Funny guy, but doesnt talk about history very much at all! he just gos off on wild tangents about how we (the students) are pathetic and he is to smart for all of us. If you want an independant class where all YOU want to do is read. Then be my guest. You will never learn anything listening to him. In this class the book is a very good investment

I think he's a great teacher. While he isn't always specific and clear on what he wants you to do on assignments, he is a great lecturer. He makes you think about history in approaches that you've never thought of before. He's very sarcastic and cynical and it adds character and spunk to his lectures.

Pretty intelligent guy. Definitely knows his stuff but is insanely biased towards certain people, figures and events. Watching him use a handkerchief for a kleenex is nasty. I managed to get an A in his class in spring 2003, which is amazing because I rarely went. Do the reading and you're golden.

i really like his lectures...it's funny when he gets realy pissed off at idiots in history. he hates woodrow wilson. whoever posted the comment about malone's handkerchief probably uses styrofoam cups and doesn't recyle

Very good lecturer. He is very passionate about history. His lectures are extremely informative as well as funny, as many of them are full of genuine Timothy Malone stand up comedy.

Mr. Malone is one of the best teachers I've ever had! He makes history very interesting. He's an easy grader, and he's funny as hell. He talks to himself and is constantly off topic, but you can learn a lot from him.

Tim Malone is a great professor at ECC. Very entertaining. He sometimes goes off on little tangents about what he dislikes about the particular subject on his mind at the time which can be very akward. Other than that I enjoyed him and he is fairly easy. Took HIS151/152.

Malone was the worst teacher I have had in the last two years. He is rude, sarcastic and cynical. He goes off on tangents all the time. It is difficult to determine what he is looking for in his assignments. I would never take a class with Malone again.

Tim Malone is one of the best teachers out there. He is a pretty easy teacher and tries to make history as fun as possible by making jokes and telling his opinions to things. He is a great teacher. Most of the tests were take home essay tests but they were only a page maybe two long. I would totally recommend him

Ugh. horrible teacher. attendance required. I did the same work on all three current event papers and I got an A, B, & C and a C on the midterm cause he didn't agree with my views. Only C I have ever gotten.

Lottts of out-of-class writing in his class. The lectures are all talking and blabbering, time goes so slow. If you're bad at writing, don't take Malone.

The only important event per Malone was WWI and it's effects on Vietnam. Definitely not what school catalogue write-up about the class is supposed to be. This guy's humor is insulting students capability and intelligence. He can't understand why students won't respond to his questions, who wants to be insulted or put down.

His humor includes making fun of students and your not sure if he's joking or serious but if you want an easy blowoff class take him. He has 3 assignments due the entire semester but if you can't write don't take him. If you can write and want EASY take Malone. But you wont learn much of anytihng since he rambles on about unrelated topics...

He tends to make fun of students(jokin around). Alot of outside writing which are hard bcuz hes not to clear of wat he expects. Book not necessary only for ch28 quiz at end of sem. Doesnt tak attndnce but rememebrs if ur absent.

Mr. Malone is highly recommended as a teacher. He is very knowledgeable and PASSIONATE about history. His lectures are always interesting and fun. If you show up and do your work you will pass. FYI don't mention anything about Woodrow Wilson. as Malone would say, "Don't run as a peace candidate and go to war."

Interesting guy. he is very passionate about the subject and very opinionated. Just agree with his opinions when writing and you'll get an A. The grading is ALL papers, which is great. I did not scored below 90% on a paper because he is such an easy grader. If you can conform to his opinions for a couple hours a week, take Malone. If not, dont.

He's a pretty good teacher, good sense of humore. Also, not really big on homework, and excepts late assignments pretty liberally. Would definitely recommend him to anyone taking a history class at ECC

I laughed out loud a couple of times during lecture, which rarely happens. His grading is tough though, so when he tells you what you need to put in a paper, put it in. Also, he loves footnotes, so use those. I was probably 1 of maybe 2-3 A's in the class.

He is probably my favorite teacher at ECC. I took two of his classes and loved it! You never have any tests, but write a lot of papers. He is really funny but some people just dont get his humor. You can tell he really loves history and knows a lot about the subjects. Definitely recommend him!

Mr. Malone was an awesome teacher. Im no fan of history but i had to take the class; fortunatly he made history as good as it can be. He has a good sense of humor. Every class was a lecture and for th most part, the only thing we had to do was write a short essay over the topic we discussed in class. We had a total of 6 current events too.

Mr. Malone is by far one of the most sarcastic and funniest teachers I have ever come across. It seems like many people did not understand his humor, though. His expectations are clear cut and expects you to put forth the effort. I started off poorly but finished with an A in his class. I would definitely take Mr. Malone again!

all i ever got back were B's on my quizzes which are typed up essays.always 1 point away from an A.seems like he grades based on if he likes you or not.i worked hard and spent time on my assignments & never got higher then a B.don't take this class if your not the best writer or if your schedule is packed

Malone is a funny guy. he assignments are all small essays they are pretty easy but you seem to only get an A if he likes you, you dont need to show up everyday but it will help you cause he grades your attendance points

I can honestly say I did not learn anything from his class. He goes off on a tangent way too much, with nothing about history! He also comes off extremely rude and sarcastic. However, having no tests was a plus!

BEST TEACHER EVER!! His is sarcastic but I think in a humorous way. The class is very easy and it is easy to get an A. He talks alot and may seem boring at first, but dont loose focus because the class will get interesting. I took history 170 (Illinois history) and I highly recommend this class and teacher.

I took four classes with Mr. Malone. There are no tests, but there are occasional take-home quizzes in which you're expected to write a short paper. If you don't want your grade to be decided by your writing, don't do a Malone class. His humor is pretty cynical but I learned a lot from his classes. Mr. Malone has been my favorite teacher to date.

Mr. Malone is one of the best teachers ive ever had! He doesn't give you tests, instead take home quizzes that are graded basically on length and the material He is sarcastic but it makes the class interesting! He knows that hes talking about and truly cares for his students! Just a little effort goes a long way, he is "THE STUDENTS FRIEND!"

Took class as a tele-course. Assignments were just watch a 30min video and write 1-2 pages. I got really behind in the class, but he gave me a month extension and I got a B for the class.

If you hate writing papers then don't take Malone, plane and simple. He's not a bad teacher and you will watch a ton of movies in this class. Easy class just take some notes pay attention to any videos you watch and summarize what you read/watched and you're golden. Plus side: He gave us a handout for a book so you don't have to buy one

Awesome teacher! He gives you his full expectations on the first day, which aren't very high. Be prepared to write, and write a lot. We had a some form of writing due every week. As long as you make the attempt to try, you'll get a c minimum. Very helpful to the students, love his sarcastic sense of humor!

By far one of my favorite teachers. His teaching style is definitely unique so if you're looking for a typical this you're in for a surprise. A lot of writing involved in the class but he's very reasonable and flexible. He makes class fun and interesting.

Malone is a very passionate teacher. He is extremely knowledgeable and uses it to make class fun. There are a lot of writing assignments (at least 1 or 2 every few weeks) but they aren't difficult-the papers are more opinion-based. Don't ditch his class a lot because he will notice. I would recommend him.

Mr. Malone is a very passionate teacher. Mr. Malone is helpful and knowledgeable in his subject area. All of his quizzes, in my class at least, were in written essay form; however, I think his main purpose in having written assignments is to get students to think critically.

Boring class. You will barely take any notes, and that is because he talks about off topic things the whole time. His grading is frustrating and inconsistent. He is very egotistical and will openly ignore students. Everything is written. Everything. Good luck taking him.

Wouldn't recommend. Goes on tangents, extremely sarcastic and biased. Unapproachable if you need help, vague explanations. Expect comments on papers like "ok, I guess, for this assignment". Don't learn anything in class (mostly it's him rambling about his egotistical ideals) . Need to read the textbook to pass. "Lectures" are awkward and irrelevant

Malone is probably my most favorite professor I've taken here in the past 4 semesters. He's definitely passionate about the class. his assignments are mostly essays, but the longest one we had to do was 800 words, and its mostly opinion based. Shows TONS of great movies. likes to get the class involved quite a bit. Accepts late work all semester.

I loved this guy. He kept me interested during every class. We studied a lot about the 2007 economic crash so it's current. Quite a few little papers, but it's not bad. I would love to have another class with Mr. Malone. I was genuinely sad that the class was over. He doesn't assign a textbook for the class either which is a plus.

Malone is clear from day 1, he lays out the syllabus and sticks to it. All of the tests and quizzes are take home essays that you have a week to do. He can be a tough grader, but he's fair with everyone. Overall, Malone takes a genuine interest in his students' success, recommend him for sure.

Malones History class was enjoyable. You never did work in class. The only work you would do was his "Quizzes" which were actually small essays. He tells you what he is looking for when he grades, and he's a really basic grader. Learn what his point of view is on a topic, and write your paper that way for an A.

Easy to understand, knows exactly what to expect from you. Provides power points for notes but majority of your grade will come from writing 2-3 page long papers on movies/documentaries in class. Overall great teacher and really passionate about American history, economy and many other things as well.

Irregular grading style, and he gives little-to-no feedback on the essays you'll pump out about once per week. Otherwise, he's an awesome lecturer. Lectures are kept entertaining with his dry humor. Other than the essays he assigns as homework, there isn't much else to do. Very laid-back and easy-going teacher.

He is very enthusiastic about history and you can tell that it is important to him. He often raises his voice and sometimes leads to screaming when talking about certain topics. But it's rather funny and he gets the point across. Awesome preoffessor!!! I will take more classes with him

I thought American Civilization seemed awesome but it turns out to be really boring. Mr. Malone is a really easy teacher and I like that because I just wanted an A in a history class. He's nice but I thought he was really boring since I always feel like sleeping in his class. You do more essays and practically no tests. You watch movies a lot.

Never gives out F's; allows for all late work to be turned in until the final day. He doesn't give out homework, only "quizzes" which are take-home essay prompts that are about 1 & a half pages typed. He is very sarcastic, but overall caring towards students. If you give him what he asks for in the papers, he will give you an A or a B.

Malone is a very funny guy. Regulary cracks jokes and has a great sense of humor that some might find not funny. I had a few friends that didnt find him funny at all, and some that thought he was hilarious. You do have occasional 2 page papers, nothing crazy. Bring in current events every once in ahwile. And maybe 2 tests a semester. Very easy.

Mr. Malone is the worst teacher I have had in a really long time. I am a 4.0 student and the class I took with him was a complete waste of time. He cant remember where he left off in the lecture so we spend hours repeating learned content. Also dont expect to learn anything other than off a power point. If your smart, dont take him

I think you'll either love or hate Malone. He's sarcastic and really old school, which I thought was hilarious. He does tend to repeat things but that just made class easier. He's very clear on what he expects of you, which isn't much beyond turning stuff in on time.

I liked him and his sense of humor, very funny guy. I wasn't a fan of his side rants, and political opinion that he threw into what he taught. There we're a good amount of papers, and he didn't really give any feedback on how to make them better. Malone is a good guy, the class just wasn't great.

We all know community colleges are biased but this guy takes the cake. Thus far, the entire class has been him going on tangents about how race is a "social construct", Donald Trump, and white supremacy. He has cited no facts or statistics (except dates) and frequently goes off topic about his personal views. This isn't a history class.

Mr. Malone is the best teacher I have ever had, period. He is a natural storyteller and he shows his love for history every day. I have taken American History part 1 and 2 with Mr. Malone, and I decided to take his third class just because. History is now a life long hobby for me. Thank you Mr. Malone!
