HE IS HORRIBLE! He made me cry when I asked for help during office hours. There is no structure or logic to his teaching. My class went from 20 students to 7 in the first week! AVOID THIS PROF!

The absolute worst teacher ever. I took his course in the spring and dropped it. I took it in the summer with a different teacher and did very well. It wasn't even the same class. He should be removed from the faculty at WSU.

Smart, but terrible teacher. He scoffs at questions and refuses to help. Seems to completely hate his job. I recieved an A in both calc I and III, but its going to be hard to simply pass this one with him. Very unclear, very hard, very unhelpful.

In the four years I've been at WSU, this is the worst professor I've ever had. Refused to give a makeup for an exam scheduled the day of my grandmother's funeral. He is 'teaching' stuff I will never use the rest of my life - do you really need to know the metabolic rate of a 450kg hibernating brown bear?

I would not take a class from him if I could avoid it.He could not care less about the students and his teaching. He is there for a couple of reasons, one to get a pay check doing his beloved math problems,and two, to show off."Look what I can do.I can do math!!I have no people skills, but, I know my math!" Very rude man. He does not teach, just talks and if you have a question he will look at you as if you have three heads. He should realize he is uneffective as a prof and quit. Do not take his classes. If you do you will regret it. He will make your life miserable. There are plenty of other math profs to take classes from. I give him an F.

I dont even know what to say. Here goes. He is very condescending, he has no people skills, he doesnt care about you; is only looking to show off his math skills in class. He doesnt go by a syllabus, he trys to disprove the book and teaches physics problems in a M&Modern world class to kids who barely know algebra. He already hates you, stay away.

I actually love math. I am willing to learn, and have enjoyed all of my classes...except this one. He'd spend a whole class working one problem, only to realize he'd done it wrong. This is a class for non-math majors, yet the work was way more advanced than any other. Thanks to the curve, I got an A, but I don't think many, (or any,) others did!

heres the deal with his class. he berates you and makes your time miserable. however, you get half credit on every problem/test just for attempting them, meaning if you try you can get no lower than a 50%. meaning you really only have to make up 10% to pass. which is why people only fail if they drop it. you just have to tough it out. good luck.

Only class I ever dropped. Made a 40 yr old woman cry, very condescending. Made up his own math "language" we had to know for tests. Gave us a study guide and then told us it was wrong AFTER we took the test. He just wants to show off how smart he is, and he laughs at questions. Needs fired! If you want to fail, sign up. Wow, what the point if the class average is an 57%?(with no curve) Like everyone else says hes a terrible teacher and doesn't deserve to even be on the staff. If you accidently take him, try and get lucky on the final and maybe you'll pass.

A horrible teacher. Uses theories and concepts that are way too complicated for use in Calculus II. Favors long, complicated methods to solving over short, simple explanations. He explains very simple concepts so badly that you come out of his explanation more confused than before he started.

Horrible teacher, the guy is brillant, but a real jerk and is not helpful at all. Do not take him if possible, but you do, just read the book and teach yourself do not listen to him, and the math help room in Rike is a life safer too.

I've had profs at WSU that ratemyprofessors said were bad and got A's in their calc classes, but this guy is the real deal. Assigns truckloads of homework w/o explaining how to do it. His syllabus says: "this will NOT mean watching a teacher do 'examples' while hoping to replicate them on a test." Buy a book and teach yourself, it's cheaper.

Worthless. First homework assignment was to make a contour map of THE ENTIRE WSU CAMPUS. This was only loosely related to the calculus we were doing - worst busywork I've ever been assigned. Dropped the class, took it the next quarter with somebody else and got an A. AVOID THIS MAN AT ALL COSTS.

Ok...I have been in his class for 3 days and already don't like him. His lectures (if you want to call them that) have nothing to do with the sections. He is good at math, but cannot teach. He has already called some of the students sensitive because they spoke up about him being wrong. Stay away from him.

First day he said to do every hw problem the course covers and to do every lab problem and to get other calculus books to get more problems to practice with if you want to do alright. No exam schedule was given, but he'd tell you the week of the exam when it would be. Rambles and writes about the earth rotation to solve an integral like x^2.

Took him for MTH 127. I got an A, but I would never, EVER take him again. I copied everything he wrote on the board and taught myself at home. He is incomprehensible and condescending to the point of cruelty. If you see he is teaching your course, drop it. You're better off skipping a quarter than suffering through him.

Avoid if possible. Makes a difficult subject even more difficult. Unless you're a math major who lives for infinite series and obscure mathematical functions this guy is terrible. Sure if you spend 20 hours a week and pay attention you could get an A, but you'll have a much better understanding of the material if you wait for another professor.

He makes you feel stupid, doesn't answer your questions, doesn't understand any questions asked, teaches us the geometric way then yells at us because we aren't doing the algebra right, and confuses everyone in my class. He is by far the worst teacher I have had my college career. I urge you to NOT take ANY of his classes. He doesn't seem to know how to teach clearly, he is insulting (although he doesn't seem to understand why), he doesn't answer questions clearly at all, he can't seem to figure out why most of the students don't understand what he's talking about.

The worst teacher I have ever had. I am a math major, and I am failing his class. He yells at or belittles people who asks questions, and doesnt teach from the book AT ALL. The questions on his tests have nothing to do with homework or quizes. DO NOT TAKE HIM AS A MATH TEACHER UNLESS YOU WANT TO FAIL!!!

I took him my freshman year because my counselor put me in his class. I failed miserably and I am good at math. I took it the next quarter with another teacher and got an A! This professor is by far the worst professor I have ever had. He didn't clearly cover information from the text and when he did work out problems they would either be half way finished or incorrect. Don't ever take this professor, even if it means graduating late.

I have never in my life received less than a B+ in a math class, I took his class and got a D.... he is rude and doesn't care about your questions. He is the worst trig teacher here by far.

This guy knows and understands what he teaches. But has extreme difficulties communicating between whats going on in his brain to verbalization. Bring a dictionary too. He likes to flaunt his knowledge by using big words. Oh, and make sure you know everything about previous classes. He assumes you have retained all info leading to calculus.

He's very confusing. He explains simple calc topics in complex ways. He gets mad and yells at students for asking simple questions. He arrives late and leaves. You can't find him to ask questions. We spend most of class watching him figure out simple mistakes he makes in example problems, like he even confuses himself. Stay away from this teacher.

I took calc1,2&3 and got decent grades on them but after going to his lectures, I was confused even more. He does not cover all of materials in the syllabus, and answered student's question with 'I don't know".

I showed up to his class every time and am great at math; however, out of my 3 years in college, HE IS THE WORST TEACHER I'VE HAD SO FAR. I took Dr. Svobodny's Calculus 4 a while back and I have to agree with most people's comments here: he is definitely not a good teacher. I wouldn't say he's the worst but very close to being one. Funny story, one day he was trying to explain the Mobius strip, he just ripped his belt right off in class to demonstrate.

He teaches the material in a Theoretical Format. He jumps around the book and doesn't state what section he is on. Gets frustrated when students don't comprehend his lectures. Expects students to spend at least 10 hours a week working problems out of the book but tests are based on his lectures not the book. Avoid him!!! A curve is why I did well.

WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER TAKEN. He spends the class covering topics that are completely irrelevant to the class. Skips around material about DiffEqu , Physics and Chemistry. The class includes graduate students and he grades the undergrads based on the same material. Don't take class if you don't have to. He is the only prof who teachers it.

This is the worst teacher I have ever had and will ever have. All of the comments posted here are absolutely true. Do not take a class taught by him unless you absolutely have to. He is extremely knowledgeable about all sciences and math, and due to this he can't explain or answer "simple" questions and assumes you know all the sciences.

WORST PROFESSOR EVER! I love math and took his trig class as a freshman and was totally lost the whole time. Only way I managed to keep a B was he heavily curved the grade(because he knows everyone would fail otherwise) and I took a pre-calc class in high school that helped. He knows his stuff but just can't communicate it to the class.

Worst Professor I have ever had. Took him for trig Freshman year, and it was crazy hard (and I aced calc in high school..) Gave random quizzes over untaught material, exams were ridiculous, and he made you feel stupid for asking any questions. "Taught" about rabbits and aliens one time. Was all about proofs and confusing theory. Avoid at any cost.

this professor shouldn't be allowed to teach at all. You'll set there for few hours weekly while he misses with your head with his nonsense. unfortunately wright state is using this person to teach their students, and you won't know it's him until the the first day of class (they never write his name when you register for the class).

STAY AWAY!! Lectures are long, unstructured, theory based, with no examples. Exams are brutal - he includes topics he doesn't teach or material he skipped or spent very little time on. Refuses to answer any questions regarding his exams. Any questions or concerns are met with belittlement and mocking. Aren't a math major? He will hate you more.

He is a man of great knowledge. A man of many topics, logical understanding, and profound verse in math. It is his own hubris that he lacks the vocabulary to express his knowledge. He get's lost in his ideas, he doesn't tell you what you need to know, He expects you to absorb and extrapolate ideas as he speaks, and he lacks modern quirks. Stay away

this is the worst math class ive ever taken. reminds me of my high school years where i lost my love of math due to incompetent instructors like him. he is very lecture heavy but hes all over the place and the entire time i cannot follow. youre basically teaching yourself because all he does is explain the proofs of the equations.

Dude is a joke, makes Wright State look like one too. Literally ran around the room in circles to every whiteboard just putting down wrong algebra for questions and proofs with no explanation other than his work. If you see a math course with a TBA, definitely consider another. You'll probably pass since he curves so much, but you won't learn.

Dr. Svobody is by far the worst prof I have ever had at Wright State. He makes class time very frustrating. Literally the only reason I got a B was because we went remote and didn't have to listen to him. He doesn't care about his students, the dude literally left us on read for like 3 or 4 weeks right in the middle of the semester. No guidance.
