hes not a bad teacher, every tuesday you have a test, every thursday you have a group discussion with your class. if you show up youll pass, tests are open note (which he prints out for you) and open book. one class the lights went out so we got 100s, we didnt have time for something so we got 100s

This class was awesome. I learned quite a bit and didn't really do that much work. He's a real smart guy too.

he is a funny little man that seems to like to have fun in class. what makes him unclear is the fact that his english isn't the best. it is understandable but amazing. i ahv yet to skip a class...there are also no tests or quizes only 7 5 page papers which are easy.

This man is one fine stack of foreign man pancakes. He hearts the sociological perspective and how sociology is a force beyond our control. He is always there for a helping hand and is quite adorable when he wants to be. Go to every single class because you never know what he will end up saying.

Professor Dong is a very nice man and is extremely helpful, but the language barrier makes his classes tough. But he stops and takes questions whenever needed, and tries to make things as clear as possible

this man inspired me to be a better person...his fashion trends are incredible. this is one good lookin man...in all honesty tho he of the kindest epople ive ever met and hes really fair and easy...it was a priviledge to be in his class

I have learned so much about leadership in his class. He is the most knowledgeable professor I have ever known. He treats you with deep respect and prepares each class with the most up-to-date research. His English is not bad at all. Despite his accent, his English is actually better than many professors who don't have accent. Excellent teacher!

In fact, his accent adds a cultural flavor to the class. More importantly, he is so knowledgeable and really knows what he is talking about. I would definitely recommend him.

Although his accent takes a little getting used to, he's a great teacher. He really knows the subject matter well and he's always there to ask questions just don't be afraid to ask. The class depends heavily on attendance and daily assignments so don't skip! If you do the work and take notes then you should have no trouble pulling off at least a B.

I'll be up front when I say I facebooked through this whole class and walked away from it with a B-. Attendance isn't mandatory in the traditional sense, but you should be there everyday so you don't miss anything. Homework due every Wednesday and quizzes every Friday. Good professor overall, very likable guy.

He is extremely easy to understand. As a matter of fact, his English is much better than most others. If you don't pay attention, you cannot understand nobody. The thing is the ideas he discusses in class are extremely meaningful and interesting.

good teacher, accent is hard to understand sometimes. no exams which is nice, attendance is key to getting good grades on powerpoint presentations which is a lot of your grade. fairly easy class overall, lots of movies and lectures

My favorite professor at WSU. Taking him for the 4th time next semester. He has an interesting sense of humor and if you get past his accent the material is easy to grasp. Took him for Soc 101, Social Stratification, Small Groups (Online), and will have Social Change with him. I recommend at least taking him for Principles of Sociology.

I love Dr. Dong! He is so knowledgeable and inspirational, always smiling, always up-beat, always ready to help! He can explain very complicated issues in one word and once you hear his word, everything starts making sense. I'll take a sociology class with him next semester.

He works with you one on one if you don't do well at some points and is willing to read your papers over and over again. Simply a very nice guy. I learned a great deal about research methods in his class.

He is a really nice guy. Accent is hard to understand at first but you get used to it and he will repeat himself whenever you need him to. A lot of note taking but you use the notes on all assignments and the final. He never ever takes attendance. Funny and just all around great guy.

Took him for Intro To Sociology, and he quickly became one of my favorites! Great guy, very funny, is concerned for his students' learning. The final exam is a bit rough but is a take-home, and as long as you paid attention and at least tried to do the reading you'll be okay. Doesn't take attendance.

His online research class was terrific! He is very approachable and wants students to succeed. Amazing.

The class is overall pretty easy, homework assignments usually once a week, no quizzes, only one test and it is the final exam. 3 movie assignments due but they are relatively easy and all of the movies are watched during class time. Great guy, very funny and very intelligent. I would take another class taught by him.

Really nice guy! He only gives one homework assignment a week and doesn't give out any quizzes or tests (except for the final exam a.k.a. a take home test). He also had us watch three movies and write reflections which wasn't too bad. He does have an accent but you get used to it. Overall I truly liked this professor and the class material as well

I took him freshman year for sociology. He isn't always the easiest to understand, but i promise if you go you will get an A. There are a few movies that you watch in class and have to write reflections on, but they truly are not very hard. Also, he has take home tests where you have to answer a set of questions but its super easy

This professor is great, very understanding, kind and passionate. Show up to his classes and you'll pass. He gives you a direct outline of his work, so you have no reason to not pass. He will do anything to help you if you're struggling, too. Overall great teacher, easy class.

One of my favorite professors at WSU. Really caring for his students. I learned a lot of theories and used them in movies to show your understanding of the material. Really learned a lot from him and his stories. Definitely recommend to anyone who needs a Social Understanding course.

Very lenient with late work, will just take points off. Has group discussions every week where you get to ask questions and he would respond to them. Very insightful. Had an 8 page essay for a final but it was based off a movie so it was pretty easy to write.

Dr. TJ is awesome! Take him for any and all sociology classes. He required for this class 3 books which he provided access to, no exams - just 4 papers. He loves his students and teaching is his passion.

TJ was an amazing teacher. You can tell he is very passionate about sociology. I had trouble with the class just because it is a tough subject, not because of TJ. We had weekly discussion posts but they were not difficult. Would definitely take again.

Professor Dong was a great teacher! he makes his classes easy! there are 3 things due every week but they are not too challenging. NO TEST!!!! the final is a movie ( the movie is good/ interesting) review and have to compare it to sociology theories. oh and no textbook to buy.He wrote his own textbook and provides for free. I Recommend his class!

Prof. Tian-jia Dong is a fantastic sociology professor at Westfield State University. I had the opportunity to take a few of their classes and found them to be engaging and informative. Prof. Dong has a deep understanding of sociological concepts and theories, and they excel at presenting complex ideas in a way that is easy for students to grasp.

Dr. Dong was a great professor, I took the honor's principles of sociology class and there is a lot of writing. Every week there is a topic of sociology that the lecture is based off of. There is also a reading or two assigned for the week and a one page paper is due every Saturday based on the weekly material. I highly recommend him as a teacher.

Class was super easy. Attendance is only taken on Fridays but showing up to every class makes the assignments a lot easier. TJ is super sweet and genuinely cares about his students. He's super passionate and knowledgeable about the material he covers. The class was an easy A and the 2 weekly assignments weren't difficult at all.

Amazing professor! He is kind, answers emails fast and grades assignments within a day. He is very understanding and will give you an extension for the weekly reflection papers if you ask for one. His lectures are entertaining since he uses funny stories to explain sociology. This was a stress-free class. I highly recommend it!
