the textbook is a must. Going to his lectures also gives you an advantage since a lot of changes to the syllabus are decided by vote in class. Most people skip class since attendance is not mandatory but you will do better if you attend.
Great sense of humor and very enthusiastic about the subject material. However, you won't need to go to more than one lecture. His class is by far the easiest natural science at UML. The work consists of three brief, "open notes, open Google, open collaboration," online exams from the ebook. Use your search bar wisely and the A is yours.
Great professor! I had him for Life Science 1 and am hoping to take him again for Life Science 2.
Easiest class you'll ever take at this university. You don't have to show up to any lectures and can still pass with an A because all his exams are online with no time limit, including the final. As for him personally, he likes to crack jokes and do impressions a lot. Go to lectures if you care about the subject, but if you don't, there's no need.
Prof. Shea is a great and funny guy. He definitely knows what he's talking about because the textbook he uses, he actually wrote. His class is primarily tests, although if there isn't much attendance, he will give out a lot of extra credit, just for showing up to class. Basic biology and chem.
No attendance needed, all you have for grades is 4 tests that are online and are "open notebook, open google, and open friend" (his words). If you google the questions you'll get an A. If you do go to class he's very smart and funny. Easy A don't miss this grade booster.
Great professor! Took life science 1 for non bio majors. Really enjoyed the class. Can't get anything lower than a B. I've heard that nobody has ever failed his class as long as you do the tests. He scales big time.
Super easy professor. Gives 2-3 online exams. Take both Life Science 1 & 2. You can take them at the same time. You NEVER need to go to class, he even emails you to remind you to take the exams. Beware, he gets salty if you don't email him with the highest of manners, but I imagine hes tired of teaching a 200 student class where 4 people show up..
Take this class if you need an easy science with lab. Thomas Shea is a super cool guy, tries to entertain with his lectures and stays informative. All exams (even the final) are online and open book.
Easy A. Some interesting points but honestly did not attend 50% of lectures.
I took life 1 and i signed up for life 2. I went to the first class for about 20 minutes. Everything is online, open notes, open book, open google. Im a cj major and hate science, and I got an A.
Went to his class and half way in I stopped going. His class holds a lot of people in an auditorium. You don't need to show up, but showing up could get you a higher grade. I read everything online as I was doing his online tests. he has 4 and that makes up your total grade. If you plan on going into LFESCI 2 be sure to try to learn as much
His Life Science class is the easiest. Attendance isn't mandatory at all. He only gives 4 online exams, in which you can search for the answers. You take it wherever, whenever. It's the real "sounds too good to be true", but trust me, it's true. If you're in Exploring The University, do yourself a favor and switch into his class and get the A!
Professor Shea is an extremely funny man. But more importantly he is enthusiastic about what he teaches and understands that cells may not be interesting to everyone, but at least he tries to make it as entertaining and easy to comprehend as possible. I thought I would be bored but the content covered is extremely interesting. Highly recommend.
You don't need to show class. I showed up to every lecture and honestly enjoyed them as he can be very funny and educational. Having no stress in science can really help you learn when hes very forgiving about the subjects.
Ummm honestly, I couldn't even tell you what Thomas Shea looks like. I went to one class all semester, and passed with an A. 4 exams all online, and the answers are either common sense high school biology/chemistry, or can be googled. If you want to be part of the 5/200 students that go to class, he will give you bonus points on your final grade.
I highly recommend taking Life Science with Professor Shea. His lectures are inspiring, engaging, and thought-provoking. If you show up to class, you will gain a lot from this course. He structures the course in such a way that lessens the burden of getting grades and focuses more on thinking about the world in an educated manner.
Life I was easy. Life II took a lot of work. First exam took about 4 hours, second about 3, third and forth about 1.5 hours each. Questions are tricky and getting a good grade is hard this time around.
Professor Shea is a really funny and kind-hearted man but I only went to at least 5 classes throughout the semester. You don't even have to show up to know what's going on since all of the online quizzes require you to look up the answers. Talk about an easy A!
You never have to show up to class. Ever. There are 4 exams -- done online and open book. He emails everyone to announce when the exam is posted, and you are given a week to complete it. This is practically an online course. Easiest A I've ever received.
You have to buy the e-book in order to do the online homework ($56). Also, the professor was extremely rude to me over email. However, you do not need to show up to a single lecture to get an A, so I'd recommend this professor to anyone who is looking for an easy Natural Science elective.
Dr. Shea is an amazing lecturer. He warned us that we could pass the class without showing up as exams and textbook are done online, but I would HIGHLY suggest going to each one. He makes the subject matter very interesting as he is very passionate about it and the lectures make you think. If you need a science with lab, take this course with him.
Absolutely rude and unprofessional when teaching. He is rude when responding to emails and makes culturally insensitive jokes during class. He calls people out when after they get to use the bathroom. If you can switch out before it is too late.
If you are looking for the easiest A of your college career take Life Sci with Prof. Shea. Attendance is never taken and the entire course is based off of four take home exams. Google the answers and your set.
Fantastic professor for Life Science 1. Did not need to go to class but if you did there was opportunity to get a full letter grade added to your final grade. All tests were take home, open note open collab. Easy to read textbook. Very funny. Would recommend the lectures.
Here's a guy who gets it. Prof. Shea knows his class is taken by students in other majors. He didn't dive too deep, and instead wanted us to get the big picture. He didn't have difficult exams or attendance requirements, and I still did plenty of learning. As a CS major who was also taking 3000/4000 level CS courses, thank you Professor Shea.
This is the easiest class that I ever took, you don't have to show up to the lectures. Everything is online, the quizzes are pretty straightforward. I probably attended 3 classes during the whole semester and still did pretty well. The labs was every other week so it was pretty nice.
Professor Shea is awesome. He says if you show up but don't do super well on exams he will boost your grade. He is super nice and is a lot of help. He is also super funny!
Class wasn' for bio majors. He wasn' a bad professor. He wrote the book so you have to buy it to do the exams. Attendance doesnt matter and he doesnt care if you come or not but if you do show up, he doesn' want you on your phone or on your laptop. Makes a lot of jokes but they're science jokes so dont hold out. No extra credit. Exams are online
Fantastic guy for Life Science 1. Class attendance was optional when I had him but if you did go you had the opportunity to get extra credit for showing up. All tests were take home!
Easy A. You don't even need to show up to class, I went for the first week and didn't go after. There are four exams online, which you can use your textbook, google, and work with people on it. Very easy to get above a 90 on every exam. Also no final exam. Would recommend taking, also the lab that goes along with it is very easy as well.
Dr. Shea is great, he is funny and nice and gives good lectures Attendance is beginning to become an issue so he is cracking down on it but it isn't mandatory My only complaint is that even when you attend EVERY class, the lectures do not prepare you for the tests Using google is a nightmare the answers aren't on his lecture slide Great dude though
Lecture based class, he throws in a lot of jokes to keep students interested. Grading is based off of exams, exams are pretty reasonable and easy.
I'm surprised his rating isnt higher. All exams are online. All answers are online. You dont need to go to class. The first week I did though, he was pretty funny. If you have even the slightest bit of common sense, and know how to use the internet, you can get a 100 on every single exam. Easiest A and GPA booster out there.
the whole class grade is based on 4 online exams. you need to spend about 70$ for the online course+exams. i didnt go to many classes bc i was originally bio and this was a basic level course. so do go to classes to ask questions and get help if you feel lost or dont do well on exams
Professor Shea is an amazing professor. Easy A+. He explains the material in his lectures very well that it makes you want to go to each of his classes and hear him talk. He is also very funny as he makes jokes throughout his lectures. All of his exams are online and if you know how to use Google, then all of the answers are online too.
SUPER EASY CLASS! TAKE THIS CLASS! 3-4 tests all online, open-book open notes. Does not take attendance. Always super nice, tests are 50+ questions multiple choice, but very reasonable. If you don't like science this is the perfect course for you
Big lecture hall - attendance appreciated, but not required
Really cool guy! Pretty funny too! Your grade is 4 tests that are open note and online. You dont need to take notes, he makes it interesting enough that you pay attention. Definitely a class worth taking
(life sci 2) literally one of the chillest professors at this school. his lectures are really worthwhile (if you show up or watch recordings) it is very interactive and digestible, the course is graded on 2-4 exams on the online textbook (i dont know how he has less than a 5.0)
YALL if science isn't ur thing, this class is for you! you need the online book to submit tests. tests are taken @home (u know what that means) he encourages you to use resources to do well because he knows science is not for everyone lol. he tries to make notes as straight forward as possible. funny guy & you will do well as long as you keep up
He is very into the topic he teaches and tries to make it enjoyable but honestly does not, he makes students feel unwanted because he will call them out for walking out the door during class even though he doesnt know the reason as to why their leaving (bathroom, etc). only graded by 4 tests, that are somewhat easy though.
He is great, very laid back. He just wants you to enjoy class. You dont have to go to every class but you get extra credit sometimes. The content is interesting and if you just show up and comment once during class youll pass.
He is great. You are only graded on three exams which he wants you to look up and do well on. I went to class because sometimes he gives extra credit, but also he's a great lecturer and is very engaging. The class is all stuff that you learn in middle school so if you dont pass its because you didnt even try.
Professor Shea was an excellent professor that knew what he was talking about and made it easy for non-biology majors to understand. He does not make attendance mandatory but he will take it a few days throughout the semester, a great opportunity for some bonus points. He has 3 tests that are all online and very easy to do well on.
Dr. T is a funny professor, but not a reasonable grader. He promised to give extra credit but he'll not give you at the end of the semester.
Easily one of the best professors I have had. Even though the course wasn't directly aligned with with my degree (CS) and attendance is optional, I still found myself looking forward to the lectures. Overall a great professor and a great person in general. 4 online tests, collaboration is encouraged. Not a hard class, but learned a lot.
graded only by tests, all online but questions can be difficult
I am a CS major taking this class for a requirement, and even though attendance isn't mandatory, he still makes it very interesting and funny. I always end up attending lectures. He knows what he is talking about and encourages asking questions. Even though I'm taking this virtually this fall, I highly recommend him!
He was very rude when people asked him questions over email, he told us we would fail in life. What he doesnt understand is that during this pandemic, many students have become severely depressed and do not have the energy to attend class but still want to pass. When they ask for a verification, dont call them failures and treat them as less.
He is literally the sweetest person of all time. He records his lectures beforehand and also does the zoom meetings. He only gives out 3 exams but they're really easy. He said we could do this with other people, use notes, google the answers etc. He was just down to earth and has a humor of a dad.
He explains basic biology in a way that everyone can understand. Even though attendance isn't mandatory, I still go to all his meetings because I simply love listening to this man. I wish his lectures were in person. Protect Dr. Shea at all costs.
Just take him dude, don't overthink. It's an easy class
Dr. Shea's a passionate lecturer. You'll only be graded on 4 open-note tests. Easy A, though you're required to buy the book in order to take the tests.
Dr. Shea is very passionate in what he teaches about, he can go on for hours on a topic! You will be graded on 4 exams, no final! You should show up and listen, even if it's information you already know. He makes learning fun and interesting, he even has Elon Musk in his textbook lol! There is no homework, but you are required to buy the textbook.
Took him for life science 2 lecture. You honestly don't have to show up just look at slides and you're good for the exams. Class is only graded on three exams that are open note/book.
I could not have wished for a better Life science professor than Thomas Shea. He made his classes fun and entertaining and kept the student engaged. The exams were not hard and are take home therefore they were easy to do. Overall I highly recommend taking his courses.
His class is very easy but hes made transphobic comments and berates students but the University has yet to do anything as he is tenured. This has been reported and petitions have been created, but no action has been taken to address his comments and blatant disrespect toward students.
He wrote his own textbook. He is really nice, but blunt. His tests are really easy, there's 4. He's pretty busy, really short email responses. Passionate about what he talks about. Easy to understand.
The professor is really nice, but can sometimes be passive aggressive. The lectures can get boring, but attendance isnt mandatory. The class itself is the easiest one youll ever take. 4 tests and theyre all open everything and take home.
Professor Shea is very funny and makes the lectures entertaining. Attendance isn't mandatory and the lectures are recorded and posted online, so no need to worry about missing classes. There is no homework or final. Just 4 exams based on what he lectures. All the exams are online and you have roughly a week to do each. I would call it an easy A.
I showed up to his class for the first two weeks of school and never went again lol. He does not care if you attend class or not, and doesn't give homework. He just gives 4 exams which are all online and easy to do because he literally tells you to use google and anything you want. Easy A.
He's nice for the most part, but is very passive aggressive, and has no problem poking fun at you/calling you out. Attendance isn't mandatory, and all of his lectures are posted online. The class is boring so people just stopped going. There's no midterm or final. There's only 4 tests, and he said that you can use the textbook, google, whatever.
Attendance is not mandatory and four easy exams are the only things that count for your exams. Definitely recommend taking.
This class is a joke honestly maybe showed up one time if that. Take him easy A
Professor Shea is a funny guy and always cracking himself up, but his class just got very boring after awhile. The exams are all online and he encourages you to look up the answers.
I took his life science class in the Fall, and he was amazing! Attendance isn't mandatory at all, but I showed up anyway because I didn't have anything else better to do. He's pretty likeable, animated personality/lectures, and pretty cool guy all around. The only thing that was graded was 4 multiple choice exams which is very doable.
Professor Shea is by far the best and funniest professor here at UML. He really knows his stuff and loves to answer questions from students. Although not a lot of people attend his lectures, I encourage you to go. This class is definitely a de-stressor from all the other classes.
The best, highly recommended
Easy A, please take him. I cannot stress enough. Please if you have a chance take this guy !!!!!
You buy his book and then have 3-4 tests on it that are done online outside of class, and they are open-book and have 50 multiple-choice questions each. Easy class to take. Short lectures but have a lot of content and are interesting.
Professor is very sweet, and funny. Everyone tends to skip his class because its a huge lecture hall. You have to buy the online book since you will be taking the tests on there. They are 50 questions and are open web. Other then that you're not graded to hard. Everything is online. SUPER EASY
He only has four online tests that make up your grade. He "requires" attendance but most students didn't show up, but he was very passive aggressive during class. He banned electronics including computers. His lectures are fine, just not the most interesting subject. If you're only looking for an easy A for a science with lab, take this class.
Professor Shea is amazing. He gives long lectures which may be a little boring if you're not interested in science, but he keeps your attention with his sense of humor. He makes a lot of real-life connections to make the content easy to understand. There are 4 online exams and attendance is not mandatory but I recommend going.
Thomas Shea is a great professor who is very passionate about what he teaches. Attendance isn't mandatory and there are 4 exams that are online.
Class is the easiest on campus. He is a really nice guy and while you don't need to attend lectures, he is a good teacher. Only graded on tests that are completely open book.
Prof. Shea is one of the best professors I have had. He is so passionate about what he teaches and can make something boring more interesting. His attendance is not mandatory but don't take advantage it, you will miss one of the very few professors who is excited to teach and shows it. There are 4 online exams and are easy if you pay attention.
He may say attendance is mandatory, but he doesn't take it. You only ever have 4 grades, tests taken though his own online textbook. He literally tells you you can use Google, Siri, your notes, the book, whatever you want. You don't need to go to class but if you do he is passionate about the topics. But he will pick on you if you wear headphones!
4 Exams. I don't think he realizes we just don't care. This is a easy class many engineering majors take. Never attended a single class. All the answers are on chegg just look up the question and type chegg after it. He's passionate about biology; unfortunately i don't care at all about. good teacher though. definitely a mean person when you email.
Very rude and disrespectful over email.
Great guy great class
This class was pretty easy, you do not need to show up to lectures. You are only graded on 4 exams which are open everything and taken on your own time.
Requires (one time) E-Textbook purchase to take exams on Trunity. No classwork or homework, and all lectures are recorded. 4 exams, all open notes. Super funny guy, his lectures are hysterical, but he's not great at emailing. He's very evidently passionate about what he teaches. Awesome class, WHOLEHEARTEDLY recommend.
Do not need to attend his lectures. its like a 200+ students class. it's only 4 online exams. that's it. Felt more like an online class. which is nice. Online exams is open book and all his lectures can be found on blackboard.
Super cool professors, no need to show up to lectutures , 4 online exams the whole semester. Popping into a couple lecctures wouldn't hurt. He is a really nice person, and super easy going.
Hilarious and doesn't take attendance. 5 stars!
Great professor
tbh hardly ever went to his class but tests were so easy and very easy science class with lab to take. 100000% recommend.
No homework is involved in the class, just sit-down lectures and then online at-home exams. 4 exams that are open book, open notes open everything. Professor. Shea is a very nice individual and I enjoyed taking his class.
Professor Shea is an amazing lecturer and is very passionate about life science and the study of our earth. There are only 4 tests in total including the non cumulative final which are all open note and online. He really cares about his students and the subject he teaches.
You could complete this class in a few hours. Insanely easy, and hes mostly nice, except there are times when hes snappy.
Easy class. Dr. T is the GOAT. I think I had a B+ average but he rounded it up to an A.
Professor Shea is engaging and passionate about the subject matter. Tests are open-note, open-everything, making this an easy yet rewarding class. Unstuck AI was a great supplemental tool for exam prep.
Never really went to his class. Makes you buy his book in order to access the tests. He hates phones and computers out and will call you out. Okay guy but his class is incredibly easy. I recommend him highly if you're a lazy student and don't care about science.
This professor was easy; all of these exams are online, but you do have to buy an online textbook to access the exams for the class. The professor also doesn't allow laptops and iPads in his class. But you will be enable to use a notebook in his class.
Great and easy class if you need a Science credit.
When I took this class, the school wasn't so strict about attendance so when the only work for the lecture was 4 exams taken at home with an encouragement from the professor to make sure you look up the answers you may not know, I didn't attend the lecture for months. He is a cool guy, tries to make class fun, and the class text was written by him.
Prof Shea is a great lecturer that cares alot for the class. The issue is that his class is so painfully easy that no one cares. He was forced by the uni to be stricter on attendance but still uses codes ;) Online take home tests that are painfully simple and easy. Take him if you want an easy science class. Lab is also painfully easy.
This class is basically a science class for non-science majors. Its very easy, attendance was not mandatory in life science 1 but he started using codes in life science 2. I sat near the front and played games on my laptop. All you have to do is periodically seem engaged and ask a question or two and then he will never call you out.
Great professor, would take again.
The goat. All exams are online and he encourages using AI to take them. I never went to a single class and got an A+.
the only grades are 4 online, unproctored exams, very funny professor and the lectures were very useful. class would have been amazing if people participated but it was at 9:30 in the morning in a massive lecture hall. he often makes jokes during lectures and knows what he is teaching inside and out, if you want an easy SCL credit take him
I took Life Science I with Professor Shea. The class was super easy and had online quizzes. One negative part of the class is that you have to buy his book to do homework. Is it just me, or doesn't that sound like he is making a profit from this lol.
Great lecture professor; very passionate about the material, engaging and interesting lectures. Attendance is not mandatory and four exams which are all online, so easy to do well. Textbook that you have to buy to complete the exams, other than this great class highly recommend.
Life Science I with Shea couldn't have been easier. There were four exams and they were all online; he encouraged students to look up the answers. He is a funny man and he knows a lot about science, so his lectures are interesting. Note that he does promote a certain ideological point of view. "Borders are constructs, we are all one," etc.
