Awesome teacher. Very funny guy. Rewards 100% on tests. He's very clear, goes over homework. My only complaint is the book was too expensive.

Thor the Thunder God! This man knows math...more importantly he knows how to make math students laugh! Great teacher for the "math challenged"! Homework assignments due everyday is a drag - but he gets the job done - grades fair clear expectations and SUPER avail - take advantage of his office hours - he can teach anyone!

Took the combined algebra courses. Fast paced, but covered it very well. Very engaging teacher. He gets the class involved. This man cares about your grade and future. He even gave us his cell number! If you are math challenged, he is the man. Always has a good Africa story. Long live Thor!

really is an amazing teacher...he REALLY helps you with the homework by going over the problems that arent assigned so that you know what to do with the other similar to the equation...Hes nice and funny and makes you really enjoy math rather than DRONE you out with notes and lectures...hes really helpful...wish he was teaching MATH 111 =P

Great sense of humor and loves math too. Would take him again. He is a bit of an acquired taste. By the end of the quarter I wanted to be the first to give him a hot pepper(filled with M&M's).

I used to dread mathmatics, but that fear is now relenquished thanks to professor Johansen. concepts that are troublesome for most become easier to grasp, since the professor breaks down each problem in every way possible at a moderate pace. light hearted humor is sprinkled here and there, providing a breath fresh of air during note taking.

Maybe the only math class I ever liked. I love this guy he has a sense of humor and he skips the graphing parts, makes the class REALLY easy. I definitely recommend him!

Ok this guy is one of the best chemistry teacher I have ever had in my whole entire life and the fact that I hate math, he actually makes me like math and I actually enjoy attending his class. Plus he's funny and down to earth but kinda weird..lol

He gives you his direct cell phone if you ever need help. He keeps the class funny by crackin jokes from time to time.

He was Awesome, and always willing to help. I even continued to go to him when in other math classes. Since his ability to break thing down and simplify problems was more helpful then my other instructor or even the tutoring center.

Easily the funnest professor I have had. Love him. I may not be getting an A in the class but still a decent grade and he makes class fun and relatively easy to learn because of his easy demeanor.

He's AWSOME!!!! mOST helpul teacher I've had and sets a really high standard for the rest of the teachers on campas. You'll never fall asleep in his class even if you pulled an all nighter.

Thor is the BEST math teacher I have ever had! I am soo sad that he's not teaching the next math class I need, but when I need help I am def going to his office to ask for help! Take him for every math class you need. He always has a funny story to tell the class and makes it fun to go to class early in the morning.

BEST MATH PROFESSOR!!! He's sooo funny! and everyday he always have some interesting story to tell. His lectures are very EASY to understand!He really cares about the students! In fact he even gives us his cell# to call whenever you have questions about math. If you need to take a math class,definitely take it from THOR! You won't regret it!!

He's the best. I didn't understand anything in Math 148 of Amy's class. but once I took Thor's class, I had full knowledge of Math and got a 4.0. The class is always interesting and you'll never get bored or feel sleepy.

He makes everything crystal clear. You better know at least your basic math (adding/subtracting like variables, factoring, etc), because he doesn't spend time reviewing. He is always willing (eager almost) to help students. Also, a big plus about him is that he is very entertaining. He always gets you going with his life stories. TAKE HIM

Very funny, nerdy fat guy lol. He spends half the class talking about funny stories from his life and the other half teaching math. He goes pretty fast but will help you anytime you need help. Highly recommended. Oh, and try to do hwrk at home instead of copying it off the chalkboard everyday, it helps.

Greatest math teacher ever! If you don't get logs... think again with Thor as your teacher, he's very helpful. Funny ass teacher! He has many hilarious stories to share, one almost every day pretty much. He like's puzzles, so suck up to him with a huge puzzle gift!

I took a class from Thor awhile back- He is a very dedicated teacher- and for those of us that hate math or think we are horrible at it- he will change your mind! He is funny and has some great stories. He is super accessible and helpful. You can tell he loves what he does and really wants people to understand math and its applications.

Johansen is a great professor. He always has little stories to tell to keep everyone awake. There is homework due every day so make sure you go to class. He drops the lowest exam. He's helpful because my calculator broke and he tried helping me fix it.

Awesome teacher, and always has a funny story to tell! He made math pretty easy, he explained it really well and could explain it in a couple of ways if you need. He also has memory devices for many things. In my class he would give candy bars to who ever got a 100 on their tests! Would highly recommend!

Thor is an awesome teacher! I have never been good at any math before but after I took his 107 class I got a perfect grade. He is easy to connect with as a teacher and he is very lenient with grading. Very funny and smart as well. This has been the only math class I have taken where I have actually kept many of my notes and finance papers!

Thor shows interest in teaching and makes math worthwhile. Short hw assignments daily, but pretty easy. He has some weird but interesting stories. The math has real life application and you will probably end up keeping some of the papers from this class. Definitely sign up for him, he is an excellent teacher!

HW is done online and pretty easy but he is an anal grader on tests; hw doesn't really prepare you for the test. He goes offtopic sometimes, but overall is laid back and kind of goofy in class. He doesn't really use the textbook.

this is my math teacher who is very helpful and very clear in explaining the topic. he makes it easy for you to understand. Take him if you want to get a high grade. compare to my new math teacher who is very not helpful and clear in explaining, i dont like it. It's because thor didnt teach math 91 that i didnt take him this quarter.

Thor is the man! Very clear and helpful. The HW is online and easy. He's pretty goofy and loves his chicken pot pies from KFC. Great teacher overall, I'd recommend him.

I can't believe I ever looked forward to a math class. Thor's enthusiasm for math and clarity in communication made class enjoyable, and his (sometimes off-topic) stories were helpful in retaining my attention. I would recommend Thor to a student who hates math but has to take it anyway.

okay guys, this is the easiest math class in the world. What we did was barely even math lol I got a 99% and I suck at math. Then again I probably did so good because it isn't even math.. homework every night but its literally only one problem and you go over it in class the next day before you turn it in so you can get 100%. He's awesome. Easy 4.0

Class is never boring, he always has interesting stories. He's very helpful &encourages students to always ask questions. He takes his time to explain how to solve the problems. He goes through the online H/W in class and the tests are VERY similar to homework. Just take notes I class and review the homework, you'll definitely get an A.

the best teacher ever! super funny and so easy, very helpful in absolutely everything, i was scared taking math but with him, it became my favorite subject. will not regret! he's very helpful, funny, NOT boring, easy to understand and even generous, gave his graphing calculator to one of the students for a whole quarter that couldnt afford it.

He is good at explaining the material and the workload, homework and tests are very straight forward. If you are looking for a math 100+ class for your general AA, STOP LOOKING, because Thor's math 107 class is a great choice. You have to attend class and study a bit to understand the material but its super easy once you get the hang of it.

Hands down best teacher ive ever had. Really awesome and so laid back. Its so easy to understand because the problems he teaches and assigns are the exact ones on the tests. If you need help on HW, call him and ask and he doesnt mind one bit. He actually says he enjoys doing math in his spare time. Take his class, youll actually enjoy math.

He is a great teacher and very helpful not good at swering he's email but you can always call him at the times that he tells you his able. I would tale him again and yeah hi is really funny.

I took his Math 81 class in the winter of 2015. By far one of the best professors I've had. I loved his teaching style. Yes, he does tell stories, yes he is blunt, yes he tells slap-stick jokes, but in the end, you will come out of his class with a greater understanding of math. He is a firm, but fair teacher. I wish I could take him again.

Thor is a great teacher, deadlines and due dates are very clear. Fun to talk to has a great personality and he knows how to teach math well and make difficult concepts easier.

I took this class Spring 15 and failed with a .9 with a teacher who said if I couldn't pass it with him I wouldn't pass it. Well I just passed with a 3.6. Thor is so straight to the point it makes it so much easier to learn. He also goes at the pace of the class & gives plenty of help. He is funny which helps. The best math teacher I've ever had!

Awesome teacher! You don't find many, trust me. Can be flexible and is an understanding person. Lot's of fun stories to hear and joke good ol slap stick jokes when you come to class. Definitely puts some fun in the class. I mean how fun is math class anyways right. :)

I'm really not the greatest at math, but Thor does an amazing job of showing his students that the subject is nothing to be afraid of. He really cares about his students unlike a lot of his students that are only there for the paycheck! I say this because he'll do things like extend hw deadlines. I would say more but I'm out of characters :)

Thor is probably the best math teacher I've had. He really cares about his students and thoroughly covers content. He goes over lots of examples to make sure his students really understand the content. His tests also reflect what was learned in class and on homework. Highly recommend!!

One of the best math teachers I've had. While some professors talk briefly about the lesson, then leave you feeling lost on the homework. Thor is different, he actually goes over the homework and does it step by step so you get a clear understanding of it. Also on his quiz/test it's actually problems he taught.

Good instructor will help if you do your share of work.

Professor Johansen is very good at relating math subjects to the real world. He is clearly enthusiastic about his profession. Also some funny stories, he has had some crazy experiences. There is not much textbook use, just quizzes and homework done through mylabs online. Show up to class, ask questions, and you will be surprised what you can learn.

Mr. Johansen is a great teacher ! although there's a lot of homework but he will push the dates back so you can finish your assignments. Test are kind of heavy , you have to study ! he is very funny i enjoyed his class i learned a lot ! i would definitely recommend his class ! take him.

Thor Johansen is the best math professor hands down. He is very caring and wants everyone to succeed. He gives so many opportunities to complete assignments and go the extra mile to help you understand. If you fail his class you shouldn't even be there. Although I marked attendance isn't necessary you should go everyday.

Took his 091 course Fall '18. Keep a close eye on the due dates, do not assume that if you're caught up on homework friday evening that you don't need to sweat any due dates until sunday night- he sometimes sets the due date for saturday, even if it's a holiday weekend. Attend class, read the book, do the homework, you'll make it.

Personality is very caring and supportive to help you in class. Made math my favorite class that quarter.

lets be clear I HATE MATH!!! He made me not only get through the class, but actually ENJOY math. He is a total dork & tells dad jokes all the time. He explains things in a way that makes sense & goes over the homework in class. you cant be a pansy and take this class, because he will offend you. But he doesn't mean anything by it. AMAZING TEACHER!!

He doesn't use canvas and barely responds to emails which was unorganized. You have to purchase Web assign for this class and the textbook comes with the purchase. He graded very easily on tests, I could get the problem wrong but he'd still give me a lot of points for the question. His classes felt way too long.

Took MATH151. Very caring teacher and will extend homework deadlines. He explains lectures in a way that's very easy to understand. Teaches a little fast but once you're used to it, the class will be a breeze. Expect to study a little bit but he grades with alot of slack. Very straightforward class.

Prof. Thor has been one of my favorite teachers so far. He's very kind and tells funny stories. I will say his lectures aren't the best; he reads off the textbook, and his YT vids don't really help. His notes are good, though. He doesn't answer emails, but he does respond to text messages. If you're naturally good at math, take his class.

He was a super chill professor. Make sure to do hw and quizzes because they are very important. He loves giving partial points, and the practice tests feel almost identical to what the real one will be. He loves sharing stories but you will have to study a bit in your free time if u want a A
