She makes a really easy grading curve, makes the final super easy, and her tests are not that hard. I did not study for one test, did not do any homework, and i still pulled off a high C for the class. Pretty good for not doing anything.
Tiffany is awesome! She is suer clear about what she wants and will help you whenever you need it. Gives one on one attention and explains things in easy to understand ways. Quizzes and tests are pretty simple, she goes over the material before you take them. Just go to all the labs, hand in all the work and do any extra credit.
Tiffany really is just a really cool person. Gives a lot of extra credit and if you care at all about the class, and put in the effort, you will do just fine. She grades on a curve and is really laid back and not at all difficult like some professors can be. Overall a very interesting class, I care more about physics now than I ever have before.
Tiffany is awesome. I advise anyone to take any class she teaches. She is really not like any other professor's at BSU. Really down to earth. Very interesting class, and a very laid back teaching style. I am telling you, take her class!
Tiffany is a great teacher. She is approachable and very helpful. I would highly recommend taking a class from her.
I really enjoyed PHYS104 & I'm an audiology major! She is very clear, & although the material can be difficult she explains very well. She gives virtually no homework & her tests make sense. She's very approachable & very down-to-earth. The class was cake -- not because it was easy material, but because she's a FANTASTIC teacher! TAKE THIS CLASS!
She is the best professor.
She is awesome! She is very down to earth, gives plenty of chances for extra credit and is VERY clear about what she expects you to know on tests. On top of that she curves grades. She made it easy to get an A if you want to!
Read the book. Pay attention to lecture. Interact in class. Ask questions. Do the extra credit. You will get an A. Tiffany is awesome and passionate about physics. I'm not saying the class is super easy (there is work) but you would have to be brain dead to no pass this class. She gives you every opportunity to improve your grade. Highly Recommende
If your need help just ask for it and she'll do whatever she can to help you understand it. Also read your book, her slides and do your packets and you'll be just fine in her class :)
This class isn't as easy as described. She speaks clearly to people who are knowledgeable about stars and cosmology. However for most people, the info is hard to grasp. Her test averages for the entire class have been in the C or D range this semester, after she curves it! I've got a B in there right now, but that's only because of the lab.
She is able to get the subject matter across in a clear and precise manner...I have noticed those whom complain are the ones which have not read the material before hand...I currently have around a 98%...with little study, due to Professor Watkins' teaching style...Thank you!
She is very nice and willing to help you with whatever you need. She is more than willing to work with you on a very complicated subject. Fairly easy to pass I recommend going to class and reading the book. She's hot anyway so it shouldn't be that bad...
I thought I was going to fail this class about 3/4 through but she understands most students are taking this for an Area III and not continuing on. Even though I failed a test and activity points, b/c of her EC I got an A in the class. She works hard to help you pass. My only neg is she doesn't use study guides, but she does a solid pre-test review
I appreciated that she wanted to make sure that everyone understood the material. She also gives plenty of extra credit opportunitie.
She is great
Fantastic lab instructor!
BEST. TEACHER. EVER. If I could take her for every science class from here on out I would. Even when I defied physics, she helped me figure out how the real world works. The woman wears some crazy outfits which makes you pay even more attention to her, even just because she looks colorful. She knows what she's talking about. Still the best.
I had Tiffany for two lab courses. Both times, the lab manuals were confusing and hard to understand at best. However, she was willing and able to explain difficult concepts and kept us from electrocuting ourselves. She's a fantastic teacher and I would highly suggest taking labs or other physics courses from her.
Tiffany is super great. She tries really hard to get to know the names of as many students as possible--which is a big deal in a lecture hall. Do all the extra credit, do the homework, and use the website to study for tests and you'll do fine. Her tests can be tough, but the easiness of everything else balances it out.
Awesome teacher. Really tries to get to know the students, which is hard in a lecture of 100+ students. She was pregnant when I had her but she tried her hardest to be at class.
Awesome Professor! Go to class for activity points. 4 exams, and 1 final. 1 test is dropped if activity points are higher. Labs do not have tests and are pretty easy if you have a smart group. TONS of extra credit opportunities and she is always available for help! Would take her again in a heartbeat! SHE'S AWESOME!!!!!
Tiffany is great and makes the class interesting. Definitely take her class if you can, I would suggest taking her lab too.
Tiffany is a great professor! I was not looking forward to this class at at, but she has made it much better! She is very clear and fair! Easy A if you do the homework, study for the tests, go to labs and ask questions! she is always willing to help and work with you!
She makes her tests too hard and wants you to memorize things that are not important. The class averages a D on tests, then she will curve it up to a C, but if you want to do extra credit you can get a good grade.
She is an awesome person and awesome teacher. She explains difficult stuff very well. Look no one really cares for physics but she makes it pretty cool. Tests your going to have to study. She offers extra credit though. Curves tests too. Read book--it helps. You need to go to class to grasp this stuff.
Very energetic delivery of information. If you are interested in the universe you will do well in Tiffany's class. Do all the labs you can and all the extra credit you can! The tests are tough.
Go to class, do all of the assignments and do the extra credit and you will get an A. Not an easy subject but Tiffany makes it fun. She is great. I hate science but I loved her class.
Tiffany is awesome! She makes a not so interesting subject barable. She also explains hard concepts very well! Study for tests, do assignments, go to all labs, and do extra credit and it will be an easy A!
I personally struggle with physics, but Tiffany is the most helpful teacher I have had at Boise State. Although her class is somewhat difficult, she will set aside time to help you on whatever you need. Highly recommend.
Tiffany does a great job explaining course material in a way that is easy to understand. I have seen some reviews that claim that her test averages are in the C range, after a curve. This is probably true, however I rarely saw more than 3/4 of the class show up. If you go to class and the labs and do her study guides, you will get an A or B.
Great teacher! Makes things interesting and uses humor.
There is a lot of material and the content is hard but She does an amazing job of making it understandable. She gave amazing study guides before tests! Do the work and show up for class. She gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit and in class participation. Even if you fail tests you'll still pass!
Tiffany Watkins is more that fair, she gives you every chance to pass. Tests are tough, but go to every class, do every lab, and do all the homework. You will pass this class, there is also drop in help sessions.
Tiffany was very helpful and gave every opportunity to pass the class. She gave out extra credit and had plenty of chances to earn it. If you go to class and to the labs you will do fine. The tests are kind of tough but the final is half cumulative and you can study the old tests.
She takes a 150 student lecture hall and turns it into a community. She lets students ask questions and sometimes gets carried away (in a good way) with exciting topics. She is always asking of you to ask questions and come to her for help. I know her outside of class and she is extremely involved on campus and is an example of the best at BSU.
Fairly easy class if you show up, listen and pay attention. She gave us 4 tests and a final. The tests were over the material clearly stated in lecture and in the homework. So if you want to pass the test, do your homework and show up to class. She did a sign in for points randomly and dropped lowest test according to attendance points.
Tiffany is one of the greatest professors that I've had on campus in the 4 years that I've been going to school. She really wants to make sure you understand the material and that you get the grade you deserve. Physics is a hard subject, but she at least makes it fair with the curves and extra credit you can earn with learning something more.
Tiffany is a very fair professor. She's well aware this this is a difficult subject, so she does her best to make it more approachable. That being said, her homework and exams are no walk in the park, so do your homework and study. She curves exams and offers almost half a letter grade in extra credit. Take Tiffany instead of Olson for PHYS 111 :)
She really cares about the students and is passionate about the subject.
The grading criteria includes homework, four exams, and participation. You can drop one of them because each is worth 20%. If you don't ever show up participation is dropped. If you don't ever do the homework, it's dropped. The homework can take from 1-5 hours a week depending on comprehension and math skills. She's an excellent instructor.
Tiffany is a phenomenal teacher. I was really scared about physics, but she makes it interactive and explains the concepts really well. She allows a notecard for the tests, but they are minimally helpful. While her tests are a little hard, she is a fair grader. I would take a class that she taught if given the chance.
Lackluster for a physics teacher. Equated Euclidean space with a Euclidean plane, and in fact calls any conventional terminology wrong if it doesn't conform to her own subjective word usage (even if its in truth, synonymous). She also becomes irritated much of the time when you genuinely ask physics questions relevant to the lecture topic.
I did not enjoy this class. I took physics in High School and I loved it, but I absolutely hated it in college. This class is not fun. All you do is go class 2 times a week and are lectured to( mostly off topic, and about stuff she teaches in other classes) The class is really long and she is not good at explaining things. TESTS ARE REALLY HARD!
This was my most entertaining science class ever. My only saving grace is that I had high participation and I did well on my homework. Tests were tough, my highest test score was a 64%.
When it comes to lab, Tiffany doesn't want to read a giant stack of lab reports and she knows that we don't want to write individual lab reports, so there are no individual lab reports, only short group reports that are due by the end of lab. Tiffany also finds the perfect balance of babying you through the material and letting you figure it out.
If you have any opportunity to take a class from this brilliant mind, absolutely do. She is probably the most down to earth professor I have worked with in my college career. Phenomenal, will work with you no matter what, she inspires and empowers you. Her extra credit opportunities are life changers not just work sheets. Take her class
Best teacher ever.
She is an awesome professor. Her lectures are clear, and she's always enthusiastic about what she's teaching. She wants to make sure you understand the material, and is always open for questions. As long as you do the work, you shouldn't have trouble passing because she does such a great job.
Tiffany is a down to earth professor who knows what she wants in students and expects highly of them. She keeps lectures pretty engaging, but also expects you to learn a lot from the MasteringAstronomy homework. Extra credit is offered multiple times throughout the semester, usually with a 1-2 page reflection. DO IT. Can be seen outside of class
The lectures move very quickly and give little time for further in class exploration of topics. Limited office hours. Overall it was an okay class, however the tests were difficult and in the testing center.
I'm not one for science, but Tiffany made cosmology bearable. The lectures were a little dull and she went WAY too fast when giving the lectures. However, the homework wasn't too bad as long as you pay attention and have a friend to work on them with you. the grading is a little weird but there are many opportunites for extra credit.
Tiffany was a great professor! She was always more than willing to help students in or outside of class. Physics is a hard subject but she broke it down to make it easier for students to learn. She always had time for questions. Boise State should be proud of her.
Reads off PowerPoint slides and moves very quickly. Doesn't provide much help on the homework that is due until after the due date is here or has passed and is not articulate. Examples on homework are also not given in the textbook or in the lecture. Online tutorials for homework help and studying for tests is a must. Would not recommend Tiffany.
She did a lot of examples of homework problems in class so it was usually pretty easy to get through.
Lectures 1-2 chapters ahead of the chapters you will be tested on.
Tiffany was great. I had for Physics 211 and she was super nice, easy to meet with outside of class, and very helpful. I did not get a textbook for this class, and I didn't need it either. General physics course, as long as you complete the homeworks, show up to class and get participation, and study for exams, you will be just fine.
The class is very straightforward. The exams are easy if you know how to use the formula sheet. She provides up to 3% extra credit. I appreciate how she answers any homework questions at the beginning of class. She does a great job of explaining concepts but you need to do review problems to be prepared for exam. A few problems carry over usually
Explains topics very well. Exams are easy enough if you study and pay attention in class. You're allowed a formula sheet but you need to know how to use it. The PHYS211 textbook is awful but she posts all her lecture powerpoints so it's not the end of the world.
Tiffany is a solid professor, her lectures are easy to follow and she does a ton of example problems in class, and will spend 20 minutes before each class to answer any hmwk questions. She cares for her students and truly wants us to learn the material. I really appreciated her many extra credit opportunities as well (up to 3% of you total grade).
Tiffany was INCREDIBLE. I truly believe she could teach phsyics to toddlers, she's that good. She has high expectations, but she wants you to succeed and is so willing to help you.
She is very kind and will answer every question you ask. She does a lot of example problems during lecture which really help you on the homework and exams. Attendance is worth a lot of points.
I'm in Tiffany's class now. I needed it for a pre-req so I wasn't too excited about it, but I LOVE THIS CLASS. She is an EXCELLENT teacher. She's done a great job teaching during a pandemic. The only way you'd fail this class is if you really don't try. She gives her students every opportunity to succeed.
Epic teacher. You are not going to be given a good grade for nothing yet there is nothing hidden and she explain everything very well! She is the best!!!
Tiffany uses an app called Reef where we engage in clicker questions that represent our participation grade. We shouldnt have to pay 16 for six months of use. Although I wish there were another measurement of participation, her lectures are engaging despite being online this year. Exams are 20 questions on BB and every succeeding test gets easier.
Excellent teacher. Highly recommended for physics 211
Great lectures that are clear and entertaining. Gives great feedback on homework problems.
Lectures can be very disorganized and she gets distracted and frustrated a lot during them. She's always willing to answer questions but doesn't always answer them completely or explain them well. Tests are pretty similar to the practice problems though so as long as you put in the work to read the book and do homework you'll do fine.
While I rate the professor difficult, all the issues come from two things, one out of her control. Firstly, she has a few health issues forcing the class to go online. I would have no qualms with this if she ever finished an example problem, she will gladly show students all the theory of physics, but always end short of integrating the math.
Tiffany is not the best lecturer overall. She can get very sidetracked in her lectures as well as having things out of her control happen. She lectures a lot but rarely connects those to actual examples, as well as whenever you have questions on the homework, all she does is tell you how to set it up and doesn't go into detail much or even at all.
Watkins' class mostly consists of her reading from a powerpoint without adding much. She does do a good job at conveying ideas, though I often feel like I don't know where to begin on the homework problems because she spends more time explaining the concepts than showing how to apply them, which is all that matters on exams and homework.
As a non physics major her class was really hard for me. Yet, her organization and high knowledge on the subject made it easier. Be careful with her lab techs though, some are not great at all. Maybe in person it would be better?
First time taking physics in general. The material is relatively hard, but if you put in minimum effort to understand the material you'll be fine. Watkins also does a lot of example problems which help A LOT for the test. Overall hard class but the teacher makes it enjoyable.
She explains the topics very well. One weekly assignment and a test every 4 or 5 weeks. That's pretty good for a 4-credit class. You will definitely need to attend every lecture. The material is pretty abstract sometimes and a lot is covered. The grading criteria is very reasonable. You'll get an A if you pay attention and do all the assignments.
Assignments weren't actually posted in Canvas, and the late penalties for assignments were really steep. I absolutely would've received an A if I had done the homework on time every week, but they were on a third party site.
I would not take her again. Most of my learning happened on my own because she sped through lectures and didn't go over concepts that were confusing to everyone. The class itself is not hard if you know how to study for the exam but take a different professor if you prefer learning from lectures.
Good lectures can get kind of boring because they just read off power points. But does example problems well and can explain it. Very relatable person. Would recommend.
The class subject itself (physics 211) was tough and I still get nightmares thinking about the course content. The teacher did a really good job teaching the subject and if you need help talk to her and she'll do a really good job making sure you understand. Otherwise she provides lots of resources for you to do good in the class, just gotta focus.
I love Tiffany, she's been an amazing instructor this semester. She greeted me by name on the first day of class, even though we had only met once prior :). Fast talker, but taking good notes will make studying for exams SO much easier. Knows how to explain just about any question you might throw at her, in an understandable and detailed way.
Awesome professor! She cares a lot and will give you points back on the test if you go over it with her. She always has office hours and explains things well, you really have to pay attention to lectures and understand the homework.
Tiffany Watkins is a great teacher. Most of the bad things I hear are from students who didn't like PHYS211 and, therefore not liking the professor. PHYS211 is a hard course to teach, and she does a great job at it. You can tell she cares about her students.
fun and kind teacher, very willing to help out as long as you make the effort and participate in class. the class moves fast so be ready
Pros: She is a nice person and cares for her students. She is easy to meet with outside class. She will give you feedback if you ask for it. Cons: Her lectures are inconsistent in quality. The material/lecture slides are difficult and confusing, not entirely her fault though. Overall: A good choice for PHYS, but if it isn't a requirement, I'd pass.
Overall a wonderful professor. She really cares about her students doing well and seems passionate about her subject. Very funny. She ends class 10-15 min early a lot. Sometimes her explanations were a little confusing, but that was more a personal preference than an issue with her.
PHYS 211 was one of the tougher classes I took. That being said, this course offers a lot of extra credit as well as points that can be earned back on exams. Some lectures can get confusing, but as long as you're willing to put in some extra work outside of class, its not too bad.
Watkins will give back partial credit on exams! Her lectures move very quickly but she makes them engaging. Utilize office hours, she is genuinely wants to help.
I LOVE HER! Physics is difficult, and Prof Watkins is so great at explaining concepts that sometimes feel impossible to wrap your head around. Her lectures are very engaging and interactive. She wants you to succeed and will meet with you to review incorrect answers on exams -- sometimes even gives points back. 10/10 would reccomend.
Tiffany teaches with exceptional passion and unmatched clarity. She willingly extends office hours, answers emails promptly, and ensures every student masters the material. Exams are fair and predictable. The finest physics instructor I've encountered—enroll without hesitation.
super chill, great sense of humor, extremely knowledgeable about physics, helps you prep for exams, gives out extra credit, and often ends class early when there's no more material to cover. this class is pretty difficult but she made it manageable. i was originally scared of failing every exam but i ended up with an A thanks to her help
