Enjoyed the class. Especially when students were able to mix it up.
This profesor was comedic at times, and LOVED to talk about himself. I learned more about his personal finances and vacations than I did about Business. His knowledge of the subject was extensive, however he talked much more about himself than what I paid to learn. I learned the subject more on my own time than from the instructor.
the instructor was funny at times, but loved to talk about himself more than he liked to talk about the subject of business. He talked more about his vacations and how much money he makes. I learned more about business on my own than from his instructing. He thinks that he's awesome though!
I had a three-hour class with Durfield and he broke up the "learning" time and "fun" time in a way where we wouldn't get bored but still achieved our goals for the class. He does talk a lot about himself but he relates it to what we are learning in the class, which helped me understand things better. Also, he had the class discuss on a daily basis and work in groups from time to time which was very refreshing compared to other professors who lecture everyday.
He does not really answer your questions. He will lead you, or give you a hint.
ive taken almost all his classes. i love taking him because i know ill learn and it will be easy. he really wants everyone to succeed and will offer extra credit if needed. a little intimidating at first but a real cool chill guy. gives online quizzes every week (super easy) and a few tests. your mostly tested on what u talked in class. TAKE HIM
Everything in class, you just listen to his experiences, or if you has something want to ask, he tell you everything. He is the best in the business division of the citrus college ever. He so funny and ok. He love to see you guys attending in the class.
Goooddddd, and enjoy on the journey go to higher education from him. Have a good one, y'all. Thumb ups!!!
He absolutely loves to talk about himself. I now know way more about him and his vacations and his past jobs than business itself. Then the tests are rediculously hard with very low class averages. The trouble is, he teaches practically everything at Citrus for business so for a business major it is near impossible to avoid him.
Intelligent guy. However he's very good at ostracizing students who ask questions he feels are unworthy of his time, which in turns makes people afraid to ask questions. Easy class to get a good grade in but you'll need the book and you'll need to study some. Don't ask questions, he enjoys making students feel stupid by making jokes about their Q's
Dr. Durfield wants students to succeed in his class. I disagree with some of the negative comments. If you show up to class and do the work that is outlined in your syllabus, you will pass with ease. He makes the syllabus for every class crystal clear. Attendance and participation are important. He's awesome!
Has no respect towards students, he shouldn't make students look stupid for a mistake they made, try's to make you look stupid in front of the whole class. Great example of teachers abusing their power.
Most arrogant professor I've had in my life. Spends most class time talking about himself, ostracizing students he deems not worth his time, clearly doesn't spend any time on his lesson plan. He has a very detailed syllabus and project, but that's it. The quizzes and test questions are from the publisher. Asshole.
I hate the guy! All he does is talk about his personal life and nobody cares about it. His class is not very hard as long as you do the online homework and quizzes. But I would reccomend never to take this guy!!!
When taking the online course there is little reason to assume he's helpful. It's a self-study course and he is extremely strict on deadlines and offers no leniency. Majority of assignments are from the publisher. If taking the online course find a partner to study with. He doesn't even have helpful material on the blackboard.
Yes he talks about himself, but he does it in a way that relates to the topic he is teaching. I really learned a lot from him and the test were actually easy, I got A's on all of them. He has a very good sense of humor, very sarcastic so if you can't take a joke don't take him. Do your work, by the deadlines and you'll be fine!
He's a nice guy when you get to joke around with him. Very sarcastic, but nice...Only problem is he DOES talk about himself a lot. He goes off into different topics unrelated to subject matter. His syllabus was vague in important parts, and whenever anyone asked for clarification he seemed offended and always seems to disreguard students questions
Truly the most delusional person ever! He loves to talk about himself show off his fake Rolex & walk into class late with his jacket over his shoulder as if it is a fashion show. He claims to be the best lawyer anyone will ever find but when you look him up in the state's bar page he doesn't show up! Don't waste your time taking this guy's class.
I took 3 of his classes. Business 101, Business Law, and Real Estate. He was a great professor all three times. If you do your work, show up and participate he will like you, which will work in your favor if you ever need to make something up. Really nice guy, and incredibly smart. I would highly recommend him!
BY FAR THE FUNNEST CLASS I HAVE TAKEN AT CITRUS. You have to attend the lectures. Hes strict on attendence. Very interactive class. His lectures have little to do with the tested material. you need the book! DONT MISS ASSIGNMENTS he only gives 4. If you dont turn one in youre screwed. but theyre easy points.
Awesome class Durfield is a good teacher but he can be sarcastic and mean, he's not one to play with or be disrespectful to... BUT if you ask him for help in the right way he will help you, after making sure you've exhausted all your own means 1st... he also bought us pizza which was cool i recommend him!!
He's a great teacher but he doesn't really help you unless you talk to him after class. He always recommends you to the syllubus when you have a question on a project or when something is due. When you need guildence on a project he'll only tell the class once and everything will be on the syllubus. Active/ fun class.
I had an awesome time in Dr Durfields class. He had tons of knowledge. You have to read his syllabus, before you ask questions.
Durfield is a decent professor I took it in Winter as a hybrid class and only met twice a week for 1hr and 35min and he expected us to go through 7chap in 1 week which is fine with me as long as he stayed on topic, but he never was. He talks about things completely irrelevant for most of the time then spends 5min teaching 3 chap at the end of class
So far, Durfield has shown to be a very articulate teacher. He has that capability where he can relate to himself or experiences he has been through and shows us how it relates to business ethics.. I also really like how we touch on subjects from today and discuss if they are ethical or not..
I took Durfield for 101 and am now taking him for 160(online). As a professor in the classroom, he is passionate and his class is absolutely captivating (you will get a B if you follow the syllabus!). For his online class, he is about as useful as an ashtray on a motorcycle. Would I take him again (IN PERSON)in the future? YES! online? HECK NO!
He is a great teacher I have taken 3 of his c lasses and I can say he is such an amazing professor.i love his classes.
He is a great teacher I have taken 3 of his c lasses and I can say he is such an amazing professor.i love his classes and I definitely will be taking him again.
All you have to do is read the book and you should be good. Also his tests/quizzes were online so you have no reason to miss them.I understood what he wanted us to do. He is also a very interesting teacher, fun to have, and keeps your interest with all the jokes. Textbook, buy it, you NEED IT. I'm even thinking of taking him winter for Bus 160
I LOVED this professor. He has so many experiences in business that he shares with the class. If there's anyone to look up to on campus on the subject of business he's the guy! He inspires and also, from time to time, gives great advice! Great professor. But to pass his class you will definitely need the textbook!
Not bad. Actually kind of funny & discussions can be interesting. Sometimes he talked about himself a little much. You need the book and to follow the syllabus. Not good about responding to emails. Class was hybrid that met once a week. Not much covered in class. Lots of test material, but can pass once you understand how to study for it.
He is an amazing teacher, he not only helps you learn the material expected but offers personal insight on why rules are what they are. Great motivational speaker, and is passionate about YOU learning and getting ahead. Offers great pointers on what to study for the test. I wouldn't mind taking any class he taught, he's just that great.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE Dist ed classes should have more then enough study material to assist you with your work. This class has ZERO. You only have your book, 1 chapter a week, and the assignments given to you in CNOW. CNOW assignments are VAGUE and require you to flip through the entire chapter each question. No power points or study guide. Good luck
Very easy class. Doesn't require you to go to the campus for anything. Is useless and tries to intentionally be difficult when it comes to turning in assignments. Hide's directions for tests in the supplemental material to ensure reading. Gives no leniency for anything. Doesn't understand how distance education should be done.
As a professor his job is to prepare you for your later life. His expectations are not unfounded and he clearly states them in the syllabus, so naturally he doesn't tolerate excuses. Forego the superficiality and he really is a transformative leader and intriguing person who applies the business lessons to current events. Unmotivated student beware
I have taken Professor Durfield for one lecture class and two online classes. He very much likes to talk about himself so that is why I now stick to his online courses. The material is very clear and his assignments are easy. As long as you do the work each week it is easy to earn an A. I have deliberately taken all of my bus classes with him.
I took Professor Durfield for Spring 2013 for intro to Business and Business Law in the legal environment I in summer 2013 along with 2 other classes. It was really a lot of work but well worth it. He is a wonderful teacher. Lots of homework but really relevant to what we need to know as being in a Business Major.
Professor is knowledgable about business, law, and life. He is aggressive in a good way and he enjoys to debate with other students. Overall, the courses are fairly easy as long as you keep up with the readings.
8-wk online course. Syllabus is >5 pages& describes everything in detail! This class was super easy for me. READ the notes he provides-he outlines the IRAC for you. Syllabus breakdown: 5 online multiple choice cengage assignments-25%, 3 written IRACs-15%, 3 online multiple choice cengage exams with an IRAC for each-60%.
He's extremely smart and knows what he's doing. I regret not trying harder in this class. All assignments are clear. Make sure you check the online homework all the time. I missed a test due to not checking the assignments everyday. He reminds you the day of the test so if you dont check everyday, it is easily missed. Tests are 20% of your grade.
Durfield was amazing and I would take this class over again for sure. Seems tough at first but is actually quite easy for the average student. All quiz's and tests are online but they are all pretty easy PLUS he curves them. Your class practically becomes family to you. Great Experience.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE, big mistake to take class with this guy,all he dose is to talk and show of about his self, i drop the class because i found out im not going to learn anything.
He is absolutely useless as a professor! Honestly no point in showing up to class because he doesn't teach the material, he just talks instead, about himself and unimportant and unrelated manners. Regret taking his class. He's rude and too opinionated. Would not recommend.
I took this class online. I do not think he is helpful. If you had a book, online assignments are easy. The IRAC of the last exam is really tough, so make sure you get As on every assignments before that.
took him for winter and was not so bad. do all the reading and assignments online or its very easy to get behind. overall i learning so much in his bus. class and looking forward to take him again.
He was very rude to me specifically, made me feel like an idiot most of the time. Very very sarcastic. Completely turned me off from business. You will learn a lot about his expensive vacations more often than business. Will not recommend or take him for another class again.
Best teacher I've ever had at Citrus College
Just follow the syllabus! Pay attention, do the work and enjoy the lectures!
Good topics and discussion. He will call on you and try to get you involved.
Pay attention to the syllabus!! Most of your attendance grade concerns will be answered there. Great guy and very sarcastic so beware of that in which most cases its funny but hey everyone is different! Gives a lot of life advice and will teach you things that you never even thought about in relating to business and finance.
Durfield is a super cool professor, very fun guy. Just read the text and this class will be easy, and possibly the highlight of your day.
Took his online class. Each week you would need to write a 100-250 word response to a chapter you read on blackboard and would need to respond to two responses from classmates. Those were pretty easy. There is a midterm and an exam. Both were pretty hard to the point where he had to curve our grades. It's hard to remember all these key things.
Distance education may seem intimidating to some, but this professor is excellent and it shows that he wants the best for his students. You do the work, a grade reflecting your efforts will be given fairly. Would take one of his courses again, absolutely.
His attendance policy is strict, He drops many students first 8 weeks for attendance. His grading policy is tough and exams are hard but extra credit makes up for it. He can be rude and arrogant but he gives great advice about life, school, work. If you survive 1st 8 weeks and his rudeness u will enjoy his class so much I would 110% recommend him
You either like him or you don't. If you don't like to be put on the spot & made fun of from time to time this isn't the class for you. His lectures are interesting and will probably be the highlight of your day. Requires a lot of reading & participation. If you take his law class get ready to work! Great professor, wants you to pass.
His class is not that hard, you just need to read the book. One negative thing about this class is you'll notice that he's really rude sometimes.
To say Durfield is amazing is an understatement. One of the most amazing professors i've ever had. Negative comments generally come from people who don't like to participate and that's their fault. He cares about his students more than they even know. He appreciates participation and hard workers. Make an effort, and you'll do great. He's the best.
I took this course during the winter, hybrid. The material is interesting. The course isn't very difficult. 3 exams. Weekly assignments based on chapter. IRACs are the most difficult part. More of a legal class than a business class. Attendance wasn't required for the hybrid course. Went the first day... He seemed alright to me.
He is a great professor. But with that being said, this is a LAW class and many people forget that. It's a lot of work and reading and if you don't do read, you'll definitely fail. Take this class if you're serious about law/business. If you just need another elective, steer clear.
I am taking his class right now and he is one of the worst professors I have had. He is arrogant and loves to hear himself talk. He chooses favorites and is dis-empowering to the introverts in the class. Part of being effective in business is understanding the stakeholders and as an introduction into business this professor has no understanding.
Professor is DIFFERENT loves to share his life experiences; requires 80% participation if you DON'T speak he will remove points . Trying is not enough & may be little us sometimes. HW ?s 50 don't relate to exam, unorganized always looks at text before class , no extra credit, no study guides, he can be outgoing but sometimes offend others.
Great professor, but likes to go off topic for minutes, maybe hours. Inspirational, he brings in his life-experience and teaches students what it's like to be outside the business world. Participation is a must, this includes: being there at class on time and participating in-class. Overall: great teacher, but you have to work for it.
Professor Durfield , is an amazing professor, he really does care about his students. The class is not hard but you do have to put in the work, Participation is very important in his class, he is a funny professor who can go off topic but he expects his students to read the material. He teaches you things about the bus world that you will need use!
Best teacher I have had by far (Sophomore year at Citrus). Super inspiring and wants to teach students about true life skills. He's very knowledgeable and has quite the life experiences. Very interactive and hilarious. Expects much of students because he believes they EACH are capable of succeeding. Very thankful for him, regardless of the grade.
Not sure why other students say he talks too much. Isn't that why we're in college - to learn! This professor cares about his students, understands business and has an excellent teaching style.
Learned more about real life in this class than in any class ive ever taken. You have to be willing to talk. the assignments and tests are online and if you do them you will do well.
Annoying how much participation matters
Great and very funny professor, especially when he unexpectedly turns the spotlight on me. But he can be a little off-topic on lectures.
Great professor! I'm currently taking him. People who say he picks favorites over others, he does not! He just likes people who talk and volunteer in class, just like any other professor would! Attendance is very important. You can do all the work and still fail the class if you miss too many days. Being late is half an abscent. Overall he's great.
WORST TEACHER EVER. NEVER TAKE HIS ONLINE CLASSES. HE PROVIDES ZERO HELP, WILL GET FRUSTRATED IF YOU DONT UNDERSTAND HIS ASSIGNMENTS, his assignments are so vague, its either you get a 100% or a 0%, no matter how much you try or work hard on his assignments he will fail you. Rude online and in emails, you can try his lecture classes, but not online
PARTICIPATION IS A MUST! It's worth 10% of your grade. (I got 50/100 because i only participated a couple of times) Quizzes and tests are online and you can take them over 'till you're satisfied with your grade. He's pretty damn funny and his lectures are pretty interesting. Overall a great teacher! Can't wait for his business law class.
being graded by few things doesn't leave much room for error. Study guide seems like a nice gesture but its necessary because test material and class lectures are very different from each other.
Definitely one of the worst professors at Citrus. It's an easily A if you just do the work, but his lectures are so boring and he goes off tangent repeatedly so you never really get to learn the concept of the class. He likes to talk about himself more than anything and makes jokes that aren't even funny. Take someone else, the A isn't worth it.
He's a cool guy, but he doesn't go over the lessons everyday. He talks about his trips and himself a lot. There's no study guide, you have to read every little and big detail in each chapter to pass his tests. The tests are pretty easy. Participation is a big part of your grade 10%. You really have to talk!!! 1 online hw and 1 quiz per week.
he doesn't teach at all. in class he'll talk about his past relationships and unnecessary stuff. you have to teach yourself the whole book. He's super mean and will call you out in class, even for going to the restroom. dropped the class with a W because this is my major and he made me hate the class.
Participate and show up for all the test and do your homework and this will be the best class ever, caring professor
Multiple assignments given w/ little information on what he was looking for. Spent at least 4 hours reading and trying to figure out how to do the written assignments only to get back a 0 out of 100. Emailed him and was told that my format was wrong but the answers were right. no redos. Might as well not have done the assignments at all.
The best class Ive ever taken at Citrus.
This is a class that changed my life. Although you need to read and pay attention, students learn so much in this class. This is my third class with Durfield, I wish I could take all my business classes with this professor.
Unfortunately I don't recommend anyone to take his class. He's very rude and arrogant. He's not very clear on assignments, yet he expects you to understand. When I bought the text book, the biography of all the business professor's listed Durfield as a retail manager and intern for Child Support Services. No real background in Business Law Peeps!
even if you talk, raise your hand, and go to class 99% of the time, you still will not get a hundred in participation. would not take again unfortunately.
Refuses to round grades by even .1% and doesn't give any sort of lectures. Whole online class requires you to learn everything on your own through the text book with no other help.
Durfield is a pretty fantastic professor. He 100% knows what he's talking about and pretty much all you have to do to ace this class is do the online assignments (which are essentially impossible to fail). If you listen to the lecture you'll absolutely understand what's going on. Do make an effort to ask questions if you want participation points.
He's not that bad. Everyone is just entitled. He is very clear on his rules, all you have to do is follow them. He doesn't round grades up and it is stated on the syllabus. You need to read his syllabus and not act surprised when he enforces it. Reading through his syllabus would give the most accurate representation on who he is as a person.
Don't listen to the bad reviews on this professor. I've taken 3 of his classes already and he is a really incredible teacher. He makes everyone laugh in the first 15 minutes of class and cares about all of his students. He's inspired me more than any teacher I've had. Just do the online assignments and care about the class a little. He's great.
This is my 2nd online class I have taken with Durfield. He makes sure the course is available with all the requirements 2 weeks before the semester has started. He has a clear and detailed syllabus of what he expects. No surprises with him. On most exams he adds points or ups the percentage.
He does not go much by the book but is very friendly and gives great life skill advice. Tests do go by the book. Traditional lecture has some online work but it is very easy.
Professor Durfield is one of the best instructors I've had. I learned a lot in this class. He is very clear and upfront about what he expects from students as well as his grading criteria. Pay attention to detail in this class and you will do well.
If you read the chapters you will pass! Is crucial to do the online assignments on cengage. The iracs were a little difficult but as you start reading the chapters it gets easier. Straight forward, do the work and you will pass.
This class sucked, having to write an irac is horrible. He has the grades percent based and not a points earned to points possible grader. 50% of the grade is IRACs
Absolutely hated this class. You need the citrus college version of the book because you will only pass if you have the supplemental material. If you follow the back of the book you should pass I only received a C because I received a 0 for one IRAC because I "didn't" list something correctly. Says he hates grammatical errors, yet he had MANY.
Understanding professor, gives great feedback, and encourages communication. Strongly suggest to take his on-campus course because he's very caring and respected. To gain stronger communication skills as needed in Business, meeting him on-campus is the way to go. He has AMAZING active lectures that require your input, not boring or lecture heavy :)
Took his course during the fall of 2019, every paper I turned in that was correct he would intentionally give me a zero credit for it. I RECOMMEND DO NOT TAKE HIS COURSE For BUSINESS 160. Horrible teaching and only cares about the money not your education. Do not waste your time.
Terrible professor Very disrespectful Gives horrible feedback and is very rude and comments does not really help with the feedback that is given Worst professor Ive had Grades you if you use poor grammar but in his own book has terrible grammar himself Reported to the school already would not recommend his class to anyone Overall terrible
Extremely rude and disrespectful. Doesnt give good feedback
Welp! Unfortunately you have to take him if youre in business. A hypocrite when it comes to grammar, cause his own grammar is just as worse. But either way hes passable and good luck.
This Professor is very knowledgeable in Business and Business Law. Care about his student and their success. You have to put in the time and effort into your assignments as you will also need to in the business world. If your considering a career in Business or Business Law you need to take his class as you will be more that prepared.
His IRAC assignments are impossible to pass. I got a low score by following his instructions. Then, I put in hours to make the 2nd one much better by following HIS feedback. More effort, more attention to detail earned me a big ZERO with no explanation/feedback from the professor. No matter how you try, this professor wants to fail you. Stay away.
Great professor, synthesizes the material well; and is always ready to help students when they need it. Lays exactly what needs to be done to do well in his class and sticks by it.
Took 2 classes with him, everything is straight forward. During the 1st semester, my grandmother passed away and he was not understanding. My internet went down during the pandemic for 3 days, no one day ext., told me to break social distancing and use Wifi at a friend or family's house. Unreasonable on no exceptions, life happens as we see in 2020
I took his eight weeks BUS160 online course and thought the course was alright. You have to read four chapters a week, write three IRACs, and write three additional IRACS for every exam. Also, a disclaimer, GET THE CITRUS COLLEGE EDITION BOOK, you will fail the class without it. It has the supplemental material necessary for the IRACs.
I've taken a couple classes with professor Durfield, mostly online and I have to say, he is a great professor and a great guy as well. He's straightforward on the assignments and expectations of the class and so on. He cares about his students and don't be afraid to ask him for help. He can be tough which is fair. Overall, he's awesome and great.
I take the class in tough time that I have online class. There is no Zoom record. I read the book and do the tests. The tests are not to challenge that we just need to read book and I can do it.
Horrible horrible horrible teacher. Doesn't give extensions even with proof of emergency, doesn't offer any more help than to read the text book. Responds to emails fast but in a very rude way. Wouldn't take him again and wouldn't recommend him to anyone either.
GUYS LISTEN TO ME AND LISTEN WELL, I GOT 90's and 80's on the Cengage assignments that are worth 100 points however this man wants you to quote him almost word for word in his own textbook for the IRAC assignments also worth 100 points. I'm a good writer, so I try to change it up but still make the same point, and he gives me low grades DO NOT TAKE
GUYS THIS IS MY SECOND half of my review, PART 2 on this man, don't bothering buying the textbook online nah you won't stand a chance homie. Why because he wants you to read the supplementary material in his book, if you can't afford it that's tough get ready to take some L's because he's rude in his emails and won't give you for real help.
Don't take him. If you don't do the assignments perfectly or exactly how he wants it, he isn't afraid to hand out a 20/100. Extremely tough grader. E-mails have to be in a specific format or he doesn't respond; when he does respond it is rude. If you can avoid taking him for business 160 I recommend doing that.
Ace all the Cengage Assignments and exams on canvas, still won't matter. If your IRAC isn't word for word like the template he wants you to magically know, then you will get half credit. DO NOT TAKE.
If your IRAC is not word for word of what he wants, you will not get a good score. Don't bother reading the textbook, read the supplemental material he gives or else you'll end up having a bad grade. He won't hesitate to give you a 10/100 on an assignment that made sense to you but not to him.
the responses he gives you on your iracs are just a copy-paste he sends to every student. It's basically him going off on a rant on how we're doing the iracs wrong. our class had to make a discord server to work on the iracs because no one knew what this dude wants. I would stay away from this teacher. trust me.
I took Professor Durfield for Spring of 2021 fully online, and he is probably the worst teacher I had at Citrus. His IRAC assignments are the worst of his class. He also gives no exceptions on late assignments, even for legit medical/family emergencies. He's very strict on grading, make sure you follow every little thing he puts out. DON"T TAKE HIM
Probably the worst professor Ive seen. In fact, Im not sure why hes a professor at all. Durfield does nothing to teach this course and when he does, he does a lousy job. He nitpicks students grammar mistakes all the time but when he writes exams, he makes a whole bunch of them. The double standard. Oh, and he never emails back. Never again.
He was horrible, easy test but legit doesn't care for his students. DON'T MISS ANY TEST/ASSIGNMENT DEADLINE.
This man is a joke, I had covid and was really sick so I didnt do my homework. I sent him proof that I tested positive. I asked if I can make up some of the things I missed and he sent me quoted sentences from his syllabus stating no make up home. Followed by hope this answers your question. Ignores emails that are sent to him on canvas. Outlook
Gives terrible feedback even would I took his advice and read his supplementary materials I still couldn't pinpoint the content. Terrible professor and curriculem.
Just a heads up that he wants things his way and only his way. He gives out supplementary material to read and if you read it and interpret it any different than what he wants you will get a low score on his IRAC exams.
If you don't even take a glance at his syllabus whatsoever, give up. He will be rude and ALWAYS refer the syllabus for everything with NO EXCEPTIONS. His policy on his is very petty and unfair and i'm honestly surprised no one has complained about it. Exams will only be on one day and if you miss any assignment your grade will drop a letter grade.
Dr. Timothy is a compassionate professor who really cares about his student.
Take his class IN PERSON! I imagine that Dr. Durfield's poor reviews are from online students- he is SUPER helpful. His grading and deadlines and strict, but if you follow his instructions, getting an A in the class in more than doable. READ THE SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL! 10/10 would take again! Future Law students will benefit greatly from his classes
This teacher is ok. You do use McGrawHill for all assignments. The Application Based activities are terrible, they are hard and not related to the textbook at all. The smartbook assignments were ok but they take forever to do. Overall don't like this class.
Straight forward class. Zoom meetings not mandatory but go and get extra credit with camera on. Textbook needed for assignments and exams are proctored with camera on but no big deal. 4 exams but drops the lowest. Hw can take a while so do it ahead but you get a week to do it. Overall not a bad class.
I took BUS130 on-line class. My past experience of taking an online class has relied on being independent, disconnected from classmates and the college experience. Professor Durfield made the experience of an online class: fun, connected and open. He shares his experience of travel, entrepreneurship & life to teach his students. Thank you again.
Professor Durfield is a great professor with inspiring and helpful lectures. He gives real life examples in relation to the chapters within the business textbook. If you like to be read PowerPoint slides, this class is NOT for you. I would highly recommend Professor Durfield if you like to learn valuable as well as useful information.
Professor Durfield is an amazing teacher. His lectures were helpful for the class and he does not require participation. He has assignments every week which consists of smart books and other assignments on mcgrawhill. There are a total of 4 tests all weighed the same, his class is easy to pass if you do the reading and assignments.
His lectures are very powerful and strong. He sometimes wonders off and talks about himself. He can be funny at some times. If you want to pass his class, you really need to study and be in class because he really breaks down the material which helps compared to not attending a couple of classes.
Took him back in '12 and in comparison of how he teaches from a decade ago, he's eased up A LOT. I had him for 8 wks and no IRACs just cengage assignments, 4 DBs, and 3 exams. The answer to your question is on the syllabus. Don't confuse him not coddling you with being rude. You're an adult; do the work.
Guy doesnt care at all, just puts up automatic assignments, doesn't let you redo anything for any reason and doesn't care about students. I got an 89.97% and he won't do anything to help me out 0.03% lol. It's laughable how little he cares.
Not sure if taking this course online is what changed my opinion, or the fact that I took an 8 week course, but this class was okay compared to his previous BUS 160. Lots of material to cover in a short time. His weekly videos threw me off because it seemed he previously filmed it on vacation on a balcony of some sort? Work is doable though.
Judging by how class was I believe the professor didn't really care about his students or the way he led the class. It was just a class if you do the work (it's up to you) If you fall behind (it's up to you),If you fail a test (it's up to you). He doesn't give any help in this class for disabled students.
In all honesty if you just do the work and put the effort you will get the grade you deserve. You have 3 exams and 1 final. And you do 2-3 discussion boards that are due every Thursday and you have to reply to 2 of your peers by Sunday. It not a hard class at all. It organized and clear on what you have to do. And he does reply to your emails.
Get ready to spend money on the learning platform and make sure you do not miss any assignments. He does not care what you have going on personally and will take no late work AT ALL! I would suggest business majors to take another professor that just doesn't make you pay for the software and set you on auto polit for the term.
This professor grades your attendance every week which is apart of your grade when you're late he scores you low and if you don't participate in class he grades you lower. He does not open all of the class assignments he does it week by week even if you wanted to get assignments done sooner he has them locked. He has a timer on the assignments.
This professor is fair and a good teacher of business. He is always helpful and understanding.
