Accused me of plagerism, but never checked sources. Hard to understand due to accent, can't explain things well.
Teach & Cognit.- Thought he was very good. Book is needed. Review sheets are excellent. Tests are fairly difficult. Presentation/Papers are hard & graded hard as well. Learned a great deal
First of all his teaching style sucks. Just using a book and talking for 3 hours is not enough. You can't understand him and he give no credit when you do extra work. He need to be out of this school.
Speaks in 3rd person, but is a Psych prof so this is acceptable :) "Do you like Sineshaw's class? Do you think Sineshaw is exhibiting peculiar behavior standing on this desk?" Keep up with notes. Gives review sheet for tests. Got an
I enjoyed his teaching style. It is a long class, but he does a good job keeping the class's attention. He wants his students to do well in the class, unlike many professors I've had in the past.
The only reason he is so difficult is because you are trying so hard to understand what he is saying that you can't get the notes. The class is very boring and taught me nothing at all. It was pretty bad.
i dropped and so should you, sooo hard to understand this foreign screwball, he barely speaks english!! lord help him, but he is the only teacher that teaches learning cognition and teacher, i dropped and he sucks, plain and simple
No Comments
no no no, stay very clear, he barely speaks english
where is he from, planet i don't speak english?
This guy is absolutely adorable. He's hard to understand, but once you're used to the way he talks, the class is fun. You can tell he likes what he teaches, and that's important.
He is very friendly and helpful although his accent sometimes makes it difficult to understand him, although he's very funny, he refers to himself in the third person and randomly changes the volume of his voice without warning or reason.
Sooo Sooo Soo boring, He reads right from the text book and is extremely hard to understand. Everything we have done in that class you can get more out of it if you just read the book.
Extremely boring. Highlight of the class was when he screamed, "Are you afraid of saying Masturbating in front of the class?" Can't understand a word he says.
I wish he'd stop staring at me.
HUH? That's not english
he's a really nice guy and a good teacher. yes he does have an accent but its really not that hard to understand. i learned alot from his class.
I think he is so adorable. The first week or so its hard to understand him, but then u get used to it. Very nice man. Hard Tests, but extra credit is available.
What? I don't know what he's talking about, or what he's saying...not english??? Bad class, nice guy.
I loved him, his class was very peaceful, and if you actually listen to him, he's not boring at all. As a matter of fact he's quite insightful, and gives good examples. He's very funny too.
Very insightful. Had him for Learning, Teaching & Cognition. He is very soft spoken, so you do have to listen, but he is excellent. Teaches things by stating in different ways to capture all students at some point! Highly recommended!
he cant speak english!! and he wants you to fail, deep down inside he hates us all! he reads straight from the textbook. Talks only about psychology. no education. this guy made me not want to be a teacher! the worst!
His tests are really hard. There were only 2 or 3 tests. No papers or any other way to boost your grade, so if you are great at fast note taking and test taking hes a great prof. for you.
nice man, had him 2 years ago,he still smiles at me in the hallway. grading on tests could have been better, hates giving As. Expect a B. 3 tests and paper presentation, now just 2 tests? Not much ed, mostly psych, this class improved my learning tho.
Rsrch Mthds in general is a hard topic. He was very cool about it and let class out early if he saw we were getting overwhelmed. Alot of work, 4 tests, 3 articles, 1 paper plus presentation. But there was always chance for extra credit. I recommend!
Very knowledgable, decent amount of work, extra credit, tests come straight from hw questions and lectures. Tests not bad if you understand material. Wants you to understand the material. Got a B+. Good prof to take for this class.
well i did not learnedd anything! can you even call that english? anyone that likes him must be from his home planet.
He's a good guy, lots of work though. If you don't keep up on the reading you will sink faster than a ship. His accent makes him a little tough to understand (he's Ethiopian) but it's not a reason to knock the man. Ask questions on everything and you'll fair very well. It's a good class and foundation for future teachers.
Honestly, this man should not be teaching students how to teach. He's nice and he has good opinions on education. However, it really seems like he has not interest in preparing for classes, he came in every week and asked us where we were. He didn't show up for scheduled appointments & everything on the test u have to teach yourself from the book
the professor is a nice man, but very unorganized and definately should not be teaching about teaching..he never knew where we were in the class and his english is shaky, esp written..he was so scatter brained that he missed the final exam claiming he had it planned for a different day all along..i would avoid him if possible, i learned nothing
Horrible professor. What today's society does not want in a teacher. Do the worksheets and you will get an A. Worst part is sitting thorugh his lectures.
He really isn't that bad. His tests are straight from the notes. You have one paper and an oral presentation based on that paper. He is a little boring, but definitely able to get an A in with not that much work. I would take him again.
Not a good professor. I had him last semester. He's an easy grader, but he was not very clear about what he wanted for the paper. Very unorganized. He always had to ask where we left off and he "forgot" the date of the final. His lectures were very boring too.
Very straightforward. Gave amazing study guides. Literally, it listed everything. Just study it, and you'll do fine. The paper is incredibly easy. He gets a bit hard to understand sometimes, but if you just keep listening you'll catch on easily enough. I'd take him again.
I loved him! He really wants students to learn so he gives study guides 2 keep the info relevant. He's a sweetheart and I found his class really straightforward and easy! I highly recommend and I think the accents cute!
Super easy class. Gives 30-question study guides and about 10 of those questions are exact on the tests. Midterm, final, presentation, and short paper. He, himself, however is incomprehensible. He has a thick Ethiopian accent which makes it difficult to understand. Smart but dry and boring. Unclear about assignments. Orally tells you what to do.
THE WORST TEACHER I EVER TOOK IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!!! HIS TESTS ARE HARDLY ON WHAT HE TEACHES. HE DOESNT GIVE NOTES HE DOESNT ASSIGN READING. I REGRET EVER TAKIN HIM. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!
I regret ever taking him. He doesn't explain what he wants in any assignment and is forgetfull. He gave me a C on my presentation because my powerpoint wouldn't open, even though I emailed it to him. When I asked him for help after not doing well on the midterm, he told me I just have to work harder, even though I know he didn't grade me fairly.
He's not that bad, but his class is very boring. His tests are really easy because he gives you study guides before all of them... 4 tests a semester and 1 presentation. Study and you'll do fine. Theres no other work besides studying for tests
genius!
Professor Sineshaw is not a bad guy, his lectures are just really boring and kind of pointless. He teaches right out of the book and gives study guides before all of his tests. There are 4 tests and thats it, so if you actually study hard for the tests, show up for every class and try to stay awake you should get an A.
He's better than people give him credit for. His accent is fine. He stayed pretty true to his sillabus and gives review sheets for every exam. He definitly knows what he's talking about but class tends to get boring when he rambles. Pretty easy A or B, bring your laptop of he let's you but pay attention and read.
Nice guy, but you would think being a teacher education professor would make him a good teacher. His lectures are boring and his grading system is incredibly flawed. Don't take him.
he's a nice guy and the grading isn't all too bad...3 exams and 1 project all at 25%...he wants the students to do well and gives reviews for all the exams. lectures may be boring, but which lectures aren't. overall i thought he was pretty good
Really nice guy.3 exams,a research presentation and participation are all he really asks for.Has a heavy accent and doesn't use powerpoints so you do have to pay attention and take your own notes but its really not that bad.
He is extremely knowledgable and knows what he's talking about. If you're interested in the subject and like what he's teaching it's an easy A. If not, you'll have to try a little harder. His accent takes a few classes to get used to, but it's not terrible.
Great guy, 3 multiple choice exams. Gives you a study guide with the exact terms for the test. Very small research paper/presentation. I also had him for Learning, Cognition & Teaching, same deal minus the research paper. I highly recommend him, extremely enjoyable class, learned a lot.
I thought he was going to be awful based on the reviews, but he is a great professor. He's passionate about the teaching profession and his lectures although always interesting, were very long. The discussion questions in class help break up the lecture, but he goes over everything. His accent is not a problem, and if you pay attention, you're ok.
Just focus on passing tests, nothing else matters. I don't even think he ever learned my name. But, his accent didn't take away from his lectures. Still, lectures felt long because I feel like he runs out of things to say and has to fill in time with busy work lol. If you're good @ multiple choice tests, take him, it's the only thing that affects u
Really easy and interesting class. If you have perfect attendance he will give you a grade raise. His lectures are boring sometimes but if you are a psych major you will probably like the class. His tests are multiple choice, very easy. One five page paper about your childhood. Loved him.
Even though it's a boring class, you can get a good grade pretty easily. If you have perfect attendance he'll raise your grade. He gives 3 exams and they're all multiple choice. He asks for a 5-7 page on your life and that's an easy A. He's nice and likes to add a couple jokes in the lecture every now and then.
Three exams, one short paper. Pretty straightforward. I am very bad at psychology and pulled an A- in his class so I would recommend. Easy tests if you study for them. He does have a thick accent and his lectures can get long, but if you're paying attention they are very helpful. I would take again.
If you have trouble understanding accents, don't take him. He's a nice man but his lectures are endless and talks slow. He uses test banks from the textbook to create his exams. He's a very knowledgeable man but not the best at conveying information. Attendance was strict and a couple papers. Not too bad of a class but I wish I took someone else
Sineshaw is a very cool professor and depending on how the class did, he will curve to help out. He actually cares and gets to know all of his students. Very passionate, and intelligent. His accent takes a little getting used to, but after that, he's good. Classes are engaging, read the book and you will do fine. I will definitely take him again.
Don't even try to take notes based on what he's saying. Read the assigned chapters and follow his worksheets and the class should be a breeze. He gives three exams (including midterm and final) and one paper. He takes attendance everyday and it affects your grade. He's very funny and nice and helpful.
Sineshaw is a very intelligent and interesting professor. He does have a thick accent but by the 3rd class you will get used to it and be ale to understand what he is saying. He is not difficult and is very understanding, provided that you are doing the work. Take him if you need to fulfill any requirements, you will not fail if you do the work.
Professor Sineshaw is probably the most boring professor I've ever had. His lectures are mostly rabbit trails and he says the same things endlessly, giving the same example multiple times. Sometimes after 3 hours in his class, I wanted to scream and cry in frustration. It's easy if you just study from the handouts and notes but intellectual death.
Sineshaw is a caring man who really wants his students to learn and do well. However, he will not tolerate students who do not attend class, who use their phones, and disrupt the class. 3 tests (30% each), 1 paper (10%). As long as you read the text book and listen to his lecture, you will do well. One of my favorite professors, would recommend!
3 tests. 1 paper. Easy grader for the paper... Will curve your grade if you do terrible on tests. YOU HAVE TO GO TO CLASS AND PAY ATTENTION. Not all of the info comes from the overly used textbook. Also suuuuuper boring.
This professor is difficult to understand, but once you get used to his accent you should not have a problem. He cares about his students very much and wants them to succeed in whatever path they take. Paying attention in class is the best thing to do to get a good grade on the exams. Exams are relatively easy and do not take too much studying.
Pay attention to the lectures and you should be in good shape. Exams are not bad at all if you actually look over the material.
He tries, but I didn't like his class. It drags, he goes off on long tangents, and he shows long videos from the 90s. He gives very little guidance with the project because he wants you to do something you're interested in, but I'd prefer more structure. It's an easy class though and it's somewhat interesting. He's a nice man at the end of the day.
The least helpful professor I've ever had. Have a question about the paper he assigns? He will do everything in his power to ignore what you have to say. Never provides clear instructions. Tests have way too much material on them. The class is a drag. And you can't even avoid him because he's the only prof to teach this course! Best of luck.
I don't know why there are so many bad reviews for this professor. He is so sweet and caring and is very knowledgable about this subject. His tests are super straightforward and he gives a study guide a week in advanced that tells you exactly what is on the exams. The class is so easy if you study, and as I said, he is so understanding.
Tests are hard and about every 2 weeks. Thick accent, doesn't answer questions thoroughly and tends to get off topic easy.
Connects everything he teaches to its educational implications which is really helpful for teacher ed majors. After every test he sits down with you individually and talks you through it. One pretty short paper and 4 tests (one being the final) which he gives detailed study guides for each. Heavy lecture but he makes it interesting! Best prof!
Im gonna keep it real with you. T is awesome. Yes his lectures might be boring and drag for the 3 1/2 hours but he is so nice and low key funny. Tests are pretty easy and always curves. If you go to every class is gives your overall grade a 2% boost. Highly recommended for good grade but sometimes it feels like you want to leave. Takes will power.
He's a very good professor. His tests are pretty hard. However, he gives a study guide. He is also a nice person, and has teaching experience from Ethopia and America. Take!!!
Developmental Psych 2018 - Late review but he is willing to help you. Thick accent, one continuous monotone lecture, extremely boring. He doesn't tolerate cellphone usage. He checks attendance. Multiple choice exams aren't bad if you study (few tricky questions). He gives study guides and worksheets to help prepare for exams. Rarely any homework.
if you pay attention you'll pass with flying colors he also gives study guides with the same questions on the test but he plays favorites. the more he likes your class the more extra credit points he will give you as a class. his lectures are also VERY boring. he also has an accent which doesn't bother me but it might be hard to learn for others.
Professor Sineshaw is a very strict grader. You definitely will need the textbook there will be readings every night. You do not show up to class he does not like you and will show it. Had him last semester for online learning it was terrible. You need to speak up and show up in order to pass.
very monotone. only lectures and heavy note taking.
Super intelligent and knowledgeable about the topics discussed. Lectures are a bit long however tests are easy if you pay attention and put in the work. He also makes class very relaxed and is funny !
Hes the sweetest guy you will ever meet! His class may be a little boring at times but its not hard whatsoever! As long as you pay attention and take notes, his class is a breeze!
Prof Sineshaw is a very hard and repetitive instructor. Attendance is mandatory as the class only consisted of 5 exams which were anywhere from 60-100 multiple choice. His accent is very hard to understand as in-class he repeats the same thing over and over again. Very strict but understanding if you reach out to him.
Very boring lectures. I do not believe I learned anything valuable with this class.
Do anything and everything you can to not take any of his classes. Awful professor without a doubt worst teacher I've ever had. If you don't understand you are on your own. I asked him for help numerous times and all he says is study more. The only grades are 4 tests which are 25% of your grade. No homework no quizzes no essays or projects.
He would only talk for the entire class time. Class was made up for 4 tests and participation. heavy accent but not hard to understand.
I dont know where to begin. Hes the only professor teaching this which is bad. Security, he speaks the full time
People are so harsh to professor Sineshaw. If they used an ounce of effort to meaningfully learn the material and listen to his lectures and UNDERSTAND the material rather than just memorize it, they'd pass this course with flying colors. They blame him and his accent on the fact that they aren't smart enough to retain the easily accessible info.
I love Prof. Sineshaw. He is very wise and he knows what he is talking about. If you actually pay attention to his lectures, take notes, and study for the exams you'll do just fine in the class. Everyone hates on Prof. Sineshaw because his teaching style oldschool, but if you have any questions before exams he is happy to help.
Professor solely lectures with no extra credit, and tough multiple-choice tests determine grades. A heavy accent makes comprehension difficult. Lack of support and unclear questions hinder success despite extensive study efforts. Avoid classes with this professor.
Sineshaw's lectures get quite boring and repetitive but he gives you everything you need to know in class. The textbook is said to be required but I only looked at it twice. There are only 4 grades throughout the semester and they're all exams but if you show up to class and pay somewhat attention (and look over slides) you'll do just fine.
Every class is a lecture and he follows along with his slideshows. The only grades in the class are four tests and attendance. Tests depending on the unit are more difficult than others and are quite long. Lectures are very boring and he sometimes will stay on the same slide for an entire class.
He has a slight sense of humor, his lectures were boring and for the most part felt unnecessary for exams. Study guides for all four exams are unclear and personally took me 4-5 hours to complete. I asked him for help ONCE through email, and he gave me attitude then told me to ask a friend instead of helping me. I gave up asking for any guidance.
Don't take this class. He's nice but unhelpful and overcomplicates things. We didn't finish all the material, and while the exams are multiple choice, he barely prepares you for them. He speaks quietly, is hard to follow, and can be rude. The class isn't difficult, but he makes it harder than it needs to be. I wouldn't take it again.
Literally would just talk the entire class period. Graded on four exams, mostly multiple choice. Does have a textbook, but you never really have to read it because he gives you a study guide. Easy class, but not really worthwhile.
Painful to sit through 3 hr lectures and does not commonly engage with the class. Exams are long and mediocrely difficult. Be sure to study and attend all classes. His knowledge of anything he teaches is very apparent. Raise your hand and smile. You'll be fine.
Your whole grade is based on 3 tests. All he does is lecture and asks that you read the textbook, but it is not a graded assignment. Doesn't really answer emails and not the best with OSS accommodations. The one positive is there isn't any homework and gives decent study guides.
I do not recommend taking Prof. Sineshaw. While he is a very nice man and is knowledgeable, he just seems to be aged out of teaching at this point. You're graded on 3 exams, he's rude when you ask for the study guide. He gets frustrated at students and will talk about it for minutes on end in the middle of his lecture. Amazing guy, not a great prof
While Professor Sineshaw is a generally nice and obviously intelligent man, he is not the most empathetic with student struggles. The class itself is not difficult, but I cannot underscore this enough: go to class. If you skip, even for a legitimate reason, you will be able to tell that he doesn't like you. The class is very lecture heavy.
Professor Sineshaw was a nice man. However, his class was not nice. It is based off of three tests and his lectures are extremely boring. If you learn the material outside the class by yourself like I did, you'll do fine. He does provide an expansive study guide for each test which takes hours to get through, but is helpful.
I took this class over the summer, and his directions were not clear or concise. We were graded based on four assignments and when emailing him, it was a 50% chance that you would even get a response.
Took this class in Summer 1 and although I'd heard bad things about the professor, I thought an online would be easier (it wasn't). He penalized early submissions, saying I was “rushing,” even though he still graded them early. The class wasn't hard (just 4 papers, no page limit) but he made it more frustrating than necessary.
