She has a strange method of teaching. She penalizes you for having an opinion other then hers. She teaches as though she is teaching elemenary kids. She created a strange learning environment.

Just checking back in. Today, in class, we watched a movie the entire period. I overheard people saying they were cold. I went to my car and got 7 jackets to give out, and when I did, HOLY CRAP! Ms. Parks got offended! She said she did not care that everyone was freezing. This alone should deter you from clicking her name when you register. DO NOT

The problem with Ms. Parks' class that I had was that the entire time I contemplated dropping because I thought I was failing. Turns out I was not failing, but Ms. Parks "can't tell you that" (Parks Everyday). The class is tough and she grades vigilantly, but you will get a C even if you fail 1 writing assignment and the Literary research essay.

i would not recommend her to anyone really. i don't think that she enjoys teaching at all and she takes it out in her grading and treatment of students. while yes i am passing her class she likes to make it extremely hard.

I am very disatisfied with this teacher. She is never happy to come to class and she sports an "I am better than you" attitude. I write my friends papers & get A's on all of them. He goes to state. I come to Park's class, & fail every paper I write. I write everyday & I know that I am a good writer. The kid with the highest grade is black & he doesnt try. Shes ****. I failed a paper bc I used the word "it". She cant spell or speak. She won't explain grades or assignments.

I would not take her. She does not grade papers correctly. The tutors think the paper is great, but she thinks it is a C paper.

I usually love writing and English but found Ms Parks to be a terrible teacher. She is very negative, refuses to explain what she wants in an assignment, and just takes the fun right out of English. She will drive you crazy with her "hand talking". GTC should drop this teacher or risk their good reputation as a top notch college.

Terrible teacher, when she receives your essay that she does not help you with, if she does not like the first paragraph she will not read the rest and then give you a poor grade.

The Worst Teacher i have ever had .....hands down

If you are already in Ms. Parks class, good luck. I doubt if she really even reads papers the way she grades. She basically grades your thesis and skims through the rest. She refuses to tell you what she expects from your work leaving you constantly dumbfounded. She is a horrible teacher and should not be mistaken for a mentor. Dodge this class!

Worst teacher I've ever had. Our entire class signed a petition to have her removed as a professor. DROP if you have her. I would change schools over taking a course taught by this women. I am a straight A student, & she could never explain her grades on essays. If you want to pass, do a formula 5 paragraph essay w/a formula thesis (A,B,C topics)!

she is very unclear as to what she wants to you to do on assignments and she is no help when it comes to finding out it is exactly that she wants you to do do so you can better your papers. it seems like she purposely finds something wrong in every paper, our class is on our 4th paper already, and yet NO ONE has received an A! thats just sad!

It is amazing to me that she has a job at Gwinnett Tech after all of the student complaints, overall low class averages, and excessive drop out rates in her classes! Obviously, it must be due to discrimination laws that keep her from being fired...she is by far the worst teacher I have ever had!

one time she tried to tell us that apples were grown in Washington D.C. as opposed to Washington state. really? shes a teacher????? D.C. is like 5 sqaure miles. I've been to D.C and never once saw any sprawling apple orchards

I would rather jab a hot needle in my eye than take another class with this professor. Our class started out with 30 students and at the midpoint we are down to just 9. Ms. Parks has no business teaching anyone, anything!

Ms. Parks is very lazy and misunderstanding in her directions. She will have you read, write papers and have other classmates review them. Her corrections are very harsh. She will tell you to correct something then forget what she told you, then mark it wrong again. She does not give you more than 5 minutes of her time.

Ms. Parks is passionate about what she teaches, but she's terrible at teaching it. She is a disorganized mess. Hybrids should consist of a clear cut syllabus & an online portion explaining what is expected.. She had *multiple* handouts and scraps of paper with vague assignments and no resources. You have no idea where you stand in her class.

She is the worst professor I have had at GTC. She was never prepared for class and had to spend time every week looking for the assignments. She was not consistent with her grading. She is not good at spelling and grammar. We never used the books we were required to buy. The class was useless. She would change assignments mid-way through class.

Ms. Parks has a curious way of teaching. If things are not done her way, you will receive a zero. She does not teach, only assigns assignments and essays. She lacks compassion and laughs in your face when you misunderstand. Please be aware, do not take this class with this teacher. You would only be setting yourself up for failure.

I attendened Ms. parks class once a week for three weeks before dropping it. She is not a teacher. There was no clairity in what she wanted you to do. I was confused most of my time there. She was very strict in her grading and did not give good feedback. I would not recommend anyone to take this class.

I cannot even describe the amount of frustration I have felt from taking this course with this instructor. I don't feel like I have learned anything, her advice for essays were not helpful and were extremely rushed. I do not feel like she spent any actual time giving helpful advice in class and on my final essay.

My 4.0 is gone after taking her class. I have never received anything but A's in English, I quite enjoy the subject.

As a writing tutor I help A students that want to preserve their 4.0 gpa, and Parks is too inconsistent on grading to be considered a fair teacher. It is frustrating for students to get 98 on one paper followed by 78 on the next. Lack of direction, poor feedback and an obsession with color is the most frequent complaints I here.

She is not a good teacher at all, i do not know why she is still there.

Do not take her. She is rude does not teach and fails everyone.

Need to focus more on other types of writing besides symbobolism. The entire course consisted of writing papers explaining symbolism in whatever we wrote or saw.

One of the worst teachers ever. Her versions of in class practice editing is taking the work of a student and deleting it all then re-writing with the class. No clear list of assignments that are actually supposed to be turned in online vs paper copy in class. will tell "to wordy" and tell you delete a lot of it, then say not enough information.

I love all my classes at gwinnett tech but this teacher drives me crazy. She is extremely unorganized, a lazy grader, and really annoying. Shes also very opinionated and close minded when it comes to other people sharing their essays and opinions. Very unclear! Do your assignments and essays exactly how she wants.. or better, don't take her class..

She is the worst instructor ever, example: me: i needed help, introduced myself, after long talk of almost 5 minuts, she said: i don't remember in which class you are. Don't expect any help. She wants works as she likes otherwise you will fail, will ask for your anaylsis but will not respect your ideas, makes you feel you know nothing.

Only take her if there is no one else available. She is very unorganized and an unclear grader. Essays have to be written her way, which means overly describing colors no matter the type of essay you are assigned (analytical or descriptive). I am a student who is dual enrolled in ENG-1101. She is the worst "teacher" I have ever been forced to sit in a room with. When I am in her class, I am worried about my future years in college because she is destroying everything I have learned over the past couple of years in my honors/AP lit classes. If you're good at working alone and completely alone your not able to ask her questions. she gives a syllabus at the begging of the semester with the entire schedule without detail which is what you're supposed to get all your answers from. so when you ask a question she says "did you read the instructions?"

I didn't necessarily have Ms. Parks for English 1101, but this lady is terrible. I heard ENGLISH PROFESSORS tell me not to take her. Ms. Parks was in the LSC today. Feedback on my 1101 essay was very unclear, she tried to suggest writing about something else when I CLEARLY STATED I liked it the way it was. I do not even bother with to take her class

She wants you to write an argumentative essay using anecdotes over scientific evidence. It's obv. she got her degree out of diligence over merit. If you're transferring to a school like GeorgiaTech, don't take Parks. I have a BS in Bio from GaTech back2school for a different degree here to save $. I got an A from Parks, but she spews backward info.

I can honestly say this is the worst instructor I have EVER had. Almost never clear with instructions, ridiculous grader, more unreliable than anyone I've ever met, never knows her own class schedule, works when she wants, NOT helpful. Her personality is phenomenal. She very friendly and welcoming, however, teaching is definitely not her calling.

Please choose another instructor. She is very nice nasty and very unclear with assignments and in general. The hardest literature class you will take. She is not interested in helping. Wow... I didn't know we weren't supposed to cite sources for the first essay. I don't think I got points taken off for it but dang. I just wanted to use something for an example. There wasn't exactly a rubric/examples for the essay. This is the first time I've failed an essay.

Listen to other people and don't take this professor. She takes off points for the smallest mistakes. I took English 1101 online. She expects students to read her mind, even when she didn't go over the format of the essay. If you're going to take off points, then at least go over it or at least put it in the rubric.

She did not explain things clearly at all. I had the most trouble with analysis, she told me analyze don't explain. For example: She wouldn't tell us how to say the color blue means sadness without explaining. She also made us rely on a tutor and then told us in the essays that it was wrong even thought the tutor said it was right. Do not take her!

She was the WORST. Only read and critiqued the first paragraph of my paper when I asked for advice then she would take off points for stuff she didn't recommend me to fix. She wants papers done ONE SPECIFIC way but won't tell you how. It is IMPOSSIBLE to pass her class with an A because she is so ridiculous about grading papers.

Took her online class in fall 2019. She said my organization for my essay is bad, my points weren't clear, took off so many points for small grammar mistakes, and told me I couldn't cite a source (I obviously didn't want to plagiarize) because she "never said you could cite a source." My current professor loves my writing style btw.

If 15+ people say the same thing, there's a reason why. She loves to hand out F's because students didn't follow the rubric or whatever, but she doesn't have clear grading criteria or a rubric. Most common reason is "your grammar is bad." I failed 2 essays and ended up dropping the class. I took the same class with another professor and made 94.

She is terrible, and takes point off for the smallest mistakes. She takes a million and one years to update the grade book. Her favorite words to say is " "look in the calendar'" and " you guys need to read". She is extremely picky. I once lost 22 points just because my paper wasn't in MLA format and I had some grammar mistakes. She is the WORST!!!

Like other person said, her favorite thing to say is "Check the rubric/calendar." It feels like she doesn't even know what's on the rubric/calendar but she still took points off. Unconstructively criticized my paper when I took it to the tutor they said it was fine w/ some minor grammar errors. I actively tell people to not take her

AVOID HER. She's the worst English professor I've ever had. I'm a decent writer and usually get B's and A's. Parks will grade you based on first two paragraphs, take it apart, and grade you based on that (usually an F). She doesn't even give constructive criticism or have a good rubric; it's just "your grammar is bad" or "your essay is off topic."

Whoever rated her highly on this page could possibly just got lucky becuase if she fail everybody it will make her look bad as a instructor. In fact, she did not do any job instructing people, nor any guidence provided. On her online class she just read a page of the instruction which was vague and unhelpful for anyone who is strive to improve.

She does not respect people, nor care about students. and she has very limited knowledge of teaching. She should really consider a different career. Her visual is very different from sometimes what she explains. Some people may do well with her pressure and what it is shes wants after multiple attempts to improve an assignment. No.

When someone gains power over others' lives or future, they can use it to empower others or use it to discourage people. It is especially important for an instructor to know the position is never stable if she or he is not a good mentor or instructor that keeps improving what she or he does. The consistency of years of bad reviews tells it all.

Run Fast.... Effective communication is crucial in any teaching profession, but sadly, this professor lacks the necessary skills to articulate ideas and explanations clearly. Furthermore, the professor frequently uses jargon without offering sufficient explanations or examples, assuming that students are already familiar with the terms.

Constructive feedback plays a pivotal role in guiding students' progress and development. However, this professor's feedback and assessment methods are woefully ineffective. Assignments are returned with minimal or vague comments, providing little guidance for improvement. She writes your comments in pencil with a first graders penmanship. Ugh!!!

She is a tough grader as well as insulting and completely unclear. She referred to me as an "Anxiety-ridden student" during class and was extremely unprofessional. Got an A but only because i dedicated SO much time to her class and i got it by the skin of my teeth.

Very tough grade. If you don't write your essays EXACTLY like how she likes, prepare to fail. Honestly should've known when I seen so few people registered. 😭

A very slow grader. You will not know your real grade until the last day of the semester. Very vague on directions and constantly bouncing around to different tasks before completing another task. The feedback is vague and not helpful for future papers. Would not recommend.

Absolutely horrible. I had an essay missing for at least a month and had to keep reminding her to grade it. She literally NEVER answers your emails unless you call her about it. I could've gotten an A in the class but she never answered my email or phone calls about 3 assignments she hadn't put in. Do NOT take her.

I will be dropping her class this week. I wish I had read her reviews on this site before taking her class. She's a terrible professor. You only get a passing grade if she likes how you write. I've NEVER gotten such low grades on essay assignments. She makes it very difficult and every review on this page is TRUE. RUN!! Do NOT take her class!!

Do not take this class!!!! She is the worst professor i have ever had. She does not help you when you ask. Not to mention she doesn't tell you what your assignments are she goes by a "calendar" but she switched due dates. She a mess. She will only pass you if she likes you.

She will grade your work at the very last minute and change assignment dates with a late notice. She is decent about answering her office phone for questions and clarification since her written feedback is bad.

just dont take her class wait til next semester for another teacher

Terrible teacher. She has no critical thought and wants you to write with a 6th grade reading level. Choose another teacher if you actually want to be challenged and enjoy writing.

Do not take her class. She is a harsh grader and when she gives you feedback it's very vague and difficult to understand.

Hi guys, Ms.Parks is not that great of a teacher. She grades harshly and doesn't give constructive feedback. She'll tell you what she doesn't like but not how to do better. She wants you to write how she would, she likes it to be her way or a F. If you can avoid taking her class, but if you have to - the tutors are your new best friends .

She's one of the worst teachers I've had. Her grading is inconsistent, and she acts unprofessionally during calls. The work isn't hard, but her feedback is confusing and contradicts itself. Get a tutor because you can't rely on her. PLEASE DON'T TAKE THIS TEACHER, ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE DOING IT FOR DUAL ENROLLMENT. SHE WILL RUIN YOUR LIFE

She doesn't read essays. has a analytical template she forces you to submit w/ every paper but she'll say you put things in template that you didn't put in paper, and you'll have to stay after class. She hates her job, in fact, she once told us "it's not my job to grade papers all day". She has a calendar online but is always changing the due dates
