im taking him in summer session rt now. and im very stressed out. he requires a lot of work, and its not going to be easy. now imagine in 12 week session? He is clear in his lectures & he has us watch a lot of films with film write up's.
DO NOT TAKE, I repeat DO NOT TAKE. Alot of reading, alot of writing and long, hard tests. Too much work, just too much work. OVERWHELMING!! If you take his class don't take any other class with it b/c it is impossible to keep up, but he grades on a curve so that might save you.
He is a great leture, but you must also do the readings if you want to pass his class. I learned a lot from him, however he is a nit absent minded at times.
If you don't want to read a lot and take "three" midterms and "two" finals, don't take this class. This prof. is one of those types that eats and sleeps history. He always comes into class with a s**t load of xerox handouts so you, the overworked student, can read till you're buried.
run! runaway, fast! dont stop, faster, faster, run for your life. trust me, you will suffer if you dont!
Preety good professor in my opinion.
I really respected him. However, I wouldn't recommend him if you are taking the class strictly as a course requirement. He is not for those who don't love history.
Very knowledgeable.
this guy assigns so much work and we even used 4 books in his class. i dropped the class after the first quiz which was more like a final. lotsa questions on the primary documents to answer. we also had to do these movie (cartoon rather) write ups. i was so turned off by this class.
I had him for themes in American history I. He gave a lot of work which is only helpful if you plan on being a history major. I took his test and it didn't even match up to what was done in class. I spoke to him and he wasn't helpful at all. I even e-mailed him and he never responded. I dropped the class. A good professor would never do that.
Good professor, hard at the same time. gives stacks of homework, classwork, and readings. Be prepared to spend lots of money on all his books, I had to buy 5 of them. Nonetheless, you'll learn lots of interesting things!
THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST AND MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD. HE IS VERY PASSIONATE AND ENTHUASTIC ABOUT HIS LESSONS AND IF YOU ARE A PERSON WHO LIKES HISTORY OR IS PURSUING A DEGREE IN HISTORY, DR COOGAN IS THE MAN FOR YOU. HE GIVES LOADS OF HOMEWORK AND YOU HAVE TO BUY MANY BOOKS BUT HES GREAT.
I had him twice. I am a glutten for punishment. The other classes were closed so I had no choice. I delt with 2 semesters of stress. We had 3 books plus a bunch of xerox's. He is very inconsistant. He is not on top of things. You will go crazy with him. You would think I was going for a Master's or Doctrine's with the work load. It's over!
Must take his class if you like history. Don't take his class if you don't like reading. A lot of work, but it pays off. And although he gives a lot of homework, that's your chance to improve your grade. He uses a lot of books, but they're cheap. Definetely very knowledgeable. If you want to learn about this country he's your guy...
I find professor coogan to be very inspiring
not a hard teacher real cool not strict and real nice his class is not that hard to pass
He is a cool relaxing teacher... he does not have favorites and does not have attitude, he just does his job and grades easy... but he does give alot of reading to do and alot of h.w. at times... just stay on top of your work and study for the test and you should do just fine.
Great professor and very knowledgable and loves and cares about his job and a good guy
Everybody is right when they say, you have to love history to be in any of professor Coogan class. I had him for two history classes. He requires alot of books and xeriox copies which you might not use all. His quizes are more like midterms full of questions. Which he doesnt prepare you for. All in all I wouldnt take his classes again .
Great teacher. very cool and laid back and understands what students go through. tests are fairly easy and as long as you do the homework youll be fine. highly recommend this prof. has a vast knowledge of history and sociology and conveys it in a highly comprehensive manner.
he is a great man, very helpful and easy going.
I took Dr. Coogan for the history of New York City. I really found him amazing and I don't know why people like to complain how hard he is. If you enjoy history and alot of reading he is not a problem. Plus alot of reading your in college what are you complaining about. If anybody were to talk bad about Coogan then they don't belong in College
I'd him for the History of NYC clas. on the 1st day, it seemed like he is horrible and gives a lot to do. but then we didnt care to do and he neither cared much.1 was in clas and otehr Exams were take home & 2 easy papers to do. we enjoyed ..take him if u want good grade. very easy and helpful.he is always prepared & has passion to teach..TAKE HIM!
He is the best teacher laguardia has to offer !!!
Prof.Coogan is very passionate about teaching, and making sure student learn and understand he had great insight.
Prof.Coogan is very insightful and knowledgable you walk out of his class with a wealth of knowledge. He posseses great knowledge and experience. Excellent, he is a Gem.
HE PROVIDES YOU WITH A WEALTH OF KNOWLEDGE AND INSIGHTS,HE IS ALSO GIFTED, ACCOMPLISHED AND PASSIONATE ABOUT TEACHING. EXTREMELY HELPFUL TO HIS STUDENT.HE IS AMONG THE BRIGHTEST AT LAGUARDIA.YOU WOULD LOOK FORWARD TO EVERY CLASS HE TEACHES.
he's boring, i try to stay focus but something about the tone of his voice makes everyone in class put their head down. however, he does teach pretty well. he knows his material from front to back. recommended to take him if you are really into history.
HE IS GREAT TEACHER, TAKE HIM. HE GIVES A LOT OF HOMEWORK BUT IF YOU DO YOUR WORK, FILMS, DISCUSSIONS, AND DOCUMENTS. YOU SHOULD GET AN "A". I DONT LIKE HISTORY BUT HE MAKES IT INTERESTING. I RECOMMEND HIS CLASS TO ANYONE.
Get deep into history and passionate lectures with Dr. Coogan. Helpful, insightful, and fun. Recommended!!
very helpful and passionate....don't take this history class as an "easy class" because it is a lot of work....if you are into history he is probably the best professor you could have...
he is nice and patient but a looooooot of homework!
if u don't like history, don't take his class! He required a lot of work. However, he is good for the people who love and interest in history.
i loved the class and he is a good teacher however dont be fooled it you have him in the short section it's not an easy A he covers everything necessary 5 books were required for the class.
quite possibly the most boring and annoying class ive had so far. the workload is so overwhelming that if you are inclined to take this class, then make sure its your only class. and make sure you keep up with the homework, because once you fall behind even one or two, thats enough to put you in a hole that you probably wont get out of
Dr. Coogan must be kept up with. Learned so much in this class, but definitely take in 12 weeks, on't dare take in short session. A LOT OF READING AND WIRING A LOT. And you must try to keep his deadlines. But, he is extremely fair. GOOD LUCK!!
The work load for this class is heavy and he makes you use the book a lot. But it is interesting and fun. The test is easy specially if it is open book because all you do copied from the book and he will take it. An A+ in this class is a given.
very tough class expect to finish a 600 page custom made class booklet during the semester. gives take home exams, ex: 11 questions and each question has from 2 to 5 subquestions (really up to 55 questions) and each subquestion requires you to read about 40 pages, so thats 200 pages for 11 points. Alot of extra credit but u will have no time to it
Lots of work, but worth it! The professor is very good.
he is horrible, boring , confusing...gives lots of homework...his exams are about 2 or 3 hours with a take home part...Run away from him....horrible...hated
LOTS of work.... Too much for what is worth. An exam that is worth only 10 points will take you at least 2 hours. RUN FROM HIM IF YOU CAN!!
Exellent professor, very fair, a little off sometimes, but cool!! Makes class fun!!
Dr. Coogan is a great Professor, if a student is interested in learning about History I would strongly recommend him. If you're taking his class because of curricular requirements (like me), then you should know that as long as you do the assignment and put your best effort, Dr. Coogan will reward you for it! Excellent Professor, take his class!
He knows a lot about what he is teaching BUT he is very confusing with his organization and spends forever trying to figure out things on black board as for the work load he is unreasonable and doesn't understand that we are not robots who can memorize all of the readings. He would be awesome if he knew how to balance things out and worked with us
Professor Cogan is a great professor. He is a helpful professor. take him because he will teach you lots about history
Knows about History, but he is extremely disorganized and gives reviews for tests mostly one day before the test or even, the same day of the test. Excessive amount of homework. Flexible with dates students have to submit papers.
Professor Coogan very knowledgeable about this subject. He may not be the easiest professor to take and is not someone I would recommend to take during the shorter sessions if you are taking other classes. I do feel like he gives you a real taste of what a 4yr school would be like and is overall very easy to talk. Ifyou're upforachallengetakehim.
Excellent professor!!! Easy to talk to and very flexible with due dates. He is very informative. Do your reading and listen to his lectures He does not spoon-feed you. His reviews might be a day before the exam or the day of the exam just to ease your anxiety. It is your responsibility to do the work. Happy studies.
He is extremely intelligent, and knows A LOT about the History of New York City. He provides you with a wealth of information. He gives a lot of work that includes a large number of handouts, a lot of reading and writing, online work. If you think you'll ease by without doing work your highly mistaken. Great course if your truly interested.
Pay attention in class, do your readings in accordance with the syllabus dates and one shall be fine with the class. i procrastinated like crazy which made the work overwhelming. work load was high in comparison to other courses, but hey, it's college. overall, dr.coogan is highly passionate & a understanding guy. coogan is not for the weak minded
Dr. Coogan is exceedingly knowledgeable and passionate about the history of NYC. He is very understanding and gives plenty of time for make ups. That being said, DO NOT PROCRASTINATE! There is a lot of reading and writing involved and playing catch up is beyond overwhelming. This is a great course and he is an amazing teacher, but you cant be lazy.
Actually he is really hard professor. I needed just an easy grade cause i'm bad at history and I don't like it. But with him you gotta work hard! For people who are history major he is great. But not for me. You gotta write a lot of papers. I'm so happy I'm done with his class. But I did my best and got A!
He talks too much and the coursework is very challenging. If you want to challenge yourself with a very challenging course. Take him. No real student/teacher interactions.
Dr. Coogan is an amazing historian. If you enjoy history I recommend taking his course. Otherwise I advise you to stay away from prof. Coogan. His coursework is VERY challenging! One of the most challenging courses I've ever taken. My page count for his midterm was 35 pages. If you are not ready for this I advise you to drop ASAP!
Had to withdraw from this class because I knew I was going to fail. He is very hard. We needed 4 TEXTBOOKS! work load was INSANE! If you want to fail, TAKE THIS CLASS!
he is a great professor just like to speak alot about history. he can go one but i understand because that is his passion ) knows a lot about history just asks for too much textbooks ....(4 to be exact) in overall, gives extra credit, take home assignments and fair grader p.s gives a second chance so you can do a better job. enjoy.
This professor gave work that he himself couldn't even grade, I think he thinks his class is the only class his students have to take, he is not very helpful and he does not read your work. His lectures are long and boring. If you want to be stressed out, take his class
Extremely disorganized. This man did not give us the full syllabus until the Fifth week. He also requires 4 textbooks which shows his lack of consideration for struggling students. To be fair, he knows what he is talking about. He is an extremely smart guy, just a terrible professor.
Prof. Coogan gives extreme amounts of work. I am lucky I got out alive, I had to get three of my friends to help me finish his work. He is smart, the films and readings are interesting (sometimes) but the work load isn't even worth the knowledge. I got an A- but my social life is gone now.
He is very passionate about what he teaches which is probably why his lectures were always super long. It's a lot of writing, especially little essays on Blackboard and he gives a ton of extra credit. Get ready for films. His tests have way too many parts but overall I learned a lot about technology and how to write better from his lectures.
Get ready to work! This professor right here makes you work until your hands fall off. He is very educated in history. He gives A LOT of extra credit.
Well, I stick with this class because I didn't have any choice, but I HAVE NEVER DONE SO MUCH WORK AS I DID IN THIS CLASS... I worked so hard in this class more than any other class.. He is really good professor but he procrastinated so much, came to class late, gives A LOT OF READING PLUS the test he gives a lot to do.
Completely ruined my life for 3 months! Gives 4 exams, an essay divided into three parts, between film write ups and reading assignments probably over 50 assignments all together. Exams take up to 90 mins and there WILL be a take-home portion for them(6 essays). He was still adding h.w while everyone was preparing for finals. Complete nightmare.
Timothy Coogan is a very great teacher. He is hard on the students but it is a great opportunity to be in his class because he really knows his stuff. Despite the fact that he gives a lot of homework and readings, he is very lenient. He gives many extra credit assignments that help to boost your grade if you feel that you are behind. :)
This class was a nightmare. My anxiety levels were through the roof all throughout. You can tell he's very passionate about the subject and incredibly intelligent, but it falls short considering he's extremely unorganized and leaves you hating everything about the class. Lots of hw's and exams. Prepare for hell during finals week. I need a vacation
Passionate, sweet professor but thinks everyone is a historian! I've never worked so hard in my life and yet was left with 4 write ups which i just refused to complete from b/c of exhaustion. You do learn a lot but he honestly shouldnt be allowed to give SO MUCH work. It literally sucked the life out of us. I cried several times :(
The hardest class I've ever taken. PLEASE take his class alone b/c you WILL need every min. of your time to be able to handle it. I find all his h.w so unnecessary since he does a good job lecturing. The class was full in the beginning and ended up with just a handful of us b/c its extreme. I had another 3 classes so yes, i almost died w/ his class
This class with this professor was an complete nightmare. My anxiety and never breakdown levels were through the roof all throughout. He's very passionate about the subject, but it falls short considering he's extremely unorganized. the test were extremely difficult. I would never ever take a class with this professor. I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!
Just Drop his class immediately if you havent done so. He gives sht tons of homework and its very confusing, because you can almost never find where he puts the readings and documents online. besides giving sht tons of homework, i dont think he teaches anything, make you read tons of PDF that he used every year then throws you lists of questions.
His course plan should be disapproved by like the board of ed or something . Insane is not even the word. This prof. gives work he cant even read and fairly grade. You can be doing the hw in another language & he wouldnt even know. His office is a disaster. Yes he's flexible with due dates but he has to be because the workload is impossible to do.
The most disorganized Professor I've ever encountered. His lectures are absolutely dreadful, he spends more time questioning students about history than teaching the material. The amount of homework he assigns is immoral and completely inconsiderate. He may be intellectual but that doesn't make up for how the lack of professionalism he has.
no idea how i survived his class. everyday was a nightmare. i took the entire spring break week doing homework non stop from morning to night to finish his syllabus and with all bb assignments and ridiculously long take home exams and films, i had no free time EVER. do not take his class unless u absolutely have to and if u do, take it alone.
Good guy, but steer away from his class. Very unorganized so don't depend on him or his blackboard skills for clarification or guidance. Would have failed had I not followed the syllabus religiously (which he didn't post for two weeks in!). The homework load is pretty heavy so expect to dedicate a slot of your time to readings every single day.
Slightly unorganized but probably one of the most knowledgeable professors I've ever had. I felt like I learned a lot and most of the reading was interesting. Classes were extremely lecture heavy but Professor was very accessible during break and office hours. Course load was most intense I've had in my two years at college.
I had the best experience on taking his class Very knowledgeable and yes, expect a lot reading but we are in college what do you expect to have it easy well sometimes you cannot. I am ending my college years having the best experience taking his class. Expect a lot of reading, participate on his class and take the best.
I took this class during Fall 2, only recommend it if you know you will be on top of your work. Professor Coogan is very passionate about his class. There is a lot of reading but this class gets your feet wet because it is as close to a regular class in a senior college! He is actually willing to work with you and gives extra credit!
There was no way I or any of my other classmates would make it out alive with this guy. 3 weeks in and no syllabus. Readings scattered everywhere, completely unorganized. He drones on in his lectures and tends to ignore people with questions or even responses.
Mixed feelings, he gave way too much homework for students that work and go to school full time. He's a tough grader on exams and papers. But he did offer enough extra credit for people to pass.
He is a great professor, he peaked my interest in history, you will learn something and be able to apply it to your other classes. His exams and homework are pretty straight forward. He is caring and explains everything because sometimes he can be a little disorganized. He gives lots of extra credit, and plays movies. Prioritize and time manage!
very unorganized and iressopnsible, often loses students handed in assignments. His take home exams consists of three essays. Didn't learn not one thing. His posts on blackboard are poorly photocopied and the films he shows aren't clear to understand.
Absolutely terrible. His blackboard is filled with reading assignments that aren't organized. No syllabus given until halfway past the semester. Lectures are pointless because he goes off track during them. I am surprised that this man is allowed to teach. I obtained more knowledge skipping his class and doing my own research with my own sources.
I took Professor Coogan back in 2014. He is a great professor and knows his stuff about technology and science, but his lectures are LONG. Although the essays are short, like around 250-350 words, there are A LOT of them. Textbook is a manual that was only $20. Good class and good professor, just get ready to write. Tests are very short and easy.
although there are lots of work in his class, he is very professional on his field. i like the way he gives every lecture, his goal is not only for a class, but also he wants his students to understand history more.
STAY AWAY! He gives tons of homework and bb his filled with useless articles. He is very unorganized. There is two different books you have to read and the exams are all based on them. He is a tough grader but gives extra credit. If I was you, I'd drop the class ASAP!
Coogan is a sweet man, but I have to say that every aspect of his class is HIGHLY DISORGANIZED! Syllabus/Lectures/Blackboard were a total disaster, and totally incomprehensible. Throughout the semester lecture time was wasted trying to explain Blackboard and Syllabus His level of disorganization is a huge strain, and distracts from the class.
The Professor thinks people have no other classes to take, no job and no life. He forgets what readings he assigned for exam in class and shocks you one day before the exam by adding 100 more readings at the last minute. Maybe a memory loss issue?
WORSE CLASS EVER !! He gives tons of homework right before exams his lectures are horrible he has no syllabus DROP THIS CLASS WHILE YOU CAN DONT LET HIM RUIN YOUR GPA ITS NOT WORTH IT .. I've been in this class since September and have not received one piece of graded work I have no idea how I'm doing he's worse than horrible RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN
He's horrible, disorganized, too much homework, take home test aren't worth the effort. Countless pages to read, homework, homework, take home test, blackboard, essays. He just asks for too much. He seems good at first because he's passionate about what he talks about, but he's so scatterbrained you just lost listening to him. RUN, DO NOT TAKE !!!!
Professor Coogan is very knowledgeable and gives great lectures. HOWEVER, he is extremely disorganized and gives way too much work. It was a stressful few months trying to keep up on something you have lost complete interest in.
I dropped his class for Spring 2018. He spent the first few days of class talking about the syllabus that was incomprehensible. His blackboard is all scattered & hes always late to class. He gave us an exam with a study guide that had nothing to do with what we learned because he spent most of his time explaining the syllabus and not the lecture.
Professor Coogan, is a very laid back teacher, but beyond unorganized... talk about the syllabus for the first 3weeks of class, you can barely understand where any of the work is on blackboard, gives a ridiculous amount of home where if you seriously arent on top of it there is no way to ever complete everything he asks for..
I have to admit with honesty that I learnt a great deal of historical events in this class. But my learning has very little to none contribution of professor Timothy Coogan. He is a nice guy with outdated methodology of teachings. His course load was heavier than my physics and biology class. I spent my entire spring break doing his 178 homework
Professor Coogan was extremely disorganized and gave us insane amount of homeworks. With 178 primary documents to read, discussion board and 9 films, I almost broke down. I learnt a lot because his test is extremely difficult especially matching and multiple choice. Having said that you will learn a lot and able to impress your family.
He spent 50% of class time to speak on the syllabus. Disorganized , for a 6 week course he gave us work worth of a 25 page syllabus plus he would add more readings in class and work. I barely learned anything because it was just TOO MUCH !!! I was trying to keep up with his work rapidly and not learning anything from it. This was just insane. Sorry
Dr. Coogans excessive amount of workload required from students should be considered an abuse on a students mental health. Please, do not take this, or any of his courses.
Im into my 4th week in his history class and can I say his class is probably the most confusing thing ever. I usually love history but his disorganization makes me want to cry!! His lectures are awfully long and boring.
At the beginning it was hard because of the syllabus but we talked through it in class and we are able to understand more. Overall, he was a pretty great professor he may be disorganized but he had really good lectures prepared. He was also very understanding and gave enough time to give work in also he accepted homework before the semester end.
Extremely disorganized and assigns an excessive amount of homework. You will never know how you're doing in the class, only ever received one exam back. Syllabus not given until halfway through the semester. Extremely forgetful and lectures very convoluted. Was late to every single class.
overall, great professor. Tons of HW from various books and class time is spent listening to him talk about the topic of the day.
He's a nice guy. There's a lot of homework that's not given a due date. I suggest trying to get them done ASAP. Do not wait until the end of the semester. His exams are EXTENSIVE (matching, multiple short responses, and take home essays). Blackboard was confusing it contained over 300 different items to search through for PDF's for class discussion
He's an excellent proffessor. You must complete the homework on time cause he is very generous to give no due date but if you leave it last minute I'm telling you-you're probably gonna spend days doing them all. He also has discussion assignments on the blackboard. Read the Textbook/PDF's by chapters so that you can be prepared on his tests.
don't try to take him
Not a hard class, lots of homework but professor Coogan is fair with grading.
A little bit of advice, SEARCH UP YOUR PROFESSORS BEFORE TAKING THE CLASS. This guy is absolutely so disorganized and No joke assigned 45 reading assignments with writing assignments all for the first exam!!!! Everything he wants you to do is scattered all over blackboard. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
The professor is easygoing and interacts and gives feedback. But as I'm sure you've read already, his content on BB and assignments are the embodiment of the word Disorganisation. You will try to understand what he exactly wants but you won't. Doing calculus while learning piano and Chinese to me still feels easier. Tough Grader as well. Stay away!
He is a little old school and does not read off any type of powerpoints which is why some may feel lost in the class. But honestly, if you hand in all homework and do okay on the tests you'll definitely pass. He is also very lenient when it comes to handing in work.
Coogan is very passionate when it comes to history, he does give a lot of reading assignments as homework but he also allows you hand in homework when you can. He shows films to help students make connections with what he has taught in class and most of his quiz/exams are open book. he's also super sweet
Professor Coogan is one of the best professors Ive ever had. He always gives feedback and hes there to help when you need him. He thoroughly explains topics and keeps it interesting by bringing in articles and even original songs from certain time periods. Very interesting class. Professor if you ever see this youre great.
Professor Coogan is caring with online classes because of the pandemic, he encouraged the students to at least pass the class for the credit we had the option to only accept the credit so it won't affect our GPA. ill be honest I put less into mind in these classes and concentrated in my science major class. but he gave me the opportunity to pass.
Want to do over 30 assignments that have 5 or more assignments inside of each individual assignment? Want to feel lost and experience stress at high levels because your e-mail never gets a response? Take this professor if you don't want to learn and like to feel like you are failing in class.
If I could give him a 0 rating I would. This class was horrible because he was unorganized and didn't show up for one week. He sent over 600 assignments and I lost a patch of hair on my head from just taking this class. I hope people stay away, at least for their health.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. He is unorganized, unclear, and gives no feedback. We had 514 uploads in a 3 week semester. He didn't have class until the end of week 2 so we did hundreds of assignments in a week and a half. WORSE class ever. Got an A but I would have ran if I knew this would so horrible. LOTS of work is an UNDERSTATEMENT /
I started taking Dr. Coogans class in person but due to COVID that changed. He uploads a lot of weekly readings to Blackboard and there are required books that you do have to purchase. The work itself is not difficult but the amount of work is overwhelming, if you have a job or other responsibilities I do not recommend this course.
-Confusing course material. -Poor understanding of BBOARD. -Scattered documentation and textbooks (you will basically feel like resolving a puzzle trying to find right documents and textbook pages) -When asked questions about glitches that might occur through his own course material, his response is "i honestly don't know". -Less focus on quality
THIS PROF GIVES TOO MUCH WORK FOR LITTLE TIME. ESPECIALLY DURING THE PANDEMIC?HE GIVES THE SAME AMOUNT OF HOMEWORK AS A REG 12 WEEK COURSE! HE DOES GIVE ALOT OF EXTRA CREDIT THAT IS USEFUL. EVEN THOUGH I GOT AN A IN THIS CLASS I PROB WOULDNT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PASS WITHOUT TAKING IT TWICE AND HAVING MY PREVIOUS HWs SAVED ON BB. GOOD LUCK
His blackboard is such a hot mess, and he doesn't even know how to record classes. Once he misnamed an assignment and instead of being responsible for his own mistake, he blamed me for submitting the wrong assignment. If you want to take him, good luck and get ready to be drained emotionally. NEVER AGAIN.
Prof. Coogan was so sweet, no exams but he assigned about 100 homework, however they did not need to all be completed in order to get an A. He also often read of his slideshows without showing us but we didn't need to know that exact information, only what was in the chapters of that day's assignment. Overall, easy A class. Definitely take him!!!
Although Coogan is very unorganized on blackboard, he is lenient. He made all assignments due at the end of the semester, he provided the texts needed, and he didn't even care about accuracy, (I submitted the same assignment for different homeworks and he did not notice). Easy A class for sure.
Easy course as long as you keep up with the work. No exams and a ton of homework with short open ended questions. Do not slack off because the work will add up quickly. Easy A
Very good Professor.
Worst class I've ever taken. Excited to learn more about minorities, but upon first meeting Professor Coogan it was terrible. Firstly, he was late every class time even though the class started at 545. He gave way too much hw and had no structure at all. He doesn't check email, nor knows anything about online tech. He should retire.
Easy A very kind man.
He is passionate about his work, He gives great feedback. You do get to pick and choose with assignments and there are no due dates, but you must still try to keep up with the work. He himself is not too strict with the students tardiness, if by a few minutes lates. Always accessible through email, a very nice understanding Professor!
To give a brief idea of what this class is. "In order to pass this class you have to accumulate 360 points." Assignment : Write a 3 page paper on how blah blah blah blah blah blah worth 6 points". The amount of work needed for a 101 class is simply outrageous. The blackboard is unorganized and he talks to himself for 3 hours . Inconsiderate
I loved this professor! Yes, his blackboard is a mess (don't panic!!!) and he's not too savvy in the technology department, but he basically allows you to a la carte the assignments (not all) you want to complete to reach the 500 points required for an A. Also, no real due dates and he's pretty generous with extra credit points for each assignment.
He was compassionate nonetheless. I would not recommend taking his class. Even though i got an A in his class, the stress that comes with his assignments and his blackboard is not worth it.
Professor Coogan is an okay professor. He's not good because he doesn't give you points based on the number of assignments submitted. You need 275 points and up to pass his class, but he doesn't add all the points from the work submitted on BlackBoard. I suggest you don't take this professor because he won't give you the final grade you want.
SAVE YOURSELF. DON'T DO IT.
Professor Coogan is an okay professor. In order to pass his class, you need 275 points and up, but he never added the points I deserved from the assignments I submitted. If you want to save your GPA, don't take him because he won't give you the grade you want based on how many points appear on the syllabus.
Professor Coogan is okay, but he's not a good professor because he doesn't grade all of the work you submit. You need 275 points and up to pass his class, but he doesn't add the points. I will never take him again because he gave me a low grade in his class. If you want to save your GPA, don't take him.
The main issue with this professor is the amount of homework he posts for such little time. I took the short six-week fall semester online. While the work wasn't too difficult to complete, it was work enough for a full semester. He didn't grade anything until after grades were due and took a while to answer emails.
Do not think about taking this professor. He doesn't know what he is doing.
I cant believe how this professor doesn't have a 5 for perfect because he was truly one of the best teachers I ever had. Straight forward and work is easy and simple. I would take this professor again and again. Thank you prof Coogan!
This professor is a bit disorganized, but the workload is manageable. Just stay on top of the assignments, and Unstuck study can be a helpful study tool. Overall, an easy A if you put in the effort.
