AWESOME TEACHER! Very KNOWLEDGEABLE AND through. A LOT of information to go through in class but hes helpful to his students He makes the class fun and interesting with his powerpoints and lectures Lots of tests and quizzes BUT you get a VERY acurate study guide from him Just show up for class ask questions if you're confused and use the study guid
Nicest teacher, easy class you will enjoy it I promise
Professor Truckenbrod is very smart. He is very kind hearted and patient. Show up to class and take good notes. The quizzes are really easy. I really enjoyed his class :-)
4 easy tests with study guides,no hw,1 paper or presentation u choose,i didnt mind going to class. excellent teacher=]]
Not a history person but he made it very interesting. He doesn't take attendance but the tests are taking from his lectures so it's good to go to class. 4 tests and 4 maps, drops the lowest grade. Easy research project due sometime during the semester. Great teacher, good class
Very nice guy and attendance is not mandatory. However, his lectures are useful, especially if you read the chapter before hand. He is very prepared and always throws extra credit in towards the tests. One paper due at the end of the semester. A little boring, but I would take him.
one of the nicest teachers i have ever had. he sets you up for success by curving his tests and giving plenty of extra credit options. he is a very polite and nice man. if you come to class and study his VERY DETAILED study guide you will ace the class with flying colors. This applies to all of his classes. HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO EVERYONE!
Excellent teacher. If you pay attention in lectures and read you will do good in his class.
ONE OF THE BEST TEACHERS I HAVE EVER HAD. you do not need a book at all, he goes over everything you need to know in his lectures. he is extremely helpful if you need it and is just a very nice person in general. he tells you exactly what you need to know on every test & also curves all the tests. Overall I def recommend Truckenbrod!
Awesome teacher. Super easy class. History post~1865. 5 tests, drops the lowest grade. 1 essay due my mid semester on a movie. Dont have to show up for class but it helps. I havent read a chapter yet and I have an A in the class.
Great teacher, if you put in the effort you will get an A. Really nice guy, I hate history and was scared to take a history class, but I would major in history if I could take every class with him
Great teacher knows what is talking about. Very helpful as long as you go to class and listen you'll do awesome. Makes class fun and enjoyable. Just a fun great guy and an awesome teacher
Mr. Truckenbrod is an excellent teacher with such a strong passion for history. He tells you exactly what will be on each test and gives so many extra credit opportunities as well. He really wants to see everyone do well and succeed. As long as you got to class and pay attention, you'll pass no problem
awesome teacher... hes so kind and knows his history. he provides you with everything that'll be on the test and his tests are really easy. just show up and listen and you'll get an A. i definitely recommend him, hes great!!!
very nice guy and extremely easy going. i would take him over and over again if required. by far the nicest teacher i have ever had. honestly you have to try and fail his classes. gives curves and extra credit on EVERYTHING. his classes were a lot easier than my high school classes. just take him for any history requirements you wont regret it!!!!!
Very good teacher, knows his stuff well. The class will feel veerrryy long (but thats because of the amount of material being covered). 5 exams and 1 group project, and drops the lowest exam. Overall awesome teacher.
Professor Truckenbrod is fantastic!!!! A well educated and funny professor. You will like his class even if you don't like school. Take him for history!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great teacher full of interesting facts. greatly enjoy his class and would recommend him to anyone who needs to take a history course or loves history. Final grade is based off tests and your midterm project, really easy if you don't skip class!
Truckenbrod was extremely easy. His class was based on tests, and either a major speech, or paper (not a big deal). He also gave extra credit quizs. So if you read like you are instructed to, or just listen when he talks you can get extra bonus points on tests. He is extremely friendly, and always seemed to be smiling. A great class take it!
Professor Truckenbrod is a nice person, but not a good teacher
Have taken two classes from him. Didn't attend when I didn't feel like it, and he didn't mind. (Got a 97%)He has a legitimate and passionate interest in the material he is presenting. Be prepared the texts he uses for US History are left-liberal leaning in nature.
Mr. Truckenbrod is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He grades of a curve, and gives plenty of time and extra credit opportunities to each student. Is really passionate about history, so he makes class go by faster. Definitely take his class.
Easy to understand; lots of extra credit opportunities; made Western Civ less miserable!
Professor truckenbrod is honestly one of my favorite professors in college so far. You actually feel like you learn something instead of being force fed information. Tests are pretty easy if you read the chapters, and getting an A in this class isn't too hard if you put in some effort.
There is a test every 3 chapters. First half is M/C the second half is Short answer but he let us use our notes/book. There is extra credit trivia at the end of every class if you stay through the whole thing. Also a ten page research paper due at the end of the semester. He is such a nice guy and he made a three hour Tues night class well worth it
I genuinely liked him. He's a strange man, but thoroughly kind and he really seems to know his stuff and wants you to excel. Took a class that met once a week but I got some great notes and paid attention in class and got an A- Attendence not strictly mandatory but it is if you want any semblance of a decent grade.
Prof. Truckenbrod is an extraordinary professor. If you have the opportunity to take him, DO IT! He offers plenty of extra credit opportunities through his famous trivia game. Course= 3 exams, 1 term paper, and 1 non-comprehensive final exam. Provides study guides for each exam, and everything covered in class will be on the exam. He is phenomenal!
This was the first history class I had taken in several years. If you show to class, participate, study and do all the extra credit and trivia provided, you will get an A easily. Out of the 4 tests give, I did great on 2, not great on the other 2. But with all the extra credit and an A on the research paper, I walked away with an A in the class.
Nice man, awesome teacher, fun class, trivia is fun after lectures and good extra credit! Highly recommend, but tests definitely require some studying!
The best professor at COD. Manages time really well, breaks up the class time with trivia and videos after lecture so there is no redundancy. Extra credit via trivia and the end of the semester you play monopoly. You can't take a better class than this.
Great teacher, very funny lectures but does trivia at the end of every class for EC wonderful class, he cares about all his students very easy as long as you come to class and pay attention easy A I loved his class great teacher the world needs more Tim Truckenbrods in this world and in education
Nice teacher! Offers a lot of extra credit opportunities, which is great! Half of the exam is multiple choice and the other, the short answer part, is open-note and open-book. Make it to class often enough and take notes, and you'll probably get an easy A without reading.
Great Teacher, cares about his students, if you pay attention in class and take good notes you should get an A in the class. Lots of EC chances with Trivia after chapters. Most of your grades are 4 exams, and 1 either group project or a paper.
Loved professor Truckenbrod! Great guy and great teacher. Tests were definitely challenging but with some effort, you can pull off an A. Cool group projects and entertaining class. Must-take if you need a history class.
Excellent teacher, fair grader, provides helpful feedback, fun class, lots of +credit, class is well-organized & clearly structured, tests are fair, slides avail online ahead of time, exams structured more around lectures than textbook, book still helpful. Most enjoyable class I've taken so far. Would take another class wthis prof in a heartbeat!
Love this guy
Favorite teacher at COD. Beyond easy if you pay attention&take notes. Gives you a study guide for each test with exactly whats on the test, tests are based off the book. 1 10-page paper, but gives you months to finish it. I love history so I found the class to be really interesting. Show up&do the study guide&youll pass, otherwise you'll fail.
He is very organized! exams are all your grades but he gives you a study guide and it helps! we played trivia at the end of class which was fun and gave you extra credit points.
I'm not the best at history so i expected the worst going into this class. But i had him and loved this class a lot. You can tell he cares about his students and is passionate about the subject.
Really good teacher super organized his lectures were really interesting the only thing that sucked was that there was a quiz ever 3 chapters or so but the trivia game played in class really helped at the end of the semester you have the option to either write a ten page paper or do a monopoly game on your chosen country
Mr. T is the best ! Lectures are interesting enough. All you have to do is show up to class and you have a chance to earn 3% towards the next test. (10% overall) then on the test itself you have a chance for 5% more extra credit. Study guide on bb with what every single question is on. Easiest and most interesting class ever. TAKE HIM. just show up
Mr Truckenbrod was an amazing professor. My brother and I took him and we loved him. He offers lots of extra credit and if you take notes during the power points the tests are simple. Overall, he's one of the best professors I've had at COD and would highly recommend.
Don't miss out on your chance to take this class with a hilarious professor who is awesome and frequently offers extra credit percentages (not points).
Mr. T is amazing. One of, if not the BEST teacher I've had at COD. Every class you play trivia in a group for extra points on the next test. He is really funny, and laid back. He made me like history and I already signed up for his next class. I missed 50 % of the classes and still got a B. Keeps his lectures bearable. Wish he taught more classes.
Mr. T was one of the best teachers that I've taken so far. He was so nice and he would joke with his class at times. After every chapter we finished we would play trivia in groups that he hand-picked and playing them were fun. I would recommend Mr. T to every student thinking about taking a class of his.
Definately the best class I've taken at COD. He's a great professor and he's naturally funny. His class was interesting; the weekly trivia games made coming to the class something I looked forward to. If you study the answers are all in the powerpoints.
I took him over the summer for HISTO-1140 U.S. History Since 1865 and he was GREAT! super nice, really funny and makes class enjoyable. His class was easy but I feel like I learned SO much! I always thought a class had to be hard or you wouldn't learn anything. He proved that to be wrong. He really is a naturally gifted teacher!
Hands down one of the best classes I took at COD. Mr T is a great professor who genuinely wants you to do well in his class. Between his study guides, extra credit, easy hw & points for attendance theres no way you cant pass. He makes what can be a boring and difficult class very interesting and funny. If you need a history, class take him
There is so much extra credit with all the trivia. You can easily get a full letter grade higher on the test than you earned because of the trivia. Tests are pretty easy. I even saw him in the cafeteria a few times and said hi. I recommend him.
Prof Truckenbrod is an easy A. He covers TONS of content in class (I've gotten up to 6 pages worth of notes in 1.25 hrs). It helps to print the slides and take notes on them. He is a nice guy but he doesn't really command authority. He does do trivia days which are really fun and are worth lots of extra credit. I didn't read the book and did fine.
The greatest professor in COD, highly recommended.
Mr. T made history really exciting to learn and his teaching style is great. He lectures for 1 and a half class periods and you play trivia over what you learn. Trivia points are added to your exam score, and its hard to not receive a good grade. Only 4 exams are taken throughout the course! No book needed either! Save the money
We had a book but never used it. Aside from that he was great, packed a lot of information within a 75 minute lecture and has trivia which boosts your test.
Funny guy that has so much excitement about history. Only 4 tests throughout course and an optional paper due at the end. Trivia every class period as extra credit added to test grade. History isn't my favorite subject, but he made the content interesting and I enjoyed him as a teacher!
Genuinely just wants his students to pass. Gives study guides for each exam. Trivia every Thursday for extra credit. 4 exams, no homework, and optional extra credit paper. Makes pop culture references during the lecture to help students understand concepts and clearly enjoys history/teaching. Awesome guy. 10/10
ZERO reasons to not get an A. 4 tests w/ optional 6 pg paper are only grades you get. No homework. Final is NOT cumulative! How to ACE it: Show up, take notes on lecture, participate in trivia (introvert friendly) for extra credit, go over the study guide the night before each test. That's it. Book helps, but not required. Mr. T is outstanding.
Professor T. is really nice. He'll answer your questions and genuinely wants his students to pass. 4 Total exams, no homework or any other points BUT he holds trivia every thursday to review material and give your extra percentages for exams. Show-up, take notes, study thoroughly, you should be able to pass easily.
Truckenbrod was easily one of the best professors I've ever had. Throughout class, he's constantly double checking the syllabus, making certain that what he's lecturing about will be on the test. There is no homework in the class - only four tests which are 25% of your grade each. It's very easy to pass said tests if you show up and take notes.
Overall he is a nice professor, but you really have to like history to have a good grade. After reading all the reviews, I thought his Trivia will save me, and yes it helped me a little, but I ended up dropping his class. Trivia once a week, 5 exams. For the first exam, only 6/35 students had A)) So if you really like history, take it!
Easily one of the best history teachers I've ever had. Truckenbrod is a master time manager and takes care in planning out his class and the material so you learn alot. He cares deeply about the material and the students (answers questions well). The class is basically just tests, so make sure you study and take notes. Trivia every second class day
Great professor very organized, responds quickly to emails, grades quickly. Some lectures are interesting and Im not a history person. A lot of info sometimes so I recommend recording his lectures so you can go back and get good notes. If you do this you will NOT need the textbook. Covers EVERYTHING on his tests. EC available. Trivia is a blast.
Prof. T is a really great guy. Very lecture heavy course but its history, what can you expect. You grade consists of 4 exams and the final. No homework. Study guide shows a general idea of what each question will cover. Often times the questions go into EXTREME detail so be ready to read and study. If you do that, you'll get an A.
Great guy. Very understanding to some unforeseen circumstances I had at the end of the semester. He pushed the final up a day for the whole class, just so I was able to take it on time. Extra credit every week, so make sure you go to trivia days if you do nothing else. You'll get a good idea of tests from study guides. Take him you won't regret it!
He does not know how to teach. I took his class as a Gen Ed for my major big mistake. I should have taken another class. Unnecessarily, I studied hard for this course. His slides are a few words each and his exam questions are in extreme detail. Often curves exam up to 10% just so people pass. Do not take. Harsh grader on test, trivia, paper.
He is nice but you really have to like history to get an A. trivia helps but there are like 55 questions for each exam. I would not recommend him.
Only grades with 4 exams and a final paper. He gives extra credit quizzes which will help you grade a lot. Watch all of the lectures and study for the exams and there should be no reason for you not to get an A. My only complaint was the audio quality. Some parts of his lectures were incomprehensible.
Professor Truckenbrod is a pretty good teacher, as long as you pay attention to the power points. I took the class online during the pandemic and it was ok. Extra credit every class. The test questions were very tailored to his lecture so if you miss one you'll be in the dark about a chunk of the test.
Grade is 4 unit tests and a paper, with an extra credit quiz every week. Great guy but a little awkward, doesn't really matter though because he's a good lecturer. Paying attention during lectures is a must because the tests are on hyper specific details.
Prof. Truckenbrod was overall an easy A, his terminology is dated and mentions a lot of irrelevant topics to the exam which will make a 40-minute video lecture into a 1 hour one. I hardly touched the book, listen to the lectures and you won't need it. He's through, offers extra credit quizzes, and exams are curved.
Its lecture heavy but on thursdays we would do trivia in groups( for extra credit) and it is a lot of fun because it gets competitive and helps you review for the test. He does go through material very fast and very small details will be on the test, but overall he is passionate and caring. Grade is 4 tests and paper.
Overall great class, consisted of 2 lectures per week and extra credit quiz. 4 exams and 1 paper. Really nice, good lectures, pay attention to details because they will be on the quizzes and tests. Overall learned a lot and enjoyed the class!
everything on test covered in lecture, provided an EXCELLENT study guide, mixed up class time between lectures and videos (so not boring at all), extremely generous with extra credit, good sense of humor, very passionate about subject material, had a paper to write towards end of semester, overall great professor and would 100% take again
Youre graded based on few essays and tests so if you are not good at one of them you will simply fail the class. And because the quizzes are just extra credit on the tests, you dont get anything else to help raise your grade.
He goes through his slide one day and then we have trivia on the next for extra credit which can really help your test grade! Assigned a few essays but they were all easy and can easily be done without any outside sources. He's really nice and is understanding if something comes up. He is also good about getting back to any emails.
Decent class and a great teacher. I did not purchase the book but borrowed it for the papers. Very useful for the papers only. In class do not take notes on the stuff seen on slides. Pay attention to what he says because those minor details are on the tests and quizzes. Sit next to smart looking people because we have group extra credit quizzes.
Absolutely loved this professor!! Can't think of one negative thing to write. Tests are easy if you just pay attention and take good notes. So much extra credit was given! There isn't any homework so all you are graded on is 4 tests and a paper, but the extra credit is extremely helpful for your grade. Just show up to class and you will do great.
This is my second class with him. He's great, the exams are easy and textbook isn't really necessary as long as you're in class and take notes on the slides. there is trivia each Thursday and the points for that count as extra credit on exams so even if you do bad it wont be that bad. There is also an essay however he gives you plenty of time.
Class grade is composed of 4 exams and 1 project. NO HW! Mr. T is hilarious and he makes lectures fun. Trivia every week which gets you extra credit on tests. Study guides for every test. Find the textbook free online! Dont pay.
Professor T. is Awesome. I took his 20th Century World History class. The class covers a lot of ground at a very high level but Professor T. made it extremely interesting. The textbook is wordy but good. Professor T. weekly Trivia is absolutely the best. If I ever become a teacher, I am totally stealing his Trivia game.
4 exams and 1 project. 10/10 recommend! History has always been a tougher class but this professor is amazing and no heavy workload. Even offers extra credit.
Professor Truckenbrod is amazing! There were daily lectures preparing us for the weekly quiz. He would curve the quiz based off everyone's scores. He is available for help out side of the online learning structure. Gave clear instructions for the final paper & when it was due when the class started.
Tests are based on the textbook which he gives noted lectures on - buy the PHYSICAL book, he gives you an AMAZING study guide of each unit telling you what pages and topics are going to be on the test (digital book contains incorrect page numbers). VERY high curves. He is extremely nice, and very passionate about the topic, which is great.
This class was a great option for history, though the online lectures felt long and weren't the most interesting sometimes...but I am also just not interested in that stuff anyway. Not too many assignments and the final is graded really good as long as you put actual research and effort into it! Definitely recommend it, make sure you study!
few papers but they are super easy and he isn't a harsh grader. His class was so fun, informative and easy. Lectures are easy to follow and he does trivia for extra credit points after the lecture which really helps students retain the information. Definitely recommend him!
my 2nd class with him! great class, few assignments exams have short answer or essay questions that are very easy if you have attended the lectures. If you want and informative but easy class, I recommend him.
super easy class, as long as you pay attention during lecture you'll be ready for exams. you play trivia for each chapter which counts for extra credit for exams, be prepared to only be graded by 1 paper and 4 exams so you do need to do well on exams and the paper in order to keep a good grade.
Took him online, over the summer. Had a quiz every week, and had to write 1 paper is all that your grade is based off. His quizzes are based off the lectures, but you should probably read the book. The majority of the class got A's on the quizzes that are all online and you have 40mins to complete... Not a tough grader.
I was worried about a history class but Mr. T made it great. Funny and good guy. Beware you're only graded by exams and 1 paper. So it's all or nothing on exams. They are mainly multiple choice and few open ended. I went up to him beginning of year and asked how do I succeed with him: he said study the slides, take notes, and just crush the exams
Trivia after every lecture to earn extra credit points on exams and only one homework assignment in the class which is an essay.
Took online over the summer, lecture videos are provided each week (textbook is not required), 1 exam a week on blackboard (no zoom, around 40 multiple choice questions), 1 long paper around 1500-2000 words. Overall, easy class and work is graded fairly quickly.
