Very knowledgeable. Double Doctorate. Difficult class but if you have to take it he's the man
VERY HARD CLASS!
This guy is horrible don't take this class, his class is extremely hard and he doesn't offer much help.
He is indeed well schooled in the subject, but he also grades like he thinks everyone else is too. I would recomend his class only if the grade is less important than what you learn.
The overall calss was not hard but the way the information was presented was horrible. It was a non stop monotone lecture every class. My advise, Don't take this class.
extremely boring lectures everyday. dont take him.
He knows his stuff but he is EXTREMELY hard. If want to fulfill a humanities or social science requirement do not take his class. It will drag down your GPA. On the other hand if you are studying history and want a university level professor he is that.
He's a little boring at times but if you take good notes you should be able to do well
easiest history i've EVER taken. if you take this class, take it online though. he gives you all the questions to the final and midterm beforehand so you can easily ace them.
hes okay...
So boring. Not worth taking this class with this teacher especially if history isn't your thing in the first place.

very unexpressive! - monotonous face and voice, and makes dry jokes that are hardly ever funny. Sometimes can be nice like letting a paper be due at the end of the quarter instead of 3 weeks b4, but can be mean like making you prepare for a test and final on the same day = 25 essay questions!
if you dont have an interest in history dont take this class online. pretty laid back but he does not respond to questions for about a week and grades fairly hard on essays. i wouldnt recommend this teacher.
One of the best teachers I have had. Most everything that is on the test, he discusses in lectures. He is open to answer all questions and is very helpful. The tests are difficult but he gives you more than adequate time and materials to prepare. He grades fairly and based on one's writing abilities.
Worst prof I've ever had for history. Streight lecture class. 2 essays and 3 tests sounded easy enough. I loathed going to this class every day.
This class was really hard! There is lots of reading and lots of writing to do. He's a hard grader, and doesnt always explain why he docked you points... you have to work really hard- but getting an A is possible.
I took his class online, and it was by far the EASIEST history class i have ever had. besides 3 tests and one 7 page paper, you only have to write short essays or essay responses once a week...other then that, theres reading, but you can just skim and be completely fine.
I took him for "US In The Global Age" He singled students out, he is a monotone speaking drone, he is the only one who laughs at his jokes, and he expects you to know more than what he is teaching!
He was ok... I guess. I took it online, and it was a LOT of reading. If you're going to take this class, be prepared for that. Also, the final and midterm were very difficult.
I took this class online and it wasn't very difficult. You have to read a lot and really can't procrastinate, if you do all that you're guaranteed to pass with a good grade. He gives all exam questions in advance, and although there's a ton of them, you still get to find answers before the actual test.

He is VERY mono-tone. Unless you like a teacher that only lectures and expects you to know useless facts from the book. Dont take ANY class from him.
Boring. Monotonous voice, all-class lectures....NOT interesting. Definitely doesn't make it fun, either. Difficult because it's so hard to stay awake and actually show ! x.x ....If it was up to me, he wouldn't be teaching. Yes, harsh.
dr.hienrichis is just ok. too many lectures... however, on occasion, he can make these lectures interesting, but he hops around too much. so far...he is just ok.
I took this class online. big mistake. maybe if I had taken it in an actual class room it would have been better. If you take it online, be prepared for a LOT of reading. I would not recommend this class for online at all. be careful...
I took this fall quarter of 2003 and it was horrible. Because of his teaching style, my fear was history classes. I'm usually a great student, but he was just unclear and not helpful... he'll attempt to "help" but it gets no where... it confused me more!
baddd teacher!!! His lectures are very boring and unclear. A lot of readings that doesn't make sense to me. He didn't give us any direction for the final paper.
He lectures for a majority of classes but will occasionally throw in a video. Take good notes in class, read your text and you should get an A no problem. He gives out 50 multiple choice questions and like 7 essays before the test, 25 of the multiple choice questions are on the test and 2 of the essays. Basically he gives you the test.
Challenging instructor, to be sure, but fair enough. I took this course online in the spring of my junior year and did ok. Just make sure you read the text do what he says, and you'll be fine.
Lots of work. he gives you the test before you take it so you could look up all the answers, but it takes a long time to find the answers.I couldn't do all of the reading but i was fine with just reading the primary sources and barely read the text.He is picky on posts you make though.2 exams and one 2000word paper with 4posts 4 responses.
The classes were always lectures. At first, they were engaging but they became increasingly boring and hard to stay awake during. Good teacher. The final was the scariest part--I flunked it because he chose two essay questions he hadn't sopken much about. Will have to take him next quarter and drink coffee before class in order to stay awake...
Better the second time around, but also worse since he knew I'd taken Hist 202, so I think he had higher standards for me. I barely squeaked by. Will not take him again. Decent, yeah, but just not one I would take again.
I took his class in winter of 05 and I didnt really learn anything that I dint't know. If you dont like lectures DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!!!! cause he talks the whole class, I noticed after the first few weeks had passed less and less students showed up to class on a regular basis.
k their is a really easy way to get an A in his class if you KNOW WHAT TO DO! basically, you go online to the class website and upload the TEST Questions and the the ESSAY questions and just study that the whole time! yes its true he has all the test questions online, and then just figure them out in class and youll PASS!
Heinrichs's a GREAT teacher! He lectures lots but uses music/visual aids 2 help students understand time periods they're studying. Gives a REFRESHINGLY UNBIASED approach to history. The TESTS are 25 multi-choice questions& 1 essay question. He gives60 questions that could be on the test beforehand & picks 25 of them-same deal w essays! LOVED IT!!!!
Don't take this class if your looking for an easy grade. The lectures got to me after awhile, so if you absolutely hate lectures, this is not the class for you. Majority of students either dropped out or did't show up until test time. If your a student who does work on time and very detailed about events, times ects and this is a goood class for yo
hes nice funny and has some humor in his lectures but you gotta have a stomach for the lectures, i didn't really read the text book since he memorized the whole thing and said it in class lol which is helpful, also he doesn't care if you as an individual come to class but he will throw in some pop quizzes every once in a while so people come.
He is boring and moves like a snail.
I took the online class. Straight forward, weekly essay posting OR response posting. The final paper requires research, get to the library EARLY because other kids will check the books out before you get to them. Online lectures are long. Gives out possible test questions/essay questions ahead of time and picks some from that list.
Great for online classes because you can read the lectures instead of hearing them. Always posts very helpful study guides for tests, and doesn't care if you essays are poorly written as long as they have good content. Knows a lot about american history, is funny, and gives you the history without the bias many other professors and textbooks add.
I took the online course. He's a hard grader, but knows his stuff. You will learn a lot. The online lecture notes wre much more interesting to read than the text, AMERICAN PASSAGES. Gives a list of 60+ multiple choice and 12 essay questions on study sheet for midterm and final. Takes test from those. One big paper and weekly 400-word essays assigne
I think that you really have to have a great attention span for his lectures, but if you pay attention you learn so much!He is a great teacher who really knows his material and is very understanding and helpful. I would take his classes again in a heartbeat!
He is very knowlegable but EXTREMELY boring. he talks with an assumption that his audience is filled with historians. Only half of his lectures actually helped me answer the multiple choice answers. I just couldn't stand how he teaches. The lectures are dead boring. Take this class if your a good listener and dont need much visuals or action.
Very boring and slow talker and very slow mover. He knows alot about history in general, not just certain topics. Lectures every class.
At first I didn't enjoy the online class but towards the end I got the hang of it. Be sure to read American Passages, the lectures, and the articles he provides for the weekly discussions. As long as you know your facts in the discussions, you'll do well. Also for the papers, and use primary sources for those as well.He responds fast to any questions
Smarter than the average bear. This guy knows what he's talking about, possibly as well as Haslam. He gives you 100 Mult Ch questions and takes 25 of them for quizzes. That worked better for me than Haslam's giving a vague idea of what to look for. Either way, I'd reccomend him as highly as Haslam, if not more so. Take his class.
Online: Heinrichs is not so good at online teaching. He takes a long time to respond to anything, and didn't even respond to some of my questions--needless to say it was frusterating. Also, he uses a different format on blackboard so you never get notified of new postings (very frusterating), also, he isn't very clear on improvements he wants.
Tim is a great teacher, he's incredibly smart, and despite his quiet demenor, knows more than he lets on. I've had him online and in classroom. I highly recommend taking him in person, as the online class was unremarkable. In person he is dynamic and engaging. Only tests on what he lectures, and he lectures with enthusiasm.
Poor teacher. I had him for online history, he either took a very long time to respond to questions or never responded at all. Instructions were foggy and he didn't give much feedback on assignments. Also, used a weird format online and so you never know of new posts or responses. Overall, I thought his teaching method was very frustrating.
I enjoyed that the class was taking notes on his lecturing on USH with a quiz every week or so. He is very knowledgable and a good teacher. I did not enjoy that his grading seemed haphazard and random, and that our entire grade was basically on essays we wrote in class in 7 minutes or on the exams.
easy professor. dont use books that much. lectures can be found online. really boring. bring food and eat during class.
WORST teacher ever.If you are not crazy interesting about history, then i suggest u DO NOT take his class. He have LOTS of homework and he expect you to learn by yourself. The way he teach is horrible. Most likely he is talking to himself and he talk like a robot seriously.Beginning of the class is about 45students.After 8weeks only around 20left.
You need to earn your grade. Many say the class is hard, it really isn't. Hard? No. Boring? Yes. He lectures extensively and assigns a lot of reading. HOWEVER, he grades fairly easily. I personally had no interest in history (and still don't) but I aced the class. I earned an A on mid-term, Final, and various essays. Take if if you are dedicated.
He was a very nice guy, and knows history very well. His class wasn't very hard, but you need to keep up with the readings to do good. He gives everyone a fair chance. Honestly, I didn't read one chapter of the book, and just crammed for the midterm and final before hand and got by with a b-. with a little bit of effort, you can do amazing.
Tim really knows his stuff but is not always the best at conveying it to the class. I'm a history major and I generally do very well with it but I found it difficult to register what he said during lectures (which are every, single class period). He is very nice and easy to approach for help though.
VERY UNDERSTANDING. Work:2 essays (or 1 long one), midterm & final (gives 80 mult choice questions & 12 short answers a weke before. Uses those exact questions(40 mult, 5 essay. Use pick 2/5) 4 DQs due throughout quarter.Lecture notes are online and exactly what he says in class. Nice guy and he knows history. very easy class if you do the work.
i took his online class and omg he is the most boring and unclear teacher ever his online formatting is very different and he is very confusing doesnt reply for days and you dont learn anything in his class i dont know how he is in real classes but virtually he is the worst teacher ever
Great teacher, very knowledgeable guy. He has Parkinson's which is why he moves so slow, but he deals with it pretty well. He's very understanding and more than willing to accommodate extenuating circumstances.
LOVE him. Such a cute old man. He makes jokes during lectures and its hard not to pay attention.
Took this class online. There was a great deal of reading, many many essays, and the tests were poorly made.
He was very fair to all the students. Graded fast and had good feedback. Even though it wasn't a fun class to go to I still learned a lot and am happy I took this class. Recommend him for history. Better than some of the other history profs.
great professor! recommend him!
Cool guy, good at teaching. He is very kind and answers questions. The only issue is the speed of the class. His speech is a little slow making the class somewhat long. Over-all good professor though. I would advise taking the class if you are very interested in History.
Heinrichs is the best teacher I've ever had! His texts are interesting, essays aren't too terrible, and is a fair grader. As long as you're willing to put in the effort, and get to know him, you'll have no problem. He's a fun teacher, and makes me excited to go to class everyday. I would most assuredly recommend him!
I don't love history. This class was quite boring. Sweet teacher, I liked him as a person, just didn't love listening to his lectures. He was flexible when i had to miss 2 weeks of class due to an extreme illness. tough class though, tests are difficult.
Still in the midst of this class, which I'm taking online. There's a lot of reading but the textbook is good. Lots of communication about what would be on the midterm and decent (if brief) feedback about my papers. I'll probably get an A or A- but I did work very hard on the essays & paper. Don't expect to get an A without making an effort.
very sweet man. love his class. he definately knows his stuff and keeps me on the edge of my seat about the most boring parts of history. Fair grader, laid back, but I am learning tons! taking his class is very worth your time!!
Terrible lecturer. Will make you fall asleep. Somewhat vindictive, if a lot of students skipped class, expect a pop quiz on the next day. Readings are extremely obtuse and difficult.
I never met the man, because this was an online class. His grading system is not clear. There were some things which I submitted to the class that got a B grade that (upon review) appeared to be much better written than things which got an A grade. It really didn't make sense what I had done wrong and replies were vague. He did always reply though.
Terrible teacher. Took the class online, loved history, excited, wanted to learn. Teachers mean a lot to me and he ruined the subject. Maybe just online. Useless, doesn't know anything, doesn't give valuable feedback. Wouldn't recommend him except class is required. Good luck, hopefully he'll retire soon.
Since I'm taking this class online, I've never actually met Prof.Heinrichs. However, I believe he is a good teacher and a fair grader. His lectures had me cracking up - good subtle use of humor. Lots of reading, tests decently long, (look for prep sheets before, though!) etc., but he's always willing to clarify grading criteria if you ask him.
The most unorganized online class I have ever taken. Not sure I have any clue on how he grades. One day I get an A when I didn't even try, next I get C when I put effort. Very vague in his responses and not much help. Not sure what I expected, but it wasn't this. Probably would steer clear of this Prof. for my next history class.
You really have to work for your grade in this class. he is very boring in class, and makes attendence mandatory. dont skip class too much or else he wil take away points.
I took his online history class as well as 2 others and his was pretty much useless. He had no interaction with the students. He did email you back after a few days, but that's it. He is a hard grader and wouldn't explain why he graded you low or exactly what he wanted in the first place. I basically paid to read my own textbook. It was pointless.
Online- I'm surprised he is getting bad reviews! I thought he was great! fair grader, very approachable.to get get a good grade, just do the reading and don't miss deadlines. It's not that hard at all. Half-effort and I've got a 98%. He also offers EC if you ask. This is my easiest class, I have no idea what other people are talking about
He was a great teacher, very easy to understand and get along with. Had an awesome experience in this class. He will meet with you and help you, also IMPORTANT: he gives study guides with the exact same questions and answers that are on the final. Take them, study them and memorize. You'll get a good grade for sure!
Took his online class. He's organized and knows his history. Not very involved with the students online though. This wasn't necessarily bad though. I worked decently hard and got an A.
I took the online version, and this class really just runs itself. He rarely interacts with us, and it can be difficult to get responses from him to direct questions. There is no public discussion forum for students to interact, let alone the instructor. I could have had the same experience buying the texts and not bothering with the class. Very frustrating quarter.
Online class. Books used were clear and lecture notes easy to understand. Instructor would reply after a few days and not always clear in answers. For your essays be clear, simple and use specific examples. Make sure you ANSWER the actual essay question. It's not an argumemntative essay, stick to the tone he has set. I got an "A" you can too!
Teacher is very uninteresting in lectures. He's a bit monotone and it's just about impossible to consistently pay attention. Not a bad guy, he's very patient and generous, he's just a bit boring. If you're able to stay focused you'll do fine.
awesome teacher! he's well prepared for his lectures and wants you to succeed in his class. textbook was frustrating to read during midterm/final because it's not chronological, jumps from different time periods/ events. make sure to keep up with the readings nonetheless.
Try to avoid this teacher the best you can. Nothing against him personally but he is incredibly disorganized. I don't know how he does in a class-room setting but online it is a mess. Everything is extremely unclear and he juggles the class between constant use of 3 different websites. All directions are contradictory, unclear, and buried in files
The worst prof I've had!! Avoid. I'm an A student and I put in a lot of effort and will be lucky if I get a B. Taking it online - you do everything alone, there is a lot of writing (almost like an English class really). I've been angry everyday for taking this class - don't do it. You will regret it. Unless you are ok with a C. They should fire him
Took his online summer class. Allot of material covered in the class. There was a ton of reading from the text, but the lectures did a good job of summarizing and highlighting the important information. Grading was average. Overall a good class and decent professor.
He doesn't prepare any material, and to be quite honest he's rude about telling you when you make a mistake. The quarter isn't over, and I have probably a B+, and I am a n A student. He's unhelpful in giving information, doesn't actually teach, and then grades unfairly and hard.
Takes a month to respond, worst teacher I ever dealt with. If you ask him about something he wont give you a direct answer.
I took his online class, the worst. This could possibly bee because he's handling so many classes. but he doesn't reply to emails for days and when he does, no more than a few words. The book is BEYOND boring. Do all your work and you can do well but dont expect him to help u at anytime. I used to enjoy history, i regret taking it.
For the online class, if you read his lectures, and write the essays on time you will do well. He doesn't give much feedback, but the class format is great. You will learn some interesting stuff, while getting a good grade at the same time. I would recommend him if you need to take history.
Material itself was quite interesting but he has NO idea how to make use of the online tech- barely readable notes (had to use custom css to not go blind), aggravating layout (way too complicated to get to the disc. board), inconsistent links (new window vs same). Utterly unclear on what he wants content-wise, even when asked. Would NOT recommend.
HORRIBLE. I am an A+ student and he just does not know how to teach. You can't hear him even if you're in the front. He paces anxiously and his class attendance was significantly worse than mine. Do no take this teacher if at all possible.
Class is extremely boring. He is very unclear about due dates and changes them constantly. The lectures in class are wordy and don't make much sense, he goes really fast and it is very hard to keep up. Grades very hard. Not fun class. Wouldn't recommend professor.
He was great
I had him for online history and it was honestly stressful. He wasn't clear about anything and wasn't consistent with grading. Essay or response once a week, along with a term paper, midterm, and a final. He screwed up grading a lot too. He's a little hard to communicate with too. I'd take History with someone else.
online:nice teacher.rocky start because of the switch between Vista and Canvas-after everything was settled there were still issues with correct posting, but he would fix things if you asked him about it.Hard class because of detailed information required in posts and tests-but prepares you for future courses.Work hard, and he will appreciate it
I think that the online class for history is a very bad idea. The online system is extremely disorganized and the first week of the quarter no one really knew what to do. Common broken links to wrong lectures, its a mess. The professor seems to go on only once a day and does not reply to emails often. Very bad history experience.
Do NOT take him at all! Online class with him is terrible! Very unhelpful, hardest grader, never gives full points, no extra credit. Sure it's one assignment due per week but its an essay and it really affects your grade. Only at his office once a week and always changes the time. If you want to pass Hist.140 with a good grade, do NOT take him!
Do NOT take his class - especially online. Links rarely work, assignments are scattered, little to no feedback on assignments, and he fails to mention much about anything - he didnt say a thing about a 6-7 paged paper until I personally messaged him about topics. Even then, no public announcement about it. I do not recommend him to anyone.
So I am in this class right now and it is not good. I'm getting a good grade but everything is so all over the place! it's crazy! Online is awful because he never answers messages or clarifies anything. especially recently on the term paper. it's a big deal and I never got any of my questions answered! Its pretty easy though.
Agree with most of what everyone has said, but it's pretty easy, just not totally enjoyable!
Just finished this online course. He is TERRIBLE with clarity. A lot of broken links to the documents for essays. Overall the class is very easy. He accepts late work which is cool (only a point off for each day late). Bad with messages. If you ask him a question he won't answer for days, and without a helpful response. Only take if you have too.
This class was a really interesting but sometimes goes by really slowly. He told us at the beginning of the quarter he had some type of illness where he forgets things a lot. But if you talk to him and get to know him he's super chill and more willing to work with you (We were able to convince him to push back our mid term if you convince him)
This was a horrible class. No clarifications on assignments and little to no feed back on assignments.
He is a very strict grader, while viewing the highs and lows for everybody I noticed he never gives a perfect score on anything. He is also inconsistent with grading. The class has a lot of reading and 3 books are required for his course. 1 response per week. 1 essay every other week. 1 midterm. 1 five page term paper and 1 final. Do not take him!
super nice guy but he talks kind of slow,so unless your very interested in history it's hard to pay attention. His essays assignments aren't graded to harshly I had no idea what i was talking about and i got an a on all of them. But his mid-term and final are hard. You write two essays and have multiple choice too. exam prep is very helpful
He is a very strict, and unhelpful teacher. His grading is very random, and he doesn't seem to truly 'grade' your assignments, but rather give everyone an average grade. Never received a perfect score on anything in his class. He is very unhelpful when you email him, and seems annoyed. Lost of reading and rough midterm/final. Don't take him!
Very disorganized not helpful at all. Didn't provide any feedback and didn't even seem to really grade assignments. I felt like he would just give me random scores. Never responds to emails, and the course was full of broken or unnecessary links.
Great class but horrible teacher. This is my second online class with this professor and both have been the same outcome. Completely unorgarnized and can take weeks to respond to questions, if at all. Many lectures posted to read are not even the correct ones. No consistency on grading and rarely leaves comments. He does not participate. Avoid!
This is the worst teacher ever. Any question you ask WILL NOT be answered, he does not respond to any emails or messages. His grading sucks, and is VERY inconsistent. He doesn't give clear instructions and docks serious points for "requirements" he has never mentioned. Even if he's the last resort, do not take him. Worst professor EVER. Avoid.
This was really unfortunate. I was excited about this class and this professor did not respond to many questions and concerns, had a huge challenge with the technology that is used in an online class, I had to remind him to tell the class that a 200 point essay was due one day before it was due, and he tries to cover himself up by lying. Not fun.
History has always been a passion of mine and this teacher just ruined it. I had to email him three times about documents that were required reading but the links were nowhere to be found. Due dates were inaccurate and were clearly uploaded from a previous course as the Final Paper said it was due at the end of the next quarter. STAY AWAY.
This was a challenging course but this professor made it worthwhile because you learn so much in a couple of weeks. Understanding teacher and helpful.
This class was easy enough to pass, but the professors had very poor communication skills and did not have any material up to date. Also, he is a pretty hard grader, and does not explain his reasoning for the grade.
This professor is terrible. He grades with ridiculous standards, and has no regard for social justice correlating to modern history. I literally was docked points on my final term paper for utilizing civil rights references. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. I only took him for two history classes online to be transferred to my university and it was NOT worth it. If and when he gave reasoning for taking points off of my grade, he left a snide comment about my worldview. Not how a teacher should act. Also you can totally get through the class without paying $200 for the books.
The class was boring but extremely easy. You have two tests, the midterm and the final. He gives you a study guide well before the tests which includes several writing prompts (you have to write 2 essays) and multiple choice questions. All the questions and writing prompts on the actual test will be from the study packets word for word.
Never taking another class online because of this teacher. I didn't know what assignments were due and when because he would never email me back or update the calendar. He would randomly take off points on my essays without any reasoning behind it and doesn't give helpful feedback. The homework load wasn't bad but the assignments were hard.
If you are planning to take online history PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD don't take Mr. Heinrichs. He is very disorganized and it makes figuring out how to do your work very difficult. He is a very strict grader and even when I follow his feedback to the letter, he still will give me grades I don't believe I deserve. Save yourself the time!
Worst teacher I have ever had. Ever. He could care less about you and makes up all these excuses as to why he hasn't graded any material. He changes assignments all the time and NEVER emails back. I probably emailed him 20 times throughout the quarter and heard back from him twice. He's rude and demeaning and I would never take this class again.
This was by far the hardest class I have ever taken. It was extremely time consuming and stressful. Expect to read excessive amounts out of the textbook and to have a paper due every other week as well as a writing assignment between them over the material. It is difficult to get answers to questions as well as feedback, he offers little help.
Dr. Heinrichs is unclear about what is supposed to be done with the homework and then grades much harder than any other professor I have had. He said our essay had to be a minimum of 250 words and told me my 264 word essay was to short. there are only two tests and one paper, but you have to do the reading in order to complete them.
If you're reading this wondering if you should take his class, take any other class. Literally any other class. Absolute worst teacher I've ever heard, you WILL NOT learn. He throws you random dates and events in sporadic order & speaks in half sentences. The finals are long, answers only online, not from his course. Weekly essays and 3 textbooks
There is TONS of reading. I found it very frustrating that due dates were different in different areas of canvas. The grading was all done near the end of the course so there was no feedback on my assignments to help me improve on future assignments. Also I emailed the professor near the end of the course and never got a reply.
I took online history with Tim and had absolutely no idea what was going on the whole time. I never knew what we were supposed to be reading and the writing prompts were vague. i spent a lot of time on each of my essays and still received low scores without any explanation. Whenever I tried to message him about it, I got no response.
I hated this professor. AVOID! The directions were never clear and when I would email him asking questions, he would never respond or answer using a 'yes' or no'. period. He gave harsh grades for essays I spent a long time on, and his feedback made no sense whatsoever. I rarely used the textbook, instead 5 steps to a 5 (APUSH) is the book to use!
DONT DO IT
Horrible teacher, I took an online class with him and the whole time I was confused about what we had to do in class, not to mention his syllabus is horribly written. I have learned NOTHING from this class, everything was unclear. Do NOT take a class with this professor.
Mr. Heinrichs is unclear with his assignments, gives mysterious and unhelpful advice when asked, and spent the whole class delivering very long and dry lectures. Much of the material in the lectures doesn't show up on the tests, and the things that we're tested on only appeared in the textbook and were not mentioned in class.
super unclear, not a good teacher, assignments were very unclear.
Heinrichs is a very boring and unclear instructor when it comes to the one big paper. There are two test and one big primary source paper. He is very unclear when it comes to the paper. His lectures are long and boring and go all over the places. He also sometimes messes up the facts.
A crap load of readings but you could afford to skim most of them. Tests were pretty easy if you read the assignments, especially since they were open note. The paper was a pain as the directions were really vague. Not the worst class, but there are definitely better ones.
The class is quite dreadful if you're not into history. Throughout the quarter, I did not understand what was going on and there were times where students would just leave the class because the lectures are quite dry and long. There is not much to do, 2 papers that aren't too difficult if you follow directions. Overall, didn't learn much.
This was the worst teacher I've ever taken. He messed up the midterm grade and failed about half the class. I'm a running start student and I was put on academic probation for a class I should have gotten a B in. Luckily I fixed it with administration. He grades harsh, but messes it up anyway, so it doesn't even matter what you get. Worst ever.
We had a midterm, final and like one paper. I didn't really learn anything, I just did the very few assignments and passed just fine. He seemed kind of distant and not very engaging... If you want to learn and participate don't take this class. If you just want to pass and do the bare minimum then take this class.
