not bad- emails the notes to you if you say you're sick. tests are a bit ambiguous, but he's all about helping you out.
good guy, he really wants the none majors to get past that class and not be hurt in the GPA.
Great teacher and very understanding. He doesn't want none majors to suffer severely in class and is very helpful when it comes to work. I'd definately reccomend this class for none majors of biology.
Mr. Hayes is nice and will go the extra mile to help his students. The material is difficult but he is willing to work with you so that you may pass the class.
take professor hayes if you are a non-major and need a bio class. he's very nice and very helpful. also, don't be afraid to ask "stupid questions", he won't make you feel dumb. had the class for summer session c and got an "A".
Makes you feel as if he is one of you. Understands student situations and that you can't be expected to know everything.
This class is pretty easy. If you go to the labs and try, he will give you all of your points. For lecture, he uses PowerPoint, and will e-mail you the notes if you ask. You really have to study for his tests! He is a guy that really cares about his students.
super nice guy. really helps out non majors...take this guy if you are an education major
Lectures are powerpoint. If you study your powerpoint notes and memorize them for the tests you will do fine. Memorization is key. Sometimes though there is a lot to memorize though. Nice guy and I would definitely take him again.
If you are a non-major you should take Mr. Hayes! He's a very down to earth guy who cares about his students. He understand that not everyone is a science major and will go the extra mile to help you out! Labs are easy if you try.
Great man. Wants to help you and understands those of us who arent so gifted in the science department. He is not a self righteous teacher and tries to make complicated concepts easy. More than anything I think he understands his students,in that,he is there to help not hurt, and not to stress us out
Hayes is awesome, especially for non-major students; he knows that you're there because you have to be, so he doesn't try to make things harder than they have to be, while still doing a great job teaching. Funny, too.
Professor Hayes is a great teacher. I would highly recommend him to anyone. He knows that not everyone loves or easily understands biology. He goes out of his way to make sure everyone does well or at least passes the class. He makes the information fun too!
I hate science, but this professor made it very easy for me...he is extremely fair...and he will go out of his way to benefit the students....i recommend him to anyone who isnt very good in the science dept. If only we had more teachers this caring
Dr. Hayes is a great Prof. He is VERY understanding that not everyone is a Biology major. He helps any way that he can. If I had to take another course I would DEFINATELY take him. If the majority of the class does bad on a test he will let you take it home and redo it. Very, very nice guy!
Wonderful Professor- very nice and understanding. I would definitly take him again.
Mr. Hayes will help you however he can and you should take him if you want to do well. He's a nice guy.
Mr. Hayes is a great teacher! He is willing to help and makes the articles and subject matter interesting. He uses good visual aids and the labs correlate with the material that is being covered. He will do his best to make sure you pass your tests and finals. He will keep in touch with you via e-mail.
Mr. Hayes His test were about the lectures that he gave in powerpoint format. As long as you study the powerpoint for the test you would do fine on them.
Easy.Fun. Even if not interested in Biology.
Dude he his so awesome. I wish all of my teachers were like him
Cool teacher. REALLY HELPS EVERYONE OUT!! My class was slow, but he made sure that everyone had a chance to make a good grade. TAKE HIM! You won't regret it.
His notes are in powerpoint, you can just go to WebCT and print them off, his tests are ok, he is a very fair grader (if you make a good argument about a missed question, he will give it to the whole class), and he will help you any possible way that he can. There are quizzes almost every day, but they're easy! Take him if you don't like science.
The class is boring. Power point class. He is a good teacher. He is flexible with test make ups. He is easy to talk to about stuff. He always gives at least 5 extra points on each test, so that helps. Attendance conts.
he's freakin' awesome!!!!!
This teacher is the best... took him two semesters in a row because he is awesome. Almost every test he curves to your benefit and some are take home. He tells you exactly what you need to know for each one. I wish he could teach everything... Two Thumbs Up!!
Dude was awesome! Hardly went to class, failed one test, B in the lab and still got a B in the class! Powerpoints are available online and over half of test material comes from them! Take this guy.
Boring, redundant Powerpoints. But he at least has a sense of humor and tells you what you need to know and understands that you're not a science major. He curves RADICALLY so just show up for class and read the PowerPoints before the exams. Easy A if you just do your part.
Great teacher. Curves about every test you take and his grading scale is amazing if you can comprehend it. No way you should fail if you are at least somewhat attentive and interested. Mostly powerpoint material for tests, but I'd suggest looking at the book as well.
Wonderful teacher! Most kind professor I have ever met really cares! I got a B should have gotten a C or maybe a D. Take him!
The best teacher I have ever had! He is so good and he is understanding of anything you need to do! I HIGHLY recommend him!!
i recommend this teacher for people who are not good at biology, like me. his lectures are somewhat interesting and he is a very nice guy. i got a B when i should have gotten a C or D, so take this guy!
I'm not good with biology at all, and I got an A in this class! And...I actually LEARNED! He's a great professor! I plan on taking him for 105! He's very understanding and very helpful! Definitely take him for Biology!!
Best teacher ever....very helpful and understanding. I learned a lot in this class!
Hes very willing to help you pass. Cares about his students.
This professor wants you to succeed! He is helpful, funny, interested in his class, and most importantly, he makes the class an easy one in which it is hard NOT to get an A or B. I give him a full recommendation!
i've had him twice and he gets hotter and hotter.
He is a great professor, very relaxed and helpful. His tests are very straight-forward as long as you study. With a little work it is possible for anyone to get an A in his class. He fully understands that it is a non-majors Bio class and doesn't expect the world of his students.
Mr. Hayes is incredibly hilarious and really wants to see people succeed. He is able to explain things thoroughly without having unanswered questions. His sarcasm also adds to the fun when he is teaching.
Professor Hayes made me like biology, something that thought would never happen. Thanks!
Hayes is a good guy, but he is very careless with his exams. many of his questions are incredibly vague and often have no clear answer. he typically gives credit for 5 additional questions, which usually brought my grade from a C to a B --in a class where i should have easily had an A. also, the lab instructor was useless.
Professor Hayes is AMAZING!!! I am not a science person, but he made the class interesting and fun. He really cares if you learn and gives detailed study guides for the exams. He also gives you opportunities for extra credit. I learned a lot and got an A+. If you study, you will definitely get an A.
you will have to read test questions 3 times to make any sense of them. he does want you to pass, so he will help you with the tests, but there is no study guide and you have to guess what will be on the test(usually will be more off his power points than anything).
Very Nice guy! Easy class if you put a little effort into it. Study for tests and you'll be fine!
Prof. Hayes is an excellent teacher. He makes his class interesting and fun (two words that I never associated with any science class). Take him for biology if you can!
This guy is the man
Mr. Hayes is awesome! He makes biology very interesting, and I don't even like science! I highly recommend Mr. Hayes to anyone who has to take biology. He even gave us a study guide for our most recent test.
Prof Hayes wants to give good grades. He has a good sense of humor in class and makes biology interesting. Tests are HARD, you must read. He does however use webct for posting notes which is a big help. Hayes is a good guy and a great professor, I learned and I'm not a science/biology person at all.
He is a really good professor. Everything is on powerpoint so as long as you take notes and listen you will do fine. I hate Science and I suck at it, but he made it tolerable. His tests are hard, but he gives extra credit and lab makes up a lot of the grade too. Take him you will not be disappointed.
He uses powerpoint as long as the majority of the class attends. His tests are very hard. You have to read the book. If you try, and show him you are trying, he'll help you out by giving you extra credit.
He is a good teacher. Go to class even though attendance isn't mandatory. If you aren't there, you miss a lot of notes. Everyone complains about the tests, but they aren't THAT hard. All you have to do is read the book a few days before the exam. He's funny and a really nice guy.
Go to class and take notes on everything in his powerpoint lectures. Be sure to thoroughly read the chapters before tests. They are quite hard, but are not impossible. He doesn't respond to emails or any communication outside of class, but he makes up for it by curving his grades a substantial amount. Be sure to go to lab!
Professors Hayes is great. Go to class, take adequate notes, and scan over the textbook when studying for tests. The exams are pretty fair; just listen to what he says! He's funny, understanding, and knows what he's talking about. And honestly, I only went to 3 labs and got a B! I recommended him to my BFF and she loves him, too. Take him! =]
Great teacher, I loved him. He gives daily quizzes so if you do bad on the tests at least you have that to fall back on. He presents the information in a way that people understand will help anyone in need.
This guy is awesome
Loves Power points! Take good notes, pay attn to slides and any pictures, keep ALL notes, old tests, etc. He will allow you to use them ;) GREAT professor and keeps you interested!
Mr. Hayes is a fantastic teacher. He has tons of power points so take a lot of notes. Most of his notes appear on the tests.
Great teacher. Don't get caught on your phone, we will make you look like an idiot in front of the entire class and then throw you out. Show him respect and he will show it back. Really cool dude.
I LOVE this guy! I had him as a Bio prof. in high school and he is just marvelous!
Professor Hayes is the best- IF you act in a professional manner. I.e.: take his class seriously, and he will take you seriously. To that end, Professor Hayes is very humorous and wants to see his students succeed. One last piece of advice: DO NOT USE YOU CELL PHONE DURING CLASS- WHATSOEVER. /o.o\
Loved this class! He is Awesome! Just make flash cards of all the power points and you will do fine.
This is a man who will do anything for you in order for you to succeed. If you do not understand something he will do his best to show you another way to understand it. He wants to see his students succeed. Take his class seriously and he will do the same for you. Study study study!!!!
Nice guy that makes biology more enjoyable. He wants to see his students do well. Pretty important to show up for class, lots of note taking everyday.
I had him for class that was 4:00pm-5:15pm and we usually got out before 5. He is very funny and easygoing. He does his best to help you get the highest grade you can. His lectures aren't boring at all.
DON'T TAKE CELL PHONES TO HIS CLASS!! Very nice man, fantastic teacher.
He is an all around great guy. I'm just not great at science, seeing as I'm going to be a teacher not a scientist.
He is an amazing professor!! His lectures are long, but he makes them entertaining. Super outgoing guy. He will do everything he can to raise your grade. Show up to class and study study study !!!!! I did not studied as much as I should've and still pulled out a C
LOVE LOVE LOVE, definitely recommend.
Best professor by far that i have had at marshall! he will do anything for you to past ! he was curve and up your grade at the end of the semester , funny, and fairly easy tests to be considered a science major class. 10/10 recommendation
Hayes was a pleasure to have as an evening class professor. He despises cell phones, but his lectures are very engaging and straightforward, and he gives a 10 minute break. Tests are similar to the lectures, but the lectures are big so take notes and study as much as you can! Otherwise, you will learn a lot, and you will have fun with Hayes.
Hayes is a great professor. Explains things well and knows the material. Only downside is that he does not use blackboard, so you never know where you stand grade wise unless you ask
Amazing teacher, always was a great teacher in High School and through College. Love the man!
Funny guy. You'll enjoy him as a person and he makes his lectures as enjoyable as possible. The tests are standardized so I definitely recommend reading the textbook chapters along the week of that lecture. Go to class, take notes, and he'll round your grade to help you out towards the end. All grades are based on exams and lab, no extra credit.
Love love love Hayes. He is very serious and passionate about what he teaches. Your grade in his class only consist of your lecture test and lab which is 40% of your grade!! Show up to class, study, study, study, and youll pass! I would definitely take his class if you need BSC 227.
his exams are pretty easy, mainly open note which is nice, even if youve got a bad grade he gives you a chance to kinda make it up. you have to show up to this class to pass tho!! he truly cares about his students grades and wants everyone to succeed which is hard to find in a professor
Professor Hayes was the best anatomy professor Ive ever had. He cares about his students and wants them to pass. As long as you study, you will pass his class. He was a great professor.
had him as a teacher for anatomy in high school, honestly one of my favorites.
Dr. Hayes is an awesome professor. He truly cares about each of his students and how well they are being taught the material in lecture and in lab. Dr. Hayes gives absolutely no homework assignments, so the only grades in his class is four exams + the final. Dr. Hayes also HATES technology, so be prepared to hand write all notes during lectures.
Professor Hayes is amazing! His lectures were clear and to the point, and he incorporates humor. He curves exams, and truly cares about the success of his students. He does NOT like technology, so, keep ringers turned off, and devices hidden. If you pay attention during his lectures and take notes, and study his PowerPoints, you will do fine.
Dr. Hayes' class is great! You need the textbook, but if you get the digital copy just know that he does not like technology. If he does an open book test, he will let you use your digital textbook, but you can't use it for anything else. He jokes around & breaks up the tension and stress. I would highly recommend taking any class from him.
Not sure about the other reviews, but Hayes was extremely disorganized. His powerpoints barely contained any information and half the class dropped.
Tim Hayes is an incredible professor. I have nothing but compliments for his teaching style. His lectures were information-packed and anxiety was relieved with jokes and casual humor. He is a very respectable professor who gives a crap about his position. Labs are really difficult but run by a GSA and not directly by Tim. I highly recommend Tim.
Honestly one of the most caring and kind professors! He wants you to succeed as much as possible, he works with you and has no issue going into depth on certain topics if needed. Only downside is that this class is only based on 4 exams, but he explains what he is going to put on each exam. Buy the book and read it, show up to class!
