Took 2 classes with him. Great teacher. Knows his stuff and is really passonate about it! Highly Recommend!!!
he knows everything about American goverment, helpful. But the test is really hard!!! and that is NOT EASY to pass this class.
Tests are very hard and that is the main grade basis. He is a very fun and interesting person, but doesn't spoon feed anyone. Plan to study, study, study, and still be a little crabby when you see your test grade!
He made lame jokes, but he knew they were lame and that made them hilarious. He was always bending over backwards to help students out. Totally awesome professor.
No homework for this class, and the test is really HARD.
Know Everything about the gov't. Very smart. Tests are hard and only graded assignments.
made really funny jokes, dry sense of humor but really hard test make sure you put in effort and go to class everyday he will notice your trying and take it easy on your final grade
AWESOME PROFESSOR
Great guy, super hard teacher. Takes tests directly from notes...take REALLY good notes and know them front to back and tests will be easy. The more effort you make the easier he goes on your final grade, he notices little details like attendance and participation.
I have Him in my class right now, he is a nice guy, got pretty dry humor but down to it, he is really good at teaching American Government.
Taking his class now. The test are not that bad if you attend class, really pay attention and take good notes, and go over your notes. I make flash cards from the notes and that helps me alot. He's a nice guy, and he just expects students to be there and pay attention, is that so much to ask?
Excellent
Overall easy teacher, but the lectures are long and boring. The quiz and test ?'s came straight off review sheets. You can miss 2 classes w/o penalty
Great teacher, show up take notes and study what he tells you, remember this is college people. Will help you whenever you need it, great guy
I really respect this man. He is very understanding and very approachable. In an odd way, he reminds me of Oscar Wilde, and I love it.
great attitude, great guy. He will always answer your questions and wants you to do well. One of the best teachers I've ever had
Great instructor, relates historical aspects with current events very well. He taught from memory for the entire semester, I would normally be very skeptical of this type of teaching style but he managed to impress me. One frustration: when he hands back tests, he doesn't give back the exams, you can't see what was missed. Attendance is a must.
Hard!!!! that is all i can say
Farrow is THE BEST teacher I have ever had. He is helpful in class and lets you know EVERYTHING that will be on the test. Tests are multiple choice and fairly easy, I had NO problems whatsoever getting a VERY high A in the class. I learned so much, too. I cannot more highly recommend Farrow-excellent teacher!
Really easy class.. If you e-mail him with a question he will take FOREVER to get back to you, if he even does
Not very exciting but he teaches very well. The notes he gives you is enough to do good on the test and you dont really have to read the book.
GOOD TEACHER- i thought he was funny and i thought he was interesting but i love the subject if you don't he would be very dry. Be nice to him and he will help your grade a lot. COME TO CLASS IT IS A MUST!
He is a great guy, humorous at times. All he wants from you is to pay attention to his lecture, take good notes and you'll definitely earn an A. His tests are right off the notes, so take really good notes and you shall be fine :) He is very helpful as well.
I absolutely love Mr. Farrow. His teaching technique is great. He is always more than willing to help his students in anyway he can. He is incredibly intelligent and is quite sexy as well.
Attended every class period and tried to read along in the text for Political Science. Way too much info you had to memorize and too precise. Tests were murder, and quizzes were pains. These were the only things that determined the grade. I got a C or 2.00 from this class. Lowest grade I've ever gotten. Currently a 2nd semester senior at WMU.
I thought i would do ok but ended the semester with a 2.5. lowest grade i've ever received. i had to read the chapters and study the notes hardcore just to get a 2.5. wouldn't reccomend him.
Very TOUGH teacher! Make sure you attend every class and go to EVERY study session he gives. His tests are VERY tricky. Do NOT take if you want a 4.0, because you simply won't get one.. Great guy who knows his stuff.. but VERY hard teacher!!! Would NOT recommend considering I worked my butt off to get a B+ in the class...
Hard teacher, but if you use the study guide you will get a good grade.
The only homework he ever assigned was to read the textbook. Doing so, combined with taking good notes, will enable you to do well in the class. He's not an easy A, but he's fair about grading the tests (drops questions that too many people miss).
You must show up for every class to be able to pass. There is never any homework, but you absolutely need to read all of the chapters at home. Show up, take notes, and read your book and you'll make a good grade.
Very interesting instructor
Boring teacher...Be prepared for taking notes, notes, and more notes...no other grades but quizzes and tests...He does know what he is talking about though...
Really long classes. But awesome teacher when you get to talk to him. Homework is right from the book. And test are right from the Review sheet. He knows his stuff so don't be afraid to stop him after class Great teacher!!!
When I was in his class I hated it! it was sooo hard. Test questions were hard to understand and he never kept notes of his different classes. He would come in and ask where we were at. Now that I had time to think about it, I loved his class! I have learned so many things that I have used in my other classes! Tests are your only grades in class.
This has been the only history class I have ever enjoyed. He is a great teacher that really knows his stuff.
Great teacher, took over mid-semester and made the class interesting.
Mr. Farrow is a great teacher! At first I thought he was super dry and boring, but a couple classes into the course, he started making fun of himself and being really funny! He is also very clear about what you need to study... Basically, if you fail his class, it's your own fault.
He is a nice guy but no fooling around in his class. He walks in, says good morning, and heads straight into lecture on the chalkboard for the entire period. I've been getting low A /high B on tests, but I haven't been reading at all. So if you read like you should be, then I would assume you can get a 4.0. Not the easiest tests, but fair.
know his stuff homework out of book test are from study guides will help you after class great teacher
He is the first history teacher EVER that I have enjoyed and actually learned something from. He doesn't mess around in class, but I like his dry sense of humor. He is really good at making everything piece together to make sense.
Great teacher with a sense of humor. Yes you will have to attend almost every class to recieve a 4.0. Very clear, take good notes and this class will be easy. I never read the book and I ended up with a 4.0. One of my favorite classes of the semester. Awesome guy!
Prof. Farrow is a great teacher! If you attend class and take good notes you can get an easy 3.5 or 4.0. But if you don't pay attention in class you will do poorly. He is very helpful and clear in is lectures. Like a said, a great teacher!
If you take good notes on the lectures, you will do well on the quizzes and tests. Straight ahead instructor, no funny business. The best KVCC instructor I've had.
Awesome professor! During his lectures you will be given the opportunity to comprehend the history and structure of our American Gov System. He is very funny and extremely knowledgeable about politics! Hey.... it’s his jurisdiction! A must: show up, take notes, and study! I LOVED this class! But then Gideon v. Wainwright gives me goose bumps! Ha
He is a great teacher! If you take notes, read the chapters, and study for tests, you will do fine! He is so nice and really does care about his students doing well. He is funny too! I highly recommend him!
Mr. Farrow is such a smart man. He helped me with all of my questions and I learned a lot after completing the course. Even after class, we chat in the halls and he's so funny! Just take notes and pay attention and you're golden.. it's college so you obviously have to do some work on your own time to study. Thanks Mr. Farrow:)
He doesn't teach from the book, but take good notes in class and you'll do well on the exams. He's very helpful and likes to keep class light.
I had Mr. Farrow for American Govt and out of all the classes I've had in this counting high school, he by far had the best approach. Is it dry? Yes, it's history based. But he does make it applicable to today. I cannot stress enough the importance of manners with him. DO NOT be late, text, interrupt, etc. He is a great teacher, very clear.
Mr. Farrow is the hands down best government teacher you'll ever have. He loves what he does and he is interested in helping his students in any way he can. I learned so much in his class!
Mr. Farrow cares so much for his students. He really does want everyone to succeed. I had no interest in government before taking this class, but he made it fun and his stories are very entertaining!
First of all you walk away from this class with a wealth of knowledge, since he is an excellent instructor. But- keep in mind there is no possible way to pass the quiz/ tests if you don't attend class. Attendance is mandatory and most that you are tested on is in class lectures. So just a heads up- don't skip.
If you take notes you'll do fine in the class.
I really had no interest in Political Science but after taking this class, I am a more involved and informed citizen. Mr. Farrow is hilarious, in his own way. He touts himself as being "the world's most boring man" but that is his sarcastic sense of humor. He is anything but boring and you will benefit greatly from this instructor.
Great Professor, explained things in great detail. Helped me understand things I've always had a hard time understanding. Has great stories to tell also.
Mr. Farrow is an excellent and capable professor - putting notes on the blackboard for help & clarity, helpful in answering questions, good at explaining concepts so they're easy to understand, & always willing to help with any questions or issues you're having. He's a great guy, compassionate, passionate, & very kind :) Definitely #1 choice!
Mr. Farrow is an excellent & capable professor - he puts all notes on the blackboard, explains concepts so you can understand them, is always available for aid in & out of the classroom, answers questions & encourages participation. He's compassionate, passionate, intelligent, and very kind :) not boring! Definitely the #1 choice for professor!
Knows his subject so well he never uses notes. Rarely offers a personal opinion. Will help you if you express your need to him. I came away with a much more thorough knowledge of how our government works. If you have to take a poli sci class, this is definitely the one!
Mr.Farrow is an amazing teacher. By the third week of class he knows you by name and will have a conversation with you. I took American Government- So a lot of information but as long as you write notes and read your textbook you will do great! He is awesome- you will enjoy his class!
Tim is awesome! Very down to earth and is interested in helping students succeed. Very friendly as well. I also appreciated that he strived to teach the material as unbiasedly as possible and not just offer his opinion. Class is not hard if you pay attention and take good notes! I would highly recommend Mr. Farrow.
Mr. Farrow is hands-down the best instructor I've ever had. He's Republican (a very nice change!) but he never makes own personal opinions known. He calmly gives you both sides and wants you to actually THINK for yourself. Farrow really cares about his students, knowing them all by name. Several times he sat down with me to talk about my future.
Mr. Farrow is an amazing professor! He offers you up a vast knowledge of political science without shoving his opinions into the mix. Attendance is. To mandatory, but you do miss a lot of information if you don't go to class. Overall, excellent teacher!
He is awesome! He has such a passion for government and current events and makes lecture interesting. You MUST read the chapters in the book because half the questions on his tests are from the reading material and the other half is from notes taken in class. Quizzes are fill in the blank and tests are multiple choice.
The best and most knowledgable prof I've ever had!
He is the best teacher I have had at Kalamazoo Valley.
Professor Farrow plays music from his generation to start the class everyday. He is fun and makes the material easy to understand. His Test and quizzes are straight forward do the the study guide and review before class and you should get an easy A.
He is a great person. He truly cares about his students. I would recommend him to anyone. Be prepared, his tests and quizzes are tough but if you take good notes and take notes from the book, then you shall be fine. He has dry humor and is a really great guy.
He is a great guy. I would recommend him for anyone. Be prepared to take notes during lectures. Study for tests!!!
If you'd like to be indoctrinated into the Right Wing, take his class. If you like teachers who preach their opinions as though they are facts, take this class. If you simply want to learn about American Government, take anyone else's class. This guy straight up lied during the one and only class of his I attended. I dropped the class and got a rea
Great professor. Really knows what he's talking about, and it's great to see such passion. He also has a sense of humor which makes a sometimes dull subject bearable. Don't take this class if you plan on missing frequently as most tests are based on lectures, not the book.
Tim Farrow is AWESOME!!! He really has a passion for what he does and actually cares about his students. I've always hated Gov. classes but he made the class relevant, unbiased, and interesting. He was always willing to clarify stuff before exams and really is there for the students. Would recommend him to anyone!!!
Overall good teacher. Very boring class period, but very easy. Every other class period you either turned in a assignment or had a test for which he gave you a study guide and all of the answers were on it. Class is easy if you do the simple assignments and study for a few.
This is a hard class that requires studying and attendance. However, if you put in a solid effort and show up to every single class he takes into account participation points so you will still pass even if you're test grades are bad. I've never used my textbook and I have a B so far.
Mr. Farrow is a great professor, he really cares about students success!
Probably one of the most interesting teachers I've had! May seem lame but I could listen to him talk about his life all day long. He has such a passion for American Government and cares about the success of his students. I would recommend reading your book, taking notes, and reviewing the study guide before class. He also does participation points.
GREAT PROF! He know's his stuff. Whatever he writes on the board is on your test. The tests are easy if you look over your notes before hand. Super easy to talk to. Has a few 5 question quizzes here and there. Haven't opened the book yet and passing just fine. Take any government with him.
Tim Farrow is truthfully one of the best professors I have had at KVCC. I was not looking forward to his class after finding out his teaching was strictly lecture style, but I recommend this professor to everyone now. He makes it fun, interactive, and interesting. Quite the character too.
He will lecture the entire class period, but he is very passionate about what he teaches so it is not boring at all. You will need to take notes on each lecture. Make sure to attend each class because he goes over what you will need to know on the tests. Tests are very detailed so pay attention and READ YOUR BOOK! Fun class.
What an amazing professor! Lets you know exactly what to expect before each daylesson plan and guides you towards a clear understanding of topics covered. Once you get to know him and his style, he's a blast! If you take thorough notes and read the assigned-reading, you will do well and enjoy it! *If it's on the board, it's fair game for the test*
Mr. Farrow is one of my favorite professors. Your grade is a reflection of how much effort you put into the class. His tests are over all the lectures, he writes everything on the board for students to take notes. He really cares about student success. Very knowledgable professor and pretty funny.
Tim farrow truly cares about his students and is very willing to help. I'm not a fan of government but he really tries to make it interesting. Great professor.
I had Mr. Farrow two years ago for American Government and hands down the best teacher I've ever had. He set the bar very high for current/future professors.
Mr. Farrow is an fantastic professor. He is very funny, and puts the material into your perspective.
very helpful. he can be funny and always finds a way to incorporate his experiences into his lessons.
I love Tim! By far my favorite professor so far. His lectures are interesting but you have to listen well and take great notes, the tests are very specific. Read your book!
Make sure to take detailed notes. You won't pass the quizzes or tests if you don't. Flash cards will help. All he ever does is lecture so make sure to go to every class.
Awesome guy in and out the classroom. You actually learn about your government. Tim is great! Highly recommended. No homework but quizzes and test are from lectures.
Tim is a funny dude, he tells stories and jokes. I loved his class, he lectured the whole time but he does not assign homework and his test are okay if you study for them
Never thought I'd enjoy this class, but he does an awesome job. 90 minutes goes by quick and I actually retain information about government. Grade is based only on quizzes (open answers) and tests (multiple choice) so there isn't a grade buffer. I have taken many other courses but he is one of my favorite professors so far (teaching wise).
I dreaded taking american government until after the first week of having Tim be the professor. He calls everyone in the class by their name and makes sure that everyone is understanding the material. Tim is very approachable and is more than willing to help you. With Tim and the way he teaches I retain so much information that I never would have.
Tim Farrow is very good at teaching material, although the chalkboard can get messy sometimes. He hands out study guides before quizzes and tests, but they only show what you need to review, not the material itself. Attend class or you will fail; he doesn't follow the text. Otherwise, he gets the material across very well and has great personality.
I really liked him & the class! He's a good teacher. He has study guides for every test & quiz which covers them very well. Just read your chapters & take good notes, & you'll be fine. Make sure you go to class because his notes are basically what you will test over. The quiz's are like 10 question fill in blank. & test are all multiple choice.
My all time favorite professor. Would take any class just because he is teaching. Cares about your questions and input. Show up and take notes and you will pass
Great professor who really cares about the students. Entire grade based on quizzes and tests, and must take notes on lectures.
Not a bad person, but I don't like his teaching style. Unless you're good at tests and quizzes, don't take his class. His quizzes are fill in the blanks. I like him as a person, but not as a teacher
Mr. Farrow is such a great Professor. He really cares about the students. There are 4 quizzes but if you listen to his lectures you will pass them all. The first and third exam are the hardest in my opinion. If you listen to his lectures and take well notes you will pass the class. Make sure you learn the three different beaches those are important
Best teacher I've had! I don't like government and history classes in general, but his lectures are really interesting and got me really interested in government! As long as you read your book and go to class you'll get an A for sure!
He makes American Government very interesting and I feel that I've learned a lot thanks to him. He's a very fair grader and make sure to ask questions if you don't understand something.
Did not really like this class. Only grades are tests and quizzes. The tests are all multiple choice and the quizzes are all fill in the blank. Very lecture heavy. Attendance is taken, but not every class.
Tim is an awesome prof. As long as you go to class and listen you will do good on the test and quizzes. He knows his stuff really well and is very transparent when he is teaching. He cares about his students and wants them to do well.
This class is solely graded on tests and quizzes. His lectures are very informative but the notes on the chalkboard get a bit hard to follow. This class is almost all note taking. He is a great guy and if you work hard he will work just as hard to help you succeed. You must show up to each class if you want to pass and reading the text will help!
His lectures cover what the book does not. He gives a few quizzes but goes over them instantly. He gives added bonus of points at the end of the semester based on attendance and participation. Has a lot of experience and tells fantastic stories.
Just finished my first semester at KVCC. Tim was by far my favorite teacher. He is so caring and wants you to pass. Talk to him and joke around he's quite funny. He wants you to succeed and will do what he can to make that happen. Don't miss class because its all based on lectures. He made the lectures very fun though, I will miss him.
I had him for American Government. He is definitely one of the best teachers I've had at KVCC. His lectures are amazing, and he is hilarious. Just make sure to take good notes and do the reading, and you should do well.
A lot of reading. Make sure to attend lectures or tests will be hard.
Tim was great, his lectures were very detailed and entertaining and prepare you very well for the quizzes and tests, provided you take notes. I didn't crack open the text book once but the online tests often pull the book so don't make that mistake.
He is amazing!! Definitely made the morning class worth going to. I opened my book maybe 3 times. Pay attention in lectures & dont be afraid to ask questions. The more he knows you the better.
He is a very nice teacher. You can tell he cares about his students and wants them to succeed. This is a very lecture heavy class with only quizzes and tests for your grades.
Very test and quiz heavy, rarely uses the textbook.
He is lecture heavy and his notes make no sense. He doesnt go over the proper material for upcoming test.
Worst teacher I've ever had, he only has tests and quizzes in the gradebook. If you ask for help, he will tell you to look at your book, even though you don't use it at all.
I'm a history major and didn't pass Tim's class, passed the final; but not the class i feel robbed
I have never had a worse professor in my life. He only cares about what is convenient for him not his student. The tests are very difficult because he try's to cram so much on to them. Lastly because of the virus we had timed tests. One was 30 minutes an 45 questions not even a minute per question. He's a nice guy but an absolute awful professor.
Farrow has been, by far, one of the best profs I've had at KVCC. I took his class when we had to move online due to the virus, and he made it so easy. He genuinely cares for his students and wants us to succeed. The tests and quizzes aren't difficult if you actually pay attention and study. He's a really nice guy and an amazing teacher.
One of the best teachers at KVCC tough but very fair.
Tim Farrow is an awesome professor and he really cares about each and everyone as an individual and will help you anytime! Definitely worth taking one of his classes. I took an in-person class with him and it's definitely the way to go. His handwriting is a little messy on the board but if you listen to what he says you will be fine. Great prof!!!!
Tim was a good professor, dont spend money on the textbook even though its required (passed his class with a 86%) I found it useless since everything I learned was in lectures. He only grades quizzes and test due to the pandemic, however the study guide he posts on canvas is almost similar to whats on the test. Attendance is required to pass.
Mr. Farrow was my first professor at KVCC and he is amazing. You will be hard pressed to find a professor that is as good as he is. If you have the opportunity to take any class he teaches, you should absolutely take it.
What a cool guy! I had Mr. Farrow online during the brunt of the pandemic, where he posted helpfully in-depth lecture videos. It's clear he took a lot of time to set his students up for success. I recently ran into him on campus in person and he was very grateful I stopped and said hello; he gave me a fist bump! Very cool guy, glad to have had him.
Mr. Farrow was a great teacher! Only quizzes and exams were graded. The text book was useless if you listened to lectures in class so don't skip! If you listen, take good notes and study you'll do just fine.
My favorite professor I have ever had. Genuinely cares about each student and is all around a super nice guy! His lectures are pretty easy to follow since he writes most everything on the board. Grades are based on test and quizzes but if you pay attention and take good notes you'll do fine. 100% recommend and 100% would take again.
Farrow was extremely accessible outside of class and very understanding.
Mr. Farrow was an amazing professor! He seems to really care about his students even through an online course. You are supposed to read textbook but all questions on exams were answered from lectures. I enjoyed his lectures so much that it made me excited to learn about our government! Lectures are video recorded and not live. Favorite professor!
Really cool guy. I didn't even buy the book because I just took really good notes in his lectures. Be sure to come to class though because his lectures are everything you need for his tests. Never assigned any homework so it is a test-based class. This class is something that I am very interested in though so it came very easily to me.
Mr. Farrow is an excellent and personable teacher. His passion for the subject makes his lectures interesting. He knows what he's talking about and has the life experience to be able to personally answer questions. The class is very traditional, though, so do be aware that learning will be accomplished through the lecture+reading+exam style.
He wants to see you do well! The papers are very easy, but just make sure to cite everything. The exams and quizzes are difficult and you must prepare for them. Otherwise it will be difficult to be an A.
Great professor. There is a lot of reading in this class and multiple lectures a week but he really does try to help you succeed and get a good grade in his class.
Mr. Farrow is a good professor and is very caring, but the class is mainly composed of tests. The tests are very specific with answers you would have to memorize, with no open notes. He does not offer extra credit. Make sure to study for every test and watch every lecture.
Mr. Farrow is an amazing instructor. He is well organized, communicates expectations to students, and is an overall caring instructor. I would highly recommend taking a class with Mr. Farrow if you have the opportunity.
Overall I enjoyed Mr.Farrows class. The class is composed of 2 papers, 4 quizzes, and 4 tests. It is important to do well on each since you are only graded on those 10 assignments throughout the course. Reading is heavy and long with 30-minute to 1-hour lectures throughout. Reading is a must or you will not pass the assignments.
Farrow is a great guy. His class is very manageable, and he is very caring about his students and their success. He is also very understanding of life circumstances. All classes are lectures and note taking is a must.
ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS PROF, very funny and charismatic, likes to chit chat before/after class and actually build relationships with his students. No extra credit(might give some if you sit in front row during 1st class), lecture heavy (but not boring) and only 5 quizzes and 5 exams graded, no homework to pad grade so study up. TEXTBOOK NOT NEEDED
This professor was awesome!!! I loved him he was funny, interesting, and the best of all this class had no homework!!! he tests were not too hard and gave study guides before the tests. I would definitely take his class again.
I really enjoyed his class. My advice is to study for Tests and Quizzes because that is mostly what he grades. He is very lecture heavy but he doesn't use the book in class. However there are lots of questions on the examinations from the book.
He didn't give any homework but always gives you a study guide before the tests. Explains things simply and understandably.
Professor Farrow is an amazing teacher. Highly recommend! My grade came mostly from quizzes and tests with only one writing assignment. He wants you to succeed and welcomes questions. His lectures are interesting with some humor and real life stories thrown in. Pay attention and take notes on his lectures, study and you will succeed.
Professor Farrow's class is lecture-heavy but engaging. Textbook is a must, plus Unstuck AI and ChatGPT helped with study prep. Exams are challenging but doable if you stay on top of the material.
Good teacher
Mr. Farrow was friendly, patient, and genuine. He had a good sense of humor and kept things interesting. He was willing to work with me to meet outside of office hours to clear up my confusion. I would not buy the textbook, we hardly used it. I doubt I will need to take a class with him again, otherwise I would do it in a heartbeat.
You can tell he really cares about his job. He gives you study guides for quizzes and tests. Just make sure you really know the information. He likes to do scenarios instead of straight definitions on tests. Also, lockdown browser is required. I received extra credit points for one of his papers too, very nice guy.
Lecture heavy. The tests were hard, but if you study and make sure you know the material, you'll pass. The website for this class was a difficult to navigate, but once I figured it out, it's simple. Every time I had a problem, he was always willing to help me. It's a difficult class, but if you just contact him and ask for help, he'll help a lot.
