Easy class, and Brophy makes it decently fun. He makes it easy to make up labs you've missed for whatever reason. Study the lab from last week and his quizzes will be no problem.

Brophy is awesome! He make class fun just by being himself. He loves to connect with his students, so be prepared for fun jokes and an end of the semester party. He's also really good if you have a question or just need to talk about life. He builds in lots of fluff points for your grade. Tests are BIOL 200 level.

Chili pepper? How about habanero!!! Dr. B is awesome, his unique way of singing during dissections, generating his own "Yankovian" lyrics, he really brings "life" to the class. He also goes out of his way to help you feel sure of yourself. I once saw him fake sheer terror at the sight of a cow, run and dive under an elec. fence, now that's heart!

my fav. prof! He is so much fun. seems more like your friend than a prof. helps you out with grades. his office is always opened to hang out, talk, laugh, or be serious. best moment: pretending the model of a flower was a theme park and prentening to ride on the flower, and making a flower theme park song! he's amazing!

He is really animated in his teaching, making learning the material much easier.

Dr. Brophy is an awesome Biology professor, especially at 7:50. He unexpectedly adds music into his powerpoints which will either wake you up or make you laugh (especially when he sings them later in lab). Tests come mostly from lecture notes that are posted on Blackboard and are fairly straightforward.

Be honest, not everyone's first response to botany is "this is so cool!", but Dr. Brophy actually makes it worth going to class. He is so much fun, he makes sure you understand what he's teaching and is one of the most entertaining profs here. You even get to go on field trips for your labs, you're not always stuck in a room, he's awesome.

I am not a science person... Dr. Brophy is AMAZING and really helpful. I understand more about biology than I did when I started the class. He provides a lot of useful stuff like attendance points to aid in poor grades for those who struggle. Great teacher.

Dr. Brophy is awesome! He makes Biology really fun and is very entertaining in class. He showed a clip from the movie Napoleon Dynamite :) Very straight-forward class if you study for the tests. Very helpful in lab and in office hours. Highly recommend!!!

Dr. Brophy is a good teacher. He sometimes opens the floor for discussion on the deeper subjects (like reproduction and human life). He will take time for the student. And as long as you show up, you'll make a good grade. And his pastoral qualities reflects on his students. Definitely take him!

Great Teacher, helpful and makes class interesting. Takes questions during his lecture and really gets to know his students. He will call you out by name if you get his attention. Book is needed. Answers for the quizzes come from the book

I was SO thrilled when he took over for Dr. Sattler 3/4th of the way through Bio 200. He was so much less boring and an easier professor that if he had taken over sooner, I would have gotten an A. His tests were much easier!

Dr. Brophy is an easy class but so boring he reads straight off the powerpoint and the powerpoints are on blackboard so there is no point, but other than that he gives you everything you need to pass the class! Great guy, funny at times!! Take him for bio I am telling you it's worth the boring class.

Brophy is an excellent professor. He lets you do the quizzes on your own time as long as they are done before the end of the unit. His tests are difficult but just enough so you actual have to learn the material. He is an talented teacher and often lets class out early.

Dr. Brophy is a very generous man. If you ask for help, he'll be more than willing to give it to you. He tries his best to keep his lectures informative but still interesting. The subject itself is really hard, but he does a good job of explaining things.

sign in sheet for attendance, no homework besides extra credit quizzes that are only 5 questions each. if you study the notes we take in class which are off of power points posted on blackboard, you will get good test grades. he is a fun professor who's nice & occasionally lets class out early. He follows the power points so taking notes is easy

This class is a "weed out" course. Dr. Brophy was always available and was helpful. His tests are designed to make you apply the information that you know which makes them difficult. The last test and the final exam are given during the same testing period; however, the final is old test questions and is really easy if you memorize your old tests.

He is a nerdy guy but very caring!

I really enjoyed having Dr. Brophy. His tests are your only grades for lecture. There are 5 tests and the final. The five tests are hard and require quite a bit of review from lecture notes. The final is exact test questions from previous tests, so STUDY PREVIOUS TESTS!! I would definitely recommend him to any student.

Took Brophy in class for ENV 215. If you take notes from the lectures and read the book its pretty easy to get an A on the exams. There are usually 3 quizzes online before the test and the tests reflect the quiz questions. The tests really aren't hard if you take the quizzes.

Dr. Brophy is a hilarious professor who is excellent at explaining difficult topics. Biology is not my strongest subject but the way he taught the course material helped me to understand everything. His lectures were entertaining and instructive. I would definitely take him again and recommend him to everyone.

Funniest professor I took this semester. He can be very lecture heavy, but brushes it off at intermission with these loud groans that are funny to see (take the class to understand). He cares about his teaching, and makes taking his quizzes and tests a breeze by pushing all things per unit due on the night of the unit exam. Great structure.

Great professor! All lectures are going to be somewhat dry. However, he did the best he could to lighten it up and to give us a laugh now and then. He tested straight off of the powerpoint with a few easy application questions. There were no surprises in his tests.

If you want an A in this class, I recommend reading the textbook, as he makes most of his PowerPoints based on material from the textbook. If you put in the work to study his PowerPoints, you won't be surprised on the exams. He is a great guy and tries his best to make biology interesting. He also gives a lot of extra credit!!

Dr. Brophy is a great professor--really cares about his students, made lecture interesting, and gave extra credit opportunities. 224 is definitely a weed-out class so you've got to work hard. Study the PowerPoints like your life depends on it and you'll do great; I barely opened the textbook. Your grade is only the exams/lab grade so STUDY HARD!

Dr. Brophy is a great professor for this course. He is humorous, light hearted, and communicates the concepts effectively. Almost everything on the test comes from the PowerPoints which he makes available to his students. That being said, this course is definitely a weed-out course and does require a decent a lot of studying.

Dr. Brophy was, in my opinion, the best professor to take for Biology 224. He assigns a lot of material for his exams, but if you study the PowerPoints the tests are exactly what you expect.

Dr. Brophy is one of the kindest, most genuine, and helpful professors I have ever had. He wants all his students to succeed and makes himself available to help in many ways. Take advantage of his office hours, they really helped me in this course. He was always encouraging and enthusiastic in class or via email.

Dr. Brophy is fun, knows how to explain/dumb-down complicated subjects, and cares deeply about the field of biology. His lecturing is largely unnecessary, since nearly all his test questions come directly from provided PowerPoint slides. Study all the slides hard and the class isn't too bad (Don't buy the textbook).

Dr. Brophy is amazing! His classes are not any harder than other BIO classes. Study the powerpoints and you will do fine. One of my favorite professors. He is passionate about he material and very easy to approach. He cares about his students and makes class enjoyable. Don't listen to the complaints, he is awesome!

Dr. Brophy was an amazing professor for this class. As the director of Creation Studies, he was knowledgable about the subject and made the lecture fun. I personally love discussing creation and evolution, so this class was especially interesting to me.

I love this guy so much, he's funny and engaging. His classes are hard and his tests are nuanced though. Just be ready to study, and you'll have a blast.

Dr Brophy is a great prof. He will expect you to work hard for your grade but if you show up and study, you will do fine. This can be a tough class for those who don't have a strong background in the sciences, but if you are good at biology you will do fine. He's very funny and engaging, and gives EC and review sessions. Very passionate

Great professor, he cares about the class and in bio 101 he makes almost impossible to fail. All of his quizzes are open notes open books and online which was super nice, and his exams are all matching which is even nicer! Definitely recommend taking him!

I had brophy for BIOL224 and CRST290. His lectures are tough but the slides are detailed. I'd recommend taking notes from the slides in advance, then making a flow chart in/from lecture. Get to know him ASAP, if he knows who you are he goes out of his way to be helpful and he's a very insightful guy. Couldn't recommend enough

Dr. Brophy really enjoys what he does, and his class is really easy. However, if you are like me and don't find this area very interesting, you may not appreciate him keeping you late because he got sidetracked on some tangent, or on answering every question in the room. Overall though, it is an easy A and there is a lot of cool stuff I learned.

I loved Prof. Brophy for BIOL 101! He made the M/W/F class fun! He is hilarious, and I really needed this class before heading into the science field to give me a general overview of / introduction to biology. The tests are scantron and were easy to me if you studied. Quizzes were open note & very easy. He always starts the class with a "prayer"!

Professor Brophy's 224 class is memorization heavy, but test questions are based directly on his PowerPoint slides and are easily understandable. So long as you're willing to sit down and memorization PowerPoint slides, the class isn't very difficult. Brophy offers extra credit and many study materials as well.

Dr. Brophy is a great professor! Majority of the credits in this class come from exams but his exams are not very difficult if you study the PowerPoints given to you. He is very helpful during office hours and truly cares about his students succeeding.

I normally really hate discussion posts and find them annoying, but I really enjoyed writing the discussion posts for this class. It was so interesting and I found it fun to write!

Dr. Brophy clearly communicates his expectations and presents information well. Everything you need to know is on the PowerPoints. There is definitely a very large amount of information, and the tests are known to be difficult, but that is the nature of the course itself, not a reflection of Dr. Brophy. He is slightly monotone but also humorous/fun

This is a well-known weed out class, so be prepared. There is no homework, only exams but there is a lottt of material and tricky test Qs. (Beware of exam 3). Brophy is a great professor though; he can be a little monotone but he tries to be funny. Lots of extra credit. Don't buy the book and use the study guides and powerpoints.

!!!Pay attention to the power points!!! If anything else, review the power points and relisten to the lectures and you'll be fine. Scrap the textbook, you don't need it. Don't take any information on the power points for granted because at some point he will include them in his tests. Other than that, he is a very sweet and knowledgeable professor.

Test are the only grades other than labs Gives extra credit about 12 points. Test are only on the slides, he could ask anything that's on the slides and he does ask small questions that were mentioned just once on a slide. Final exam is just like the test. He does sometimes bump up a final grade to get an A ex 888 he probably bump to a 900. He good

Dr Brophy is a very lecture heavy professor, so if you want to do well on quizzes and exams in CRST290, make sure to come to class and use your fill in the blank notes. Those notes make up a good chunk of the quizzes and exams. Other than that, super easy class and pretty interesting. You can tell he's passionate about the topic.

he was good! tests are not as difficult or scary as he makes them seem. he does pretty much just read off of the slides which are heavily covered on exams soo do with that what you want. he's pretty funny too! overall a good class and I think he just tries to scare students with the passing graph on the first day.
