He offers so much extra credit and has review sessions three times a week. There is no way you could fail this class if you show up for the review sessions and do all the extra credit. Great teacher.

He is a HOTTTIE! His tests are very hard though. His lectures suck because he talks so fast, its hard to get anything down that makes sense for re-reading later! But hes a nice guy and hot!

He loves to teach, he will go out of his way to help a student that needs help understanding the material, he's approachable and will answer all ?'s tests are kind of hard But its all worth going to class to see him in leather pants, and cowboy boots.

Friendly, funny and intelligent. He makes the lectures interesting and he is actually friendly outside of lecture. He went out of his way to get me resources on evolution when I asked him some questions about outside reading once. Easy to pass too.

lectures can be a bit boring sometimes, but he likes to make jokes to liven things up. when extra credit is given do it because tests can be hard sometimes and you'll need it.

Vogel is a complete nut. I have no real problems with him but he always manages to (for at least one test) put 5+ q's about**** he never even briefly mentioned. Good guy overall. I thought the class was easy, but bio is really easy to me, so i'm biased.

he's a really awesome teacher. works very hard to make sure students understand the materials...and if you have problems with ANYTHING he's very flexible. attend the review sessions, and he basically gives away test info...they are so helpful. id definately take him again.

He is the nicest teacher. If you ever need help, he is really easy to approach. Really take advantage of the extra credit, it helps your grade out so much.

Hilarious and very interesting. Gave our class a chance for 45 pts. extra grade. He gives like 5 100 pt. tests. So see how nice the EC is! Go to class a couple times a week and print the notes off the internet and you're set. Easy A/B.

He is a cool guy. He's very helpful when you don't understand the material. His lectures aren't that bad either, he tells jokes to make them more interesting. LOTS of extra credit!!!!

Imagine across between a - Rock Star - Astronaut -Biker - Cowboy and Mr. Wizard. Now you have an idea of what your Biological experience with Dr. Vogel will be like! It's a wild ride and he will keep you guessing all semester long.

Mr. Vogel is an awesome teacher. He's powerpoint notes (which u can print out as well) are so detail that there's no way you can't get an A in the class. Gives out lots of extra credit and he's funny.

This was an awesome class, i only went the first two months, so i did not go for the last two months(too lazy), still got an a, and still got exempt from the final! 1 test dropped, 1 test with notes, and one test with freinds or notes! definitely take! easy, interesting, and hes a fun guy!

What a fantastic teacher. I hated biology. He made it easier for me to understand. Outstanding teacher all around. His tests are challenging if you don't attend class. Other then that he gives you many extra credit opportunites

He makes class very interesting. All of the notes are online, and the tests are based completely off of them, so you don't even have to go to class! Plus, he gives a lot of extra credit, so it's easy to get a good grade.

One of the best professors here at Western. His class isn't the easiest but it's not hard either. He really cars about his students and is always helpful he even holds study sessions weekely you can always go to him if you need help. Great teacher!!!!!

All his notes you can print off line,you do not need the book. He offers review sections if you need then.Always offers about 15 points of extra credit. I took both Bio 100 and 101 and got an A in both. He is amazing and i would take him again if i could. You do not have to go to class but you can.

If you are looking for a professor that makes you want to come to class then this is your man. He recognizes and acknowledges effort. There is no reason why anyone should ever fail his class. He is the BEST OF THE BEST! Plus his classes are so much fun. Gives you a reason to wake up in the morning!

He trys to make the class enjoyable by cracking jokes and using relevant examples to help you understand. Definitely attend the reviews and study for the tests. He makes things so much clearer in review so make sure you go. I recommend him very highly. I don't like biology but I actually don't mind this class.

This prof. was the best of the BEST!!!!!!! Its almost imposible to not pass this class. For the final essay, as long as you actually do it he will always give you an A. He explains everything sooo well and gives great examples. If your lucky enough to get him, thank your lucky stars cuz eveyone wants to take his class.

This guy rocks. I definently recommend that you go the reviews that he has. He gives out answers to test in reviews and he teaches the material a little more in depth than from the lecture. Gives out a lot of extra credit as well to help your grade. Take this guy if you get the chance.

This class is kinda difficult but he gives extra credit and allows you to make things up. He's also pretty funny and keeps you interested in the lecture!

Mr. Vogel is one of the few teachers in the biology department. Vogel is personable and understanding of the students concerns. Tests are reasonable and he helps you with a study guide. Though Vogel isn't a "Doctor" he is undoubtedly better than all the "Ph.Ds" there. If you have a choice take VOGEL =)

He's awesome, we took a field trip and the ride down to the river with Vogel was more fun than any other class/field trip I've ever had. He's even flexible with lab attendance. I loved the class, and want to take it again

An awsome teacher who gives you powerpoint notes that you go over in class. No attendance. He gives much extra credit opportunities. If you have an A at the end dont have to take final. Lets you use notes on one of the four exams. He really makes things seem much easier by the way he teaches. Definatley recomend.

LOVE this man! Great sense of humor, and is able to relate everything to the topic. Very clear in what he wants. Offers all kinds of extra credit - donate blood and you're golden. Notes are online, so just study those for the tests. Also, get an A average by the last test and you don't have to take the final. Wonderful man!

Great class and great teacher! Notes are online but more notes are giving in lecture. Tests are online and are based off the notes he gives you. Tests are 80% print off notes and 20% lecture. So it is to your benifit to go to class. Always mad the class fun and exciting to listen to. A definet recommend.

never went to class, all tests online a lot of people dont realize u can have multiple browsers open so that you can look up the answers while your taking the test. the lab is the only pain in the ass but its all TA's he doesnt teach it. if you do go to class he goes over everything and is very knowledgable he will answer any questions. take him :)

Mr.V is an amazing professor. He doesn't take attendance, tests are online, and notes are online. If you go to class you will not be dissapointed because he is very interesting to talk to...Def. take Mr.Vogel if you have to take a Biology class!

Pretty easy guy. Went to class maybe 5 times the entire semester. Everything is online, tests, notes, everything you need. You take the tests online, with notes, and however you want, but theres a time limit. Definitely recommend.

Great teacher. He doesn't require attendance, but it very helpful to go. He is very entertaining, and some of the metaphors he uses are very funny. I did very well in the class and rarely went, but if you don't go you should read the text book; the tests can be hard. He also offers extra credit. Amazing teacher.

Tom is the best teacher!! Makes class fun and you actually want to go to class, test are hard but go to class, take notes and read a bit and you will pass, i would take this class over again just to laugh more, hes awesome!

He is a really funny guy and actually makes biology kind of fun. I was dreading taking biology but I actually enjoyed going. The tests are a little hard, but there is extra credit.

Everything is online, the notes,extra links, test, lab work, everything. You dont need to go to class its no attendance policy. I only went twice and I got a B. You can take your test and do the lab work in groups with your notes and the book. The book is not worth buying though. I

Easy lectures. will give you powerpoint notes if you ask. No attendance policy but there are clicker quiz questions everyday that are 15% of your grade. Has the funniest stories and is a good teacher. all tests are online and dont always go along with notes. just ask a friend from another class to give you their outline and you'll get an A on tests

This guy is the best! If you can take him for you FYE class. We would go on awesome field trips and we are able to talk to him more and he is so nice and interesting. We all formed a bond with him and i will still talk to him next semister. TAKE HIM FOR UR FYE its easier than lecture!

He is a nice guy but his exams are hard as hell. They're all online and every notes are online. Attendence isn't mandatory which is awesome. I haven't gone since the first week of school. The only problem is his EXAMS! You'll need to do it with a group or you WILL FAIL. No way can you do it by yourself. They're hard and is time consuming.

He is extremely nice and funny! Makes the subject interesting. Tests are really hard but online, very understanding. Attendance wasn't mandatory although it helps if you attend. It's a hard subject but do take him if you have to take Bio!

Each class went by fast (for it to be an 8:00am class) Professor Vogel is not boring at all, he relates almost everything to a real life story. The exams however are extremly HARD, but he allows you take it twice which is a big help. He is more helpful and will explain things better when you visit during his office hours.

Vogel is great! If you HATE BIO, TAKE HIM! I haven't attended class all semester and look to be ending the year with a C+ or B-. All work is done online and while they aren't easy tests, they're doable. Great teacher, great stories, loved the class!

I have him now and he is awesome! Every test is online. Open book,note,internet,friends,etc. He puts the tests up for a week and you can retake them 2 more times and average out your grade. He makes his own book with every powerpoint slide so you only have to write what he says. hes very funny. He gives extra credit and attendance isnt mandatory.

As everyone says, very easy guy. All the exams are online, open book. Dont buy the texbook just buy the other book where you take notes thats the only thing u will need. Attendance not mandatory, but helps if u dont know bio. Also he draws names at the end for E.C if you show up for class and write down ur name at random times he requests it

I took him for my FYE class and its seriously the easiest class i have this year. all the notes are online, the tests are online, the only time attendance is mandatory is on lab days because you get points for being there and you have easy pop quizzes every lab day. hes funny and entertaining as a professor. take his class!!!! seriously

Difficult class, but awesome teacher. If you're going to take it, make sure you get him. He tells interesting stories and has a way of teaching that makes the material seem interesting as well. Six tests online throughout the semester plus the final, pretty difficult, but most is straight off the notes. Go to class and you'll be fine

He is seriously the best. I hate science (A LOT) and I look forward to going to this class all the time and I hate leaving. He actually teaches and tells you funny stories to go along with what he's teaching. And you can buy a book of his powerpoint slides so you can actually pay attention to his lecture. TAKE HIM you won't regret it.(:

Vogel is an amazing teacher! No one wants to wake up for an 8 a.m. biology class three days a week, and he understands that. He relates the material well to the students and is very clear. The book of his notes is super helpful if you miss a day. If you have to take biology, I fully suggest you take Vogel.

Professor Vogel was one of the most flexible teachers I had this year. Even if you had to miss a few classes, you could always catch up in the powerpoint book. The online tests were super easy and he allowed everyone to work in groups. He helps boost grades when needed and is very understanding of every situation.

I enjoyed Vogel's classes a lot. The labs are no fun but if you get a bad grade there, he will help you work it out. The tests are super easy and all multiple choice, open book, online.

He lectures for an hour. There are 6 test for the semester. I bought the slide book, which has all his slides in it and really helps on the tests - you can buy a used one with someone's notes to help. I barely used the other textbook.

His class is pretty good. This guy knows his stuff and if you need help, reach out to him and he's glad to help. Likes to incorporate funny stories to keep the class interested.

Good 'Ole Thomas Vogel.... He is an outstanding professor. My major is Exercise Science and I was required to take the class. The first day, I knew that I would love the guy. Very helpful and clear in his lectures. He knows the material and he also teaches you life lessons. By far the best professor that I have had during my first semester!

Vogel is a great professor. The lectures are long and attendance is not mandatory but you will want to go because he is funny. Also he does this thing were he gives random extra credit on random days so you are gonna want to be there. Lab attendance is mandatory.

Professor Vogel is hilarious. He reminds me of the actor who plays the Twinkie lover in the movie zombieland. He is very passionate about what he teaches. Attendance to lectures is not mandatory but I suggest you go because he does this thing where he takes random attendance.

All classwork is completion grades and he is very lenient about late assignments. As long as you turn your work in you will receive points.

Good teacher, not much work

Great teacher! Tests are a bit difficult if you take them by yourself but not impossible, just go over your notes every day. A smart move would be to form a study group if you're aiming for an A in this class. Lab is a piece of cake so if you're struggling a bit in this class, the cumulative grade at the end of the semester shouldn't be too bad.

Dr. Vogal is a very funny guy. All his classes will always go the full 50 minutes but attendance is not required. I do advice you go though because the only grades are test and lab. His test are somewhat difficult because there online and he knows you'll work in groups and look up answers. Just email him if you need to meet very flexible.

Great teacher, I went to the actual lecture one time and passed with an A. As long as you attend the lab you are sure to pass. I used the app Socratic to pass each test. All the tests are online and he lets you take a week to do them.

I'm a minority and moving to Macomb to attend WIU was a big step for me. Dr. Vogel was one of the few professors that truly cares about his students and take pride in what he does. His lectures were very organized and easy to understand. Lab was done in groups and they were enjoyable. Dr. Vogel rocks!
