Ill take her again next semester for whatever she teaches. She's funny & class is always interesting. Its a big class but she always tries to get us to participate. Her tests are really hard. You have to read the book! she doesn't teach the whole book. & even if she was terrible, just looking at her makes the subject interesting.
I would love to take any of her classes. Her class was very fun and i looked forward to class everyday. She doesnt have an attendance policy and doesnt care if you dont show up to class but everyday we had a packed lecture hall. We had many interesting dicussions in class about a vast majority of topics. I LOVED this class and would take it again.
She is a really good teacher. She makes sure that everthing is being understood. There isn't an attendance policy but her class will make you want to show up. As long as you turn in your writings and read the book you will pass.
Shes funny & yes hot but shes also super smart. everybody loves her class thats why everybody always comes to class eventhough there isnt a attendence policy. Oh and other guy, shell tell you where her statistics come from if you ask her. ive done it when i used something she said in a paper for another class.
Best prof.Ive ever had. She is a really good teacher, knows her subject and actually likes her students. She encourages us to have our own opinions rather than spout back her opinion to her. Shes a really hot and nice feminist. Apparently they do exist. Shes the first feminist Id actually want to date and I dont care that shes 10 yrs older than me
BEST TEACHER AT UWG! GREAT CLASS & LOVE HER! Must read the book, go to class and the writing center to get an A. You'll learn alot about our society. She's not easy. she'll help you anytime you ask. She makes horrible topics like racism fun. She's always happy - never in a bad mood. If your a dude-shes the prof youve been dreaming about
This class was easy if you did your project and you do your writings. The tests are mostly from the powerpoints. Reading def helps. The project is easy but don't wait till the last min to do. You ll look forward to coming to this class. It's fun and interesting. You may become a feminist though if you're not one already:)
HORRIBLE CLASS!!!!! She is a good person, but I do not agree with her teaching style at all! I made an A in this class, but I was not impressed at all with her.
She was the best professor I ever had. Everything was broken down to a level of understanding and she is willing to go the extra mile to help you.
GREAT prof! wish they were all like her. im not a fan of soci but she made class intersting and fun. its not an easy A but its not hard either. go to class, read the book, do the work, and youll get an A. and shes freakin HOT - she totally does look like a barbie.
Loved this class, and absolutely loved having Parsons she is my favorite professor I have ever had at West Georgia
GREAT! lectrue class but lively. never boring-funny, really knows the subject, & helpful but strict. unlike other profs-not in love with her own voice. she likes students to talk & brings guests. shes humble-has no idea how pretty & smart she is or that everybody luvs her. EX:last guest speaker-clearly enchanted by her. yet she doesnt believe it.
I took this class online. Mrs. Parsons requires alot out of her students and in our virtual classes she encouraged discussion. I would recommend this class online if you are comfortable with online classes. We had 4 1-page papers, 8-discussion posts, around 8-virtual classes, online quizzes and a Final. Take this class!!!
she is the best professor i ever had.if any one wants an easy A i suggest you take her.
class lively. she tends to pick favorites. class is kinda a big group disscussion. project at the end that you must do.
She was great to have. You have to abide by her guidelines and rules or else. She's strict in a sense but it's a good thing. There's a fieldwork assignment at the end and you need to do and don't bs it. She's a good teacher for Intro. to Sociology
She makes class very entertaining and i found myself wanting to go to class. However, it is NOT easy to pass, she grades based on 100 points. You have 5 quizes each worth 5 points and they are all or nothing. I failed one quiz so far and make 70 to 80 on her ONLINE 10 question tests and so i prob will end up with a C. :(
She's a really fun teacher and she makes class entertaining. Attendance is no required but she gives quizzes at random so its best to show up, and you have to read to pass them.
Great teacher! She is really fun and young so it's easy for her to relate to us. She doesn't like coming in on Fridays so she usually gives online classes. There are 4, 10 question online tests that take 10 minutes to take, but it you read and study they're pretty easy. The big participation project takes time, but wasn't terrible. I reccomend her.
Professor Parsons is very unique. While I loved her somedays and thought the class was easy, other days I despised her and hated the class. I ended up makeing a high A in the class, but the time allowed for the tests was a tad bit rediculous I believe.
I took her class online and she has no sympathy for a simple mistake. I had to drop her class, and I've never had to drop a class. First of all it was extremely boring and second of all she was not understanding at all. So, if you are not good at online classes, DON'T TAKE HER, because she has no sympathy for any mistakes!
Online...I can not say enough negative about her. She is not very helpful and very sarcastic. Not personable at all. I'd never take her again or recommend her to anyone.
she's awesome! very nice and cares about students. if you can't follow instructions then you're the idiot. for online you have to do a lot on your own. she's not going to hold your hand and spoon feed you the stuff. but she explains everything alot and if you ask for help she's super helpful. can't wait to take her in person in the fall.
Parsons is a great prof. maybe the best ive ever had at UWG. she loves the subject and teaching. she doesn't give extra credit or take late work etc, but if you do what you're supposed to she's not hard. I am changing my minor to women's studies because of her and the class.
Great teacher and great classroom topics!...take her, simply do her work and you'll Ace her class, it's not hard at all. Oh yea, and please read the text she assigns!
I would not recommend taking her online classes. It is obscene amounts of work, way more than would be needed in a face-to-face class. She gives vague directions on assignments and then loves taking off points for them. Way too much reading. Stupid narrated powerpoints and she even expects you to do one. Horrible, time consuming class. Stay away.
Learning Modules are very long. Must work hard to receive A, but it is possible. No work is accepted late!
Super easy! I took it online!! She communicates very well!!! Just make sure you actually do the reading and watch the videos!! All the material she gives you pertains to what you are doing!!!
Take this teacher if you honestly want to know how driven you are as a student. Professor Parsons is a great teacher who tells you what she expects from you as students at the beginning of the semester. She really loves Sociology and you can tell during her lectures.
She is a tough, but great professor. I took her hybrid class.. yes, there is a lot of work to do, but she gives plenty of time for the assignments to be done. She's very blunt and honest, and expects you to act and perform like a college student in her class. No late work. Great teacher - definitely reccomend her!
This ws my first class I took with Parsons and I must say it completely changed my lazy, just get by attitude. I have studied, read, and done my best to keep up with everything. I am taking her for 2 classes in Spring and now know that I can and will get an A in those. YOU WILL LEARN! Def recommend her!!!
i was totally struggling in the class and she did tons to help me. she was strict but very helpful. id take her again.
Awesome. Very clear about what to do and when. Everything very organized. Responds to emails fast. Not easy. Must watch all the videos and stuff. No late work.
Took the class online and it was a lot of work. More than my other online classes. As long as you do the work and pay attention you will pass. I believe her grading scale is more challenging than other teachers on her discussion questions.
She is rude, doesn't care about her online students! Wouldn't be understanding for an emergency! Tests were rough, I thought I made an A on the final just now, and it's it's a C!! Wow, thanks for not helping me so I can't go to school here anymore!!
She is a terrible professor and she gives a TON of work! Her quizes and tests are beyond difficult and do not think you will make more than a 90 on any assignment, she grades so difficult! Over my 3 years of college, she has been the worst professor ive come across. Just please make sure you have exhausted all other options before taking her!
The class was okay during the June session. But when we took quizzes we didnt get to see what we got wrong so on the final I thought I knew what I was doing, but I really didnt. I barely kept my "B" and I usually make good grades.
Do not take online!! She makes no exceptions what so ever. Greatbteacher I n class but has no heart online.
This class is very interesting, but Parson's makes it a nightmare. If you are even the slightest bit lazy DO NOT take her. I have always been an all A student and I had such a hard time. I had to do TONS of tutoring and extra credit to get the grade I got. Her online quizzes were HARD with a short timer. She is also very rude when she wants to be.
Difficult course. Took during summer semester. She gives you tons of work. One big issue is that she has everything closed. I mean that you can not see your next assignment until you complete the previous one. For example you cannot see your discussion post until you do the quiz. However they are due at the same time. Makes no sense! Stay clear!
Awesome teacher. Not easy, but interesting and you learn. don't use cell phones in class. she takes them away if she sees you. She's as not boring as possible in a core class. And, you do learn stuff.
She is not very helpful and very close-minded. Assignment overload. This class reminded me a lot of high school: people sharing personal stories, her teaching based off of her personal opinions and not facts, and busy work. I'd advise you to look into other teachers; they are much better and more professional.
Awful online professor. You literally have 15+ things to do each week. She will not communicate with you. Very difficult. Each week you have to watch films, read long chapters, listen to lectures, take critical thinking quizzes, self assessments, a quiz, and a interactive essay. On the exams you have less than a min. a question.
This has to be the hardest online class ever! I had no idea what she was looking for in the discussions even when I took her advice. Tests are tough but the assignments are fun. I liked the material but I wish I did better in the class. I wouldn't recommend her to anyone.
Hard but good
She is a difficult grader. I normally keep all A's but this course no matter how hard you try it seems like you're never good enough. She does not give you enough time on the test. You barely have time to read through each question. Also has test set during the day therefore if you work, good luck to you!
I was weary of taking her class at first due to her ratings on here, but decided to take a chance on her, and thank god I did. Prof Parsons has become one of my favorite profs after this semester. She's funny and super laid back. Yeah, you have to put forth some effort for your grade, but it's super manageable considering most of the work is online
Parsons requires a lot of students for her visual sociology class. Difficult reading quizzes, lots of homework assignments, papers, and projects can be expected. This is definitely not an "easy elective". If you're not an ultra-feminist liberal, better pretend to be one. Not an objective grader.
DO. NOT. TAKE. She is not fair in her grading. You have to write papers and learning recaps for every chapter and I'm normally an A student, but she told me that I only write "B and C" papers. She wouldn't tell me how to improve either. She does not work with you if you're a working student. AWFUL at communication.
Many ppl complain about parsons' class, but she is not a hard professor. She JUST GIVES OUT A LOT OF WORK. IF you're not ready for this workload, do not take her class. However, she was a good professor and the info she gave us was very interesting. Only take parsons if you are ready for a challenge. If not, don't. This class was hard.
Class started out to be interesting and fun but ended up being stressful, somewhat of an overload, and the professor never actually taught any material. She expected us to read and automatically understand everything.
Gives a lot of grades out which makes it easier for you to get a higher grade. Make sure you read the readings before class and that you attend class (graded work everyday). test are online which can be a good or bad thing depending on you. she barely teaches and we do group work. (be smart when you pick your group! grade depends on it).i recommend
Very sarcastic, assigns very long readings and lots of it. Be prepared to work in groups for the entire year. NEVER miss class because you have about four in class assignments for grades everyday that you can't make up. Work is hard and confusing and so are tests. Never be late and don't use technology in class. Tests are online though!
Prepare to work in a group the ENTIRE semester. She is not clear on guidelines for discussions or presentations.
Definitely made the wrong decision when taking this class. She is sarcastic and rude. Always always working in groups which in my opinion is terrible. Presentations!! Was not clear when these were. DO NOT BE BLINDSIDED. Grades very harshly. Pretty cool woman, absolutely terrible teacher. Stay on top of your work in courseden, she does not help you.
Tests are confusing and theres pretty much no way to make an A unless this is your only class for the entire semester. Wouldn't take her again ever.
Though many have said they don't like Parsons's, I truly enjoyed having her class. The key is to actually form a relationship with her. Let her know that you care about this class and your grade.
This is by far the worst class I have ever taken. She expects so much from you. We basically had to teach ourselves by reading chapters out of the book every night and taking online assignments. When we went in class we automatically had a quiz over what we were required to read that night. She was very mean.
She doesn't even teach. She separates everyone into groups, assign each group a chapter and they teach EACH OTHER! She's super lazy when it comes to teaching. She runs a homeless shelter so you're not her top priority, at all. She doesn't really remember the material she gives you because she's been using it for several semesters without revision
She waited until the last week of the semester to grade everything, so no one knew their true grade until then. Wasn't very clear with expectations. EVERYTHING IS STRAIGHT out of the book. We had these dumb group matching assignments that weighed more than the tests and quizzes. She was never in her office during office hours. She can be rude.
Professor Parsons is great at lecturing. Attendance is not mandatory but highly recommended. The amount of work she gives for an Intro class is overbearing and very challenging. The only way to pass is to do all of the busy work which is awfully stressful.
She never respond to her emails until the last day of class, makes you teach yourself, test is opposite from what's in the book. She legit rude. I've been at school for 3 years now, and she has to be the rudest teacher ever. She will make you feel dumb, even if you're super nice. Don't take her. Anyone else would be better than her. Drop the class
Do not take Parsons. You pretty much teach yourself. Her instructions are not really clear, and she told a group they were going to fail after their presentation IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE CLASS. 10/10 would NOT recommend.
Parson is a great teacher with a great sense of humor. She knows the subject better than any professor I've had! She's fair but not an easy A. You actually have to do the reading and go to class. If you're a slacker, don't take her. If you're a decent student and want a cool class, take her.
I don't like professors that make groups of students teach the chapters. I feel kind of cheated and like she didn't do any actual teaching. I eventually withdrew. She's also kind of rude.
She makes you work for your grade but also provided a great extra credit option for our class. She is sarcastic but she really knows what she is talking about. Read the book and keep up with the syllabus and if given do the extra credit and you should end the class with an A. Really enjoyed the class simply because she was the one who taught it.
I have taken her for two online classes and a class in person. She is so frustrating and forget taking any other classes or having a life outside this class, we have a ton of things due during the week and weekend. She keeps up with her online classes grades but in the face to face class we didn't get any grades till the end of the semester.
Wants one thing & one thing only. If you deviate from that one thing even by a fraction, its an immediate D grade. She has pop quizzes for movies & the answers she wants have NOTHING to do with the lecture (Ex: we were talking about Race issues & she wanted me to talk about the track team winning in a movie. Ridiculous). Grading is purely opinion
Parsons gives a lot of work but as long as you get it done then you should be fine. Be sure to watch all videos or movies she assigns you to watch because she will most likely give you a pop quiz over it. Shes great at giving lectures! She makes them fun and entertaining. As long as you study and do all your work, you should be able to make an A!
The class isn't easy but not hard. Do the reading, watch the videos, go to class and you'll pass. She makes class time enjoyable. She's funny. She gives extra credit but its more reading and writing.
If you use the bathroom in her class she will deduct points from your final grade. Cell phones must not be visible. You will receive a lot of homework and pop quizzes. she also had a really bad attitude.
She is very strict and tends to be extremely snarky.
She is flat out rude.
She gives SO MANY ASSIGNMENTS! She's so rude and aggravating. She will not let you leave her class early and if you get up to use the bathroom or have your phone out she will deduct points from your final grade. SO glad I'm done with her class.
Worst professor I have ever had.
She is the worst professor at the University of West Georgia.
She is so disrespectful. Ive been to her office to talk about my grades and she was just flat out rude.
She is one of my all time favorite professors. She makes lectures fun and she is actually a very kind lady, please dont be fooled by these one star reviews I highly recommend taking her class.
She teaches middle school and college so she treats her college students like children. You cannot use the bathroom in her class unless you are pregnant or have a bladder problem. Thats literally insane. She is soooooo rude like seriously rude. Very sarcastic. The class itself is fine and interesting but please take another professor. Trust me.
Shes okay I guess. I know a lot of students who didnt like her and didnt get along with her. It honestly just depends on the student. My personal experience was not the best. I honestly just didnt care for her attitude. But she definitely knows her stuff as far as the course. She does five a lot of pop quizzes so make sure you pay attention
Do not take this professor, I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE IT. She gives you a lot of assignments due in a short amount of time and the papers we do in class are so confusing. You can't miss any class. Also, you can't be on your phone, go to the bathroom, or pack up your things until she dismisses you.
The class itself is very work heavy, she gives a ton of work and says that she wants you to be successful in all of your other classes (no she doesn't because if she did she would not give the work load that she does). She is very sarcastic and rude to everyone! She tries to play nice! She doesn't allow anyone to be on their phone(POINTS OFF!!)
For the amount of classwork, the tests do not cover the material well enough. There are papers at least every week.
Addressing others' comments: She's not rude; she calls you out on your crap and dumb questions, that she probably already answered. Also, she gives so much extra credit that you have to work hard to fail this class. She isn't an easy A, though, if that's what you think makes a good professor. You have to actually read and learn stuff to pass.
Amazing. She cares about you as an actual person, not just as a student. Not an easy A though She actually cares if you learn stuff.. You have to go to class and read the book to pass the tests and assignments. The bad reviews are students who want an A for doing/learning nothing. I've learned more in her class than 10 others combines.
Best teacher - actual teacher - I've had a UWG. Wish i was a sociology major so I could taker her again. Yes, you have to actually do the work, but she lets you turn it in early for feedback and it's almost impossible to fail because of the extra points. Every business, nursing, and edu major shoud have to take sociology by her.
This professor is honestly good , her class requires a lot of discipline and work . If your a lazy student dont take her because you will fail. She does give a lot of assignments, but if you do as she says you will get a 100 on each one . Attendance is necessary , and GET THE TEXTBOOK! Take her extra credit opportunities she gives out a lot!
The worst class Ive taken so far. She gave me a 0 on a writing assignment because I didnt cite 4 SENTENCES correctly. She is a VERY harsh grader and her instructions are sometimes unclear. Its also difficult to find things on her course den. I would definitely consider a different professor
This class has a lot of work for an intro class, she is very lecture heavy and will expect you to be able to keep up with her. She requires a textbook, I didn't read it, but you will need to cite it in your papers. She is a tough grader and will take off 10 points for not underlining terms. She also gives a lot of extra credit opportunities.
She gives a lot of extra credit opportunities including bookclub and SI. It is a lot of work for an Intro class.
Her instructions are so confusing and precise that they are ridiculous. I wish she would look at the way other professors use courseden. There is no reason to make it as difficult as she does. I will say that she gives lots of extra credit opportunities but the instructions are so crazy that you will eventually give up. She needs to simplify things
Take any other professor except her if you can
Shes probably the worst teacher at university of west ga.
I did receive a B in her class which is okay I guess but I honestly dont even care about the work load. Her personality is what grinds my gears. My classmate got in trouble for getting up to use the bathroom during lecture and they sat in the very back so they didnt even disrupt the class. I just really dont like her at all.
I wouldnt take this teacher if it was the last class I needed to graduate. She is very unprofessional and rude. Her directions for assignments are unclear and she gives so much work before you even get to graded assignments. Her personality is not friendly at all. I emailed several times regarding class work and ended up withdrawing. Would rate 0
I would stay away if you can.
Do not take her she is the worst teacher to take for a sociology class. If you want to enjoy sociology find someone else she will make you hate the subject. I DO NOT like this lady she stressed me out and messed with my anxiety. Would not recommend her as a professor.
Professor Parsons is extremely rude. I was on one of her online classes and had emailed her a question. She was very unprofessional upon responding. She makes sociology no fun. She doesn't grade to help you learn, she grades based off of her needs and gives little-no feedback. Would not recommend.
I was assigned to her through eCore online this Summer semester. She's pretty nice and good. If you require a lot of one-on-one with the teacher, you most likely will not like any online course. There is no room for procrastination. I would suggest taking her if you can handle her high expectations.
If you are not a sociology major beware!!! Took this class to fill an elective and it was more work than my Microbiology and Physiology classes combined!
She gives work as if this is the only class students are taking. Really considered withdrawing so many times, unfortunately I can't because I need the credit. If you don't have to, don't take this class. I have a whole different view on sociology now there's no fun in it anymore.
Professor Parsons gives way too much homework for an introduction class. I do not recommend taking this class to anyone who is considering it. You will have hours of lecture videos, notes, and two weekly assignments every single week. It feels like I am taking a sociology class for sociology majors, not an introduction class. Do not take this class
She literally sucks, and I've never complained about a professor. I am a senior so that says a lot. Her grading style is ridiculous and literally everyone at WestGa agrees. Anyone can be a the president of the USA apparently, just as anyone can apparently become a professor. This does not mean that they should. If you are taking her drop it!!!
HERE IS YOUR WARNING!!! DO NOT TAKE DR. PARSONS. It's not just the information that is difficult it's the way she sets up the course. Everything in this class is set up to make it the most difficult. I have always been an A/B student through college and I'm potentially going to fail this class! Please take this as your sign to drop it stay or away!
Tiffany Parsons is the epitome of a terrible professor. Its not even the fact that the work is hard she just assigns a TON of it and she sets the class up in a way that makes it impossible to succeed. I had covid and she would not let me make up assignments and was extremely unfair when it came to grading. TAKE ANYONE BUT HER PLEASE.
If you ease by your classes. PLEASE DONT TAKE HER. The workload is TREMENDOUS and if you miss one assignment then yikes. She assigns a lot of work and papers (weekly). If you stress over school, This will send you overboard. Shes nice but not really lenient (can be under certain circumstances). Grading is non-traditional. You will learn. Buy book!
Lots of lecture videos and other related videos throughout every week. Big work with a lot of class discussions. Despite all of this, Professor Parsons is very clear in explaining the material. Staying on top of her lectures & assignments are tough, but very much do-able. She is very understanding and super nice!
She'll make you hate your life & hate her. The course structure is impossible to navigate & her expectations with assignments are unreasonable. I've never complained about a professor to family & friends as I have her. I need one more class to graduate but literally just dropped hers because that's how awful she is. Please rethink taking her & RUN!
She's a very sweet lady don't get me wrong. You can tell that she actually cares and enjoys her job. BUT, the format and the amount of work given in this class are unreasonable. It's almost like she treats her class like It's the only one I'm taking. I wouldn't recommend it if struggling with your mental health, it is seriously overwhelming.
If you do not like to read or have to turn in 3-4 assignments in one day by noon, do not take this course with her. She grades hard and you will see your grade go from an A to a low B in a heartbeat. Also she isn't the best with emailing back. Just avoid if you are trying to have a stress free semester for any of her courses.
Parsons is a tough grader but she gives you all the necessary material to pass her course. Shes also always available for help and provides great feedback. Its important to watch and read all the required material or you wont get do well on the discussions, tests, & writing assignments. However, I learned a lot from her class.
If you try at all in her class, you cannot fail. Read and watch some lectures and you'll at least get a C. She also doesn't close assignment dropboxes until she grades the reports so you can submit late without any points off. Making an A in her class takes more than the basics but its not hard and shes super helpful if you need it.
best teacher I've ever had! i learned more in her one class than in 7 others combined. her lectures are great, she's very available for help, her feedback lets you know exactly what to do next time to get a higher grade. I'll take every class she teaches.
BEST professor ever. Turn in reports late, ok. Struggling, just text and shell help. Watch the lectures - theyre on the test but also they help you understand the reading. I fell in love w/ sociology this semester & I only took the class to fill core. Ive never had an online class where I felt I was part of a real class & knew the prof.
I was worried about taking sociology but Dr. Parsons made it easy! She cares about her students and is open to the opinions of others, she also gives you help when you ask and will explain things more thoroughly if you need it.
Professor Parsons is one of the best teachers I've had. She is challenging but always available to help. There are a variety of assignments, grading is clear and she drops the lowest grade. You will be challenged but will learn a lot!
DON'T! I am taking her in the summer and she has given me horrible grades although I did the assignments. She restricted access to assignments because I did not have a profile picture on my courseden. I emailed her about an assignment and she was very disrespectful in her response. I need one class to graduate and now have to take a fall class.
Best professor Ive ever had! So nice and she was so inspiring!
Dr. Parsons gives a great lecture. She has high expectations/requires that you work in a group on multiple class assignments. Approachable if you have trouble/ just want to chat. She offers multiple extra credit opportunities. Uses the textbook, but not directly. Attendance is a must and note taking is seriously suggested. Also, READ THE SYLLABUS!
Make sure you attempt the self-assessments multiple times, these are questions on test. Make SURE you post on time and respond to several classmates. YOU MUST then respond back and forth several times to get credit. Her discussions need to contain references to content learned. Feedback is given and professor is easy to contact. Great professor
The class is very disorganized and confusing. She also makes everyone upload a photo of themselves which I feel is probably discrimination. With a photo, she can see who is black and who isn't and probably gives out grades based on that.If you have another option definitely take it and if you don't definitely wait until you do!!You have been warned!
Requires an upload of a picture, reasoning is clearly explained that it's proven we treat people better if we can see their faces; ignore what the previous review of this class stated. Fair grader, but be prepared to follow her rubrics closely. Content is easily understandable, lectures + activities are engaging and informative. Take notes!
This professor is not very good at providing clear feedback on what has gone wrong in specific assignments. There are clear discrepancies in her grading, especially with her module requirements. It is insane to knock 25 points off for one missing thing. I've tried my best and hope never to take her classes ever again, good luck!
I have taken Dr. Parsons for multiple classes now, but most importantly her intro class. A lot of people consider her a very difficult professor. She wants you to WORK but if you follow her directions and actually try you can guarantee an A in this class. Use your resources and your brain. Don't just sit around waiting for your degree, work for it.
Her teaching style is very interactive and engaging, one of the only lecturers I never got bored of. There are a lot of assignments to keep up with but all laid out in the syllabus so easy to keep track. She is pretty lenient with grading and drops your lowest test score. Easy A
This is an amazing instructor!
Professor parsons is an extremely tough grader. She intentionally makes things hard for you. She will give a zero on the whole assignment if you miss anything in your assignment (can simply be to you not understanding) regardless of if you turned it in or not. She is extremely picky on ALL assignments. Feedback is provided fast which is good.
She was nice, but it was a good bit of work. The class was only 18 days, which is why it felt like a lot of work. She was really nice and the material was easy to understand.
Exam questions are intentionally tricky and much of it isn't even covered in the course. Her lectures are daunting, she goes on tangents, and the lecture could be cut down if she just stayed on track. One of her grading criteria for a lengthy paper was, "Dr.P got bored and didn't feel like reading the rest."
Great professor with an engaging teaching style. Challenging but fair grading. Use resources like Unstuckstudy and the textbook to succeed. Attend class and take notes.
Everything was great until the full moon. During the lecture on global inequality and GNP, Professor Parsons suddenly started howling and climbed on top of her desk. I thought it was a metaphor for the market, but no—actual werewolf. Still gave us an extension on our essays, though. I mean I guess that's out of her control?
Two discussions a week while also having to reply to two people for each discussion. Will tell you that this is an elective course but then says she grades it like an english course. Will put you into groups to do online work but then your classmates do not participate until last second so you are screwed.
Professor Parsons is a good professor. I took her sociology of race course and you can tell she cares and truly wants everyone to learn the material. With that being said, she does not put up with any B.S. with grading. You need to follow the requirements of every assignment to a T and actually put in effort to get a good grade. You cannot skim by.
Get ready for alot of work and quizzes that don't count towards your grade. There is a proctored exam. Lots of films to watch and synthesize on top of all the other work she has you doing. You are truly going to work hard and them some for your grad in this class. You can't do all your work at once, it has to be done on separate days.
