He rocks your freaking socks off. No really...he's proof that there is at least one intelligent human being teaching at VVC.

I liked Mr. Adell. He added some nice remarks to my least favourite stories ever: Harry Potter and LOTR (I hate those). The class ended up not helping me, because I go to school in OR, but I'm not sorry I took it. He has a nice sence of humour towards Marxists like me too. ;)

I thought he was hilarious. He is definitely a writer, because even has he tells the class stories vocally, it sounds as though he's just writing a story outloud. If you are looking to take creative writing, he's definitely cool. I think he only teaches the class like every other semester though, I'm not sure. But I recommend him.

Tim totally rocked my socks off. He inspired great ideas regarding literature and lead insightful and intelligent discussions. He is funny and energetic. It really shows that he loves this subject and teaching it.

I took Mr. Adell probably 4 years ago, and I loved the class, ASK ABOUT THE FART STORY if he doesn't tell it!

This teacher is cool..but he makes you watch Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings...then makes you write papers on them..i mean if u get a chance to take someone else you really should..

He's a really cool person, but as a teacher, he's a really hard grader. He expects students to write as if you have had years of experience in English. He often goes on and on about Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings since the class is primarily based on these books. Don't recommend if you're not into fantasy-like stories.

Took him for 101 and 104. Great teacher! Makes class interesting. Tends to give quite a few writing assignments, but they are not difficult. Easy to get along with, and approach. Has helped me greatly with my writing.

He was a really really great professor. He was definitely helpful and he was very understanding of life a certain situations, it wasn't mandatory to go to his class, but missing it, not such a good idea. He teaches a lot, and you miss it when you're gone, but overall he's a really great guy, and he remembers my name, which I didn't expect at all.

Very enjoyable class, many options for assignments. Textbook recommended for enrichment, but handouts used otherwise.

Very interesting teaching materials, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. But this class isn't as bad as it seems especially if you havent read any of these books. Adell has a very defined teaching style and he really does help the student learn how to write successfully.

Love this professor! I had him for English 109 and will be taking him again in the Fall. If you are having any trouble at all with the class just email or stay after to ask him. He's really helpful.

Tim Adell's English 101 class consists of writing a research paper on either The Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter. This is a really good class to take if you want to get in depth to these series. Mr. Adell isn't a hard grader, you just have to do what he asks for. He also leaves helpful notes on your paper. I would recommend Mr Adell to everyone

In-depth discussions about the workings of American Literature. Lots and lots of writing and reading, but will be helpful in the class.

I did not look forward to taking an English class, though i knew I must. Mr. Adell is a great teacher and he made English, including writing essays, interesting! I'm very glad I took him for my English 101 class, and his classes were enjoyable. This isn't an easy A, you must do your work. It is a good class, taught by a good teacher.

I enjoyed English 101 with Mr. Adell. Before his class I was not interested in English and I dreaded the thought of writing essays. Now, I feel comfortable writing essays, and I look forward to improving my writing even more. He is a smart and funny teacher, and he grades fairly. (Writing about The Lord of the Rings wasn't bad either) Thanks!

Very helpful, not ridiculous amount of writing but make sure you turn everything in. Bunch of small papers 3-4pgs and the 8-10pg one. All about Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings and short stories. Do the work and definitely show up to class and you'll be fine as long as you write decent. The midterm and finals arent a huge deal either.

Extremely easy class even with all the writing, very helpful. Adell keeps his classes entertained with random jokes from time to time. Major thing is to remember to cite ALL your sources on ALL your essays. Also I recommend writing about Harry Potter over Lord of the Rings it's a lot easier to understand and skim over quickly if your in a rush.

Great teacher. Stay away if you hate Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter though. His class will greatly improve your writing skill and comprehension. There's a final research paper on an aspect of HP or LotR that might take some time, but besides that, the rest of his assignments are pretty short and simple. A+++ professor and highly recommended.

Easily one of my favorite classes. Almost all papers regard Harry Potter and/or Lord of the Rings. Book can't be found on Amazon, but is cheap in the bookstore. Nice, funny guy. Even if you get an A, your papers will have suggestions/corrections to make you a better writer. Lots of work, but fun. Procrastination will make this class more difficult.

At first I was extremely nervousness to take Honors English 101, but he made this class super enjoyable! I recommend any honors class if he's the teacher!! I'm currently taking his H. 102 class, and plan to take his creative writing class next. He is always willing to take time to help any student and he keeps class extremely fun.

I need to start off by saying that Tim is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He's extremely accommodating and super personable. Always willing to take time to help with anything. He is a pretty incredible writer and knows his material. My writing improved profusely after taking this class. He's an inspiration and I HIGHLY recommend him.

Extremely helpful. You will learn a lot and enjoy his class. I have also taken him for an entire year now. Do your work and don't be lazy and you will get an A.

I knew nothing about the Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter. He emailed everyone 2 weeks before class started and told us the class was 80% about LOTR & HP. I watched all of the Harry Potter movies in those 2 weeks, and it helped me stay afloat in the conversation and lectures. Take notes because he grades essays throughly. Overall, great class.

Read the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings series before taking English 101 with him! If you dont youll be scrambling to keep up all semester. That said, Adell is one of the best teachers Ive ever had. He gives you good feedback on your papers, hes very funny, he welcomes in-class discussion and class time is enjoyable and informative.

Lots of homework. Medium book work. 3 books for his class. Lots of writing. I found professor Adell was very easy to understand. his grading, I believe, was very fair. He's also very interactive with his students. He likes to know names.

Great teacher and very clear on what he wants from you. Best english teacher on campus, and he is very helpful and always ready to listen. Rarely get homework and when we do its either read or write a one page paper. Had him for English 50, 101,and will take him for honors.

Proff. Adell is personable and interacts with the class in a lively manner. His few tests are fair upfront and with just a little effort easily passed. Moderate homework. He is willing to help you if you need it and has good office hours. His Eng 101 was waitlisted or I would take him again.

I took English 220 with him because I liked his English 101 class so much. The class was mostly based on short stories (and most of them were weirdpointless) but Adell is such a good teacher that class was still enjoyable. One thing to note is that he's used to 2 hour classes so our class always went long and we got disastrously behind schedule.

Professor Adell really wants to see you succeed in life! If you don't try then we wont either! Hes really funny! I would definitely take his class again if i could!

Mr. Adell is a fantastic teacher. I took his English 109 class (Creative Writing) and the whole semester was a great deal of amazing stories and corny yet hilarious jokes. His personality and attitude towards teaching are both fun and inspirational. I would highly recommend him for any English class.

I took him for 50 during the 2015 Fall semester. He is a very good teacher and gives good feedback. He is also very funny and likes to tell stories at times. I would highly recommend him! Passed his class with an A. Your grade reflects the work you put into the class.

Coming back to write this after having transferred from VVC to a 4-year college. So I took Adell 2yrs ago, & his classes were the toughest I'd taken, & I took about every Eng course at VVC. But seriously, if you want to be prepared to transfer, then that tough grading is perfect experience. Plus he's funny, very knowledgable and easy to talk to.

I am writing this after transferring to a 4 year from VVC. Although in the moment Adell seems to be ridiculously hard on grading, he is truly one of the best professors there. He was the one and only reasons i was prepared for the jump to a 4 year, had it not been for his tough grading i would not have been ready. Take him and thank yourself later.

Be expected to read write and write some more. A wonderful instructor that even if there is a lot of reading and writing the practice comes in wonderfully for other classes. Over all a wonderful knowledgeable instructor. I recommend everyone to take any of his classes

Adell is such a great teacher! I learned so many things in his class and will definitely be using the things I learned in the rest of my schooling. Make sure you are willing to work hard and you should probably try to read the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings books now (Just a heads up!) I thoroughly enjoyed his class.

Although I have not had all the professors at VVC I can say without a doubt that Adell is one of the best. He is passionate within each lecture and makes you want to learn more about whatever story or subject is being discussed! He doesn't beat around the bush with what he expects and he will make you an overall better student and writer

All I can say is that Adell is the best!! He cares about your grade as much as you do and he is so hilarious. If you don't like Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings don't take this class.

Professor Adell is hands down the BEST ENGLISH PROFESSOR at VVC. No, he's not an easy A. However, he teaches you skills that you should have learned in 5th grade, but you didn't, and that's why you've always hated English. He is HILARIOUS and so easy to approach. His reading materials are modern and actually interesting. TAKE HIM!!!

He often gives some good writing tips. Not a lot of hw and the hw that was given to us was simple apart from the essays. Don't expect to not be given essays; it is an ENGLISH class. He doesn't bore students easily and can be very funny at times.

I took him for Enlgish 50, and I couldn't have asked for a better teacher! When I was first signing up for the class, I of course looked him up on this website. Seeing his reviews made me give his class a chance. I could have had an easier teacher, but I wanted to learn, and Adell is one of the best teachers I've had the pleasure of learning from!

Adell is a great English professor. His lectures are very fun and he assigns papers on interesting things. If you want to get ahead make sure to read Harry potter and Lord of the rings, since he assigns papers on them. He gives very good feedback on papers and there isn't too much work.

I took his creative writing class, which covers poetry and fiction. His feedback is very helpful, and the workshops with classmates also help. He's entertaining and gives you plenty of things to think about as a writer. I definitely recommend him.

Professor Adell, is an awesome professor no doubt. He gives awesome feedback and actually cares for the student. Your grade depends on how hard you work. If you write your essays a night before well, this class won't work out for you. I would definitely take his 101 class if it didn't involve reading Harry Potter and lord of the rings lol

This professor is amazing and awesome, just take notes, do your papers WITH EFFORT, do class assignments and you'll pass. Our final assignment was the oz fest, the book he wants you to read can be found online for free, book is not mandatory, i passed without it. There's gonna be alot of work, but it's worth it.

Professor Adell is extremely funny. He will mix in humor throughout his lectures, to keep the class involved. He gives great feedback on essays, and conducts his class in a way that allows him to spend personal time with students, that helps improve understanding of course content. I would certainly want Proff. Adell for Eng. 101.

Really enjoyed this prof. He is really good at giving you feed back, at no time will you feel like you have no idea where you stand in the class. Best English professor at VVC. I took him for English 50 as well and prepared me for English 101. He definitely taught me everything my high school teachers couldn't. I enjoyed this class except that the entire class is about Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings. He gives the BEST feedback EVER. How can I forget: HE IS HILARIOUS !

Adell is a fantastic choice for any English course, especially if you're interested in creative writing or fiction as that's his specialty. Do be wary that he goes off topic in lecture very easy and often, but it's more often entertaining and informative than anything.

He's really funny and has a great personality. Gets off track a lot during lectures. When his prereading your essays he gives great feedback to make you work better.

You wont go wrong choosing Adell. Hes very helpful and concerned with his students performing well in his class. If you dont understand something, its as simple as asking. He has an awesome attitude on top of his teaching skills, and is also very resourceful if youre planning to join the honors program at VVC.

He really goes out of his way to help students if they need one on one help. Its more like a history class than an English class. He can be a tough grader but if he sees that youre writing the essays well, and improving, hell give you the grade you deserve. Be prepared for a 10-15 page research paper. Hes very fair with your grade.

Cool teacher. 4 major essays to do and they play a big role on your grade. Don't forget to do your clippings. There is always a story and he usually has to class laughing because his stories are hilarious sometimes.

If you don't have the textbook its okay. Eng 101 Get ready to write lots of essays on Harry Potter and Lord of The Rings. You will learn new writing techniques, though it may get difficult you will get through it.

Professor Adell is the best teacher I have had. He gives hand outs with a basic structure for the essay and a sample essay that he wrote. There are no surprises. If you want the A you have to put in the effort. He gives great feedback and by the end you will know how to write all kinds of essays. Fall is HP/ LOTR and spring is about the Holocaust.

Tim Adell is an amazing teacher. He is very funny but a hard grader. If you participate in his class he will do all that he can to help you, if you don't, you are a nobody to him and are wasting his time. Don't take offense if he picks on you, his class is really SHADE 101.

Prof Adell is rad! We had such a fun and engaging poetry class. It felt like we all knew each other, its a bummer it had to end. He is not a touch grader, show up to class, do the work and ask questions when you dont get something, hes always more than willing to help. I loved taking his class :)

Adell is so cool. He's funny and kind and will take the time to help you if you just ask. He isn't tough when it comes to grades. It's a 101 class and he treats it like that. You don't need to be a genius and he makes everything as simple as possible to understand what he's teaching and what you need to do for assignments.

The professor is easygoing and has a good sense of humor. He makes sure that the students are comfortable with the class and allows the students to chat when giving breaks. Mr. Adell is very welcoming regarding questions or getting feedback on your grades or essays; He also provides advice on making writing easy, effective, and fun.

He's my all-time favorite professor. I took him in Fall 2021 and I'm still taking some of his other classes as of Spring 2022. Very friendly and funny. The only frustrating thing is grading speed, but he's human too, so it's understandable. His feedback is very helpful, and he really brings you out of your shell. Best professor I've ever had. 10/10

Overall really good professor. Very Knowledgeable, and gives good feedback for papers. Allows one re-write for a major assignment per semester. Also, real witty sense of humor which will catch you off guard at times for sure haha. I would take him again

Just finished Tim Adell's English 101 course. I will say he has been one of the best teachers I have had. Has a great teasing sense of humor. Participation matters. If you don't show you care about his class he will have nothing for you. It's pretty entry level and I think most people taking it will have a good time. He is a great teacher!

Of course there is reading and papers, it's a freaking English class. If you fail it's because you're lazy, not because of Adell. He is the funniest, coolest professor EVER! He grades super fast and with great advice to use on your next paper. His stories are so funny, and he will answer ANY questions to help you. He cares and wants you to pass!

Great professor for a first year student. Never failed to make the mornings a lot easier, and his jokes were always awkwardly funny. 10/10 would recommend, and would take again.

He does not post things on time--more like last minute before it's due since he wants mainly 4 or more pages. He's a nice guy, but he's difficult to please with your work. He gives small extra credit points to discussions of potential themes you will write of after reading what he has assigned. This professor makes it hard to come up with a topic.

Overall he was a great professor, from the beginning of the class he helped prepare for the final. All you have to do is go to class and pay attention. He doesn't ask for much, just pay attention. If you need help, he will gladly help when you ask.

Professor Adell is a very caring professor who is always willing to slow down to take a moment to help his students understand in the midst of confusion. Super funny, with a teasing sense of humor. Gave me more confidence in my writing. Ask questions, he will answer as best as he can! He enjoys teaching his students as well as learning from them.

Very chill professor, he will kindly bully the entire class though, its okay, as long as there is mutual respect the class can bully back. Work was simple, but he wont remind you when work is due, and if he does, it might be the wrong date. Be very wary of dates, it murdered me alive all on Saturday, not Sunday, mostly.

First thing you need to be prepared with to succeed in this class is you sense of humor. He teases all students, some more than others, but does so kind-heartedly. His lectures are interesting as they are informative. The best advise that I can give to you in this limited text is to start writing your essays at least a few days before they're due.

Professor Adell was such a great English professor, you can really tell he likes what he does and is thoughtful and considerate of his students. He does tend to get off topic and the subject wasn't really to my interest, so essays can get boring (about The Constitution, Declaration of Independence, etc). Is lenient w/ due dates. Overall a fun guy!

Definitely a character, Prof. Adell keeps things engaging with his unique teaching style. The workload is heavy, but unstuck study and staying on top of assignments will help you succeed. He cares about student learning, just don't take his jokes too seriously.

Really enjoyed this professor. He has you write essay drafts to give you feedback before the final draft. Took him online so he did have a few technical errors on one or two assignments regarding grades, but he fixes them just give him a little time to get to emails. Would take him again for 104!

I took Eng 210 in Spring 2023. Professor Adell is very kind and approachable. The assignments were manageable and his expectations were clear. Besides some odd comments on a story I wrote with non-English names, he was great. I would recommend.

I'm older now and work full time so I'm taking his online course. He's very kind and patient having no issue with me attending zoom classes even while I'm at work. He takes the time to clarify what he needs from us in the zoom classes. He also does rough draft essays so we have a fair shot at the final draft. I wish more teachers were like him.

Took him over summer, and he was clear about deadlines and gave ample time to have him proofread/ask questions. He implements a lot of humor and sarcasm in class, allowing casual (on topic) discussion of the course material. Class discussions are most of his lectures, and he gives amazing feedback on papers. Greatly improved my writing.
