good teacher. follow notes for test and you'll pass with flying colors. attend required concerts which an easy paper and you'll get an A. easiest class I've taken and actually learned.
Easy A. Take notes and go to the concerts.
He is hot i've learned a lot.. Just study..YOU'll GET AN A!

go to class, take notes, study notes, study the study guide then you will get an A
This class is the EASIEST class to pass. Every test is based on notes. You dont even need to buy the book for this class, just follow notes he puts up in the class and take 'em all down becoz all the tests are based on notes and sometimes he even gives out open book & notes tests, so its all good...bottom line its an easy ass class to get units 4.
The EASIEST class you'll ever take...EVER!!! He si a really good teach, he kows what he's talking about. We RARELY used the book because it was all note-based from his lectures. His extra credit is an easy 100 pts (A+) because they are based on your opinion and experience. He is also very funny!
Mr. Harris is by far one of the best teacher/conductors I have ever had. He is inspiring and has taken the Chabot bands to new levels. He demands alot in rehearsals and expects you to know you parts, however I've never had this much fun and satisfaction from playing my instrument!
BY FAR, THE EASIEST CLASS IVE EVER TAKEN. Go to the concerts and you'll do fine. Its best to take it with a friend so you'll have company while going to the mandatory concerts.
cool teacher. must attend 3 musical concerts and gives the option for 3 more bonus concerts. plays samples of music in class, which will be tested on. class attendence not mandatory!
if you are looking for an easy grade take him. you have to go to a few mandatory concerts but its not that bad. don't buy the book, i never opened it once.
He is a really great teacher and person. The class is easy but I learned so much from it and he made me want to come to class. The concerts are really good the the report is easy. I highly suggest taking his class.
Ok listen up people.this was my first year attending chabot and i used ratemyprofessors and found mr.harris. and it was the best choice i ever made. this class was superly easy. we just took notes, listened to some music clips and he gave us test review sheet b4 and the tests are EASY.pretty simple huh? and just 4 chabot concerts to attend.TAKE HIM
He's a great music professor. He's very organized and provides study guides before the exam. His lectures are powerpoint, and are very informational and interesting. No need to buy textbook. His exams are from his lectures. He also has extra credit. And if you have a 96% or above, you don't have to take the final. Awesome professor.
The easiest music professor EVER! Go to class and listen to the music because he'll ask you to name it for the test. Go to the concerts. The paper is easy to write. Just like a flimsy paragraph will make him happy. I got a 105% in his class! NO LIE and I didnt have to take the final. I did extra credit too!
He is awesome!! everything is based on powerpoint lectures. pay attention to the music he plays cuz he will test u on it. only 4 tests, 4 concert 1 page concert reports, if you do good on those you dont take a final and you get an a
Wow, the easiest class EVER. Now granted I am a good student but this class was so easy I finshed it with an A three weeks early. I literally did not come to class for the last month and still got an A, yes I did not take the final or the last test. I liked going to the concerts but most students find them boring and a hassle to go to.
my frind gave me her last semester's notes , and i just memorized the notes and took the tests, i got an A, you dont even have to attend the class!!!!!
Amazing conductor and band director. Great rehearsal skills and made the experience musical and wonderful for me. Best director I've ever played for. He made me love music again!
Really great teacher and very funny. He is super hot and very smart. I'm very suprised he is teaching at Chabot and not a 4 year university.
He is a VERY nice man with a sense of humor and a knack for making his lectures sound like he's telling a story. Copy the main points from the power-point slides and listen to the music, and you cannot fail. He gives out a study guide and goes over it in class. Concert attendance is worth 50 points... and the concerts are a lot of fun. Take Him!!!
AMAZING director! By far the best director I've ever had. Freaks out if you don't show up for class, but really cool when people practice their music. Really pushes people to play above a college level. Easily the best band I've ever played on. Get the notes within the 1st couple rehearsals and spend the rest making it pretty. Spectacular, perfect!
Taken online, class is pretty easy if you read book & listen to cds.Grade breakdown: 6 multiple choice exams @ 50 pts (includes music samples & FYI iPhone's Shazam won't give you the composer), 2 50 pt concert reports, 5 DBs @ 10 pts ea, Class participation worth 50 pts (includes non graded DBs) and 25 extra credit points for extra concert report
great class and great teacher. Pretty easy if you listen to the music and read powerpoint. Test are based on study guides. Easy A class..
This class is boring but easy. Easy test. he gives you a study guide. there's 6 exams. you have to go to at least 4 concerts. The teacher is cool tho
This class is an easy class. No need to buy the textbook.Exams are from the lectures and study guide. You need to attend four concerts and another two to boost your grade.Mr.Harris is a great teacher. He allows you to appreciate Art Music and the composers of the past such as Mozart,Copland and Beethoven. This class is highly recommended to boost GPA.
easy A, teacher's kinda hot. as long as you pay attention in class, do the 4 concerts, and spend a little time going over the study guides, you'll do fine... if you get a 95% or higher by the 6th test, you don't have to take the final! he also gives extra credit to help you succeed.
Easy A. Don't need the textbook at all. Show up to lecture, take notes. He only tests on things he covers in lecture, and lecture always gets out 30 min early.
It is an easy A class. It is a great subject to take to boost one's GPA.There are six exams and four required concerts. An additional two concerts can be used as extra credit.Mr.Harris is a great teacher. He makes Art Music interesting. If you obtain an average of 96 in the exams and concert reports,he allows the student not to take the final exams.
Professor Harris is a great teacher very knowledgeable in Music and his class is super easy. 6 exams and 4 concert reports. If you have a 96% and above you dont have to take the final. He also has a great sense of humor not a boring lecturer.
If you are looking for an easy A, Music 1 Online is the class you should take!! It only requires weekly discussion board posts and online quizzes. I wish I took it in the summer. Just be prepared to complete two valid Concert Reports. No way you can't pass the class.
Mr. harris is the best teacher i ever have, the test is really easy, and you also have to attend 4 concert, but most of the concert you don't have to write report, he also give you a lot of extra credit. you can get a A for sure if you study for the test, he's also a fun teacher. GREAT CLASS!
MUS 1-I took his online class fall 2010 semester he is so easy! I got the textbook for sale new condition $45 plus 4 CDS $35 these are expensive in the bookstore! Called Music Listening Today 3rd edition by charles hoffer 510 584 8707
Took it online. Six exams and discussions, virtual field trips and two concerts. Attend Chabot concerts and no papers to write. I learned about music, had my own pace and enjoyed it. Take this course!
I took this class online for the summer. It was very laid back. Just need to do discussion posts on the forums, 6 exams, & 2 concert reports. There is also 1 EC concert report. He does have typos sometimes, but they're not that distracting.
MR. HARRIS IS VERY FAIR AND I LEARNED A LOT FROM HIM
If you need a fine arts class, I strongly recommend taking his MUSL1 class. It is extremely easy (tests are 25 questions and very obvious and based off of the notes and study guide) You have to attend concerts and write a 1 pg report. Strongly don't recommend buying the book or cd's if you will be attending classes regularly. use notes and youtube
I took his class online. Easy Peasy, Lemon Squeezy.
REALLY great teacher! I had him for Music 1 and loved the class so much I joined the band which he directs as well. He made me enjoy music again which I hated when I finished high school.
Mr. Harris is fun, energetic, and well informed in his field. LEctures are power points, and tests are multiple choice. No book use, just study you're notes. I enjoyed his class, and feel more well informed about the music playing at barnes and noble, or an elavator. Take him hes GREAT!
Easy, fun. Show you a cool side to music history.
I took the 8 week accelerated online course. The class was pretty simple and easy. There's a quiz every week but they are pretty easy. You need to attend 3 concerts and write a report on the first 2. I would suggest taking this class because its easy, and only a half of a semester. You can't beat that.
Easy, Fun and Non Abrasive! Very responsive throughout the whole semester.
I'm currently taking his MUSL 3 online class. He's really on top of everything and very responsive to emails.
This class is not what I thought it would be at all. The final grade I had was way over an 89% and he still refused to round it. In math classes, if you dont round you lose points. I dont reccommend this class because all you do is read and read and read. You dont even learn much. I stayed up all summer only to get an 89%. This class was horrible.
person who commented 8/1 is clearly misguided. This is honestly the easiest class I have ever taken, I only took it for a GE at my Uni, but still. All you do is ready the lesson from a 3rd party website and answer the questions, pretty simple, prof doesnt really do much, just inputs grades for biweekly discussions which is usually full credit. EASY
This was a great, easy class. As long as you submitted your posts on time, and according to instructions you should have no problem with this class. The tests are multiple choice, but study and take notes. Teacher gives clear instructions as to what the assignments are, his expectations, and the due dates. I would definitely recommend this class!
Great easy class! As long as you submit work by due dates and follow instructions you will be fine. Take notes for multiple choice tests. Teacher gives clear instructions, has an organized format, and is quick to reply to questions. You will need to attend a few concerts and write reports, but this was not hard. I definitely recommend this class!
Great easy class! Turn in work by due dates and pay attention to instructions and you will be fine. Teacher gives clear instructions and has an organized format. Quick to respond to any questions. Study and take notes for multiple choice tests. I would definitely recommend this class!
You definitely should take this class! 1. It's short term class, I think. 2. Discussions are easy, read other 2-3 students' post to write it in your own words. 3. Exams are easy, answers you can easily find on the internet. There are 2-3 concert reports you need to do. You would be fine.
He's great.
Beware if you are taking his online music class, the online interface he uses to teach is very misleading in the grading. Apparently you don't get the grade you see, through email he sounds very difficult to talk to him and get any understanding of things.
I took his only 5 week music class and it was so easy. A chapter every week and you answer questions and submit them for credit plus a quiz. Super easy if you need to get a music class out of the way
Professor Harris is a choice for Music, his content is clear and to the point. His online course was quite quick, if you need to get a humanities course out of the way, this is a good choice.
I enjoyed taking the online course and you do not need to purchase a text as everything is embedded. Follow the guidelines and sample format he gives for the written assignments and you'll be fine. I did okay on the quizzes but did the extra credit assignment and got an A.
Great short term course. I'm an older returning student and Professor Harris quickly and kindly answered my questions and provided feedback on assignments that was helpful to me as this was my first online course.
While the lectures were long, the professor is very understanding and offers extra credit. Overall, this class was not difficult IF you actually show up.
He is one of the best online course teacher I have had ever, as long as you do all your work from his class you will pass with a pretty good grade.
Very caring, always sends an email so you won't fall behind in class. Always helpful and offers his help if you need it. Responds to emails super quick. Plus this class is a self-paced class. Side note his performance in the spring wind band concert was spectacular. Do your work and you will pass.
The course was well laid out and self-paced which I enjoyed. He responded quickly to questions and assignments were generally graded within a day or two with feedback which helped.
I really enjoyed taking his class. The lectures were very interesting and I can say I truly learned a lot. His grading criteria is very clear and as long as you're engaged and show up, you'll do great. He's also kinda funny too.
I really enjoyed this class and his lectures. I found the review sessions helpful and learned a lot about the music we listened to. You do have to go to concerts but the paper you need to write about your experience is very straight forward and easy.
I took his online class, very easy. All you do is watch 3 concerts and write about it. He gives you 3 weeks to a month to do the report and a quiz.
Super cool guy and super easy class! You have to attend three music concerts and write a short paper on them. Lectures are straight forward and easy to understand, the quizzes were super easy and short if you payed attention to the lectures. I would recommend!
Very easy teacher granted that you take notes on his lectures and study for quizzes. Concert reports are easy, just express your emotions to the concerts and use musical terminology provided to you in lectures.
Here's a TLDR. Just read. Take quizzes. Easy A. IMPORTANT! There are two essays where you write about a musical performance of your choosing. The final has similar questions as the quizzes so if you do well on quizzes then you will do well on the final.
Just take this professor. Simple A.
My favorite class of the semester! His lectures are prerecorded that discuss the powerpoint and covers the assigned reading. Fun discussion forum topics (create your own Woodstock) and quickly responded to questions in Canvas. Very organized teacher and online course which I really appreciated.
I took his class online and to be honest, its hard to get a bad grade he posts 4 assignments up every unit, the units end about every two weeks, they are pre filmed slideshows (lectures) about the topic of that unit and a reading and some units have extra videos, then their is a discussion, a listening journal, a short written, and a quiz.
His lectures are interesting. Easy A, I was able to finish this summer class in 2 weeks. Just write down all information given in his lecture videos and you'll pass.
Professor Harris is an amazing instructor and has interesting lectures. He is very clear on what the assignments are, the instructions, grading criteria, and deadlines. It's a short class and it's an easy A if you do the work. The work is very reasonable. You won't regret taking his class!
Great class! I was initially overwhelmed by the 8 week structure, but it was easy to keep up with. Nice professor who always answered my emails typically within 24 hours. I would say I spent about 8 hours per week studying/working on this course.
this class was very interesting and easy to manage. even though the class may feel fast (since it is about 8 weeks total) the work isn't hard. just study a bit and it's a breeze.
Was able to do the whole class the night it was due, don't wait till the last minute though. Quizzes have 5 minute limit. Somewhat easy but you will enjoy the class a lot more if you appreciate classical music. Writing assignments are easy too, just leave yourself enough time to do them if you wait till the last minute.
One of my most favorite music teachers, he was always so caring and always giving you different music to study! His practice guides for his quizzes were always on point, nothing was out of concept! I recommend this teacher 10/10!
Overall, Harris was a great professor, it is only a 8 week course, each week you will be given a new unit (7 units in total) All of the assignments are all due at the last day of the course, you can do it in your pace and the quiz are short but the only thing I don't like is that the quiz is only 5 minutes max, so beware and study beforehand.
as long as you're on top of completing all your assignments and you answer everything as you should this is overall an easy fun course! I thought it was fun learning about different musicians and the history behind music.
Well organized class layout and informative lectures that are prerecorded so you can listen to them when your schedule allows. I enjoyed the class and listening to the music he assigned.
Really great professor and really fun class. The class was very well organized and you could get ahead of your work since all the modules were open from the start of the class. The lectures were all really interesting, and I loved listening to all the different genres of music for the class.
the class was only for 8 weeks and everything was at your own pace. Each week would have a quiz but it's easy. He provides the textbook and overall and chill class
This was a very easy course! only 4 very easy assignments due every sunday, you are able to work on them ahead of time so I finished the class early, it is very easy to complete the assignments i recommended this class alot
This was a pretty straightforward class, as long as you put effort into your assignments and watch the lectures, you will pass. The course itself is very interesting and his lectures are very engaging! Definitely take his class if you can.
Take this class! Super interesting and the professor is super nice. Doesn't accept late work but you get 4 easy assignments and a whole week to do them. Super straightforward. 8 chapters and the quizzes were easy you just have to study the slides he provides for each chapter and you'll be good.
no late work. clear instructions. class is fully online. I recommend this professor!
2 in person concerts (2 concert reports), weekly short written assignments, and 5 minute quizzes, and their is final (pretty easy). I recommend you take this class. study and review material before the quiz because the 5 minutes go fast
This course is simple. There are two concert reports, final, and along with weekly discussion board response/5 min quiz. Highly recommend this professor because it's an easy A to fulfill GE requirements.
Really good class! It is really simple and it is also fun learning about music. He is also helpful if you need help! For music 8 you have a discussion, a short written assignment, listening lab, and a quiz! For each unit. All are pretty easy I promise you. I recommend this professor!
This class was a lot of fun. 3 weekly assignments and a quiz, all with very clear grading criteria. Put in the effort to meet all the prompts and you should get an A.
Mr.Harris is an amazing teacher, the work is really easy. Truly all you have to do is show up, and pay attention you will get an easy A Respectfully, Ramon
I took his class and although it was a PACE course the workload wasn't too much. I took this for my GE requirements but I finished the class with so much interest. The work is easy and all you have to do is complete it and easy A. The way he organizes each topic/ module makes it easy for you to learn.
Online class that was super easy to take. Only downside to the class is that I had to pay to go to 2 concerts for assignments but otherwise cool class.
Professor Harris is very kind and understanding. There are 5 minute quizzes with 5 questions on it. Make sure to study beforehand, most of the questions are memory based; four written short assignments and a 50 question final exam. Also, two concert reports that require you to attend in person, you do have to pay for the concerts though.
Professor Harris is a friendly and easy going instructor. Class weekly work requires you to watch the lecture videos, take a quiz, and write a short paper. It wasn't difficult as long as you don't fall behind. Professor Harris goes easy on grading. Easy full credit. Required to attend 2 concerts, but they were cool. Would recommend.
Great class! The workload is light, and the professor makes it easy to learn. I found unstuck ai and the provided slides really helpful for acing the quizzes. Highly recommend this interesting GE course!
Best Professor I have ever had. I took his class this spring, and I loved it. please take him for Musl1.
I had taken this course in Spring and wow this class was such a breeze! He only grades a few things and requires you to do discussion assignments which were fair. Going to concerts for our report was fun, it didn't feel like homework! This class is only 2 months but the lessons are well paced, didn't feel rushed whatsoever. it was great!
His lectures are funny, genuinely made me love music a lot more. He opens the entire class at once, so you have a suggested pace but can go ahead, which was great. You have to attend 2 concerts, the Chabot ones count but I also ended up going some really cool places I otherwise wouldn't have.
He's pretty quick to respond to messages, his works pretty easy, overall recommend.
