Very sophisticated in his lectures; so much so, that its very difficult to understand. I decided early on not to go to class and learn on my own and i was better off. He tries to be humorous in a very sarcastic way and it comes of as rude, but he can be fairly helpful if you approach him (and if you dont skip class) especially if youre a girl...

when i got the A in his class i freaked out because as me and all my classmates know...his tests are impossible. If you read before class and understand at least 2 or 3 of his sentences then you should be fine. READ STUDY READ STUDY (also be sure to utilize the brooker online study guide)

Dont take him! You will damage your GPA! His powerpoints are useless and so is his lecture. Read the textbook and use ARIS. The 3 exams dont count the final does, unless you do terrible on the final. Going to class is useless because he doesnt know how to teach, I dont know why people like him become teachers! Waste of time & money! AVOID!

He uses lots of research papers to teach in class rather then the TB which makes his lecture difficult to follow. Essay exams. You need to read, study, & PAY ATTENTION TO SMALL DETAILS when studying. It is possible to get an A, but not easy. Got a C+ midterm grade and pulled it up to an A. He is arrogant and rude, so talking to him won't help much.

You need to love bio to get an A in this class. You need to read your book, sometimes over and over again. You need to read the papers he gives you, and ask intelligent questions. Go to class. I loved this class; I learned more in one semester than I had in 18 years. Take him if you're ready to be an adult and take responsibility for your learning.

This professor really doesn't know how to teach. His questions are irrelant, and the exams would've been easy if a reasonable teacher graded it. But his grading is verycrny. He's also very mean and unhelpful.

Besides having poor teaching skill and bad performances, this guy has another problem: disrespect and insulting! He is the most sickest professor in the ENTIRE UNIVERSITY! He insults students and is unhelpful. He has a terrible attitude.

Not the worst professor I've ever had. He talks for long periods of time, assigns multiple textbooks, some of which are very simple to read, gives mostly simple tests and plays interesting documentaries. He also looks a lot like Jerry Garcia; overall, not great, but satisfactory.

Good teacher for the most part. I'm currently taking his Infectious Disease course, 1000c; you'll do well on his test, as long as you study! I haven't gotten much use out of the required books; he assigns readings, but no one really does them. He gives a review sheet for the test, and most answers can be found online.

Dr. Carter is one of the best teachers I've had at St. John's. His class is by no means easy and you WILL have to study, but he is fair and curves so even though I got Bs and Cs on the tests, I ended up with an A in the class. He is also very willing to help if you have an interest and he knows you're studying. Stop by his office.

idk why everyone is complaining so hard. he's really annoying and his tests are hard as shti but its doable if you actually pick up the textbook and read. he's an extremely hard grader but he curves it deep. what other professor would make an 85 an A- ? he's not easy, but this is an honors course, so grow up.

He's not a bad guy but he teaches from a organic chem class. So a lot of what he says will have you confused. 3 exams but if you do fantastic on the final then he only grades you based on that grade. I bought the book and used it often plus the mastering biology code, he uses that for homework assignments.

He's very hard, I must admit. On my first test I got a D.But with intense studying and a little extra help from someone that took his course already- His tests aren't so bad. I didn't do hw, had a D test garde and I managed a B+ and I'm pretty sure my avg was around the low 70s. Just be warned that his tests arent your typical bio memorization test

Those tests of his are not to be underestimated. Read the book verbatim and you still won't ace those tests. Most of the points in his tests are essay based so that's a lot of points possibly bleeding out of your fingertips. Also, it's lecture 90% of the time. My GPA plummeted. Just don't do it.

One of the best professors I have ever had. Not easy at all but makes you think like a scientist, which is how it should be. More than willing to spend hours for individual help. Make sure you read what your supposed to because the lectures are really a supplement to that.

His tests are all short answers and essay questions. You need to be very detailed with the answers or he will take off a lot of points if you try to BS your way through it. Just read the textbook and look at the practice questions there and you will be set. Carter treats this class seriously, and so should you when it comes to studying. Take it ez.

Honestly my favorite teacher first semester. Learn your amino acids. He only lectures about what he thinks is interesting or really important, so I was almost never bored. To me he is hilariously inappropriate, so if you get offended easily don't take his class. Also, he provided an online copy of the book for free. He wants you to do well.

He's a chill dude, you can chat w him easy. But he's more into research and really specific syntheses, not really teaching the basics. His lectures assume youve read the entire chapter and pharm students have orgo, so were not gonna be reading alot for bio. Imo, it's not necessary to get stressed over this class if ur in pharm. take Regular.

Hardest and worst class I've ever taken. He expects you to understand the topics thoroughly somehow just from the readings and doesn't explain things clearly. Very smart but just simply cannot teach. Two midterms and a final, but he drops the lower one of the midterms. You will need tutoring for this class!! Avoid him at all costs.
