Great sense of hummor, good professor as well as advisor. Just show up to class every day and take good notes, you are sure to do well. Besides he lets you make up every test at the end of the semester. Everything is generally in his notes.
I loved Dr. Westcott in General Psy. and took him when he teached Into. to Counseling just to have him as a professor again. He is extremely funny and keeps you paying attention in class. He brings in his own stories to class to give them a personal touch.

Good teacher, and amazingly good with a class of 200+ , keeping them interested. He did get a little crude with his humor at times though. However, maybe he should stay in the classroom. He was a TERRIBLE advisor for the honors students, and seemed especially biased against girls.
Took him in Fall 2004 for Intro to counseling. He's a very funny teacher. Relaxed class. One paper (it's not major) and 3 exams. You would want to go to his class b/c tests are from notes but his class is interesting. He makes it fun with funny stories. Very smart guy, good teacher over all.

class was very easy, you could drop the last exam if you had an A average already, said the last one couldn't hurt you, only help. very structured lecture/notes, easy to understand. takes roll, though.
Pretty good class... I would rate his subject competency as "medium". The tests are rather difficult, but his testing policy is unique and helpful; you can make up any exam(s) as the "final", or just skip the final if you do well on all the tests. Uses a lot of humor; extra credit for experiments.
His psychology class was a blast. BUT... As an advisor he is horrible!!

He is a great professor. He makes the class very interesting. And he is very funny and trys to involve everyone!!!
I love this class. Dr. Wescott's funny and can keep the class going.
I had him for general psych and intro to counseling. He is a great teacher. Class was never boring and it was easy to pass if you study your notes a little.
His class is fun and very interesting, but his tests are very hard. You have to study a lot for his tests .
he is SO funny! he's the one teacher i have that doesn't take attendance, and his class is the one i never ever want to miss!
Great teacher! Tests are straight from notes and end of chapter review questions. Study and you'll definitely get an A! Funny... will sometimes cancel class due to business trips and such and keeps the class interesting. Funny Psyc stories about patients and such... good time!
Funny, very harrison fordish
He is the man. His class is very fun and interesting!
This is the easiest class that I have ever taken! He makes it interesting by telling funny stories and he gives tons of extra credit. His tests are so easy; just look over the notes once and you will get an A.
easy class. just make sure you get the notes and study the test questions in the book. he is really funny, often cancels class or lets you out early, and is very interesting
Very funny professor, keeps things interesting. Just take the notes during class & study the questions out of the book bc 1/4 of the test questions are the EXACT ones out of the book. he gives open note quizzes in class....so take good notes. :D
He's a great teacher. Class is easy. Just take notes and study before the test. His class opened me up to be a psychology major. He is really funny. Huge class.
He's funny.
hes the best. he teaches in a interesting way. you wont fall asleep. he loves to pick on people at random to explain whats hes talking about. i would take him again
An amazing instructor. If you can, take him for General Psych! He's wonderful, sarcastic, funny, and won't take crap from students. There isn't much more I could say to praise him.
*Make sure you go to class!* You wont get a good grade if you dont. Hes nice & his lectures are very interesting and entertaining. Make sure you take good notes & are there for extra credit opprtns. Make sure you study the book Q&As like he says. Dont trust someone else to take notes for you. GO TO CLASS EVERYDAY & you'll get a good grade.
He makes class interesting and his lectures are really good. The tests are easy if you read the book and take notes in class.
He is very funny and makes the subject interesting. Test for me is not very easy, but long as you take notes and read you'll be find.
Lectures are extremely interesting! The only assignments are exams. :( Take notes, pay attention, and study!
Really amazing teacher. You have to go to class, not because he takes roll (200+ students), but because he goes over a lot of material that's not really in the textbook. He gives extra-credit opportunities, and a few questions on the tests are straight from the book. Take good notes, go to class, and you'll do fine.
Dr. Westcott is pretty good, and funny and his lectures are really interesting. The class was huge to things were difficult to keep track of at times, so don't skip class. His tests were pretty hard multiple choice, studying didnt help me much. lotsa extra credit though.
i thought i would do well, but i didnt. i got a C,D,D on all three tests. The only reason i got a B in his class was because of all the xtra credit he offered. The Xtra credit may not be offered in the next semesters to come. However, I did learn A LOT and i dont regret takin the class
Dr. Westcott is an amazing professor! The subject material is interesting, he makes jokes, and he offers extra credit. The only reason I made a B was because I missed a few attendance quizzes. Definitely buy the book, at least 20 points of your exams are straight from the book.
He was a fasinating professor. He kept the lectures really entertaining! class is mandatory because he gives out 10 unannounced attendance quizes. missing one or two could mean the difference b/w and A and a B. He involves some of his own personal life experiances which make the class even better. I wouldnt miss out on takin this psychology class!!
Fun class. Read everything and pay attention and you will do fine. I have such crush on him.
As funny as George Lopez but way hotter! Can a student ask a professor out?
Excellent, humorous, nice teacher. Attend his lectures, take notes, do quizzes. A.
Best teacher I have had in many years. His stories actually relate to his lessons and he's extremely humorous. If there is a 20 year old girl out there like him, I want to know. He kept my interest. The one day I missed his class, I regretted because it's just so interesting. Absolutely wonderful teacher. I'll miss him.
Wonderful teacher. I wish I could have him as one again. He makes the lessons interesting and I never want to leave the classroom. I always look forward to this class and dread having to leave it. His tests are rather difficult. You need to study your notes and textpool questions. Worth every penny and second.
He's awesome; He makes learning about a boring subject, in my opinion fun!
Amazing professor. He keeps the class fun and easy. Take good notes, study, and you will do just fine.
Dr.Westcott is a great teacher! Very interesting class... Made me really enjoy psychology.
Everything is from lectures. Record his lectures, take good notes and don't miss class. There is 10 attendance quizzes. Extra Credit is a life saver, take advantage of it, its easy. He tells you what is on the test, but be wary when grad students teach a class. If they do make sure they cover everything that is on the test.

Seriously most amazing professor I've ever had, absolutely take his class if you can get in!
Simply BEST PROFESSOR EVEERR!! If you can get in his class you are considered the luckiest person alive! I love him and his teaching techniques!
Dr. Wescott is amazing. He's very interesting and tells funny stories. His tests come from the pool questions which you have to look up in the textbook and from notes. As long as you study your notes and the pool questions you should make an A on the tests. There are like 8 attendeance quizzes at random and he offers extra credit!
He is a great teacher. He explains everything very well. If you pay attention in class, read the text book and study for the exam you should easily pass.
Amazing teacher. Hands down. This guy is awesome.
This teacher is awesome! He makes class very interesting.
Best Prof. I've ever had. The work is easy nd interesting if you do it. Does lots of in class experiments and s very helpful!
Reading the text is not all that nessecary, although the study guide questions come from the book. Random attendance checks but lectures are interesting so I wouldnt miss many. Overall one of my favorite classes.
So, I actually took this in Fall 2009, and am just now writing a review mostly b/c I wanted to offer helpful info and not just a glowing review. My advice: show up- attendance quizzes, plus important info for you to take notes on, take notes, look up book questions, and read the book. Pay extra attention when TAs teach, b/c they aren't as engaging
Fantastic as whole did such a great job in explaining things takes his time when talking to enhance his thoughts and clarity and i can honestly say taking notes is straight forward. otherwise super fun and easy class. The only hard part and crucial come the very few test days,, is to make sure you look over the book questions for the chapters.
Brilliant teacher. Not afraid to mention crazy stories of his past, and most are pretty funny. Covers all material, making tests and quizzes easy. Be sure to come to class, don't fall asleep, and participate. Be sure to read your textbook for the tests, it will really hurt you on your score if you don't.
Dr. Westcott is perhaps the greatest teacher alive. He shares personal stories from his own experiences and relates them to psychology in such a way that the concepts those stories entail are unforgettable. The things you learn in that class are fascinating. Did you know that you only breathe out of one nostril at a time. TAKE THIS CLASS.
He is perhaps the most amazing teacher I have ever had. He would tell stories about his past experiences and it'd be hilarious. Be sure to take good notes while he's lecturing, but half the time, I still remember his previous lectures. Study! Especially the textbook questions. Those are the easiest to score on his tests.
Dr. Westcott is an awesome professor! Attendence is mandatory! He gives attendence quizzes and they help your grade more than you think. Westcott also offers A LOT of extra credit. It helps! There are also a lot of textbook questions on his tests, so I advise to do the textbook question sheet if he gives one out!
Dr. Wescott is a great teacher, but his tests are very challenging. Some of my friends and I would stay up all night and study before the exam just to achieve a C. He is a good teacher and I did learn a lot but if you are looking for a slide by class, this is not for you.
Simple class. Easy to understand, not too many notes. Attendance isn't required, but he will have random attendance "quizzes" for 10% of your grade. Tests are easy enough, but DO THE TEXTBOOK QUESTIONS. Sometimes HALF the questions on tests are from them, so do them.
Dr. Wescott is a professional, and not to be taken lightly. This is not an "easy A" class. You definitely have to work.
Pay attention in his class. Details he gives you are the key to his tests. Tests often trick you but if you read them carefully you will be fine.
AMAZEBALLS! This guy is a great lecturer. You'll want a Front row seat. Take lots of notes and study your pool questions. You can't fail a test if you do the pool questions.
He is a great lecturer. He keeps you very interested and knows what he is talking about. His tests are challenging, but if you study, you will do well. The only time you really need to use the text book is for pool questions that he uses on the test, which are 20 easy points out of 60. You should attend class because he does attendance quizzes.
Do not underestimate this class. You do have to work. It is not an easy A. I made that mistake. STUDY!
He is a really good teacher! The best general psychology in UWF. He gives your the questions that will be on the test that are from the textbook. The final is not mandatory. All the quizes and exams are multiple choices. He made me love psychology. He has a really funny mentality also so it's never boring in class. But always attend or fail.
absolutely take this class with him. He tells you exactly what is on the exam and gives you attendance quizzes, which are really easy, so go to class. class is somewhat big so pay attention to what he says about what's on exams.
Great teacher, makes psychology interesting. Class is mandatory if you want to pass, but you won't be bored !
GREAT! Definitely take him for psychology! His class is super fun. I always wanted to go to his class. But make sure you go to class because he'll do random attendance quizzes that are an easy 2 points! Buy the textbook because his tests have questions straight from the book. Awesome class!
Highly Recommended Class, good learning pace, take notes and come to class and you will leave with an A+.
You will need the textbooks for exams. The tests and quizzes are pretty difficult, and I always studied. Information was organized and well presented. Extra credit opportunities. Funny anecdotes and experiments make concepts memorable. Biggest class the university offers: abt 300 students, attentive to all concerns and questions. Best UWF psychprof
Professor Westcott is a professor worth taking. His class is simple, lectures, interesting. All tests and quizzes objective/multiple choice. Go to lectures and it's an easy A. I would complain, however, that he doesn't really care about you, since there are so many.
Westcott is super easy and fun. He gives you most of the answers in class and makes class fun.
He's really funny. His lectures are amazing and he has a great story for every point he's trying to get across. Make sure to take notes on the lectures because that's 40 questions out of 60 on his exams, well his Gen Psych ones. Be sure to come to class it's very important for this one.
He has three multiple choice exams and an optional final which is just a retake of one of the previous exams. All exams are 60 questions, 40 lecture and 20 textbook based. Since the tests are straight from the lecture, attendance is recommended. He rarely checks it and when he does it's worth 1 point to total out 10 points at the end.
Be sure to buy the textbook because he puts textbook pool questions in every test. Study the lecture notes and you're all set for the tests! I made A's and B's on every test. He makes his lectures interesting and he has a lot of funny stories. There is extra credit opportunities within the psychology department for studies. Don't miss his class!!!
Westcott spends most of his time lecturing. Attendance isn't mandatory, but he will occasionally give attendance quizzes and you get a 100 for basically being there, so don't miss class too often. There are 3 major tests, USE the online study guides. Some of the questions on the study guide are verbatim the questions on the test.
If you don't take him, you're wrong. Literally my favorite, very understanding if you need anything or have any questions just go talk to him
Professor Westcott is a funny and interesting speaker, who seems to genuinely care about his students. Make sure to show up for lectures and take good notes as nearly all test questions come straight from the lectures.
Westcott was my favorite teacher! He was clear about what to do to pass the class, and the lectures were really entertaining.
He is an amazing teacher! His lectures are very interesting and he uses examples that make the concepts very easy to understand. I took his General Psychology class and it was great! You do need to show up though because the majority of the tests are on his lectures. Nothing bad to say about this man or his class, I would definitely take it again!
Dr. Westcott is an awesome psychology professor with a ton of stories to tell! He's really passionate about what he teaches, although he tends to repeat himself. But it's pretty funny, and just reinforces topics you know you'll need to memorize. I hope to have him again in a future course. He gives random attendance quizzes.
AWESOME teacher. He is very genuine and cars about his students. He has a good sense of humor and gives great lectures. I would definitely take this class again.
Absolutely the best teacher i have ever had.
Westcott is an awesome professor. He only gives 4 tests and there's no final. During lectures he only goes over what will be on the tests so you aren't learning unnecessary information. He helps keep the class interesting and you should take this if you are looking for a easy A.
Westcott is awesome and I was said to leave his class. One downside to him is that you go through the grad student more then him, but if you insist he'll meet with you. Two whole letter grades of extra credit were offered during my semester. He wants you to pass and have fun doing it.
I enjoyed going to his class every Tuesday and Thursday. He made the class fun and as long as you attend and pay attention in class you should do well. He won't yell at you if you're on your phone and the classes usually have around 100 people. Best lecture class ever!
Dr. Wescott is amazing. He gives random attendance quizzes that have meaningless questions you can't get wrong (opinions, obvious answers, etc.). His lectures aren't too long, but sometimes he seems to get a bit lost. No final! He gives MANY extra credit opportunities. 25 final grade points worth. I wish he could teach all of my classes.
Not clear on his lectures and the book is not helpful what so ever.
AMAZING professor!! To pass this class you have to go to class and write down the notes he gives you because that is what will be on the test. TAKE HIM if you can! He is so funny, and his lectures are never boring because of his personality. He never gives homework just the tests and A TON of easy extra credit.
His Lectures were the most important if you go to the class and take good notes then you should do fine on the test he also gives you a pool of question that includes 15 of the questions on the test and there are 50 questions in total. He will answer them during his lectures and when he says something is important it is because it'll be on the test
Professor Westcott to me is a good professor but his class is only lectures and there is only 3 exams and no final so attendance is required for part of your grade. He does offer extra credit and that can mean the difference between a whole letter grade. The exams are based on his lectures and the textbook pool questions which you can memorize for the test. Each exam is does not go with the information from the last which is easier so you don't have to remember the past information. Overall I enjoyed the class but it depends on your feelings about lectures.
Professor Westcott is one of the best professors I've ever had. He is very experienced and knows soo much about psychology. All of the material for the test is only given in class during the lectures so you have to show up, plus he gives random attendance grades. Also a lot of EASY extra credit opportunities.
He cares for his students and truly wishes for them to succeed in his class and in life. His lectures are hilarious and his class was fun to attend.
Dr. Westcott is an amazing professor. His teaching style is excellent.
I loved lectures with him. He did a great job at making everyone feel involved in the course.
He was my favorite professor out of all of my classes. Very good about keeping up with the students needs; for example, if his website is acting weird, he lets us know the next day or via email. Passionate about life and inspired me to study Psychology as my major when I was undecided.
Great teacher. Loved him. Only 3 exams, split up throughout semester. Not very hard, but need to attend class or you'll miss the lecture and not pass. Never used the book. Everyone should take a psych class and he's the professor to take it with
If you miss his lectures you are gonna have a rough time. He covers a very broad spectrum of subjects, and his test are very difficult.
Westcott is by far the most entertaining professor I've ever had. He's extremely thorough, grades the same way for every exam, and gives a lot of extra credit points. Make sure you use the textbook pool questions before the test to study and you'll pass with an A if you study your notes. His class is well worth it!
I loved taking Dr. Westscott. Grade is made up of PRP points (15 points) and 3 exams (no final) with half of the test he gives to you with the pool questions so study them! Don't miss class or you'll be confused on what we're learning next. His lectures can get pretty boring but he have a story for everything and it's hilarious.
Westcot is a great guy but he teaches a little differently. The only grades the whole semester are 3 exams, with that being said, if you don't do the best on any of them it can drop your grade real fast. He teaches his material in a broad and general way and then his tests are very specific. I am a smart person and this class was hard for me.
He is very interesting. He tells many personal stories that apply to the lectures. There are only three exams so I recommend doing the extra credit.
Okay as a person, Dr. Westcott is super awesome. He's very funny and has a lot of cool and relevant stories. The only grades are the random attendance "quizzes" (you sign an attendance sheet) and three exams, plus some extra credit stuff. If you don't go to class and don't do well on the exams, you'll kinda be screwed. It's kinda rough, but fun?
Westcott is a great professor and genuinely cares about what hes teaching. He makes the lectures fun and enjoyable to be in. He grades you by attendance and tests only so make sure to study for his exams. He offers extra credit as well so take advantage of that.
Dr. Westcott truly cares about his students and what he is teaching them. He often gets off topic and tells a lot of stories, but they're always good. Study for the exams, as they are the biggest part of your grade. Review sessions tell you exactly what is on the exams, and attendance is taken randomly.
Professor Westcott was amazing. He is sweet and always incorporates stories into his lectures to make them not boring. He is hilarious. He will stress the part of the notes that will be on the test so those are the parts to memorize. The pool questions are all online. Literally such an easy class with an amazing professor. I would take him again!
