Amazing teacher. Loves what he teaches. Makes it interesting even on Mon, wed, and friday mornings at 8. great guy. cracks biology jokes. i highly recommend him. Make sure you attend class, he gives clues to answers on his quizzes and it isn't a terrible class to go to.
Tests are EXTREMELY hard!!!
Dr. Christensen is a great teacher he is really cool. The class is at 8 in the morning crazy time but the class is great. GO TO CLASS he gives inclass quizzes sometimes but they are easy. Overall great class great prof.
He's passionate about biology for sure, but he's a little more complex than other professors are. He doesn't break it down very well. Attendance isn't mandatory but you will get behind if you don't show up every class.
he's definatly a fun biology prof. he's really into genetics so when you get to that section, he gets more indepth. he's a total dork, but really knows his stuff!! PRINT OUT THE NOTES AND GO TO CLASS!!! im horrible at bio and got a C simply from only missing 2 or 3 classes but always printing the notes and paying attention, i'd take his class again
He is definitely my favorite teacher this semester. He is really helpful and made me genuinely interested in biology. I even look forward to his lectures at 8 in the morning! He doesn't take himself too seriously and is a fun guy. Go to class so you don't get behind, and print out the PPs. I also read all the chapters and add notes as I read.
Great prof. he loves genetics! He knows wut he's talkin about and although theres no attendence if your doing bad in the class i'd go to class as much as possible he is known for random extra credit and giving hits to quiz and midterm questions! I loved the class even tho it was at 8am. If your looking for an easy A this isn't the class for you.
Tim is a good professor. He gives you good notes in class and although he doesn't have an attendance policy he still gives you attendance quizzes half of the time. If you pirnt out the powerpoints and take notes you should be chill. Also go to his review sessions because they really help.
he wont make you go to class everyday but i would go because he tells you hints! The midterms are extremely hard, study hard for them...But there is a big curve most of the time. Not an easy A but he is a great professor! I'm making a B right now but if i put some more effort into it, i could make an A. Just pay attention and you will do fine!
this man is very hard he uses difficult words that NORMAL people dont understand. His test and quizes are written in paragraph form. He does give lots of extracredit, but you have to be present.I dont recommend this professor for anyone even my enemies. Try to get a different professor if possible.
love him!
REALLY tough class, makes things complicated when they shouldn't be. Go to class b/c there are frequent attendance quizzes. I had to study my ass off and only managed a B, deff try to get another prof.
Tim is by far my favorite professor. All quizzes are online so you have your notes and textbook available for use. Plus they're usually 2 hours long which is more than enough time to answer 12 questions.... Midterms are hard I had to study for a week in order to make A's on them. He is always there to help and has review sessions before each test.
It's a hard class, but he's pretty cool. I got a B, and I didn't really do much but listen. He drops a midterm grade and 3 quiz grades which helps your overall grade out.
He was really good and tried to be funny. He gives online quizzes so you have your notes and friends. Attendance isnt required but he always gives free extra credit if you're there, usually writing your name and turning it in. He's really cool and understanding. You might have to read a lot and study unless you can mange just from the lectures.
I loved this class. It is designed for bio majors, which I was not one! I found it to be difficult but I liked the challenge. MAKE SURE YOU ALWAYS READ! It's easy to get an A, but you HAVE to work for it. Christensen is amazing and is so much fun. I loved him and even though I hated the MWF 8AM class, I looked forward to coming to his class.
TIm is a cool guy if you have the chance take him for other levels of Bio. He is a great man and professor. The class was designed for Bio majors and designed to weed out the under achievers...Ha I loved it!
Tim is hilarious. His power points dont have a lot of words on them so u have to go to class to take notes. The info is somewhat hard 2 understand but he is really interesting 2 listen 2 and he is willing 2 help if need be. Tests are hard! But class is fun. Quiz every week. And if he sees that there are not a lot of people he will take attendance
tim was cool, he was a nice and funny guy. but he was a little too funny at times. i never have liked bio and it didnt change me. it was hard and overall just boring. i had to read the book even though it wasnt required to understand anything. i pulled a C in this class and it was a struggle. hes smar and knows alot, but i wouldnt want him again
tim is a good professor. he is funny at times which keeps you intersted. must pay close attention in class because his slides are mostly picutres so be prepared to take notes. read questions carefully on exams.
Nice guy, favors certain students. Sit in the front, study for the tests and everything on the quiz is in the book so don't freak out about how hard the questions are. i would highly recommend taking him.
Tim is a really good and dedicated teacher. He absolutely loves biology and teaching it. He is always there to help and loves when questions are asked in class. He moves fast but is willing to stop and or slow down if you do not understand. Attendance is not mandatory but it is a good idea to go because he tends to give out hints for quiz's a lot!
I absolutely recommend this professor. he's super helpful if you need help. If you want an A in his class, take notes, sit on the front row, read the book. His midterms aren't that hard, just pay close attention in his lecture. Oh if you need help with the essay ( usually required for med school), Tim is the best. He knows these stuff very very wel
Christensen is a great teacher! His power points on BB are a good jump off point to start notes. If you go to class, take good notes, and study for the quizzes/tests you'll do fine! I highly recommend him!
Christensen is a great professor! His power points on BB are a good jump off point to take notes. If you go to class, take good notes, study for quizzes/tests, you'll do pretty well! He is really funny too, I highly recommend him!
Dr. Tim was an excellent teacher, but I didn't care for him as a person. Go to class, take notes, read the book and you will be fine. Quizzes are online and open book. Tests are hard so study. Drops the two lowest quiz grades and the lowest of the three exam grades. There is extra credit on the quizzes and exams. I got an A in the class.
Tim is a good professor, but sometimes, well most of the time, he is kinda confusing. He talks very fast and it is hard to take all the notes you want, but he has no problem going over things again if you ask nicely. I would highly recommend reading the chapters before class to get ahead. The tests are hard so study all you can and try to start stu
Christensen's class was fun. Great professor for this course. He can start to talk fast and can get hard to takes notes. He will go over what he said to clairfy anything he said. He powerpoints are on BB and quizzes are online and open-note/book. 3 mid-terms plus final can be hard if you didn't study. Attendence not mandatory but helps with grade
Dr. T is the one you want if you're taking this class! He talks a bunch so be prepared to listen and take notes. Attendance isn't mandatory but is part of your grade and he takes random attendance so just go to class. Plus quizes are online and open book but can still be difficult and he gives hints in class! Study exams for final and you will ace
Dr. Tim is the man! He cares about his students and genuinely wants them to do well. His slides are straight and to the point and he bases all of the questions on his tests on them. His tests are based on concepts, not memorization so as long as you understand the concepts you'll do great. If you need to take BIO1100 Dr. Tim is the profesor to have
Dr. Tim is the best teacher for this course by far! He is extremely helpful and he is funny. We had 3 exams and he drops the lowest 1.The final is mandatory. There are 10 online quizzes and he drops the lowest 2.Attendance isn't mandatory but he randomly takes it and its extra credit. He tests you on the concept not details. TAKE HIM! he is awesome.
Dr. Tim was GREAT! This was my second time taking BIO 1100. I got a D the first time I took it with another professor. This time around with Dr. Tim I got an A! He really wants the class to learn the material. The tests are not filled with a whole bunch of tricks, it's straight to the point. Take Christenson! AWESOME!
Tim is the man...if you want to learn a lot about biology, here is your opportunity. Even though he does get side tracked he has legit reasons....don't be scared of him either...thats why people fail his class they don't like to ask questions...but if you just ask question you'll do great!
dr. tim is a great lecturer. he is a great professor but that doesn't exactly translate an easy A for his class. print his notes and study. I suggest that you read the book before going to class. also his tests are a bit hard. take him
Tim is a great professor. His class is hard, but he is very helpful. He has lots of review sessions. He gets to know his students and actually cares about each of them. You're not just a number to him. He's a great teacher, loves his job. Highly recommended. Study hard though, and read. Just because he's a good professor dosnt mean his class is eas
One of the funniest teacher ive ever had he makes class interesting and worth going too. Loves to put students on the spot (especially if sleeping/texting) and gets everyone in class involved. Tests arent easy but curves are used, extra credit is given, and the lowest test is dropped. As long as read the book and go to class then you will do well.
Dr. Tim is funny and truly does care about his students. He remembers a lot of people's names for a professor with 250 kids per class. Go to class, he randomly takes attendance and it WILL boost your grade. Tests are extremely hard, so don't take it lightly. Has 10 quizzes & drops the lowest 2, as well as your lowest exam grade
Extremely funny and makes going to class fun. If you go to class, he usually gives extra credit points by taking 3x attendance or gives answers to an upcoming quiz or midterm. I would highly recommend for anyone to take his class.
Dr. Christensen is a very informed professor, he knows his stuff. It's just not an easy course but he is more than willing to help you whenever you need it. To make an A: study, go to his office hours, and take your time on the online quizzes. He offers plenty of extra credit and loves to know his students. He offers curves if the average is low.
real cool guy. knows exactly what he is talking about and will help you to understand it. printing off the power points are necessary. good guy and very fair. i would take him again if i had too.
Dr. Tim is an awesome professor. He makes class enjoyable and is a funny guy. He wants you to do well, so don't be afraid to go to his office hours or ask questions in class. The class isn't easy, but if you take notes on the powerpoints and understand the concepts you will do fine. I would definitely recommend him!
THE BEST PROFESSOR EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS MAN! AND YES, HE WILL WORK WITH YOU B/C HE TRUELY CARES ABOUT HIS STUDENTS!!!
Awesome. Knows his stuff and will do anything to help students. Final is all old test questions. Tests aren't too hard if you study. Gave a lot of people in my class an A, take him!
Dr. Tim is awesome. All you have to do to make an A in his class is print off the powerpoints ahead of time, take notes during class, and look over your notes before the test. He is extremely helpful and hilarious, so class is never boring. DO NOT TEXT or play on your laptop while he's teaching. Other than that he's super chill and really fun.
Tim's class was extremely easy for a biology class. He gets excited about some topics more than others and you can definitely tell. Attendance is mandatory (clicker questions)but as long as you show up to class, do good on the online quizzes, and go to his office hours getting an A is easy. Final exam was NOT difficult. Would recommend him.
I hate biology. However this guy is a great teacher, but it's hard material. HE CUSSES, HE WILL CALL YOU OUT, HE WANTS A "PROFESSIONAL" relationship with his students.if that scares you.don't take his class. Go to class, attendance is important, quizzes look online if you can figure them out. Tests are not based on quizes 3-4 questions maybe. A+
Dr. Christensen told me to write something bad about this class but I cant. He is a excellent teacher and I truly enjoyed going to his class everyday. He is clear, concise, and professional. His class is challenging though, but he gives plenty of resources to use for help with his class.(other teachers, pirate tutoring, SI meetings) Take his class.
I love Tim! His class is very hard though and hard to prepare for. He keeps it interesting and fun. Takes interest in students and knows everyone's name and faces. A lot of power points. My favorite teacher so far!
He is by far my favorite professor so far at ECU. He makes class entertaining and explains everything well. Tests are hard, but he curves and drops the lowest one. Printing out the powerpoints and reading the texbook help. He also takes attendance, but it boosts your grade. There are 10 quizzes (online) and you can use google for them. Take him!
Really nice guy. Class is pretty hard but no matter what biology class you take it will be hard. I higly recomend him. As long as you are trying he will be more then happy to help you out.
I hate biology and it's by far my worst subject, but I have an A- right now. The material itself is tough but he'll go out of his way to help you. Holds review sessions for tests, that are very helpful. Attendance isn't mandatory but is taken randomly for a grade.. It will help your grade. He's so funny, definitely will keep you awake!
Don't buy a text book, you wont use it. However, he is an awesome teacher. Drops your lowest of 3 tests, and 2 lowest of 10 test. Also, the final is nothing but old test questions. He is a very nice and funny guy, but its very hard material, so study hard.
He is such a funny teacher! He does joke alot! His quizzes are somewhat hard, but you can find majority of the answers online! Make sure to study the notes and review the material in class to get a good grade! The final is basically all of the midterms combined! Overall he is a great teacher and I highly recommend him!
HE IS THE MAN, TAKE HIM! He helps you understand everything and makes biology so interesting! He made bio pretty easy, made an A in the class. No homework, just an online quiz every week. He curves the midterms if majority of the class did bad. I would definitely take him again! Hands down.
Dr. Tim is hilarious! Exams and material is difficult, but the exams are curved and if you go to class your clicker grade helps you A LOT. Drops the lowest exam and no homework other than weekly online quizzes.
Seriously by far my favorite professor at ECU. He genuinely cares about the students at all academic levels. Without a doubt I would take any course he taught. Most of the bio 1100 professors are great, but he is just amazing. Plus he is absolutely hilarious.
Dr. Tim is by far probably the most fun professor you can get at ECU, however the class is difficult. If you are good at teaching yourself, this is a good class because you have to take numerous quizzes prior to discussing the topic in class. The exams are hard, but semi-similar to in class activities.
Tim is a great teacher. He does go over a lot of material. He gives pre-quizzes that are due before class. He goes over the material then gives you an exercise to do. He is very funny but unless you pay attention you won't do well. You also have to teach yourself before class in order to understand. It's a great class if you actually want to learn.
Dr. Tim is a really nice guy! He keeps his lectures interesting, as interesting as you can with biology. He tells you you don't have to come class but I'm telling you, it is best if you do. You will need the textbook so get it. Exams are short answer, so you gotta know your stuff.
Tim covers a lot of material but it can get confusing at times. You read the textbook a lot so buying it is a must. All exams are short answer and difficult. When asking for help during class the explanation did not always make sense
Dr. Tim is a great professor as well as just an all around fun guy. However, his class is quite difficult and if you get behind you will not be able to catch back up. He gives quizzes every week or so and three tests along with the final. Reading from the textbook and self-teaching is a must.
If you are looking for a professor who is actually interested in you as a student in and out of class, one who will help you with anything you need, and one who will pick with you, TIM IS THE MAN! He is super helpful if you need it, just make sure you study and take it seriously. He also wears cool socks but he has never watched Spongebob. TAKE HIM
It is a hard class. As long as you go to class and study hard you will do fine. The test are from the worksheets in class so make sure that you pay attention and know how to do them. He is very helpful so go to his review sessions and office hours.
As a person he is wonderful as a professor not so much. Everyone in this class has failed at least one test in here. Class average for the first test was a 52. Stay away from this class if you want to succeed in life. Oh yeah the final exam and his test are NOT multiple choice.
Even though the class is very hard and I spent almost every day of first semester in the Pirate Tutoring Center I wouldn't change anything. He makes the class difficult because as freshman we r used to everything being handed to us in high school so Tim teaches us how to work for it in college. Overall difficult class but worth it.
As a person Tim is great. He's funny and makes you laugh during lectures. However, laughter is not what gets you an A in the class. If you want to pass with a desired grade you need to read. Tutoring is highly recommended, unless Biology comes to you naturally. When asking questions he doesn't really answer them, leaving you with more questions.
Seriously Tim Christensen was my favorite professor this past semester. He is a very good person and very funny but you have to be prepared to learn on your own. His lectures and worksheets are a little confusing and he won't really answer your questions straight up. If you really like Biology and are up for a challenge, take him!
He's a great teacher with a great personality, but he makes you work for the grade you want. He has a lecture-like style and you have to be able to write down what he's saying quickly, or just read the chapter the night before.
Very passionate about Biology, however this class was definitely a rude awakening... If you don't read the chapter, don't bother going. You might as well go to a Calc class in Russian. Online impossible quizzes, no extra credit, lecture style class. Final was 14 front and back pages long no multiple choice. Need I say more???
Tim was my favorite professor by far this semester. He is funny and makes it almost impossible to be bored during his lectures. The tests are VERY hard. No multiple choice, all know it or you fail. Quizzes given weekly online are tough but he gives you numerous attempts. Great professor. How hard you work prepare determines an A or an F
Tim is very funny and helpful. His class is the toughest class I have ever taken, but it is also the class that I have remembered the most information from. He is more than willing to help students as long as the students are willing to work.
This professor is the best I have ever had. He is by far the hardest and makes you really think. But by the end of the course, you truly understand Biology. He is also hysterical and will honestly help you. Also, the night before tests, he has a study session with him and he breaks down anything you are confused on. I would HIGHLY recommend him!
Tim is a great professor and a great guy. I went to his office hours a couple times and it really helped my grade . Really funny guy and lectures are fun. Test are hard, every question is short answer but he drops the lowest test grade, I ended up getting a B. Definitely recommend taking him.
Take his class. It's simple. I would not be the student I am today if I hadn't had Tim for 1100. I met 90 percent of my college friends in his class, and we are all very close to this day. You CAN make an A! Tim cares about his students and taking his class will prepare you to destroy any other biology course that ECU offers. Take him. Do it.
Tim is hands down the BEST professor I have ever had. His sense of humor and ability to explain things is beyond great. He cares so much about his students and honestly has the teaching style I believe all professors should have. Read and go class! The work sheets you do in class set you up for A's on the tests. TAKE THIS CLASS! No 'RAGRETS'!
Best teacher I've had. If you go to class and do the in class worksheets you will get an A. It's a hard class but not hard to get an A. His tests are basically photocopies of the in class worksheets. Very fun class.
Tim is hands-down the best professor you will ever have. It's not only obvious that he loves what he is doing, but he makes you love it too. Lectures are hilarious and informative. Known the worksheets and you'll do great on the tests, which are short answer (he drops your lowest test). If I could take Tim for every class of mine I would.
He is a great teacher. Tests are very hard. I wish I had paid more attention in class. He's not very specific on what will/won't be on tests, so studying for them is pretty difficult.
Very tough class but well worth it. Lecture attendance is very important and so are the in class exercises. Tim is a great professor and is always available to offer help when needed, and gets to know every one of his students personally.
This class was a unique experience. Tim is unlike any professor I have ever had. The class is interesting and one of the most difficult sciences I have had. However, I did make an A- in the class and will go into 1200 more prepared. He will help you if you go to his office hours and the tests are very difficult. I would take his class again.
Tim makes this class very easy to want to learn about biology. Attendance is vital in order to be present for the lectures and the class activities; without these, you will not pass so go to class! He is hilarious and makes his lectures interesting while teaching the material well! If you do the work, you will learn a lot and get a good grade.
Tim is a great professor, although if you don't understand he's not really worried about it. I don't know, maybe it was just me but overall he was a really great professor! I looked forward to going to class
I took this class last fall and I failed so I have to retake it. After that I decided biology wasn't for me and I switched my major. BUT I will say I tried so hard to pass his exams and understand concepts and all of it was extremely confusing. When you ask a question he answers with another question. Hardest class I've ever taken.
He is the best teacher at ECU. I don't know why some people say he is bad because is amazing. He is super funny and takes the time to know everyone. He gives review sessions and he makes biology fun to learn. His tests can be a little challenging at first but he gives you all the answers before the test. By far the coolest and most interesting prof
Tim is the best professor! He's so funny and makes learning biology fun. Go to the review sessions because they are really helpful, go to class, and take the in class assignments seriously as they are basically the tests. Oh and dont be on your phone or he will call you out and everyone will stare at you.
He may not have been the easiest professor, but his class was the one that I enjoyed the most. STUDY THE WORKSHEETS!!!
Tim has been my favorite professor, he cares, he's hilarious, and his class is one I looked forward to. I never missed a single class which is what I'd advise for others as well. I took Bio specifically for Bio majors which is HARD but he made me enjoy the challenge and assured that we knew everything that was going to be on the test. I RECOMMEND!
Tim is very interactive with his students. He is hands-on and does not hold back (not a lot of teachers cuss in front of their students). His exams are very similar to the handouts we do in class. The prequizzes are the real confusing part because the info isn't necessarily in the book. The book isn't required but is a great tool to understand info
A wonderful professor as well as class. He makes freshman bio enjoyable. He is hilarious and always allows for group work. Best professor Ive had!
I had taken Biology 1100 with Professor Qi the first time and failed so I changed my major to Biology. I like that this class is set up in groups and that we are able to brainstorm and bounce ideas off of eachother. I would definitely recommend him and would take him again if he taught 1200.
Honestly Tim is great. He's difficult, so get ready for that, but if you work for a good grade, you will get a good grade. Study the in class worksheets. I did not get as good of a grade as I had hoped, but I would still take him again. You don't necessarily need the textbook, but it is helpful.
Tim is a great professor and man. He is very engaged with the class and is big on using the info he gives you PowerPoint slides on most graded activities, so if you look them over it should be an easy A or B. If you have the option to take Tim for your first biology class, don't miss the opportunity.
Tim is an amazing professor! I LOVED his class. If you don't go to class, you wont pass. But if you go to class and pay attention, easy A! Quizzes almost once a week and in class exercises every class that a crucial to your grade!
Make sure you read the chapters and study for the test. He genuinely cares about his students and his lectures are very interesting.
Tim is a great professor. I never read any of the chapters assigned but the book definitely helps when it comes to studying for tests or trying to understand something that you didn't understand in class. ALWAYS go to his review sessions, you will pass tests if you do! Take notes and pay attention and you will do well in his class.
Even though HNRS 4000 is no longer a class, I have to brag about this man. He had a wide array of majors in this class, and he never treated any of us in an inferior way because of what we majored in. I was worried as a theatre major, but he inspired me so much and I'm still here because of him. A wonderful person and great teacher.
Was my first biology professor in college and made me love the topic! Class is difficult, but if you do the assignments and homework you will do well in the class! He really cares about his students and will take the time to get to know you. Is a funny man and teaches because he enjoys it, not because he has to.
I took the online class during the summer. It was a lot of work because it is 5 weeks. People say he is a great professor, and I'm sure he is--in person. He was responsive over email but was almost non-existent for the online class in BB. He didn't participate discussion boards; no lectures or ppts. It was a self-taught class that "someone" graded
This class, taken for bio and bio chem majors only, is one of the hardest classes at ECU. Reading is mandatory and so is attendance. He gives worksheets that can be completed in class with your group of 8. He is an amazing teacher who expects nothing but the best from his students. He also curses excessively.
Tim is one of the best professors I've ever had. The class is difficult, attendance is mandatory and there is a lot of reading the textbook involved. I have learned more in this course than anything else this semester and would 100% take his class again if I could. He's extremely genuine and cares deeply about his student's education. Take him!!!
Tim is honestly the best professor here at ECU. He is funny as hell and really has a passion for biology. No joke the guy is a genius and its kinda intimidating at first but you get use to after a while. The tests are ALL short answer questions and they are hard, but as long as you read the book and do the class work you should be fine.
I was a little intimidated by Tim at first, but once you get to know him and his personality, the intimidation goes away and you realize he is a really nice guy who genuinely cares about his students. His class is not an easy A, so if you're looking for that, avoid taking this class. He will challenge you to actually learn, so I'd take that any day
This is a problem based learning class meaning you get lectured for 30 minutes and then he passes out a worksheet that you are supposed to know how to do. The only problem is, the worksheets are beyond complex. If you ask questions about the sheets, he almost never answers them (so that you can teach yourself). Tests are crazy hard, average is 48
He helped the class understand the material ore than I would with any other profferer. He cares about the students and helps with any questions you may have. He has review sessions that help extremely on the tests.
most of the lectures are for 30 mins straight you can't just copy off of the powerpoint you ave to take notes on what he says which I found hard to start with. The test are all based on the in class lectures, worksheets, and quizzes. They are generally hard and all either fill in the blank, matching, or free response. I learned more from the tests.
Tims personality makes this lecture class so enjoyable, I actually looked forward to going to class. The course itself is challenging but it really has taught me good work ethic. The tests have NO multiple choice, its all matching/open ended questions, but they're based off of all classwork so if you do the worksheets you'll know what to expect
Tim is a good professor but we only had 3 tests the entire semester. Tests are based on worksheets but the worksheets are so overly complicated and not went over. He goes over the tests in class and drops the lowest test grade but that isn't enough to save your grade. He is the hardest prof I had ever taken and he seems to choose favorites.
Tim was definitely my favorite professor this year. His lectures are super entertaining and he's funny as hell. Tim really cares about his students and does as much as possible to give you the best grade possible. Tests are average just be sure to attend class and study his worksheets. Take him!!!
I would not recommend taking Tim as a teacher. He is a very smart person and expects you to know what he know. All of the tests a short answer and the only thing you get to study for them are the worksheets you do in class which are also hard. For notes he talks super fast and it's hard to write them down. WOULDN'T TAKE AGAIN.
Funny, and also cares. Good dude
Tim is by far the best professor I have had this year. He is awesome and a funny dude. His tests are easy as long as you pay attention to in class worksheets. The textbook also really helps. He is always there for you if you need help with a topic. Highly recommend him.
Very passionate and knowledgeable about his field yet has a strict policy and doesn't really understand students. You could do well on tests and not so well on maybe a few quizzes or homework assignments or vise versa and still end up failing or getting a low grade in the class and that's that, no going back. Better read your textbook.
Tim is intimidating but respects you if you try and is very funny. Class teaches how to do group academic research, so thats a big part. 110% ok to show up with a failed idea or experience, he will respect that if you learned. Loves relentlessly direct, so he will berate you if you deserve it. Terrible communication across the board.
Tim is the best professor I have ever had. Picture a genius Seth Rogen and that is him. He cares about his students and their grade and if you do not understand something, he will get it in your head until you do. TAKE HIM... you won't regret it
Took this as online class first it seems very overwhelming cause there is a lot of work, once you get in the groove you are good. You need the book for the hw. I used the study modules to study for the tests and I did very well. He drops the lowest test grade and had three attempts on the quizzes. grade is 50% exam and 50% quiz, hw, participation
this class was so easy! Just do your homework and study for the test you will be good!
took this over the summer and basically just had textbook readings the entire time. the homework wasn't hard but it was extremely annoying to do. he'll answer his emails when he can and was super nice.
Hands down one of my favorite professors! His feedback was very helpful in coming up with our pitches for Honors.
Tim is unlike any professor I've ever had. He's definitely a character and makes class entertaining, but at the same time, he doesn't play around when it comes to studying and attendance. So PLEASE READ YOUR TEXTBOOK and study for the tests in advance. If you're passionate about biology, you'll like Tim.
The class was easy! Just make sure to turn in your work and take the quizzes
Absolutely love this professor. He keeps class fun and interesting with his witty sense of humor and amazing knowledge of the subjects. He frequently makes people laugh and encourages students to stay active during his discussions in class. The lectures never feel boring and you will always feel prepared for the quizzes. Would definitely recommend.
Dr. Tim is clear with his expectations, a lot of the work is done online, and what is not done online are in-class lectures and worksheets. (A lot of worksheets.) Pay attention in class, especially on the worksheets, and read the assigned chapters before each quiz and there is no reason you won't succeed in this class.
Be ready to spend quite a bit of time on this class. If you study and participate, you will pass. There is A LOT of reading from the text book. About 2 quizzes a week based on the chapters. In-class exercises are difficult if you don't come prepared. Attendance and effort is what makes your grade. Show up to class and engage in the lecture!
Tim was a great professor. He will joke the fool out of people but that is just how he shows he cares. There are in-class assignments each day which you can work as a group on which really helps. All of our exams were online but you need to study if you want to understand what is going on. 10/10 recommend if you want a great professor. Also READ!
Dr. Tim is an entertaining personality. A lot of reading, a lot of quizzes, and make sure to go to class, it helps a lot. Tests are mostly made up of in-class assignments. It can be hard to talk to him or ask questions because to me he was just hard to understand but he's definitely accessible outside of class.
You get multiple attempts to do the quizzes twice a week. Attendance wasn't required but you can miss in class assignments. He offered extra credit a few times through the semester. The exams are online. He is not an effective lecturer, I rarely missed class and still couldn't keep up. His exams were difficult and most people would score 60-70%.
He's a very caring and funny professor! The weekly reading/quizzes can be annoying but will help you in class and help your grade. Exams are online as well. If you don't come to class you WILL be screwed. His lectures are really helpful though. I will 100% take another one of his classes if I get the chance.
Amazing guy who really goes out of his way to make sure you succeed. His lectures are great and he's really funny and passionate about his work. The difficulty of the material is high, but he offers TONS of extra credit that literally saved me. This man is seriously an amazing prof
Professor Tim was overall a good professor. Make sure to do any extra credit provided and attend class to do all worksheets. Make sure everything is turned in on time and take advantage of being able to work with your group on in class assignments.
One of the best professors I have ever had. Has a good sense of humor and likes it when his class is interactive. He drops the lowest exam grade which is really nice (3 total). The people you sit with at your table will be the people you work with all semester. If you miss class, you will miss the in-class assignment which is affect your grade.
Was very nervous for this class but Prof. Christensen was absolutely amazing. He cares about his students learning and succeeding in his class. Attendance isn't mandatory but you don't want to miss class because his lectures are important. I highly recommend this professor and wish I could take him again. Go to class and try, you will pass.
Christensen definitely cares about his students. He can come off as blunt and sarcastic sometimes, but don't let it distract you from the course material which is actually quite good if you do your reading and attend class. He means well and takes "curiosity questions" at the beginning of class that are helpful if you don't understand something.
My first year was last Fall and honeslty I didnt really talk Dr. Christesen as much as I should have but I will say he is one of the coolest guy I ever met and very chill. I had Careers in Biology with him so I don't know whats its like in actual classes but the class was very inspirational. I hope to run into him again!
Great professor, go to class to get the code. Participation is key. If you're in the field of biology and trying to get into med school or a lab job, make sure he is your best friend. The opportunities that open up that I didn't know about are great. I highly recommend him since he is at the head of the biology department.
