The work load he gives is challeging, but he's a great teacher and very helpful.
The amount of reading and overall workload piles quickly if you dont manage it over time. He is a great teacher, and is highly recomended that you take his class.
Lots of reading for this class, but if you just attend the lecture and pay attention you can get away with not reading all of it. You pace the papers and work yourself. He's a rather easy grader on essays.
Take this class! Best class I have taken here. You are supposed to do a lot of reading, but if you just show up and listen to the lectures you will do fine. Dunn is an excellent teacher!
Very funny! Great teacher! Don't slack off on the readings, because you will never catch up. You'll do fine on the tests as long as you go to class and read.
He is an exellent teacher, who happens to be very intellegent.Definatly the most interesting person on the faculty to listen to in lecture. The concepts and ideas presented in his classes keep you aware of what is really going on in the sick twisted world
top notch
Don't take this course unless you want to bash the U.S. on anything it has done, if you do and voice your opinion in class, be ready to take one hell of a series of comments..seems to undermine those who question his information. (and I had a good grade)
Very good teacher, approachable, cares about his students, as long as you do the work you're pretty much guarenteed to get an A, and he's just the cutest little thing
He's such a nice guy, and he is always willing to help students. You must keep up with the reading assigments (which alot of them are interesting) then you will do well in the class. If you like sociology take his Criminology or Social Problems course.
Hillarious...awesome professor
Great Teacher! Very approacable, willing to help with any questions, go to class and take notes and u'll get a good grade. Very sweet and hillarious man!
kinda hard to take notes, but make sure to write whatever he puts on the board. FOLLOW THE OUTLINE WHEN WRITING A PAPER, and make sure you mention all the readings. tests are M/C T/F and short answer.don't really need to do readings(unless you are a group leader)just pay attention during discussions
Nice guy and fair. Tests can be pretty hard though. Do your reading. Show up on group discussion days.
He was really interesting and informative
he is the best teacher you can ever ask for. he is very focused. he makes the class very intresting and fun. as long as u pay attention in his class u will get A with no problem, he is also very understanding and always their to help .
Really nice guy, great sense of humor. Classes weren't boring at all and it's very easy to participate. However this was much more work than I expected for a low level class - lots of projects.
I did not like this class at first but the more and more I go I love this professor. He is brilliant, well spoken, funny and challenging. You will learn a lot and have fun doing it, who could ask for more?
If you are conservative, stay away from this professor. He will lower your grade if you express any kind of conservative views. If you just write about liberal/socialist opinions you'll do fine.
He is very boring and monotoned. His tests are way too hard. He is a nice guy but I wouldn't reccomend taking him.
The class was pretty boring, the teacher is mono-toned, but he grades pretty easily and the class assignments are pretty easy, I recomend him just be patient.
EASY to work with, not too many papers

Dr. Dunn is a GREAT guy! He is super smart, funny, and really wants his students to succeed. He appreciates feedback during class, but does not judge you if you don't like to speak in class. He's approachable, and more than willing to help. It's his goal to make students think outside the classroom, and get out into the world and learn. Give him a chance - he'll turn out to be one of your favorite teachers...and if not, you will DEFINATELY learn a lot!
dunn's awesome!
He's extremely understanding and easy to get along with. Kind of a tough grader, but he'll help you out and let you rewrite your first paper. He's always willing to help.
Gret teacher/Very easy and interesting class. he is awesome!
interesting material, but this man is very boring. It was painful to sit through his lectures. He is a strange person. I would not advise taking him.
I thought I was going to enjoy this class. I took it as an elective and it had more work than all my other classes combined. If you don't like reading, don't take this class. Some of the assignments would only be worth 3 or 6 points. Lectures were EXTREMELY boring. He's too sarcastic. Arrived to class late multiple times and kept the class late.
very intertesting/fair teacher. definitely recommend!
finally a teacher that doesn't let their political views into the classroom......one of the best teachers i've ever had, papers are hard but rewarding
Mr Dunn was wonderful! I learned some very interesting things in this class. Lots of reading, but mostly not boring reading. Is a very laid back professor and will work with you. I would not hesitate to take his class.
take this class! there's a LOT of reading, but the class is very interesting, you basically just give your opinion on everything. the extra credit is really easy, so def do it. its not hard to get an A in this class if you put a little bit of effort in. the only bad thing is the civic activism project, but even that doesn't take too long.
Great teacher. Did like at first, but give it a chance and you will like his Social Problems class. Gets you involved with things on campus. If you do your work, show up for class, and at least try to participate - you will do fine.
Hard teacher, expects a lot. Tons of reading each week and papers that can make you want to pull your hair out. But very personable and always willing to help. Recommend the class, but you better be able to keep up with all the work.
HORRIBLE! don't take this class. he has a lisp, talks out the side of his mouth, and doesn't care at all if his students do well or not. If he doesn't like you, your grades will be bad even if your work is perfect. attendance isn't mandatory, but again, if u don't show up, he won't like u and your grade will go down. CLASS WAS BORING! DONT TAKE!
Rude and impatient. if you ask a question he may just bite your head off. some days he is in good mood, but more often than not he is snippy. papers are hard and he is not a fair grader. class is relatively interesting, but definitely not a personable professor.
He's nice but his papers and test will drive you crazy! This is the only class that I can't ever make an A on a exam. He seems helpful, but can be really impatient with you. I feel like an idiot every time I talk to him. Okay class, but gives confusing guidelines. Okay class, but he'll make you want bang your head into the wall.
I've taken Dunn twice and I really like him. He's only rude to stupid people who ask stupid questions (like something that can be found in the syllabus). It IS a lot of reading, but most of it is pretty interesting. The papers are not THAT terrible, but there are 4. If you're an intelligent person who wants to learn a lot, take Dunn.
boring
Interesting class, teacher kinda sucks. He will stay on the previous week's topics, and he assigns papers non-stop. Gives a lot of data, with out notes on board. Kinda easy grader when it comes to papers, but there are so many. Tests are nightmares. Make sure you're REALLY interested, before taking this class.
I loved Professor Dunn, he talks alot but pay attention and you will be fine. Exams are fairly easy and is a fair grader when it comes to papers.
It's a lot of work and reading but he genuinely cares about his students and provides many different ways for you to be successful and get a good grade. I developed greater interest in the material and his lectures and readings made me a well-rounded, informed student. I truly enjoyed his class. It's worth taking if you care about global issues.
Very nice guy. Seems to love his job which makes learning easier. A lot of readings but nothing unbearable. He likes to assign papers and also get you involved in the school and community. Overall a very nice guy and I would take another course by him
Very nice guy and very sarcastic which makes class humorous. You learn a lot with every class and time always flies by. He knows what he's talking about and always keeps our class intrigued. The readings can be long and tedious but he'll explain them on a more comprehendible level during class.
This class CAN BE extremely easy as long as you do your work and follow his guidelines. He is great at telling you EXACTLY what he wants. There is a decent amount of homework, more time consuming than anything. He's also my internship handler. Easy going, nice guy and pretty funny sometimes
Nice. Passionate about issues. Straight forward and not too hard
He is one of my favorite professors. He is very passionate about the material he teaches and makes it interesting. He also has a great sense of humor. TAKE HIM!
terrible. the amount of readings he gives you is insane. the group discussions he has during class do not help at all and he only talks on points from the discussions and rarely lectures on his own points. i would not take him
GREAT teacher. There is a lot of reading in the class. The few papers that are assigned are not that hard, plus he's an easy grader. Test are pretty straight forward if you follow the outlines he gives you and actually do your homework. Group discussions are a breeze; usually he does most of the talking. Take him!
He's very passionate about his subject, and this translates in his lectures. Social problems is a very interesting class, and he does a good job of covering a range of topics. This class does have a lot of reading involved but the notes you have to do on the readings are EXTREMELY easy so it's not bad at all. Loved this class.
This was easily my favorite class this semester, simply because it was intriguing and Professor Dunn was so passionate about it - you could tell by the opportunities he gave to meet outside of class to discuss what we had learned, and his love for cultural events. It made me love the class, and I hope to enroll in another class of his!
I had professor Dunn for Social Problems 201. It was a very interesting class, definitely one of my favorites last semester. His lectures could be a bit dry at times but he always tried to make it fun by showing videos that correlated with what he was lecturing. There is a ton of textbook reading but his tests were always super easy!
Hands down one of the greatest teachers at Salisbury! He is so kind, and passionate about his classes. He makes you actually enjoy the subject and I would recommend him to anyone. He gives a lot of papers but they aren't hard and he's a great grader. Definitely a must take if you are able to!
AWESOME PROFESSOR. Yes, there are alot of papers. Not hard at all if you pay the slightest bit of attention. Very understanding and willing to give extensions on assignments if you are sick, etc. as long as you communicate with him! Makes class very interesting and fun to listen to. Participation means a lot in this course.
amazing teacher and class he does require a lot of reading but they are interesting. gives a lot of mini papers but its worth doing because it helps you retain the information. All the assignments and tests were not difficult and he is willing to work with you. He checks attendance on discussion days not lecture days.
He's a great professor. He is very clear and organized about what is expected and when things are due. He also goes out of his way to provide resources for students, and is very accessible outside the classroom. It is obvious he is passionate about what he teaches and is a very likeable person overall
Dunn is great! His lectures were almost always interesting. His class is outlined well, so you know what is planned for class and when assignments are due. His papers are easy you just need to make sure you fulfill the requirements, which are clearly outlined. If you do the readings and review your notes the tests are not bad.
Professor Dunn is great. His lectures were always interesting and discussions were entertaining. There is a lot of reading you have to do outside of class but it's fairly easy. Tests are easy if you study the notes and do the readings. Not hard to get an A if you do all of the assignments.
such an amazing professor so the class is easy! as long as you do the readings and take notes during lecture, you will pass the class no problem
His lectures can drag on a bit, but overall very informational. He'll pick a couple random statistics or facts about topics for each test so pay attention.
Dr. Dunn has very clear PowerPoints, and if you go by his lecture outlines before the test you will get good grades on all of the tests. He assigns three papers all of which are very easy. You are expected to go to two outside of class events, and write one page about what it was about. Overall very easy, and a great professor! Recommend!!!!!
Dunn is phenomenal. He is so dad-like and very educated in his field. Lectures are not totally boring but I mean it is difficult to make them fun. His corny dad jokes are highkey funny and he's so chill. Just do all of your notes and you will succeed.
Dedicated professor, enjoys working with students. Lectures are interesting and he makes them fun with his jokes and connections to the real world. Take notes, prepare for tests and you'll do fine-Multiple choice and usually 2-3 essay questions. Few large and small papers, although he gives good feedback and grades pretty easily. Enjoyed this class
Best teacher I've come across at SU. He is very dedicated to his work and the topics he teaches. Gives more than enough information on topics and notes for exams. Pay attention to data given and facts he writes on the board. A lot of reading but not too crazy especially since they are interesting. Exams arent bad at all if you read material!
One of the best professors I've met. Lectures every class, TAKE NOTES. You have to be a group discussion leader on 2 topics, write a paper on 2 topics, 8 readings notes, and 2 civic engagement papers. It seems like a lot but I promise it is not at all, actually pretty easy. For someone who would not typically like this class, I do. Do your work!!!!
I attended one of his lectures on the southern border. His bias toward political party was extremely obvious and unprofessional in my opinion. As a educator I believe it is important to present the facts and not force political viewpoints and rhetoric on young students who are easily influenced.
Dr. Dunn is a goofy man, hes really nice and is always willing to help, hes not one sided on anything in class, he gives a very specific syllabus so definitely pay attention to that and everything on it and you will do well. There are a lot of assignments including volunteer work and going to cultural events around campus
Loved this class. Dr. Dunn knows his stuff and is not one-sided at all, even talking about current events. He knows both sides of the argument and you can really pick at his brain for quality information. I would take him again.
Dr. Dunn was new to this course, but I learned so much from it. There's a lot of reading but his reading assignments are easy. 3 tests and 2 short papers. Reading notes due at the end of each topic. Tests are based on small aspects of the textbook so make sure you read. Overall, if you show up and pay attention it'll be an easy A.

Dr. Dunn gave interesting lectures and attending was required, even though sometimes the lecture was strung out and you could miss 20 minutes before and 20 at the end and be fine as long as you read, but there was a lot of reading and a lot of writing about the readings.
Professor Dunn is by far the best professor Ive had at Salisbury so far. His lectures are interesting and engaging and his teaching style is pretty laid back. the class was heavy on reading but I didnt mind it. His syllabus and instructions for assignments are very thorough. Do the assigned readings and go to class and this is an easy A.
FABULOUS!
Dr. Dunn is a very caring professor, very smart and informed on current events and all arguments for or against current issues. I have found that a significant part of what is tested on comes straight from lecture notes, so write the stuff down. His syllabus is always clear, but you do of course have to read in order to do good on the papers.
Dr. Dunn is a caring professor who clearly wants his students to succeed. However, he is pretty political and one-sided on many topics and may invalidate disagreeing opinions. Professors should be accepting of all views and aim to educate unbiased. Not a bad teacher though and an easy grader!
He is a really good teacher. My favorite at Salisbury by far. He really cares about his students and wants whats best for them. Not a hard grader.
Prof Dunn is very approachable and even offered a Zoom lecture option in this in-person semester that was open to anyone on any day. His assignments aren't difficult, and do the textbook readings for the notes and you'll be fine for tests. DONT BUY THE TEXTBOOK he will give you free pdfs...
Dr. Dunn is by far the best professor I have encountered at SU. It is clear he cares about his students' success and is accessible at almost anytime. Make sure to do the readings as that is the key to an A (there may seem to be a lot some days, but they are mostly easy to read and pretty short).
Professor is knowledgeable, kind, and passionate but his lectures are extremely narrow and bias. He only reflects on his opinions and considers them to be factual. There was absolutely no diversity of opinion in this class. if you value independent thought and not conforming to this world, take it and speak up, or avoid the class all together.
My favorite professor of all time! There was a lot of note and papers but they are all very straightforward and interesting. Dr. Dunn is very kind and caring.
I didn't think I would enjoy this class, but Mr. Dunn made this class very interesting. He gives out plenty of extra credit assignments, which was something I loved as a student that doesn't always do well on exams. He gives extensions if necessary, and all in all just cares about each and every one of his students. Don't buy the textbook!
Would 100% take again. Very understanding, offers zoom options if difficulty making it to class. Grades fair & gives extensions if you come to class & participate. Very knowledgable & passionate about his work & very nice.
Dr. Dunn is by far,one of the best professors I've had. He is very clear and knowledgeable on all of the content he presents and his exams and coursework are fairly simple if you pay attention. He is also very understanding of needing extensions and is always willing to look over things he graded for you.
He is the most kindhearted professor I've had! he grades you on how you understand, not if you have the exact idea as him. He is easy going, great with lecture, and understanding with sickness. I would take him again 100%
I highly recommend Professor Dunn. This class does include several weekly readings, but they aren't difficult. You get a lot of chances to get an A in this class (assignments, extra credit, etc.)
If I could give Dr. Dunn more than 5 stars I would. He has been the best professor I've had at Salisbury, and beats everyone by a mile. He is clear and concise in his lectures, but most importantly he cares about his students and how they preform. One of the toughest years of my life but I still showed up for Dr. Dunns class and participated. 10/10
