Rushes, unclear. Not a structured course. Very scattered and seemingly disorganized.
Best professor I have had so far in university. She is extremely sweet and caring, always willing to help in office hours.
Thuntida is a great teacher! I really enjoyed her class. She is open to questions, helpful during her office hours and she is one of the nicest profs I've ever met! The course was slightly chaotic due to the implementation of reading break, so the end is rushed slightly. Midterm 1 is the hardest of the 2, so definitely watch out for that.
Shes a sweetheart and tries hard to get you to pass. A hard class, but I love her.
A little slow at first, but really picked up later. Thuntida is a caring prof that will make sure that you understand the course and the material.
Fave prof so far! Such a sweetheart!!!
Her notes are often wrong, she is very disorganized, rushes through all the important parts and overall seems to be in a rush to get to the next topic. This class is super hard
Thuntida is a great prof and really cares about student success. If you have questions she will help you until you understand. She gave great advice for midterms and final, so if you attend the lectures you'll do well. She uses the coordinators notes but writes her own beside them in a simple way that is understandable. Highly recommend her!!
Thuntida really cares about her students. Her notes are really well written BUT she goes through them super quickly which is frustrating so you have to be a fast writer. She will tell you what to expect on the midterm and final and give you examples that really help. Replies to emails super quickly and her office hours help.
Thuntida is a very kind prof that genuinely cares about her students. She can be a little unclear at times so you have to really follow along to keep up.
Thuntida is the definition of a prof who goes out of their way to help students. Out of every 217 prof, she has the most office hours and responds the quickest to student questions. The course can be a little disorganized but as long as you do the assignment questions and practice questions you'll be fine. Way easier than 213.
Best prof ever. Made STAT 213 much easier than it may be. Absolutely loved taking it with her and I'm pretty sure all other STAT 213 students did. Highly recommend
She is an amazing prof. Stats 217 was so much easier with her as a teacher. She uploaded her notes so you could learn them if you missed class. Very respectful towards students, all ways answers questions and makes everything easier to understand. Her accent is a little tough at times but she is a really good teacher and tries all the time.
Take Thuntida if you want an A in STAT217. She will literally go over identical midterm and final exam questions in the class prior. The class itself will be very easy with Thuntida and you'll learn how to do everything under her guidance.
One of the most caring profs at u of c. She covers questions on midterms and finals pretty well and also gives hints in lectures. DO NOT miss a lecture! The professor is a solid choice, regret not taking stat 217 with her. She teaches very well and the textbook is not needed. Stat 213 is difficult but stat 217 is pretty fun and light compared.
One of the best profs I have ever had. Thuntida is a very sweet and caring person who cares about her students. If she sees you are trying, she will try her best to help as much as she can to help you pass the course. STATS is a hard course in general but she does her best to help you out. Highly recommend and will definitely take her again
Terrific my favourite prof
She is my favourite prof. So amazing!
Thundita is really kind, she will always try her best to help you no matter what questions you have. However, her lectures are often confusing and extremely rushed/disorganized. Some of the units she completely skipped and left us to learn on our own because of her disorganization to teach all of the course content. Seems like she always in a rush.
She is one of the best profs in my first year. Her lectures are pretty heavy and everything is going very fast, there are lots of things covered in one lecture which you have to work after class. For exam preps, she gives many past questions that have the same level of difficulties. Excellent prof, definitely will do my best to take her class again
Thuntida is enthusiastic and it's always a pleasure to attend her lectures.
Thuntida taught extremely well during lectures and would always do additional examples to help make material more understandable. She is always accessible during office hours and is very kind in helping. Would highly recommend taking stat with her!
Thuntida is a real gem. Sweetest prof you could ever have! Clear concepts, makes stats seem easy. No need for textbook and no need to go to class because she always uploads notes that are always clear and easy to understand. Also does helpful reviews before midterms and finals. I would highly recommend her. She's my favorite prof in this school.
She's an amazing prof. Easily the best stat prof I've had at uofc. She has clear notes, posts them online, and makes sure everyone understands what's going on. If I could only have one prof to teach my stat courses, it would be Thuntida.
Thuntida is a great prof who explains concepts well in class. You dont need a textbook and she posts clear notes online. Her midterm and final reviews are helpful and students from other lectures always attend them. Showing up to lectures is best but you can get away with not going sometimes. Overall a great prof and highly recommend her!!
Very funny professor, she tells you in advance certain questions that will be on the tests. She is very caring and is clearly very passionate about statistics. Highly recommend her!
Hands down the best prof.
THUNTIDA IS THE BEST PROFESSOR AT UOFC. THAT'S ALL !!!!!!!!!
She is the best prof I've ever had! she is very kind and caring. Her lectures are very good and she has lots of office hours (but there is always a line up so get there early). Its a hard class but honesty if you go to class and study I think you will be okay! I failed a midterm but I still got a B+ in the end, so don't worry if you don't do good.
A decent prof, but always seemed rushed. A few of the most important topics were jammed into the last two weeks due to poor time management. Made studying for the final very difficult.
Thuntida is by far one of the best professors I've had this semester. I found her to be very understanding towards students and communicates her work clearly. She also makes time and the effort for students to learn what they cannot understand. Would highly recommend for those who are considering taking stats!
Thuntida clearly cared, but seemed very scatterbrained throughout the semester and left out important ideas and we had to learn later after the relevant topic was already covered. Very rushed at the end of the semester, too. She was always available in office hours for extra help, which was good when topics got covered too quickly.
Available outside of class, but the class itself seemed rushed and sometimes disorganized. Things got difficult near the end of the emester when we had to rush to get through everything.
Thuntida is really passionate about statistics and truly cares about her students succeeding. Yes, it's true, she can go a little too fast in the lectures sometimes, but that's because she wants to provide as many different examples as possible, and I would much rather that than only get a few simple examples!
I loved this prof for stat 213. Shes extremely caring and super helpful in her lectures. She goes over and through questions slowly and literally shows you questions that youll see on the midterms and the final. Shes so kind and really wants people to do well in her class.
Thuntida is super helpful and caring!! lectures are important.
She is an absolute gem, she would call her students "sweethearts" and it was just the best. She is also super funny and quirky, i purposefully made sure I had her for Stats 217 the next semester. She always extents office hours during midterm/finals and has lectures dedicated for review that ends up being very similar to the actual tests themselves
SHE IS THE BEST PROF I EVER HAD! I would 100% take more classes from her in the future if I could! she explains everything very well, color codes her things to make it easier, gives hints to what is on the midterms, and has lots of office hours. She emails everyday expect for Sunday and is overall a great person!!
She is amazing!!
She is a sweetheart. took her for stat 213 and 217 and was legendary. She gives an amazing midterm prep book that is super helpful and extremely accurate. I messed up on a quiz and she allowed me to redo it. She told us to watch Titanic to do an example. Love her.
She is the best prof in my first year, I took both of her 213 and 217 and both of them were amazing. Definitely would recommend
Best prof I've had in uni, explains everything thoroughly and really cares for her students, ensures you have the resources and have learned everything you need to do well on the exams and assignments.
One of the best profs I've had. Genuinely kind and makes stat more enjoyable. She goes through examples thoroughly and clearly which made understanding the material way easier. Always available to help you during office hours. I would highly recommend!
Thuntida is one of the best profs I've had. Genuinely kind and makes stat more enjoyable. She goes through examples thoroughly and clearly which made understanding the material way easier. Always available to help you during office hours. I would highly recommend!
Easily accessible through email or office hours. Thorough and clear in lectures and humorous. Always attempt homework before lab quizzes.
She is good at explaining the concepts. If you don't understand a topic just go to her during the office hours and she will explain it again. she is a great prof
Although Thuntida is a sweetheart, she needs to explain the content more and not just focus on examples. She does go a bit fast in her lectures but is really helpful in her office hours.
Seemed very rushed and stressed throughout the whole semester, which made the class more difficult than it needed to be. If she didn't literally tell us what was on the midterms, I'm not sure if I would have done as well on them just based on her lecturing.
Definitely one of the best profs I have had. She is super kind and helpful as well! Thuntida was engaging before and during COVID-19, which is pretty rare from a teacher!!
So sweet! She is doing a hard job on it, but STAT213 is hard.
Great Prof, she does make long lecs, but they are worth it, you understand everything. She has a good voice too. She also throws in a couple jokes which make her lecs engaging. I definitely ecommend her
Love her. She is an inspiration and easily the best professor I've had so far at the University. It's a no brainer really if you get a chance to take a class with her. DO IT!
Thuntida is great, the class was asynchronous, but her lectures are well done and engaging and are usually able to answer any questions you have. Only complaint for the class would be that not all lectures were done by her. Some lectures by other profs are painful to sit through, but would still recommend going through them as they teach RStudio.
Dr. Ngamkham was one of my favourite teachers during my first year. She was super funny in lectures and you can tell that she really cares about her students. She teaches the class in a way that is easy to understand. Also gives lots of examples and hints on how to do assignments. Would definitely recommend taking her class!
Literally explains concepts in a way that make zero sense and skips over half the notes, I was getting 100% learning from other profs but I can barely get her way of teaching. Switch if you get her on campus
She is engaging and explains things very thoroughly. She seems like a wonderful person and clearly wants her students to succeed.
Some conflicting information is presented in the notes and videos. Code is not explained very well. Doesn't seem invested in the course at all.
She is the best. Her lectures are always funny and she does enough examples to ensure you understand the material. I would not pass up the opportunity to take a class with her again.
She's very cute and very wholesome, love her and makes me want to take another STAT course (as long as it's with her) she is so caring to her lecture group, she literally went through a practice exam in class which tests would have similar questions of. Absolute gem.
Very funny and engaging in her lectures. Would definitely take a course with her again!
Very good prof, she explains things very good and constantly repeats what she says so you can remember the concept. Very funny as well.
She is one of the best profs I've ever had. She clearly explains all the work and does many examples to make sure the material sticks with you. She is so funny and caring and is very easy to reach outside of class. If you can take a class with her do it she's absolutely amazing.
Was okay. Delivery of content was mostly good. Not my favorite but not too bad.
Thuntida is really wonderful to have. She often makes jokes and visuals in her notes which made it easier to pay attention. When looking back on those notes, they also made me smile since her visuals are so dang adorable. She has an accent but it really isnt too bad, besides that I love her! (:
was an amazing professor for this semester. makes information simplified and easy to understand; detangles complex concepts without losing their value. has the cutest notes with a ton of nice visuals to help you understand and stay engaged. her jokes and way of teaching makes you feel like its not an online class, super fun <3
Thuntida is the sweetest lady and the best stats professor you can hope for. Always takes time to chat and ask for feedback about the class. Super helpful notes but long lectures (not her fault, the course itself is packed and she is covering while Stallard is on sabbatical). Thank you so much Thuntida!
God bless Thuntida for being so enthusiastic, making stats interesting, and listening and responding to all students questions and concerns. What a gem. Really hard course but Thuntida is the only reason I kept going
Thuntida is probably the most considerate prof I've ever had in my 4 years of undergrad. She's a heavy believer in learning and not memorizing, so during tests and such, she would provide the coding needed where you just need to modify it to the question. She is very approachable so don't be afraid to ask questions! Love this professor!!
Really cares for her students and the grades they get
I had her for Data 501 last semester. She gave really helpful, detailed, sometimes critical feedback for the projects and was light on grading. I do wish that there was more support for this course; since we couldn't be in person, we missed out on getting regular feedback and had to email questions or wait until after a presentation.
If you are taking a stats course with her, don't look back. Everything will make sense, Thuntida is a caring, understanding lady who'll go above and beyond in her explanations to ensure her students success.
I've never been good at probability, so I walked into this thinking I'd do terribly. However, Thuntida was absolutely amazing. She's very smart and is super funny & wholesome. Very helpful and tried her best to remember everyone's names. This was her first time teaching this course, but her amazing personality made it feel like it was her millionth
She goes through lots of examples, but all very quickly and superficially. She does outright tell you what's on the midterm though and that's the only reason I've done well so far.
Awesome prof, she really helps you understand concepts and will always take the extra time to help you understand something.
She's really nice, but me personally, found her to confuse me much more than the online videos by Claudia. I also find her hard to understand at points. I would rather my professors be good than nice.
Unlike the person underneath my review.. I find that Thuntida explains EVERYTHING so well. I never watched the videos provided by other profs online because the explanation Thuntida gives in class helps you so much, and that's why I find it MANDATORY to never skip her lectures. She's so kind too and sweet 11/10
SO SWEET AND HILARIOUS! Approachable, personable and passionate. Brought a croissant just to show a bell curve lol. Her songs and tiktok references will live in your head rent free. Makes the classroom feel welcoming for questions and curiosities. Exams are made by the department and she prepares you well. Kindly hints midterm questions. The GOAT.
Cool prof, very nice and cares about her students. You can tell she teaches cuz she wants to show people that this stuff can be enjoyable if your with the right prof. But kinda confusing and jumps around the lecture slides which can be kinda messy and confusing so if you get confused easily this will be annoying at times. shes cool tho
Professor Ngamkham was a total gem this semester, especially considering that she carried a child to term during the semester gave birth during finals week! Overall, parts of this course were quite tough, but she did her best to ensure that students were adequately prepared for the difficulties of the material. I would strongly recommend her class.
This is a review about Thuntida the instructor and not the course overall. Scott Robinson is course coordinator for most of undergraduate stats. Thuntida is an amazing prof with a great sense of humor. she is caring for her students and will take the time to help them. Even though the lectures were recorded she made me want to go to class
SHE IS A BADDIE. GIVE HER, HER TENS THEN TAKE 2 AWAY CUZ SHE ATE. TAKE STATS WITH HER, BEST STATS PROF OUT THERE. QUEEN OF STATS
Good but not great. Very hard to understand what she was saying but still a really good prof
Makes sure everyone understands the material since STAT 213 is the building block for STAT 217. Very funny and adds great visuals to help students better understand. Due to the amount of assignments, examples given during class have relevance which makes the course easier than it already is. I love it when she calls us "dear." Such a sweet lady.
tough class if you're not strong in stats and math
DATA 305 is a lot of content and the course probably should be trimmed, however Thuntida is a fantastic prof. She is very understanding and clearly cares about the success of her students. The amount of content made this class overwhelming at times, but Thuntida was certainly not the problem. Go to lectures.
Thuntida was one of my favourite profs, I looked forward to going to her lectures which is crazy cause its stats. Easy course work, just takes a decent amount of time. She is very patient with students, and easy to get 4.0
difficult overall
Thuntida is very passionate and super interesting with her lectures. just an amazing person
She is a very engaging prof, especially for a STAT course. Easy A+ if you just do the homework, infinite attempts on basically everything.
Thuntida is very fun and deeply caring professor, her assignments were unlimited attempts + 48 hour grace period after the due date, her midterm was 10% and the final was 10% (both online) - making it very easy to ace the class & gives you leeway to actually give your brain space to enjoy what you're learning rather scrape for the grades!
very sweet prof
One of the best STATS professors at U of C—compassionate, caring, and always helpful during office hours. The material felt rushed due to the course structure, but assignments and "midterms" were fair. If you're relying on Chatgpt for this course, you're just being lazy.
I'm an arts major and was a bit sceptical about taking statistics, however, Thuntida was amazing! Her online lectures were both funny and engaging. Towards the end of the course, the material did get a bit challenging, but overall if you're new to statistics I would highly recommend taking a class with her!!
Great prof who taught stats, was a little bit confusing at times but overall awesome.
shes one of the best statistics profs at this uni and I have a lot of respect for her. she's a good person AND a good lecturer.
She's a nice person, but her quizzes and exams are completely unfair and not at all similar to any of the content she advised us to practice. Her lectures are also very difficult to follow and she jumps all over the place constantly. Avoid.
She's a funny prof, but IMO her teaching environment isn't conducive to success in the course. Her lectures and notes especially are all over the place and the course itself is quite content-heavy, making it difficult to properly grasp the material. In addition to the lack of resources, there was not enough feedback given to students to improve.
One of the worst formatted courses I have taken. The quizzes and assignments are all out of order (We wrote exams on topics even before the assignments were given). The lecture notes are diabolical. You would need someone with a magical wand to decipher what she means in any of those notes without spending 10 hours analyzing them. Steer clear
Thundita is a nice prof however the exams are almost irrelevant to the assignments, or the entire exam is based around one question of an assignment that hasnt had its solutions posted yet. The class is very hard to keep up with and is all over the place and very confusing if you miss even part of one lecture. The lecture notes provide nothing too.
