Had him for European History - he's great. Compared to other hist profs, his lectures are clear and to the point. if you attend all classes and take detailed notes, you wont have a problem on the tests.

Awesome teacher, super understanding. anyone who compains about how he marks tests or papers, either didnt study or couldnt think. I wrote very short essay anwers and ALWAYS got an A on the tests. Content not Length.

he makes history interesting, his tests are good once you know what they are like:fill in the blanks have to know harder answers,the essays are hard he grades them very strictly follow all the guidelines to the letter and you still may not get a good mark

He's a really good teacher. His tests are fairly easy as long as you study the way he tells you to. He seems very fair and really knows his stuff as far as the content of the class.

Gives very detailed, comprehensive lectures. A decent marker on exams but VERY hard on essays like English teachers. Make sure to know Chicago-style citation too! Talks a bit fast too. Class discussion of journals is boring too. I got a B+ by some miracle. Learn alot, but not easy though, be warned.

Thor is incredible! He is passionate which makes for an extremely enjoyable lecture. Prepare for writers cramp as there is alot of info to cover. Exams are easy if you study your notes. Thor is by far one of the top history profs at the university. He is passionate about Canadian history and will make you enjoy it because just like you, he once detested his Canadian history classes. He is knowledgeable, insightful and highly informative. He's a walking encyclopedia of Canadian and British knowledge. Highly, HIGHLY recommended.

He's a great teacher. Really clear, easy to understand & makes history fun; however, he's a really hard & unfair marker. He expects far too much & it seems impossible to reach his standards. Don't take if you're looking for an A.

Thor is an amazing prof with an amazing love of history. He makes the subject informative and exciting, and in a class of less than 10 consistent students, it's hard to do. Highly recommended for 4th year history classes (cause there's no exams!!)

I don't even know if the number I put in is the right course I took with him because it was 7 years ago now, but I can honestly say that I went on to do a history degree because of this teacher. He is amazing.

Thor is fantastic, I cannot say enough nice things about him. He makes Canadian history fasinating!! (who knew?) Going to his class is like listening to a really interesting story and his expectations are extremely reasonable. Take his class! Any of them, but especially Cdn history.

Thor is awesome! The midterm was decent, he gives very interesting lectures. He marks brutally hard on essays, but its for your own good, you'll learn about your writing mistakes and correct them. If I get the opportunity I will absolutely take another class with him. Awesome prof.

My favorite teacher! i have to transfer to sfu soon to finish my degree but I'm staying at kwantlen 1 more semester specifically to take his class. he gives clear instructions for essays and tests, go to his office hours for help, he is more than happy to guide you!

He is a great teacher. His lectures are easy to follow and take notes on. He is a hard marker but he gives you all the information in class, so his marking really is quite fair. He is very helpful and knowledgeable. One of the best kwantlen teachers I've had so far.

This is one amazing teacher. I can truely say I enjoy his classes. Even after I received a D from him on one of my papers this was not going to stop me from taking more classes with him. Every class that is offered with him I will take. You can hear the passion in his voice when teaching and it creates a very good learning enviroment! Great guy!

Excellent prof, very helpful in class & always available in office hours. Upper level history courses are NOT lectures-the calendar states its a seminar based course! Expect to use your 3rd year university student brain to do your own research and lead the class discussion based on what youre presenting. He's there to guide the seminar not lecture!

Made what I considered a fairly boring topic, pre-confederation canadian history, quite interesting and enjoyable. Good essay topics in that they are very general and you pick your own. Bit of a tough marker, but helpful if you ask for aid.

Go to class: 99% of the exam is from notes taken during class. No multiplce choice. Made the mistake of not attending near the end and it's about to bankrupt me on the final tomorrow. Very very enthusiastic, likes to pace. Clear and loud. Hardest essay marker yet, but do your research and write CLEARLY and you'll get a good mark. Good teacher.

He's the first history prof I took at Kwantlen, and I don't want to take anyone else! He's super nice, very friendly, and very knowledgeable and passionate about History. 100% of the exams are based on lectures so attendance is VERY important. At least half an hour of class is class discussions on the readings he assigns.

Great prof! I'd definitely recommend him to anyone who is actually interested in history. He lectures like he's telling a story so it's easy to follow and understand. Very helpful, but not always an easy marker. Take advantage of his office hours when it comes to essay writing.

Thor is the definition of a great teacher. Really engages with his class, enjoys his work and learning and teaching about history. 10% participation mark, will try to call on everyone for their opinion in every class. Good discussions. Hard marker, will make you work for it.

Your essays must be clear, precice, and right to the point...to get a good mark...his tests are okay...you must know the notes very well!...He does not have powerpoint so you must write down what he is saying...and class is mandatory to pass this class!...overall you learn tons in this class...i highly recommend it!

He is probably one of the best History professors out there. It's an easy course if you write everything he lectures on and understand everything you've written down. He is not an easy marker for essays but certainly approachable and very helpful. Take him if you want to learn something!

Thor made me love Canadian History. I think taking his class is a real benefit, but be respectful of his knowledge and his time. He is willing to listen, and help with assignments. Two Essays, Midterm, and Final. Honestly, easiest class I've taken. Just make sure you do the readings through out the semester and you'll do great!

Frohn-Nielsen is a great prof! Made me like Canadian history. Would take him again and recommend to others who are interested in Canadian history or other history courses.

Thor is very straight forward and if you didn't get something the first time- he will take time to explain further. He doesn't use textbooks to explain things you need to know, its all in his lectures~ so pay attention! I highly recommend this class for majors and non majors.

He is a very interesting lecturer and although the class is long I did find myself entertained for the entire process. My only downfall would be his level of unfairness when it comes to marking. He expects you to write papers as if this was your masters. You will need to attend every class and take notes as the text book is not followed.

Thoroughly enjoyed this professor. Be sure not to use too many adjectives, adverbs, and other useless language because in your essays he will write something like "I took your sentence of 50 words and condensed it to 20 words yet kept all the valuable information" Friendly. Helpful. Passionate.

Thor's (pronounced TOR) the man. He's in touch with the students and understands the difficulty of being an ungrad. Attend class, they're fun/relevant. Ask questions. Tough marker on papers/ask him directly what he wants on topic/sources. Passionate about Canadian/Brit history. 1 negative: 7-10pm + films = snoozefest.

A very entertaining teacher. I enjoyed listening to content that I thoroughly enjoyed. I did unfortunately end up with drawing from the class after the midterm (horrible timing I know). Its a harder class, and I wanted to have the writing skills to excel for when I re-take the course. He was very understanding, and I will take his class again soon

He is a great prof but very hard marker.I love history and i enjoyed every second of his lectures. His midterm is fill in the blanks of what he says in class so it is very important to write down everything he says! The essays are marked very very hard but if you go to his office hours he is very helpful! I recommend him if you like history.
