HE IS BRITISH!!! But really, a great professor. He cares about his students and he makes his lectures fun and easy to understand. He has made me consider taking Astronomy as my major. Definitely recommend his class.

He speaks a little fast sometimes, but that is literally the only bad thing about the class. Attendance is mandatory but he offers a few ways to make up points with extra credit. If you show up to class tests area breeze considering the material is based off of his slides. all around good teacher

I really enjoyed this class with this professor. He is really interested in what he teaches. The class is moderately easy if you attend. Overall I would recommend this class to anyone who is interested. Super interesting and attention grabbing. I am very glad I took the class with Targett over Farris. Plus he has a kick ass British accent!

I really enjoyed this class. He made astronomy fun and exciting, almost making me want to switch majors! However the major flaw was that he did almost all his grading once the class had ended and does not post grades to any assignments. I thought I had been doing exceptionally well in the course until I received my final grades.

This class was pretty easy because it was mostly based on powerpoints. I read the book as well, but he focused more out of his own lectures on the tests and final. The online homework was fairly simple as well.

Really was not interested in ASTRO but he was an awesome teacher. Go to class, TAKE GOOD NOTES and you will do fine! He is extremely helpful. I HIGHLY reccommend him.

Dr. Targett is super helpful and knows exactly what he is doing. He is hands off 99% of the time. As long as you try and help your lab partner do the work, he won't dock any points. He's super nice and cool, his British accent is pretty awesome too.! Take this lab with him!

This dude is the absolute best. He is the most helpful teacher I have ever had. He is always helping, making jokes, and having a good time. HE is now my favorite teacher ever. TAKE ANY CLASS WITH HIM

Professor Targett is British so theres a plus. His teaching style is off of his power points and he does not upload them so go to class. Homework all online drops your lowest scores. No study guides except for accumulative final. Really interesting take him!

Most of the stuff on the tests are from power points. There's online homework's which are really simple too. Overall it's super easy if you attend class because he's so eager to teach and help you. Would definitely recommend his class.

Dr. Tom Targett, being a relatively new instructor to SSU, has immediately fit right in with a style and nuance that made him "a hit" with his students from the first day of class. Dr. Targett has a great sense of humor, searingly engages you in lecture, and is helpful to physics majors and those without strong science background equally. A+ instr.

Take a class with him if you ever have the chance! One of the best professors at SSU. Extremely approachable if you need clarity with anything or if you just want to review your previous exam. Plus, his accent is very cool :)!

A really good class, you need to go to every lecture though, the test are from the power points and if you don't pay attention all the time you won't do well. Used the book for homework.

Professor Targett was awesome! He is very clear in his lectures and makes sure students ask questions to ensure that the material is understood. He is funny, always there to answer questions and provide help!! As long as you go to class his tests are ALL from lecture. His homework is online and you DO NO NEED THE BOOK, just buy the code.

Hands down my favorite GE class I have taken. He is brilliant, funny and helpful. The lectures are very interesting and well-done. I had little problem understanding the content of the class due to the way he teaches so well. And that's saying something for me, considering my major has nothing to do with the sciences. Do not take ASTR wo Targett!

Such a noob and his British accent is awesome. He talks about Star Wars and "things to watch to become a better human being". Prepare for gifs and ridiculously cool pictures of awesome space crap. He will blow your mind with his lectures, if you actually show up and really pay attention.

Targett is such a great teacher. If you care about your grade then he is there to help you succeed. I would not miss class because each one is full of info that will be on the exam. There are 3 exams and the final. He always answers emails and his office phone. Like I said, if you care then he cares.

Best prof I've had so far. Funny & knowledgable. Has sign in sheet for participation pts. Also has observation night, had I gone to it I would've gotten an A as I was 5 pts shy. If you don't pay attention in class it's easy to study with the textbook. He tells you everything that's going to be on the midterm so it's all on you if u don't get an A

T Targett is my homie, not only is he a total nerd, but he truly wants to make sure his students understand the content of what he is teaching. He offers a plethora of extra credit (which I failed to complete because it's a separate lecture series), he takes off your lowest test & homework score, & he doesn't take attendance all the time.

Targett knows his stuff and is a fun professor. As long as you turn up to class and pay attention you will do fine.

I love this class! it was my favorite class of the day. Prof. Targett is ludicrously funny haha. I like his accent and you can really tell that he loves teaching. He answered my emails very quickly and I learned so much in that class. The tests are pretty easy and based on the notes. Make sure to do well in the homework quizzes. Take him!

Professor Targett is great! He's hilarious, well informed on the subject and loves to answer questions. I would take his class again if I could. Attendence sheets go around time to time so make sure you're at class to get your name on it. There is homework every other week online, various extra credit assignments, three exams and then the final.

Professor Targett is such a great teacher all around. He is witty, passionate and relates to his students extremely well. I always looked forward to going to his class. Tests are based upon his lectures so if you attend class, you'll know exactly what will be on the test. Not too difficult, would most definitely recommend, 10/10.

I really enjoyed his class! It isn't super difficult if you attend class and take notes. He does take attendance once a week so make sure you show up! Also, he drops your lowest test and homework grade which is pretty cool! I would definitely recommend.

Professor Targett is amazing! He is very good at what he does and loves to interact with students. Your grade is only made up of the labs you complete in class and participation, so attendance is mandatory!! He definitely challenges you to think critically when completing the labs, but he is super helpful and always has a smile on his face!

Mr Targett is a cool guy(& hes british). This class is pretty easy as long as you go to class, do the hw, study a little,& take the exams. The hw can be tricky, but the tests are pretty straightforward. He gives a lot of opportunities to raise your grade like attendance(10% boost if you go), dropping majority missed test q's, &he erases 1 hw&1 test

Professor Targett is a really cool guy. He made me want to minor in astronomy while taking A100. Takes time to talk to answer students questions, and sometimes will make you ask him questions before moving on and makes sure you understand his lectures. 10/10 would definitely recommend.

I took this class to get the WIC credit, paired with always loving Astronomy it seemed like an obvious choice. Please realize YOU WILL BE WRITING A LOT OF PAPERS, and it is science writing which is more difficult for me (a human development major). The class was very informative, the writing was difficult but manageable and the prof is very funny!

Targett is an AMAZING professor. Hands down the best Ive ever had at Sonoma. Take his classes for easy credit, fair grading and a class that you actually want to go to. Its really interesting and he always wants to make sure his students understand the material.

Great professor even for non-majors. Drops your lowest homework and quiz. Study for quiz #2 it's the hardest for sure. Makes concepts easy to grasp and has good lectures.

He offers a lot of extra credit if you are willing to put in the work. I bought a book for this semester, but it was not necessary. He cares about his students and does everything he cant to help them do well in the class. He gives good tips and demonstrations in class so showing up helps!

I love the Cosmology class so far! The math can be a bit difficult at times, but he has office hours to help with that. The topics in class are extremely interesting, and I find that it's one of the few classes that I don't feel like falling asleep in! AND it's a morning class, so that really goes to show. Take Targett!

He is a really good professor! If you take Astro100 I would definitely suggest him! He is passionate about astronomy and loves what he does! Take good notes in his class and study those and you'll be fine for the 4 exams (including final). I didn't try but if you put the work in, you'll be fine.

The test in Targett's class are really difficult without studying. The information is not memorization based, its all concepts. Its a difficult class for non-science brains but very interesting. My favourite GE this semester. Targett is a bit intimidating because of his strong character, but if you're polite and don't interrupt you're good.

He overall is a great professor, he truly cares about students getting an A in his class. Even if you fail all the exams, you can get it all back up by doing all the extra credit and showing up to all of his lectures. He is polite, knows the topic perfectly. He also drops the lowest homework. Great professor, take this class!

Funny prof, treats students with respect. The material itself can be a bit dense for non astronomy majors so you have to work hard but overall a good class.

Professor Targett is one of the best professors that I've ever had. He makes an exceptional effort to involve students despite being in a large lecture hall and makes potentially challenging physics and astronomy concepts easy to understand. I absolutely loved his class and I couldn't ask for a better introduction to astronomy.

A fun prof who wants to help you learn, he can be a little inflexible on deadline and tests, but if you show up to lecture and do the homework you will be fine.

I love Dr. Targett! At first he can seem mean but once you get to know him he is so kind and caring and pushes you just enough for you to succeed. Any chance you have to take a class with him, do it! If you need help, he is more than willing to help you during office hours.

He is funny and smart, but being online doesn't show the full extent of what he's really like as a professor (sadly). His class was hard for me because I'm used to memorizing. He challenges students to be able to understand a concept and be able to apply them in problems. This class was a wake up call to shift gears with the way I learn from now on

He's a good and funny professor, but he takes forever to turn in grades/give feedback. And kinda rude, he cuts people off a lot and going to office hours it always feels like he's trying to get rid of you.

Incredible dude! He's really funny and his lectures are very interesting. He doesn't require a textbook but the homework for the class is online which you do need to purchase. Homework is due every 2 weeks and there are 3 tests throughout the semester plus the final at the end. Syllabus is clear and explains everything. Highly recommend this class!

Being in Targett's class was like being at a stand up show. He was super witty and quick to answer student questions thoroughly and honestly. Closed note tests, lots of memorization, but interesting material.

Funny professor, overall good class. Hmwk: incredibly easy. Exams: I didn't study & got over 100% on each, but only bc I knew a lot abt Astronomy going in. I could tell for most people the tests were hard & contained stuff we didn't really go over in class. He also often misinterprets questions, & there's an annoying/unclear essay at end of smstr.

Lecture got kind of boring and hard to pay attention to. No electronics at all are allowed, paper and pencil only. 3 big test pretty hard, always got a C but if you do all the homework which is every other week and easy you can for sure pass with a B. Teacher is funny and does make things fun and interesting sometimes.

I love Professor Targett. If you go to every lecture and are attentive/take notes you will do great! He is funny and his lectures are engaging yet packed full of information. No technology allowed but this helps a lot with attention/learning. I'd recommend this class as long as you actually want to learn.

He chill af I failed this semester since I never had time to study cause I simply put too much on my schedule but the coursework is not easy but, not hard, its all just up to you depending on if you put in the hours to study or not. should be a breeze if you study and do the homework on time since the homework is a great source for study.

Targett is a great professor! It is very important to attend the lectures but they're each an hour so its not too bad. I would recommend studying for the tests but he curves grades which is nice. He's a fun silly guy.

litteraly it's professor targett so great and was a nice online class. Doesnt reply to emails that often which kinda annoys me but still got a B so I will take that happily.

Targett makes the subject a lot more fun than it would otherwise be. You really do need to show up to class as the lecture notes are missing some important information. As long as you review before an exam you should be fine.The only annoying thing is he will wait until somebody asks a question before moving on from certain slides. Very funny!

Grade is based off of 3 exams, final exam, and online homework. There are some small extra credit options available (between 6-9pts) and he is a good professor. He does not update the grade in canvas and it was kind of in the air what my end grade would be. Overall, would recommend if you can dedicate the time to study and memorize the material.

His teaching style leaves the classes he lectures to be hard but fair. They are indeed difficult topics, and this class is one of the few that you can not learn on your own, so attending class is a must to pass and move forward. But many who may leave a bad review believed it would be easy like the former calc 1 class they took. Great guy.

Good class that teaches you how to code. Anyone can do this class, even if they haven't coded before, just don't expect to be spoon fed like a baby, you need to actually figure things out.

Actually looked forward to being in this class each week. Tests can be hard, but revise and you will be fine. Professor is funny and care about you understanding the ideas.
