Hes the best professor I ever had from A.A

Hard course especially in the summer when it is condensed to 6 weeks. Barely a moment that I stopped studying. Professor Sassanella is great at being flexible allowing proper spacing and study time for tests. Labs are sometimes crazy but you learn quickly perfection is not the goal. Trying and enjoying the experience is all he expects. Thanks Prof

Very tough course, however Professor Sassanella was very helpful and quick with grading and responding to emails. Although I took this class in the summer, he gave sufficient time between each test and quiz. He is willing to help you out if you need it. Very enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about the information he teaches. A+ GREAT PROFESSOR :)

Proffesor Sassanella is by far thee greatest teacher that I have ever had! His lectures are clear and interesting. This is not an easy class but he breaks it down and makes it easy to understand. He is very knowledgeable. He promptly returns exams and quizzes. Study guides very helpful. I would hands down recommend him to anyone taking this course.

This professor is fantastic! He is extremely organized! He uses a calendar, power points, videos, and clear study guides to teach the class. He WANTS you to do well, and will help you when you are struggling. This is a very hard class but it is made easier by this professor's enthusiasm for the material and his students.

Honestly one of the best professors I have ever had! He is very clear and knowledgeable. He is passionate about the subject and teaches to a level that anyone can understand. Everything is accessible (power points and such) and there are study guides for every chapter telling you exactly what you need to study. Do the study guides, Ace the test.

Hands down the best professor I've ever had! I didn't have prior interest in the class. He made the class very interesting. He provides study guides and helpful tips through out the entire class. He truly cares about his students success. Its a tough class. He makes it interesting and achievable.

Sassanella is probably the best professor I have had the pleasure of having. He is very clear about the material. Everything is on Angel. He lays out all the power points and study guides in a very organized manner. You know what you need to learn for the quizzes and exams. He made it very enjoyable to learn. I wish he taught more courses.

I took him once before and failed, which admitedly was my fault, but on my second go I took him again (this should say something)and did well (A-). If you put in the effort he notices and will do all he can to help you.

Don't buy the textbook. He doesn't use it at all. Prof. Sassanella is a very dedicated and helpful professor. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Put the hard work in and you'll get good outcomes! Learned a lot from his class. It's very interesting!

This is a hard class, especially the 6 week class that I took. Professor Sassanella made this class very interesting and easy to understand. He uses the online ANGEL program a lot. I had many questions and he went out of his way to help. If you are planning to take this class take the class with him. He is the BEST professor ever.

I took this class in the summer, so it was INTENSE. He uses very clear powerpoints for lecture. He hands out study guides for exams and as long as you study your notes for lab quizzes you will do fine. Lab is fun and he will answer any questions you have. He offered a ton of extra crredit. This professor is amazing!! Makes the material interesting (as much as nutrition can be). Provides plenty of opportunity for extra credit. Assignments are clearly explained and not too many that its overwhelming. Exams are straight from lecture. Will def try to take him for other courses he teaches!

Sassanella is very clear and straightforward about what he expects. Don't bother buying the textbook (lab book is mandatory). Uses PowerPoints for lecture material and tests come right from them. Gives out study guides for each chapter-- if you know the study guides, you will ace the tests. Ample extra credit opportunities as well! Take him!!

I think Professor Sassanella is the best instructor I have ever had!!! The lectures were clear and cut to the point. Just be present at class and study the lecture slides and study guides to get a good grade (if you want to get an A, study hard and complete all the lab assignments). I'll missed this class a lot!!!

Overall a great professor. I would defiantly recommend him if your trying to get in nursing and need an A. He offers a ton of extra credit which is the reason I did so well. Only thing is that he doesn't stop talking. It will drive you insane. But at least he makes the material some what interesting.

If u need to take micro for a requirement you MUST take him. I have had many bio & chem profs and he is by far one of the best! This class is very difficult but if you study you can easily get above a B+. He explains everything so that people of all education levels are able to understand. He gives extra credit. Too bad he isn't full-time. LOVE HIM

If you need a microbiology class this is the professor you need, This is a hard class especially in the summer, you have to put a lot of time and effort into the class, the professor teaches well and gives out the max points of extra credit. great professor macomb needs him as a full timer.

I would definitely recommend taking him if micro is a required class! I knew very little going into a 6 week, fast paced semester and managed to pull it off. There was A LOT of studying and lab reports crammed in, but he is excellent at helping you understand the material. Very approachable and wants to see you succeed.

Really enjoyed Professor Sassanella! He was always so cheerful and a genuinely friendly guy. Pathogenic Microbiology is not an easy class... but with the right amount of effort a good grade can be achieved! Ask questions if you don't understand.

Possibly one of my favorite professors to date. I was incredibly nervous about taking the class due to everyone's complaints; however, I truly enjoyed all of the lectures. Professor Sassanella is a professor that motivates his students to work hard and earn their grades. Definitely would take him again as a teacher.

GREAT PROFESSOR!!!! All I did was memorize the powerpoints. I wouldn't waste time on the review sheet because it is all on quizlet. Lots of easy extra credit. He is hilarious and tells lots of stories that help you remember things on the test. He actually cares about his students. If you receive an A he will hand write a recommendation letter.

As a culinary student, I was dreading taking a biology class. However, being that it was mandatory, I took the class. Much to my surprise, I LOVED the class! He was super fun and interactive in his lecture. Told many fun and relative stories! He does whatever he can to make sure you do well in the class. Highly recommend this professor!!

Although this was by far the most challenging class I've ever taken, when it comes to the professor himself, I couldn't of asked for a better instructor! Mr. Sassanella is an extraordinary professor, I highly recommend taking him. There are 4 exams, 3 lab quizzes 12 lab reports/ mini quizzes and 1 identification lab report 1000 point (+ he offers extra credit). Go to class, study his slides, and you'll do well. He is extremely smart, funny, kind, and loves talking about food! Take him!

This is one of the best teachers I have taken. He does not care as much as you get all of the labs correct. He just wants you to do them all. He cares about teaching. Class is fast paced in a 6 week summer class but he offers extra credit and will go above and beyond to help you. !Take him over any other teacher for the Bio classes!

I took Bio 2730 with him - If you study and put in the work, you will pass! he's not an easy A so you have to study! did not use the book. His slides are GREAT! by far, the best professor I've taken thus far!

As I continue through my educational journey, the more professors I encounter, the more I look back and appreciate how incredible Sassanella REALLY was/is! It's truly impossible to describe in 350 characters how incredible my experience as his student was. All I can say is, if you're lucky enough to have the opportunity to have him, TAKE IT!

This professor is great. He is really passionate about the subject and is really knowledgeable. Homework is relatively easy and he explains exactly what he wants done. I would definitley take him again!

Prof Tim is simply one of the best. He's caring, kind, & gives the benefit of the doubt to all students. He does not give difficult assignments & is always willingly ready to help you with any questions you have. I wish he could teach all of my classes! He puts himself in the students shoes; he understands that you have other classes and a life.

Mr. Sassanella is by far the best professor I have had. He was very easy to listen to and such a nice person. I got to know him through his lectures and I am very upset that this semester is over.

He is amazing!! No textbook use DONT EVEN BUY IT, great lecture material. Talks in great detail, but he's just very passionate about it. Study his lecture notes/study guides & you will pass. Lecture isnt required, but points off for labs missed. DO NOT MISS LAB 12 (30pts). Retaking for a higher grade, but will only take w/him as my prof! :)

I took Mr. Sassanella twice, and the second time taught me more than I thought I learned the first time. It is a very hard class in itself, but if you review all the material and his notes that he gives you, along with completing the study guides there is no reason you shouldn't pass. You must study every day or you'll fall behind on the material.

Professor Sassanella is the best professor in macomb. He puts so much of his time outside of work to put together lectures and study tools on canvas to help us better understand the material. I never appreciated a teacher so much for their hard work and the care he has for every student. Tough class, but studying everyday will guarantee a pass!

He is extremely fair in the grading and gives many opportunities for extra credit. I enjoyed this class because he genuinely cares about the students understanding the material and he wants them to succeed. He is also very approachable and takes the time to answer questions.

Professor Sassanella is a great pick for this class. All of the exams are from his powerpoints that he goes over in class. His labs are mandatory because you need to get graded from doing the actual lab. He offers extra credit which always helps. As long as you study over the powerpoints, you should be good even in the accelerated summer class.

Lectures are not mandatory, and it is taught through the power points and his notes, but the power points are the basis of what you need to know and he does elaborate more in lecture. Labs are mandatory, the Lab quizzes are a lot of the extra info he gives. Gives extra credit to help and appreciates feedback to make the learning better/easier.

He definietly cares about his students and took his time to make sure there are enough resources available. If you're struggling with something, take the time to talk to him and heed the advice given. Otherwise, put in the time, use the resources, do the extra credit and you should get the grade you're looking for!

Great prof! Took him previously for Nutrition, and came back for more. Good slides, study guides, quizlets, fairly easy, but had to work. Had a few snafus with Canvas but they were quickly fixed. No book needed. ProfT was stressed, but kept the class from being cancelled. Great lectures. Would take him again.

Sassanella is a great person morally. He got sometimes confused with some of our labs as it was new to him but it was cool he learned as we did and understood if we made mistakes. He always helped and answered any questions in depth. Also made our lab reports super simple and easy. Could always rely on him. If you respect him then he respects you.

Gives many life examples to go along with the subject. homework is assigned every day of class but it is very easy, just do the work cut out for it. exams are easy as well, his quizlets help a lot. overall good teacher.

Very good professor, but can get off task at times. Everything is done online in Canvas, so you could miss class, and then look at the notes from lecture online. Quizes were limited to 20 mins with 30 questions, so It could be stressful. Offered many extra credit opportunists, and was very understanding if you need a due date changed.

Great class... easy A, but a lot of homework. All the sections are the same, tho, and it's easy forms with good instructions. The 3-Day 'paper' was a form, and the professor mentioned three times to not skimp (got a 95), so I'm not sure what the other student is talking about. He took over the class and was very flexible. I'd take him again.

goes off topic on every slide, but sometimes it was interesting. Lab attendance is mandatory, and there are lab reports/exams for every lab. Lecture exams were straight from ppts and slides, which made them fair and manageable. Just put in the time and effort and you should be good.

This is a very tough class to take in the summer ,I would definitely suggest anybody whose trying to take this course in the summer to definitely do it with him and put in the hard work. He gives you a lot of tools to pass this course ,you just have to get the ones that work for you .He is a phenomenal teacher,just do your part .

I took BIOL 1400 in the summer with a different professor and had the worst experience. But this professor is beyond amazing. Very reachable and understanding. There is a good amount of work but honestly its not even bad because helps with your grade. DEFINITELY recommend him because he is the best and will always work with you and be helpful.

all lab work is done online, besides the physical lab itself. pre&post labs aren't timed so TAKE YOUR TIME. Only Online Lab Exams are timed & theres only 3 of them. Exams are lecture heavy, utilize youtube & crash course videos to help if you dont understand. Kahoots are the same as his 10-for-10 extra credit so study them. poss. 30pts for E.C.

Great professor & will most likely be the best one to teach micro. He responds fast to emails, & is very clear with his instructions. Has his own powerpoints & offers study guides. Lectures are not boring like other professors. Majority of lab work is online (not timed), 3 lab exams online (timed). Not stuck up at all & will always help. Hes great

Great Professor, especially in this subject. Initially hybrid, did a great job with the COVID switch to online - even provided recorded online lectures. Interesting class made better by an interesting guy. Not an easy class. Great resources for students like video, Quizlet & Kahoot! I took him before, and would take him again.

He is awesome. His lecture are clear to understand and he explained them so good. For his test you need to study really hard. His exam are heard. Study guilds are really helpful. Everything was available on canvas and easy to follow along. I loved that he provided the lectures to look at online because I am a slow writer. I do have to say that I had to STUDY HARD to understand everything. I thought the tests were not easy because the time was limited! Overall, he is a very nice guy and loves what he does. PLEASE STUDY!

Professor Sassanella is one of my favorite professors at Macomb. He is very good at his craft. While teaching us about the intricacies of microbiology, he also spoke on life and philosophy. I love how excited he got during lectures. One can only hope to be that passionate about something. Thank you Professor. I wish you well.

Online. Very organized in week modules on Canvas. No book. Live lectures & recordings. Easy exams from slides & lecture. Slides, study guide, quizlets, Kahoots provided. Discussions and assignments take a while, but are easy 100%. Fairly fast grading. The professor is easy to reach online for videoconference.

I loved prof. Sassanella. He did everything in his power to make things fun for us. With everything going online, he still had lectures every week and made time for questions. If you pay attention you will pass easily with an A. I highly recommend.

He was so understanding with basically everything especially about what was going on. Instructions were clear and very easy to understand. Class load was not to over the top

Loved this class. Great instructor, very funny. Interesting, but a lot of work. Very well organized on Canvas. Clear instructions. Didn't pile up all the dues dates. Live lectures on Canvas that were recorded to view later. Available for questions after class and by email. Lab would be better in person, but this was totally online.

The lab was fun, but make sure to look up techniques before class. Lectures were easy to follow and funny sometimes. Study the powerpoints religiously, look through your lab manual for pre/post-lab quizzes. Memorize diagrams because there are exam questions on them. Gave 30 points EC. No book. Answered emails fast. You really have to try hard!!!

This is one of the hardest classes you will ever take. Sound terrifying? Mr. Sassanella wants you to be terrified in order to get a good grade. He's one of the best professors I've ever had. If you even think about slacking a tiny bit in this class, you won't pass. Attend the lectures or you won't pass. Labs are fun if you come prepared!

He is a great pathogenic microbiology professor. Lecture is not mandatory, but do you skip class often? You won’t pass if that’s the case. The lab exams are an easy A and all the study material for those is on quizlet. Lecture exams? A whole different ball game. Even studying all the Kahoots! And Quizlets it was very difficult. Ask questions!!!

I took patho micro on campus with Professor Sassanella and really enjoyed the course. Lectures usually went long but lab was almost always short. Tests are directly from PowerPoints, no book, but it is a lot of material so extra studying is beneficial! Lecture was optional but recommended and labs were mandatory. Do the extra credit!!!

Read this rating again AFTER day 1 of class: USE THE QUIZLETS & KAHOOTS he provides (70% of exam Qs) along with his study guides and lecture slides: you'll know what I mean. Caring, nice, reasonable, flexible, passionate. Lots of material, hardest BIO class at MCC study study study. Gives lots of extra credit. Highly recommend him for this class.

He seems to be a good professor so far.If you study his PowerPoints his exams aren't too bad either. Use the kahoot and quizlet. My only complaint is that he often starts class late, goes far over our lecture time(15-20 mins)and in turn we start the lab late (about 25 mins).He's good, funny, very intelligent, I just wish he respected our time more!

My fave prof ever! Great lectures. Very funny. Super organized. Must not be a whiner or unwilling to work. Tough class, but not much different than most 200-level classes. Very supportive and answers questions quickly. His Canvas is very detailed. I will take him again if I can. I see why he gets great ratings.

Great Professor!! He doesn't owe you an A, as foreign as that may be. You WILL have to work for it. If his slides aren't enough, use the book since ALL of his slides come from it. As he said, this is a tough class and you wont get the grade you want without attending. So, if you miss/get a zero, that's on YOU! Maybe medical field isn't for you!!

This professor was amazing, 5 stars no discussion. This man is the biggest sweetheart. Be prepared to study, this is a college course but he truly does make it as fun as it gets. I'm never going to forget this course. He's very straight forward about tests and assignments. I would recommend this professor to everyone.

He is very thorough and flexible in grading for exams. You really have to work in this class, HARD. Worth it. Don't miss class or you'll fail!

This class was VERY difficult, but if you put in the time/effort, with Prof. Sassanella, you will definitely get the grade you want. He gives the maximum extra credit allowed for this course because it's exam heavy and he understands not everyone is the best test taker. He's very passionate about the content and caring towards his students! 10/10!

Class material is hard but he is the BEST to take it with!! Took it with his boss last semester and it was horrible. He grades on a curve and offers a ton of extra credit. Would 1000% take another class taught by him. Attendance is not mandatory but lab is. Study hard for the tests, they are challenging! He is awesome though - one of my favorites.

The class is hard, but he tries his best to get you a good grade. Lecture isn't required. I recommend, but they are long. His tangents in lecture may seem off topic but they are on topic and take note of them, there is a chance they could be on the exam. Look at his study guides! Overall, he is very nice and tries to connect with his students.

Highly intelligent, friendly and motivated to help you reach your goal. I never felt like he wasn't in it to see me succeed. LECTURE HEAVY. Study the study guides, slides! Study and dnt rely on memorization, but understanding! It will seem daunting, but he will provide enough support coupled with a bit of fun and some interesting stories.

I took Professor Sassanella for Pathogenic Microbiology for the Summer course of 24 While you need to put in the work, as you should as it is crucial. Professor Sassanella is happy to help you get there if you're putting in the work. He's very passionate about what he does, his accomplishments and furthering science. And just a genuine human being!

I'm currently taking BIOL 2730, and Sassanella is the best professor I've ever had. There is a lot of studying to do, but if you put in the effort, you will get the grade you want. Opportunities for extra credit, lecture isn't required but I highly recommend attending. I'm genuinely sad to see this course end, definitely take this class with him!

Please try your hardest to get into this class! He's a professor who wants you to succeed. As long as you do the study guides, you'll pass easily and you'll feel well prepared for anatomy. He's also just a cool guy. Would've 100% taken him for all my science classes if he taught them. Super great :)

Funny guy and clearly is passionate about his subject Lectures were very long and not engaging, i found it was easier to review at home because he does get lost with time and crams too much in at once, but labs are amazing and so engaging. Late work, accommodations, hes on it. Cares about your understanding more than grade amazing guy.

This professor is a hidden gem. He is super passionate about his work and his subject and he shares a lot of his experience while giving lectures. His study guide and quizlets are very helpful for the exams. This course is indeed hard but is very doable if you put in the work and study diligently. The labs can be improved on in terms of content.

Professor Sassanella is genuinely the best professor I have had my entire time at Macomb, having him especially for a class as hard as this was a god send in passing. I could not ask for a better professor for this class and I would heavily recommend asking for him for this class.

Professor Sassanella, is the greatest professor of all time. His class is challenging, but he is so kind, so patient, funny, relatable, the list goes on and on. If I could have him teach every class I've ever taken at MCC, I would.
