He tells you in lecture what will be on the test. Go to class, or get the notes from someone who does.
hah a...i don't know about mr. hottie like everyone is saying. here is what I will say, he tries hard to make the class good, he has the strucuture of it laid out clearly, he is nice, and the subject material was interesting to me, so for all of that I say that he is good.
Tim is a stud muffin! The class is easy. Read the chapters and learning objectives a day before the test and got an A.
Nice, funny guy. Class was interesting and entertaining and funny stories and examples helps you to remember the topics...and I agree...he's not bad looking either ;)
pretty easy class, good teacher and fun at same time
easy class, either go and get the notes or get the notes from someone else, good class to take with a couple of buddies so you only have to go once a month
Awesome teacher. Celebrity status and charsimatic power has many who snipe cheap shots at his character. They wither, he weathers. And yes, it is getting hot in here...
Someone finally understands how to make learning easy and fun, 4 years of college taught in 1 class. You have to study for the exams. If you don't, you'll get a C.
Easy class, he gives you the test questions while you are learning the subject material. He tells you what parts of the textbook you have to read, which ends up being maybe 5 paragraphs for the entire semester. Go to class, fill in the blank notes, easy extra credit, lots of movies, fun class, lots of laughing.

All of the test questions are multilpe choice and are straight from notes and class examples. There are also a few questions from the book but he tells you in the learning objectives exactly what to read in the book. This class can be an easy A if you get all the notes.
I had Professor Waid for MGMT 4340 and MGMT 3000. His style of teaching is solid because he's intelligent and has the ability to analyze scenarios. However, even more important is that he's funny and caring while he challenges you to develop into a better person intellectually and spiritually. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Been to every class... studied his outlines... still don't understand his tests. Pulls only a few questions from outline and the rest from i don't know where. He likes to reword questions that makes it very confusing.
Good class. Go to class and take notes as you listen (don't just write down PowerPoint bullets!). Yes, the exams are hard/confusing IF you rely on notes from Grade Genie, etc., or a past semester. Just hope that other fools (like the reviewer below) are using these notes - you will easily finish at the top of the distribution curve.
it's an A class with minimum effort...
It's an easy course and he's very engaging. Definitely on the eccentric side. Funny. Worth taking. Don't get scared if it's your first business course. Only 3 exams though, and they can be tricky.
The class is super easy if you study the learning objectives before the test. Prof Waid is easy going and very good at presenting the material and examples.
Very charismatic, enjoyable lecturer. Tests could be tough, but that was my only real complaint
Professor Waid expects big things in the future for his students. He runs class discussions that involve everyone. Everything that he brings to class is well prepared and will get students thinking about the world. Highly recommend, definitely my favorite professor in the B School
Fill out completely (including examples) & MEMORIZE the study guide. He will ask questions like "Which of the 5 examples did we not talk about in class?" -go to class.
I don't know if this guy has changed since the other people who have rated him had him but this was a VERY boring class. Tim is a weird guy and his tests are long and specific, not too hard of a class but will be more of a pain than you expect. Felt like he thought we were idiots in class but when the test came around he seemed to change his opini
This class is straight memorization. Prof. Waid will rattle off about 10-15 different lists of information during every class. The exam study guides after you fill them out end up being at least 20 pages long and you are expected to memorize every last bit of it. Exams were rough and he is a little full of himself. Did NOT enjoy this class at all!
This might be a hard class if you didn't go to class. Be prepared to memorize a lot. He does give study guide and DO FOLLOW IT WELL! He is good in explaining the materials. Be a good student and he will actually treat you very well. I lacked of 3 points to reach the cut-off point to get an A but he gave me an A as the final grade instead of A-.
I don't know how he used to do it but there was no study guides and the class averages have been around a D. You have to go to class and study relentlessly though he puts questions on the test that he doesn't cover. Speaks clearly and easy to understand. He's lazy and makes TA's do everything including answering all questions general or exam
Awful teacher, and not really a nice guy. He says he curves if the tests are below 77% but when out average was 70% he still didn't curve. Acts very full of himself and in his study guides tells you NOT to memorize things but have "conceptual knowledge"... MEMORIZE EVERYTHING. He was so awful a student told him to "eff"-off on twitter.
Take this class in the summer! He uses a completely different book. No papers, easy homework, and tests straight from the book. 10x easier than during the regular fall or spring semester!!
His lectures are very interesting and engaging. not much to write down from the powerpoints. but his tests are a terrible. it will be over insane details from the texts that are hard to catch and he's perfectly content letting his class average be Cs and Ds. sitting in lecture it seems easy but dont be fooled
Boring class. Go to class only for fill in the blank words in powerpoints. There aren't many points in this class, just tests and class exercises which are one point. Read the textbook and memorize everything. Tests are the most random questions about the most obscure details. Way too much information to test over which makes the tests impossible.
Classes are lecture only, note taking is easy because of the packet. Tests are HARD and nitpickey. Waid is content with the class averaging D's on tests. Fairly interesting class and guy overall, though.
In general, Tim wants to increase your understanding of management and he does do a good job, but his tests are very hard. Reading the book isn't necessary if you're OK with a B, but going to class is essential.
This class was very interesting. The exams are a bit hard, but if you go to class everyday, and read the book, then you are sure to get an A or B. If you study last minute and don't read the book, then you will definitely get a C or lower. Overall though, I learned a lot and the class was very good! Waid is a pretty good professor.
He doesn't allow any use of technology, like typing out notes. His tests are difficult and not easy to study for. The questions are intentionally confusing. He tests over stuff students talked about in class, I attended every lecture and didn't know half the stuff he asked. He is a hardass and not an effective teacher. I don't recommend him.
This class doesn't require much of your time. There is no homework, or outside class assignments. That being said, the tests are tricky because they are designed to trip up the lazy students. Memorize the assigned reading sections and attend and pay attention every class and you'll do fine.
Take this class online! i wish i did! the test are made to trip you up and they will! just take it online you wont ever need any of the information he teaches you because it is pointless in the real world so take it online and get an easy A. i would highly recomend not taking it with him. his class is boring and a joke
This class is ridiculously easy. IF you show up to class and take the notes and read the chapters before the test. If you do those two things, it's an easy A and doesn't take much effort at all.
I never want to leave. He has a dry sense of humor, but it's there, and it's hilarious. He is so easy to listen to and makes class enjoyable. He knows his stuff, too, which is very respectable.
This Class was a very very poor experience. I don't think memorizing a ridiculous amount of material is going to teach me anything about being a better manager. Expected a lot more out of this class, Tim Waid was a huge let down.
He rewards merit. Good students who apply themselves do well. I learned (vs. got a grade) so many organizational dynamics and I felt that I matured immensely as an individual. I think the lazy, immature students disliked the class but that is the nature of our insolent Millennial peers.
He's a really good teacher who knows the subjects he teaches very well. He has a lot of real world experience which makes him very credible. His tests aren't easy so attendance and studying are musts. He's very in love with himself and loves to hear himself talk, but at least he's entertaining about it.
Overall, Waid is a good teacher and a good guy. He can be annoying sometimes with how much he loves himself but at the end of the day, he knows his stuff and is always willing to help his students as long as you approach him about it.
He's kind of a spaz. He will definitely call you out and make you look in dumb in class if you don't know what you're talking about. I felt like I learned during class but didn't learn what I needed to know for the tests.
Tim Waid is a balla. His lectures are always interesting and inclusive, but expect to be interrupted before you finish talking. Haircut could use an update, but bowtie is on point. Tests are very hard, but manageable.
Weekly quizzes and homework. Tests are basically definitions with one word making the difference (making it hard for no reason) Professor loves to talk about himself - he even puts his own quotes on the board Lectures could last 40 minutes, but he drags them out to an hour and 15 Makes assignments and exams material harder than they need to be
I had a good experience with his class. The class is not hard if.. a) you do every homework and extra credit opportunity, and b) you read the note slides several times before each exam. He will say the class is so challenging and whatever but do those and you will be fine. Also don't do the textbook buyback ripoff thing he has, sell it online!!!
Besides acting like he created the subject of Management himself, he was very clear and had the notes as fill-in-the-blank which I found very helpful. He was very direct with what he wanted us to know and to memorize. Still found his test questions to be very specific and test you over the fine details that you might skip over.
Take this class online. As long as you read the chapter while doing homework and quizzes (both open book) you'll be fine. Then watch the lectures right before the test and focus on the extra stuff he adds in. Get the lessons done before they're due and use those to get your grade up. Do the extra credit, it takes 10 minutes and is an easy 2 pts.
Overall, he's an okay professor. Definitely loves himself, but you know what is expected of you in the course. There's an easy few extra credit points every week before class and homework that'll take 1-2 hours every Sunday, but it's not terrible. The tests are pretty much all that makes your grade, so much sure you really read the book and study.
Dude is crazy, but he does love his topic. Study the reading quizzes, attempt to go to class some and you will be fine.
weird but solid teacher.
The tests are what kills you. He also tells you he gives lots of extra credit but when there in over 900 points in the class a few .5 points don't matter to much. I never skipped and read everything and it was still hard.
Decent class, just go and listen and do the homework. What really ticked me off was that the physical text book is purchased FOR YOU even though you're given an online one as well. I realize most programs have textbooks with codes that unlock the online text book, but automatically charging me for something I literally never use is pretty annoying.
Go to lectures to get notes for test. 1/3 in class notes, 1/3 book questions, and 1/3 slides
GOING TO CLASS IS WHAT WILL SAVE YOU WITH THIS PROFESSOR. Almost every class has additional Notes given that aren't in your book, as well as some form or FORMS of extra credit. Go to class, read your book, do your homework, don't cram in one night. NOT impossible! It's mainly about how well you memorize. Waid is sassy & not personable, but smart!
He knows his stuff and has good lectures, he doesn't put you to sleep and is very enthusiastic. His test are hard if you don't study alot, but if you do then you shouldn't really worry about this class. Go to class, otherwise you are going to do bad.
Tim Waid is a goofy guy but loves what he does. Go to class and do the easy extra credit. Study for tests with friends and you'll do just fine.
Tries to make a 500 person lecture interactive. Once held an extra credit lecture during class time, but made us watch a tegrity "for the missed class". His class could be 30 minutes but somehow stretches it into 1.5 hrs. Screwed up a tests version every time. Testing procedure is dumb (makes everyone line up outside, only lets 1/2 in at time).
Very weird class. Waid gives off the vibe that he created the subject of management himself. He constantly interrupts his class when speaking and berates them, makes fun of people who work traditional "blue collar" jobs, and talks down to students. He claims you need to know the concepts for tests but the questions are just specific definitions
Expect to be interrupted while talking. Tests are all definitions. The only reason you should go to class is for extra credit.
Tim was an okay professor. He was passionate about the topic, but he's monotone, so I didn't pay attention in class. If you attend class, there's a possibility for extra credit points, but not attending class won't hurt you. I never read the textbook, but I still got C+ on all three exams. He curved the final grades. I went from a C to an A-.
Very Confrontational and uptight. Has the potential to be a good professor because he is smart, but his extreme rigid personality makes the experience nearly impossible to enjoy. His lectures were informative but once again when it comes to flexibility its like dealing with an autistic child.
I took the Honor's version. Tim has a very difficult personality, but he will truly appreciate intellectual capital if you go the extra mile. In Honor's everything is interactive and has extra essays (2 pages). He comes off rough, but if you work with him he will do anything he can to connect you to important people (med school admission person)
Tim Waid is by far the most unenjoyable professor i've had at my time at Mizzou. He's condescending, his lectures are incredibly boring, and he stretches his class to the full hour and fifteen when it could be easily done in 30 minutes or less. His tests are designed to make you fail and he admits that they're incredibly challenging.
He is probably the worst professor I have ever had at Mizzou. He is extremely condescending and rude to all students. The tests are impossible no matter how much you study. His class is a waste of time.
I attended every single lecture, read every page of the textbook, did every single homework assignment, and studied hard for exams and still got a C+. During lecture time, professor is rude, boring, and leaves notes on slides saying "if you want to give up your extra credit let me know by sitting anywhere but the last 5 rows". Exams are impossible.
Tim Waid likes to hear himself talk. constantly interrupts students when he asks for participation. I hated this class, and I'm employed as a manager! The entire class is definitions based, and you have to know word for word. He lectures about management, but never actually helps students really learn anything besides definition regurgitation.
I really like Tim Waid. I had him for Management 3000, and took his Crisis Management class this semester. YES, you have to go to class. YES, you have to participate. But he makes class discussion comfortable and interesting. He grades fairly, and motivates his students to be prepared for class. I highly recommend 4340, great class!
The one thing I really liked about Tim Waid is that he is extremely organized so you know when things are and what is due. He is not the most interesting person to listen to and his lectures usually go the full 75 minutes. Exams are all definition based so if you study the definitions you'll do just fine.
Definitely not a fun or interesting class. Not a great lecturer, and his style was very obnoxious. He didn't use enough real-life examples of the concepts he discussed in class, so a lot of his exams came down to memorizing info. Passing is easy as long as you turn in the homework and do the extra credit. Skip this class and professor if you can.
Great classroom passion and interactive style. Engaging. Pay attention, take notes, you will do well. Rewards you for your effort with challenging exams that help those who prepare well.
Exams are challenging but they help those who are hard working. Jokers beware - you will do poorly if you do not study. Good classroom topics and discussions. Very energetic professor. Cares about student development. Great teacher.
I learned quite a bit. I used the information from class discussion in my job interviews so that I spoke "the language" of business. Waid has engaging/rhetorical question style that makes your think/learn. I care about grades so I studied a lot, especially for exams. But I also wanted to learn so class mattered to me. Good class.
Enjoyed the class. Very organized discussions and assignments and test questions. You do well if you follow the standard: attend class, study a little bit often, and prepare well for those exams that carry weight. I just like classes that reward those who step up but I know my friend who slacked a lot did not do well.
Discussions (not lectures) with students helped advance my understanding of the language of business. I feel that I have a better awareness of what my future expectations will become. I was alarmed to discover employers/the real world view college students as unprepared in critical thinking and communication. I left my smartphone in the car !
I did not go to class or study much but I figured out how to earn a C minus by doing very little. Kind of close though cuz i had to make an A on the last exam to save myself from a D. I was graduating and had a job so I did not want to try hard.
I am an Accounting major and have done 2 internships. My grades are critical to staying in my program and I worked very hard for an A +. It helped to be disciplined and attend class and study well for homework, quizzes, and especially tests. We had a study group. I recommend the class if you are preparing for an internship since Waid keeps it real.
I liked the topic and conversational style. Lots of current events and examples to discuss interactively with students. I got extra credit for doing in-class exercises and sharing. I learned some useful things. I liked the routine and clear grading guidelines that made me work harder for my B+. I am not good at exams so I did not get an A.
I am not a business student but I loved this class (mgmt 3000) solely due to the fact that I learned A LOT. I had to work hard and study a lot from this class but I thought everything I was learning was interesting. Tim Waid is a nutty professor but I respected the guy because of how passionate he is. You can tell he wants his students to learn.
Structured course with clear weekly assignments. Extra credit papers were abundant. Enjoyed standards of expectation established and was motivated to be scholarly in learning. Good course with flexibility on completing work. Study extra hard for exams and/or do not relay on eBook for quizzes (know it vs. know where find it - the typical cop out!)
Very organized and clear structure. Good topics for someone looking to improve themselves or others. I felt like I put a lot into the class and got a lot out of it and the professor facilitated both my wants and needs. Good class.
I really like the schedule of activities and assignments - class note-taking, online homework (use an open book for answers). I learned new ideas about the world after college (jobs, life). The exams are half the points and will reward you if you prepare. I like challenges and so getting a B+ was rewarding to me. I understand myself more too.
I am currently a manager on campus, and what we are learning in this class is not applicable to the real world. Tim has trouble communicating real world situations to the class and focusses on theory more than action. Over the course of the semester Tim has become more disrespectful towards his students trying to assert dominance and power.
The professor is easy to talk to and gives plenty of examples and stories to learn from. I liked the large lecture interaction and participation. I learned a lot about topics from what my classmates had to say. Learning and class was fun. Good experience.
I did very well in this class as it's mostly centered around memorization. He gives out a good amount of extra credit. You will need to read the book and attend lecture to get the in-class notes that aren't on slides to perform well on the tests. He can on come off like he knows everything and on occasion interrupts students in class. Not Great.
Only portion of this class that is beneficial is the EC given in class. He spends most of lecture talking himself up and putting students down through their responses in front of almost 300 people. Extremely paranoid to the point that he splits the exam into seperate days, has 1 proctor for every 15 students and video tapes exams. TAKE ONLINE
Dr. Waid's a great teacher. He makes the lectures interesting and engaging, and he's easy to understand. There's tons of extra credit in the class and plenty of homework for cushion in case you bomb an exam (which btw those aren't very hard). I highly recommend.
The only good thing about Waid is the amount of extra credit he gives out to cushion how bad you do on exams. He is extremely conceited and rude. He will asked for participation but say youre wrong in front of 300 people if its not the exact answer he wanted. One of my least favorite classes Ive taken at Miz.
This teacher is not rude but if you want to join a class and have the students instead of the teacher teach the class and listen to several repeated examples and same examples reworded join this class. EVERY SUNDAY HE ASSIGNS WORK THAT HAS TONS OF REPEATED QUESTIONS. This assignment is useless as it's almost always 100 questions and repeats a lot.
Look, if you're a business major like me you are required to take this course whether you like it or not. The material was boring but it was common sense. Go to class and keep up with your work or you won't do well. The tests are all memorization. Waid is a piece of work and thinks he walk on water, but the class is easy so I got over it.
Very organized class with a LOT of extra credit. Attendance isn't required but if you show up, you get extra credit. His exams are fair and he is laid back.
This man does NOT sit still, he is always running around the auditorium. He loves to have students answer his irrelevant questions in class. Exams are all memorization (study the workbook, it's not that bad). Go to class, get EC each time you go. LOTS of busy work. Have like 5-7 assignments due each week, most are on quizlet. It's not that bad.
So many people complain about Tim Waid but he was one of the best teachers I have ever had at Mizzou. He actually teaches concepts that you remember. He gives a ton of extra credit if you talk and engage with him. People who complain about him are the same people who want a degree, not knowledge. Don't let the comments scare you, he is awesome!!
Professor Waid likes to create visualizations for students. In this class there can be a lot of assignments due, but the duration and difficulty of those assignments are not major. He also gives extra credit for those willing to speak in large classroom settings. Those who have failed this class did not show up or try at all. Simple as that.
This guy is the laziest professor I have ever had. During online classes due to COVID, all he did was put out a 4 minute lecture once a week, then he would say do the homework. That's it. When I looked at the date of the recording, he did all the videos 4 months ago. He was blatantly taking advantage of the students and doing nothing to help.
I had him during covid. he is not helpful, lazy, strict, and overall a bad teacher. he assigns an insane amount of homework and his assignments are not fairly proportioned for the class (7 question quizzes for 14 points, hour long assignments worth 8 points, and 500 word papers worth 2 points) 10/10 do NOT recommend his course.
The difficulty level on Professor Waid's homework, challenge quizzes, and exams far exceeded the effort he put in. He made 4-minute videos for the weekly material and then you would never hear from him again. The exam questions were poorly written and focused on random details from the reading rather than the actual content worth learning.
In my opinion, Professor Waid has failed to transition to online learning due to COVID. He obviously recorded all of his lectures in one sitting (they're only like 5 minutes long). One "lecture" each week, and then other than that its just book work. The exams are fairly difficult, because of the poorly worded questions. I did not learn anything.
I took this Fall 2020 and the concepts ARE useful contrary to what other have said in the past. However, Tim Waid is a very lazy professor in the fact that he records his lectures from 6 months ago ranging from times of 5-10 minutes with minimal useful feedback.
Tim heavily uses the textbook. Every assignment was based on it. The tests were challenging. He was not very open nor assessable. This class caused lots of anxiety. I would not recommend this class if you are trying to understand the topics. I was able to get an A in the class, but to do so you need to study hard for the exams. Lots of random stuff
In the beginning, it seems like there is a lot of assignments. But, the concepts are extremely easy and the homework is all very reasonable.
This course is for sure reading heavy, and almost reading only. So, if you are taking more than 15 credit hours, this course is not recommended.
(Taken amidst COVID) LAZY professor. He posted only one useless lecture per week that lasted roughly 10 minutes, he only sent out automated emails (many of them), and ALL of the coursework is automatically graded, even the "quizzams" which are just shortened exams with extra-hard questions! He could have died the first week of class for all I know.
Pointless content, professor does absolutely nothing. No motivation to do well in the class, even though it's not too difficult. Class is designed for the professor to do minimal amount of work. If it wasn't a required class, would recommend everyone to not waste their time
This professor is lecture heavy make sure you are taking notes during class. His tests are mainly memorization study and you should be fine but not enjoyable for the class or professor.
