Very nice guy and extremely knowledgable. Will pick team your 2nd class and work all term long as team. Very Helpful with learning the calculator. Text is nebulous. His quizzes and Homework can be too. HW project for each team member. Can resubmit HW problems missed up to 2 times. He is a perfectionist on HW submissions. Stickler on attendance.
Very good at pronouncing words. LOL, sounds almost like the boss off of Office Space.. Ummm yah. Very thurough in his teaching, and great group project ideas. Great math teacher! I will take him for the rest of my math classes if I can.
This teacher is a wonderful person who is very helpful towards his students. More people should take his classes.
If you hate word problems, BEWARE! He is a funny guy, and an okay teacher... I guess. On a personal level, I am crash+burn on the word problems. He has an interesting way of teaching, though it worries me... because I've taken math through calculas within the last 2 years and I'm getting an F in his class (Math 95).
Tom is a great guy to take math from. He is funny and easy going in his class. Anyone struggling in Math or unsure should take it from him. He teaches at a good pace but explains EVERYTHING!
He is nice but very odd. He is unclear and his lectures are pretty useless. Seriously, 3 hrs on 1 problem! His quizes are miss-leading so watch out! He does have a unique way of teaching but if you really want to KNOW math 95 and plan to move up, you should keep looking.
FREAK SHOW! The only class I've ever HAD to take asprin for. I got an A, but regardless I would not suggest taking him. We spent 2.5 hours on the syllabus alone! Moreover, it is very hard to get over his deranged way of speaking. Calling him thorough is an understatement. His test are all conceptual; to make it more obnoxious-TRICK QUESTIONS!
I have always struggled in math. He was usually clear in his instruction and always willing and able to answer questions. I understood his instruction better than any other and actually earned my highest math grade EVER for this class. I highly recommend him--especially if math is "hard" for you.
ugggghhh i hated this class! he spent FOREVER on explaining EVERYTHING. sure he was very clear, but sometimes tooooooooo clear! i did not like his teaching style, and he just plain annoyed me. would not suggest
Pedantic! Songer could find a way to make kitty cats sound boring and confusing. Tests are tricky. There were many times I wished I'd read this site BEFORE signing up for him. He doesn't answer questions, he just rephrases what he just said and walks around the room with his hands clasped. He gives vague hints when you ask for help. Thanks. Great.
Thomas tries very hard to meet the needs of his students - he is very fair. I was quite afraid of statistics and he made it fun and interesting. You have to organize your quizzes and homework and keep studying them throughout the term. You will get an B or even an A if you put in the effort. He is very approachable w/qstns.
he's terrible. his intentions are good but his game plan is rotten. he'll talk in circles if you ever have a question and you'll soon get sick of the fake smile and double fingered point. the entire class is rushed it seems and you just get more and more confused. unless you are good at teaching yourself, i would avoid him.
He is a very knowledgeable professor, but he can’t get down to students’ level. His homeworks are very difficult; sometimes the tutor couldn’t help me to solve them. If you ask him a question he goes on and on but you still didn’t get a real answer to your question. His quizzes are tricky!!! I don’t recommend him at all!

Tom is very articulate and specific with information but does not provide a good picture of how differnt concepts relate to one another. Class is very highly stuctured which may be bad for some. Questions on quizes and homework are extensions (sometimes distant) of what you learn in class so you have to figure out on your own how to apply concepts.
Asking questions of this instructor is a waste of your time and everyone else around you.
If you're a serious student, avoid this professor. If you're just trying to get your business degree and view attending class as an unwelcome interruption in your exploration of the effects of alchohol, sign right up; mandatory group-work means that you'll get a passing grade as long as you get at least one good student in your group.
You’d benefit more from taking an online class than statistics course from Thomas. You have to attend class or loose valuable participation and attendance points. He forces you to participate and talks with his hands. Its very hard to explain him, but once you actually experience him you’ll understand. Reading everyone’s posts made me chuckle.
his teaching style is so group oriented that the entire class spends 2 hours working together every period on only one or two problems. with a detailed but never repeated view on each concept, the quizzes and test are very hard. oh, and his manerisms might potentially drive you insane.
Really nice approachable guy but, as others commented we spend sooo much time on a single topic. And do you really need to "check what your group thinks" on everything discussed? It is torture going to this class. Easy A if you can stand the pain and need detailed explanation. If you tend to "get it" and want to move quickly this isn't the class.
Took several classes with this professor. I really liked the class structure. Lots of group work on problems and great lecture. Willing to spend time after class if you have questions.
It started off fine..but then he called on me and I slowly lost my confidence. I hv to admit that I was not paying attention to what he had just said, and I was trying to figure it out but was lost. Everyone was quiet except for the crickets. He just starred at me until I gave him my best attempt. I was wrong. so pay attention in class. I got a B.
You either like his teaching style or hate it. All group oriented, Homework is easy for the most part. A little irritating in the way he talks, and he is a REAL stickler for attendance and details on the homework. Sometimes talks about non class essential topics for long periods of time. Very passionate about teaching, and overall a good teacher.
Didn't write anything on the board/overhead. I'm a visual learner and really needed to see the math done in front of me. He expects students to rely on their group members and doesn't give direct anwers. His exams, however, are short and based off the HW and group discussions. He often told students to hold their questions until AFTER class.
FRUSTRATING!! I would say the most irritating things about this teacher is that he has material on homework/quizzes that he doesn't cover in class, and he also refuses to answer any questions, returning with ambiguous non helpful answers
He is clear in instruction, but lets other students talk too much during class. Doesn't seem to want to answer questions or discuss math in layman's terms. Had a huge issue with what was on his quizzes and final-most of which he never covered in class or in abstract ways. Attend every class and participate in group, & you will pass, but painfull
Almost never uses the textbook. He did not have a class schedule on the syllabus. Did not know how the class was going to meet the objectives for the class--and I wanted to meet all objectives. VERY TRICKY TEST QUESTIONS!
Outstanding professor! I've been to several colleges & universities, this guy is the best teacher I've ever seen. Class structure makes you have to actually think hard, so be prepared. Kind and caring, good sense of humor, flexible schedule. He makes time if asked, gives resubmission opportunities on all tests and homework. I highly recommend him!
Nice guy, but a bad teacher. Will not help you except pointless tips which did not help me. Would not take his class again. I barley passed; needed the math tutors ni math dept to get that far.
GREAT TEACHER!!! Wish more math teachers were like him. Really nice, fun, helpful, excellent instruction. Works you hard, uses the book well. Very fair grader. Kind, generous with his time, great sense of humor, cool, likable guy. Makes you EARN your grade, no easy-A's! Pay attention from day-1. Attendance required. I will take more of his classes.
why isn't he available after and before class? he definitly didn't make himself available outside of class for additional help on homework. gave me a d when i knew i was at a c+. now i have to pay again for this class. tutors couldn't even help with the way he teaches :(
His methods are very unique in the way that he groups students. IF you and your team work hard through out the class and YOU SHOW UP every lecture, you WILL pass this class and be tickled about your grade!
Very clear and thorough in his explanations, beware because he is a stickler for attendance. Almost everything is done in groups, aside from homework and lectures (and the final). requires accuracy in everything, although he is an extremely nice guy.
I took Songer for 111b also and if you get used to his unique teaching style you're bound to learn and succeed. He has goofy mannerisms and weird analities, but if you show up and do the work, getting an A is easy!
He does give every opportunity to get points. He lets you retake quizes in groups & mostly all the activities in class are done in a group. He lets you re-submit the homework, however the homework is hard. He writes his own problems and there are no examples in the book to help. The tutors in the Math Lab cant help either.
I took his stats 243 as well and I actually waited for when his 244 class was available to take. Thomas gives one hard assignment for the class which he gives you chances to fix for full grade. I only wish I took 111b with him. He likes using the good calculator, but you'll find his class teaches you how to use that too. Highly recommended.
Songer is an extreme perfectionist. He said it himself on the last day of class.
You seriously don't know what you're missing if you need to take stats but you haven't taken Mr. Songer's class. I took a stats class as an undergraduate and did not learn a thing. Mr. Songer makes statistics clear and meaningful instead of confusing, cold, and dark. Never had a better math teacher in my life. He's incredibly helpful.
I got a B in his class, so I am not saying anything to get revenge, but I am warning all of you - he is useless for answering ANY questions, attendance is absolutely mandatory, his quizzes are impossible, even in group retakes, he is the most passive agressive teacher I've ever met. It would be an absolute mistake taking his class. Find ANYONE else
Mr. Songer is the very best math teacher I've ever had (by far). He's extremely helpful & friendly, his homework and tests are very good too especially if you study and attend class. I'd take more classes from him for sure if I could - but I'm returning to University in the Fall (Mr. Songer teaches much better than even the University teachers do!)
He is very picky and his quizzes and final questions very very tricky, I haven't ever seen instructors teach math just by hand like him. You can't get 20% at homework.
Class is group oriented - sit next to people who look like serious students on first day - your grade will depend on it. Show up to each class, study your work and it's impossible to fail. Personality wise, he's VERY bizarre and passive aggresive. Found the class very unenjoyable, but if I had to take 244 I'd actually take him again (oddly enough)
This guy is a REALLY GREAT TEACHER. His 244 course is hard (not just another wasted-time easy-A math class like other math teachers give). Take Tom's course if you actually want to learn, and you did well in the pre-req. Attend all classes. Work well with others. Give your best. Very cool and nice guy too - I highly recommend him. Take his courses!
(even worse at times he thinks he does but it?s painful..), routines cannot be changed and he has absolutely NO flexibility. If he is interrupted then he has to start over from the beginning .He makes you think that he cares about you but he really doesn?t. He is no help, I had to get all my help from the tutoring center. And anytime I stayed afte
This teacher is the worst I have ever had. He is extremely weird and takes forever to answer a question. It took him 5 weeks to finish the first chapter! His tests are impossible and he has taught none of the material he puts on tests.DO NOT TAKE HIM!His homework is so hard the tutoring center didnt even understand the questions! Worst teacher ever
He always accepted homework immediately after class (its typed, so it?s obvious that it was completed when you came to class, I waited in one of his famous forever question and answer lines, when it was finally my turn and I handed in my homework... he said he wouldn?t accept it because it was "late".
I really dread going to his class. He takes so long to answer someones question that we can't even finish a problem in the class! It shouldnt take 2 hours to finish one problem!! The first week of class all we did was go over the syllabus! 2 days of no math! I WANT A REFUND, seriously his class is a joke. I regret taking his class, AVOID THIS GUY!
Truly excellent instructor. [Ignore the ONE revenge reviewer posting all eight October ratings below!] Songer is really outstanding - students love this guy (he's very popular at PCC) and take his classes over other instructors. I wish all teachers taught like him!! I recommend him highly. Attend all classes, do good work, a good grade will follow.
I'm in his class now, and I have to say that he is a horrible teacher. His quizzes are very hard and involve problems he hasn't even gone over in class. His assignments are just as hard and the only help I can get is from the tutoring center. I would seriously look for any other teacher if you actually want to learn math. Take anyone else!
I've always been an A student until I took Songer's class (I already have a double undergrad degree and am going back to school for nursing). I find him to be the wierdest professor I've ever had, difficult to understand because he doesn't give clear answers to questions. I didn't find him helpful when I approached him after class for questions.
I like his class, will surely take 244 from him. His tests are good, not too hard or easy. He actually collects & grades homework! (many stats teachers don't). You WILL actually LEARN a lot in his class if you try! :) No easy-A just for showing up and writing some BS, as in many other teachers classes. VERY approachable, will help a LOT if you ask!
He's VERY clear, organized, thorough. Does awesome examples in class, covers very well what ends up on quiz and homework (it's still hard though!) When quiz or homework problems will be turned in for grade, he thankfully doesn't just give you the answers BEFORE you turn it in (you still have to DO the WORK!), but he does give TONS of helpful hints!
Songer was very thorough, extremely nice, and uses a very fair grading system. The class is divided into groups of four which splits the work load. He averages quiz grades with group retakes. Allows for 3 submissions of each HW packet. Quizes and Final are multiple choice! After hearing about the other stats teachers, youd be lucky to have him!
I had this class for 2nd term Stats. Tom will make sure that you understand the material and do what it takes to answer questions, homework - anything. Great teacher. I, personally, didn't like the group work or multiple choice tests - so this was difficult for me. However, I feel I really learned a lot. Again - GREAT teacher!
The book has thousands of great HW problems, but he created his own, many of them deliberately misleading. He fanatical insists on exact HW formatting details. 100% of the class is groupwork-based. Losing points for attendance seems inappropriate. Mr. Songer DEFINITELY knows his material, even if his style is rather odd.
Easily the worst teacher I have had in my college career. The book is useless in this class, and was a pointless purchase. He teaches as if the students have never taken math before (7+3 is…-7+3 is...type of questions). Homework and in class context has nothing to do with quizzes or test. Avoid if at all possible.
I love my classes with Tom. Cool dude, funny jokes (for a math prof), organized, and cares. I love his manner, style, methods. Tests & homework are NOT easy, but not too hard - you just need to actually study. Gives LOTS of extra help too, if you just ask. Bad/lazy students won't enjoy or do well. Good students will enjoy, AND do well.
Wonderful teacher!! Lectures were entertaining & instructive. Answered ALL our in-class questions (even the easy/simple ones), without making anybody look or feel dumb. Tests & homework were tough (its stats!), but he gave excellent help. Made math fun for me! Good use of book. Mandatory attendance.
Tom made stats fun for me too. I was afraid at first, but he taught great (not too fast or too slow), gave good examples, made sure all questions were answered well. Mandatory attendance was actually good for me, made me show up and LEARN when I might have sometimes skipped. Bad students will whine a lot - but they always do that! ;) GREAT CLASS!
Mr Songer's class actually helped me get my job. When I applied for my analyst job that requires stats, I said Mr Songer was my teacher - and the interviewer (now my boss) told me he also took Mr Songer's class and so he knew I was very well prepared!! We all loved Mr Songer's classes, his teaching is superb. His attendance policy was fine with us.
Before I took this class, I actually enjoyed stats. His teaching style is absolutely awful, though. Patronizing tone, class micromanagement (don't try to go to the bathroom without public questioning), very little board-work, and homework problems that are graded AND not covered in class or the textbook. AVOID HIM!!!
For me, before I took Mr. Songer's class, I hated stats (prior teacher was bad). Mr. Songer was much better. Now I actually LIKE stats! His style is great & FUN. Managed class effectively & respected students. Good book use. Quizzes & homework were not EASY, but not too hard. Gave nice help in & out of class. We liked him a lot. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
A bad teacher that reinforces the stigma of how bad Community colleges can be. Bad as it can get.
Songer is very nice and an extremely clear speaker. He words things very precisely so the students won't be confused easily. Complicated topics become easy to understand. Some people in my class had a problem with him not allowing phones, ipods, food, and things like that, but i didn't care. Overall he was extremely nice and was not very strict.
I'm taking Songer's 243 this term and we all love him. He's one of the best professors ever. And I don't normally like math! Songer is clear, respectful, smart, fun, keeps class in order. Teaches even better than my University professors. Makes me want to take more stats (amazing). I'll take his 244, like many others who enjoy him. Recommended!
I'm very happy with Songer. He really cares, and teaches at "college level" unlike many CC math teachers. Spent hours with us after class to help with the hard stuff. Made stats fun (odd for me as I don't like math). His homework and quiz problems made us think hard, learn better, deeper. No phones/food allowed, which was good. Overall great class!
Tough grader, hard quiz's but does have group retakes to raise score, tough homework that stumps tutors in tutoring center. Grade is 100 points 20 homework, 20 participation, 20 attendance, 20 quiz's and 20 final. Does allow you to submit homework 3 times. Very tough class to get an A
Great fun class, I had a great time in his class. I've never learned so much, I feel like I really know stats now! Maybe I'll next take 244 even though I don't need to, I can't believe I'm saying that. If I do take 244 I'll take it from Songer. Reading, quizes and homework were hard, but very good for learning. He grades fair and teaches very well.
Love this teacher! I used to hate math but now kind of like it. Tom's class was not easy, but I learned more from him than any other class. Whole class loved him. Exams were hard but he grades fair and teaches well. Think I'll take his next 244 course too. He's very popular at PCC (for good reason).
Love the class! Uses groups, course is interactive (not merely lecture). Prefers typed work, but is flexible. Explains well. Gives book problems as homework, then works them all on the board (writes clearly too). Great feedback in class, on homework, and on our group projects. I'm ready for Math 95!
So glad I found this teacher. Arrives early, and stays late, to help us. No food/phone in class (keeps us focused). Very nice, respectful. Homework & tests well designed, good difficulty level. Explains well, nice groups, uses board & tech together well. Works lots of problems in class. Recommended.
I truly enjoyed Mr. Songer's class. The groupwork was fun, tests and homework were designed to be learning experiences (and thankfully were re-submittable), he explained well and gave lots of help. Thanks for a great class!
He really loves his work and seems to love his students. The only thing bad is his tone of voice that can seem as though your IQ level is -3 deviations away from average. His grading system is extremely lenient for a reason which may be tied to his personal teaching style. Better have a lot of time on your hands.
Wow what a fun class! I really enjoyed Mr. Songer's class and wish I took all my classes from him. I like how he is respectful of us and doesn't teach too easy or too hard, it was just right for me. Not an easy grade but he's a fair grader I thought and not too strict. Great class thanks Mr. Songer!
Tests and quizzes are tough but only worth 40% of grade overall. Everything in this class is done as a group, which I enjoyed (though others did not). I didn't get a single A on any quiz or the final, but still got an A in the class. Mr. Songer is kind of a weird guy but presents the material well and is very willing to help his students,
I am stunned by the positive reviews - Mr. Songer might be a nice guy, but he is a terrible teacher. Expects the class to teach itself with extremely vague "help". How vague? When asked if there were going to be questions from chapter 21 on the test. His reply was "Only inasmuch as chpt 21 is build upon chapters 19 & 20." Really?
Very group oriented, refers you to your group for help with questions and understanding, doesn't give any help outside of his lecture. Always late. Treats you as if your children. I took mth 70 years ago in high school and thought this would be a breeze, NOT. He's not very clear in explaining things, has a weird grading system and never answers ??s
I really enjoyed class with him. Always nice, and he helped us well. Very respectful. Answered questions clearly. Never lets anyone look or feel dumb. Returned homework fast, stayed after to help us, graded fairly. Group work was awesome! Course and material are structured well. I'll take more classes from him, and I do recommend him. Good teacher!
I liked this instructor a lot and the way he taught the class was really fun too. I learned a ton and wish I found this instructor sooner. Groups were awesome and helped us all work smarter as teams. He would show up early and stay late too, to help us with all our questions. Attendance was required but this actually helped us too. Awesome teacher.
Tom obviously loves to teach. But has a limiting scope of stats, he has only one way of doing and looking at stats and tries but doesn't succeed in engaging the class. I enjoyed his group-work style, but I think he focused on the format (of the groups and HW submissions) more then necessary and class time was not always used efficiently.
I got my Actuarial Assistant job because I took Songer's classes. My boss says he only hires those who take stats from Songer, because then he knows they were actually taught well. I took his Mth 243, then took his Mth 244 to stay with him. I was much better prepared than students from other teachers, often helping them. Songer was really nice too.
I admit I was suspicious at first, but I ended up having a great time in Mr Songer's class. Initially I thought his rules for our homework etc were just picky, but in later more advanced classes (I'm in grad school now) I found that his training really paid off for me, and, I am much better prepared than my other classmates now. I do recommend him.
Wonderful instructor, wonderful class. It turned out I didn't need this class after all, but now I'm glad I took it. I might even take the next class (stat 244) with Mr. Songer now, because it was a good experience and I want to learn more statistics now. I never thought I'd say that about math, but I actually liked it, which is a first for me.
What can I say, math with Songer was super cool. I was worried but it turned out really good. Group work was fun too. His explanations are clear and well paced. Homework was kinda cool, quizes not too hard. He helped me a lot, and answered all my questions. I attended every class, paid attention, and got a good grade. I liked it. Thanks Mr Songer!
This was a very challening class! It was mostly statistics, and the homework problems were NOT in the textbook. There is the option to redo homework 2X, as well as retake quizes as a group to get a better score, thankfully. He does give great instructions on how to use the graphing calculator to solve the problems, and is very paitent.
I think Mr. Songer is a great instructor and did a great job teaching me stats. I'm going to take the next class from Mr. Songer too, and I'm excited about it and studying my book already, even though it's Christmas break. That should tell you something right there! Attendance was mandatory, and no cell phones (which was good). Good group work too.
It was pretty fun and I think he is a good instructor. He taught me a lot and his help was good. If I need more math for my major, I will probably take more classes from Mr Songer. It turns out that statistics is actually pretty fun.
For the first time, I actually liked a math class. I thought this was a great class and a great and nice teacher too. Thanks Mr. Songer for the class and all your awesome help! I sure hope I get to have you again for more classes someday.
Mr. Songer is, quite frankly, intolerable. Class moves very slow as he beats concepts into the ground, and what he teaches in class has little to no relevance to the HW he gives out. If you do not have smart group members you will probably be screwed. Gives very vague hints on HW and tutoring center was clueless on some of his problems.
I'm so glad I found Mr Songer. Finally, a nice teacher, who knows how to teach! He's saved my math career. My stats 243 teacher didn't get us to really learn anything, but Mr Songer fixed that and more. Group work is awesome, and fun too. HW and tests are fine, and not overly hard if you read/study/ask questions. We're learning a ton. Great class!
I really like the teaching and group work. The work is hard, but it is making us learn well. This class rocks!
Simply the best and nicest teacher I've ever met. I wish I'd taken Math 243 from Mr. Songer. I've learned statistics very well from him, and I now feel ready to go further with school. Good quizzes and group work - and he even lets us resubmit improved versions of our group projects for extra credit. I highly recommend him. Thank you Mr. Songer!
Barely ever taught us to work out problems!! All he did was assign hw to groups and expects you to learn it on your own! NEVER remembers peoples' names (annoying) & LOVES to beat around the bush. Do not take this teacher if you're already struggling w/ math. Spends LOTS OF useless time asking us if we have "questions" when he could be teaching!
I think this class is really neat, I'm having fun and actually learning a ton of statistics at the same time. Songer explains and instructs well and includes good applications too so it all stays in context. He is very patient and kind (which I appreciate) and makes sure everyone feels included and learns well too. I'm so glad I'm taking his class!
Worst teacher I've ever had! Wastes so much time. Quizzes are nothing like what you learn on your hw assignments, which by the way, you must learn on your own. Is very vague and barely goes through things the class finds confusing. A very hard class to like. Nice guy, horrible teacher. Expects you to read the book on your own which sucks.
The best teacher I've ever had, hands down! I love this class! I never liked math before, but Mr. Songer makes everything clear and real world based and gives tons of help if you ask! I'm not a math person but I think I will take his Math 244 class after this one. I like the groups, and how he grades too. Maybe I like math now? Thanks Mr. Songer!!!
I am a 4.0 student. This is NOT an easy class. Mr Songer is polite- but unhelpful. I have a genuine desire to learn statistics, but found this class beyond frustrating. Other reviews can be misleading! Expect quizzes to be difficult, homework unrelated to lecture, and your stress level to increase.
To my surprise I am really liking this class. I never thought I'd like stats, but this is pretty cool stuff. Songer teaches well. You have to do the work, but he rewards you when you do. The hw, quiz are not easy, but are ok if you study and come to class. He is great at answering questions and helping. I'm glad I found his class, it is a good one.
I've taken several math courses and NEVER HAVE I EVER had one like this. WASTES WAY TOO much time talking about things that don't make sense. Hw has nothing to do w/ quizzes. When he asks if we want to review for a quiz, it usually means "spend an entire hour on 1 problem that has NOTHING to do with ANYTHING" This class changed the way I view math.
This class has me defeated. He gives very hard homework problems, and teaches very little on how to do them. Quizzes are a nightmare. I feel he is not interested in the success of students. Why won't he just SHOW us HOW to do stuff?! It's like being blindfolded!
I think Songer's class is very good. He's nice, friendly, but not an easy grader (unlike other teachers who let you pass for just showing up). You have to work hard for an A but that makes me at least learn better. He's helped me a lot. I already recommend him to my friends that need to take statistics, and I will for sure take more of his classes.
Stats is a tough class, but Mr. Songer makes it easier for me. He teaches good, but does make us think hard (which I like, but some aren't used to). But if you try, attend all days, take good notes, actually do the reading, you WILL do well in his class. Don't take if you want an 'easy grade'. My last teacher gave us test answers, before the tests!
Never recommending this to anyone. Barely learned anything. Expects us to read the entire book on our own and know everything! Does not go over things thoroughly. Easily the worst teacher I've had in my college life. It's true, he's a nice guy but definitely not a great teacher. I wish he would have just taught & stopped beating around the bush.
Groups, lecture, examples are good. My last math teacher never graded hw, returned tests, or made us think. Tom gives email advice, practice hw problems, grades quizzes, hw projects, attendance, class participation, and the final. Calls on us in class too, by name. Actually makes us think and learn, which I like in a class and teacher. Recommended.
Mr. Songer is nice, but seems to lose track of what to teach. Examples in class do not prepare us for HW or quizzes; examples in book do not prepare us for HW or quizzes. Won't answer direct questions. ONLY take this instructor if you're good at learning on your own or from fellow students. This class made me hate group work a lot.
My favorite class this term. Group work, class examples are excellent. He answers questions well, but won't do your work for you. Instead, you must read, try, persist and do some thinking for yourself (this is a good thing). He gives every opportunity to succeed, and helps a lot when asked. Class is well organized, fun. I'll take Math 244 from him.
I'm not a "math person" but this class is pretty good I think. You have to slack pretty hard to do badly in this class. If you attend each day, read, study, take notes - then quizzes and homework are easy. He even gives hints and feedback if you miss homework problems, then lets you resubmit homework (twice) to boost your grade if you want. Cool!!!
You have to rely on the book and group mates to actually understand the material. He's sort of all over the place. Nice guy and it's almost impossible to fail this class but hard to learn.
Statistics was a class I was dreading, but I'm so glad I found Mr Songer. He actually makes it fun! His examples are real-life, and his gentle, kind attitude along with all the help he gives me is making it a good experience. I've never learned so much in one course before! If he teaches the next course (Math 244) in the Summer, I'm there. Thanks!!
I think Mr. Sanger is nice instructor who may know Statistics, but he's terrible at teaching. He used class time to grade homework. Most of our work is group work. He doesn't use class time efficiently. I really think school should hire somebody else who can thoroughly explain math because math is not going to make sense itself.
Finally a math class I enjoy. A nice mix of theory, application, and group work that has now turned me into a math-geek. Who knew! I never liked math before, but now I'm thinking of maybe going into math. Songer helps a lot, will even grade your homework during office hours if you ask. I love the groupwork, calculator, and retakes. Very cool class!
The class moved fast and covered a lot of ground. You must attend class regularly, don't slack, and also do the reading assignments to do well in his course. I do recommend his class, but be sure to keep up or it may be tough to recover since much happens each day in class. Lots of individual and group work keeps it lively and fun. I learned a lot.
Songer is a conundrum in himself. He claims to always say that "community college students are the busiest people in the world.", but his actions don't reflect what hey says. Group projects are a major part of the grade, but he may only give you 5 days to complete them after they are completely assigned.
I liked this class more than I expected. I liked group work and having all term to complete group projects. Good pace. Redoing group work for improvement helped a lot too. I actually learned some majorly useful stuff in this class. It will help me a lot in my future school and work career. Had a fun time too, and feel ready for more higher courses.
He knows what he's talking about but he spends way too much time trying to explain certain aspects. Group projects are assigned, but doesn't really teach the material to the class. It seems like you have to teach yourself by reading the long chapters in the textbook. He sometimes talks too slow and class gets really boring.
This was my favorite class. He made stats interesting. Each day I felt smarter and inspired. I liked the group work. Points came more from team projects and less from exams, and this helped me learn better. He's also well known in Portland business. In my Forensic Accounting job interview, they asked if I took stats 244 from Songer. I got the job.
He's constantly smiling- guess he loves his job. His class can be confusing and he does not give answers.. clues but you have to dig for it. You barely use your text book, except to read. This is more of a Group Work/Project class. There are two test, both are the same (individual and group)- You Tube "statisticsfun" great videos to help. trust me!
He really loves math, and his enthusiasm is contagious. He genuinely cares about his students and makes himself readily available for anything. His class has a very strong infrastructure that focuses on job assignments and group work. He doesn't spoon feed you everything, if you don't do the reading you WILL fall behind. Would take again!
Professor Songer is one of the nicest professors I've ever had, he compliments his students and seems to truly care. That being said, he is not great at explaining content and gets way off topic. In a 2 1/2 hour class, he normally only gets through one example. The whole class grading is based off group work, if you get a bad group, you will fail!!
I took him for Math 58. Mr. Songer is VERY specific about (and is happy to constantly remind/reprimand students who forget): NO food/drinks in class NO cell phone or technology in is class NO tardiness Reprimands students in front of the class if they don't obey these rules.
Tom is a very caring person and definitely loves his job. That being said, his class can be very hard to follow but he gives many chances for success. 98% of the class is group work, so BE MINDFUL OF WHERE YOU SIT ON THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS! You will be working with the people that sit around you on each and every assignment, so choose wisely.
Spent 2 hours teaching us how to use a the program MathType that we are required to use for our group projects, and another 2 hours teaching us a function that only Ti-89 calculators can do, not TI-84s, making it impossible for me to do my work because he wants such specific numbers. I don't have $200 to spend on a new calculator like he suggests.
Doesn't assign homework in class, sends it via email at odd hours so you have to check constantly. Doesn't cover everything on the tests. Be careful where you sit on the first day because that's your group for the rest of term. Won't let you ask questions during tests unless you're the "group speaker." Always replied to emails super fast though!
This is a very group project centered class. If you have questions, he will not answer them without dancing around the actual question asked. He showed the most complex way possible even though the book showed it in a simple straightforth way, however the book was not used for the most part. He loves math, but needs to adjust his teaching style.
Songer is possibly the worst instructor I had at PCC. His class is hard just because of how incomprehensible his teaching style is. I took one hw assignment to the tutoring center and another instructor helped me... They couldn't even figure out what he was asking us to do! This class was a joke, do not take classes from him.
He was a little much to get used to at first, but is very CLEAR with expectations in this class. Great instructor-possibly best Math teacher I've ever had. Clear, concise, teaches at a slow pace so you learn & understand. Will push back assignments/tests if material hasn't been covered. You will work in a group-so choose wisely!
I've been taking Songer for the rest of my math classes at PCC; I loved his classes to the point where my current math (Stat243) is the third class I so far took with him. The teacher has a lot to say every class (lecture-wise, math-loving and self-loving) which kinda of takes a while instead of doing work, however, his lectures are meaningful!
Best class ever. He explains why the math is important (concepts), instead of just formulas/software. I now understand and can apply the math to my job/classes, which is awesome!! Stays late to help, always replies to email, very inspirational. Fun group work. Great sense of humor, very caring/nice, gives many chances. Loved it. Highly recommended.
I took Stats from Songer, and waited until I could get him for College Algebra. Worth it! Love his class organization. Great group-works. Used Desmos instead of calculator. He made me unafraid of algebra, which is a first! Enjoyable, funny, cares, good grader. I recommend him constantly, which is how I found him. Hope to take more classes from him.
Took MTH 105 about a year ago from Songer, with friends. Class was run well, and I enjoyed it. We learned lots of "real world" math. The mortgage math helped me to buy my house. Group work was fun. He explains well, gives many tries to get stuff right, stays late to help after class. He even helped me get a scholarship too. Great class and teacher.
I took math 98 from Songer, and finally passed and understood math. I like his teaching style. After 98, I took 105 and 243 from him too. Great classes, explains just right for me, respected us, made sure all understood and felt confident. He also wrote me a great referral letter and helped me get my current job. Caring, and was constantly helpful.
He spent 2.5 hours talking about the syllabus on the first day. Watch where you'll sit because you'll be assigned in groups. If you have a question, you have to raise your hand. Each absent counts against your grade. Other than the above, he's very passionate about his job and he's very nice. But most importantly, he knows the topic
Favorite class that I've ever taken, I will definitely be taking more classes from him, loved the groups and the personal attention from the instructor. He made class fun and a learning experience every day and I looked forward to coming to class every time. On the first day he was really friendly and made us relax and start learning. Great class!!
It seems that he is passionate about math and connecting with students, but his teaching style was not conducive to anyone in my class learning style. Be ready to teach yourself the material. He assigns homework and reading and then spends class reviewing the answers. Lectures were not helpful. Nearly impossible to know your grade in the class.
Roommate and I each took him. Really glad! My favorite class. Finally, a caring teacher who truly inspires, helps students. Friendly and funny. Grading was fair, fast. He assists all learning styles, is flexible when needed. Great emails too. LOVED the group work, it made content fun, social. Always stayed late with us when asked. Very recommended!
This was my first class with mr. songer, and it was really good, for the first time in my life I understood math. He taught in a way that actually made sense and had real world applications and wasn't too hard or picky. This was the first math class I've ever liked, we worked in teams too and the pace was just right and he helped us all learn well.
Oh my Lord.. Alright, the only reason I passed Math 111 was because of his incessant use of group work. It is exactly as it sounds, you take your test with your group as well. I had a CIS major and an Engineer in my group so... you can imagine how well I did because of my smart group. He is very kind and almost overtly excited to be teaching math.
Really really liked this class! Not sure how he did it, but somehow he made me want to be in class and do math with my team each day. I thought he explained things well. He helped me through the hard parts when I wanted help. In a way, this class has changed my life for the better, because, I feel like I do understand the math now and can use it.
Heard good things about Songer, decided to try for math 20. Good choice. Worked in groups, which was cool. Work amount was fine. Grades fast. Let us revise work for credit, which helps me learn better. Shows when you need to fix something, including the how, and why. Most important, he is kind, and loves to help. I really did like this math class.
Fantastic teacher. I learned so much in this class, more than in any other I've ever taken, hands down. He made the material relevant and worth learning. Kept the class fun and interactive and working in groups was a great feature too. I wish he was teaching Math 244! I've recommended him to over 20 people. Would love to take more classes from him.
This class is fantastic, I'm so glad that I took it from Mr. Songer. I never knew a math class could be so fun and interesting, I'm going to look for more classes from him, for sure, hopefully all my math classes. He has a great sense of humor too, grades fast, and gives many chances for getting things correct and to understand it all really well.
He makes this class a good experience. I even look forward to coming to this class each day. Why? He somehow has us enjoying ourselves while we're learning math. We get to learn in lots of different ways, and I really like working together in groups too. He's kind, gentle, funny, always helpful. Replies fast to emails. Great teacher! A good choice.
Great class if you ask me. Best experience I have ever had in a math class. I will look to take his classes in the future, even if I have to wait for them. Wish I had met this teacher many years ago. I will refer him to other people too, he is a great one to take math from, and the only one I will take for my next math courses.
I really liked this class. Will take my later math from him too, I hope he will be teaching the courses I need! I really recommend this teacher very much.
Really great teacher, knows how to keep the class going and interested. Definitely worth taking the class. Also has a good grading plan. It's hard not to pass this class when he knows how to explain things really well.
I found this to be a wonderful class with much application to my life outside of school. The class was always enjoyable. I liked how the teacher used examples that connect with real life, and interesting current events. Great sense of humor, and you can tell that he really cares about students and loves his job. I'll take stats from him next year.
This class was great. I have to eventually take calculus, and I think this class has prepared me really well for it. Probably the best math teacher I've had so far. I really wish that he was teaching math 112, I'd take it from him in a heartbeat! He made math become really fun in a way I hadn't seen before.
I loved this class! Mr. Songer is an excellent teacher. His goal is to have you enjoy math even if you already hate it. He sets it up for you to pass and succeed through group projects and extra points. Seriously, if you have failed and need a math class credit, take one from him. If I needed another class, I would wait just to take it with him.
A wonderful experience! Needed this class for degree. So glad I took it from mr. songer. Class was fun every day. We worked in groups which made it even better. Always respectful, caring, helpful. Gave good feedback, flexible policies, responded fast, and worked hard to help us succeed. Great teacher. You'll be glad if you take this class from him!
My husband and I took this class together and loved it. Outstanding class environment. The group work was key and made the class possibly the best I've had so far. The workload and pace felt just right. He always looked out for us and made sure we would succeed. Inspiring. I hope to take more math classes from Mr. Songer. Very highly recommended.
I will always take all my math classes from this teacher. He is the first teacher that really made me like math for the first time, I really liked how he made class super fun and made sure we were all ready for the next class math 98. I will take math 98 from this teacher in a heartbeat so I hope he will teach it. Take him, you'll be glad you did.
Loved this class, so glad that I found this teacher for my stats class. If you haven't taken math in a while or feel nervous about math, this teacher will help you get through it. You will also work in groups, which really made the class fun and kept us learning in a social setting. If I need more math, I will take more classes from this teacher.
This was absolutely the best math class I've ever had! We worked in teams which made all the difference. It helped me network with others and learn well. I'll take my next math class from this instructor, and have already recommended him to several friends of mine. I felt inspired and liked every single day in class.
I took STATS 1 with Thomas and he is an incredibly passionate professor, And he will openly let his class know how much he loves teaching and passionate he is about his students. Through the whole course, he makes your form groups which you will work together with through projects and test. If you have a good group, its a life saver!
Fantastic experience! I think this was the best math class I've ever had. We worked in teams during the term, and this made it work so well for me! He was always ready and available to help. Easy to reach by email too. Good pace. This class restored my math confidence, I totally enjoyed it! I will take more classes from him, and I highly recommend.
The instructions for grading were unclear, he expects you to hold on to all assignments and track your own grade, and his feedback on assignments was incredibly confusing. The lectures were boring, confusing, and tedious. You are not given a break during the 2 1/2 hour class. Do not take this class. If you miss one class you lose three points.
Conceptual class, no doing tons of problems over and over. His lectures cover the concepts and the main goal of his class is to give you a conceptual understanding. Don't buy into the negative reviews, its almost impossible to earn a C in this class unless you put absolutely zero effort in. Hes unique for sure, play his game, and you'll do great.
This was probably the best math class I ever had! I enjoyed it every day. Group work made it fantastic, along with the teacher's truly caring attitude and clear explanations. He obviously wants for everyone to succeed. He gives many chances on major graded items, which helped a lot. Highly recommended. I will now take all my math classes from him.
Loved this class! My friends told me to for sure take this class from him, and I'm so glad that I listened. I really like how he is so encouraging and supportive, and keeps everyone feeling good every class day. He has a great sense of humor, and grades really fast. Responds quickly to emails too. Take this teacher, you'll be glad that you did!
Only reason you can't skip class is because he actually grades you on attendance?? Never gives clear expectations or feedback on projects and won't actually help you with it either. It's a 2.5 hour lecture and every day is worse than the next. Do not take
Outstanding! Well designed class. Great balance of homework, project, exams, participation requirements. Teacher is friendly, respectful, grades fairly, gives good feedback. Engaging lectures, easy to understand. He gives many chances to get things right. Group work made it all fun. Easy to track your grade throughout the class. Highly recommended.
I loved every day of this class, and feel like I learned more than in any other math class. He made me love statistics! I recommend Mr. Songer to everyone I know. He also wrote me a great recommendation letter for my grad school application. If you need to take a statistics class, definitely take it from this teacher. You will be so glad you did!
My experience in this class was excellent. Each day was enjoyable, and the teacher's positive energy in the class really helped me to learn the material and feel confident. It had been a long time since my last math class, so the teacher's extra help, along with working in groups, really made this class work well for me. Great teacher and class.
mr songer was an amazing math professor. always made sure the entire class understood the math, he spends a lot of time making sure no one is given any stress from his class.
Thomas is a great teacher - this online class was quite easy. You had easy quiz, along with some questions in EdFinity every week, he did video lectures that were very helpful. He responds within 24 hours via email. I have no complaints! He was easy to work with and knows his stuff! Very easy to get an A.
Thomas was super nice and responds fast to emails! This was my first term doing remote learning and his set up was super helpful, especially for such a hard class. Grading is pretty straight forward, but you need to put the work in yourself if you want a good grade.
TAKE IT! TAKE THE CLASS! Great, well prepared video lectures and all assignments were due at the end of the term with unlimited attempts! I got 100% for the first time ever in a math class. He replies to emails quickly and is so kind. He really cares for his students and wants them to succeed.
He was very kind and his videos are very detailed and easy to follow this was by far the best math class i have taken
Super sweet guy, made all his test, quizzes, and even exams unlimited tries and due date is not due until end of term! He also provides free textbook along with instructional videos. Replies very quickly as well whenever you are stuck in an assignment. Highly recommend
Hands down best math class ever. Professor Songer is uplifting, kind, enthusiastic and truly cares about his students' success. He kept all deadlines open until the end of term and was more than understanding in regards to students' lives outside of school. He is respectful and his video lectures are outstanding.
He was the most caring and understanding I have ever had.
If I could rate Thomas higher I would, that's how much I enjoyed this class. Thomas is caring, understanding and by far one the professors I've had. TAKE HIM! You won't regret it, I've always struggled with math, but this course really made me push myself. The online videos are amazing and so helpful as well.
I am so glad I chose to take this course with Professor Songer. Its amazing to see how much effort and time he puts in for his students. He truly is the best. He made it so all of the assignments, quizzes, midterms, and even the FINAL can be attempted multiple times without penalty. He responds to emails in a kind, professional and timely manner.
Thomas was a really great teacher to take for Statistics. You can tell that his priority is for the students and wants everyone to succeed. Everything including exams was allowed unlimited attempts which I find to be so helpful for an online math class. The workload was light, exams are easy and short. Textbook reading was usually <5 pages a week.
Amazing math teacher. I thought I hated math but no, I just hated the teachers lol. He is one of the best teachers Ive had, ever. Would take all my required college math with only this teacher at this point.
Professor Songer is the best Math instructor I ever had! He is always super nice and supportive. The videos he made for Statistics were super helpful. I am usually struggling with math and need more time to finish the assignment than most students. Thankfully for me, quizzes and testes werent timed and with multiple tries!
Best math professor I had! I struggle in math ever since but his lecture videos are helpful plus the free textbook. Quizzes, assignments, and finals can be taken as many attempts as you want without any points deduction, so this class is an easy A if you do the work. Thomas responds to emails immediately with a thorough explanation. Take his class!
His videos are great, clear, concise. I have always struggled with anything math related but he made this easy! I would highly recommend him to anyone needing to take a math course ( I took Stats 243). If I had to take more math courses I would absolutely take his course.
Professor Songer is one of the kindest and most supportive staff members at PCC. Since this was an online class, Professor Songer created custom class videos that demonstrated clear speaking, content, and provided subtitles. Extra credit is offered in this course. If you want to learn statistics, this class is the way to do it.
I don't know why this instructor got 3.7/5 on his rating. He deserves 6/5. Thomas is a kindest, generous and the most caring instructor that I have ever had. It doesn't matter what day and time you need him, he's always there to assist you. The workload is reasonable. Quizzes, midterm, finals are unlimited trials. Highly recommended A++
Thomas is super caring and supportive. His emails and communication are unmatched in how encouraging, thorough and helpful they are. He truly understands the difference between answering exam questions and actually understanding the material. Because of that, he leaves everything open until the end of the term and will immediately answer emails.
Thomas is great. Every time I emailed him, he responded immediately. He also keeps the cost down by supplying a book, tools for a calculator and I much appreciated that! He spends time creating videos for you to understand how to do the assignments and quizzes. Take him and thank me later. Best decision I made all term.
Thomas is the best. He created the videos which made the class super easy.
Professor Songer is truly a pleasure to have. For his statistic class, we had weekly homework and two quizzes that were super easy thanks to his instructional videos. There's a midterm and final all of which you will feel prepared for by the time you take them. He's super lenient with deadlines and truly cares about his students. Take his course!
Songer has been one of my favorite teachers so far. Stats is a hard class, and he will make sure he is available to you for whatever you need help with, and to succeed. His videos are wonderful and not too long. The quizzes and tests allow for unlimited tries, and are open until the end of the term. Wish I had him for 244!
He let me in his class after I emailed him as I surpassed the waitlist. He is a really caring professor and makes his own videos that make it much easier to understand the lessons. I would definitely take his classes again!
Too the online class, recommend to anyone. I am awful at math, and I passed this with a 98. Videos are super helpful, but you HAVE to watch them to pass. Tests aren't hard, and you can retake them so no pressure. Very helpful and communicative prof. 10/10 recommended.
Typically, online math classes have been more challenging for me rather than in-person. This class is an exception. Every unit has 1-2 videos that you have to watch and they cover every detail about the topic, there isn't much room for error. Thomas replies quickly and answers questions thoroughly. Hate studying? Suck at math? Take this class.
By far one of the nicest professors I have taken. He will do pretty much anything to make you succeed. The course I took was for stats 1 or math 243. His class was very well set up, there were no class times and you could retake anything as many times as you wanted (including the final). The material was very easy to learn and was very well taught.
Thomas was always accessible out of class and answered emails quickly. His online statistics class isn't hard as long as you don't slack off and you don't have to attend a single zoom. You can retake tests and quizzes as much as you need to and all lectures are informal videos that you can access at any time. 10/10 class would recommend to anyone.
Best math teacher I have ever had! Always ready to answer questions and help, you can retake assignments (including midterms and finals) unlimited times and you get to keep your best score. 1-2 videos per week around 19-38 minutes long and then three very small assignments you can retake! No due dates except the end of the term. Take his class!
Statistics online class with two mandatory tests in person, mid-exam and final. Each week consists of 2-4 video lectures and quizzes for each lecture. You get unlimited attempts on the quizzes. He is the best instructor I have ever had a PCC. He is so smart, kind, and willing to help in any way he can for you to succeed. Take his class!
Thomas is by far the best math teacher I've ever had. He is 100% there to help you succeed in his class. His lectures are so well done and easy to follow. You can retake the quizzes and homework as many times as you want, and he gives you the midterm/final beforehand so you are prepared. If you put in the work, you will easily get an A+.
Thomas was by far the best math teacher I've taken! He would break down the problems and explain how to do it! You should sign up for his class if you get the chance!
Best math class I have ever taken by a long shot. Super nice guy, very understanding if you miss anything. All quizzes and homework can be resubmitted until you get a perfect score. Midterm and final are open note and you can work with a partner, they are the only thing that can't be resubmitted. Explains the concepts well, easy to understand.
Most caring math teacher. Thomas wants all his students to succeed. Everything was very clear and straight forward.
Professor Songer is an amazing professor & the best math teacher I ever had. I could go on but there is a certain word limit on here. He posts clear videos each week to watch & homework is based on them so make sure to take good notes on the videos. Homework is completed during class time in groups, exams have very clear and helpful study guides.
By far the very best math learning experience. He has a completely different teaching style that adapts to each and everyone of his students. I have never done so great and actually enjoyed a math class like that before!
Awesome teacher! Super nice and helpful. He's really knowledgeable and responds quick to emails. There were many resources that he provided and class was relatively easy.
Thomas is such a caring, kind, and intelligent individual! At first glance, I was intimidated to take a stats class ( I needed to fill a prereq ) but he made this class accessible, fun, and laid back! Thomas is always there to help when needed and gives constant encouragement! Totally take his stats classes!
Took the summer in-person class, for 8 weeks. He let me do it online and extended every due date for me. Midterms were open group discussions. Class content was hard but he made it Very Easy. Excel heavy. You won't need a calculator. I recommend 2 screens. Best teacher ever!!!! 100% recommend. You will get an A!
I took professor Songer for my stats class. He was beyond willing to help with any of the content presented. The content can be difficult to comprehend, but he went well out of his way to make sure that the content was easy to understand. I would recommend him to anyone that has struggled in math before like I have. Amazing professor & great class!
This has been by far the best math class I have attend within college. Thomas is a very caring and very passionate instructor. His class dynamic is awesome we do homework in class and watch lectures at home. He also makes sure we have unlimited tries and helps us anytime we have a question. If you want to fall in love with STATS take this class!
Thomas is by far one of the most caring professors I've ever had. He's extremely accessible outside of class and is very flexible and accommodating. He teaches using a flipped-instruction method and records his own videos. All of his tests are open notes and he will help you during them. Only downside is he can go on long tangents sometimes.
Very nice and patient math instructor. If you HATE math and feel like math is not for you, he is the guy to go to! I failed this class under a horrible instructor with 3 hours worth of videos and with Thomas it was between 20-38 minute videos and i learned wayyyy more with Thomas. If you're like me def take a class with Thomas. He responds fast!
Took 243 my freshman year and was so nervous, amazing professor and made stats so much fun! I've never enjoyed taking math courses but loved this one
Professor Songer is a caring, flexible, and accommodating instructor. His flipped-instruction method with pre-recorded videos makes the content accessible. unstuck ai proved helpful for exam prep, alongside the open-note tests. Definitely recommend this class!
Thomas is an amazing instructor. He cares about all his students and makes sure no one is left behind. Thomas makes stats fun and is so passionate about the subject. All work is in class while the lectures are online. He lets you retake all assignments until you get 100%. He provides Mid and Final practice exams that are identical to the real exams
Favorite professor ever! I've taken two of his courses so far, and I can't recommend him enough. He's incredibly caring, kind, and understanding. He has a unique way of making math fun, and I would gladly take his courses a million times over!
Best math teacher ever. He wants you to learn not stress about math.
Great, caring instructor. He's very thorough with each new topic to make sure everyone understands. Gives you unlimited tries on every assignment except midterm and final. A lot of class time is dedicated to working with the people around you, and he makes a comfortable low-key environment to be able to learn with your classmates in.
Best instructor I have ever had. Actively tries to make things easy. Gives unlimited tries when he can. Allows you to use whatever software you need during tests. Makes sure everyone understands. Makes videos on material, so lectures are for questions/stories. Lectures can become boring but I can forgive him for that. Textbook was free and optional
Uses flipped learning model, extremely helpful, light homework, nice, open note tests. I thoroughly enjoyed taking his class. I would recommend taking any of his classes! He is great at utilizing the D2L shell, always reachable, and he designs his own videos so the videos will be exactly what you need to know every time.
Flipped model for learning. Open note tests. Group environment encouraged but not mandatory. Extremely tech savvy. Gives real help. Wants you to understand and succeed. Loves questions.
Just lovely. Such a wonderful person and a fantastic professor. Literally always available, so excited to help with anything and everything. He loves questions but he explains things so well that we rarely had any. His goal is for every student to get 100% on every assignment, to really understand the material, and to have a good experience.
