Great teacher, take him if you can for any math class he teaches
Tim is extremely entertaining. Indeed, "He makes math fun!" in the truest sense of the clichè phrase. He likes the idea of working in groups, but is also extremely helpful when you're perplexed about a problem. Take him any chance you get!
Tim was a fun teacher and i wish i could have him for my next math class i would recomend taking one of his classes.
Tim is a great teacher, he makes math fun. I would suggest him for your next math class. He will work with you until you understand.
He is very helpful and graceful, if you need extra time he will understand. There is so much group work that if you don't understand something, then someone will. There is a lot of homework, and i don't recommend missing a class.
I think that people looking for an easy math class will like him, but for those who learned math my memorized formulas and working out problems mentally or by hand, this isnt your teacher. me and him clashed because he didnt think i could solve easy algebra in my head. like 2x-6=14 would be hard?!

The Class is very Intereted, I love this teacher
Tim is an awesome teacher! He always sticks around to make sure you understand what's going on and helps you with what you don't. I would highly recommend him for any math he teaches!
Very helpful I have never undestood math so well
I hate math and Tim makes it fun and interesting. Tells good, appropriate jokes. Not tacky like most instructors. One of the top 5 instructors I've had so far. If you're looking to take a stats class in which you'll get a good grade, AND actually learn something, this is the guy for you.
brakes down the teaching into such small segments at a time its like almost impossible to not understand it. offers almost half of class time to work on your homework. more than willing to go the extra distance to help each individual student.
Guys If you want to pass the course easily take it with him. But if you want to learn the course properly dont take him. He does not stress on the concepts well, he doesnt spend time on problems in class. His way of dealing math in class is not correct. He is not at all helpful in office hours. Half of the time, whatever he talks is useless.
Tim, as he prefers to be called, is one of the most compassionate instructors. He truly cares about his students and their success. His teaching methods consist of lecture, discussion, as well as in-class assignments. If you do all of the work in class, you probably won't have any homework. He prepares his students well for the future. Take him!

I never thought I would do well in a Business Stats class.....I've been to 3 different universities and this is one of the best teachers I've ever had!!!!
I absoutly loved this class. I hate math, but he explained everything so well and so clear it made it fun, and reawaring. if you take Stat at KVCC make sure you have Tim as a teacher!
VERY funny- hilarious. Keeps you relaxed while you learn frustrating/boring things. Lots of times if you read the chapter and get the assignment from someone else you can skip too. He is very homework oriented, make sure you turn in every one to get a good grade. Big on group work too. Tests are exactly like reviews.
Great teacher. His system is all about repetition until you can do it by memory. You will have homework and lots of it, however, doing it means an easy bunch of full points for every assignment and almost guarantees a good grade on tests. You will find that you really can't miss class if you don't know someone there. Great guy. Great class.
Very helpful
Tim is probably the best instructor I have ever had. He is terrific in the way he teaches and makes you understand a somewhat difficult subject. Will go out of his way to help. Has a great sense of humor and makes the class very enjoyable. Go out of your way to have Tim as an instructor, you will be glad.
Great teacher, made math fun, must show up and do all your homework. easy A class, must stay whole class period, big on team work. Take stebbins or Raines
He makes the class very fun! There is homework everyday and it's important to be in class. He is very good at explaining things - makes it easy to understand.
Explains very well. Answers questions. Classwork and homework everyday. Very funny, loves to tell jokes.
Great prof.!!
He is so funny. The class will fly by!! Don't miss. It's hard to catch up. As long as you are there you will do fine.
Kinda funny, must be present for all lectures or you'll be very behind, homework every class, homework is a large portion of grade to pass and can help if you have low test scores, test are long and hard..come ready to work!
Don't miss a class lecture, makes it very hard to catch up. Very understanding and is willing to work with you and except SOME assignments late. Very fun and energetic in class, time files. Also very passionate about Stats, I would recommend him.
I took math220 and got annoyed at him at first and found it's hard to understand but gradually not only me but the whole class got much better. if you want to learn and will be serious about it, go for him.
I hate math, but really enjoyed having Stebbins as my teacher. It is math so attendance and homework are part of the package, but he doesn't overload the homework. Is straightforward in his examples and does not give unnecessary information.HIGHLY Recommend taking his class. I know I will be taking his courses from here on out!
One of my favorite math teachers. He's a great guy and he's funny. He's willing to help you after class, and he explains things really well. If you have to take probability and statistics, take it with him.
He is the best math teacher at valley by far!He wants everyone to understand what he is teaching. Yes there is a lot of work but it helps you understand the material, one section a day learning followed by an assignment and take home quiz every night. But you grade yourself on both.Definitly recommended
He is awesome! I have never had a more wonderful math teacher! He's so funny and a very nice guy! But, don't miss a class! Awesome teacher overall, highly recommended!
Honestly the best math prof I've ever had.
His jokes are immature... Nice professor though. Highly recommend.
He is a weird guy, but he is very nice! He is really helpful when you have questions and explains everything clearly! Doesn't grade hard on the assignments and quizes, as long as you do them he gives you points. Tests are pretty easy if you do all of your homework! Overall this dude is awesome!
Very good teacher. He is a little particular about somethings but it's not anything that is difficult to do. As long as you show up and listen to him talk and actually do your homework you should be fine.
Great teacher, explains every topic very thoroughly so that you understand what it is you're learning. There is a lot of homework but it isn't tough. As long as you attend class, do your work and try your best he makes sure you pass the class.
One of my favorite professors at KVCC. Really nice guy and always explained everything well. He is very involved with his class. Homework every night but it's not hard. You get a study guide for every exam which the questions closely resemble.
Timmy Stebby Stebb is the coolest. like if you don't like math, you best change your mind. swerve! he up on the board like, check out Z and call me tomorrow! that min-max range get's me straight pacing cross the room. straight talk. solid dude.
Difficult class, but a great guy. His notes are clear to understand, and if you have questions, he'll help you out to answer them.
Great instructor. Explains topics clearly. Do the hw, study, show up to class and you WILL pass. He also has a fun sense of humor and lets you work in partners a lot.
By far my favorite teacher! He makes learning fun and entertaining, definitely made me look forward to class each day! I learned so much in this class!
Best math teacher I have ever had.
Tim's teaching style is lecture based with a little comedy. He will answers questions and helps out as needed
Stebbins is a great professor. His lectures are possibly the best in the whole math department. He makes hard concepts easy to understand. Expect homework and tough tests, but if you pay attention in class they aren't so bad.
Great teacher. Easy class and everything is in the book.
Stebbins is by far the best Math Instructor I have come across at the Kalamazoo valley community college. He is always ready to invest is time in helping students. His explanation are very clear and applicable. If you are a class skipper he may not be the right guy for you.
Mr. Stebbins was one of my absolute favorite professors! He really cares about student success and is more than willing to help students that are struggling. Mr. Stebbin's is very funny and it's easy to pay attention in class. There isn't a lot of homework and the tests are easy if you do the homework. Great Professor, Highly recommended!
I have never been so entertained and informed by math lectures in my life! If Mr. Stebbins created an educational television series, I would purchase every season!
Amazing professor, he is so helpful during his office hours if you're struggling. Very clear instruction.
Never enjoyed any class as much as I did this one! Great teacher!
Tim is an awesome instructor. He is helpful, gives clear instruction, and has a decent sense of humor.
He was a great teacher. You need to go to class or its very difficult. He was really good at making sure everyone understood the lectures and helping students out with the work.
Tim is an EXCELLENT professor and the best stats professor in the industry. Why? Because he uses PROVEN teaching technique (note taking, in class examples, going over HW examples.) Superior to WMU's stats professors in every way based on my experience. You DO have to attend classes but hes very enjoyable and you're diligence will be rewarded.
Okay, when I first started Tim's class I hated it and his teaching style, but as you go on, its like you get used to it. He is very spastic and you need to repeat questions quite a bit, but he's a funny guy and he does a pretty good job of explaining the math to you. Don't miss class or you will get way behind.
Stebbins is an awesome guy and explains math in a way that anyone can understand. Nothing is done online, its all on paper like elementary school which makes it easier. Homework assignments almost every class but they're not too much work. Show up to class, pay attention, and you shouldn't have a problem passing this class.
Tim is one of the best math professors I have had at KVCC. I highly recommend him if you're willing to put in the work you will be rewarded with the grade you want. His grading scale is clear cut.
I'm not a math person especially finite and stebbins made this class possible for me to pass and actually understand the work I was doing.
Dear lord this class started out rough. He is hilarious. Do not miss a single class or you may not pass. It does get easier as the class goes on. Rely on your classmates. Be prepared for multiple hours of homework and projects. He doesn't like to help after hours and tells you to talk to your partner from class. Study groups a must.
Tim was awesome!! I never thought Id enjoy a math class but I loved his. He explained the lessons great and always told funny stories to keep class interesting! Stats isnt easy but I would definitely recommend this professor I loved this class.
He taught math100 this semester. It was thrown on him, he never taught the class before but he did his best. I had to use the math center a lot because he didn't know much about the nursing aspect. He was funny
Tim makes the class interesting and enjoyable with his upbeat personality and sense of humor. There is a homework assignment due each class period, but they are all very helpful and set you up for success on the tests and quizzes. Definitely need the book, since all the homework problems are pulled directly form it and we use it in class.
This class was work, but Tim sets it up to reinforce concepts throughout. He isn't super approachable outside of class, really wants you to use your classmates as resources.
This is my first time writing a review on a professor and I felt the need to write one for Professor Stebbins because I see all of these good reviews about him but he was probably the worst and most unprofessional professor I have ever had. If you don't know finite and want to pass the class with a decent grade... take another professor!!!
A lot of students and teachers at school likes him because hes the rockstar when it comes to statistics. I had a different experience. Hes misogynistic and doesnt answer your questions when you ask in class. He says, you should know this already. Some folks do not know sports analogy and its his job as the teacher to explain the students
Tim has made a difficult class during a difficult time more enjoyable. If anything he has been too hard on himself about having to teach in a remote environment. The course is not easy but I am glad I am taking it with Mr. Stebbins.
he may be better with in person learning but online he is very difficult. his lectures make very little sense and the notes he post are short and useless. I emailed him for help early on in the semester and he only told me to try my best.
Hard class if math is not your specialty, but Mr. Stebbins is a great professor. He is easily approachable and friendly. Great guy overall, glad I took him.
Super nice professor, explains things easily and is not uptight at all (in a good way). Usually accepts late assignments and often extends due dates. Most his lectures are posted online so if you miss class you can usually watch the same lecture later but easier to learn from him in person. He's a funny dude too, good chaotic sense of humor.
One of my favorite math teachers that I have taken at KVCC. I took his class as Hybrid. Attendance was mandatory, if you miss more than 3 classes your GPA will go down by a half a grade. He is a very fair and clear grader. Tests are online, which is makes it easy to pass. Hard copy more difficult.
I took Tim's class online for MATH220 and was super nervous as I've heard statistics is an extremely hard class. I got a 99.71% in his class. He is very clear with what he expects in the MiniTab projects, quizzes, and homework. He does use lockdown for exams, but the exams are MUCH easier than the homework assignments and review quizzes. Take him!
One of my favorite instructor I've ever had at valley!! He is very clear on the expectations when it comes to homework and tests/quizzes! If you are willing to put the work in you have nothing to worry about!
Great professor, was funny and explained things well. My only complaint was he was a little strange towards the women in the class. Whether he's sorta creepy or just a guy's guy is up to interpretation. My experience was great though. Pretty fun class.
Tim is great. He clearly defines the things you need to know and the things you don't. I've taken a calc based stat class before with r and a number of other things and felt like i never really understood what I was doing. With this class, everything made sense and really clicked. I felt as though I could ultimately apply it in real life.
Mr. Stebbins is a great teacher; he gives lectures that explain everything very well. He is also funny, which added a lot to the class for me. I took this class as a risk and discovered I love statistics!
Great Professor! Goes over the HW in depth. Likes to make STATS real life applicable. Goes off on tangents a lot though. I thought class was easy. Review is just like the test. Definitely get the textbook but make sure it's the right one. Ready day one or hardcover is best. I would take his class again!
I love Tim as a person but not necessarily as a professor. He insists on keeping everybody for the entire class time provided, often filling up to half an hour with random conversation. The way he taught some of the content was more confusing than it should have been, I would often have to figure it out outside of class.
I never rate professors on here, but I felt like I had to give Stebbins a huge shoutout for being the one instructor that could make me enjoy statistics. As long as you want to learn the material and make an effort, he is a fantastic and caring teacher. I had many long and valuable conversations with him this past semester - I 100% recommend him!
Professor Stebbins was great for this course. The class wasn't necessarily easy, you have to put the work in, but he is a fair grader and as long as you try you will get good grades on most homework assignments. I took this class online and there were typically two lectures and two homework assignments per week, due Thursday and Sunday.
Tim Stebbins was a fun teacher who really made an effort to show the real-life applications of statistics. His lectures were easy to understand and I thought the class was easy, but there were a lot of times the questions on tests seemed confusing or unclear. Sometimes decided to do things differently from the textbook based on personal preference.
Stebbins taught in depth and included real workplace examples to show how valuable statistics is. As a student now majoring in stats in a university, I feel prepared to continue in my studies. Every example completed in class and as HW is valuable material to study for tests. Tests are set up just like in-class examples! He cares and wants to help!
He's a really nice, chill guy. His lectures are simple and down to earth, which makes it easy to understand the content. The lectures and materials are a bit unpolished, but what he lacks in organization, he makes up for in how easy the exams are. They are multiple choice and he gives hints. Exams are easier than the homework assignments.
