Tests are difficult and he throws in too many personal opinions.
unclear test questions, boring class periods, not too difficult/willing to help
TESTS ARE HORRIBLE AND GOES OFF INTO THINGS THAT DON'T MATTER WHEN HE TEACHES!

Tests are RIDICULOUSLY hard.... NOT RECOMMENDED
He seemed nervous, but the class was great and had only one test. Good guy.
This guy should never ever teach this class again I hope CMU learns their lesson
i loved this class. will talk about anything-2 pass, STUDY THE BOOK-funny guy
He asked me and my friends everyday to stop talking, F'02 5:00 You know who we b
his notes are terrible and do no apply to the test
what a sexy hairdo!!!!
Tests are not easy, but doesn't give a lot of homework
He doesnt teach what is on the tests
For being a UP this class was hard as hell and a waste of my time. Bad sense of humor, favors students, and horrible haircut! Take someone else!
Terrible class. Boring lectures...lots of notes. Tests are harder but quizzes are even worse. MUST READ THE BOOK. Don't take this class unless you want to do badly.
He really knows his stuff. This guy is one cool dude. He drives like a corvette.
If your a jrn major you have to take this class and I personally think it blows. He's a good teacher, but he does favor students.
This class was very hard and he didnt really teach that well. He tried but it just wasnt working. READ the stupid huge book and study for the dumb quizzes. Pay attention when he plays study games before a test.
He is very well-prepared for class, and he tries really hard to do a good job of teaching, i'll give him that. The exams were pretty tough, but he let us use an index card for them. i think this class is just inherently boring.
Class is a lot harder then it should be. He has a lot of trick questions on his test. DO NOT TAKE.
Boudreau is cool. True the law class is boring, but it's his first time teaching it so I'm sure he'll get better in the next couple of semesters. He's a very nice teacher and very willing to help you out. The tests are hard, but it's law...
He is really nice. The class is hard but he tries to help you. He brings a great deal of intelligence and practical journalism experience to the class. I thought he was really sexy in an intellectual sort of way
LOTS of notes. Tests are difficult, but he allows a note card. Very nice professor. He cares about teaching and accomodates students.

Good teacher, knows his stuff. Tests are difficult, long essays. Meeting for office hours are recommendable.
I thought he was really funny, I had a night class for 3 hours, so that was good. He really knew his stuff, and I would definately take another class w/ him. His tests are kind of hard, but he will give a study guide if you ask for it. :)
Pretty cool teacher. It was a 3 hour night class but I really enjoyed going. Tests were kinda hard but as long as you study you will do good. I would definately take him for another class.
Timmy is one heck of a teach. He not only bores you to death with pages and pages of notes, he incorporates games into his agenda. God, college, just like high school, only the teacher is balding.
Great teacher. Tests were hard, but I didn't study for them. Quizes weren't bad and he even dropped questions afterwards. Also, he's a very understanding prof, hell of a man.
great man
he is way cool
Great teacher, easy tests and quizzes, fun games, and cool videos. I really respect him.
gotta love the libel song, thats all i have to say
Horrible, horrible teacher. There are tons of notes and, when confronted with an entire class of failing students, says that we must not be studying hard enough. Also, that song about libel is a poor excuse for a way to "pep up" a class.
I think you either like Boudreau or hate him. I didn't think he was all that bad.
A great prof, especially with material that's kinda boring to present, such as media law. He honestly tried to make every class engaging. He tried to make quizzes and tests as easy and clear as possible without being blow-offs.
funny man, and great overall prof, tough material content wise, but boudreau takes care of that, and makes it a great class, i woudlnt want to take it with anybody else
Tim is a nice guy, very easy to get along wtih but i didnt really learn anything and i didnt find him too helpful when i went to him with questions.
I really don't think I learned anything from this class. We watched strange flicks and learned about radio history. That is about all I remember.
Kind of a nervous dude- it's hard to answer the way he wants. He's leniant when it comes to late papers or absences but doesn't necessarily teach the material in a memorable way.
Tim makes the classes enjoyable, but his tests are rediculously difficult to study for. If he puts something on the notes, you had better know all the minor details and why it is different from other things because he WILL ask you on a test or quiz.
Tim is a great professor. He goes out of his way to help a student out of they are having problems. The study guides for the tests were very helpful.
the reading was a ****, but I really liked him. He gave great examples, and aside from the long notes, he was interesting. Actually I thought the class was great. Just READ THE CHAPTERS and you can't fail
a TON of notes. Bases a lot of your grade on participation and attendence. Hard class to sit through...Haven't learned anything that's really of worth.
Not that bad of a class, i have a B with no studying. its pretty easy.
Interesting class taught by a prof with real life experience in journalism.
great teacher, interesting class, goes out of his way to make it enjoyable, very interested in class involvement and is very willing to help you out - tests with study guides and class imput, not a whole lot of writing - but worthwhile - sounds corny but i look foreword to class each time.

Excellent professor and makes learning the material fun. He cares about everyone's success and will help you out any way he can. I highly recommend him! He knows his stuff, his real life journalism experience helps.
He's not a bad teacher, but he doesn't always cover material that you'll be tested over, so the reading is a must. He grades essay questions insanely hard, so be sure you know your vocab for the multiple choice to help boost your test grades..
Great teacher. Go to class and study, you will do fine. He is willing to help if you ask. Very easy if you keep up.
Wonderful guy, tests aren't TOO bad. Just go to class and pay attention. Doesn't hurt to make friends with him by participating in class some. But don't overdo it and be annoying..
this class can be scary, but take notes and read the chapters TWICE and you'll do 'ok' on the exams. Can be a boring topic, but he's a fun guy and tries to make the class interesting! Not much on law regarding PR or ADV. mostly editorial stuff. try not to miss class, he'll add EC just for being ther
Tim's a really nice guy. If you don't screw around in his class he's willing to work with you. His tests and quizzes can be hard so study, he actually tests out of the book. But he allows you to use a 3x5 card on tests which is cool and sometimes gives study guides.
hes not a bad guy but i WOULD NOT reccomend this class. the tests are pretty hard and there is A LOT of material. so if you have the choice between tim and another teacher you might think about taking the other guy.
I would not reccomend taking his 6-9 class. I'm sure the mwf class might be better, but he is soooooooooooo boring and hard to take. His tests are ridiculous and he repeats himself when he talks. ...not my favorite person...he has a sense of humor and seems nice. but three hours of him is a bit much
You're either a complete moron, or a freshman if you have a problem with this guy.
I took this class for a UP and this was totally hard. The exams are hard but the quizzes were easy. You really have to show up to class to take notes and for in class points. Tim was awesome but I suck with essays and that is a huge portion of his exams.
Tim is a nice guy, but when the class average for an exam is a D WITH a note card, something is definitely wrong. He asks a lot of little things that don't seem to be covered in his class, and if you can't be make his night class every week, you're already at a disadvantage.
Great guy, very nice and silly. Class is rough to sit through (3 hours) and tests are very difficult. Before taking this class, I was planning on majoring in journalism... not anymore!
He's a fun guy, he makes learning potentially boring things fun.
His notes are a big rough, but he is very friendly and helpful. I found the exams to be easy and his weekly quiz keeps you on top of the information. He is very good at remembering the names of the students (we have a class of about 70 people) and he encourages class participation.
This is not bad, but this was his first year as an honors teacher, so I had problems with him not knowing what he's doing. That, and the class was 3 hours long.
I heard how Tim's exams and quizes were so diffficult and how he was a boring guy, but anyone who says that is ignorant. I'm a freshman, and i think Tim is an awesome guy with a good sense of humor, and the exams have info right out of the book, same with the quiz's. I'd reccomend him for sure.
Listen up kids, JRN 404 is a completely different story than that 101 easy as cake class.404 is like being hit in the face with a 2x4.The exams are horrendous.TESTING is the only thing you're graded on.I am majoring in JRN so i can WRITE, that's what journalists do. But not in this class, nope. Your grade is ONLY based on fill in the bubble testing
this class was awful. you can read the chapters 15 times and still get slipped up on the test. he'll pull little random stuff out of the 30 page chapter and expect you to remember insignificant stuff. he's very vague, unorganized, and seemingly trying to get you to fail. do not take boudreau, it's a death wish.
I though Tim was a really nice, fun teacher. As long as you read the chapters in the book you will do fine on the tests and quizzes. If you don't read though, you will probably not do too well. I had a good time in this class and recommend him to anyone interested in taking 101.
Tim's a good prof- the notes are short & to the point. For exams- go thru the chapter & study the bolded vocab. Anything that he gives you in the notes with list-type answers to a question, assume these will be short answer on the exam & study them. Show up to class b/c he gives in-class writings worth quiz grades. I loved this class- good prof!
The class is mostly reading, lectures and exams, but if you do the reading and show up to class, it's not too bad. Tim lets you have a notecard for tests and I think he genuinely cares about each and every student. He tries to be funny and break up the monotony of notes. I had him for 202 as well and was excited to have him again for 404.
Prof. Boudreau is very good at getting the point across... his multiple choice tests are a tad bit difficult though.
Tests are hard, but he makes class fun, cracks jokes and gives out random prizes... Suggest taking notes besides in class
Fun teacher! Hard exams! read and study!
TESTS ARE HARD... GPA ruiner
Boudreau is amazing. So helpful, so willing to listen, just an incredible guy. Very nice. Boudreau fo sho!
This proff rocks. Seriously my favorite teacher yet. Granted, his tests are hard. But he really wants you to learn, and gives you HUGE hints as to what will be on the test. This class was so much fun. Agreed, Boudreau fo sho!
The greatest! I feel like cheering everytime he walks into the room. He gives quizzes over chapters frequently, but if you read the text they are pretty easy. Tests aren't too bad either. He allows you to use a notecard of notes on the tests.
Great Prof. Definitely would recommend him for this class. Make sure you read for the quizzes and tests, and go to class. He has many pop quizzes, but they're easy if you read. He makes class really fun, and is always willing to help students. You'll learn a lot with him. BOUDREAU FO SHO!! :)
I took the honors course for 101 and Tim was really unorganized; the class was 3 hours long so that made it even worse. I think it could have been a good class but I really didn't care for him as a teacher; his tests are pretty hard.
Best professor ive had, read and you will get an A, his class is actually enjoyable
The class was very unorganized, not very enjoyable. Tests were hard and Tim was a hard grader..barely ever gave full credit-even when deserved. This was for the honors section of this course however.
The honor section was bad. He didn't lecture effectively. Maybe he was better in the regular sections, but he used the excuse "your honors students" WAY too much, clouding the actual material we were supposed to be learning.
He was not the greatest professor. Was unorganized, didnt really keep an order to the class. Would spring things randomly on the honors section of the class. having a 3 hour class at night didnt help. if it was broken up into 2 days, he mightve done a better job.
Tim is a really nice guy, but sadly he's pretty disorganized, at least for this class. We had a lot of technical problems with the computer though, so that didn't help him. The assignments are fairly easy, but the 2 exams were killers! Really long exams! But you get to use both sides of a notecard on it, so not TOO bad! Do final proj. early!
Dr. Tim doesn't know what he is doing. Very often he is extremely unorganized. I am sure that he knows a lot about the topic, but he did not present the material well. When using the notecard for the tests, i copied ALL notes on that card, and got a C on the test. Overall i got a B though. Rumor has it he doesnt give out A's. Watch out for Dr. Tim.
Ok, this teacher is awesome. Very easy, as long as you go to class. You can use nte cards on the tests, and every writing assignment you get is almost guaranteed full credit unless you just dont care. He is very helpful in class and outside. The class is very fun, i would def. take a course with him again
Pretty tough class, Tim tries to help you as much as he can, but he can only do so much. I really liked Tim, he's a nice guy and tries to make the class funny at times. You have to study your butt off though, make a few tests open book and most of the class still did bad. Be prepared for exams! Overall, I liked him, just a tough class.
Easy class, great teacher. Just make sure you read the chapters and you will do fine.
He is a great teacher. He is all about keeping you interested in the subject. The class is never boring. His test are usually open notes and book. You need to read the chapters though because he does have random quizzes. But they are super easy if you read.
I didn't want to take this class at all, I was dreading it! but he makes it soooo much fun!!! I love him, hes too cool. the class is kinda hard, but if you read the book and go to class you will do fine.
I really like this class and I really like the prof. He makes the class fun with his lame jokes and the tests aren't too bad. You HAVE to read the chapters though because he gives pop quizees every week.
This guy is by far my favorite professor. He is really funny and loves what he teaches. He is incredibly nice and tries to help you the best he can. I am definitely going to try to take a class with him again.
not only is this an interesting class-but the guy is hilarious! u have to read the book for the quizzes, but the exams are basically out of the notes so GO TO CLASS! if u pay attention and review the notes before the tests youll be fine
Professor Boudreau is a great guy who tries to make this class fun. Quizzes almost every week (miss 1-2 if you glance at the chapter) and exams (not too bad, just read) every once in a while. He reminded me of the guy with the mouse in the Green Mile movie. Has weird tendacies, but he's nice enough. Just don't sleep or skip and you'll do fine.
Awesome teacher who makes class exciting and enjoyable.
THIS GUY ROCKS! BEST TEACHER!! SO NICE AND CLASS IS SUPER COOL. AWESOME GUY!!
I got stuck in a three hour session for this class and Tim made it feel like any other class. He's fun, he's upbeat. Go to class because 90% of the quizzes and exams are from his notes. I shared a book with someone and hardly used it. You learn a lot and he makes it fun, I highly recommend him as a prof.
Boudreau is a pretty awesome teacher. He makes some funny jokes each class, and he gives things away. He seriously makes me wanna come to class just because of how interesting he can make journalism sound. He is a good man that will help out his students
boring class... but he's a fun guy... when you listen to him lecture, close your eyes, he sounds like Robin Williams :D we went of a field trip to a prison... extremely scary and intimidating... but strangely fun in a creepy sort of way... an "interesting" experience to be sure!
The material is kinda boring but he makes the class fun. He is funny and he can really get the class going during discussions. There are quite a few quizzes but if you go to class he will tell you when you're having one. Overall, nice guy but hard class due to the subject. It's all about examining the 1st Amendment.
LOL! Someone else thought that Boudreau sounds like Robin Williams. Seriously though, 404 would have been very hard for me if he wasn't the instructor. He made the class bearable.
Awesome prof! Always available and willing to help. He has give aways in class and makes the time there more fun. Barely any assignments, just quizzes out of the book and the chapters are short. Best prof I've had at Central so far- TAKE HIS CLASS!
Great teacher who is enthusiastic about the subject. Make sure to do all the reading and pay attention in class, or you will not do well. Also make sure that you don't have cell phones out in class.
This is how every course should be! He was very respectful, enthusiastic, cracked jokes, and made class fun. You can't be on your computer or phone, but class is very interactive that you don't need to be. You need your textbook, homework is to read chapters, and you have 10 question quizes on chapters. Easy and educating. Highly Recommended.
Awesome professor! He makes class very fun, but make sure to read your book or you won't do well.
I love this class!!!! He was a great prof. He deff made class fun and i reccommend him to all. If you take JRN 101 then i would also reccommend taking BCA 210 at the same time if you need that class b.c. a lot of the info is the same and it will help you do better on the tests
I LOVE TIM! :D he is really nice, funny and interesting. He cares about his students (didn't make us buy the textbook due to increase in price). LOVE HIM! TAKE HIM!
He is so laid back and easy to get along with, not to mention he actually cares about his students and how they do in the class. Nice easy quizzes and exams aren't bad as long as you understand the notes he gives. I would definitely recommend him!
This class had a lot of potential but Tim just didn't do it justice. He didn't really seem to know what he was doing. He's a really kind man, I just feel that the class could have been done better with.
Tim is a great guy and 404 is a great class. It's required of JRN majors and is really interesting, in no small part because of him.
Great class and great teacher. Very entertaining and keeps you on your toes. No book, easy grades except his exams. Study the notes well and you will succeed. Not an entirely easy course, but highly recommended.
Tim is surprisingly funny and keeps the class engaged. Attendance is recommended considering he gives random quizzes and in class writing assignments. If you're looking for an easy A for a UP: TAKE HIM.
Very good professor. Emails fill-in-the-blank notes before classes, and this class didn't use a book. Tim sent out readings and let us know what we would need to read for in class quizes. Exams are directly taken from the notes, so exams are very easy. If you had to take a Journalism class, take it with Tim. He gives a lot of visual examples.
He was so rude and not helpful whatsoever. His exams were beyond hard and he never gave extra credit. All the in class quizzes were really hard and too specific to remember little details from all the online reading he made you do. Don't take him. Not good.
Great professor. There's a ton of reading, but he makes it interesting and gives you the notes to fill in during class. My only complaint is that there's so much information to take in that the tests can be kind of overwhelming with so many facts, dates, and cases to remember. But he lets you use a 5x7 notecard on tests. Choose your words wisely.
A really nice guy. He is extremely helpful and willing to do whatever he can to get you through the course. The tests aren't easy, and you are going to have to do work. But if you make an effort you'll have no problems passing this class.
Best teacher I have had at Central so far!
He is an AMAZING professor! He does everything possible to help you get a good grade, you just have to pay attention. He also likes to give away random prizes just for being in class, such as old bowling trophies or hats. I would love to have another class with him!
Tim is awesome, he's helpful and hilarious. Take him at least once if you can. He's a really nice guy and tries hard to help you in anyway he can. Test in his class are often long and include everything you learned, so fill in all the notes he gives out and always read and take notes on the readings he assigns and you'll do fine. Take him
Pretty easy class overall, as long as you pay attention in class and follow along with the notes the class is helpful. Nice professor overall.
Loved this class!! Makes things easy and relatable. No book. Must print off notes to fill in for class. You must watch the news for current event quizzes. Pay attention in class and you'll get an A. Can make a cheat sheet for tests. Extra credit opportunities. Recommend him for anyone taking JRN 102.
Incredible teacher, very knowledgeable about the subject.. can help you with anything. I love all the speakers he brings into class. Participation in this class in crucial, so don't be shy, just make a few comments here and there about any subject you are discussing in class. Start watching the news now for current events.
Tim is awesome. If you can take him during your time at CMU, do it. He's a great guy and is really knowledgable about what he teaches. He has an impressive background in journalism and can help you with just about anything. The most approachable and easy-to-get-along-with professor I've had at CMU thus far. I would highly recommend him to anyone.
Hard, but he is a nice guy. He is really into this stuff. Exams are really long, hard, and specific. In-class exercises are easy. He does throw a lot of extra credit your way if you show up for class.
Tim was great! The class was not easy but if you study and read the book you will be totally fine. He is a great professor one of the best I have had at CMU
Great teacher, go to class as much as you can, read the textbook when he says to, obviously. He brings in lots of guest speakers and tries to get people really excited about being a Journalism major. Quizes are hard and so are exams.
For an "Intro to Journalism" class, I was very disappointed. Not what I expected at all. Test/quizzes were very difficult and he had to give the class so many "extra points" so students would not fail. Very disappointing after reading other reviews. Maybe he is better with Journalism majors.
Close your eyes during his lectures. The resemblance between Tim's voice and Robin Williams' is uncanny. Tim's courses are tough, but the payoff makes the reading, quizzes, tests all worth it because you actually LEARN and are able to take and apply this knowledge beyond the classroom. Actively incorporates humor into lectures and lots of EC opps.
While he's a really nice guy, he takes forever to get through notes, his exams are 80-100 questions long and they are super specific so you really need to pay attention when you read. Also, keep all your quizzes and test because there's a cumulative portion on the final even though he says there isn't....
Show up to class and you will do great. You can use a note card on tests, use it wisely. Participate and show up, he gives extra credit. Very intelligent professor, learned a lot from him about the field, brings in good speakers. Valuable class if you're a journalism major, and interesting anyway if taking for a UP.
Tim is a nice guy and he can make class interesting when he tries, but I thought his class was way unnecessarily hard for a 101 course. Quizzes and tests are super hard. Lectures are usually pretty slow and he really notices if you skip.
You have to buy the book, and ALWAYS read before the lecture. Gives pop quizzes that are right from the reading. His exams are 80-100 questions that are very specific. Not much homework besides reading. He is a nice guy, and loves the topic! Participation is important, and so is attendance. Just make sure to show up, talk some, and do the reading!
Makes lectures fun! I loved this class! He automatically gives 35 extra credit points!! Participation is expected and also 20% of your grade! Must read the book to pass the MANY quizzes he gives. Tests are long and hard but there are only 2 or 3. Must go to class everyday to get notes in order to pass tests/ quizzes.
Tim is my absolute favorite professor. He is so relatable and the fact that he is so clear with both his grading and what will be on tests and quizzes is amazing. For Media and Society, you have quizzes on every chapter straight from the book and the exams (2 and then a final) are mostly notes based. He also lets you use a notes sheet for t/q.
Awesome dude! I thought this class was going to be tough. As long as you show up and participate your golden. Hes very up to date with the news and what's happening. His voice is identical to Robin Willams!
Quizzes once a week (Read case studies/study from notes). Lectures are super boring, but very beneficial. No study guides, so pay attention to what he says. He goes over exams so highlight the right answers because they will appear on the final. I got a B+ and I did not really try. Quizzes are different, but the tests are all the same.
Wasn't a fan overall. Gets off topic on lectures and doesn't truly teach, almost reads the notes to you, which you can do by reading the book. Quizzes directly from the book and some questions from the notes.
Tim was a mediocre professor. There were a lot of in-class assignments and he graded attendance so showing up was a must. He cared about our opinions during class discussions. His weekly quizzes and monthly exams were pretty tough. There was a lot of reading in the class. Despite that, I would take him again. He really cares about his students.
This professor has been my favorite so far. He was such a funny professor and was very interested in journalism. He lets you know when there is going to be quiz and also lets you use. Notes. He's so awesome
Timothy was not a very good professor, he was very disorganized and all over the place during class. He never had a good flow for how class was supposed to go. He was also demeaning at times when he felt we should've done well on one of his impossible quizzes. He could've made the class a lot more interesting, fun, and interactive than he did.
I don't want to say that I hated this professor but he made my GPA drop dramatically! No matter how much I studied it was impossible for me to get higher than a D on his awful quizzes. They consisted of multiple choice answers but they had many parts to them and he often tries to trick you on them. His exams are the same but longer. Good luck. RIP
I don't know how he managed it, but Boudreau made media law interesting. He's a little standoffish, an entertaining guy. He sends out fill-in notes for his lectures which are incredibly useful. Some students complained about testing (the class IS test heavy) but if you study the notes you'll pass without issue.
Heavy reading for sure.
He is a great guy and makes class very fun because he is always opening up good discussion and let students talk freely. However the class work is extremely heavy for a 100 level class. He is a very tough grader.
I really liked him as a professor. Wasn't a bad guy, always made class entertaining. The subject matter was pretty boring, and I need this class for my major. The class really rely on the book, so make sure you have it. Reading is important, cause if you dont read you'll do bad on the quizzes and (long) exams. Also, attendance is mandatory.
Tim is so interesting and kind. He is really fair and really funny. He also offers extra credit opportunities.
He does his best to make media law interesting, provides good examples. Make sure you read the book otherwise you will not pass the quizzes. Tests are long but he lets you use a notecard on them. The class is hard work but it's doable.
Make sure you get the book and read it as the quizzes are all from the book. Tests are difficult but he lets you use a notecard. You should be fine if you pay attention and study. Participation is a big deal to him, so make sure you're doing that. He does his best to make the class interesting as the material can be boring sometimes.
Not that bad of a class. Wasn't excited going into it but he does his best to make it interesting. A big portion of your final grade comes from class participation, but if you're not into speaking out loud in class there's other options in order to get all of the points. Tests are difficult but you're allowed a notecard. There's also a lot of EC.
Professor Boudreau does a fantastic job teaching media law from a constitutional lens. If you go to class and participate you'll pass. One of the biggest problems with the class is the lack of critique around American laws and "rights". Most discussions are held within some borders of legality and the dogma can be nauseating.
He is a really cool guy. He makes media law as interesting as it can get and he gives an insane amount of extra credit opportunities. It is a class heavy on lectures but it is far from unbearable. He also makes really funny test questions and it is nice to have a teacher that does not take their job too seriously within the bounds of teaching.
