He is soooo boring but you don't really have to be there there to do well, i have an A and probably missed 5 classes, they are only once a wekk so thats a lot.
Got stuck with a large and long night class - not his fault, the university sticks him with that. Material is boring, but again, not profs fault. Do your readings and quit whining. Fair grader, class requires a little work if you're willing.

i found him to be an excellent professor, im changing my major to sociology, and he's really helpful if you're willing to go the extra mile
Dr. Baylor is so boring, I fall asleep in class. He makes no sense and is a horrible teacher. DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN AVOID IT.
He's boring as hell plus his tests are hard
This isn't a bad class Kind of boring you learn a lot tho and must be willing to study hard to pass. don't take one of those long night classes tho that's rough to handle. Over all it was a good class
BORING!!! I had this guy at 8am and he was toooo much. (Weird guy too, brought in some kind of sacred pipe and asked the menstruating girls to move back one row.) not very helpful & gives really hard tests~don't take him. Find another Prof. for Socio.
Baylor is a nice guy and I think that the class is very interesting. You have to want to learn how society works if you wanna find it interesting, but his test are Really Hard!!! You study 68 topics and he puts 4 on the test in different senerios. bad!!!

Interesting class and prof. Explains things very well and will answer questions. Provides study guides for the exams that are excellent! Easy class and great prof. Relaxing class
Does his best to make boring material interesting. Don't take a night class with him, it's way too long if you are not seriously interested in sociology.
this is the worst class .... this is what messed me up and he is not clear and his test are crazy!
You have to work if you want to do well, but isn't that what college is about? The readings that he assigns are fascinating if you actually think about them as opposed to just trying to get through them. I highly recommend that you take him.
HEs hard as****. Readings are cool to read but youll fall asleep in his class. His tests are really hard and the study guides are hard. If you take him do the extra credit which is also annoying and hard. Study a week before his tests!
He sucks ass. His study guides have nothing to do with the tests and he's a very odd little man. Reminds me of a lawn gnome. I do give him credit, he's really into what he teaches, but teaches at a level that is way to high for understanding.
Can be confusing sometimes, but has very good intentions. If you study, you'll be fine. He's very willing to help students and can be long winded, but pretty effective for the most part.
if anyone says this class is tough, its because they are stupid!!! It is a very easy class,i never read except until the night b4 tests, jus take notes and u'll be grand! cool teacher too!
For one, this class is NOT easy. You can't just slack off and never read or take notes. You need to study for at least four days before the test, each night. He does do a very good job of trying to make things interesting, even if his methods don't always work. Do get outta this class if you can!
This class really wasnt too bad. The teacher does love the stuff. He's a bit weird...and the tests can be complicated, but as long as you study, and do everything on the study guide, This class is easy.
No matter what anyone else says, Dr. Baylor teaches a very interesting class. He is kind, and he will make you see the world in a completely different way. He makes good use of class participation, despite the large class. His tests are fair, just study a bit. Come to class for bonus points!
stupid class, didn't learn anything, hes opinionated, hes gay and likes fox fur
Horrible teacher, Can not understand or comprehend what he says. knows what he's talking about but argues with himself over it. Does not take student opinions. its either his opinion or your opinion is wrong!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS
I'm a very good student, but I never liked Baylor at all. I think he was picked on in high school and is taking it out on his students. His study guides have a lot of questions on it, but not even half of them are on the test. You have to read to do well, but if you don't get soc..you will do bad!
he talks way to fast and is unclear.
All these people complaing about Dr. Baylor are just plain rude and lazy. Class was moderately easy, it just take some preparation. I was in the 8am, 120 person class and still got an A. He is not always helpful but the only requisite to getting a good grade is not being lazy and do some work.
Knowing what I know now about this seminar with Baylor I'd volunteer for potentially fatal experimental surgery before I'd register again. Tests are extremely difficult, TONS of reading, crazy project w/ very little direction and assistance. Baylor talks down to class. RUN FAST! Take ANYTHING else!
Alot of people hate this class, I didn't think it was bad at all. If you come to class and pay attention/take notes it shouldn't be too bad at all. I thought he was a nice guy and was genuinely interested in the material he tought.
Do not take this class!!!! I had Baylor for an intro class & he seemed ok then but in this seminar he's been super sucky. He has a major attitude all the time, he's not willing to answer questions & gets mad if ya don't understand. Tests are hard & he blows up in class & embarasses ya if ya speak up
Do not listen to the last post. A few old heads in the seminar Im got upset cuz they only got a 93 on the test. Baylor is a good guy and out of our class of 20+ there are 2 people who think hes bad. He cares a lot for his students, the class is a little rough but hes definitely worth taking!
Baylor changed his seminar topic from the original course topic to suit his own needs, so he takes no responsibility for our class being unstructured. The topics were kind of interesting but not enough to hold my attention. I have a 3.0 GPA,hate to miss any class, but I make an exception for his.
Good professor. Tests can be hard, but theyre fair. Took a lot of **** from idiot students who were upset for getting a 93 on a test. Don't let their opinion sway you for taking him. He's a good guy
Baylor has issues. No other way to describe it. He is aggressive and hostile in class and the two oldies up front were sticking up for the class who didn't seem to mind until it was time to suck up to the professor. I'm as bad as the others because I didn't speak up too. Project sucked, tests sucked more. No professional behaves the way Baylor did.
I took this as a web-based course. I liked it in some aspects, hated it in others. A little hard to understand everything because you don't get the side-notes most profs. give when lecturing. Study hard and you'll do fine.
terrible class....do not take this prof
Great professor!!! I would take him again.
effective

Very passionate about Sociology. Teaching isn't just a job for him. The class was easy. He gives you study guides listing every question on the test. I have yet to get below a 96% on a test
Very helpful!! Just go to class, take notes, and do assignments and you are fine. Test are fairly easy but you should study. Easy class if you make an effort. And he wants to you do good.
Simple class, teaches off power point. Test are simple and journals he makes you write are easy. Advise is go to class and pay attention and you should easily walk away with a B+.
Journals are a grade booster. Tests are okay but you must go to class, take notes, and study. Critisizes you if you speak up, class can be boring because he cannot move on.
He's a nice guy, but he is terrible at moving on. He stays on a single subject for WAY too long and it can be a very boring class. His tests are all MC and T/F and they can be a little challenging but for the most part they aren't too bad.
I took Marriage & Family & thought it was a great class. If you're interested in sociology, you should like Dr. Baylor. He's a really nice man & he makes class fascinating. He really knows what he's talking about & his classes aren;t really hard at all.
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE never ever take him if you can help it. he gave us a 76 question test without telling anyone and then had the balls to not show up to give it, he had some other professor give it to us instead. He claims that he was very clear about the test and everyone in the class said they never hear him say anything about a test DONT TAKE HIM
He is slightly effective
He is passionate about what he teaches. He gives you study guides, but the tests are very hard. Class is boring. Usually only about 50 questions on guide, but 70 on the tests. You'll do okay if you are interested in the material. I got a B.
He was ok.. Tests were hard!! He is def. passionate abot his stuff.
Test are so difficult. Never really understood much of what he was saying. I recieved a tutor for the class and somtimes I think she knew more than he did about the subject. He really knows his subject and is very passionate about it.
I took the web-based course, and I got an A. His material was tricky, but he took time to explain anything we didn't understand. He also went over the test after we took it and eliminated any questions too many people got wrong. He is very into his material, and I think he was more than fair.
I had Dr. Baylor first semester, freshmas year and absolutely loved his class. He was very passionate about sociology and made it interesting. The journals were interesting, although, you do have to study for his tests. I got an A in his class, and therefore, did not have to take the final. I'd definitely recommend him!
Interesting and challenging class. Enjoyable! this professor make you think deeply about the subject matter.
Baylor is a good professor, he isn't very strict with attendance, he allows you to miss up to five classes. He has in class worksheets too. I had him for Marriage & Family it was a good interesting class. A plus is if you have a 90 or higher you dont have to take the final. I recommend him to anyone, I'm taking him as often as possible!
he is an easy teacher but watch out if you say something that he doesn't believe in himself
very good professor. go to class and pay attention, and you will do fine! he hands out many really easy papers for easy points. you would have to try hard to fail.
It was an interesting class. The material does get repetitive though and there is a big focus on black/white relations. The book for the class is difficult to get through, you just have to keep in mind it's from a structural perspective. Attendance counts . There are also ten worksheets throughout the semester that help your grade.
Dr. Baylor is a good professor. It's REALLY hard to fail his class. Make sure you read and pay attention.
the class was extremely easy. go to class, pay attention to what he says, do the worksheets, and youre pretty much given an A. i barely tried and got an A. the book was difficult at times to read, but the questions he asks are spelled out in it.
I think he is a great professor. I had him for Race and Marriage & Family. He gives you a lot of opportunities to do well. If you show up and turn in all of the required work you will do good in his class. If you have a 90 or higher before the final exam you don't have to take it!! Every class I've had with him I reached the 90 or higher!!
I am taking his online class, I already took his Marriage and Family class. I hated the Marriage and Family class. I learned a lot, but it was boring. The tests were hard. The online class is a lot of work! (more than a regular online class is). He definitely knows his material though. Just do the worksheets and you'll be fine!
The class that I had him for this previous semester was Racial and Ethnic Relations. I am a black student at a univ. where the majority is white. He made me feel very uncomfortable at times by allowing the students in the class to voice out constantly, their stereotypical views. He NEVER once corrected them! which made me believe he agreed with the
A true gem of LHU's teaching staff! Baylor is a caring, insightful, and interesting teacher. I had him for "Racial & Ethnic Relations", he taught this infamously troublesome class without any flaws. I would highly recommend Baylor! After taking his class I switched to being a sociology major. Lock Haven is lucky to have such a teacher.
Keeps attendence so make sure you go to class. The tests and quizs are easy if you read and pay attention. All the tests and quizs are online as well, so it's really easy to cheat on them
Paying attention is key and sometimes that can be hard to do when he's going on and on about the same thing for 20 mins. I felt like there was no real structure for the class material and I was constantly lost and eventually just started tallying the times he says alright. Which averages about 100 per half hour. I wouldn't recommend him to many..
The way he lectures has nothing to do with what the powerpoints say. Absolute joke.
I don't know what everyone's complaining about. Baylor is a great professor as long as you pay attention, take notes, and do the required reading. Everyone who says his class is hard or boring obviously hasn't put in the required effort.
If you don't do the assigned reading, you will be VERY sorry. He's not very structured. He is obnoxiously liberal and will ridicule your beliefs should you express an opinion different from his own. Honestly, his ego made this class obnoxious.
I thought he was a really good teacher. If you do the reading and pay attention during class you should have no problems. Make sure you keep up with the reading or the quizs will be really hard. He gives bonus points for coming to class.
really easy as long as you go to class
He is not that bad of a professor. As long as you go to class you will do perfectly fine. you do have to read the books but they aren't that bad and if you have trouble finding something in the book you need to know he will help you find it. As long as you pay attention in class and participate the exams and overall class isn't that bad.
Not very helpful but its definitely a class you can pass with an A without any help.
All the tests and quizzes were online. His questions were difficult to understand at times. If you ask for help he helps. If you don't mind putting in some effort and going to class you'll get an easy a.
I thought that Dr. Baylor was a pretty good professor. As long as you do you readings, take the quizes and come to class you should be fine. His classes were occasionally boring but i wouldn't call him a bad professor.
He's fair if you do the work. Although boring, it's an alright class. I thought it would be an easy A but no. If you get a 90 or above, you don't have to take the final but if you do, it can still count against you. Quizzes and exams are online and can be tough. Sometimes quizzes will not cover all the material so some reading was pointless.
Dr. Baylor is great in the sense that he opens students minds to new ways of thinking. However, he can be very insensitive and almost rude on a one to one basis. He gives A LOT of quizzes and readings, which aren't hard...just annoying and time-consuming. He also gets very behind in lectures and tends to drone on and on. Overall: Eh. He means well.
VERY unorganized with his lecture and whats on the tests and quizzes. He has no sense of right and wrong and takes his troubled life problems out on his students. Very rude when you have questions.
Baylor is the ultimate libtard tyrant. If you say ANYTHING that he doesn't believe in himself he'll chew you out in class. He's also really rude and ignorant and most of the time the info on his powerpoints aren't even on the test. Whatever you DO NOT TAKE HIM. This goes for everyone, especially if you have more conservative views like I do.
Proffesor Baylor breaks down sociology in an interesting way that I had not viewed before. He is a bit disorganized, and his d2l is hard to follow, but honestly, all you need to do is follow what he says in class
He Loves when people participate! Attendance is a must for him. He brings in several mediums to explain a topic. Go to his office hours to ask questions! He is a great professor.
I have had Dr. Baylor for 5 different courses and I love his classes. He is very enthusiastic about sociology and I have always enjoyed his classes. He isn't "out to get" students and will help you. He's a nice guy and honestly the reason I changed my major to sociology and didn't transfer. Just go to class and pay attention and you'll be fine!
Very hard to understand. I mean he loves the subject he teaches, but he's just pushy, offensive, and very confusing. I would never take that class again.
This intro class made me want to double major! I loved it that much! Tim's a great guy with a big heart! He'll help you if you ask. Gives tons of extra credit! Lectures are eye-opening and inspiring. I would take this class again and I will pick up a second major and sociology is it!
Have to go online every day. Lots of quizzes. The exams are difficult if you don't read the books.
Dr. Baylor is a hit-or-miss. If you agree with what he has to say, he will love you and you will do well, but if you challenge him, then he loses respect for you and is less willing to help you. I did not enjoy the marriage and family course i took, but i would take another one of his courses to give him another chance.
I loved his sociology class and tried to take more of his courses, however, they didn't fit into my schedule. He is a great guy and it makes me really angry when students don't respect him. He curves tests and gives extra credit occasionally. Great guy and great teacher. Very respectable sociologist.
This was one of the hardest classes I took. I studied my notes, power points, read the articles and I still had a hard time passing. I think he's the only professor to teach this class. Take him only if you have too. Make sure you don't miss class or you won't know what's going on
Absolutely wonderful professor! I see why some aren't a fan, but personally I would take another sociology class just to have him as a professor again. Also, the books he made part of the ciriculum were very interesting. It was a good class and all the exams were online.
The reading is needed to be done if you want to pass his exams. Half of teh exam is material covered and the other half is based on the reading. There are quizes based on the reading for every so many chapters, wasn't hard if you did the readings even though I thought they were boring, has a book review based on one of the 2 books at the end
Only had 4 exams including the final, he made class interesting, but half of the exams are based on the readings. Gave 6 free skip days but anything over 6 was 5 points for every day. The books are okay, but easy to read, gives a study guide for the reading and picks questions from there for exams
Dr. Baylor's Intro to Sociology class was very informative and simple. If you showed up and listened to his lectures and did the readings, you were sure to pass. If you have an A at the end of the course, you can chose to be exempt from the final, which is a nice reward for putting in work for the class. He is very easy to talk to and a nice prof.
Overall the class is easy, as long as you read what he tells you to. He gives a lot of short quizzes that help your grade, plus extra credit. Beware that the class is lecture heavy. By the way he does take attendance, there may or may not be some loopholes to this.
He gives you 6 free days of missing class any days after the 6 he takes 5 points off of your final grade for everyday. You have to do the reading or you won't pass the exams. He gives at least 10 points extra credit if you participant in his study he does every semester that is easy.
Dr. Baylor is very nice and breaks things down so that you can understand them better.
There is a ton of reading for this course, don't be fooled. However, Dr. Baylor is hilarious and incredibly engaged with his class so the readings aren't much of a burden. I absolutely adored this class and had no problem doing well in the course. Just do the online quizzes and read!
Very passionate about his work and it shows. He gets better and better if the class answers and participates. He loves to teach an involved classroom. But you must do your part and read, read, read if you want to do well.
He loves what he teaches. He sometimes can be very specific but not give the exact answer to what you need. Only teacher that will not make an exam study guide so far. I understand teachers don't have to do this, but at least give us more detail to what we need to know. He jumps into one subject to another sometimes confusing.
You can tell he really loves sociology which can make the lectures a lot more entertaining. He really tries to learn your name and is pretty easygoing. There's a lot of online at-home quizzes (10 pts each) but they really help your grade. There's 4 exams but all are online and at home. Super easy if you pay even the slightest attention.
I've had almost all of Tim's courses, and I can say with 100% certainty that he is so passionate about what he does. His lectures are interesting and easy to follow. He shows a lot of examples and goes through the readings to make sure you get key points. He has study guides as well. You get 5 absences a semester. One of my favorite professors.
You definitely need to read: There are two books you need and go to class everyday. There is a poster project that needs to be done. A definitely solid choice.
