Very understanding Prof. He actually knows that we have a life beyond college and sometimes things come up and is very eager to work with you. Highly recommend him if its your first year cuz his teaching style is very easy and makes wanna think about certain subjects willingly not forcebly.
I absolutely loved this class. It totally rocked. Tim is the coolest and always eager to help. The essay's were entertainig and forced me to think. I would love to take it over. By the way he totally looks like Al Boreland from Home Improvement.
One of the best english teachers i have ever had...and i hate english. You only have to write 5 essays the entire semester. He was very cool and understanding. I learned a lot and i deffinatly recomend him!

I REALLY DIDN'T LIKE THIS TEACHER. HE ONLY BASES HIS CLASS ON AMERICAN CULTURES, AMERICAN WAYS, TRADITIONS, BELIEFS ETC. HIS CLASS SHOULD BE LIKE AMERICAN HISTORY OR SOMETHING. HE GRADES HARD. I GOT A C IN MY PAPER WHICH EVERYONE THOUGHT WAS AWESOME. MY FIRST C IN COLLEGE WAS FROM MR MELNARIK.
I took only a day or two at most to write the first paper and didn't even proofread it (I procrastinated) and got a B/B- ...and it was for my elder sister XD
No, no no. Do not take this teacher, that's all I have to say. Whoever wrote those "good" comments about him must have been teacher's pets.

very boring, goes into too much detail that doesnt apply, too much about the history about disney, still dont know why english is about disney
Awesome Professor..he is very passionate about teaching and has very good topics for essay writing..HE LOOKS REALLY HUGGABLE!

really bad
Understandable guy with not so understandable writting prompts. Pretty fair but grades relatively hard. Wasn't all that impressed allthough you could tell that he was trying. So-so none the less.
pretty unprofessional, didn't return half of our assignments, the other half were returned within the last week of class, I could go on about the Disney thing but thankfully the Watts book made it a bit interesting
After this class I was sick of Disney, but my writing has imporved. Mr Melnarik is a pretty tough grader, but is also very helpful (if you ask he will read early drafts of your paper and expain to you, how you can do better!)Some assignmnents are pretty unclear, but if you have a responsive class lectures can be pretty helpful. Great!
He's a very boring guy. He lectures a lot and some of his lecturing does not even relate to anything. He can go on and on while sitting there being bored out of your mind. You don't do much in his class, but he surely gives you essay here and there that would be due in 2-5 weeks. You dont really need to buy a book for his class, if you do.. you don
He is easy. No homeworks, but essay once every 2 weeks. 4-5 Essays throughout the semester. You don't need to pay attention, he doesn't care. He just lectures, boring. But when he's done, he'll let you out early! Oh yeah, you don't need to buy a book! I recommend if you want an essay and chill class!
Easy Teacher, writing prompts are all related to Disney. He helps you alot in your writing..he assigns book reading, but you dont have to do it at all!!!! mid term is easy..i recommend having a strong background in Disney..this will help alot in your essays with him..the only downside to this guy is that everything! is Disney related
He is a really good teacher! I loved how everything was about Disney, it was really easy for everyone to understand. The prompts are a bit hard to understand, but I recommend taking his class. And I agree, he does look very huggable!
Although he gives a lot of freedom on topics to write on he is a little redundant on the Disney topic. It isn't an easy class to get an A in. ALso he returns past essays way too late.
He didn't talk about Disney in my class. He was helpful if you asked for it. There was a tendency to give papers later in the end of the semester. Homework doesn't seem mandatory, but it helps to read, because he asks questions and wants feedback. It is hard to get a good grade in his class. You have to really try, but I'd take him again.
Melnarik's a great guy, but he can get boring. He can ramble on about things, but you gotta hand it to him, he does have a sense of humor. It's hard getting a good grade on essays, and both midterm and final are in class essays.
A very worldly and interesting professor. His class revolves around the ideals of Disney and their correspondence to those of America. Although this is a unique and exciting way of analyzing American culture at first, by midterm you will have discussed Disney so much that the mere mention of it will likely make you cringe. Otherwise, it's great.
He made me hate Disney. He doesn't teach you anything useful & expects you to write like a pro (with 2000+ word essays!). I'd really love to read one of HIS essays and see how well he writes... DON'T TAKE HIM
Overall a good professor, tries not to be boring, he's kind of funny. Class is pretty good too.
Melnarik's an alright professor in my opinion. He gives you a pretty basic set of standards. If you don't follow them, you get an F but that's kind of obv, he gives youa chance to redo it though. He focuses his class on Disney which is really fun. If you know your basic english from HS you should be fine. Hard A moderate B, easy as hell C
I hated this class. It was so boring and pointless. All he talked about was stupid Disney. He doesn't teach you anything at all. I think he should be fired.
Very nice, very helpful, strict on attendance, flexible with assignment dates. He's definitely a good teacher. Explains things clearly. You wont suffer.
I hate this class!I hate Disney too. Don't ever want to go to Disney again. It's useless. If you are crazy about Disney, this class is perfect for you, otherwise, aviod him!
Don't do it! Save yourselves!! I had a low A in his class all semester & just cause my final term paper was not to his liking, he gave me a C! I have since received A in Eng 1B and 1C but am still bitter because he affected my GPA with his stupid C. I worked my @SS off and did his rewrites. He is unfair and uninteresting. I earned at least a B,
this teacher is ok.he really not that bad--REALLY!he is extremely nice.he dosnt really give out homework/test/quiz.like for real man -takin this class i only remember doing like 3-5 homework.in his class there's no test..jus midterm/final THATS ALL!for ppl that dont like doing homework and takin test-you should really take this class
alright teacher--doesn't talk about Disney stuff any more--that sux--i love Disney stuff--but o well, overall he is a good teacher--pretty easy teacher and nice..he'll help you when ever you need help--another thing is ..you can always reach him on his e-mail--unlike some professor they don't even reply to you ..i mean whats the point of telling th
Prof Melnarik isn't that bad. Nice guy. He explains and goes over all the reading that he assigns. perfectly planned syllabus give on 1st day of class. 4 essays, in class midterm and final. Learned a lot about Disney
he is a great teacher...his techniques are very helpful...if you like to write...I encourage you to take this class
I took both 1A and 1B with Dr. Melnarik, and enjoyed both of his classes. His 1A class focuses heavily on Walt Disney, so be prepared. Both classes require you to enjoy/be adequate at writing. If you want your writing to improve, you should take this class.
this is the best english teacher ive ever taken. he helped me so much and encouraged my writing. if he teaches next semester ill take him for sure. TAKE HIM :)))
I don't like this professor. I tried really hard this semester such as doing my essay early but end up getting C's and even a D on my paper! Pisses me off. I would never take him again!! he repeats the same example lectures all the time. and just talks too much through the whole class period!! which makes people want to shot themselves. don't take!
He is a nice professor, but he grades really hard.DO NOT BUY THE BOOKS because you wont even need it.He loves to talk.He talks about disney. His class is boring.
This professor is nice, talks alot. His class is pretty hard. he grades hard. i managed to pull off his class with a B. but i tried really hard. dont waste your money to buy the books. theres only one book that you may need.. for ur midterm&final, but u dont really need to use it. its all logic. he talks about Disney alot, i liked the topic tho.
Great teacher. The books are used to clarify what he is looking for and for examples. His focus on Disney and pop culture is interesting and informative. If you apply yourself and work hard, you will do well. He loves his craft and wants his students to succeed. He is always willing to help if you ask. I highly recommend him. A+
he's a great teachervery well organized and is willing to help out I suggest you take him! I took him for english 400, 100, and 1a
I loved Prof Melnarik. He is a really sweet guy, super laid back. In-class discussions were interesting and learning about Disney was fun! Some days we just watched Disney cartoons. I would definitely recommend him. Super easy. Super nice. Pretty fun but some classes were long. You dont really need all the books, just SOL and Troubleshooter's Guide
easy teacher not bad at all laid back and chill DONT BUY THE BOOKS SAVE YOUR MONEY TRUST ME
I love Prof. Melnarik. I took his winter class. Fun lecture, fun class, fun paper, in-class midterm & final, and easy A^^
great teacher!! Focuses on Disney. Gives great paper assignments too. Not boring AT ALL. Makes English class understanding and even fun.
Prof. Melnarik is an extremely intelligent and yet approachable guy; he's down to Earth. He's obviously very passionate about literature, but also contemporary American cultural anthropology of a sort, using very interesting and engaging course materials. Melnarik will bring out the best in your writing. I would recommend him in a heartbeat.
Not a bad class, alot of work but as long as you keep on top of if you should be fine. He is a down to business professor who doesn't waste a single minute of time. Lectures can be intersting but also long at times.
Dr. Melnarik is a very good professor. He is always ready to help his students and gives good feedback in rough draft papers. his lectures sometimes run long and can be boring but they can also be very very interesting. i would strongly recommend him for 400-1A
hard grader
HARD GRADER!!!
Very helpful and creative teacher. Grades hard, but makes you watch good movies. Enjoyed his class. Take his class!
English lit can be very daunting but he helps clarify the text a lot. Uses very amusing/funny, "street"/our-world examples haha. Passionate about what he teaches, and if you get an F on your paper you can rewrite it for a better grade &drop the F! This class has kind of a lot of reading, but overall it's not too hard. Def a good teacher to take!
Great teacher actually! Take lots of notes. I honestly didn't read but I managed to get B's in EVERYTHING! So go figure! But he's a nice guy!
He is a nice guy but a very hard grader. Theres a lots of reading. there's three essays and two in class essays (midterm & final)plus simple in-class writtings. The down side is that you wont know what your average grade is until four week before the semester is over.
When it comes to grading essays, Dr. Melnarik is pretty tough! He is super super helpful when it comes to asking for help on essays, just visit his office hours! And if you are able to write at college level English you should be able to pull off a B. An A requires a bit more work..(A essays!) Otherwise, his class is very interesting and enjoyable.
Just took his winter class, he focuses on Disney cos we all have some experience of it so we don't have to research from scratch. He's quite a tough grader but is extremely helpful, so don't be afraid to ask questions! Dr. Melnarik is amazing, he truly expands your way of thinking and knowledge, you'll be so glad you took him.
Extremely helpful teacher. hard class, but always had interesting lectures.
Hard class
Pretty interesting class and great professor compared to previous English courses. Very hard grader but extremely helpful. The only bad thing that comes to mind is that he is a slow grader. But if you have the opportunity, then take his class. You'll also learn a lot about Disney~
Dr. Melnarik is a nice guy and his class can be entertaining. There's a lot of reading involved, but if you pay attention you should be fine. He's a hard grader, some people got nailed on their essays & some like me got nailed on the tests. My advice is to start thinking early on about what works you want to choose for your essays/tests.
Dr.Melnarik is a great professor with an interesting class. The main focus of his class is about Disney and their influence on American culture which makes the readings interesting. I found his grading easy and straightforward. As long as you do what he wants in the paper and write it in an academic tone and have good style, you will be fine.
the BEST professor at PCC, it is a lot of work but your writing will definitely improve. It was actually fun writing essays about Disney related stuff and you realize how much it does impact our culture. Word of advice, use the readings as support for your essays~
I love this professor he is very helpful. Easy to approach, and very straight forward. His Papers all make sense and are very easy. His comments on essays are very good, and helpful.
He is the worst professor I have ever taken! He's rude, very hard to understand because of his lisp and he holds grudges against the students. It's as if he wants you to fail his class. The class is all about MONSTERS! Dracula/ Frankenstein. Hi grades very harshly. He thinks he rules the school and that he's the best professor there is
He is so helpful. i learnt alot about disney and pop culture in his class english 1a . we had to write 3 papers last one was a research paper. he is avery hard grader.i work full time, and i got B . overall the class was fun.
There are just 3 essays and 2 tests, with flexible topics. You don't need to read everything, just sample and pick out what you think will make for a good essay. The key to his class is choosing your topics early on and going over your ideas with him as much as possible. He's a friendly teacher who's really respectful of his students.
He is extremely professional and very helpful. Mr. Melnarik was always on time to class. He is very well organized and very clear and to the point. He gives you enough time to write essay and helps you refine your papers. If you want the A you have to work for it and put all your effort. You get what you put into the class.
BEST ENGLISH PROF EVER. He's really nice, really funny, and you learn a LOT about DISNEY. Every assignment is somehow related to Disney - yes, even final and midterm! His extra credits are if you can ask him a Disney related question and he doesn't the answer, you get a point! His class can get a little boring, but the movies are worth it.
Very knowledgeable, pretty lenient grader. Took him in the summer, and those daily three hours just flew by. Funny and engaging, and doesn't put students on the spot if he thinks you're not listening (let a girl sleep in my class - after all, it's her grade). Highly recommended. Great teacher of a lousy course.
Great professor, this class and the essays are about Disney and American culture, it was some what difficult and passed with a C. But overall, he is a good and helpful professor.
Great professor who knows everything about Disney (even the most obscure facts)! The class was centered around Disney so our midterms, finals & assignments were about Disney and pop culture. He makes class as interesting as he can and he gives great feedback on every assignment. Not a lenient grader but definitely fair---you get what you deserve.
Dr. Melnarik has a simple system for his literature classes; you read a series of stories and write 3 essays and 2exams on them. As previously stated, the key to his class is choosing what you want to write about as early as possible and going over your ideas with him, asking him as many questions as possible. He is funny but not an easy grader.
If you love everything Disney this is the PERFECT class for you! He's great at using examples from Disney and life to give you a better perspective on what he's teaching you. He is a little tough when it comes to grading papers but you will become a better writer then from when you started.
Melnarik is fair; he may not be the most engaging English prof but I appreciate what he has to say and his willingness to hear other people's ideas. His lectures are long but he can be funny.
He is very friendly and is great at communicating to his students, you don't do anything in class but learn about Disney and watch films about Disney. Since he taught based off Disney, it was annoying when he's grade you low but you didn't learn too much, BUT he gives about a paragraph of feedback on papers-- Lets you re-write low scored essays !
Pretty standard course: 3 Tests3 Papers and lots of reading. He lectures the entire class and I am not sure if he is just boring, or if it's the material that is a snooze-fest. I compared my graded paperstests with classmates and his grading scale has no rhyme or reason and seems a bit punitive depending on the student's style of writing.
His course is based on monsters. His grading is very tough; for every essay I received no more than a C. Pretty sure more than half of the class had Cs too. Reading does matter a lot, get his books. Long lectures and no breaks. No other assignments besides the 3 essays. Hard to participate during class because he covers almost everything himself.
Haven't been in school for over two years, tried my best on the papers and got passing grades so I've got no complaints. He may be a tough grader but he's fair, gives great feedback, and answers all your questions thoroughly. Lectures are long, but pretty interesting in most cases.
You get what you give in this class. Very brutally-honest grader; 3 papers, a midterm, and a final. All papers intertwined Disney and Pop Culture together. Class lectures and discussions are about the reading & frequently we watched Walt Disney films and documentaries throughout the course. Overall, he's a real nice guy and a fun course.
Dr. Melanrik was a tough professor, he is definitely not an easy A class. You will learn a lot. He focuses a lot in pop culture. He knows everything about Disney! Which makes the class interesting & fun. His lectures are long, but very helpful. He is a tough grader and gives a lot of great feedback! you must do the reading!
Prof. Melnarik is a very tough grader for me. His lecture is pretty interesting and it is all about Disney and Disneyland. Be ready to put a lot of efforts and learning some writing skills. I am not a native speaker, and my grammar is not very good, which affects my writing grade in his class. Love Disney? Take him. But get ready to do hard work.
I took Professor Melnarik over summer and since the term was short, we had to do many essay's but they were pretty easy because mostly his topic is about Disney even though he say's it's not going to be. His class is pretty easy, the reading's are not that hard but you do need the books for the in class essays. He gives good clarity on feedback.
This class is all connected to Disney and what it means toAmerican culture. We have great class dissuasion sand making our essay topics about Disney takes the scary edge off of them a little bit. He is a little unclear with his feedback on your eassays but overall a very good teacher and a fun class to be a part of
All around good and knowledgeable professor. Three 1000 word essays, three written exams. Clear and thorough lectures that spark fun, interesting conversations in the class. Extremely fair grading, follow the prompt and use your head and you'll get the A. Great learning environment .
I LOVED professor Melnarik's class! I have never been able to say that I've "adored a class" but I can definitely say that for his! I took his Disney class and I can honestly say that I would take it again if I could. I love everything Disney, and if you do too, I would HIGHLY recommend taking his class. He's nice, hilarious, and approachable.
An extremely tough grader compared to English 1A, he expected English 1C writing when most people expected it to be English 1B level. Class title is very misleading-- it says "Introduction to Mythology" but it's only Arthurian stories. I was absent 3-4 times and he gave me a 0 in participation, despite explaining my troubled situation to him.
Professor Melnarik was the best English professor I have had. I took his course during the summer. If you like Disney then this is the class to take. If you hate Disney then this is the class to take. The essay prompts are open to your own opinions as long as they are relevant to the prompt. He cares about his students and is easily approachable
As a first year college student he's very good at showing you how writing in college should look like. He uses Disney because it's something most people know about in his lectures. He ties it into American values. Office hours are extremely helpful he tells you exactly what your paper is missing. 3 essays one midterm one final.
His English 1A class doesn't offer a huge workload, but instead requires you to do what you're given right. The course is mainly graded off a few papers throughout the semester and you better try your best on these because this guy a tough, yet fair grader. As for the class itself, it's interesting most of the time but the lectures can feel long.
I took Dr. Melnarik's Disney & American Values class and I LOVED it. His class is very fun and you learn a lot about the history of Disney as well! By far, the best English class I have ever taken. His essays are very fun to write and give you a creative and fun look on writing.
I absolutely loved this class. Its mainly focuses on disney and american pop culture so it is very interesting. There are three essays, one midterm, and one final, but he is very flexible with the prompts and really gives you freedom as a writer. He is always willing to help if you need it. I would highly recommend taking his class.
barely touched the textbooks. (over $200) all he did was talk, and his comments on the papers didnt make sense even when you asked him about it. its really unclear what's expected and if its not exactly how he wants it you're going to get a bad grade.
Very tough grader. Judges your entire grade off of 3 essays and 3 exams. Lectures are crazy boring and he goes until the last minute. Very nice guy but takes everything very seriously. You can't b.s. anything. Wants you to pass, but doesn't make it easy at all to get a good grade. Plus unbelievable amounts of reading.
Soooooooo boringgggg. He lectures the entire class period while everyone is falling asleep then pauses half way through to ask a question that no one is awake to answer. He's a very tough grader, if you were an A student, now you're a C. It can be very insulting. Dreadfully boring, nothing but lecture.
You better take 1C before taking his class. It's the most frustrating class I'v ever taken. I wrote ten responses and two essays, yet I still kept receiving "C." He could just tell us how to write a good paper in class, but he didn't seem to care us that much. He taught like a robot with little flexibility.
Professor Melnarik is a solid teacher, he doesn't belittle students beliefs during class and tries to keep the class upbeat with anecdotes. However, I feel like he is a tough grader. For reference, I average papers between A's and B's, passed ENG 1C with an A and yet he still gave me a C on all three papers. I suggest you ask him to revise papers.
I went to his office hours COUNTLESS TIMES for him to revise my papers, yet I still received C's . His lectures are long and boring.
I took Professor Melnarik English 1A class during the summer and his class was interesting because it's related to Disney. Lots of essays to do but very understanding topics. I would recommend this class.
Took this in the winter. He does half his job correctly as this is somehow an English class. Yes its about Disney but it focuses heavily on Disney and hardly ties into being an actual english class. Pretty much had to learn from the book on how to tackle certain essays. His grading is random at best and classes arent very engaging.
I enjoyed this class immensely. Granted, lectures are a bit dry and long, but you really do learn a lot about writing strategies. You have 3 essays, a mid-term, and a final. He is somewhat of a tough grader, but you can get an A on a paper as long as you stick to the topic. Take this class if you're a Disney lover!
He is a tough grader but he'll read your paper before you turn it in if you ask (HIGHLY recommended). Homework isn't bad & you don't have to read to participate in class. Go to class because he gives 10 in class writings throughout the semester (they're easy) & are an easy way to boost your grade, but will hurt it if you miss them.
He is one of the best profs at PCC. He is super informative on Medieval Lit, and I really enjoyed his 46A class. He is somewhat picky on essays, but he's always willing to proofread and give feedback. He requires 3 essays outside of class, and 3 essays in class
I took his ENG1A "Disney" class. It's Disney-themed for accessibility across generations and nations. He's a harsh grader, but his criteria is extremely clear, and spends a solid portion of one class explaining it in detail and giving examples. He has us do peer review with the same criteria in groups the class before the paper is due.
Based on monsters, his class lectures focus on the deconstruction of the monster. Each essay has a word count and increases in difficulty as the semester progresses. Although this is the case, if you seek it out, the professor will do everything in his power to ensure you can deliver college-level work.
Professor Melnarik is awesome! He focuses on Disney and American Values which made the class super interesting. You have 3 essays. Go to his office hours, they'll help you get a better grade on essays and attend the peer reviews. If you fail the essay, he lets you rewrite it! You can tell he doesn't want you to fail!
I thought this class was going to be fun and interesting, but the lectures were so dry and the essays were ridiculous. There is homework, 10 in-class writings, 3 essays, midterm, and final. It's an easy A for some, but I wish I would've taken a different professor.
I am a straight A student and I was so disappointed to get a B in this class. He really isn't on students' sides. I got an A on every paper yet got a B from one mediocre grade on an inclass essay. Most people did really bad on the essays. Only take this if you're great at english. Liked the Disney part though. Thanks to him he ruined my A record
lectures are dry and boring. if you take his class, make sure you come in early because if you are 1-5 minutes late, its gonna affect you.
Loved Melnarik! I thought he was funny but in a corny/dad way. I feel like writing isn't my strong suit but he is not as tough of a grader as some of the other comments have stated in my opinion at least. He is also very understanding. There's quite a bit of reading assigned but you can get by without.
This is an advanced English Lit. class that expects you to critically think and properly compose your thoughts in an academic manner. You should've already taken English 1B or 1C if you are not taking it concurrently while taking this class. To pass, you have to read; that said, the prof will give all the help you need if you go to office hours.
The class was average, we did have to sit through a lot of lectures where he just talked the entire time. He is a really tough grader though. I love to write and Ive never gotten below a C on a paper, and he was the first person to give me a bad grade. The topics may seem easy but you have to really go into detail about what youre writing.
The professor was okay, but if you are taking his class online everything will be really confusing. The professor would upload a powerpoint with pictures and not explain anything. Work was confusing and unclear lots of spelling errors in his work. Midterm and Final was an easy essay for the class but he always would take long to grade assignments.
After the lockdown, he didnt post lectures. His class basically turned into 1 easy HW assignment every 2 weeks, and 3 essays throughout the semester. Its not a literature class, his basis was on American superheroes and their impact which I thought was really interesting. Hes kind of a tough grader however, mostly gives out Bs. I recommend him.
Mythology is one of my favorite subjects, and yet, in spite of this, I found myself learning less than I hoped in a class to encompass it all. Intro to myth was mostly Greek studies, and we did not particularly delve into anything that is not commonly read. Furthermore, his grading of papers left me dissatisfied with no way to remedy or learn.
Don't take his class if you don't want your straight As destroyed. You will probably get a B. no joke :)
Approachable prof. But don't take the class if you have options. It's tough to gauge what he wants from your essays. He was very extreme in how he graded my papers; he would either give me a flat out F or an A. It's good he at least accepts essay rewrites because, trust me, you will have to rewrite at least one. His lectures are needlessly long.
There are three papers to write, each going up in word count, not including the midterm or final. Just sat through the entire lecture while he talked. And is a harsh grader. Don't take it unless you need to. Participation is needed if you want to pass, and attendance is mandatory.
He was the goat ngl, do the bare minimum and you will pass no problem so if you are a tryhard you can 100% get an A
This teacher's lectures can be really long but if you do participate and pay attention, he's really good at asking the questions important to answering your essays. Realistically you can get by using sparknotes and copying what he talks about in class and maybe add a bit more depth into those ideas. Grades the essays really harshly though.
Very harsh grader
He was really nice and understanding. I didn't think he was a particularly tough grader and he was very clear about what he wanted. There is a lot of reading so make sure you stay on top of it 'cos it'll really pile up. He lectured a lot and it wasn't really helpful to me. There were three essays, two essay exams and short, weekly writing prompts.
Be prepared for ineffective 2-hour lectures with a monotone voice. 3 essays, 15 in-class writing assignments, & peer-review grading assignments. Lots of reading. Never uses Canvas for grades so you'd have to email him about your grade. Harsh grader with unhelpful feedback. I'd advise you to take someone else.
He grades tough, but I promise he's really sweet. His feedback genuinely helps. Note to artists: if you doodle, he will make a happy comment on it. He's also very fun, you get to learn a lot about what a superhero is.
Professor's lectures can be dry, but engaging with the class materials and using study tools like unstuck ai helps. Essays are rigorous, but manageable with effort. Attendance is key for success.
Long Lectures, strict grading, lack of assignments to improve grade, doesn't list grades through semester.
Mr.Melnarik himself has a cool personality but his grading criteria is really inconsistent. Prepare to revise essays given to you, also makes it hard to gauge your grade as he doesn't list grades until the end. Lack of other assignments to even out grade makes the class a challenge as well. Long 2 hour lectures.
All we did was talk about Superheros the whole semester which was awesome. For each essay we have a whole month to work on it which is super great. The homework are free points and speaking up when he ask the class questions are easy points as well. Just do well on the papers, exams, attendance, and you'll be fine :)
i took this guy years ago but he was such a bad professor and i'm still mad about it
