Easy professor. All test and quizzes are online and open book. Going to classes is a must because Discussion points are given to students who are there. Class discussion between students and videos are the best part.
If you take the class in person you'll get an a guaranteed. Easiest class ever, just show up on discussion days for points. Tests are online and you can use your book. If you take the class online you don't need the access code just the book! Don't waste your money!
Great instructor, you must attend class, a lot of good discussions that you apply to everyday life. She is fair and drops the lowest grade exam. Would recommend her!
Easiest class I have ever taken. The class discussions were very interesting and helpful. Take her class, you wont regret it
The best teacher. It was the easist class I have even taken. She is so nice and helpful. I highly recommend her. TOO EASY
Easiest class I have ever taken! If you need this class, take it with this professor. Just do the work, and you'll be fine.
Good online class that was not that hard, just had to take the time to do the work. Instructions were clear and received good feedback on the assignments. Very fair grader.
Loved this course. Lectures are very interactive, and interesting. She dose not accept late assignments, for any reason, but gives out multiple extra credit opportunities. There are pop quizzes, which are no problem if you did the assigned reading. And come to class, because a good amount of assignments are on films watched in class.
Professor Reed maximizes the use of blackboard so the the text book was almost a waste. But the classroom discussions where always deep and sometimes became emotional as the topics ranged from acception of ones sexuality, divorce, to dying. She is one of the best professors I have taken at tri-c. And I'm def taking her course for my final semester.
Amazing women :)
She is a tough grader for an introductory class. Our class often gets rowdy and she can't seem to ever get things back in order. The students are often disrespectful to each other and she doesn't do anything about it. The only nice thing is that she often lets us out early. Don't bother paying for the never opened textbook.
This classteacher is great! You will love the discussions but be prepared to debate because everyone has different opinions which makes the discussion interesting (deviance, crime, relationships and religion to name a few). This was an in class session but the work was accessible on blackboard with detailed power point notes so don't buy the book.
Great teacher, read the assigned material and you'll pass. The exams are a bit harder, but she gives you the entire week to write the answers out and submit them. Don't need a physical copy of the book, just the electronic.
Ms. Reed is the best professor ever. She makes classes fun!! She is also very understanding and reasonable. Do the work, and you'll pass.
The learning environment is structured to learn content that will help you fare beyond school. The lectures are intense and interesting, you will get a real ch a nice to see how differently people think. This professor is passionate about her work, and it shows.
Take her, take her if you want to pass. This is a Professor he cares about her student.
Professor Reed is a great teacher and I would definitely take again. Her online class is a lot of work with the weekly assignments. Also she expects a well thought out paragraph for all responses. However, she isn't a hard greader. Her class is an easy A if you just do the work. And the work isn't hard at all.
Organized professor. Only one thing, she assigns long, extra long homework assignments. Test were tough too.
I completed this course online, and it was by far one of the easiest. Professor Reed is every clear on the syllabus, Gives all of the assignments the first day and lets you know when you need to have them done by. The textbook is only needed for the exams, All of the assignments are based off of your opinion. You are aloud to use book for exams.
I took Prof. Reed's course online and really enjoyed it. She makes all the weekly assignments available at the beginning of the semester so you can work ahead if you want and I found these largely opinion-based assignments thought provoking and engaging. The tests are all essays but I didn't find them too difficult. Will definitely take more w/her!
Love this woman! she cares about her students. Still have 100 percent in her class. yes it's a lot of writing but if you like sociology then it won't matter. I wish she could be my teacher for all my classes. Also uses slides instead of book
Sociology is not really in my comfort zone-- but I LOVE this professor! She gives all asignments the first week so you can work ahead, and her essay tests have clear criteria and she gives you AMPLE time to complete them (a week!!) If I had to take sociology again I'd 100% take/recommend her! Also--the online book is cheaper AND just as useful! :)
Prof Reed runs a great Sociology course. Everything is clearly laid out in the syllabus and all assignments (except exams) are available on day 1 so you can work ahead. She assigns discussion topics that make you really think. Very responsive to questions or problems. This was my 2nd class with her and I'd definitely take her again!
Her online SOC1010 wasn't bad, except for the fact that she "couldn't open" my first exam, even though it worked fine for me on multiple computers. Besides that, her class was pretty easy. As long as you complete your assignments on time (she does not accept anything late), you'll get an A.
The class itself is awful but as long as you do the assignments, you should get an A. I hate sociology and truly don't understand anything about it, but got an A because I did the assignments. I asked her for feedback a few times and got no response, so don't expect much communication.
Professor Reed is amazing! Took a 10 week course with her, and as long as you do the work and complete everything on time there is no reason to not get an A. Very clear on what needs to be done every week. Simple assignments that can be completed in an hour or so. Only 2 tests, 100 points each. Highly recommend! No papers and no projects.
Probably one of the worst teachers I have ever had. She does not give feedback on any assignments but is quick to say something when she does not agree with your opinion. I suggest anyone who is thinking of taking any class of hers to not!
Prof. Reed is the BEST! Her class is fun and interesting. Assignments are predicated on real experiences. I absolutely love her style of teaching and I wish I had her for all my classes!
This class was fun and an easy A. The professor was great! She gave all assignments with rubrics the first day of class. That being said, she doesn't take late assignments without documentation. She was very relatable and accessible.
Best class ever! Loved playing Social Stratification Monopoly and I enjoyed the flipped class approach.
I love Professor Reed she is awesome. Her lectures really get you involved.
Nice professor and runs a great online sociology class, do the work, communicate with her and it's an easy A.
Very nice! Tells you the first day what is expected and follows the syllabus. Gets you involved in class discussion & learns your name. Provides lots of extra credit activities and is very updated on grades
Easiest online class I've ever taken. All you need is the access code and every assignment is on there with the due dates. Sometimes all that was due was a simple 3 question quiz on a short video. Not hard whatsoever! The book really taught me a lot with the reading and it was a great experience. Take this if you need a simple class.
Tiffanie is one of the worst online professors I have ever had. She is not clear about any of the material and is not willing to help when emailing her. I asked for the broken down points of an assignment and she would not give them to me. I also hated the fact we had assignments on MindTap and Blackboard, which was very confusing.
Rudest professor ever. She is so unprofessional. Don't bother taking this class.
Best online class ever! Organized professor, assignments were fun, you can work at your own pace since all assignments are given the first day, grading rubrics used for feedback, and extra credit offered. If you don't pass her class, shame on you!
Interesting lectures and she encourages you to think critically. Fun class activities and discussions. Open book essay exams. Extra credit offered and free book used!
I wasn't to sure about Sociology but this professor knows her stuff. She helped me see Sociology in my everyday experiences. Her lectures are lively and interactive! I don't want the semester to end! I would definitely take her again!
Extremely easy class, very clear syllabus, workload is very light, posts grades quickly
This course was the easiest online course that I have ever taken thus far. Everything was explained in the syllabus. I learned a lot in this course and I have already enrolled in another online class that she teaches next semester.
8 week class so it was a little face paced, but doable. 3 video quizzes(very easy). 3 small writing assignments. 3 disscussion boards. 2 questions assignments (very easy). 3 bigger writing assignments (not that bad). And 2 exams. Overall, GPA booster and some interesting assignments. You can work ahead as well.
One of the best online professors I ever had! She do take grading seriously! Everything that is expected is written in her syllabus, and she follows it. She can be a tough grader. Overall her online course is a easy A, if you do all the work. Also, she offers a lot of extra credit. I would definitely recommend her! Shes awesome!
I took this course online this summer and it was great! She is very clear about what she expects from her students. If you do the work you will pass. There were several discussion boards that had topics that were engaging and thought-provoking. A couple of papers but most only required one page. I would take another class of hers!
I took her 2010 Summer online .She is a great Professor this is my second time taking her class online. If you do the work you will pass her class. She puts all questions about the course in the Syllabus so make sure you refer to that before sending her a message. Overall great class.
I would email her and she would simply respond "CHECK SYLLABUS!" for anything (and I mean anything) that I would ask. She would not give much constructive feedback, just "1 page" or "check syllabus".
This woman was the most disrespectful professor I have ever encountered. She could not answer a simple question without having an attitude. This is a great example of why Tri-C is so cheap. Put some extra money in and get a better professor; one who actually cares perhaps?
Great c Online class! Everything explained on the announcement board, syllabus, and rubrics if you take the time to review it! Work at your own pace! She is the best!
I have taken several of her in person and online classes. She knows SOC and the course content is informative and relevant to issues in society today! I have a disability and am able to clearly understand her expectations! At this point, I am switching my major because of what I have learned in her classes. Take her, the classes are fun and easy!
I love this class! I learned so much about race that I didn't know before taking this course. Discussions were interesting and were relevant to what is happening in society today. Great to hear alternative perceptions. Instructions, assignment, and expectations were clear on the announcement board and syllabus. Will take another classes. Easy A!
Tough grader for no reason. Very short, snippy and rude when contacted about work or missed points. Will take off points for stupid things. Essentially an easy A but shes a lazy teacher. Doesnt even use her own lectures or content, just repeated book info!
I enjoyed this class and how the course was structured! The class was very informative! If you follow the instructions and submit your work on time, you will get an A. She is an easy grader and her class is organized. She gives extra credit at the end if you miss work. Love her!
I enjoyed her Race & Ethnic class, it is relevant for today and gives you a well rounded perspective on the current state of our society. This is my 2nd class with Prof. Reed. I like the style of her courses and how all assignment/instructions are given the first day. She makes the course easy for you to pass (i.e. open book exams).
I attend OU but I took Social Problems with Professor Reed at Tri-c over the summer and the course was very interesting and engaging. It was a quality class and worth every penny!
This course was worth the money! I learned a lot and got an A. Looking forward to my next class with her.
This was my first online class at Tri-C as I am a non-traditional student at the age of 62. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and it's configuration. The professor was accessible, professional, understanding, and provided several opportunities for extra credit. I have already registered for her online Gender course next semester.
Super easy and fun course to take. The assignments are usually related to the reading and you have to write some sentences about you opinion, that's it! Though, sometimes you don't even have to read to understand the assignment. Test are all multiple choice. Readings can be a lot at times also. But, I highly recommend if you want a simple course.
I took her race class (SOC 2550) and it was very interesting and needed for this time period. This course put everything going on in society in it's perspective. Will be sure to take her again.
I am enjoying this class about gender and learning a lot about men, women, and being transgendered people. The assignments are interesting and mirror trends in today's society. I like her style of teaching.
Dont take her class, unprofessional, and doesnt care about her students daily life outside of school.
This was an easy class and a grade booster. The assignments were interesting and fun. Extra credit is available if you miss assignments. Just do the work and you will pass. She is a great professor and accessible to students.
This professor is cool and her classes are informative. This is my second class with her. I really like that you can work ahead because all the assignments are available the first day of class. I love the discussions and videos too. Everything is explained in the syllabus and she sticks by it.
I'm a CCP student and my friends told me to take her class and I didn't regret it. I learned a lot.
This class was great! The exams were open book and the work is really common sense if you are a critical thinker. I never had to contact the professor but the course was well organized. Easy A!
Please don't take her class you will regret it.
I did good on all my test and i still failed the class
I enjoyed this class. The assignments were available for you to work at your own pace. Test were open book. Overall, easy course. I would take her again.
I took social problems. Class was interesting. I like that you are encouraged to think outside the box to solve social problems. Assignments were relevant and relatable. Loved the discussions. Do the work and you'll pass the class. Professor was cool and gives extra credit.
I love Prof. Reed! She is by far thee best Sociology professor. I have taken all of her classes and I have learned a tremendous amount of information pertaining to our society. Make sure to read and follow the syllabus and you will do great!
I took intro to soc with this professor online. She did not utilize the online platform well - she did not enter due dates or assignments on the platform, she just had them in the syllabus. Hey lectures were all YouTube videos - not her actually lecturing. Her communications and announcements were cranky - very stand-offish and not approachable.
I took her class. I missed a few assignments and the exam but she gave extra credit and I still got a good grade. I had a few personal issues this semester and she was very supportive. I will take her again once I able to give 100% .
I don't like taking online classes but this one was worth taking. The material and assignments were easy to access. I think she covered just about every social issue in society today. I really hated to see this class end because it was very informative.
Easy course if you think critically, apply yourself, and do the work, you will get an A.
The content was interesting. The teacher was fair in grading and responded to my emails/questions in a timely manner. Got an A!
This class was very easy to manage and was interesting! I really enjoyed it and passed with an A.
this class is an easy A. I never touched the book and she doesn't give many assignments at all. She put the whole semester schedule of when assignments were due and most of it you could do at anytime instead of waiting for her to post it.
If you wish to be taught by an absentee automaton, Professor Reed has you covered. If you prefer a professor be present, that they provided personalized instruction and guidance, that they take an interest in your progress, or indeed that they do ANYTHING other than silently drop grades on you ... stay away. Utterly impersonal. Would not recommend.
I like that the Race class was organized and the assignment were available the first day of class. Grading was clear and extra credit was provided. Great Class! The professor professional and quickly responded to my emails!
I am in high school and this was my first college class. Prof. Reed made this transition easy for me and helped me along the way when I emailed her countless times. I look forward to taking another class with her next semester. With her help, I got an A in the class. Her exams were open book essay questions.
The race and ethnicity course was interesting and easy to navigate. I found it easy to apply the social theories to everyday life situations. It gave me a new way of looking at things. I would refer this course because it challenges our thinking and allows us to gain a different perspective from others point of view, especially in this culture.
I have a disability but I did not have to use my accommodation letter for her class. No timed quizzes or exams. The class was well structured and accommodating to those who have disabilities. Taking SOC 2010 with her next semester.
You are screwed if you are sick. Her policy for sick notes is ridiculous. I had a positive covid test that she would not accept. She also told me that my doctors note just showed I went to the doctors, not an extension on the work. Very annoying trying to communicate with her. Overall the class is easy.
She clearly knows the subject she's teaching and has an in-depth syllabus. She comes off cold and Unapproachable if you have any questions, if you're sick etc. Her answer will always be "check the syllabus" unless SHE thinks the answer to your question is worth answering, you'll get the same response if its an emergency like a family member dying.
The course was well organized and the professor followed the syllabus. She always returned my emails quickly. I needed extra time to complete some assignments and she accepted my doctors note. Late assignments with doctors notes (not covid test) are accepted within 10 days of the missed assignment as explained clearly on the syllabus. Easy class!
This is my second time taking her, I love the content and the consistency of her class. Learned a lot and easy A!
Wow, I didn't know that there was so much to learn about gender! This course has opened my eyes! The course was well structured and easy to manage. Will take her again!
There were 1 or 2 assignments a week which were fairly easy. There was one 4-page paper, a couple one pagers, a couple discussion boards, and a couple of quizzes and activities through the online book. She posts all the rubrics for assignments so you always know how you'll be graded and there's an extra credit opportunity at the end of the course.
INTERESTING SUBJECT AND GOOD DEBATES. JUST WHAT I NEEDED IN A TEACHER AND A CLASS! THE SYLLABUS WAS ORGANIZED AND THERE WAS OPEN BOOK EXAMS AND EXTRA CREDIT.
Professor Reed is very quick to response to emails if you have any question. Once you complete all your work on time and follow instructions you will succeed in the class. I missed some materials and she was super nice to give us extra credit at the end of the course. :)
This class was actually very fun and interesting. There are 10 min. interesting videos per chapter you watch plus the PowerPoint for the week. I learned a lot from this course! Not too heavy of a work load. Ebook, although not needed to study, it is needed for the quizzes attached to it. Two extra credit options available for 50 pts each!
The professor has a negative attitude and is unhelpful when questions are asked. No work has been posted on Cengage, so I can't do the work. I have asked her where it may be found, but she has not yet replied. I do not recommend taking her class.
This course was pretty accessible and I appreciate that all the assignments in blackboard and on MindTap were available the first day of class to work on at your own pace. I never had to contact the professor as her course was easy to navigate after reading the syllabus. She also offered extra credit which was helpful when I missed points.
This was my second class with her. Her classes are consistent and she uses the same digital publisher for all of her classes. The class itself was informative and challenged my views. The professor was helpful and quickly responded to my emails. I got an "A" in both classes with her. Take her, you will not regret it!
She's super chill and will help if you need, just email her. She offers ample amounts of extra credit, its harder to get an F than it is to get an A. I wish I could have her for all my classes she made it super easy to learn. her blackboard is so organized and easy to follow as well.
very good proff. She uses a SACCA book, have a full week to do the assigned assignment. Really easy and light homework, took me 15 min a week. 1 Paper you have to write ( also extra credit paper if u want). Overall really easy proff
Very clear instructions of what you need to do for each assignment. This class was not stressful at all for being a ten week summer course, so I would recommend it. The final exam was ten questions and it said in the directions if you wanted an A just complete the number of questions needed to do so. There was an extra credit opportunity too.
Work is easy, but information presentation is confusing. Instructions are contradictory. I took most of my classes online, and I have never had problems understanding directions until now. The syllabus says she's strict, but asking for explanations on grading/to redo an assignment will get you a rude response. Would not recommend.
Overall, a pretty good course and the professor was cool! I like that all of the assignments and exams were available on the first day of class and you could work on them at your convenience until the due date.
The Race and Ethnic class was the highlight of my semester, the professor provided a respectful space for discussing sensitive topics. Her support fostered meaningful dialogue, helping me engage deeply with issues of race and privilege. I came away with a stronger sense of empathy and a commitment to social justice.
Amazing professor! Always provided great feedback. Light work load, a few exam questions which are easy if you just read the unit. Took her 8 week sociology class and was given extra credit opportunities twice.
Great professor! I highly recommend I took Soc1010 course, the class material was very interesting and easy to understand, also she responds to emails and givs good feedback
Very good, responded to emails. Would 100% take again and not proctored
One of the best professors I have ever had. Gives you multiple tries on assignments and extra credit. She reads your work and actually gives you positive feedback. The textbook she uses is also hers that she wrote, so she actually knows the material she is teaching. I loved this class.
Professor Reed is great instructor who availed all methods to help us through this semester. The quizzes and assignments are all quite easy to go along with as long as the chapters were read and understood. The sociology class was quite well organized, and informative. I would be grateful enrolling in any another class with her. Highly recommended!
Professor Reed is an excellent online instructor. Her class is very organized, her expectations are clear, and she gives helpful feedback. She responds quickly to emails and genuinely cares about her students. The workload is reasonable, and she makes sociology easy to understand. Highly recommend!
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CLASS. The syllabus and the directions are very confusing, misleading, and difficult to understand. She doesn't offer makeup on any assignments, no matter the circumstance or condition you're in. Emailing her to try to find a solution is not a good idea either; you'll just get a rude response, she doesn't care about y'all.
All in all, this was a great class! The course assignments and discussions were interesting. The assignments and exams were available the first day of class, extra credit was given twice, there was multiple takes on quizzes, and the final exam was optional. I definitely plan on taking her social problems class in the spring!
