I had to mortgage my house to buy the textbook.

Tifrah Warner is an amazing prof. She pulls in her students when she speaks and despite her accent, is very clear when lecturing. If I can get her as a prof again, I'm going for it! She had fun and the class had fun. *****
Amazing, amazing prof. I came out of that class SO prepared for my other psych courses, let me tell you. She's incredible.
She is a nice prof but her mood and attitude is hard to understand. She is very sensing and subjective, if she doesn't like you, you will get a very bad grade.
This prof is amazing. She teaches exactly what you need to know to write a dynamite thesis and continueWITHmasters. She's so helpful, and kind. Shares her fruit! The atmosphere was so welcoming. This is not an easy class; you work hard but it pays off
Forget about asking questions pertaining to psychology in her class, she'll tell you "ASK FREUD or JUNG" depending on who you're asking about. Meaningless assignments and strays off topic. Not a horrible person, but learning in this class is a c
awesome prof, very thorough in her field. i hope to have her again in one of my future psyc classes.
Totally forget about askin q. she embarasses those who do. Doesnt teach anything except givin her own life examples n on the exam everything from book. never cover the whole chapter in class jus two section n there is alot on exam. better to homestudy.
She's nice enough but her test are hard. She doesn't really lecture alot from the book (I mean common we spend all that money)She doesn't really prepare you. Kind of have to learn by reading the text. The woman also loves her 20/20 (tv show)
She is Abnormal. She can't teach, I don't even think she can write in english, there is no way that she came up with the exam questions. Very bad prof unless you want a bad grade. Her assignment was worth too much and she will take marks off even though you used the proper apa format.
The tests are too tough for a half year psych course, too much info from the book she uses. Take it with another prof it will be easier.
DISORGANIZED! Rarely stayed on one topic for very long in class lectures, jumped from one topic to another and back again, resulting in confusion when trying to later sort out class notes. Had a great T.A. but it's too bad the T.A. couldn't teach for her.
She really sucks, and she doesnt know how to teach, and every classes, she just sat on the teaching table, and talks about stuff that confused students. Definitely change to another class if you have her. Very hard MC tests, with tonnes of typo everytime.
Listening to her lectures gave me headaches... I can never understand what her points are. No powerpoint or lecture notes provided, it has been a hard time for me to take any notes during her class. Tests are tough although they are only MC. Don't take her course unless you don't have a choice.
I thought she was a pretty good prof. she kew her stuff and relayed it quite well. I felt at ease being in her class. too me she seemed to be in a meditative state...but she was really helpful and really nice to talk to.
Good prof, a little hippy-ish but knows her stuff. She's actually very accomodating if you've missed a test. Attend class and do the readings and you should be fine.
shes awsome! she really knows how to interact with the class,, and always make students participate and keeps them interested. And its wonderfull how she can approuch the class everyday with calmness and mindfullness, she also tends to motivate the whole class for the better, good stuff!
I think she is very good, she's the type of prof who doesn't teach but adds on to the material. She will help if you need it
Loved her storytelling but towards the end of the course i got really bored of her teaching because she rarely added anything important. out of 2 hours of class she would make one point that was added to the exam so you had to be there. i enjoyed the book more than i enjoyed her teaching but nonetheless was a good class.
she is a good prof, very approachable, makes her lectures interesting and involves the class...but exams are very tricky.. pay CLOSE attention in the lectures and know the textbook readings very well

I took 1010 in the summer and still managed to love attending her lectures. Do the readings and attend lectures. Notes from lectures on tests, and she gives helpful hints for assignments during lectures. Very approachable and understanding. Abnormal psych(3140) lectures weren't as interesting. Althgough she made use of videos, she contradicts herself alot.
Warning for those unwilling to participate in class discussions: Do not wear bright clothing. She usually picks on people wearing orange or light blue. And even when you think she's not watching you, she is. Otherwise, she's a great professor and the perfect stimulus.
She is really quite good. What other ppl are saying are wrong. The lectures are intriguing. As long as you come to lectures and read the textbook you'll be fine. MC are a little hard though, and I'd wish she'd cover a little more of what will and will not be on the tests, but still good overall.
she does care about you. It's not about the mark, but how much you can learn from the class that matters.
One of the profs who really cares about her students. That doesn't mean the tests/marking is easy.
I don't know what some of these people who write here are smoking... this is university... courses are not meant to be easy. She is great if you come to class and do the work, and you will end up with an A. If you show up for class every week, you recieve feedback and you can perfect your work. She wants people to do well in her class.
Unclear and contradictory.
Nice lady, but not the greatest psychology professor. Her exams are brutal.
Her topics that she teaches are not straight from the textbook. She is not very interesting. Exams are hard. Yet, she is a nice approachable lady.
She wants the students to do well and is somewhat unclear in her explanations in what she wants for the thesis, however, because of the pressure she puts on you, people tend to do well in the course as long as u go to class and show your work, she'll go through it and you can make it perfect.
you have to attend the lectures because its on the exams. she doesn't really use the power point. she tries to relate everything to meditation. she was late for most of the classes, wasn't prepared at all and doesn't answer questions fully. 1 or 2 of the TAs are hard markers. there were 3 tests (20% each) and 4 ass. (10 % each). overall, ok.
Professor was pretty out there. Tests are heavily based on textbook - read every page. Averages for the first 2 tests were low 50's-60's (badd). Assignments were really easy if u knew how to do it right, it boosted my mark to an A. Lectures were okay, material was interesting, not the professor. Know your case studies well!
She is okay. Just study and you will get a good mark.
BORING. She's like an old hippie.. Her lectures are deadly and she's not very good at explaining anything. As in other comments, the averages for this course were very low and she did talk a lot about meditation. There was way too much to memorize. She made me hate psychology.
Hey guys, I'm a student currently taking the Psych1010 class for the summer course. It's only been a couple of days, but I must say this.. "WTF?". She really can't teach, she has like one slide up throughout the entire three hour lecture and keeps saying "i cannot cover the textbook..its too much but the exam will be heavily based on the txtbook"
She tries to help but is sometimes confusing. She will forget what she's told you to do or change her mind about how she wants you to do it. If u make appointments w/her & do your work, it becomes more clear. Appointments w/ her r better cuz she may contradict the TA. You must participate in class- will ask you questions. Hated the exercise
She is the worst prof in york, she is unprepared, unclear, unorganized, i just took the 2nd exam, and i always study a lot, i swear i covered everything in the textbook, but half of the questions in the exams r not part of the textbook, i had nv heard of them, geez, i hate her so much, because of her, i hate psyc so much. Seriously, take my word.
worst professor i have ever encountered. despite that the class average was 49 she refused to change the way she taught thinking it was "the best way." she covered maybe 5% of the book but tested on 90% of it. she taught completely irrelevant and often offensive material. she did not teach psychology. she stood there and said what she thought
she also could neither speak english well, nor write. most importantly, despite the overwhelming evidence that she was not teaching well, she refused to acknowledge this and did not accept any feedback. it would be more valuable to be taught by a piece of furniture than this person
Prof. Warner is a good lecturer. If you take good notes of key points mentioned in lectures, and listen to what part of the texts are important, you'll do well. If you follow her guidelines about the 3 assignments, you'll be guaranteed an A like me. Her tests are about 30% lecture material and 70% text, attendance of lectures is vital! Listen well!
She doesn't cover the textbook in class, but tests all of it. The readings are incomprehensible and vague, she just confuses you more. She is difficult to understand because she doesn't speak english well and is very unstructured and disorganized. She tries to trick you with the exam questions, and is rude when answering questions in class.
Very hard teachero
She is a good professor, but to anyone taking this course, i would highly recommend to score high on the midterms and the exams, because the assignments wont get u anywhere,(no mater what the TAs or the prof says) the TAs will get rude, and one of the TAs his name is Josh he'll tell him self as strict but in reality he would just be unreasonable.

Professor is hard to understand, she is very confusing, especially when she answers students questions. She covers little of textbook. Otherwise, she is very wise woman with knowledge beyond other professor`s knowledge. Assignments would not be hard if they would be marked objectivelly. TA Josh is inconsistent in his demands and unreasonable.
Well if you read some of the remarks below, you'll see that the TA Josh is a huge problem. He has unreasonable grading, and I think he intentionally failed people (based on a story another student told me on the bus). Tifrah Warner is just okay. She doesn't really answer your questions, however, and always backs up the TA's even when she shouldn't.
Terrible prof. No need to attend class except to keep up on due dates and 'workshops' that just turn into complaint sections regarding the unfair marking discrepancies between TA's. All comments below regarding 'josh' the biased dimwit TA are true. Warner is a wise woman but teaching is NOT her calling. Deplorable lecturing style.AVOID AT ALL COSTS
useless prof, cant speak english... josh is a vengful *** who uses unfair marking practices. avoid this course at all costs
She is clearly passionate and enthusiastic about the subject and engages the class. You have to attend the lectures, she does not post lecture material. TA (Josh) was pretty brutal, glad he wasn't marking my assignments. She really should have compared his marking style to the other TA's, there was a huge discrepancy. Exams were m/c - okay.
She may give off a bad first impression because she has such a different teaching style, but if you are respectful, participate and ask for help when you need it you will do well. She is very passionate about the subject and wants her students to succeed. Her tests are hard but if you study you can do well - and boost your mark by assignments.
I have no idea why people on this site are complaining about her. I think she is an amazing professor! Its a 4th year seminar so of course its going to be harder than most psychology classes, but I have to say I've learned more in her class than in most classes I've been in... its because of her teaching style, which is brilliant. Really great prof
Dr. Warner appears very strict and is,BUT don't be fooled she is very approachable. Her kit is hard to understand and her MCs even harder--you understand the material but still are groping for the answers when MC time comes.Go for the paper if you write well--its worth 40% of total!
Her quizzes are ridiculously hard. Shell tell you its bc she makes them upper level graduate, which is just silly. They are just too subjective that's all.A reflection of the course. But don't get discouraged by them she's fair and unbelievably helpful. Its a course you learn a lot in and what you learn actually sticks. Be prepared to do lots of work.
she's really nice and has a pretty name:D
Super nice teacher! Really great method and easy. Also has a really pretty name:D 10/10 would recommend
This course is HARD!
She is very kind but she is very strict. There is an assignment due every week which is tiring. Her tests.. ARE SO RANDOM! You have to just know the answers from previous knowledge. Very hard. Doesnt let you take notes when shes talking. She cares about her students but I personally don't like her class style/structure.
She really cares about each and every student. She wants us to grow and learn and become better people. She helped us deconstruct a lot of theories instead of just memorizing things. It was hard to adjust to the new style, and the test were really hard, but she is compassionate, and even though I got low As-Cs on the tests, I got an A overall.
I love this proff. She is so kind and caring! She looks intimidating but she is the most down to earth person I have met. She encouraged me and helped me throughout this course. The course is not easy. It is a LOT of work and often hard to grasp concepts. Yet I do not regret taking this course. I will miss her truly for as she has touched my heart
She is an amazing prof! I can honestly say I loved and enjoyed her course. You have to attend class to do well on quizzes but otherwise, it's not hard. I have to admit her quizzes were really random but if you attend and speak in class/with her, you get an A.
She is a wonderful professor. Do not give up for this class! You will have moments when you feel like dropping the class because of the quizzes or the some of the readings...but out of that chaos you will see that it was all worth it. She is very helpful although she does appear strict. Yet do not be discouraged! She cares a lot for each student! A
Wonderful, wonderful human being and professor! As others have mentioned, she deeply CARES. She is very spiritual, and has a great soul. Care and show it, and she will do the same for you!
She is AMAZING!!!!!!
She is HIGHLY disorganized, forgets quiz dates, will actually forget to bring the quiz to the quiz, everything is done on the fly, due dates constantly change, VERY EMOTIONAL. Very difficult due to thick accent and constantly changing expectations, avoid if possible.
She was definitely my least favourite professor throughout my undergrad degree. Highly unorganized, traditional, and difficult to understand. Her exams are HARD, super tricky. Avoid if you don't want your GPA to drop.
This is the first all-over good prof I've had in my entire 4 years. She is memorable, different, and impactful. Her material is simple enough to understand (if not, she explains well), yet important enough to be worthwhile. She is inclusive and facilitates a welcoming environment for discussion, even for those who are shy. Unconventionally good!
I am not sure why her accent would be an issue since her English was very clear!I miss her class very much. This comes to show that she was an amazing professor and a beautiful human being who cared a lot about each and everyone of her students. Study hard and do your work everyday. An A is very much possible if you put in dedicated work!
She is incredibly unclear and very unhelpful in answering questions. Marks hard but does not give any clear rationale for doing so. Avoids hard questions from students and at times doesn't even seem to know the material herself. Hands down the worst prof I have ever had in my undergraduate career.
PSYC4061+4062. Did both classes back-to-back in the summer. Excellent prof; really cares about you. Lots of work because it's the summer (time crunch) but the work is not difficult. Must pay attention in class; readings/homework & class discussions are on exams (but they're open notes). Received an A, then A+ respectively.
+PSYC4062 b2b Yes, may not always give clear directions, BUT is clear when prompted Very knowledgeable. Takes u beyond the text. Transparent about what she doesn't know well Valuable course that demands engagement w/ material+profs values. What u get is balance+a course taught honestly Warning: Taking 4062 w/o her 4061 may put u @ disadvantage
Tifrah is A M A Z I N G. Her course changed my life and I love her name.
Pretty awsome prof. Will teach you stuff on life. Very hard, you dont keep up and reread readings you will not get an A. Tests are hard but papers are lax. But if you want to learn about counselling shes the right one, will teach you about what it means to be a counselor. Would take a course with her again!
Tifrah is a fantastic, free-spirited woman who makes counselling psychology a great course to take. You do have to work hard for your grade and prepare for each class, but her direction in class discussions really helps in understanding the course material. She is kind and very understanding so she accommodates for understandable issues.
A wonderful educator. I took her course over a year ago and I still remember some of the gems she stated in her lectures. Attend lectures and pay attention to what she wants from you and you'll be fine. Mandatory: openness and acceptance of her style of teaching. If you try her methods, you will see a drastic change in your academic & personal life
Worst Professor I've ever had. Terribly unclear about assignment instructions and grading. Be prepared to teach yourself everything. Lectures are pointless, she wastes class time going on about nothing, hardly ever properly covers material, but she'll still mark down your attendance. Her exams are impossible, you can study hard but still do poorly.
Tifrah is an inspiration. She is fun, loving and very easy to talk too. The lectures can be ambiguous but she is open for clarification questions. She actually WANTS TO YOU GET IT. Her class consists of experimental learning and the texts are extremely difficult. The weekly assignments are at least 8 pages each.
Tifrah is an amazing prof and you can truly tell she cares about her students. She may seem tough at first but after the first week the class lightens up. Class seems odd at first because she uses unconventional teaching methods but trust her style and youll do well. Somewhat hard tests but theyre open book and she gives bonus marks for studentship
Terrible professor, unclear about her teaching method. She seemed very off, had to drop out to save my GPA. Id recommend you to take this class if you hate yourself.
Tifrah is not a traditional prof, but that doesnt mean she is bad. She is very nurturing/caring, spiritual and calming. She creates a safe and comfortable environment in the class, students are friendly, class activities etc. Her exams are very difficult I wont lie, but she makes the rest of the course so easy so you still end with an A. Loved her.
Look... Sure, Tifrah is a beautiful human as a person but the things she emphasizes for notes are very difficult to pinpoint. She doesn't really have clear guidelines and you never know the answers to her questions. It's a difficult course.
Do NOT take this class. This prof is so unorganized. She doesn't lecture at all. She essentially has you read the textbook and complete a reading assignment and wants your answers to line up with hers. However the questions are super vague and the answers are very subjective. She spends class time taking up 1/2 the assignment. Not worth it.
Lots of reading, there are weekly assignments but after a while you get used to them and they're very easy to do. The exams are brutal, even though they're open book. Assignment guidelines were vague but she's willing to clarify. Attendance is not mandatory as long as you show her you completed your assignments, but I don't recommend skipping class
She gives off the impression that shes caring but shes actually just your typical hippie. Shes a tough grader, super unorganized, not clear with assignments at all, and teaches a completely different way than weve known how for four years... Terrible for a FOURTH year class. Super bad. Avoid avoid avoid!!
I'm not exactly sure why people are complaining about her teaching method. She's like an elementary school teacher, getting everyone involved & ensuring everyone gets the point and has enough time to ask any questions. If you're a baby and want a typical 1st year lecture, then go there. This is a 4th year seminar.
Horrible for online classes. Attendance was mandatory and she would call you out in front of the class if you were not on camera. Handed in a 25 page paper at the end of the semester.
DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASS WITH THIS PROF! I absolutely hated taking this class with this professor. She did not teach us anything, her lectures were all over the place, she does not use powerpoints and assigns useless readings. You have to buy the textbook that is only used for fall semester and a course kit that is used for winter. HORRIBLE PROF!
Absolutely the worst prof I've ever had. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. She comes off as care-free but is actually spiteful in her marking if you question anything, extremely confusing in terms of what is expected for assignments or quizzes. You're tested on her subjective opinion and she wastes the entire class on students guessing what's important to know
I can't understand how anyone would enjoy taking a course with this professor. Never in 5 years of my degree have I taken a course so confusing. She also talks to students on Zoom like we're in kindergarten and does not specify what we have to know. She expects us to guess
I don't think the online format worked well for this prof's teaching style, which I think accounts for the low ratings. I personally enjoyed her authenticity and efforts to engage the class. It's a fourth year seminar course: attend class, participate, do your readings, and STUDY (yes the exams are hard but not unreasonable).
Do yourself a favour and don't take a course with this professor. But if you're into holistic and spiritual approaches, you may actually enjoy it. She has a very condescending attitude towards people who don't agree with her. Her course is HORRIBLY designed and I learned ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Even the textbook is a better teacher. Unresponsive aswell
Attendance is not graded but still expected. This online format just did not work with this professor. If you want to take a counselling course pick another section with a different professor.
The instructor barely lectures, class time was spent taking up the assignments. Attendance was mandatory and you were not allowed to have your camera off. Tests are super hard even though they are open book.
DON"T TAKE HER CLASS. HER EXAMS ARE OPEN BOOK BUT I SWEAR THE QUESTIONS COME FROM THE SKY. SHE THINKS SHE CARES FOR YOU BUT SHE DOESN'T
Worst Professor I have ever had. I studied hard to get a good grade so that my terrible review of her wouldn't sound petty. She is disorganized, condescending, and what she lacks in self-awareness she makes up for in homework. Treated the class like children by insisting they move around and dance. We didn't want to dance. We wanted some support.
4220 is manageable if you do the readings. Quizzes are open-book. Syllabus was very messy and took time to grasp the scheme and requirements. Prof is a little eccentric. Attendance is not mandatory but if you do attend, she appreciates participation. She does not like it when people have their cameras off without explanation.
I was very disappointed with my experience of 4220. 4220 had a lot of potential to be interesting. The prof(s) teaching this course ruin the experience with vague/unclear guidelines and terrible communication. The assignments provide an inaccurate representation of one's understanding of the course. Very unorganized. I regret taking this course.
