Tests are next to impossible, readings are boring, but doable. She is very helpful, cheerful, friendly and genuinely interested and excited to be where she is. A good class, if you have a love of Latin American history. Also, she is by far THE HOTTEST professor on campus, and that is probably the reason I don't take many notes in class.

This teacher is awful. The amounts of work is insane for a level 100 class. She treats you like a child while being rude as if nothing else going on in your life but her class even when work is on time. DO NOT RECCOMEND.

This professor is awful! I did not enjoy her class at all. The amount of work that she assigns is absolutely absurd for a gen ed, online course. She assigns so much work and you have to wait forever for her to grade anything. She is not a good professor at all. Do NOT take this course.

It is very clear that she is liberal so it is not worth trying to voice any other point of view, this makes her grading towards all extremely bias. She treats this 100s level gen ed like it's a 400 level course. She takes 3-4 weeks to update grades and does not care about her students. Unsure how the university keeps her around.

Her course is uncomfortably political and is clearly geared towards supporting her personal causes and beliefs. If you don't drink her Kool-Aid, you're going to suffer both in your grades and mentally. The amount of coursework she prescribes for a gen ed is also beyond ridiculous and will easily make up the largest chunk of your homework.

I'm a freshman in college and the first week she assigned multiple essays and quizzes. I thought this was normal for college students but compared to my other classes, this is beyond crazy. You have to do around 2-3 essays every other week, a quiz, and maybe a discussion post with a video. Definitely don't recommend it.

In my career at Westchester, I have never spent more hours on a single class than I have on Dr. Malkin's History 100. This class took more of my time than anatomy, physiology, and microbiology combined! I am a hard worker and have no problems doing work, however, this class was way over the top. Save yourself and don't take this class!!

This class is awful. I would avoid taking this class the best you can. The amount of work you have to do for this class is insane. She send out modules each week and gives an estimated amount of time most of the time it is estimated to take you10 hours. If you unfortunately have to take this class be prepared to do the most pointless work ever.

This was the hardest class I've ever taken. If you know you like your course work organized please do not take this class! Nothing on the D2L page was organized, and I honestly cried almost every single day while taking this class. She claims that this is how the class has been formatted, but oh my days, the workload is absolutely insane.

This course is more writing-heavy than any writing course I've taken. The D2L page is so unorganized, and the workload is absolutely overwhelming. I wouldn't recommend taking this class even if you convince yourself you can get through it, don't put yourself through it. I cried almost everyday taking this course, and it really screwed me mentally.

Laziness to a degree that should be embarrassing. If you have to choose between taking her winter course or another semester take the semester. She did not make a winter class, she simply posted the recordings of lectures from years ago and changed nothing. Expect 9 hours of videos per week and that's before the required reading. Worst prof at WCU.

I've taken three of her classes, including online HIS100, which people like to complain about. She is actually such a good professor and is so well informed about the wide range of topics she teaches! She expects you to do a lot of work, but if you don't want to actually read sources and write assignments in a college class, it's not her fault.

Dr. Malkin is a horrible professor. She assigns so much work that is expected to take 8 hours a week. She makes you watch documentaries that aren't even in English and then write a paper about it. Each week there is a paper and quiz due and most of the time it is 2 papers. She is also no help, I have emailed her 5 times and never got a response.

Expect more essays than any English class you've ever taken. Grades extremely harsh and puts essays through tunitin. The class content is from YEARS ago and is impossible to find on the most disorganized D2L page you've ever seen. Undoubtedly the worst class I've ever taken. Stay very far away from this professor and save your money, you will fail.

She is very knowledgeable but very particular about what she wants from her students. She tends to expect a specific answer to questions in class, preferably one that aligns with her own opinions. Also, some of her assignments have no clear expectations, and she grades harshly, so it is difficult to figure out what she wants.

Did more essays than in my writing class. Essays were almost every week along with mini quizzes. The quizzes were bearable, but course was draining and was time-consuming. If you work, I don't recommend taking her course. This course required me to spend more time than all my classes combined. Don't recommend her at all!!

Tia Malkin is a rude teacher. Her class material is very boring, which may not be her fault, but the class is all essays every week. Her D2L is EXTREMELY hard to navigate through, and I can never find the assignments because they are not labeled correctly.
