most chill prof ever... ever. not necessarily a good thing. teaching style not the best. really cool, down to earth guy tho, makes you feel hes just like you, even tho hes a doctor. if you pay attention to lectures, take good notes, and study for bout 1 hour per week, you should be good. hes only like 30-35 yrs old. he likes caffeine, A LOT.
Very easygoing and funny professor. Enjoys drinking caffeine, maybe a little too much. A bit on the lazy side but it's hard to understand how he grades. I thought I was going to get at least a decent grade in his class but I was wrong. I would think twice before I take him.
Ford is the man!!! he is probly the best teacher at Sac State. He is extremely helpful and lectures are fun to attend. Makes classes very easy and a joy to attend. Would take class again.
Very immature, changes examples for supply/demand curves to beer/porn/weed. No class interaction, just lectures the entire period. If he asks a question and one person up front mumbles an answer he'll keep going and not involve the rest of the class. Very unemotional in his teachings and can't take the time to figure out the school's hmwk program.
This dude drinks coffee like theres no 2mro, once said that if he could he would attach himself to an IV of caffiene, overall he hella chill, class is a bit boring, exams are hard if u dont pay attention, rarely uses the textbook, it can be easy if u really pay attention but still the class kinda sucks but he is like the coolest teacher around
He's really interested in the subject matter of the class. The tests are ridiculously easy. He makes things easy to understand. teaches directly from the book, so don't buy it. Only negative is he's a Red Sox fan...
Mr. Ford teaches well when he is lecturing, however, his tests differ from his lectures drastically. The tests are extremely difficult because they are tricky and hard to comprehend. His personality is laid back, but he should put more effort into helping the students understand the subject and what will be on the test.
I dont know what other people think, but Professor Ford is one of the best I have had... He is laid back and loves to drink caffeine and beer.. He WILL help if you come to his office hours unlike stuck up ppl who think they dont have time... He tells you all the content that will be on his exams and he is very cool.. I recommend him to everyone..
mr ford has been my fav teacher so far.i just sat in the front, paid attention and i did very well in the class. he explains things very simply. when people say they dont get it, its cuz they dont go to class/or read the book. he is challenging, but if you like econ or biz, you will really like the class. made me laugh every day.
prof is really laidback. provides the powerpoint slides for you to print. he tells you what you need to know for the exam during lectures and review day. passed with a B, even tho i was hoping for an A...
tim is a cool prof. he is very helpful when students ask and approach him. makes teaching very fun and worth coming to class. take this man if you wants a laid back kind of teacher. fair grader too.
this guy is a horrible teacher!
Ford is a good teacher, he really wants everyone to pass the class. Attendance is not mandatory, notes online but it helps if you go to class. Homework online almost every week, not too hard. Two tests and one final. Not bad if you study!
never responded to emails or phone calls.
Ford is cool and laid back. He basically wants everyone to pass, he curves the test by like 5-10%. There's homework every week and notes online. You have to your fair share of studying, but he allows you to use a note card to every test and a page of notes for the final.
Ford is a very laid back, yet helpful professor. There are 3 tests total and he curves generously. Homework is done online. He teaches off powerpoints and explains them well. Give it your best and you will pass. If you are going for an A you are definitely going to have to earn it though.
By the end of this course, I had a good grade but I didn't feel like I learned anything. I'm pretty sure he spent more time drinking Diet Pepsi than teaching and I got the vibe like he didn't care too much about his students or value the subject matter. Basically, if you want an easy A, take a class with Ford.
Really laid back teacher; easy to approach and helpful if you need help. He is available in his office if you need any assistance or have any questions. Bring him a 48-pack of diet coke/pepsi and you will make his semester.
One of my favorite teachers I've taken thus far. The nicest and most laid back guy you'll meet. very good teacher and keeps class entertaining. He is the face of diet pepsi. someone needs to stop him. other than that one of the coolest teachers ever! i felt like he actually cared about his students and was 100% willing to help as long as you ask.A+
He would rush through lectures but would constantly say "I'm here for YOU guys." Aside from being a caffeine addict, he was most certainly an interesting character to interact with. Do the online homework, take good notes, and study his review guides and you will ace his class.
This teacher is really fun and awesome! Had him for history of econ thought. His aim was for everyone to pass the class and grasp the material. Although taking a different teacher for this class would have probably given you a more thorough education, I still learned a lot and I'm glad this class didn't kill me! Recommended!
Ford is so cool! On the first day of school we were only in class for ten minutes. He is a total Diet Pepsi addict, and it fuels his lectures. I hate econ, but as a warning: this class has a lot of math and graphs. So show up for class so you can actually understand. He'll answer your questions.
Got a D on my exam. He curved it , turned into a B. Just take it!
He write down important notes on the board and tells you what keys are significant on the midterms. It was an okay class, but he did not reply to any of the emails after final, which made it impossible to get a hold of him. I didn't like much of his teaching style. He is TOOOOO laid back.
His class was pretty easy and exams are fine if you study the material. There;s also online homework.
Professor Ford is great, and he genuinely wants everyone to learn.I had him for Macro 100A. The class is not easy, but I had fun. If your intentions are to learn, and not to deal with an arrogant professor, then I recommend taking Prof. Ford. If you like feeling inferior and feeling inferior makes you work hard and get As, well I wish you the best.
At first I didn't know what to think of Ford because he has the most relaxed style of teaching I have ever seen. Attendance mandatory, doesn't care what you do in class. He likes to play dumb, but is actually really smart and a good teacher. I got a D+ on my first test, did all my HW with good scores and did decent on the final. I got an A-
Awesome teacher! Very chill and unorthodox in his demeanor. Makes jokes all the time! 10/10 would take again
Ford is is a good econ teacher. Pay attention, participate, and show up to class and you will do fine. He's a chill teacher but he's also serious at the same time. Allows a 3/5 flash cards on the first exam and a full page on the final. Warning: he drinks a lot of soda and energy drinks
Great professor. Laid back and unorthodox teaching style. Will be there for you as long as YOU make an effort to understand. Curves tests and offers an abundance of extra credit
He is a super relaxed professor. He gives you a ton of opportunities to get extra credit on the tests. He curves the tests and lets you out early all the time from class. You have online homework but it lets you take it twice so its easy to get 100%. He's a really funny professor who makes economics seem interesting. Definitely would take again.
Prof. Ford covers material slow enough that you can grasp it but quick enough that you won't get super bored. He answers questions thoroughly and makes sure you actually understand the explanation he gave, if you don't he'll find another way to explain it for you. He allows cheat sheets for exams, and curves grades too.
He is by far the best professor I've had. Does a ton of problems in class, if you ask for the exams to be open note they will be, and 90% of the exam is what you've gone over in class. Very little outside work required. 2 exams and a bunch of homework but the homework is online with 2 attempts and your lowest 2 scores are dropped. You must show up!
Best econ professor I had! Uses old tests as study guides. He is very helpful.
If you need Econ 1A, this better be your first option. 3 tests+index card, will answer all of your question, online hw's are a little tough but drops 2 lowest scores, and pretty chill in the classroom. If you don't study then you'll prolly get a bad grade. Not the kind of class where it's super easy. Just take this class, you'll thank me later.
Really chill professor. 2 exams, a final, online hw, and attendance. That's the best way to sum up the class. He gives extra credit, curves exams, and makes econ more interesting! Ford gives practice exams from previous semesters that are very similar to his exams and he also lets you use a notecard for his exams and a page of paper for the final.
Allows you to use a notecard for the first two exams, and a regular sized paper for the final. He curves tests and offers extra credit, but really need to study and understand the material if you want to do well.
Super chill teacher! Ends class early on some days. He makes the lectures interesting so you don't get bored. If you need to take Econ 1A, I totally recommend him. He curves tests and offers extra credit. Online homework can be tough but if you ask him for help he most definitely helps you, he drops the 2 lowest homework scores.
TAKE HIM! He is one of the best professors I have ever had. He drops the lowest 2 assignments and the assignments are really easy to do because you can check your answers before submitting it. Don't miss class because he will give extra credit questions for the exams.
Best teacher all semester! Very simple class set up with lectures and gives out extra credit answers for the test during lectures so go to class! Online homework can be hard sometimes but if you read the online book a little and pay attention during lecture it should be no problem. Cheat sheets are allowed, hard to not get a good grade.
If you need to take Econ 1A, then take him! He is a great professor; he is funny and always makes lectures interesting and funny. He writes his notes on the board or he projects some of the notes up on the board. He really tries to simplify the content in order to better understand. Gives extra credit, homework is online and relatively easy.
Easy C, hard A. Homework assignments every two weeks online, a midterm, and a final. Homework is 20% of your grade, the midterm is 40%, and the final is 40%. He offers a few small extra credit assignments throughout the semester. This class is difficult and I wouldn't suggest taking it unless you are an Econ major. Her curves generously though.
Took this class over the summer. Ford did a good job of only teaching the important topics rather than trying to cram in a regular semesters worth of work into the class. Textbook is not needed just take good notes. The practice problems in class and practice exams are really similar to what you will see on the actual exam. Loves diet Pepsi.
Best Econ professor at CSUS so far. He does a great job of making complicated concepts simple, and doesn't overwhelm you with unnecessary info. He prepares you for tests very well. He's very funny and relatable. Hope to take him again before I graduate.
Great professor! Gives students enough time to do their homework. Presents the material well and simply which is nice. Show up to class because some days hell reward you for extra credit and give you questions to the exams. You dont need to buy the book since he gives the material on the slides. Take good notes and study them! Ford is the MAN!!
Professor Ford went above and beyond to assist me and many other classmates in completing our 145 projects. He makes sure you understand what you're doing with your regressions which was very helpful for me since It had been a few semesters since I had taken economic research methods. He is very clear about what you need to do to pass his class.
Very easy going professor. Homework is due every two weeks. This class consists of note taking. If you miss a class, you miss a lot of information. He brings his dog on exam days which is exciting
Chill professor, recommend him if you want an easy class! Learned something about economics. Cancelled class a few times. Homework is on Aplia which costs about $90 because that's where the textbook is, puts homework, practice exams, and grades only bad part of this class lol
Prof. Ford made this class as simple as it can get. He gives a lot of extra credit so every student has a chance to receive a good grade. If you miss class, you are going to miss a lot of information since this is a lecture heavy class. I never opened the book once. Lets you have a notecard/sheet for tests, 3 exams total and HW for points. Take him
Ford is the most laid-back professor ever. He literally gives out the answers for the exam which are identical to the practice exams. Lets you use a note card for the two exams and sheet of paper for final. There is no way to do horrible on the homework because it's on Aplia and you get 3 attempts per question. Take him!! not strict at all
He is really relaxed, and understanding. He gives you the answers almost and does spend time with you if you are struggling. He gives out extra credit and the HW is easy. three exams and then the hw which is 30% of your grade. Note cards for each test and a full page for the final.
He doesn't take role after the first 2 weeks. Allows students to use computers for lectures & have their phones out, but be respectful. He references the book & does a great job teaching to his students. There's online hw that's occasionally due, but mostly just 2 exams. Tells you what topics will be on exams & gives extra credit.
Professor Ford is very laid back and pretty funny. Generous curves. More than half the class never showed up and those who did constantly talked the entire class period. Most people fail his first test because people think it's going to be super easy. I was excited to take this class, but felt like I didn't get much out of it. Interesting book.
Took this class over the summer. The best thing about Ford is also the worst thing about him. He's nonchalant but almost too nonchalant. Concepts aren't too diffuclt to grasp but he could definitely do a better job at explaining it. He makes up for this by structuring the class in a way to ensure most if not all people pass.
Fairly easy class, the class was going in a really good pace that i can accept, theres answers to all the online homework, study them, will help you a lot for the 3 exams.
He's a funny professor. He brought his puppy once which was really cool. Come to class, pay attentions, and do the homework. He wants you guys to pass but you have to make an effort. Three exams: Exam 1, Exam 2(Midterm), and the Final. He gives extra credit questions and answers that will be on the exams so be sure to come to class.
The most boring teacher Ive ever had. Mostly just puts up slides that students copy in silence, then gives a short explanation, repeat... Little engagement with the material, spends more time joking than he does teaching. Lecture does not correlate with tests, but he does offer in class review. Overall super cool guy, horrible professor.
Highly recommend hes done a great professor!!
laid back, chill professor. Easy class just do your homework and study.
Professor Ford is one of the funniest professors I have ever had a sac state. 100% recommend taking him. The course is based on homework and 3 test. If you go to class and take notes on the lecture you should be fine for the test. On our final test, he let us use our phones!!!
He is the best professor.
Mr Ford needs to show enthusiasm toward his subject, it looks like he himself dsn't like Economics. He literally writes stuff on board and students go to his class just to copy stuff on the notebooks. The tests are super hard but he curves at the end. it is easy class but not worth taking if you are looking for a class to learn.
Mr. Ford is an example of a teacher who is wrongfully in their position. After taking his class and then seeing the most recent video of his witch of a wife berating that black family. It completely displays the racism throughout his ideologies. if you are a POC, DO NOT take this course.
Clearly Tim Ford should be fired for his actions. If he isnt fired, Im withdrawing honestly.
POC love to play the victim. This man should not be fired. He was one of the nicest professors I have ever met. His study guides reflect the exams. 3 exams and couple hws. Book isn't really necessary.
This professor made several odd comments during the class. I kept coming to class but was unsettled. I passed but it wasnt a great class. He was more concerned with being right than anything else. Now I see why his comments were odd - hes made the news for saying racist and horrible things. He clearly has issues and I would avoid his classes.
Ignore all the hateful reviews. I doubt they even took his class. To make the record straight, he did not say anything racist. His wife DID say an offensive comment but he did NOT. Hes a great professor. For those who are threatening to withdraw if hes not fired, they should go ahead because they arent going to make it in the real world.
Took his class over the summer, did not regret it one bit.
He waste a lot of time in lectures. He seems very distracted while lecturing. I didn't pay so much money to spend 10 mins in between every "slide." So I didn't, and just read the textbook. You can basically plagiarized and be fine. I will never take another course taught by him.
Whenever I was in Prof. Ford's class I never felt comfortable. Prof. Ford's microaggressions are vile and he needs to reevaluate his style of teaching and behavior.
He does a good job at breaking down difficult material and providing many exercises to ensure that the class understands. Hes very down to Earth and makes the classroom experience enjoyable with his personality and jokes. He truly wants everyone to pass and helps everyone out with extra credit.
Professor Ford is recognized by the econ majors as the easiest professor to take. Of course he has high ratings - some of us aren't even sure he grades. I'd take someone else if you want to succeed in the field.
Ford was probably one of my favorite professors so far. He made sure all the criteria was easy to learn and understand & was always willing to give feedback if you were ever lost. You dont need the book as everything youll need to understand the topics is in the notes. A few HW assignments a midterm & a final & one ec .
Past drama aside, Prof Ford is a solid choice for a macro class. He is very laid back is more than willing to help anyone who asks for it. The grading is weighted heavily in your favor so even if you get an A- on one exam and a B on another you'll still be going into the final with an A. Also, his extra credit at the end can move you up half grade!
I was skeptical to take his class for obvious reasons, but as a professor he was great! His lectures were easy to follow, he gave more than enough time to complete homework, and helped us study on Zoom before exams! He also cares about his students and make the class feel comfortable. I enjoyed his class and highly recommend him for macro econ
Awesome professor. Makes economic courses less arcane and takes an intuitive approach. He cares most about your understanding than some of the econ professors that will simply make you feel like youre too dumb models/topics. Highly recommend to take some of his courses.
Easy going. Puts economics in a sense that is easy to follow, such as using NBA contracts to demonstrate inflation. Handwriting is a bit hard to read at times. Overall, a good choice for an econ professor.
He is very hard when it comes to tests (and gives very limited time). HW is on the tough side as well. Can watch lectures at your own pace/time if needed, which was nice. This class ended up way harder than I expected. I tried my best and studied many hours every week but still ended up with a C, even though he curves final grade about 10-15% up
Honestly he's a really nice and genuine teacher. I would have given him a 5, but some people cheated on his first exam so on the second exam he put even more questions. Having more questions made the second exam harder because it felt like there wasn't enough time to think. He's a really good teacher though! He knows what he's talking about.
Dr. Ford has such an expansive knowledge about economics, it truly is impressive. He makes a difficult subject easy to understand by using relatable examples. He showed a true caring about our well-being, both educationally and personally. His tests pushed us, but he graded on a curve and offered extra credit to normalize the grades.
his lectures covered some of the material in the exams. the hw flow is pretty easy as he assigns the hw at an appropriate time depending on his teaching pace with the class. his exams were a little difficult because a lot of questions regarding computations that we dont rlly practice in the hw or the midterm reviews.
Professor Ford is SUPER chill and loves to include random topics in his lectures just so that class isn't always about economics. I would highly recommend taking this class, easy A and you learn some good facts about our economy and fun stuff about himself.
Great professor, his lectures are interesting as he uses real world problems. There is plenty of extra credit.
Professor Ford is amazing and always willing to help his students and is super chill. There are lots of note taking but not hard to follow along and uses many great examples. The test/quizzes are a little difficult but the class is still very easy to pass.
He's cool and chill, lots of extra credit opportunity
Overall rating as a prof is 3/5 because his lectures are vague and doesn't make sense sometimes. Exams and homework are hard and only some match up with lecture. Overall rating as a person 5/5 because he offers TONS of EC, gives alternate options if we fail an assignment or exam, and always willing to help students pass the class.
Amazing professor, teaches well and keeps it interesting. Can definitely tell he cares about his students. Light workload and is able to be reached when needed.
the lectures were not helpful toward homework and tests!!!!i feel like they were pointless and i did not learn anything. you look up everything. honestly he was unprofessional. he would play videos discussing politics and opinions, and would mention how college is not really important. & he voted for trump like why tell us, keep that to yourself.
Entertaining and affable professor. There aren't very many assignments in this class, and the only assignments are single attempt. You won't pass this class without engaging with course material - definitely not one of those courses where you can simply look up an answer. I wish that the Zoom meetings had slides to make viewing slightly easier.
This guy is awesome! One of the best professors I've had. Going to definitely be taking him as often as possible for the future.
Honestly, great professor. We talked about things outside of economics based on current events which was nice for a change, and engaged in really good discussion. He's a great professor, perfect online class. If you have the chance to, TAKE IT.
I liked his class, but mainly it was just taking notes. If you can't attend the zoom meeting, you'll have to get the notes from someone or through a discord class group made. He's funny and we did talk about current events during class which was a nice break from notes. HW only one try but extra credit is offered.
Loved this class. Very chill and informative. Talked about current events which made the class more interesting. Always kept it real. TAKE HIM!
This is an easy class, you can attend and do other stuff while you're in class because it's pretty low effort. The content is interesting enough, but there are no slides, he doesn't post his written notes anywhere, and his hand-writing is almost illegible. He seems like he means well and sincerely wants students to succeed in his class.
Good professor, class is mostly taking notes. Does take breaks to share relevant topics and connects it back to the class. Homework is indeed one try only, quizzes are a bit tough. Media project at the end of the course is not too difficult.
