She is a very nice lady. She is very positive and it is mandatory for you to attend class. She says that the tests are easy but as hard as hell!! SI Sessions can help a lil...but don't take her.. unless you want to have a C for the semester.

This is not an easy subject so dedicate the time an effort to read the chapters and understand her notes. A lot of students like to complain about the professor she does everything she can to make this as painless as possible. I am sure the bad reviews come from lazy students that want a grade handed to them. Take the in class section!

She is a great professor and I learned a lot in her class. It is a very difficult course but she is helpful and explains the material well. I highly recommend taking her. Her tests are hard but if you do the homework during the semester is easier to make an A.

Professor is better than other professor in the School of management, at least she tries to help student even though the course itself is a tough one. To get better marks a lot of effort is to be given to this course. But she tries to do her best as long as we try our best.

She is a great professor if you want to learn Accounting. Her lectures are clear and concise. You are a college student so be prepared to attend class and do homework. I would advise any accounting student to take her class if you want to study and earn an A.

Don't buy the book. Just read her power points and exam review and you'll be fine. She's very nice and her lectures have assisted me in my summer internship greatly. I recommend this teacher.

She is a wonderful professor. She gets the class engaged by writing down the notes with you. The class is very difficult, it's not the professor. You don't need the book. Test are straightforward. She doesn't try to trick you and she curves :] I should be receiving an A in the class. I'd definitely recommend.

Decent class and grade structure although the intense inflection in this professor's voice made it very hard for me to listen to the recorded lectures without turning down the volume. Material was good and grade composition was good as well, 3 tests and a few additional assignments.

You get out of her course what you put into it. It's not meant to be easy since it weeds out average accounting students. She teaches it perfectly, and cares about her students. Do the homework, and study, and you'll do well or you'll become a finance major. She gives you all the tools you need to get a good grade.

The class material was really tough, but if you put in enough work you will be really into it. It was really inspirational to me, and professor Bortz is an amazing lecturer. Really good in delivering the material. First test is crazily hard but it will be better by the next tests.

The subject is not easy, but she sets the guideline for what's needed to pass the course. There are 3 exams and 6 quizes (1 syllabus quiz). If you're struggling then attend the SI Sessions. I got a C on Exam 1, then started going to the SI Sessions and got an A on Exam 2 and B+ on Exam 3. She curves at the end of the course for about a letter grade

She's hands down one of the best professors i've ever had. She'll make you work for the grade but if you do, you'll enjoy it tremendously.

Professor Bortz is the best professor at UTD! She is there for you if you have any questions and she teaches one of the toughest courses most accounting undergrad students will have to take. She is super fabulous and if you put in the time of doing the homework, re-working packets, and studying the book you'll do great!

Tiffany is one of the greatest professors at UTD! However she teaches one of the hardest classes in the accounting program. The course work is intended to be a weed out class so you have to study to pass. I studied only her notes and the other handouts and made a strong A. Good luck!

Intermediate II is a tough beast. It's supposed to tell you whether you should stick to Accounting or switch to Marketing instead. Tiffany Bortz, one of the best professors at UT Dallas, does a wonderful job of explaining the concepts and showing how they work in practice problems. Look no further for a professor of Intermediate II.

This class is what is is but Professor Bortz is great and tries to make it bearable. She posts all lecture notes that you fill-in-the-blank during lecture & cuts the material focusing on ONLY the things you need and will be tested on. It is A LOT of material. Never opened textbook, recommend WileyPlus, MUST ATTEND CLASS to pass. TESTS ARE HARD.

This is a hard class, but Tiffany Bortz is a great professor. She sticks to the material, and gives many examples in class to make the concepts more understandable.

The material is not that interesting but she focuses on what you need to know the for test. If you understand the lectures then you will do fine on the tests. No trick questions on them either.

Good Teacher. Do the notes and understand them inside and out. She sometimes gives bonus points on random days so be sure to attend every class. I have a hard time paying attention in class but I studied the notes, reviewed the practice problems and did fine.

Excellent professor. Knew the material in and out, and answered questions solidly. Class I took was PPA only, so we had 3 exams (25% each), a mini exam (7.5%), and a group project case competition (17.5%) at the end of the semester. The way she lectured was one day she would teach only the notes, and the next class it would be practice problems.

Professor Bortz is the best. No doubt one of the best at UTD. I've yet to meet a professor that cares more about her students than her. Intermediate II is difficult no matter who teaches it, and she does a tremendous job. If she taught any other course, she'd be a 5.0 on here. I would have done better had my course load not been so heavy.

Professor Bortz is one of the best out there. Intermediate Accounting II is a challenging course and different from what we are used to but she made the course not just bearable and actually enjoyable. She simplifies concepts in a way that makes it understandable. Go to class, pay attention, work chapter problems, ask questions. Not impossible.

She's the best! Explains things so well. Her classes are split into one class where you take notes, followed by a class where you just practice what you learned last class. The way she teaches is so helpful and she really knows her stuff! would definitely take her. Test are weighted heavy and not many grades

This is a tough class no matter what, but Professor Bortz is great at teaching it. My advice? - Don't skip, notes aren't posted online - Work through the notes and lecture examples until they stick - Study as you go - Understand WHY you do what you do That's it. Do that and you'll be fine.

Professor Bortz is probably the best accounting prof I've ever had. She is extremely experienced in accounting and probably one of the best professors in JSOM. She is the most helpful prof I've ever had outside class, from everything to class work to recruitment help. Would highly recommend establishing a relationship with her!

She is by far one of my most favorite professors! Explains concepts really well, and challenges you to think through the concepts, not just memorize. She's doing an excellent job at preparing he students for the CPA exam. Highly recommend her!

This course is very difficult. She explains things very well and step by step. You have to go to class, because she will not post the notes on elearning. If you need any help, she's always willing to go over things again. Her course is very structured which helps a lot. Exams are very hard, final is cumulative.

Excellent teacher who speaks and teaches clearly during lectures. This class is definitely not easy; you have to make sure to study; don't put it off until the last minute because you won't do well that way. The material is a lot, after all. Quizzes, 1 group presentation, footnote discussion board post, and 3 exams (4th final one is cumulative).

No getting around it, the class is downright difficult, but Professor Bortz makes it doable. Her delivery is clear and concise. She hits on the most important sections of each chapter, and filters out the junk. Intermediate 2 has enormous amounts of material, but she does her best to streamline. Take notes, review, and trust yourself on the exams .

She is really nice and helpful. Really cares about her students. Does not give a review for exams. I only studied the lecture notes she gave. You have to study lecture notes and attend class to do well. Attendance is not mandatory though. Her tests are pretty hard tbh but studying lecture notes is the best way to study. Do not cram study!!!!!!!

Professor Bortz is great at teaching the materials needed. To achieve an A, you must attend and listen in class. Really study her lecture powerpoints and take advantage of all resources. Professor Bortz always answers my emails and helps answer all my questions , even if it's not accounting related. Very caring professor.

She loves to teach and she teaches real good giving you real world examples. I feel ready to work after taking her class. She also encourages you and makes a rather difficult class fun. She smiles and tells you you've got this and shows you how to make it through.

Her class is difficult but not impossible. You have to attend her lectures, actively pay attention, and take notes since she does not post the answers. You have to study and practice a lot to do well, but her class is very indicative of how you should also prepare for the CPA exams. Bortz is very understanding and will try to help you.

This was the hardest class I have ever taken, but I dont think that was the professors fault. There are not many assignments to give you a cushion for your grade if you do bad on an exam, so its crucial you study early and do the suggested textbook exercises. My only negative was that she didnt allow scratch paper during the Honorlock exams.

Prof Bortz is a great professor. Many reviews here are negative. I strongly believe it's because the material is hard, not cause the prof is bad. Her exams are fair. Nothing surprising. Study hard and know the material and you can do well. If you want to be an accountant, you need to learn this stuff. She explains things very well imo. Good luck.

This course is hard. I've been a fairly good student (3.8+ GPA) and I got a B-. There was a substantial curve added which means I should've gotten maybe a C. I just want to say this course isn't really an online type of class and suggest you take the exam in person. The professor is nice and caring though. She may seem strict but she truly cares.

I enjoyed taking ACCT3332 with professor Bortz. She is very responsive and willing to help students. Although I didnt receive the grade I had wanted I feel like I learned A LOT. Dont be afraid of this course and in the end everything will turn out well. The exams are tough and I do suggest you take the exams in person rather than online.

Prof. Bortz is very caring and very passionate about her job. Wants to help. No surprises on the exams. We were given optional weekly quizzes for extra credit. I got an A by studying the lecture notes, doing the example problems on the lecture notes and practice problems on the suggested HW. She curved grades quite a bit at the end. Great prof.

I really enjoyed taking Professor Bortz because her lectures were engaging, there were no surprises on the tests, and she offered lots of extra credit opportunities. It is a lot of work to stay on top of all the material, but if you know the class notes well, you should do well. This class is not as bad it seems from all the horror stories.

For me, this is the most difficult accounting class there is. That being said, I really appreciated Prof Bortz' method of going through lecture worksheets as I am a practical learner. She can cover topics quite quick so pay attention and try to keep up. 3 exams + cumulative final + group project. Very difficult class so work hard. You got this!

Amazing Prof she has a few big projects but gives plenty of time to complete them. The lectures are clear and easy.

The professor is knowlegable and nice but the class is very difficult. The extra credit that she gives helps a lot at the end so be aware of it from the beginning, and try not to miss any extra credit opportunity because it changes your grade significantly.

She is a very knowledgeable person. BUT this class is challenging. Most of the students either plan to retake it, or this was the second time they took this class. She is the best one to teach this class. But the material is too much. You need at least to spend 5 hours outside of the course.

Professor Bortz gives great lectures but this is probably one of the hardest classes I have taken at UTD. But because of how her grades are distributed, you can do poorly on most exams and still end up with a C because it's cushioned by projects, homework assignments, and bonus points. I would still recommend her though, it's good prep for CPA.

The professor is cool, and the way she teaches is easy to follow, but only when you actually go to class. Lots of things to do if you want to succeed in this class, but it's worth it. She offered a great amount of extra credit, use those opportunities well. Tests and projects are not easy, especially projects!

Content was tough but Professor Bortz used my favorite teaching style at UTD. 4 exams (in class), 1 cumulative final (in class), one group project (easy), one individual project (easy), no mandatory attendance. Make sure you attend every class and DO ALL THE BONUS! Do the lecture problems over and over again to get an A on the exams. TRUST ME

Her tests are long and hard, but she's a great teacher. She makes you excited to learn about accounting and explains the concepts thoroughly. Take advantage of her and the TA's office hours.

The class is a little hard but if you show up and do practice problems you'll do well. She also gave out extra credit throughout the year that boosted your grade by about 10% if you did them all. There is one individual project and one group project presentation and they aren't hard at all and she grades very leniently. Weekly hw, 4 tests, 1 final.

She goes over a plethora of examples and the homework is helpful to understand what we've just covered in class. You MUST prepare for additional hours of studying and review. It was different than Intermediate Financial Accounting I.

Professor Bortz is a good professor. Intermediate 2 will be difficult it is honestly the hardest accounting class and the professor will warn you on the first day. Study the notes and do the practice problems and you will do well.
