Great teacher! Very easy to understand. Tells history like a story. Took 1&2 with him because I like the way he teaches. Ended up with an A & a B. Take the class. The tests are super easy.
yeah, chauvin's a good teacher. really easy to listen to. explains history well.
Great teacher, espically if you're a nonhistory major. Explains everything very well and lets you know the key terms to study. I highly recommend him.
Worst teacher I have had at this school. If you get sleeping problems during the semester, take this guy, he'll put you right to sleep.
Always late, and if it's raining, you can bet class will be canceled [even if having test]. Very out of it. Would come in and just stare into the class for a few minutes. Forgetful and sometimes seemed as though did not know what he was talking about. Would flip through book and then write on the board. No notes prepared for class.
VERY EASY and a good teacher. I would definetly recommend this teacher.
He was kind of spacy but he explained everything simply in class. He gives you an outline for the test, and his test are not difficult at all. I would definitely recommend him.
one of the best teachers i've ever had. very interesting easy going and pretty funny. i would definitely recommend him to anyone.
I thought he was the most boring teacher ever at first, but I really liked him by the end of the semester.. He's a sweet person. I thought he was sort of cold, but I think he's just not very outgoing. His first two tests were hard, but the last 2 were a piece of cake. Just remember who was president when things happened.
really cool, although he draws out his sentences. The funniest was when he forgot our test at home, and made us take the 1st page... he forgot 80% of it at home...
One of the easiest classes I have taken at SLU. Just study your notes and come to every class and you'll be fine. I had a 99 in his class before the bonus days.
easy teacher. tests are from notes and he gives you what you need from the reader. doesnt care that much about attendance. gave bonus. kinda spacey but hes nice
I had this teacher for 2 different History classes. I made over a 100 % in both courses. This is the easiest teacher ever. In fact, I am taking another History class that he teachers. He makes learning fun, and his tests are based solely on class notes. Take him!
He is a great teacher!! I would definately reccomend him. Just show up to class and pay attention to his lectures, and study alittle and you will be fine. He has really dry humor and he trys to make you laugh! He is a nice man and his class isn't hard, just alittle boring.
He is dry and very borin but his tests are super easy and If you just read his notes, don't worry 2 much about the book lest he tells u so then u r sure to pass his class No problem....His downfall is he tells jokes that nobody gets its kinda funny that he tries 2 be funny poor man..he should take lessons from Chris Rock hahahah
Very good teacher! He writes the terms on the board you need to know before each lecture...so its very easy to keep up! His tests are really easy and rarely uses the book! I definately reccommend!!
Take him! Take him! Take him! He is really nice and is straight forward. His test come straight from the notes and there is not much reading! The test are easy if you review your notes! If you are not into History, take him! You actually learn alot too!
Not very intresting. An OK teacher. Did not think test were extremely easy like the others did. But not hard. If I did not go to class everyday and take notes it would have been hard.
This professor has very good lectures and his tests are relatively simple if you attend class. Just make sure you show up.
boring, but nice
AWESOME CLASS AND AWESOME PROFESSOR.
Very easy teacher. He gives key terms on the board in chronological order so you can follow along with his lectures. Sometimes cancels class when it raining. Enjoys class discussion about the topic, but it rarely happens. Highly recommend!
I took him for hist 101 and 102 and made an A in both classes! He writes the terms on the board and talks about each one in deatail so the test are really easy!! Great teacher!
great teacher. really easy to pass because all test terms he writes on the board and explains in detail. all tests are multiple choice on a form b scantron and i never once opened the book. i would reconmend him to anyone!!!!!!!
Easy teacher! Writes terms on board and goes through and explains everything. Talks loud and crisp. Easy to understand. He is a little weird though and at times tends to ramble. But he's a good teacher!
He was an easy teacher, i never opened the book to study. All you need are the notes and the terms that he writes on the board.
EAsy! Just go to class, take notes, and memorize your notes! no textbook use the whole semester. only dates you have to memorize is the elections. super easy! take him!
I loved this class. If you want to get something out of the class take him. He was easy as long as you attend class, take notes and study. He didn't use the textbook at all. I would tell anyone to take his class.
I loved Prof. Chauvin! His class was SUPER, SUPER easy! As long as you attend class and take notes, this is a VERY easy A! He even writes all the terms you need to know on the board.
Good teacher! I enjoy going to this class. Make sure you take notes, and study them..and you will be fine! Test are kind of confusing, but if you study before the night before the test..you will do fine! I recommend him!
If you need to take this class for your major, i would definitely take him. I have alot of stressful and hard classes to take, and this one I hardly stressed out about. I studied about an hour or so before his tests and made at least a B on all of them!! I WOULD def tell everyone to take him!!
good teacher!
I hated American history in high school. I was never interested. But Dr. Chauvin makes it so fun. He talks as if he was there when all of the stuff happened. He has some cute humor, too. It's funny to see him crack a smile. His tests are JUST LIKE THE NOTES! They're easy, too. Just listen and take good notes, and you'll do great. Such an easy A.
This guy's the best history teacher i've had! he comes in and writes the key words on the board before he starts lecturing and they help sooo much! u do have to use your book sometimes but that's only if there's a reading for the test. he's also pretty cool when it comes to bonus! take good notes and you'll do fine on the test! EASY A!
He lectures the whole class, You have four tests and one is a map. then you have a final. In the beginning he had role. then he skipped it sometimes. You miss you need to get notes from someone.
Very good teacher!! Explains things well!! Easy tests!! Highly recommend!!
He is nice, funny and easy!!! He likes cracking jokes every now and then. He puts the terms that you need to know on the board, so this class is easy as pie.
made a boring class okay. Cracks silly jokes, sticks to the notes on test so make sure you take proper notes
Ok this class was a piece of cake. Go to class take good notes and you will get an A. Has 4 exams 95% of questions come from notes other 5% from short reading assn in book. Had night class once a week and we get out early most of the time. He is interesting and tells history like a story puts key terms on board know those and get an A
Don't let the previous comments fool you. You think that his class is all that, but I passed with the bare minimum. He does write terms on the board and what not, but extra credit is rare I tell you. He does curve your exams, but doesn't help if someone makes a 98 or 99 on it. My advice is to take him, but don't take him. Your GPA counts on it.
this guy is the best history teacher i've had! i had him for hist 201 and made an A. i have him now for 202 and we've taken three tests and i havent made below a 98 on any of them! just take good notes and read the short reading and you'll make an easy A on the test! take this professor!!!!!!
Funny teacher. I loved it when he'd do impressions of people from the past. His lectures are all outlined on the board, so listen and take good notes, and the tests will be a piece of cake. I'd only study about an hour or so before the test, and I made an A. He curves and gives bonus. The final is NOT comprehensive. Never really uses the book. :)
I actually had him twice a day in back to back classes, one for Hist 201 and the other for Hist 102. Writes key terms on the board and goes over everything you need to know for the test. Very nice guy who's very, very smart when it comes to history, so if you enjoy history, he's the guy to take.
He wrote all the terms he was going to associate his lecture with on the board right when he gets into class. His tests aren't easy but he explains situations very well. If you goto class , write down all the terms he writes on the board and make good notes of his lecture. He gave out a state capital test to us for the 3rd test, was an easy 100.
Mr. Chauvin is a good instructor. He covers everything that will be on the exam- nothing more, nothing else. He is pretty funny and dorky, but also very smart. He uses technology to teach, which is a plus to me. If you go to class and study your notes, you will do fine.
He's easy if you study a lot. He does give powerpoints though.
I really do not get why people say he is funny. If want to jab your eyes out with your pencil because he is so boring, then take him. And you do have to study.
I'm decent at history and was barely able to pass his class. He picks the smallest details out of the notes and throws it on the test. Then he'll use four different names for the same person on a test. It was horrible.
I would not recommend this teacher. He gives power points (in class only) but they are not very detailed at all. Hardly any extra credit. Very boring class. He seems unsure of himself & his facts most of the time he teaches. The test were really hard and confusing. Multiple choice, 5 choices A-E. He seems like a nice guy, but not the easiest class
He is a very good teacher. His tests are not easy, and they make you think. If you study for the tests, you will be prepared. He gives notes orally and also in powerpoints. His teaching style is very laid back, and he knows what he is talking about.
Very easy. He was also very nice and laid back. Attendance was not mandatory but its your loss if you attend class. His notes go right along with the powerpoints, and he tends to give bonus and curve often. There is no reason why you shouldnt make an A in this class.
Nice guy. Dry sense of humor but I thought he was funny. You don't have to go to class but you'll be lost if you don't. Test aren't that easy and the way he words the questions can be tricky. Overall he's a good teacher and Im taking him again next semester for a different History.
EXCELLENT teacher! I dislike history however, he made it interesting & I actually learned a thing or two! I would take him again!!! Test are hard but if you study you will def. pass!! Oh & he doesn't care if you come to class or not, however I would suggest you do, you will do better on the exams!
He's awesome and so incredibly easy! Take himmmm!!!!
Nice teacher with good personality. Easy tests.
Go to class, take notes, get an A. Super easy.
Most monotone teacher there is. Almost impossible to stay awake with his constant rambling. Does have a make up day but will not care if you have any questions after a test. I would never take a class of his again.
I've taking this guy for three semesters, and I've made A's twice and a B for the first semester I had him. He's not super easy, but if you study his notes, his questions come directly from there. Little readings are required for each test. Once you get used to the way he tests, he'll be one of your easiest professors.
He is a overall good teacher Not too hard. Just go to class take notes and study. You will pass
Don't take this teacher if you're not really interested in the subject! He will bore you to death & the material will seem much harder! His notes come from ONE WORD bullets on power points & you and have to elaborate yourself while he speaks! You don't have to go to class but you should if you want to pass. Oh, and we won't email you back!
He is a very easy teacher. Just copy whats on the powerpoints and study, you need to be in class though. Some of the things on the test come from him and not the powerpoints. The test are really easy. Not a bad teacher at all.
Very easy! Must take him! You will get an A without even trying.
I love this class! He makes it very clear what will be on the tests, gives prac. tests on BlackBoard. Test comes straight from the notes. Pay attention and you will do great!
He does a lecture with a power point guide for notes, so you can copy down the power point and fill in with lecture. He takes attendance every day. Four tests and a final. No quizzes. Several bonus point opportunities. He'll sometimes curve the tests! No homework, but do study outside of class. Funny, smart, great teacher!
write down notes in class because he does not put them on blackboard. Very easy, gives bonus opportunity, and often curves tests. Passionate about history, but a little boring. Still worth it, though.
I do NOT recommend this professor. Boring, unclear, not willing to help, and doesn't even give time during class for questions.I love history, but having to sit through this boring class was torture. His test are unclear and tricky - and the notes you take during lecture don't even help. Start reading the textbook now if you have to take him.
I love Tim (Munson) Chauvin! I took him for 102 and am taking him again for 202. Here's the deal. Come to class. He lectures with a powerpoint. There's a word/phrase and you fill in your notes while he lectures. If you pay attention ,take good notes, and study, this class will be an easy A.
Easy class. Take notes, and come to class, and you will get an A. Never responded to my emails.
I really like him! He lectured from the beginning of class until the very end. All his notes are on a slideshow but he doesnt put it on the internet. He gives an attendance grade of an easy 100 pts. Tests came straight from the notes and he rarely gave homework! Definitely recommend him!
Very easy class. Test questions are straight from the notes, and there is an attendance added to your average at the end of the semester. As long as you study and go to class, you should easily have an A or B. The only bad thing I would say is you really can't miss because he does not put the notes online.
His test are pretty easy, they come straight from the notes. He takes attendance every day and gives an attendance grade at the end of the semester. His lectures are clear, but if you are not interested in history you will get bored quick.
SUPER EASY teacher! Tests are straight from the notes. I printed out the slides then wrote everything he said (not too difficult because he doesn't elaborate all that much), and I made an A, no problem. Go to class and do the few extra assignments; you'll be fine.
He's nice and the class is pretty easy, but a lot of times he was really disorganized and could never remember when our tests and assignments were supposed to be. He definitely knows what he is talking about, but he has trouble explaining things to the class. You definitely have to ask questions if you want a clear explanation.
His lectures are boring because his voice is very monotone. His tests aren't extremely hard but not easy. You have to show up and take good notes. I would take him again.
HE IS A AWESOME TEACHER!!! GO TO CLASS AND WRITE DOWN NOTES.! EVERYTHING IS FROM THE NOTES! HE CURVES A LOT. YOU MUST GO TO CLASS ARE IF YOU HAVE A REAL GOOD FRIEND TO GET THE NOTES FROM.!! HE IS AWESOME I RECOMMEND HIM. IF I COULD TAKE HIM AGAIN I WOULD!
I really like this teacher. Easy class, just study the notes and you should do fine. He also has additional grades, such as attendance, notebook tests(he switches every semester. Make sure you go to class though, he does not put notes on blackboard.
This class was pretty easy, but unless you have friends to take notes for you, it's almost required to go to class. He doesn't put notes up online, so going to class is your only other option for notes. The tests are directly from the notes and a side reading w/ questions that are also easy. He gives plenty of extra points too. Take him if you can!
Chauvin is the best history teacher ever... He is definitely funny and very interesting... I would recommend him to anyone just be sure to go to class and take very good notes.. he gives so Ichthyology bonus work!!! Easy A he is also very informative!
I had him back to back this semester with Hist202 then Hist201 right after. It can get unbearable some days because I just get so bored sitting in the same spot for 2 hours, but he is easy and really nice.
He was ok. He is a very dry teacher. I had him late in the afternoon and that was horrible. I needed a bed. His test are very tricky but he always curves them. If you study you should be fine.
He can be a bit scatter brained at times but he can usualky pick up and get backon track once he notices. If you show up, take notes, and review them a few times you should be fine.
He is a really nice person, but his notes are very unorganized. He jumps around from topic to topic. He only gives you four tests and the questions are tricky. His lectures are boring.
Mr. Chauvin is a very easy going professor. He knows his subject well. I took him for two classes this past semester and did really well in both. Offers a lot of extra credit opportunities and you should take advantage of all of them.
I was not supposed to take him and some how he got switched to being my teacher for the first day of school. I dislike his teaching style, he is very unprofessional, and he is very disorganized. He is never on time to class and he does not show up for the test on testing day, he has his graduate assistant watch the class. I would never take him.
great lectures! Copy the power points and always go to class! He will send you the power point the day before the test incase you didnt go to class. Know the material dont just memorize. Lots of true or false questions. And will give back 2-4 points after test depending on if a couple of questions werent clear.
Professor Chauvin is honestly one of my favorite professors I have had while taking classes. The information on the slides is used directly on the tests. You will need to read a few chapters from the textbook for each unit; however, he will send you a set of 20-ish questions to help understand them. All the tests are multiple choice and T/F.
Professor Chauvin was not a bad professor, I enjoyed his class for the most part. At times his questions could be a bit confusing and he was very disorganized but it was not like a super hard class. He knows the material well! Tests can be tricky if you do not study, As long as you look over the sample questions, readings, and notes you're good!
