Pay no attention to the terrifying introduction to the course. I think he tries to come across a bit intimidating for the first 2 1/2 days to scare the students off that aren't real serious. Originally, I was so excited to take this class with this professor. I have several complaints by this point. 1) Tim should be careful about what he says about women, he appears derogatory towards women at times. 2) He ought to rant less, and teach more. Videos are good. So are ACTUAL class discussions. 3) He should take more input from students.

After taking 3 of Tim's classes, I have to say I think he is a great teacher and a man capable inspiring people to greatness. only if you're willing to make the effort to make the 18inch journey between your mind and your heart. Be ready to challenge what you think you know. If you can't listen don't waste Tim's time. What a great teacher.

HORRIBLE. I am confused as to why he has high ratings on here. I was excited about the subject of this class. Nothing tied together. Rants about pointless unrelated garbage, is disrespectful, close-minded and cynical. Wanted to hear himself talk, not provide an intellectual environment for conversation. The textbooks had valuable information.

CURRENT EVENTS! They are really important and Tim likes to use them for class discussions. It's a good idea to have some questions or current event topics that you're ready to talk about. If you don't like to engage your teachers or talk about controversial subjects you probably won't like Tim's class. But what do you expect in a philosophy class?

If you expect to follow a syllabus, fill out a rubric, and have your education spoon fed to you, you will be terribly disappointed in Tim Watters as a professor. If you are willing to challenge your assumptions and think critically, then you just might learn something new. If the latter is the case, then I highly recommend any of his courses.

WCC and it's students are lucky to have Mr. Watters as professor. His lectures often lead to a very in-depth and critical dialect between himself and the students. The expectations are clearly outlined in the syllabus and he is always willing to answer questions. This is class, much like life, is based on your availability not your capability.

Watters is unconventional, unfiltered, and undoubtedly one of the best professors at Whatcom right now. Everything else that needs to be said about him can be found in other reviews, so I will simply say that when disrespected in class I saw Tim handle it humbly and with more respect and more maturity than you'll get from any other prof here.

Professor Watters is a storehouse of knowledge; he's very wise and when he does lecture, which isn't often, it's amazing. He's amazing. Critique: he does not follow his own syllabusschedule is which extremely annoying. You never know when what is due. The class is mainly just watching movies and discussing them & quizzes can be sent via email.

Watters was a fairly good teacher, this class was very reasonable in terms of homework and although lectures were long he kept them very interesting. Once and awhile he seemed to go off on rants about a topic. They were all interesting but sometime it was hard to follow if it was something we were supposed to be learning in class or not.

Lectures a lot, doesn't stay on one thing, and the stuff he talks about typically has nothing to do with the quizzes. Does not follow the syllabus, for due dates. All tests are take home, that's all for homework. You have to be there for class, or you get a percentage grade drop. Overall I got bored a lot in class, but some days can be quite neat.
