He was always available.There was only 2 extra credit opportunities 1 point if you were never absent 1 point if you were never late to class so you have to work hard to get an A in the class but if you work hard then it really pays off. I would suggest taking this course solo; I wish I had. Now I am in an intense health program along with micro and I am barely hanging on. He is a nice guy, too much information. Pages and pages of note taking, tests are extremely detailed and hard. Prepare to spend LOTS of time to maintain a good grade in this class.

Excellent teacher, very helpful and informative. If you can take notes and not drool, and then study you will pass. Makes extremely complicated concepts accessible to anyone, would take any class he teaches. Only bad part is he doesn't teach 102 if you need it. Take him for 101 regardless, he is that good.

I had Professor Rhoads for Environmental Science. He is from the deep South and his accent is amazing and hilarious. His teaching style is very visual and clear. He is constantly coming up with analogies to help you understand the concepts clearly. I enjoyed just about every class with him. It helps to not be shy and really interact with everyone.

I had Professor Rhoads for Bio 101 and Bio 102. He is an excellent teacher, and really tries to help everyone understand what exactly he is teaching. The class isn't the easiest, neither are the tests, but he pushes you to do your best and learn all that you can.

He is very thorough in his lectures and covers all material that is tested. If you do not do well in his class, it is because you did not put in the effort!

I had professor Rhoads for Environmental Science. Some professors are just there to teach because it's a paycheck.. They don't care if you do well or not. Professor Rhoads is the opposite. If you're like me and were able to get As all throughout high school without even trying, his class might be a big wake up call for you. He is a very intelligent professor who really cares about what he teaches. He's good to have for both 101 and 102. SKIP CLASS, YOU WON'T PASS. He records his lectures but attending class almost guarantees that you'll at least scrape by on the tests. His exams are non-cumulative and as long as you attend class and take good notes, you'll do well.

Best Biology teacher I've ever had. He is the only professor I had that made me feel BAD for getting an A on a test. He makes you want to get the best possible score, and knows when you didn't try as hard as you could have. Environmental Science class is great for non-science majors, but not exciting if you are majoring in a science field.

My course was asynchronous with online lectures. If you are looking for a course online (even if online formatting isn't a strength) this is the one to take. His analogies were my favorite part because I am a visual learner. The most important aspect about his teaching was that he loved the material he covered. Furthermore, Dr. Rhoads preferred to show us the mechanics and processes of the material rather than just naming parts. For example, he taught us the "why" and the "how." Lastly, he used synonyms to relate complex biological processes to simpler ideas.

One of the best professors I've had. He is invested in making sure students get the most out of their time and understand the material. The labs were interesting and informative, and the lectures were very thorough. Be ready to take very good notes and study quite a bit. The class isn't impossible, but you will work for your grade. Listen to the in-person lectures, watch the recorded lectures, and rewrite your notes; if you put in the work, you will get a good grade in his class. It is not an easy class, but with all the resources that he gives you and the quality of his lectures, you will succeed in his class if you put in the time.

This is a challenging course, and he absolutely makes you work hard to get that good grade, but it is all worth it. If you want to get through a class and check it off of your list, and not learn this is not the class for you. Professor Rhoads makes you learn, understand and explain in his class. I am so thankful I took his class. It has helped me in all of the other courses, I have taken. 10/10 I have never been so happy about an A or worked so hard for one.

His class is not easy you really have to study hard. His lectures are extremely helpful and he is very through and tells you EXACTLY what will be on the test. His test seem crazy at first, but then u get the hang of his testing style and you can practically predict every question.

Rhoads really emphasizes critical thinking and teaches you how to study and analyze scientific papers. I feel like I came out of his class as a better student. He gives you every tool you need to be successful for the semester. HIGHLY recommend

Rhoads is great!!! To do well in his class, you MUST show up and take detailed note. His tests are basically reiterations of what he says in class so make sure you come ready to listen and learn. He wants each of his students to succeed and makes the class enjoyable while still pushing for them to try and do their best.

Rhoads is the best professor I have had. He is knowledgeable about what he teaches and shows that that he is passionate about it. His class is hard but he provides everything needed for students to learn and do well. Although he does a great job teaching and offers assistance in any way he can, students in this class need to put in work.

The highlight of my early college education! Expert Teaching! He's a natural born teacher whose personality, character, and authenticity is unmatched. Where praise is earned it is also deserved. Rhoads is absolutely amazing. His classes can seem hard however he puts 100% effort into making sure his students are all well prepared. Rhoads is extremely smart and has been the best experience I have ever had with a teacher and in a class.

Rhoads' BIO101 is challenging but rewarding. Attend every class, take detailed notes, and use resources like the free textbook and Unstuckstudy to excel. Tests are tough but doable with the right prep.

Dr. Rhoads is one of the best professors I've had. His expertise is apparent in both the classroom and the lab. He does an excellent job of making difficult concepts approachable and genuinely wants you to succeed. His tests can be challenging, but if you attend the lectures, pay attention, and take excellent notes, you will be prepared!

Rhoads is exactly what a new student needs when entering college. He is a very tough grader, however it is because he wants you to understand not just know the answer. He is very lecture heavy, if you miss one class it will be tough to catch up. He also takes time to ensure you understand the lectures. I absolutely loved Rhoads, he knows his stuff!

He wants to see his students succeed, but will not baby them. He pushes us to study hard and work for a good grade, which I can respect. He's also very funny, and keeps lectures entertaining.

Personally, as my first college professor, I think that he gave a really good first impression on his different college is from highschool learning. His way of teaching is sort of tough love but i do feel like the way he teaches is a very healthy and effective. Only those who truly want to put the effort in will benefit heavily from him.

Dr. Rhoads was by far the best professor I have had in a long time! He made a very difficult class like Microbiology fun to learn. He always showed how much he cared about us learning the course material and using it in our future professions one day. He was a very understanding professor and would go through every single test with us.
